"Dina, dear. Nice of you to finally show up," he says, voice oil slick and smirk secured on his face. Dina rolls their eyes.

Michael had been the one to put her in dance classes when she asked. She doesn't think Michael knows she remembers that, the way his barely larger hand had held onto her own when she asked him to dance with her.

The Osmond siblings are all completely fine with high profile or formal events; they've gone to them their entire lives whenever their father wanted to show them off. His son the astrophysicist, his daughter the doctor, you know how it is. The Sauer family (including Frankie, Jason, Chansey and Caleb, despite none of them being Sauers technically) are all lower middle class, so formal events are Hard, you know? You have to be your best self for an entire evening. That's terrifying.

Well, Michael is an astrophysicist and all of his younger siblings either idolize him or centered their entire moral compass around him, so the Osmonds like the stars. Daniel also likes watching clouds. It gives him inspiration for baking, don't ask me how. Caleb likes it once he meets Michael; looking at the sky made his mom feel sick, so he's never done a lot of it, but Michael loves stars and space and exoplanets so much that you can't help but look up and try to find them with him.

The windows of the penthouse don't open, so none of the Osmonds sleep with their windows open. Frankie probably did when she was younger, but now that they have consistent air/heat, she probably doesn't. Jude definitely sleeps with his window open. Cole is a closed window sleeper, can't stand the noise. Eva fluctuates depending on season. Caleb probably sleeps with the window closed. There's more characters, obviously, but that's where I'm gonna cut myself off.

Dina has a playlist for every occasion, makes playlists for people based on their vibes and what songs remind her of them, and has countless dance playlists. She loves music.

7. What is your deepest joy about writing?

The sensation when you're writing that you've expressed this feeling exactly as you wanted to. That really gets me.

17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.

so not a lot of the tangoverse goes unexplored because of the section called the mirror system, which is 20+ books about all of the side characters you're introduced to in the first seven. my best friend's favorite of the stories i'm telling here isn't until the 19th or 20th book.

i have birthdays and zodiac signs planned out for every single character. even jude sauer's abusive dad. his name is noah and his birthday is november 29. all of them get a birthday.

i gave two characters my birthday. they're twins; no it is not the osmond twins. it's Jeremiah Thatcher and Azazel Fevre. they have different last names for plot reasons. the osmond twins are born on may 25. they're geminis <3

this 25+ book wip was originally a fanfiction for the cw's supernatural. my sister is the one who looked at it and was like. this is no longer fanfiction. this is its own thing. turn it into novels instead.

Caleb was originally the main character. (Michael's soulmate, Michael who is the main character of the seventh book)

midnight rain and karma for the midnights ask

🌧 midnight rain : are they a morning bird or night owl? sunshine or rain?

I decided to do all seven Osmond siblings. No one can stop me.

Michael is definitely a morning bird, but also a definite preferrer of rain.

Sariel is a night owl through and through, but prefers sun.

Raziel is a night owl that prefers rain.

Daniel would like to say he's a morning person, but he's actually, like, a mid afternoon person? He prefers sunshine.

Camael moved to London of his own volition. King likes rain. He's also a night owl.

Sedakiel is a mid afternoon girlie who loves the rain.

Dina likes to say she's hardly a person at all, though she's more acquainted with 3am than, say, 6am. She likes rain.

🐱 karma : what tropes do your ocs fit in?

This time I'm only doing Jude Sauer (not mentioned til the second book of the tangoverse) and Sedakiel Osmond. Again because no one can stop me.

Jude: tragic backstory, the fighter, the caregiver, the addict, emotionally repressed, love interest, stand-in parent.

Sedakiel: tragic backstory, obscenely rich, the hedonist, the innocent (in stories not his own), nature lover, narrator, truth-seeker.

Carbon Monoxide: What would send your character into a blind panic?

Doing all seven Osmond siblings bc no one can stop me <3

For Dina, a bad text from Sedakiel would make her leave her current location and find him immediately. They're twins. He's the most important person in her life and he always will be.

For Sedakiel, he doesn't really do blind panic unless he's having a meltdown, so getting overwhelmed? I guess? Sends him into the closest thing he gets to a blind panic.

For Camael, he pretty much lives his life at an anxiety 8 (on a scale from one to ten), so the most minor thing going wrong could make him have an anxiety attack. Love him to pieces but he is not prepared for most situations.

For Daniel, anything going wrong with the business, or anything that's ailing one of his siblings- Dina had mono once and he played nursemaid the entire time. He was 14 at the time.

For Raziel, Raz has a stone cold grip on her panic at all times, but it's always there. Like Camael, she's probably at an anxiety 7 or 8 pretty much all the time, but unlike Camael, she's a doctor, and when she starts getting symptoms of an anxiety attack, she knows exactly what is happening and she gets mad about it. Sometimes, it's easy to stave off an anxiety attack if you get pissed off about it.

