THE PRETENDERS by F. Sionil Jose
(Hi! I’m back again with another tale of cousincest. I’m still mildly amazed that this author is a National Artist for Literature.)
The Pretenders (published 1962) is one of the five novels in the Rosales saga by F. Sionil Jose. I’ve already mentioned other books from this author here and here. Our main character this time is Antonio “Tony” Samson, who grew up poor in the town of Rosales. His father went to jail for killing a hacendero (plantation owner) and burning the municipal building, leaving Tony and his older sister Betty to be raised by their mother, a laundry woman. Unfortunately, she also dies. Betty works hard to send Tony to college. He succeeds and is able to travel abroad, even studying in America where he meets his eventual wife, a rich girl named Carmen Villa. But where’s the cousincest, you may ask? Well, Tony’s not the only one whose education is supported by Betty. The siblings also have a first cousin named Emy, who grew up with them in Rosales and lived with them in the slums on Antipolo Street while they were chasing their dream of college.
Tony and Emy shared a bedroom in the house on Antipolo. For privacy, they hung up a blanket between their sides of the room. Sometimes, they took it down so they could talk to each other. A month before Tony went to America, he got soaked in the rain and caught a cold. It was late at night and he didn’t want to disturb Emy, but she woke up after hearing him sneeze. She helped him get out of his wet clothes and rubbed Mentholatum (a kind of ointment, I think it’s like Vicks) on his back. Then they had sex.
It had happened without preludes as if the moment was something inevitable and expected.
Then Tony goes to America. He writes letters to her, but she replies only once. This leads him to assume that she no longer cares about him. Fast forward a few years, and Tony’s back in the Philippines. He’s excited about his new teaching post at the university and his upcoming wedding to Carmen Villa. Of course, he stops by to visit Betty and her family. They tell him that Emy had a child out of wedlock and refused to say who the father was. She also failed to achieve her dream of becoming a teacher. Tony is not happy about it. Need we say why?
Some time after visiting Betty, Tony goes to see old friends. Charlie and Godo now work for a newspaper. When Tony tells them he’s getting married, they ask if it’s to Emy, whom they remember from previous visits to the house in Antipolo. Tony says no. This is how they respond:
CHARLIE: That’s too bad. Did you fall out of love or something?TONY: It isn’t that, really. But you know how it is; we are cousins.GODO: Oh now, this isn’t the eighteenth century. Don’t tell me that you are still bothered by such taboos. Write a letter to the Pope and he will give you a quick dispensation.
In this house, we stan supportive friends.
Tony still marries Carmen, but not before meeting her parents. Don Manuel Villa, her father, has many businesses. He knows that Tony’s poor, but still finds him interesting. Don Manuel does not like the idea of cousins marrying at all:
Cousins marrying cousins. Incest!…they don’t want their wealth to be shared by strangers. And look what has happened to their children. Nitwits…
I know this is a common sentiment, but it’s just so funny given the story’s theme.
Tony starts teaching at the university, only to leave after a week because he had a falling-out with the dean. Don Manuel offers Tony a job doing public relations work for the Villa company. Tony accepts. He earns more money, lives a more comfortable life, and helps Betty’s family with expenses. But he’s not completely happy. Sometimes, he still thinks of Emy and how she’s doing in their province. He gets an answer when Bettina, Emy’s younger sister, visits him unexpectedly.
Yes, there’s a Betty and a Bettina in this family. We could ask F. Sionil Jose about his naming choices, but he’s dead, so he can’t answer.
BETTINA: She did not want you to know, but she couldn’t hide it from me any longer. Six years—she hid it from everyone. All your letters, all you wrote from America—she kept them all. She reads them and sometimes cries over them.TONY: And what am I expected to do? It’s all her fault. She never told me. I wrote and wrote to her and she never answered—only once and she didn’t tell me.BETTINA: You don’t understand. She was thinking of you. Can’t you see? If she had written, if she had told you—can you imagine what would have happened? You were studying—here was your chance to make something of yourself. Here was your chance to get out of Rosales and get something more than what Rosales could offer. It is that clear, Manong, and you haven’t even realized it.
