On this day in 2005 Destroy All Humans! was released on the Xbox Original and PlayStation 2 in North America (Europe and Australia: 24/06/2005). You play as the alien, Cryptosporidium 137, from the Furon Empire who has come to Earth to extract human DNA that will be used for cloning the Furon people. Constant war with other life forms and a heavy reliance on nuclear weapons have left the Furon species infertile and without gentiles. Facilitating the need for human DNA that coincidently happens to contain reminisce of Furon DNA. The game takes place in the 1950s and is a parody of the values, culture and politics of the time. You travel to a number of locations to complete missions in fictional settings and collect that all precious DNA for the brain stem of humans. The game was met with positive reviews across the board (Metacritic: Xbox- 76%, PS2, 74%). The general consensus from the media was that the level design and destructible environments were highly commended as was the story which contained humor and satire to tell an engaging tale. The game was later released for the PlayStation 4 through the Online PlayStation store. Many sequels were spawned after the success of the original game, however, in this gamers opinion, the original is my best. #OnThisDayGaming #ThisDayInGaming #VideoGameHistory #TodayInVideoGames #VideoGamesToday #GamingHistory #Developer #Publisher #DestroyAllHumans! #DestroyAllHumans #Xbox #XboxOriginal #PlayStation #PlayStation2 #THQ #PandemicStudios #LocomotiveGames #SandblastGames
