cas really is an awkward dad coming to talk to his kid. and it's not going well. though he is more supportive of jack's snake than dean, which good for him (coming from someone who is DEEPLY uncomfortable around snakes) i forgot how worried everyone already was about jack's soul. i remembered dean and the ridiculous cake test but i didn't remember cas being this concerned

dean and cas having a conversation about jack and sam is really like cas is dean's second husband and sam is his stepson while jack is his and dean's child. if you get where i'm going. like, sam is DEAN'S kid, but jack is THEIR child. so they're having a conversation about their respective children, and they've cast themselves in roles of concerned parents

i can only assume that dean forced cas to watch all of the scanners movies since metatron would never lower himself to watch those movies. (this pleases me GREATLY) cas' saturday evening post line! there's something about cas drifting through the bunker late at night after everyone has gone to bed and looking through old magazines to soothe himself that is both incredibly soft, incredibly hilarious and incredibly poignant. he LOVES humanity! he's looking at an idealized version of the human condition in order to soothe himself. the rest of his loved ones are asleep and cas remains awake to watch over them but he still needs comfort, so he looks at old magazines. (i'm going to stop now but just know that this thought LIVES IN MY HEAD)

cas' "delicious" is wonderful here. he's such a wonderful dick. HIS HEAD EXPLODED. LIKE A RIPE MELON ON THE SUN. i love cas and i would die for him and he is the only character ever.

the irony of this woman saying "MORALS" to a degenerate homosexual angel of THEE lord... layers upon layers upon layers! and then cas mimicking the "shape and heft". he knows from personal experience. because he is a homosexual.

dean's cake test is so ridiculous. HE is so ridiculous. and his immediate REGRET after calling snakes "cool". the look of a man who just saw his whole damn life flash before his eyes. (it is established that dean does not care for snakes and finds them frightening. how much of this is because of a natural aversion and how much of this is because THEE indiana jones ALSO finds snakes off putting and scary?) RIDICULOUS MAN! RIDICULOUS MAN TESTING HIS KID WITH CAKE.

cas' consistent irritation with people is something that can be so personal, honestly. "the very tall man" laughing because misha looks so short next to jarpad but misha is actually pretty normal sized/tall

whoever the woman is who plays the wife, give her an emmy. she has FANTASTIC comedic timing. this whole scene is pure comedic gold. i remember laughing to the point of tears the first time i saw it. stop forcing jarpad to be a dramatic action hero. let him either be the villain or let him act in comedies! this is where he THRIVES! don't make him be a gritty action hero! he is not receiving enrichment in that environment!

i love when cas allows himself to be a terrifying badass. so much of the time he's masking his true nature for the comfort of the humans around him, but sometimes he just lets himself go and when he does, it's TERRIFYING!

we love a fight where cas is FINALLY allowed to be a badass. we LOVE IT. finally some good fucking food if you ever wanted to know why sastiel can never be a thing (sastiel fans i love and respect you) just look at this scene compared with the prisoner scene. sam and cas' scene is longer but my GOD is it lacking in the sexual tension and pathos of the prisoner scene. jarpad just does not have chemistry with men and that is okay because he is a heterosexual and they're necessary for the environment too!

Also, for a while, I used to have nothing against Jared. No, I wasn't a Stan, but I didn't hate him either. I thought he was a pretty alright dude. And I kinda bought into the whole J2 thing for a while too. Until I started hearing about this shit about him. And at first, I didn't think much of it, it was one story here, one story there, but then it kept. Happening. And then I saw the receipts. And I rewatched convention clips, and this was the turning point for me. It surprises me there's no one talking about this anywhere else. Not Twitter and not Facebook. Or maybe there are, it's just not tagged or trending, which it should be. People need to know about this.

For context: I also didn't feel especially strongly about JarPad at first. I saw him in the context of the show and found his acting utterly atrocious --- it became a long-running joke in my family and friend base --- but I didn't really care much about him. As I mentioned, I don't look much at bts stuff anyway. This was then followed by a few of my Sam-critical and JarPad-acting-critical posts, which got me slammed by stans so vehemently that my inbox was full of little else for about a week. (I never really mute posts or block people --- perhaps I should, but I never feel the need --- but I muted a few posts and blocked a few folks during that first wave of b.s. I can't bring myself to regret it, either.) After that point, I got even more suspicious of JarPad's character --- I mean, if a man inspires a fanbase like that (heavy on the bad extremes, light on the moderates, and with a hefty dose of threats), something questionable is probably going on. And then I looked through Tumblr and saw posts about him doxxing service workers, treating people like shit in general, the tattoo debacle, et cetera, and I saw his temper tantrum about The Winchesters, and I just lost any and all respect for the man. (And then his stans had the nerve to be like: "well, it's clear you're just jealous or something, since you clearly spend all your time thinking about him" and I'm just sitting there. Like. Wot??!? I honestly do not think of the man unless I'm watching SPN and dying because of his acting, or if someone brings him up.)