Tony is shocked. The child is his. Our guy also feels guilty and takes a trip to Rosales. There, he meets Emy, who makes a living by sewing clothes. Tony offers help, but Emy says she doesn’t need it. He says he would’ve hurried home had she written to him, and she says they are cousins. Also:
…it was your studies that mattered most. Then I learned about you and Carmen Villa…I did not want to stand in your way.
Tony offers to bring their son to the city and give him a good education. Emy cuts him off and laments that he’s changed.
You did not talk like this before—you did not mention hunger and money before as if these were all that mattered.
Pepe, the six-year-old son of Tony and Emy, arrives home from school. Emy tells the boy to kiss Tony’s hand, but Tony hugs him and says, “Son—son.” But even as he wants to tell the truth, he can’t.
PEPE: Is he my father, Mama?EMY: No, Pepe. He is not your father. He is a dear, old friend, a relative, someone from this place who thinks he loves all of us…
Tony returns to the city and to Carmen. He admits what happened, but she seems disinterested.
CARMEN: You need not feel so guilty about it, honey. It’s done all the time. Have you meet Nora Lardizabal? Well, she’s married to her first cousin. Oye, you told me once about this being done by the hacenderos in your part of the country…well, it just happens that Nora’s parents are sugar planters. She isn’t a social outcast. She is very respectable.
This is funny, considering her father’s views on the topic. And while we’re talking about fathers—Tony and Betty’s dad dies in prison. Shortly after, Tony’s friend Charlie announces that he’s getting married, so they plan to have a bachelor party with Godo. Tony gets permission from his in-laws and gets it. He, Charlie, and Godo go to a bar. I think Godo speaks for all of us here when he says:
You should have married your cousin, Tony. That was your mistake. You should have carried her off, then lived—just the two of you.
The men have a quarrel (not really about Emy, per se, but other stuff that I couldn’t fully explain here or else I’d be here all day). Tony leaves and goes back to his in-laws, who are hosting a big party at their house. While outside, he sees Carmen with Ben de Jesus, the husband of her best friend Nena. Tony follows Carmen and Ben…only to catch them going to a motel. It turns out that Carmen’s been cheating on him. Enraged, Tony goes back home and packs his things. Carmen shows up again and they fight. At one point, she says:
I imagine you are sorry for yourself. If it were Emy you had married, it wouldn’t have turned out like this.
Would you look at that, guys? Godo hates everything Carmen and her ilk stand for, while Carmen wouldn’t even notice the likes of Godo. And yet they both agree that Tony should have married Emy. Great minds think alike, I guess. Anyway, whatever could’ve happened, this particular story ends badly. Tony leaves Carmen, goes back to Antipolo, and commits suicide by standing in front of a train.
Christ Almighty. These two are tragic. Maybe Tony would’ve stayed poor in Rosales if he’d gone home to be with Emy, but at least they could’ve raised Pepe together. He wouldn’t have needed to hide parts of himself to impress his rich in-laws. I’m also surprised at side characters saying that the incestuous* (your mileage might vary) ending was actually the better alternative. I think it’s more common to see the whole world trying to push the protagonists apart?
*First cousin marriage was actually legal in the Philippines at the time this was published. The current Family Code, enacted in 1987, does not recognize marriages between first cousins, stepparents and stepchildren, parents-in-law and children-in-law, adopted children and legitimate children of the adopter, and adopted children of the same adopter, among others.
--
I love how everyone thinks he should have married Emy.
Wow, so much sadness and pain.
Thank you so much for writing this up and sharing it with us. It’s kind of interesting how it walks the line between cousin marriage being fine and cousin marriage being taboo.

