Vacation-Staycation Eternal Blu-ray Catch-up! The other one of these two samurai films (I don't know why I included both pictures in each), this one is certainly more a film... 🎞️ Chapter 29: Samurai Marathon 🎬 The other film's only tie to reality was the main character was (theoretically) "based on" a real person who was known for his undefeated record in his 61 duels. Samurai Marathon on the other hand is inspired by an actual event that happened (which was also the start of the first marathon in Japan). This Japanese-British co-production is just a much better film, no matter how you look at it. I enjoyed it, and would watch it again (as opposed to the previous, which is a one time watch novelty I think). This one had actual story, and acting, and characters and circumstances you got to know some and care about. Plus is was exciting, and shot well, and not at all as goofy as it's name might sound to us here. A new trailer has been released for Samurai Marathon. No release date was specified.

Inspired by a race still held yearly, Samurai Marathon is an action flick with a samurai twist. When an aging lord challenges his samurai to a grueling marathon—joined covertly by his daughter—the group must overcome deadly odds to survive.

映画『サムライマラソン』公開決定＆特報解禁！

佐藤健、小松菜奈、森山未來、染谷将太、青木崇高、竹中直人、豊川悦司、長谷川博己ら日本を代表する超豪華キャストと、アカデミー賞受賞歴を持つ世界的スタッフが集結し、日本のマラソンの発祥といわれ現在も160年以上にわたり受け継がれている史実、安政遠足（あんせいとおあし）を舞台にした土橋章宏の小説「幕末まらそん侍」（ハルキ文庫）を原作に映画化し、2019年2月22日に全国公開することが決定した。そして、本作の特報映像も解禁となった。 時は幕末、迫る外国の脅威に備え、安中藩主・板倉勝明（いたくら・かつあきら）は藩士を鍛えるため、十五里（約58km）の山道を走る遠足を開催する。だが、この動きが、とある行き違いにより幕府への反逆とみなされ、藩士不在の城に安中藩とり潰しを狙う刺客が送り込まれる。ただ一人、迫る危機を知った男は、計画を食い止めるため、走りだす─。「行きはマラソン、帰りは戦」というキャッチコピーの通り、解禁された特報映像では、それぞれの思いを胸に走る侍の姿や、迫力の剣術アクションなど、スポーツ、アクション、ドラマの要素が盛り込まれた、全く新しい幕末エンタテインメントの片鱗を確認することができる。
