SHANI DEV A GOOD TEACHER
In Vedic astrology, Saturn ( Shani Dev) is considered a strict but fair teacher who brings lessons and hardships to individuals based on their past actions. This is seen as a form of discipline to help individuals learn important lessons and grow as individuals. Saturn ( Shani Dev) is known for promoting hard work, responsibility, integrity, and patience. By facing challenges and difficulties during Saturn transits, individuals can learn valuable lessons and make positive changes in their lives.
However, whether or not Saturn ( Shani Dev) is considered a "good" teacher is subjective and depends on one's personal beliefs and experiences. Some may view Saturn's lessons as difficult and unpleasant, while others may see them as opportunities for growth and self-improvement. It is important to remember that Saturn's lessons are not meant to be punishing, but rather to help individuals become their best selves.
Lord Shani rules the planet Saturn and has strong influence on everyone’s life as per astrology. Hindus from all communities worship Lord Shani to avoid malefic influence of the God, in their horoscope. Especially devotees who have sade sathi or Saturn cycle in their life fast and pray on this day to Lord Shani.
The purpose of fasting and doing Shani dev puja is to please Lord Shani with prayers and visiting Shani temples, so that luck and fortune are received by individuals. It is believed that position of Shani in the horoscope along with other navgraha should be nice so that one’s hard work is paid off in this life.
People also perform special puja on Shani Jayanti, which comes once in a year devotees perform ‘Shani Shanti puja’. Shani homam or yagya are also conducted by the people in the presence of acharya or purohit to protect themselves from all wrongs and black magic. To avoid witchcraft, people wear horse shoe rings in their fingers and also hang the horse shoes in their houses.
Performing Shani puja has lot of significances in the Indian culture. People strongly believe that by worshipping Lord Saturn, all the hurdles and problems in one’s path are eliminated. It is considered very essential to get free of Shani Dosha before starting a new venture.
In conclusion, Saturn ( Shani Dev) is often seen as a teacher who brings lessons and hardships in order to help individuals learn important lessons and grow as individuals. Whether or not Saturn is considered a "good" teacher is subjective and depends on one's personal beliefs and experiences.

I am often drawn to places that offer a combination of natural beauty, cultural significance and spiritual tranquility. Somnath Temple, located near Sasan Gir in Junagadh, Gujarat, is one such destination. The temple’s rich history, coupled with the stunning landscapes of the Gir Forest National Park, make it an ideal place for a spiritual and adventurous journey.
Beginning my journey from Ahmedabad, I embarked on a scenic drive through the vibrant Gujarat countryside. The drive itself was a delight, with charming villages, lush green fields and glimpses of the majestic Girnar Hills. The road was well maintained and the ride was comfortable.
Reaching Somnath – A Divine Experience::
Reaching Somnath, I was immediately captivated by the serene atmosphere of the temple. The temple is situated on the shores of the Arabian Sea and the sound of waves crashing against the shore added to the peaceful ambiance. The intricate architecture of the temple and the massive scale of the structure left me in awe.
Somnath Temple has immense religious significance for Hindus. It is considered one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, which represent the most sacred abodes of Lord Shiva. The temple has a rich history dating back to ancient times. According to legend, the temple was destroyed and rebuilt several times, most notably by Arab invaders in the 8th century.
Exploring the Temple Complex::
The temple complex is vast and includes several other shrines and structures. One of the most notable features is the Somnath Trust Museum, which houses a collection of historical artifacts and documents related to the history of the temple. The museum offers valuable insights into the importance of the temple and its role in the cultural and religious landscape of India.
After exploring the temple complex, I decided to take a dip in the Arabian Sea. The cool waters were refreshing and the experience was truly rejuvenating. As I sat on the beach watching the sunset, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of peace and tranquility.
A visit to Sasan Gir National Park::
No trip to Somnath is complete without a visit to Sasan Gir National Park, home of the Asiatic lion. The park is a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts and offers opportunities to spot lions, leopards, antelopes and several other species.
I opted for a jeep safari, which is the most popular way to explore the park. As we drove through the dense forests, I was on the edge of my seat, hoping to catch a glimpse of the elusive king of the jungle. Fortunately, our guide’s experience and knowledge paid off and we were able to observe a pride of lions resting under the shade of a tree. It was a truly unforgettable moment.
