Breakfast Poems
I.
[Albert York]
When you came, you were like red wine and
honey,
And the taste of you burnt my mouth with its
sweetness.
Now you are like morning bread,
smooth and pleasant.
I hardly taste you at all for I know your savour,
But I am completely nourished.
— "Decade" by Amy Lowell
II.
[Sarah Sedwick]
Today the lesson is in the little black leaves
floating freely in the tea, loosened
from their bag. How quickly things come apart—
things I wish would stay intact.
And yet I drink from the dark cup
and find joy in the bold, citrusy warmth.
Though it's messy, though the bits catch
in my teeth and tickle my throat,
though it isn't what I would have wanted,
neither has it ruined the pleasure of bergamot,
the sharpness of lemon, the flavour of acceptance, of morning.
— "Earl Gray" by Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer
III.
[Craig Stephens]
At lunchtime I bought a huge orange—
The size of it made us all laugh.
I peeled it and shared it with Robert and Dave—
They got quarters and I had a half.
And that orange, it made me so happy,
As ordinary things often do
Just lately. The shopping. A walk in the park.
This is peace and contentment. It’s new.
The rest of the day was quite easy.
I did all the jobs on my list
And enjoyed them and had some time over.
I love you. I’m glad I exist.
— "The Orange" by Wendy Cope

Still Life Recreation
This painting is called “slices on blue” by Sarah Sedwick, an Artist from Cleveland, Ohio. To recreate this image I got a product stand and placed down a blue sheet of A3 paper for my background and placed my subjects accordingly.
I used a studio light to light up the left side of the still life but then I found that the right side turned out too dark so I used a white piece of card as a fill board to help light up the other side. below is my lighting set up.
This is my final image I brought it into photoshop and used the spot healing brush tool to get rid of the dust spots that were caused by the camera. I also slightly changed the colour of the back drop as it looked a but too purple and not blue enough.
