basic sypnosis is that attley is a demon scythe who fletch is trying to make one of the very few death scythes but they often have a hard time working together and are sometimes at odds. MEANWHILE the scarecrow (a fucked up kind of homunculus race created by witches) r trying to revive the last to be able to feast on the souls of the innocent etc etc

fletch is trying to figure out the disappearance of his dad while attley is trying to run from their past

@trackalaka yooooooooo big fan of your work but i have some assorted constructive criticism for you :] just some things you might want to take into account in your work going forward. i am a white person so take this with a grain of salt but most of this was pointed out by a friend of mine who is a poc and who is also far more familiar with your work than i am so such is at it goes:

you seem to have had a habit of drawing poc with white features (up until recently, which is a improvement) however one of the only characters that has them is a black woman with vitiligo that is a violent werewolf and happens to have a backstory of murdering another (lighter skinned) character's boyfriend and traumatizing her, which reinforces the racist sterotype that black women are violent and out-of-control monsters. it would be good to keep a close eye on how you portray characters of color, especially darker skinned ones, in your work going forward.

in sanity circus, fletch is the first main character of color introduced, and he is introduced by kicking attley (the white main character) in the face and then yelling at her, which sets him up as the angry poc stereotype. he is only colored with darker skin tones and is racially ambiguous along with his father (a man of color) being killed onscreen, which is used to push attley (who is, again, white)'s tragedy.

in addition to that, nimbus, who is also a character of color, is initially portrayed as cowardly and is drawn with a thin nose, blue eyes, and straight hair even though he's dark skinned. also, the string quarter, who are all darker skinned, are portrayed as violent and aggressive to white and white-coded characters like posey, attley, and steven.

outside of your own work, it has also been noticed that you continually ignore drawings of attley as a person of color in favor of interacting with ones where she's white, even when they're significantly less detailed.

INNNN conclusion: none of this is to say that you actively mean harm to people of color, or intend to represent them negatively in your work, but it's good to be aware of things you might not realize you're doing, espeically when they're perpetuating harmful sterotypes or beliefs. take this criticism into account and make an effort do better in your work doing forward, as is your responsibility as a content creator. thank you and have a good day!

I got the OK from Windy @trackalaka to post the chapter illustration I did for the Sanity Circus book! This is one of my favorite scenes from the comic (because I always love a good worldbuilding session) where Fletch tells Attley about the Scarecrow at Bee’s apartment, and then Attely tells him she thinks her parents are mobsters. Why? Because that would be cool, that’s why! Duh.

I wanted to add some more period-specific details to Bee’s apartment so I did a bunch of google searching for images that I liked! The fantasies as imagined by the characters are based off of old movie posters.

Thanks to everyone who helped out in the Sancirc kickstarter! Because then I get to see my image in print, hehe.