The Importance of Somnath Temple::
As a blogger, I believe that Somnath Temple offers a unique combination of spiritual, cultural and natural experiences. The temple’s rich history, coupled with the stunning beauty of the surrounding region, make it an ideal destination for content creators.
Here are a few reasons why Somnath Temple is an important place:::
Cultural Significance: The temple’s religious significance and historical importance provide ample opportunities for storytelling and exploring cultural themes.
Natural Beauty: The picturesque location, which includes the Arabian Sea and Sasan Gir National Park, provides stunning imagery that can be used to enhance blog posts and social media content.
Personal Experience: The temple’s peaceful atmosphere and opportunity to connect with nature can provide valuable insights into personal growth and spirituality.
By sharing my experiences and knowledge about Somnath Temple, I hope to inspire others to embark on their own spiritual and adventurous journeys. Whether you are a religious person or just looking for a quiet getaway, Somnath Temple is a destination that is sure to leave a lasting impression.
Last but not list :: if you wanna do this spiritual journey than Choose Gujarat Taxi - Apke safar ka sathi

Elizabeth Donnelly x reader Warnings: language
Part of storivesofsvvuoneyearbingo song prompt “Here (in your arms) by Hellogoodbye”
When Elizabeth pushed open the door to her brownstone she could hear the low rumble of laundry being done in the basement. She huffed out a breath at the sound of a light clattering from the kitchen, it had been a long as fuck day in court and she was hoping the housekeeper would be gone already, even though she was home by dinner for once. Stepping out of her shoes she hung up her coat, leaving her bag by the door to go through a couple emails on her phone while she crossed through the house. Her ears perked up at the unmistakable sound of a wine cork popping from the kitchen, the curiosity pulling her in that direction instead.
Your head turned at the sound of Elizabeth in the doorway, a smile breaking out on your face as you placed the wine bottle back down on the counter.
“You’re home early.” You greeted and she smiled, more than happy to see you in her space, “hope it’s okay I hijacked your washer. I couldn’t be bothered to want to deal with a fucking laundry mat right now.”
You crossed the room quickly, moving into her arms for a tight hug and a gentle kiss. You’d been away at a two week medical conference in Seattle, when you weren’t drowning in research papers, you were bored out of your mind trapped in a hotel room. While your relationship with Liz was solidified, you still usually only saw each other on the weekends, and still lived apart. She’d given you a key to her place a few months in, knowing that sometimes you had weird hours and wanted to make sure you felt as comfortable in her space as you could. She also always offered you up any services an actual house had that your apartment probably didn’t, which is why you’d ended up over here after your plane landed and not at home.
“I don’t mind at all sweetheart.” Liz smiled softly at you, pulling you back in for another hug, holding you against her, breathing out a sigh of relief of having you back in her arms again, “I’ve missed you quite terribly.”
“It was only two weeks.” You giggled softly, pulling back to catch her eyes, “you have a rough case or something?” She kissed your temple, shrugging as you moved back to the counter.
“Every case can be tough. It’s both easier and harder being on the bench, while I don’t have to feel directly responsible if a conviction doesn’t go through, I still have the power to change it.”
“Yet you can’t do that often or you’ll be booted?”
“Exactly.” She accepted the glass of wine you passed her, murmuring a quiet thank you before she took a sip.
“I ordered from Sathi, did you want yours now? I was gonna just leave it in the fridge.”
“How could I turn down eating dinner with my favourite girl?” She grinned and you felt your cheeks heat, ducking your head with a small smile as you started to pull down plates.
“You’re too sweet.” You pecked her cheek gently as the two of you moved back to the dining room, settling in at the table.
“How was the conference?”
“Mountains of boring research and avoiding everyone trying to sell their products.”
“Sounds even less enjoyable than a DA gala.”
“It is.” You snorted out a laugh, “no open bar or free dinner.”
“Did you get to see any of the city?” She asked and you shrugged,
“It rained literally the entire time, I stayed curled up under the covers in bed.”
“Sounds like much more enjoyable.” Liz replied and you grinned.
“Not nearly enjoyable enough on my own.” You smirked, the gleam in your eye pulling a laugh from them blonde as she shook her head at your antics.
“Well I guess it’s a good thing you’re back then.”