For Sariel, he'd lose it if anything happened to Michael. Things happening at The Cage (his nightclub), he can handle that, but not Michael. Michael has been his rock his whole life and it terrifies him that something could happen to his big brother. Not that he would ever say anything to that effect.

For Michael, Mikey has probably been having a prolonged anxiety attack since he was ten years old. He doesn't go into blind panic, he goes into organization mode- nothing is unfixable, there is nothing in this world that he can't do something about. Even when his father dies, Michael organizes the funeral, he contacts the executor of his father's estate, he compensates Amos's assistant for her discretion, all of it.

3. which ocs can, and do, go days without sleeping?

When Daniel's working on his business model for the Honeybeestro, he definitely doesn't sleep for several days. Michael does it but he doesn't notice, genuinely does not notice he's been awake longer than most people would be able to. Sariel tries to because he's jealous Michael can, but falls asleep after 20 hours.

34. which ocs are clumsiest? which ocs are graceful?

Dina's really graceful when she's dancing but very clumsy when she's not. Michael is probably the most graceful of his siblings, Sariel is probably the least graceful. Yes, Sariel takes a lot of Ls. He deserves them.

Sedakiel is also kinda clumsy but it's equilibrium and autism related, so nobody makes fun of him like they do of Sariel. Sariel just doesn't look where he's going.

Do your characters have pet names they like to use for others?

Dina calls everyone babe.

Sedakiel doesn't really get nicknames unless he completely converts to calling someone by that. He's a one or the other kinda guy.

Camael calls everyone darling. He's obnoxious (affectionate).

Daniel calls everybody by a variety - he calls his siblings shortened versions of their names (Di, Kiel, Cam, Raz, Sari, and Mikey), but with other people it's usually something like sweet pea, shnookums, baby boy, you know how it is.

Raziel does not do nicknames. Full stop. She's anti nickname. Daniel calls her Raz and he's the only one she doesn't scowl at when that comes to pass.

Sariel is a lot like Daniel, or rather Danny is a lot like him; many of Daniel's social actions are a sweetened version of Sariel's, so Sari says a lot of the same things as Danny does but with open vitriol and vicious glee.

Michael is delighted by nicknames but unsure of how to employ them, so he never uses them himself. His siblings thought he hated nicknames. His soulmate is the only person who ever actually asked about it.

Changing Sariel, Daniel, Raziel, Sedakiel, Camael and Dina's names, and becoming so comfortable with them that their old names sound weird, almost.

Also, all of Sariel's shit that keeps coming out of the woodwork like I put it there.

I really have so many thoughts about the hunter turned werewolf guy who joined a pack for his wife and has little werewolf babies and is a dentist and has the most complex character romance portrayed on supernatural and yet has the least screentime to show it, like DJ Qualls and Sarah Smyth put their whole collective pussy into that and frankly no notes. however, the writers could have shown me more garth. i would have liked to see it.

and finally, on sariel

amanda krondarling did me dirty by making me think this much about sariel osmond. i didn’t blank out “they got done DIRTY by fans” yet but you know the fan takes on sari are gonna be bad, mands. also, sari’s piercings and accessories being semibased on what i have and wear + me saying “they are so cool looking” is such a mermoment. i SHOULD be scared of sariel if i met him irl (he has killed ppl), however, i know he’s a little blanket baby. i know him. i’d tell him i know stuff he doesn’t know about his siblings and i’m willing 2 tell him and we’d be besties i think. a little murder never hurt anybody. he’s blorbo from my brain what can i say.

however, u and kae (my sister, for the uninitiated) have valid opinions on sari, so other people CAN be right about him. sometimes.

despite the fact that he is named after an angel, and despite the fact that his father writes stories that are based off of christianity (or judaism, or islam, something with a menagerie of angels that he couldn’t get past reading the first sex scene of; it seems even he has his limits), sariel has most recently compared himself and the elder lot of his siblings to greek mythos. there’s just something more... romantic about it, though that would be the wrong word, and he’s sure sedakiel would know the correct one. what a way with words their littlest brother has. if he can only find his voice to use them. 

most young boys probably see themselves in heroes. sariel, diving into mythology books headfirst when the silence is too loud to cast itself out, sees himself in the forgotten. 

michael is atlas, and so he carries a staggering burden on his shoulders that others may or may not see. sariel sees it in glances, sees the nights that michael spends tucking the smaller ones into bed and his older brother’s shaking hands, sees the way that he is desperate for something, but no matter how long he sits by his brother’s side, no matter how long he attempts to bogart michael’s attention, wait out his impertinent silence, michael never shares the weight. though it would surely be a relief, he keeps it to himself. he and michael still hold hands when the other children don’t require more of michael’s attention. it’s rare these days. 