National Authors/Writer's in the Philippines
The term writer has been used as a synonym of author, although the latter term has a somewhat broader meaning and is used to convey legal responsibility for a piece of writing, even if its composition is anonymous, unknown or collaborative. Author most often refers to the writer of a book. Writers produce articles, reports, books and other texts. Writers are paid to write a variety of texts, including books and articles.
List of Filipino Authors/Writer's:
Nick Joaquin (1917–2004)
F. Sionil José (1924–2022)
José Rizal (1861–1896)
Gilda Cordero-Fernando (1930–2020)
Gilbert Luis R. Centina III (1947–2020)
Lualhati Bautista (1945–2023)
N. V. M. Gonzalez (1915–1999)
Nick Joaquin (1917–2004)
Tumblr media
Winning the National Artist award for Literature, Nick Joaquín is probably the most esteemed writer the Philippines has produced. Joaquin came from a well-educated family and was published at the early age of 17. After winning a scholarship in a nationwide essay contest, he left the Philippines to study in Hong Kong.
Nick Juaquin Famous Work
The Woman Who Had Two Navels and Tales of the Tropical Gothic
Tumblr media
On his return to Manila he worked for many years as a journalist, and his highly intellectual writing raised the standards of journalism in the country. Joaquin’s book, The Woman With Two Navels is essential reading in Philippine literature. However many of his short stories, such as “May Day Eve,” are extremely accessible and enjoyable for those new to the Philippines.
F. Sionil José (1924–2022)
Tumblr media
A writer deeply concerned with social justice, F. Sionil Jose’s novels have been translated into 22 languages, and he’s one of the most widely read Filipino authors. Sionil Jose’s Rosales Saga is a five-volume work that follows the Samson family and their changing fortunes over a 100-year timeframe.
F. Sionil José Famous Work
My Brother, My Executioner
Tumblr media
Sionil Jose’s books are especially illuminating for anyone interested in provincial life in the Philippines, the revolution against Spain, and the framework of the Filipino family. His anti-elitist views have made him a somewhat unpopular author within the Philippines, but Sionil Jose’s works are among the most highly acclaimed internationally of any Filipino writer. He won the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Literature in 1980.
José Rizal (1861–1896)
Tumblr media
The Philippines’ national hero was also a prolific writer, poet, and essayist. Jose Rizal’s two novels, Noli me Tangere and El Filibusterismo were social commentaries that sharply revealed the injustices of Spanish colonization while praising the Filipino in his most natural state. The novels, which are surprisingly wry and romantic, crystallized the growing anti-Spanish sentiment and were banned within the Philippines.
José Rizal Famous Work
Noli me Tangere and El Filibusterismo
Tumblr media
The execution of Jose Rizal at 35 years old set off the Philippine Revolution and paved the way for the country’s independence. Even without these dramatic events, Rizal’s books and his final poem, “Mi Ultimo Adios,” stand on their own literary merit, and have influenced scores of Filipino writers.
Gilda Cordero-Fernando (1930–2020)
Tumblr media
Gilda Cordero-Fernando is a multiawarded writer, publisher and cultural icon from the Philippines. She was born in Manila, has a B.A. from St. Theresa's College-Manila, and an M.A. from the Ateneo de Manila University.
Gilda Cordero-Fernando Famous Work
The Butcher, The Baker and The Candlestick Maker
Tumblr media
Cordero-Fernando has two landmark collection of short stories: The Butcher, The Baker and The Candlestick Maker (1962) and A Wilderness of Sweets (1973). These books have been compiled and reissued later as Story Collection (1994). Another book, Philippine Food and Life, was published in 1992. Together with Alfredo Roces, Cordero-Fernando worked on Filipino Heritage, a 10-volume study on Philippine history and culture published by Lahing Pilipino in 1978. Afterwards, she founded GCF Books which published a dozen titles that deal with various aspects of Philippine culture and society. Cordero-Fernando has also worn numerous other hats as a visual artist, fashion designer, playwright, art curator and producer. In February 2000, she produced a hugely successful extravaganza entitled Luna: An Aswang Romance.