Leaning in, she pressed a kiss into your cheek that you hummed in satisfaction at before turning back to your dinner. The conversation flowed easily, while you’d kept in touch over the weeks you were gone, it had only really been the bare minimum, both of you busy with your own work, and the time zones being as far apart as they could within the U.S.
You were forever and eternally grateful that your path had crossed with Liz’s, though you’d never expected a relationship to bloom out of it. You’d met at a networking event, high ups in multiple fields throughout New York socializing and schmoozing, making connections across more than just their career fields. While getting a drink refill you’d made a small joke in passing to the woman about how ridiculous it seemed, at this stage shouldn’t you have made enough connections to survive off of? You were surprised when she laughed as heartily as she did, pausing to introduce herself. You spent the next hour or so getting to know each other, gossiping about who you knew in the room, bonding over your mutual distaste for events like this. About halfway through the evening a stunner of a redhead came up to Liz, briefly and quickly discussing something, and curiosity got the best of you, cocking a brow at Liz as the younger woman scampered off. She explained then that she was now a Manhattan Judge, that the girl had been one of the lawyers working under her while she was Bureau Chief and Liz still kept a pretty protective eye over her ‘kids’ as she called them. You couldn’t help but find it adorable that she still watched over them, and it made her seem even more human.
At the end of the night, you’d flirted most of the evening, and exchanged contact information. You were pretty smitten, and made the call about a week later asking her to lunch. It didn’t take long for you to fall into each other’s lives on a regular basis, Liz still valued her privacy and alone time most nights she preferred to wind down on her own with a glass of scotch. She was nearly baffled when you were more than accepting of this, either you were one hell of a good actor, or you actually had no issue with it. (you were a terrible actor, you just understood. After being surrounded by people all day, silence really was the best medicine).
The first time she’d found you in the brownstone after giving you a key she could hear the laundry going, knowing that you were there, but you were nowhere to be seen. She had started to think that you’d put the clothing in and left before she made her way upstairs, passing the guest room on the way to her own to find you perched on the bed, tablet quietly playing Netflix while you worked through a research paper. She’d asked why on earth you were in there and you simply shrugged, saying you knew she valued her space and it was the middle of the week, you didn’t want to intrude anymore into hers than you already were.
It wasn’t very long at all after that that she told you she loved you the first time.
With dinner finished, you collected the plates from the table, moving back to the kitchen as the dryer buzzed from the basement. Liz kissed the top of your head softly, mentioning that she’d take care of the dishes while you did what you needed. It was only a few moments after she’d finished drying her hands on a dish towel that you emerged, dropping the bag down near the back door.
“Thanks for the utilities.” You teased, kissing her gently, “I’ll get out of your hair now.” You pecked her cheek, turning toward the door before her hand gently closed around your wrist, pulling you back.
“You really don’t need to.” She assured you and you waffled slightly.
“Are you sure? It’s Wednesday…”
“I like it when you sleep here.” She smiled, ducking down to kiss your nose, “I know I may come off as brash a lot, but I really do adore having you around, no matter what the time or day. It helps that you get it, you don’t constantly chatter on about shit.”
“I do really enjoy a comfortable silence.” You laughed quietly and Liz smiled, kissing you softly.
“So you’ll stay?”
“Of course.”
You let her arm wrap around your waist as you accompanied her to the living room. You were a few seasons into a Gilmore Girls binge when you’d left for Seattle, and the both of you were eager to continue. Liz pulled a blanket over your laps, encouraging you to lean into her embrace, placing a soft kiss to your head as you polished off the bottle of wine. During a break between episodes you moved to take the empty wine bottle and glasses to the kitchen, rinsing out the glassware, placing it into the drying rack.
Liz always had the coffee set to brew a pot of decaf at this time of night, so you waited the last couple of seconds while it finished, dressing the mugs as you both preferred them before moving back into the living room. You placed them down on the coffee table as you cocked your brow at the other woman.
“What?” You asked softly.
“Nothing.” She shook it off with a small smile and you laughed as you dropped down onto the couch beside her, your hand tilting her head back to you.
“You can’t fool me Donnelly…what?”
“You’re something else, you know that?” She smiled at you, leaning in to kiss you tenderly and you flushed, an adorable giggle escaping your lips.
“Thanks.”
