I just think Teal’c would love the NORAD Santa Tracker. Military personnel being used for good in the community and to give people (and specifically children) hope? He’d eat that up after so many years serving false gods who used military might for intimidation.

He’d also definitely volunteer SG-1 to work the call center.

LET'S DO THIS, MY FELLOW BELIEVERS IN SANTA! It's that magical day again, for us to keep an eye on our favorite fat red man with presents via NORAD Tracks Santa! 

Here’s your yearly history lesson about this merry tradition:

In 1955, a Sears department store placed an advertisement in a Colorado Springs newspaper telling children that they could telephone Santa Claus on Christmas Eve.  But the phone number for the “hotline” had a typo in it and calls from excited kids went to Colorado Springs’ Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD) Center instead. Colonel Harry Shoup responded by telling children that there were signs on the radar that Santa was on his way south from the North Pole.  Colonel Shoup also told his staff to give all children who called in a “current location” for Santa Claus. A tradition began which continued when NORAD replaced CONAD in 1958.  And it’s been going on for OVER SIXTY-FIVE YEARS!  

As of right now on the tracker (8:11 am EST), Santa is flying over the Pacific Ocean in his open sleigh, and he and the reindeer have already delivered 767k gifts!  DO YOUR BEST, SANTA!  PLEASE SPREAD YOUR JOYFUL MAGIC FOR 2024!! WE NEED IT!!!

Meanwhile, NORAD’s Santa-spying tech can also be used as a fun way to learn more about the world, since its map pops up new links to Wikipedia articles and photos–and sometimes little videos–for locations Santa visits! Check it out!

HO HO HO PUPS AND PEOPLE

Christmas is now around the corner (says the artist who didn't finish the Halloween requests yet lol), so why not celebrate between the Paw Patrol fandom too? And while at it, make sure to join the Paw Patrol Community here on Tumblr, if you haven't yet!!

For this Christmas project, I ran some ideas with @cottoncandyswirl828 and now we bring to you the Secret Pup 2024, our own version for an online Secret Santa!

How does it work?

First, no physical gifts are needed. We won't be sending physical goodies to each others - internet safety and all, don't go around sharing addresses or whatever!

Only "Digital" gifts allowed. There are many ways we can do that, the most common are fanarts, but it doesn't need to be necessarily that! You can work some short story, or a poem, some screenshot edits, a fancam (is that how those short videos are called?) or maybe even gift a Paw Patrol game on Steam for your Secret Pup 😂 (in the case someone wants to give a Steam gift, I'll go collecting the Steam usernames from everyone participating so no one will know who got who anyway). There are several possibilities!! Just try to give your best on what you do and it'll be alright!!!

To join the fun-filled gift sharing party, you just need to answer and submit to the forms below and that's it. Leave your DMs open!!! I'll be drawing the usernames and DMing you on who's your Secret Pup on November 30th, so you'll have a little over one month to work on your idea for your Secret Pup.

DON'T PUBLISH YOUR GIFTS UNTIL THE DUE DATE!!! We'll publish everything on January 5th, after we're all done with being busy about Christmas and New Year celebrations XD That'll be a very nice way to start our new year, don't you think?

I love the little Live Feed there on Google Santa tracker because it tells us nothing. Zero relevance to the places where Santa actually is, and also it's still images.

I just saw two post in a row- one was about NORAD Santa Tracker and the other was about The Stargate... both of which were housed IN Cheyenne Mountain 7 miles from where I sit!

NORAD Santa Tracker headquarters has moved about 5 miles the other direction to Peterson Space/Air Force Base.

It's been about 10 years since I've been able to ask anyone who works in the mountain about The Stargate, but I have had 3 students whose fathers were stationed in the mountain- 2 U.S.A.F Officers and one Royal Canadian Air Force officer. When I asked, all 3 smiled and said, "I'm sorry, but I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of alien technology inside the mountain."