Gilbert Luis R. Centina III (1947–2020)
Tumblr media
Gilbert Luis R. Centina III was a Filipino-American Roman Catholic poet who won critical appreciation for his poetry books, novels, and a book of literary criticism. Apart from English, Centina also wrote in two Philippine languages and in Spanish. Over the course of his career, Gilbert Luis R. Centina III won several prestigious awards, including the Catholic Authors Award.
Gilbert Luis R. Centina III Famous Work

#PHnews: 6 hurt; 450 families displaced in Pangasinan due to 'Ulysses'
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) have recorded 450 families or 1,838 individuals who evacuated while six were injured during the height of Typhoon Ulysses in Pangasinan province.
In an interview Friday, PDRRMO emergency operation center manager Ron Castillo said the evacuees were from flooded areas or high-risk zones in the towns of San Fabian, Bolinao, Sual, Infanta, Lingayen, Bani, Labrador, Bayambang, Dasol, Calasiao, Mabini, Aguilar, Rosales, cities of Dagupan and Alaminos.
He said the reported injured individuals were from Infanta town.
“They were conducting road clearing operation when branches of trees fell on them. They sustained injuries and were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital,” he added.
Castillo said there are no longer flooded areas in the province as the flood in Lingayen and Dagupan caused by heavy rains and the high tide has subsided.
“Gale warning is still up in the province as Ulysses is expected to totally exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility this afternoon,” he said.
He added that they are still accumulating data on the damages to agriculture and infrastructure in the province as of Friday morning.
Some houses of residents have been damaged by the typhoon as posted on their social media accounts, while electricity is now restored in most areas of the province.
The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office has also deployed 70 of its personnel to assist in the rescue operations during the onslaught of the typhoon, director Col. Redrico Maranan said.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) have distributed 500 relief packs to evacuees on Thursday.
“We still have 15,500 relief packs ready to augment the relief operations of the local government units,” PSWD officer Emilio Samson Jr. said in a separate interview. (PNA)

Local Artists Showcase Works at Assemblage: Art Festival in Robinsons Galleria Cebu
Tumblr media
Cebu is home to many artists whose works have been acclaimed locally and even internationally.
It does not come as a surprise that more aspiring artists emerge in the local scene to showcase their talents in the arts – from filmmaking, fashion design, painting, and many others.
Tumblr media
Armed with the awareness of Cebu’s treasure trove of local artists, Robinsons Galleria Cebu (RGC) has organized its first ever Assemblage: Art Festival where artists both amateur and veterans can display their talents for the Cebuano community to appreciate.
Tumblr media
Assemblage: Art Festival consists of several activities that have been lined up for the whole month of February, which is also the celebration of the National Arts Month.
Tumblr media
“Robinsons Galleria Cebu has been very supportive of local artists and local talents. We had several events in the mall and have been a partner of numerous organizations, schools, community, civic groups that allow them to showcase their talents in the visual arts, music, dance, fashion and so much more,” said May Adolfo, Senior Regional Operations Manager for Cebu and Eastern Visayas of Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC).
“We always support and have the heart for artists,” she added.
Assemblage was launched last February 17 with the opening of an Art Gallery at the Level 1 of Robinsons Galleria Cebu. It is open to the public until February 29.
Robinsons Galleria Cebu partnered with Stylefirm and DraftGroupe in organizing Assemblage.
On February 24, several exciting activities have been scheduled and dubbed as Art + Fashion Revolution.
Tumblr media
These activities include the Draft Academy Painting Competition, the Art of Film by the Film & Media Arts International Academy, Wearable Art Design Competition, Alazas x Virtucio Fashion Show, and a performance by Route 83.
The celebration continues on February 28 and 29 for Maquillage Masters wherein makeup artists can anticipate an event on makeup artistry with renowned makeup artist Romero Vergara.
Tumblr media
Local artists and designers that are part of Assemblage include AJ Tabino, Ashton Samson, Anne Ruiz, Archie Goc-ong, Casmir Tayag, Cherry Gonzales, Cleanne Padilla, Densen Almeda, Dominic Tampos, Edgardo Palad, Francis Sollano, Gerald Salazar, Gerlynnia Galgo, Govinda Jean, Hady Sabbagh, Hannah Lee, Janot, and Josephus Bartin.
Completing the list are Jave Imperial, Jordan Bayot, Joseph Ong, Karisse Del Rosario, Kian Diong So, Kring Demetrio, Chrishna San Jose, Lito Busgano, Mark Froilan Tabay, Mirai Vanessa, Moanna Tan-Aranas, Rachel Angel Rosal, Stevensonnet, Vanessa Macol, Veronika Hipolito, Vhlademeir Genete, and Zar.

1, 2, 14, 19 for Mr. Samson if he's still around! He's a whole ass mood. 👌
interview my characters
*sidenote! while rosales is still around & a beloved character of mine, all of the writing i've done for him so far is no longer canon to his story! i'm slowly but surely working out how to remake him & his story into a setting of my own. someday i'll probably rewrite what i have published currently, but there's still a lot of reworking to be done --w-- these answers might not be entirely canon to him as a result. also, he does still have amnesia.
1. Please state your full name and occupation.
"My name is Samson Giang Rosales. I am, uh... I don't... really have an occupation. I used to be trapped inside a suit of armor and walked around like a living puppet. Now... I'm just trying to survive, trying to be left alone while I slowly remember who I was before..." he waved a hand, gesturing to himself, "before this."
2. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
"I don't... I don't know anything. Very little about back when I was human. I occasionally dream about stuff that I think is my past, but I can't be sure. Most of the memories of any dreams slip away when I wake up.
"I don't know how old I am. Don't know where I'm from. I do know that I speak English and Spanish––found out about the Spanish recently.
"I know that... whatever was done to me made me this giant... thing. I can apparently turn invisible. I feel like there's more I can do, too, but I almost don't want to find out."
14. Where are you happiest?
Rosales snorts. "I have yet to find a place, literal or metaphorical, where I am happy. The closest I got, I think, was when we found a river. I could actually get a decent drink, and could kinda bathe."
19. Describe an average day in your life.
"Ricky and I spend most of the day––the hottest part of the day––hiding in whatever shade we can find. This is usually when I take a nap to pass the time. Not much else I can do, and Ricky will talk my ear off otherwise.
"Once the sun starts to set, we start to move. We don't like staying in the same spot for very long, so we keep moving, avoiding bandits, monsters, and mechs as best we can. We look for stuff we need––food, water, shelter materials––where we can. I'm not really sure where we're going. I don't have anywhere to go. Ricky doesn't either.
"Most of the time, we keep moving throughout the night, usually until dawn, and then we start looking for more shelter. Truth be told, our days are pretty boring. Most of it is spent walking, or hiding."

LIBEL
is the only tune that the bewildered EVM Administration knows how to sing. And frankly speaking, they are the only ones who don’t realize that THEY ARE EXCRUCIATINGLY OUT OF TUNE!
It makes me wonder if they even bothered to look up its meaning because it can very well be found in many Iglesia Ni Cristo sponsored pages all over the World Wide Web!
Yes, sadly, Libel, which is any Defamation can be seen along with the words “Proud to be INC” written, posted, printed, in effigies, filmed and broadcasted in these Iglesia Ni Cristo social media pages. Not only that- Ministers, officers and official spokespersons are now encouraged to Slander those who pose as threats to the Administration they adore!