“I mean it…I fell in love with you so suddenly…I barely realized it was happening. But now…I can’t even begin to imagine my life without you.”
“Liz…” you half whined, “stop…”
“I love you sweetheart.” She kissed you again, “and don’t worry, that’s all the sap you’re getting out of me tonight.”
You barked a laugh, your head thrown back at her words before you wrapped your arms around her shoulders, pulling you to her for another kiss.
“And that’s all I need. Because I love you Elizabeth, and I always will.”
“I love you too.” She kissed your lips, the smile evident on her own, pulling another small giggle from you, “I’d like it if you’d stay more than just tonight.”
“I’ll be back over the weekend.” You offered and she smirked yet again.
“How about you just don’t go back to that apartment?”
“You askin’ me to move in? Want me to be around all the time? Annoy the shit out of you?” You teased, kissing her face between each question and she laughed, swatting at your arm.
“Even if you tried, you couldn’t possibly annoy me as much as that team of prosecutors.”
“Are you sure?” You stalled and Liz saw the hesitancy in your eyes, her face softening as her hand cupped your cheek.
“Absolutely.” She kissed your forehead. “I love you, and I want you to be around…I worry when you’re not. I may not say it enough sweetheart but you’re my world.”
“Liz…” you practically melted, your heart bursting in your chest, you knew that you loved each other, but Liz rarely vocalized her affection, so something like this meant more than a lot. “I love you too..” was about all you could manage, a soft laugh escaping your lips as you kissed her again.
“Oh don’t get sappy on me now.” She prodded and you laughed again, burying yourself into her shoulder.
“I’m not.” You sighed softly, relaxing against her frame, “just never thought I’d hear you say something like that.” You hummed at the way she kissed the top of your head, her arm tightening around you as the show began again. It was only at the next commercial break, you’d picked up her hand in yours, playing with it absentmindedly before you spoke again. “You’re my world too..” you barely mumbled, still distracted with her hand, not really meeting her eye.
Liz hummed softly, not speaking yet as she let you continue to work through your thought before you spoke it.
“It still surprises me every day. Part of me thought I would never fall in love, that I would never find someone who was willing to put up with me long enough to have a relationship. But for some reason you decided I was a good enough for you, and I’ll never forget that. I never knew what love actually felt like until I met you.”
“I thought you weren’t going to get sappy?” She teased with a gleam in her eyes and you let out a small laugh, “sweetheart…” she kissed you gently, “as long as you’re with me…you’ll always know what love feels like. Because there isn’t a moment that goes by that I feel anything but love for you.”
“Sounds like you’re getting sappy now my love.” You teased, tilting your head up to hers, a grin on your cheeks that she scoffed at.
“Well don’t go telling anyone.”
“I wont.” You pecked her cheek, “as long as you come upstairs and give me all the cuddles I want?”
“You make a hard bargain you know that?”
“Do ?” You grinned as you stood from the couch, “cause last time I heard, you liked having me here.”
“Oh you are ridiculous.” Liz smirked, wrapping an arm around you as you tried to move through the room. You half shrieked, playfully turning in her arms, the laughter ever evident on your cheeks.
“But you still love me.” You playfully nearly mocked her and Liz laughed.
“Yes..yes I do…” she kissed your cheek softly, “now did you want those cuddles or not?”
“Yes please.” You smiled, kissing at her cheek before she lead you up the stairs.

