So.... is there going to be any relationship fallout in your latest fic? It seems entirely opposite of sandyfin’s latest work which seems to ruin the happy ending. But compared, yours feel somewhat contrived. Eddie is great but not a saint. She can’t be patient forever no matter her intentions. Will her understanding run out? Seems unfair for her to play second fiddle to Jamies baggage for so long. He has a lot to work out for himself but needs to care for Eddie too. Will they balance out soon?

Ha! Yes, I did notice Sandyfin and I galloping off in opposite directions. One of the many things I love about this place. As for this piece, it’s entirely Jamie’s PoV, so he only sees Eddie’s outward behaviour, filtered through his own perceptions. It’s only the very first day he’s talked about it, too. And no, she certainly can’t be patient forever.

@ the anons I've received expressing kind words for sandyfin, I can't speak for her, and I'm not going to post all the asks. But it's nice to read how you enjoyed her fics and all she contributed during her time in the fandom. I feel the same way. Thank you for taking the time to send messages. 😊

Sandyfin had named eddies mom Lena, that’s her name on the show now, do you think that is coincidence or B.B. reads fan fics?

Great question. I have no idea, but if I was a network writer, I’d be all over fanfic related to my show, to see what people were ruminating about - and to nod to those I thought had awesome ideas! It would be both hilarious and frustrating to see your upcoming ideas “scooped” by fic writers, and to wonder how much you could include them in the actual script...and I’d be constantly wrestling with myself to not get into deep discussions with fic authors.

Here’s a bittersweet story of how these worlds have collided before.

In 2001, a fan named Leyla Harrison, a highly talented writer of X-Files fan fiction, died from melanoma after a long struggle with the disease. The Scully character had a lengthy cancer storyline on the show (for which Gillian Anderson won the Emmy that year) around the same time as Leyla was first diagnosed. Many of Leyla's stories, but certainly not all, were Scully point-of-view narratives as the character came to terms with the diagnosis and what the cancer was doing to her life. These stories are beautifully told, and I'm sure full of Leyla's own firsthand experiences, which makes them even more poignant. Just after she died and right before David Duchovny left the show for good, the episode "Alone" was aired, featuring Special Agent Leyla Harrison, who was named in her honor as a tribute. Appropriately, the Agent Harrison character was full of X-Files trivia and obscure references, just like a real-life fan of the show.

I hope you are continuing to remind sandyfin how much she is missed around the fandom, while all her fans have tried to tell her so, your opinion must matter as her personal fried more than ours, please keep asking her to return her writing when she is ready, thank you

For anyone keeping up with the current hacking/plagiarism issue affecting one of the beloveds of the BB community, a Sunday update:

In response to my final comment on That Story, in which I laid out the very simple steps to resolution (or deal with being booted off the site by legit means) the hacker sent me a message that said “No thank you”. No denial, no excuses, just that.

The original writer has let me know that I can go ahead and start the formal plagiarism complaint writeup, since she’s unable to access her FF account at this time. Meanwhile, others have asked me what they can do, so I am suggesting that everyone make use of the “Report Abuse” -- “This story was written by someone else” options under the “Action” button beside the Review text box.

ETA: I MEAN REALLY, who plagiarizes fanfic in a tight community that celebrates justice and moral decisions??

Further edit: Looks like the hacked story has been taken down now. And oooh! I’ve been blocked by a hacker! This person is now using the handle “Sandyfiin”. Is that four handle changes in one day? This person needs to step away from their unhappy attachment to whatever the heck they’re doing and get some fresh air.

Further edit: Has anyone taken screenshots of this recent event and the ones prior to it? I am sorry to say that Sandyfin’s original account now only has two stories attached to it. The account the hacker is using has none, though it it still active. I wish I hadn’t had to be at school all day. I tend to go full-bore-forensic-justice on things like this and I’d have been screenshotting like mad. I know Alice Blue had had experience with this person before.

I am not sure what more we can do with this episode unless this creature tries again, in which case, SCREENSHOT EVERYTHING. And meanwhile, document everything you can remember about previous events. Alice had left a good summary of previous names and interactions on one of the comments, for instance, but it was deleted with the story.

I don’t. As far as I know, sandyfin has moved on and does not plan to continue it.