Slander, also defined as any defamation that is spoken and heard easily springs out from the mouths of this One With EVM fanatics. Now that you know the difference between the two, it helps to remember that both Libel and slander are collectively known as defamation, that can harm a reputation, ruin confidence or regard; reduce respect; or induct negative public perceptions or hostile feelings against an individual or entity.  Simply put, libel and slander are civil wrongdoings that cause injury to one’s good name through written and spoken words or visual images. Remember these?
How hypocritical! But having the money to sustain these propaganda in their own media outlets, the same money used to file these Libel cases against their most vocal critics, do not, in any way, guarantee their success in court. And not having abundant resources as they have, do not in any way, predicate that their critics (which are the true victims of suppression of free speech) are not telling the TRUTH. And, that has become their “S.U.P.” (SUCK UP PROTOCOL) in an effort to defend the once good name of the church. Suppress, oppress by persecution, and prosecute with Libel cases to SILENCE them and to keep EVM smiling is the ultimate goal. This is the new Staple Food they serve on the table to their unwelcomed guests- Libel Cases with everything including the kitchen sink. Remember these cases hurled against our fellow defenders of the True Church of Christ?

Tulfo Case
Many decided to join the bandwagon of libel suit-filing-spree from the Eduardo V. Manalo church like Resty Lazaro, GP Santos, Zeromsky Pineda, Allen Blair Boy, Wilfredo “Pink” Santos, Serafin Cuevas, Moises Tolentino and Ferdinand Topacio just to name a few. Just recently, Restituto Lazaro has been making waves visiting the District of Southern California to illegally advice (or rather coerce) unscrupulous members (just like him) to file trumped up charges against some of their critics known to be the biggest thorn on their side. But we will feature Resty Lazaro when the right time comes. Everyone knows that he has no license to practice law in the United States. For now, no one stands out in prominence, well, more like a sore thumb, other than the most promising lawyer/minister of the Church in the United States, THE Rommel San Pedro (pronounced as San PAIDro), or “RSP.”
To make sense of his utterly nonsense attempt to suppress Freedom of Speech, especially if it is the truth, please revisit the previous articles that prelude this one:
Published: September 14, 2016 https://incsilentnomore.com/2016/09/14/featuring-o-w-e-rommel-v-san-pedros-3rd-humiliating-defeat-in-u-s-courts/

On May 22, 2017, Rommel San Pedro wrote a letter to WordPress. WHAT!!!??? After 8 long months since I first published his humiliating defeat in the U.S. Courts, he decides to file for Libel! Gosh, how SLOW can you go!
Here’s what RSP had to say to WordPress. Read on…
Please feel free to email or text him to let him know how he is doing at his job. I didn’t know that Rommel San Pedro had any reputation to protect since he has never amounted to anything in terms of jurisprudence, much less as a Minister. I was hoping that he would have something to look forward to or hope for, yet the only prominence he ever gained was when he was appointed as the pathetic attack dog of Eduardo V. Manalo’s Administration. And the only attention he even remotely got was due to his embarrassing blunders and epic fails. Not to mention the tactless gung ho engagement of his mother as a spiritual warrior to defend her bear cub against anyone who criticizes his imbecility. Clearly, we can now see that the rotten apple does not fall far from the tree.
But what does this all prove? That the Administration of Eduardo V. Manalo is “pikon” (sore loser)! That they have all the money to spend, all the time and effort to exhaust, and many blind followers to use in filing all those “copy-paste” libel suits. That they are a force to be reckoned with, and a powerful organization to be feared. But does the filing of libel suits truly dignify or vindicate the current church condition of disarray?
The truth of the matter is, there is nothing dignifying about using a loophole in the justice system (especially in the Philippines) for the sole purpose of vindictive censorship, persecution, and oppression. Yet, it is being abused by the rich, influential and powerful to silence their critics even outside the Philippines.
“A broadly drawn criminal-defamation law is a weapon that can be wielded, not just by the government, but by anyone thin-skinned who has enough money to hire a lawyer.”
And in the Philippines, where libel suits are a dime a dozen, the “thinking Filipinos” and the General Public know this INC tactic all too well.
“The filing of libel cases in different parts of the country, for instance, is an ancient art. On the assumption that an allegedly libelous statement is carried in a newspaper of national circulation or on a television newscast with viewers from across the country or on a website with nationwide reach, a person or organization (or religion) of means can file a libel case anywhere in the archipelago. This loophole in the law has been exploited many times, to harass an enemy, or wear down his defenses, or drain his finances.
Journalists are all too familiar with this legal tactic, and it does not bode well at all for Menorca. Those who resort to it are not interested in vindicating their reputation, but in spreading intimidation. A libel case in Lanao del Norte against someone who lives in Quezon City is not legal redress, but pure retaliation. And, like clockwork, a second libel case surfaced the day after Menorca’s arrest—this time from the Regional Trial Court of Lanao del Sur.
Use of Law Enforcement Agencies and the Court of Law to Subvert the Ends of Justice – The Menorca Case
Do we need any more proof that an orchestrated campaign is being waged against Menorca? We can simply consider the evidence already at hand. A mysterious disappearance, after an internal INC crisis erupted in public. One libel suit after another, filed by Iglesia members. The handing over of one arrest warrant from one INC member to another, a ranking police officer. Followed by the next-day arrest of a man who was supposed to be hiding his tracks well. Circumstantial, yes, but convincing.”
http://opinion.inquirer.net/92236/the-iglesias-long-arm#ixzz49f6rTWR5
So before we end this article, let us just ponder on something simple yet ultimately profound… During the time of Bro. Felix Y. Manalo, the Church of Christ was just starting in the Philippines, it faced gigantic and powerful religions that persecuted it, how many libel suits did Bro. Felix file against the church’s detractors? During the time of Bro. Eraño and his 46 years of dynamic stewardship of the Church, how many detractors spoke against him and the Church of Christ? One thing that Bro. Felix and Bro. Eraño Manalo have in common is that they stood on the TRUTH for God was with them and the Church. They did not even need to retaliate against those who spoke against the INC. The only time the Church filed libel cases in my knowledge was during the time of the ADD Preacher Eli Soriano, which was spearheaded by the Legal Head then, Minister Restituto Lazaro. I can also attest that “some” of those were known to Bro. Erdy, but “most” were also deliberately hidden from his knowledge. But even those cannot compare to the magnitude of spiritual instability and insecurity of Eduardo V. Manalo and his whole corrupted Administration. Why? Because they are standing, not on the TRUTH, but on a flimsy web of lies and deceit. That is why they have a NEED to SILENCE those who are exposing their anomalies and corruption at any cost.
If this current Church Administration of Eduardo V. Manalo does not have anything to hide, no Billion Pesos Bank Loans, no Secret Business Corporations, no secret lavish properties and lifestyle, no covert mafia-like abductions and kidnappings of their enemies, no skeletons of smuggling, racketeering and murders in their closet, why even try to censor free speech? The answer is glaringly simple… BECAUSE THE TRUTH CONTRADICTS THE LIES THAT THEY WEAVE. CORRUPTION, UNDENIABLY, EXISTS IN THIS ADMINISTRATION.
So as a simple piece of advice to this fanatic Minister Rommel San Pedro… You can file as many libel suits as you can, along with all the well-paid lawyers of the church roster. After all, it was you who stated this to your former colleagues who are undoubtedly more principled than you- “that you will exhaust any amount from the church coffers and every effort in your bones to sue the shirt off the back of anyone who will speak the truth about the corruption in the church”. Sadly, you have not learned that YOU CAN NEVER SILENCE THE TRUTH. That knowledge obviously does not come from attaining a Library card even from Harvard! So the next time you feel hurt or your ego is bruised due to your exposed incompetence, or before you cry out like a baby, try to read the critiques of this award winning writer-lawyer David Lat on [http://abovethelaw.com/author/david-lat/]
His outspoken articles and blunt commentaries will make you shrink in embarrassment compared to my candid and witty comments about you. How thin-skinned you are! If the likes of these top-notch lawyers and critics were to evaluate your performance as a lawyer along with your legal and ethical malpractices, their ingenious opinions may just make you want to disappear from the face of the earth. But the other lawyers, law firms, and even judges don’t seem to mind his striking and humorous write ups, because unlike you… the rest of them are not IMMATURE AND INSECURE.