shankaridevi temple, trincomalee, srilanka.Navaratri special...will be posting about ashta dasha(18) shakti peetas or shrines ...hope you'll love it♥️🙏 🙏There was a king called Daksha Prajapati. He had 27 daughters and Sati devi is one among them. Sati devi got married to Lord Shiva. 🙏When Dashka attended the yaga performed by Agni, every one except Lord Shiva stood up as a mark of respect. Daksha felt insulted by Lord Shiva’s behaviour. Later when Daksha conducted a yaga him self,he didn't invite his daughter and his son in law. 🙏Though Sati felt bad because of that, she wanted to attend the yaga against the wish of Lord Shiva. When Sati attended the yaga no body has cared for her and she felt insulted by the actions of her sisters and parents & when her father started abusing her husband she couldn't control her feelings and scarified herself at the place of yagna by creating agni from earth with her right thumb of her foot. 🙏Knowing this Lord Shiva removed one bunch of Jhata(hair) from his head and hit it on the earth. From that Lord Veerabhadra has born and rushed to yaga spot and killed Daksha. 🙏Later Shiva went to the spot and taken her body from the fire and started dancing with it. The world was terrorized from this Tandava Nritya and to stop this, lord Vishnu cut-off the sati's body into pieces by using his sudarshan chakra. 🙏These body parts have fallen at various places.wherever these parts have fallen, the places are called shaktipeetas 🙏There are 51shakti peetas by various accounts,of which 18 are named as major parts of maa sati devi written by adi Shankaracharya in Hindu texts ♥️The Shankaridevi shakti peet is the first in the list of astadasha peetas. Here sathi Devi's groin had fallen.According to the monk sayings, at present, there's no temple ♥️ #temples #navaratri #maa #ammavaru #shakti #shaktipeeth #ancienttemple #srilankatourism #srilankatrip #hinduism #goddess (at Shankari Devi Temple) https://www.instagram.com/p/CGdGwWMJL8f/?igshid=fiy5qcyusplc

A trip from brouhaha to silence
 PEHLA SUKH NIROGI KAYA
A recent visit to Palampur had us visit a place for detox. There were people there of all shapes and sizes and from all walks of life. Most of them were from Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi. There was one thing common to all. They were all not in the best of health. Some were troubled with obesity, others with cholesterol, high BP, diabetes, insomnia and many other such problems.
Tumblr media
There were different lines of treatment available, ranging from Panchkarma to Naturopathy to Physiotherapy, acupuncture and even acupressure.
There was a huge emphasis on an hour and a half of yoga every morning and meditation in the evening. The day started at 6 am and closed at 10 pm with an hour of rest in the afternoon. Come evening and the focus was on 'Dhyan Mandir'. The activities there were in the likes of silent meditation, Jyoti meditation, chanting etc.
Everything was done with utmost precision and solemnity. But the scene in the dining hall was hilarious at times. Only the diet prescribed to each person was given to him. Detox was the goal. The person serving would refuse to give even a morsel more than the diet prescription which was treated as a commandment. The protests by the clients were comical to say the least.
One skinny patient was prescribed only roti and dal and was told to eat slowly and chew each bite to a count of 32. Just that, was his treatment. His complaint was that his stomach was always upset no matter what he ate. So his tummy was overactive and the metabolic rate had to be slowed down.
Another strange case there was of a busy executive of a large telecom company. He travelled extensively and had meetings at odd hours of the day and night. He had no regular sleep time. He said he slept only during flights and worked at all other times. The doctor told him that if he wanted to stay alive beyond six months, he’d better start sleeping 6-7 hours. All they worked on during his ten day stay there was his sleep. They did Shirodhara, hot and cold packs, body massages, acupressure etc.
Truly the body is a temple given to us. Given that the body is a vehicle for us to cross the Bhav-Sagar (ocean of life) it is our duty to look after it well. What I am coming to is that  we all know that we need to eat healthy, sleep adequately as well as do some sort of exercise on a regular basis if we want to live a healthy life. But why do we forget? More often than not, by the time realization sets in, it’s already too late.
Perhaps in our minds eye, we never grow old. Perhaps we feel that our youth shall continue forever. But that is just phantasmagoria.
In a place such this, the purpose of life suddenly appears very simple. As you spend time with nature and yourself you have spiritual experiences. You wake up to the realization that man is not just an earthly being having a spiritual experience. The truth is that man is a spiritual being having an earthly experience.
Simple living and high thinking is what we need to focus on. Looking after the body could be looking after its physical/ emotional and mental health. Mostly a balanced diet and a reasonable amount of physical activity are all that are required to keep the body in shape up to a certain age. But once we are on the downside of the hill there are glitches.
After having tried all the fancy foods like pizzas, burgers, noodles, pastas etc. we finally come back to our basic food of roti, dal, vegetables and fruits. Hence simplicity!
After baking and grilling, braising and tempering, we realize that simple food like sprouts and lightly cooked vegetables are the healthiest options. Hence detox!
After listening to various kinds of music as well as noise, we come to understand that silence is the most peaceful, for it is only in silence that you can hear the voice of God. Hence meditation!
After wearing all the fancy apparel in the world, we realize that nothing is more comfortable than cotton. Hence Khadi!
