Griffin)。

1996 NBA Draft, this draft is maybe the best draft in NBA history.....AI Allen Iverson was the #1 pick by Philly & Kobe Bryant was the #13th pick by Charlotte who traded him to LA....the league would never be the same again. Marcus Camby was the 2nd pick & 2x NBA MVP Steve Nash was #15....not to mention Kerry Kittles, John Wallace, Samaki Walker, Jermaine O’Neal, Stephon Marbury, Ray Allen, Peja Stojokovic, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Antoine Walker & Derek Fisher was the 24th pick....CRAZY draft class. May God bless the Bryant family & the other families who lost ❤️ ones. 🙏🏿🏀🙌🏿👑 #salute #rip #onelove (side note Kobe came to the NBA right out of High School) think about that 🤔 https://www.instagram.com/p/B713iiJBu99/?igshid=ymdzzgdtq2ot

According to this article, the 1996 Draft was not a bright year for the Mavericks who were concerned with finding a player that would fit their team. Future all-stars like Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Peja Stojakovic were all attainable by the Mavericks. So if we get a good pick this draft the Mavericks shouldn’t pick a player that will fit in the team, but a player that will change the team. We are in need of a big man but if Doncic is available. GET HIM!

The All-Ohio Rebels Dominate Early, and Finish Well in The All-Ohio Nike Cup by Robert Huff

This past weekend I got to see the All-Ohio Nike Cup just outside of Columbus, Ohio. This tournament housed over 70+ teams across 7 grade levels between fifth through eleventh, took place at Whitehall Yearling High School (home of for College and NBA standout Samaki Walker) and Reynoldsburg Summit High School. I followed the action of the All-Ohio Rebel's three games from Saturday, and the results from sunday's tourney finale.

Game #1: All-Ohio Rebels vs. Mid-Ohio Jayaraman
The game started off slow, no baskets by either team until over a minute into the game. For the Rebels, this scoring drought lasted even longer as Mid-Ohio went on a 7-2 run with just under sixteen minutes left in the 1st half. The problem was that the Rebels were failing to finish around the rim, leading to an early nine point deficit. All-Ohio finally got back on the board at the 13:29 mark of the 1st half. #10 Dylan Jones got the Rebels finally cooking by pulling down the rebound, and taking it to the rack for two. Followed by a nice corner three by #0 Nick Ferguson cut the Mid-Ohio lead to one, 17-16. The momentum flips at around the 7:00 minute mark of the first half as the Rebels took the lead 18-17. During this, Mid-Ohio found themselves in a scoring drought, which lasted 5 minutes, and ended with a basket with five minutes left in the half. Both teams exchange a one point lead for a two minute stretch. Towards the end of the half, #1 Garvin Clarke with a great drive through traffic for the foul. Hitting both with .25 seconds left in the half. The Rebels took a 28-27 lead into halftime. The second half began as a tight defensive contest with great shot contention on both sides of the court, especially at the rim. For over the first 9 minutes of the second half, The Rebels out scored Mid-Ohio 13-4 by turning up their defensive pressure with an array of steals, and banging the boards as they held a 41-33 lead with 10:13 left in game. After pushing the lead to ten from an easy two at the basket by #0 Nick Ferguson, maintained this lead until 1:52 remaining in the game. As the clock winded down to the buzzer, Mid-Ohio made a made dash for the lead with a barrage of three's. But it was to no avail, as the Rebels hang onto the 55-53 win.

Game #2: All-Ohio Rebels vs All-Ohio Gold
This game was basically the Garvin Clarke show in the second half. With a minute off of the clock, he got the game started with a 3 pointer from the corner. The rebels are owning the offensive boards, which is leading to second chance points at the rim. Also, the ball movement has picked up for the Rebels. It seems like three to four passes per possession as the Rebels take a ten point lead, 18-8 with 10:52 left in the first half. A very fast flowing first half with the Rebels leading 32-18 at halftime. The second half starts with Garvin hitting teammate Jaylen Ross with a nice assist for two, then coming back down on the next possession and eyeing the All-Ohio Gold defender with a three from the top of the key. With 15:00 remaining in the game, All-Ohio Gold hit a three to cut the lead to eight, 37-29. Garvin crosses over a defender to hit a second three from the top of key. He continues to dominate with another steal that leads to the open layup, opening up the lead 42-33 Rebels. Garvin then finds another teammate in the corner for an easy two. Another possession, another 2 b y Garvin, which he then followed up with his third three from the same spot at the top of the key. 48-37 Rebels, 8:20 left in the game. After a dunk by All-Ohio Gold cuts the lead to nine, the Rebels #13 Zac Chatmon split the free throws to make the score 51-41 with 4:10 left in the game. As All-Ohio Gold took a timeout with 1:58 remaining the score was 56-48. They then proceeded to cut the lead to four at the 38 second mark. Garvin got fouled next, hitting both shots to stretch the lead to 60-54. In a contest that was never in question for the Rebels until the closing seconds, as the All-Ohio Rebels win their second matchup of the day. 60-57 Final.