Now, go and practice your “menacing-look” of intimidation to convince WordPress to give you my information.
I suggest you try a different look that would suit you more. Maybe this will make you more believable than laughable.
Unlike the Philippine Media and Agencies, WordPress.com does take Freedom of Speech seriously. So the minute you are able to supersede the basic Human Right to Freedom of Speech, I will be ready to see you in court. Until then, best of luck to you and more power to your ever protective mama bear!
~ Antonio Ramirez Ebangelista
“They tried to bury us…they didn’t know we were seeds.”
“Unlike you, I don’t have power or money, but what I do have is a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career.  Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you.  If you tell the truth now, that’ll be the end of it.  I will not look for you, I will not pursue you.  But if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will expose you.” – A.E.

89 village chiefs suspended over SAP distribution anomalies
#PHnews: 89 village chiefs suspended over SAP distribution anomalies
MANILA – The Office of the Ombudsman (OMB) has suspended 89 punong barangays (village chiefs) across the country for six months over anomalies involving the implementation of the first tranche of the social amelioration program (SAP).
In a press release issued on Saturday, DILG Secretary Eduardo Año directed the respective municipal/city mayors of these barangay captains to immediately implement the OMB’s order upon receipt while the DILG regional and field officers were directed to ensure the orderly implementation of the mass suspension.
Año thanked Ombudsman Samuel Martires for immediately acting on the complaints filed by the DILG against the erring barangay top officials, saying it will serve as a stern warning to all local government units that any wrong-doing on their part will not be tolerated by the department.
“Naway magsilbing babala ang suspensiyon na ito sa iba pang mga lokal na opisyales. Ang katiwalian ay walang puwang sa ating pamahalaan lalong-lalo pa ngayong panahon ng pandemya (I hope this suspension will serve as warning to other local officials. Corruption has no place in our government especially during pandemic),” he said.
In an order dated Sept. 2, 2020, the OMB said “the evidence on record shows that the guilt of these punong barangays is strong and the charges against them involve serious dishonesty, grave misconduct, abuse of authority and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service which may warrant removal from the service.”
The Ombudsman maintained that the continued stay off these punong barangays in office may prejudice the case filed against them, “[so] placing them under preventive suspension for a period of six months pursuant to Republic Act 6770 is proper under the premises.”
DILG spokesperson Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said the suspension of the 89 punong barangays, the first such mass suspension in the history of the country, is just the latest in a series of moves undertaken by the DILG to weed out corrupt officials in the implementation of the SAP.
He said that acting on the orders of the DILG, the Philippine National Police- Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) has already filed criminal cases against 447 individuals for violations of RA 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act), RA 11469 (Bayanihan Act I), and RA 6713 (Code of Conduct of Government Officials and Employees), among others, again in relation to the implementation of the social amelioration program.
Of the 447 suspects, 211 are elected local and barangay officials, 104 are appointed barangay officials and 132 are their civilian co-conspirators. The cases are now being handled by the different city and provincial prosecutors across the country who have started the filing of the necessary information against the suspects in the courts.

casual, platonic intimacy between bigs & tinies. physical contact that's so natural to them, yet indicative of their bond.
tinies climbing up to sit on the giant's thigh or laying their head on the giant's stomach. minigiants (gently) sprawling over their tiny's legs like an oversized cat. giants lifting their tinies without a word or thought. wiping food or dirt from each other's faces as best they can.
all things very casual, normal, natural. soft & intimate & beautiful.
