Kankuro has surprisingly, very decent development for a "Naruto side character tm." If anyone were to ask me, I'd say he's even better-written than some fan faves like Temari or Neji. Very hot take, I know. I could make a post about why I think Neji was done dirty, and he could've been better (same with Hinata), but in short, it is cause he decides to change his view on life and destiny after losing to Naruto in the chunin exams, but on paper...... it's just empty words. We never actually see him applying his new beliefs that destiny isn't written. We only ever see him training Hinata, and when he's chosen by Hiashi to lead the Hyuga clan in the war arc, he looks surprised. Like he didn't expect himself to be chosen for the role, despite being the most qualified. This shows that deep down, he still viewed himself as the lowly secondary branch member and Hinata and her dad and sister as the superior branch. The fact he always kept calling her "Hinata-sama" also proves this: how much superior he believes her to be, when that shouldn't be the case. She's younger than him, weaker than him, and in the shinobi ranks, is ranked lower than him; she's a chunin he's a Jounin. It makes no sense that he kept referring to her as "sama" other than him still believing in his clan's rotten hierarchy. Even if he'd just stopped calling her that and started calling her simply Hinata or 'younger sister', it would've been way better because it'd show he no longer believes her to be superior to him.

I've ranted for long enough, on a post that's supposed to be bout Kank, but yeah: Neji is a very frustrating character. Don't hate him, I can see the wasted potential, and it just makes me mad, lol.

I love the idea of how Kankuro changes from being rather laid back about people talking about Gaara to snapping and getting right into their faces with a "what did you say about my little brother? Say it to my face."

It just shows that he is seeing that Gaara won't go against people talking about him badly. And he gets protective, Because he is so proud and glad that Gaara is better now. So he will protect Gaara from what the sand shield can not block.

funniest part of ray trying to tally up of sand's 20 side hustles and make sense of it is that while part of it is just him being genuinely intrigued by sand, it also seemed like there was the rich boy part of of him that's genuinely baffled by the concept. ray's like, "so you're a singer AND a drug dealer AND a moonshiner and you're STILL poor? jeez, how bad is the economy right now? i wouldn't know"

I’m sorry I have to be the theatre person I am deep in my soul for a moment.

Swept Away on Broadway closing after a month isn’t startling so much as just completely gutting. Broadway hasn’t been the innovator it once was in many, many years. Rent prices are obviously tough in New York, especially the theaters. Sometimes, it feels like the best stuff won’t ever break through in this climate.

We know Broadway theater in New York is very much a tourist’s market, but it pains me to watch incredible shows like Swept Away fall victim to this phenomenon because it really is THAT good. With a score by the Avett Brothers and performances by the best of the best (John Gallagher Jr., Stark Sands, Adrian Enscoe, etc.), Swept Away offered a bright light of hope and redemption in a tense political and cultural climate. I saw it in previews just a few weeks ago, and it was one of the few times a Broadway show broke through to me, a cynical ex-actor, singer, and performer, in a powerful, memorable way. The only other times I’ve ever felt that was seeing Wicked at 14-years-old and Sondheim’s last musical at The Shed in January.

In other words: Life altering stuff.

So, I say all this because I’m sad to see such a powerhouse of talent and storytelling go the way most truly great, niche things on Broadway go. Swept Away, along with so many other one month runs, deserved better. Also, I’ll cross my fingers for a national tour, simply because I know the demand would be there regionally, as a North Carolina-bred fan of The Avett Brothers.

If you’re in New York in the next week and a half, you should try and go see it. You won’t regret it.

Question: Who did you idolize when coming through karting and the junior ranks? Is that driver on the grid today? If so, have you told him? Oscar: I would say I never had one specific idol. When I was growing up watching, Mark Webber was at Red Bull and he is now my manager, which is still weird to say three years working together. But obviously, being Australian, being in a Red Bull that was very quick at the time, I kind of naturally followed him. I mean, even like some of the guys in the junior ranks above me, you know, like Lando was always like two three years above me winning most things on his way up. So, I guess kind of him in some ways