I definitely follow what you're describing though. That's probably the path I would have taken if the stans didn't chuck me into the deep-end of antiJarPad, and I think it's admirable that you paid attention to all the warning signs. (A lot of people I know have... not.) I also very much agree that this information should be wider-spread than it is... I only know what's going on because of Tumblr --- though, I confess, I don't have any other social media (is Tumblr even social media? I don't think so, tbh, but anyway) so I wouldn't know if there's much on there --- and it took some conscious research to find/verify even then.

13x11 The contrast from the previous ep of action adventure to creepy horror-adjacent, phew!! A solid, creepy ep that I uncomplicatedly enjoyed. Perez might be my favorite later season writer, in how much he continues a horror-adjacent tone in a lot of his eps, and how he often explores the hidden, monstrous underside of seemingly normal people.

13x12 Another lighthearted ep. Must’ve been fun for Jackles and Jarpad to play more slapstick humor, but it does get to be a bit much. Rowena’s ‘redemption’ is kicking off, and her convo w/ Sam in the car was somewhat compelling, even if I’m not invested in Rowena as a character. It did make wish, tho, that there were more conversations like this between Sam & Dean, as it feels like the writing has gotten very one-note in terms of how they talk to each other.

13x13 I’ve heard that some writers (Bucklemming, maybe others too?) wanted a redemption arc for Lucifer that got nixed, and you can see fragments of it in this ep, I think. But wow am I glad they did not go w/ a redemption arc here, because there’s no way the writers could have made it actually work.

13x14 I’m am so surprised I don’t see more about the thematic retcon of Mary’s deal in this ep. It’s just. Wow. If I had to pick one writing moment that sums up my issues I have with later seasons, it might be this one.

So, I read the response above which is so interesting, and I want to keep thinking about it, and then after that had these interesting tags in my feed from @bloodyentrails...

#i think that sam being compassionate towards certain people is kinda normal we tend to relate on a personal level#and him being queer-coded etc doesn't mean you have to care about him#just that that is a thing?#idk what kind of discourse i'm wandering into a lot of the time but relating to characters#and understanding they have been written in a certain way isn't the same thing#which is to say that i would love it if the writing had tackled that inconsistency#but i find that the show on the whole is inconsistent#and i think it's hard to maintain consistency over so many years with so many people working on it#i do think both of them are *trying* to be good people and they sometimes fail and also what constitutes a good person is kinda open#anyway#bear in mind i'm still only halfway through so#maybe i'll change my mind on all this#spn

It's a point worth considering that in the world of the show, Sam's sympathy for monsters seems principled and some how defies gravity, but that in the real world it wouldn't translate to anything real; that's likely true, and an interesting point. Having said that, I think Sam is pretty clearly not particularly"real world" compassionate, and I don't need monsters to make the argument that Sam is not the compassionate one because he shows a general lack of empathy towards PEOPLE, including but by no means limited to Dean, throughout the show. And, ok, he sometimes argues for a compassionate response to monsters and Dean doesn't always respond favourably, but that's because Sam fears he is one, and he needs to believe monsters are not all bad, which is not borne out of compassion, it's a rationalization that serves his psychological needs.

Basically, I think Sam is all surface. Sam is the urbane one, the smart one, the compassionate one, the one who talks nice to people, the broadly queer-coded one, the feminist, etc., but with Sam, all that is skin deep. He APPEARS as such! He's good at pretending, but he's nearly as savage as John is, Dean is much more sensitive to other people's needs, Dean is every bit as clever as he is, and intuitive to boot, Sam can ACT compassionate, but in fact he isn't really very empathetic to anyone, and he is able to just move on from all the things Dean just can't, Sam's not in fact queer, but Dean is queered to his fucking bones, and Sam's the one whose unconsciously replicated misogyny allows him to think any woman that would be into Dean is obviously a whore, and to keep his girlfriend in the dark about the truth of his life, while Dean is just talking a big game of cartoon misogyny TO SAM while treating the women he interacts with pretty fucking respectfully, actually.

Honestly, it's the same as the way Sam is supposedly the 'main character'. He's introduced as the one we should care about and identify with, but within, like, two episodes, he's really just a foil for Dean. Sam has BIG PLOTS, but it's Dean's feelings, reactions and relationships we really care about.

And, the fact is, Sam was pretty well-realized in the earlier eps. JarPad was giving it some effort, and he was charming then with his boyishness -- the way he seemed like he hadn't fully lived into his physical real estate -- but the thing is, he never could really hold a candle to Dean who was just magnetic. All the interesting character development was given to Dean and Jensen killed it by always making it seem like Dean had so much going on under the surface, and like, to the extent I care about Sam, it's because Dean loves him.

