I haven’t written for a long time because I have been busy with my work, and I was lazy. But now it is time to put pen to (virtual) paper again 🙂 Már régóta nem írtam, mert lefoglalt a munkám, ja és mellesleg lusta voltam. De most itt az ideje, hogy újra (virtuális) tollat ragadjak 🙂

I have already told you in some posts how is life here in the Dominican Republic. It is an amazing country, you can discover here the beautiful beaches (Blue Lagoon & Saona island , Playa Limon – Robinson Crusoe style beach ), the capital (Santo Domingo ), the countryside. But there is much more: I haven’t told you about the Carnival in Punta Cana yet. Ok ok, I know it was a month ago, but it is every year so if you check my pictures, you, for sure, will have the mood to come here next year to see it yourselves. The Carnival was in February in Punta Cana Town (direction airport). There were some parkings in the nearby but we could easily park our car at the Bluemall shopping center and then walekd for 20 minutes to the venue. Of course when it says it starts at 15.00, it really means it starts at 16.30 in the Dominican Republic… and so it was… Már meséltem Nektek milyen az élet itt Dominikán. Ok ok, tudom, hogy 2 hónappal ezelőtt volt, de minden évben megrendezik, tehát ha megnézitek a képeimet, akkor a következő évben, ha ekkor jöttök ide, biztos szivesen részt is vesztek rajta. A karnevál Februárban volt Punta Cana városban, nem messze a repülőtértől. Van a közelben parkoló, de mi könnyebben tudtunk parkolni a Bluemall bevásárlóközpontban, ahonnan aztán gyalog mentünk kb 20 percet a helyszínre. Természetesen, amikor azt mondják Dominikán, hogy 15.00-kor kezdődik valami, ez ténylegesen azt jelenti, hogy 16.30-kor … és így is volt… This Carnival is a bit different from the ones I saw in the Canary islands the past years. I read a lot about it, the main characters are: Ez a karnevál kicsit különbözik attól, amit az elmúlt években a Kanári-szigeteken láttam. El Diablo Cojuelo (The Limping Devil) is instantly recognized because of the exaggerated mask with crazy eyes and big teeth. He wears a colorful suit adorned with small mirrors and ribbons. Los Lechones (The piglets) are the carnival’s leading characters in Santiago — devils in masks that resemble the face of a pig, they carry a whip surprising onlookers with a lash on their buttocks. The lechones dance a style of African dance, swinging their legs side to side. Los Lechones (A malacok) a santiago-i karnevál fő karakterei  – a maszkuk  hasonlít egy disznó arcára, ostort tartanak a kezükben, amivel a bámészkodóknak a fenekére csapnak. A lechones egy afrikai stílusú táncot táncolnak, egyik lábukról a másikra szökkenve.

 Los Brujos (The witches): It was believed that there once were witches living in San Juan de La Managua. Witchcraft was a common practice, hence the name of one of the Carnival troupes from this region. This was my favourite group 🙂 Los Brujos (A boszorkányok): A régiek úgy hitték, hogy boszorkányok éltek San Juan de La Managuában. A boszorkányság szokásos gyakorlat volt, innen ered a neve ezen régió karneváli csoportjának. Ezek voltak a kedvenceim 🙂

Los Pintaos (The painted group) from Barahona parade in painted bodies in various colors, from head to toe. They represent the Maroons–escaped slaves who took refuge in the southwestern mountains of Bahoruco in the 16th century. Then in February 1844 when the Dominican Republic won its independence from Haiti the celebration gained a bigger splendor, because the Dominicans were celebrating their independence too. A Dominikai Karnevál ünneplésének hagyománya a 15. század elejére nyúlik vissza, amikor a keresztény rabszolgatartók megengedték, a rabszolgáiknak, hogy a „vadságot” kiűzzék a testükből. Abban az időben a helyiek móroknak és keresztények öltöztek be. Az 1700-as évek végére a karnevál nagyszabású ünnepség lett a gyarmatokon. Ezután 1844 februárjában, amikor a Dominikai Köztársaság kivivta Haititől a függetlenségét, az ünneplés még nagyobb jelentőséget nyert, mert a dominikaiak ekkor ünnepelték a függetlenségüket is.

The Carnival in the Dominican Republic / Karnevál Dominikán I haven’t written for a long time because I have been busy with my work, and I was lazy.