Game #3: All-Ohio Rebels vs All-Ohio White Mobley
A very close game to start, with the Rebels leading 13-7 through the first seven minutes of the game as the refs are active early. The Rebels #10 Dylan Jones pulls up to hit a three after some nice ball movement with 3 passes on the possession. He then comes down and hits his second three in a row with 10:09 remaining, 19-9 Rebels. A lead that stretched to 22-9 with 8:00 minutes left in the half. Great defense combined with good looks on offense have the Rebels leading by 24 at the 4:47 mark in the half. The All-Ohio White Mobley team falls into a six minute scoring drought, down 33-9 with 3:44 left in the half. Finally ending their scoring woes with a floater for two, 38-11 Rebels with two minutes left in the half. #0 Nick Ferguson with an amazing no look, one handed pass to a wide open teammate in the paint for the easy two, 40-11 Rebels .20 seconds left in the half. The Rebels #11 Amarion Dickerson ends the first half with an emphatic dunk, 42-11 Rebels. The second half starts with the Rebels maintaining their thirty point lead. Rebels #5 Devin Hightower with a nice drive and dish for the corner three, 48-17 Rebels 15:00 minutes left in the game. Five passes lead to the corner three by #3 Dakota Cochran. After the easy layup and block knocked out of bounds back on D, The Rebels push the lead to 35, 58-23 with 12:00 remaining in the game. Nice corner three by Ferguson, 61-29 Rebels 8:20 remaining.#23 Scott Minor banks a three off the glass from the top of the key, making the score 64-30 with 7:15 remaining. All-Ohio White Mobley cut the lead to 73-41 by hitting three straight drive and finishes at the 3:47 mark. But the Rebels' Cochran hits another corner three for the dagger, and the 78-41 lead with 1:30 left on the clock. The Rebels end their night by leaving an impression on the teams they faced and all of those watching on with a dominant 37-point win. On Sunday The Rebels went 1-1, with a heartbreaking loss in their final game due to a 35-foot three made by All-Ohio Gold for the one point victory in their rematch from Saturday. In all, The Rebels had their game tested, and came out pretty well after their showing in the All-Ohio Nike Cup.

For the Dallas Mavericks, it’s somewhat hard to pick. They’ve had several bad first round draft picks, including Sam Perkins ahead of Charles Barkley, Bill Wennington over Joe Dumars, and Doug Smith over Terrell Brandon and Dale Davis. But nothing compares to taking power forward Samaki Walker ahead of Kobe Bryant in the legendary 1996 NBA Draft. Walker was taken number nine overall and averaged just 5.3 points per game in his 10-year NBA career. Also still on the board were Steve Nash, Peja Stojakovic, and Zydrunas Ilgauskas.

Samaki Walker Talks About The Time Kobe Bryant Sucker Punched Him Over $100 #Lakersnation
Kobe Bryant sucker punched a former teammate in the face — over $100 — back in 2002 … and it almost caused a nuclear war between the players … this according to the punchee, Samaki Walker.
Walker — who played on the Lakers from 2001 to 2003 — appeared on Brown and Scoop on CBS Radio’s Play.It and detailed the entire incident … saying Bryant struck him on the team bus in an effort to collect…

Samaki Walker tells about the time Kobe Bryant sucker punched him
According to Walker, the beef originated from a post-practice game the Lakers would play. Each player would put $100 in a pot, and then take turns trying to make a half-court shot. Whoever was first to make a shot would take home the pot. As Walker tells it, Kobe won the contest that day, and Walker assumed he had 48 hours to hand over his $100. Apparently, he was wrong about that:
It wasn’t even 48 hours, Kobe comes to me on the bus, asking me where his $100 is, believe it or not. Out of all the people, he chose me, which is still to this day puzzling. I told him, “Man, I don’t have no $100 on me right now. First of all, why are you coming at me for $100?” With that being said, I put my earphones back on, and once I put my earphones back on, the most amazing thing happened. Kobe, he sucker punched me.