Sooner or later each of us comes to realize that we want to simplify life. Too much baggage makes the journey difficult. Hence, ‘Ceiling on desires’.
‘Kayakalp-Palampur’ gave us a simple holiday, a time to reflect on what we are trying to achieve, a time to introspect on the purpose of life … it did us a lot of good. Perhaps everyone needs it, sooner or later.
I suddenly remembered what our forefathers of yore said,
Pehla sukh nirogi kaya (healthy body)
Doosra sukh dhan aur maya (wealth)
Teesra sukh sabhya sathi (a partner of good character)
Chautha sukh aulaad aagyakari (obedient children)
Paanchwa sukh ho sunder vaas (comfortable home)
Chata sukh ho sathi paas (couple living together)
Saatvaan sukh santoshi jeewan (being content)
Aisa ho to dhanya ho jeewan! (life is perfect)

"An American In Kollywood (Tamil Cinema)"
Ellis Roderick Dungan (May 11, 1909 – December 1, 2001) was an American film director, who was well known for working in Indian films, predominantly in Tamil cinema, from 1936 to 1950. He was an alumnus of the University of Southern California and moved to India in 1935. During his film career in South India, Dungan directed the debut films of several popular Tamil film actors, such as M. G. Ramachandran in Sathi Leelavathi, T. S. Balaiya and N. S. Krishnan.
In 1935, he came to India with his college mate Michael Ormalev at the invitation of another USC student - Manik Lal Tandon of Bombay. Tandon's family was then planning to enter the film industry. When those plans did not take off, Tandon invited them to Calcutta where he was directing the Tamil film Nandanar. There Tandon introduced them to A. N. Marudhachalam Chettiar, a film producer who was making the film Sathi Leelavathi and recommended Dungan be hired to direct the film as he himself was busy directing Nandanar. Thus Dungan made his directing debut with Sathi Leelavathi which was also the first film of future-Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. G. Ramachandran. During 1936-50, Dungan made a number of Tamil films and one Hindi film - Meera (1947). Dungan had no knowledge of Indian languages, a problem which never affected his career as a director of films in Indian languages, especially Tamil. He introduced many new techniques to Indian cinema despite the technical limitations of that period. Many of his movies were based on the mythical characters of the Hindu religion and he had to shoot them in Hindu temples where non-Hindus were not allowed in those days. Dungan filmed his movies in the temples by passing himself off as a Kashmiri pundit. Dungan is credited with introducing modern make-up, the mobile camera and cabaret dance numbers to Tamil Cinema and moving it away from the influence of stage plays. For his introduction of intimate love scenes in Ponmudi (1950), Dungan was criticized by the press for introducing "vulgar" scenes and for "corrupting the population with American ways".
His last Tamil film was Manthiri Kumari in 1950. He returned to America and settled in Wheeling, West Virginia in 1958. There he started his company - "Ellis Dungan productions" and for the next thirty years made documentary movies for the Hollywood producer Duke Goldstone.
Dungan is credited with having revolutionized Indian cinema and introduced western innovations. In 2013, American film maker Karan Bali made a one-hour documentary on Dungan titled An American in Madras by consulting West Virginia State Archives and interviewing people who had known Dungan.

The social significance of this festival is that the first-borns are brighter and it is ultimately they who take up the burden of the family after the death of the parents. According to psychologists, the first-borns are mostly healthy, obedient and tradition-bound.  Therefore, the family tradition is maintained through them. For such obvious reasons the eldest child is honoured to occupy the respectable place in the family and it is he who maintains the heredity.  A special variety of cake (Pitha) is prepared  on this occasion called ‘Enduri’. The cake is offered to the Goddess of Sathi and then taken  by all the members of the family. Besides,  other cakes like Haladi Patra Pitha, Khiri (a delicious sweet dish), etc. are also prepared on  this festival by the women folk of the family.  In the temple of Lingaraj at Bhubaneswar, the festival is observed with great devotion. On this day the representative deity of Lingaraj, “Chandrasekhara” is taken out in a temple .
SOCIAL CAUSE OF PRATHAMASTAMI & ‘ENDURI PITHA’ : The social significance of this festival is that the first-borns are brighter and it is ultimately they who take up the burden of the family after the death of the parents.