raziel is prometheus, a name literally meaning forethought; raz is the only person one in the family who has had a mind for a career path their entire life through. he hates it when sariel calls him raz, though he tolerates it when daniel does it. he and raziel spit insults back and forth even when sariel does not mean to let them forth, vitriolic and sharp, and he knows when he has hit a soft spot in raziel’s armor. he knows because that is when daniel comes between them, says something so terribly daniel of him, and all is forgiven, simply because daniel said the very last word. this is true of most any form of teasing. none is granted except the exalted word of the forgiven brother, the angel, their beloved, their dear, their daniel. 

daniel is epimetheus, hindsight, the afterthinker, their gentleheart, their fool. as awful as it has always been, sariel has always loved him for how easy he was to move to tears. he’s never had to wonder if daniel cared. he remembers when he and michael were moved to a separate nursery when he was six and daniel was five, the way that daniel clung to his fingers and his big eyes welled up with tears, and as much sariel was upset by the sight, he was a little glad of it. his little brother’s chubby fingers grabbing onto his, sticky, begging him to stay, daniel always wants to stay in the past. he wants safety and sariel in the same room like unsettled bedfellows, and no one knows how to tell him how quickly that age is coming to an end. 

and sariel. sariel is menotius. doomed might. menotius comes from “menos” meaning might or power, and “oitos,” meaning doom, pain. he thinks a lot about that - pain, that is. to have a name derived directly from it. moon of god, light of god, that’s what sariel means, but what does it mean? how can he be a light (and of what god?) when he’s so dark inside? so empty? menotius was killed by zeus with lightning during the war of the titans, sent to tartarus, forgotten. even his rule is a supposition, an assumption based off of his name, rather than any sort of recorded knowledge: titan of violent anger and rash action. sariel isn’t an idiot. he knows that finding himself in the titan says more about him than it does about the story. 

doesn’t mean he’s going to stop seeing the resemblance.

the thing about sariel osmond is that i made him up and yet i’m still not sure how he got so fucked up 

like i made him up and he immediately got away from me, slipped between my fingers, he’s a slippery thing 

he’s just a really hard character to pin down. like he doesn’t have a soulmate. and that’s alright, a lot of people don’t have soulmates. but he has a one-sided soulmateship, and his relationship with michael always leaves him wanting as he’s getting older and michael has more responsibilities (because michael is his big brother, michael was his best friend once, michael was his everything once, his whole life in an apartment at the top of the world), and sariel turns to worse and worse things to try and fill this gaping maw inside of himself and nothing fills it. nothing helps. he’s empty and only getting emptier as he gets bigger and older and he’s supposed to get wiser but sometimes he thinks he was at his wisest when he was nine years old, before michael took the world on his two shoulders, because if michael is atlas, perhaps he is menoetius. doomed might. pride. hubris.

latest summary of the osmond siblings 

Michael Osmond, eldest, cis man, he/him, biological child of Amos Osmond, primary caregiver of his siblings, eventual observational astronomer. 

Sariel Osmond, one year younger than Michael, unspecified nonbinary, he/him, biological child of Amos Osmond, often a bitchy antagonist of his younger siblings/hoarder of his older brother’s attention though he does have a large protective streak, eventual gang leader (his rebellious nature takes several forms). 

Raziel Osmond, two years younger than Michael, trans woman, he/him til 17, she/her once she comes out. Adopted, closest with Daniel as a child, Michael as a teen, and Sariel as an adult. Eventual professor of medicine after graduating high school early to pursue higher education at an expedited rate. 

Daniel Osmond, also two years younger than Michael, cis man, he/him, biological child of Amos Osmond, best friends with Raz, true mediating middle sibling, can’t stand it when people fight, gets in the worst fight with one of his siblings planned on screen, eventual bakery/café owner. 

Camael Osmond, four years younger than Michael, cis man, he/him, biological child of Amos Osmond, noticed a long time ago that he was an odd man out among his siblings and got the hell out of dodge. Eventual fashion designer and, basically, socialite, as he’s the only Osmond sibling extroverted and even tempered enough to stand that social scene. 

Sedakiel Osmond, five years younger than Michael, trans man, he/him, transitioned at a very young age. Adopted, twin of Dina, before Camael asked to be sent to boarding school, Sedakiel was probably closest with him. After, it’s just him and Dina and Daniel. As a teen and young adult, Sedakiel works with plants, but he’s eventually employed as a high school history teaching aide, and then a history teacher. 

Dina Osmond is also five years younger than Michael, obviously, genderqueer, started using she/they at 15 or so, rebellious against Michael and expresses it through never being in the penthouse during her teen years. She and Sedakiel can practically read each other’s minds, and that doesn’t go away as they get older. Eventual holder of a master’s degree in psychology, which she uses to practice, you guessed it, psychology.
