Dangerous Women

Another submission for Samurai of Hyuga week for the theme of Appearances. A drabble about all the kickass ladies in the game. All the most beautiful women are inherently dangerous, even if they don't appear very threatening. That young noble lady with the baby face and wearing red silk. She can summon the elements and take out an army with a slip of paper and a few incantation. A striking Kondo woman with bright green eyes and humbly bowing her head. She's a kunoichi and serves as the Emperor's right hand.She can uncover all your secrets and sins or make you disappear without a trace. The Doctor the apparent ideal of traditional Hyugan beauty, with her long dark hair, wide doe eyes and soft features. She beares the sweet scent of flowers and death around her nearly poisoning an entire city with her opium. A female ronin drinking alone at a bar, mysterious and beguiling. If a man is bold or drunk enough (possibly even both) he might try to flirt; either she'll smile and flirt back or ignore him entirely disinterested. Yet only a fool would completely ignore the sword at her side. Unfortunately many men (and some women too) often make fools of themselves for a pretty face. Just pray that face doesn't peer back at them with golden eyes. This sort woman is the most dangerous of all, fierce, passionate, devoted and single minded. She'll love you with all of her being, but if you're love is lacking she'll do anything to keep you for herself, even if she has to drag the both of you into hell together.

The Sword Who Cuts the Heavens

Aka, that one post about rules and info for the blog.

Welcome to the inn, fellas - you can call me Mod Basho ! And I made this blog because there’s not enough content for this game for me to read at 5 am so bE THE CHANGE I WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD I GUESS. 

So, let’s get this out of the way : this blog is exclusively about Samurai of Hyuga and it’s canon characters !  Bonus points if you make me write for Basho.

There might be content from all books, so tread carefully ! As of December, Book 4 spoilers won’t be tagged anymore since the book has been out for a long time ! 

The Ronin Path

aka the rules of this blog !

I. The askbox is ALWAYS open ! So don’t be shy, feel free to drop by to send prompts, fun facts about anything SoH related or just chit chat with the mod !

II.  You’re free to ask for : headcanons, scenarios/imagines, lists of worst to best hugger, who’s most likely to dab and AUs, as well as continuations or different questions of previous posts ! Basically anything you can think of ! 

The length of the posts depend on the number of characters and inspiration ! Keep in mind that I won’t be asking asks in order either - I reply to whatever catches my eye at the moment.

III. We do not accept : spicy/NSFW themes and prompts, matchups, some darker themes in specific situations (such as rape or self-harm). 

Angst and gore are okay to some extend, considering the nature of the game - if you have any questions about your prompt being valid or not, don’t be afraid to ask !

IV. For any reader insert  / S/O / MC / Ronin related question, we’ll ALWAYS use gender neutral pronouns so everyone can enjoy our content ! Mostly because there’s way too many “Fem!ReaderX[insert character]” types of fanfics out there and we want everyone to feel included. 

The only exception to this are LGTB+ related prompts. Such as : Hatch reacting to the ronin coming out as a lesbian, Toshio comforting a dysphoric S/O, Masashi with a genderfluid friend, etc !

V. The maximum number of characters allowed per prompt is 5 ! With that said, you’re still free to send a new ask with other characters. We mostly write for the main cast, but minor and secondary characters such as Sadao, Nishiki etc are welcome !

And speaking of characters, please use the proper names since a couple of them have counterparts of different genders ! Don’t use Fem!Masashi, Male!Toshie, etc.

Quick speculation on Samurai of Hyuga -- Book 3 spoilers under the cut:

During that scene where the ronin asks the kitsune about the either the source of the Hell’s Release Style or why they were chosen over Jun(ko), I strongly doubt the kitsune was actually able to give them any information they didn’t already know. Obviously the answer they received about the source of power for Hell’s Release was a very blatant “you know why :)))))” but in the case of why Jun(ko) wasn’t chosen, I think it would be very weird if this random fox demon knew more about Jun(ko) than the ronin did. Rather, I think the kitsune knows about as much about Jun(ko) as the ronin. . . 

What I’m getting at is, I think the ronin knew about Jun(ko)’s sexual abuse, and suppressed that memory for some reason -- either because they refused to believe it (which might add to why they feel like they used Jun(ko) themself) or because that abuse was a huge part of their relationship with Jun(ko) (either because they justified Jun(ko)’s actions with it or because they were more aware of what they were doing to Jun(ko).

Needless to say, the kitsune was, as Toshi had pointed out several times, a demon of manipulation but not deceit, too, so I think both the memories of cannibalism* and the revelation of Jun(ko)’s abuse are both real facts the ronin does need to face. I just wish they were doing it with their team instead of striking off on their own. . . . .

*Incidentally, I think the cannibalism is why the ronin takes on the form of a child during their meeting with Masa. Betraying their sensei had to have happened when they were old enough to have had certain rendez-vous with Jun(ko), so whatever Masa was suggesting stopped their mental/spiritual growth had to have happened earlier than that, and the cannibalism isn’t even something the ronin can admit to themself, even though there are hints of it as early as book 1. . . .