I have already guided a Blue Lagoon excursion in Crete, saw the Blue Lagoon in Malta and there must be a lot of places called Blue Lagoon, but the real one from the movie is here in the Dominican Republic. Saona is an island South of Hispaniola, it is a popular excursion spot from Punta Cana/Bavaro and Bayahibe. From Punta Cana /Bavaro we went first by bus to Bayahibe which is about 50 kilometers far. From Bayahibe you can go by speedboat, by catamaran, by fishing boats, there are different companies with different possibilities. Már vezettem egy Kék lagúna kirándulást Krétán, megnéztem a Kék lagúnát Máltán, és még biztos, hogy sok hely van, amit Kék Lagúnának hívnak, de az eredeti a filmből itt van Dominikán. Saona szigete Hispaniola szigetétől délre található, egy népszerű kirándulóhely Punta Cana / Bavaro és Bayahibe-ből. Mi Punta Cana / Bavaro-ból mentünk először busszal Bayahibe-be, amely kb. 50 kilométerre van. Bayahibe-ból motorcsónakkal, katamaránnal, halászhajóval lehet tovább menni, különböző cégek vannak különböző lehetőségekkel.

During our excursion we went first by Catamaran to Playa Palmilla. We saw this during the journey: A mi kirándulásunk során először katamaránnal mentünk a Playa Palmilla-hoz (Palmilla tengerpart). A hajóút alatt ezt láttuk:

There is an amazing beach here with turquoise water, white sandy beach, no waves, coconut palm trees and designed sunbeds. It is a real paradise. Not accidently was chosen the area for the ’Blue Lagoon’ movie with Brooke Shields… Itt egy csodálatos strand található türkizkék tengerrel, fehér homokkal, kis hullámokkal, kókuszpálmákkal és különlegesen dizájnolt napozóágyakkal. Ez egy igazi paradicsom. Nem véletlenül választották a “Blue Lagoon” című film Brooke Shields helyszínéül …

Not far from Playa Palmilla is a Natura Pool named the Blue Lagoon, where you can see seastars. Thanks to the tourists in the past, who took out of the water the seastars for a photo, there are less and less. It is called natural pool because the water is about 1 meter deep and crystal clear. Nem messze Playa Palmillától van egy természetes úszómedence, amit Kék-lagúnának neveznek, ahol tengeri csillagokat is lehet látni. Sajnos, köszönhetően annak, hogy a múltban a turisták kivették a vízből egy fotó kedvéért a csillagokat, számuk igen lecsökkent. Természetes úszómedencének nevezik, mivel a víz körülbelül 1 méter mély és kristálytiszta.

Our last stop was at the Isla Saona itself on the Playa Tao. The beach here is also fantastic: you can swim in the sea, take a walk in the sand, relax under the palm trees or drink a Pina Colada from a real ananas… At the end of the day we went back to Bayahibe by speadboat, which is better than by a catamaran because everyone is tired of the sun and wants to go home as fast as possible… Utolsó állomásunk a Playa Tao-nál volt, ami Saona szigetén van. A strand itt is fantasztikus: lehet úszni a tengerben, sétálni a homokban, pihenni a pálmafák alatt, vagy inni egy Pina Coladát valódi ananászban szervírozva … A nap végén visszamentünk Bayahibe-be motorcsónakkal, ami jobb, mintha katamaránnal tettük volna meg az utat, mivel a nap végére már mindenki fáradt a naptól és olyan gyorsan akar haza menni ahogy csak lehet.

For those who are interested in this island here are some pieces of information: Cristopher Colon (Columbus) named this lsla Savona, which is a small town in North Italy. Columbus was born in Genova but worked in Savona for a time. Saona is the biggest island of the country (130 km2) and is in the National Park of the East (Parque Nacional del Este). The National Park is much bigger with Catalina island, with Palmilla and its natural pool and with more than 400 caves and the ocean (430 km2). It is a protected area, there are more than 500 species of plants and there can be found many endangered animals (birds, bats, dolphins) and it is a nestling site for turtles. It was a movie scene (partly) for the Blue Lagoon, Pirates of the Carribbean and a Bounty chocolate commercial. Do you want to see one of he most beautiful island of the Carribean? Then go to Isla Saona 😊 Azoknak, akik érdeklődnek a sziget iránt itt van néhány információ, amit összegyűjtöttem: Kolumbusz nevezte ezt Isla Savona-nak, egy észak-olaszországi kisváros után. Kolumbusz Genovában született, de egy ideig Savona-ban dolgozott. Saona az ország legnagyobb szigete (130 km2), és a Keleti Nemzeti Parkban (Parque Nacional del Este) található. A Nemzeti Parkhoz sokkal nagyobb terület tartozik Catalina szigetével, Palmillával és természetes medencéjével, több mint 400 barlanggal és az óceánnal (430 km2). Ez egy védett terület, több mint 500 növényfaj van itt és számos veszélyeztetett állat (madarak, denevérek, delfinek) található, és fontos teknősfészkelő hely. A Kék-lagúna, a Karib-tenger kalózai és s Bounty csokireklám egyes részeit is itt forgatták. Szeretnétek látni az egyik legszebb szigetet a Karib térségben? Menjetek el Isla Saona-ra 😊
