the righteous woman (and the fallen angel) by anonymous (anna/jo, 947, G) -- what if. what if 4x01 lazarus rising but with jo dying and anna raising her from hell. this fic is the perfect example of why i will forever die on the hill of short fic

lonely for words unspoken by dirtybackroad (ellen/mary, 959, T) -- mary visits ellen before going home to her husband and kids after a hunt. they drink and they talk. there are things they can never have, some they can

lost and found by @roublardise (bela/meg, 1.4k, T) -- bela becomes a demon but her vessels are all wrong. meg is there to help her find the right one. also works perfectly as a demon!bela study

faith undone by @supersapphical (anna/layla, 9k, E) -- layla is slowly but inexorably dying, that is until one angel comes to answer her prayers. truly a staple of sapphicnatural fics. top-tier characterization for both anna and layla, lovely prose, it will change your life .

hunter's daughter by dirtybackroad (mary, 264, G) -- very short and interesting exploration of kid!mary, what it means to be the daughter of a hunter, what it means to be a girl. some really banger lines if you ask me

without mythologies by bellatemple (anna, 3.5k, T) -- really fascinating anna study with some anna/ruby between the lines. it deals with her life as a person and as an angel while reflecting on her relationship with humanity. really good interactions between the characters

remember that summer? by halfweeze (dean&eileen, 3.5k, G) -- not sapphic but it's hands down one of the best eileen characterization i've ever read. explores her and dean's past during stanford!era. very delicate and thoughtful hoh!natural content

jo daily by @mrcowboydeanwinchester (jo, 37k, T) -- a beautiful exploration of jo's life as told through her blog entries from '05. the sapphicnatural fic that completely changed the trajectory of my life. did i mention there's also some jo/cassie .

After her mother's passing, Cassie's grief drove her away from her hometown. Now she moves around the US, visiting any town that might have a story and publishing articles about her travels. Out in California, she hears rumors about a potential haunting but when she goes to investigate, she meets a ghost completely unlike the murderous spirits she's tangled with in the past. This ghost isn't deliberately violent but she is increasingly desperate in her attempts to be heard. Cassie realizes she is in a unique position to try to help this spirit over to the other side except that the more time they spend together, the more the strange connection between them grows.

Mary hates Jody, she realises faintly, as she opens the fridge to a Tupperware stack of neatly-labelled leftovers. Green bean casserole, turkey chilli, maple-glazed pork chops. All homemade, probably. Jody has two kids of her own and Mary’s own kids to boot, a steady job and a good hunting gig and time to mash her own potatoes by hand. All Mary has to show for twenty-nine years is an aborted life of choosing hunting and home at the wrong times for the wrong reasons, a wedding ring she hurled into the woods two weeks after being resurrected, and a decent pussy-eating technique. None of this, technically, is Jody’s fault. But god, Mary hates her for it. or, mary stays with jody after asa's funeral. things get a little complicated

50. Have you ever met an actor from the show? What happened?

I have! Suprisingly a lot actually lmao. I volunteered for a lot of cons back in college and while you have to work an insane amount of hours to get them did get free photo ops with Ruth, Kim, Briana, and a group one with J2 at one Creation con (this was 2014 or 15?) My friend and I also sang with Osric at the karaoke night and let me tag along for her Misha auto (we didn't talk but he signed a Mr. Fizzles puppet she made.)

Outside of Creation, I met Timothy Omundson at a free Galavant cast signing + met Robbie Thompson twice (once at his C2E2 booth and another at nearby university event he was the guest speaker at.) Robbie was the only one I really got to talk to, it's all a blur but I remember talking to him about Orphan Black since he made a reference to it in a SPN episode he wrote (and I'd been doing an Orphan Black cosplay lol.)

sidenote: while I don't support Creation cons anymore, I do think cons are a fun experience and cannot recommend volunteering for other ones enough! you get a free pass + usually still experience a lot of it. C2E2 even paid volunteers (don't know if they still do that but if they do then go go go)

and okay, ONE sapphicnatural ask while I gather fic recs for the others lol.

20. Is there a female character in spn that made you realize you're sapphic?

I had my big gay awakening before spn, BUT Charlie helped a lot by being a much more relatable sapphic character. I didn't dramatically fall in love with a friend or have a homoerotic relationship with a school bully like some TV character coming out story, y'know. I started with fictional crushes like Charlie with Leia and Hermione and worked my way from there. Also nerdy sapphics my beloved (like, Elena from One Day at a Time would've changed my LIFE as a teen tbh.)

...tho S8-S9 was airing right after I came out so Abaddon certainly had an impact by just existing lmaooo.

Hello sapphicnatural cule!! after some vibe checking, I thought we ought to celebrate Femslash February together ✨

This time, I'm proposing an event centered around fanfics, in order to celebrate all that's been written so far.

Instead of settling on one common reading challenge, I suggest we each pick our own reading challenge. That way, we'll all have our own goal and reading list, depending on our individual tastes in fics and how much we'd like to step out of our comfort zone. To add more fun and some group activities, the event will kick off by sharing rec lists (≠ from the reading lists), and end up with taking inspiration from one (or more) of these fanfics to create!!

TLDR: #Sapphicnaturalreads is an event in three parts, taking place through the month of February:
