hmm i would love to take the easy route and just say viktor but ugh things have been boiling in my brain and i need to let it out.

i feel like arcane as a show has been beautifully done, whether accurate to the game or not, and i see little to no faults with the story's plot or characters' developments. it's one of those stories that despite having protagonists and antagonists, neither side is right or wrong, and you can never truly hate a character.

jayce's whole character arc the young aspiring hero thrust into politics, the power blindsiding him from his true ambitions, and then having his judgment clouded by fear after touching the arcane.

jinx and the way her trauma completely changed the course of her life and how from time to time she'll switch back and forth. like a wild card, i found myself always on edge wondering when she might become powder again or vice versa.

mel and her family history and how at first she was just portrayed as a leader figure and love interest but over the course of the show became so much more than that regarding her lineage and true powers.

caitlyn and how she is young and sturdy until she is blinded by revenge that she sort of becomes a semi-antagonist (her character is actually really fun to dissect) until vi pulls her out of it.

i will go on and on about each character but my braincells are limited at the moment.

overall, i think my favorite character is and has always been viktor ever since s1 when he made his appearance. he started off as a simple zaunite, good for nothing in other people'e eyes, but holding so so much potential in his brain which was able to get him so far as to be beside the dean of the academy.

initially, i liked him for his dry sarcasm and cute face and i liked his dynamic with jayce as people who were different but brought together by their shared love for science and innovation. i never expected the turn that he would take.

honestly his "jesus arc" was just amazing to see. he went from lab partner to - basically - main character. i was awestruck by what he had become and despite all the struggles - leaving his best friend (situationship), already being outcasted, and turning into some magical being - he still decided to go back to his home and save the people there.

like. guys. the kindness of this man.

and yeah yeah there's a little bit of evilness and gayness but that's expected out of any twink forced into the responsibility of the salvation of humanity on his shoulders.

i just rambled on and on and i probably shouldn't have oops but anyways i wanted to say that he was my favorite character but just saying that doesn't encapsulate just how much he means to me.

Viktor’s eyes are blazing honey as he stares into Jayce’s, his hair glowing and luminous, halo-like against his alabaster skin.

His voice is grated but smooth, like a sickly sweet siren song, and Jayce tightens the furrow in his brow as if that would help him from falling prey to it.

“Let us instead do this once again as… partners.”

Jayce shivers under the words but holds his gaze strong, squirming his jaw under Viktor’s—no, the Marionette’s—deceptively gentle grip.

“And… cut! That was amazing boys, let’s take a break!” The director’s voice booms through the megaphone right as the slate claps, signaling the end of that scene.

The calculating smile that was once above him, now furrowed into a gentle concern, a bottom lip jutting out and a hand reaching out. “James, you okay?”

Vincent’s voice broke into the air between them, soft and sweet and normal and nothing like the sick saccharine of the Herald. He had to swallow once then twice before nodding in acknowledgment.

“Yeah, I…” He takes a moment to appreciate this view—Vincent over him, upside down but smiling like always. It’s contagious because he feels the muscles of his cheeks pull up as well, his eyebrows relaxing and jaw unclenching. “It felt so real. You’re an amazing actor, Vin.”

Vincent rolls his eyes and pulls away, sitting on his knees on the wooden block he was on. James would have thought that the man dismissed his comment if not for the champagne pink blush on his cheeks. “Stop it. You know I can’t take compliments.”

James’s smile falls and his eyes widen, his eyebrows dipping. “But it’s the truth?” He says it like it’s the most obvious thing in the world. And it is.

Vincent just laughs and shakes his head.

He reaches out to play with Vincent’s hair. It had been dyed temporarily for this scene since they were supposedly in an “astral plane”, of sorts. They had filmed all the previous fight scenes beforehand, and now all that was left were these tiny in-betweens that would be altered and edited in with CGI.

“Your hair is like starlight.” James says, twirling a short strand of it on his finger. It’s light and soft and how didn’t he realize that blond really suits him?? It’s something of a soothing gesture and Vincent seems used to these by now.

He giggles. “Did you just quote Howl’s Moving Castle?”

James tilts his head. “Huh?” With a smile, Vincent only shakes his head.

“Nothing, silly. I think you’re an amazing actor too.”

And James’s heart swells.