I kind of wonder what happened. Was Dean always meant to be the dark horse hero? Or was Dean just...played by a better, more compelling actor, and they started writing for him instead? There are so many much more interesting things they could have done with Sam, and they just...DIDN'T.

I dunno, I suppose it could just be me, but I feel like the way Sam just SEEMS, Dean IS.

maybe this is me being a dumb overly literal autist stemlord who simply does not understand literary theory or some shit equivalent but why should i care about someone being coded as [X] when i can just. care about someone who is [X]. why should i care more about the conventionally attractive white woman with a job and mortgage because she's metaphorically othered due to being a supernatural creature when i could care about the actually othered addicts that she used as a source of food. help me out here.

Sam genuinely had so much potential and his early seasons are SO GOOD and then jarpad stopped giving a shit like COMPLETELY and it's so fucking sad to literally watch Sam's entire personality just..... slip away bc jarpad could not be fucked to care anymore

in my current rewatch of only spn episodes that focus on reapers/death, I have unfortunately Come to a Notion, and I am going to share it with you because once again Nobody Asked.  

Yes, this is about how we Can Still Win, even after 15x20.

so this is an extension of the theory that 15x20 is not actually heaven (because of beers and lighting), and my particular addition to the “Dean is not yet in heaven in 15x20″ lore is - 

The Bobby that greets Dean in 15x20 is not Bobby - he is actually Dean’s reaper.

for the love of Chuck I truly cannot watch a single episode of spn like a normal person.  Put your clown nose on, buddies, and come bounce around the padded walls with me - after the cut!

Okay.  First, it’s important to note that SPN has a history of intentionally using lighting/camera work as part of the story, specifically in grounding location for the viewer, for example, to convey when characters are in an alternate universe (Purgatory, Apocalypse World, The Bad Place) or experiencing an alternate/altered reality such as a djinn dream - or, for purposes of this Essay - the limbo in between life and death whilst dying.  

That space is explored a few times in the show, but the first detailed expose occurs in 7x10: Death’s Door with Bobby, as he races through his memories trying to escape his own reaper -

where they have the audacity to make the “part of Sam’s mind that is ready to accept death” appear as Bobby.

Bobby is literally used in the narrative to lead Sam towards Death, convincing Sam to accept dying.  Who usually has that job in SPN?  Reapers.

***and remember, from 2x01: In My Time of Dying, that reapers can change their form as well as a soul’s perception of surroundings -

Hey, first of all, you didn't rescue jack, half-wit. Sam did. Second of all, Sam, you're in a coma. Now, suck as that may, sometimes that's just the way things go.

What are you talking about? There's always a way. You taught us that.

***this dialogue also contains a very specific callback to 8x19: Taxi Driver, where Bobby has this to say to Sam about accepting the finality of things-

Must have been hell on you not being able to get him out all that time. You did try?

Look, Bobby, Dean and I had an agreement, okay?

BOBBY I know that agreement. I taught you that agreement. That's a non-agreement. I get the feeling a lot must have happened while I was gone.

It also drives me crazy that Bobby is just sitting here, relaxing on a rocking chair 

since this was Bobby’s primary concern before heading to heaven in 8x19 after he was rescued from actual hell -

Consider Also the final scene in 10x17: Inside Man, after Bobby leaves his boring ass Chuck Heaven house to help Sam and Cas break Metatron out - and Bobby tells Sam “it's the happiest I've been in forever” after he assists him and Cas in Chaotic Causing of Problems.

so, yeah - Bobby in a rocking chair as his perfect heaven is kind of. . .again, out of character.

Supernatural Season 6 Review/Thoughts

Season 6 woohoo!!

Notes: guys, this season was pretty bad, ngl, also I completely forgot to add to last season's that they fucking left Adam in the cage?? WHAT?? it's insane really

Things I liked:

um. Lisa and Ben?? love it, Dean's such a dad. and the opening sequence to 6x01 was just perfect

dean has an honest to god cowboy kink... amazing

the french mistake has SO MUCH in it(my post on it)

weekend at bobby's!! I love it SO much(he really does everything)

CROWLEY!! I saw some post that said that about 1/4 of crowley's lines have some gay sex innuendo and,,, it's kinda true

fight the fairies!! (i'm still trying to figure out what kinda hate crime this was)

ok. ok. so TMMWBK was absolutely perfect and so many parts about it were just magnificent. but the best part, the best part, was that he WATCHED HIM RAKE LEAVES. sir who does that

Things I didn't like:

this season barely had a plot, right? like who was the main villain? soulless sam?? I don't even know

you're gonna kill Rufus?? really?? he was pretty great

the stuff that soulless sam was saying to dean, I didn't really like,,

so many episodes didn't really fit into the main narrative(the eve thing, motw eps)

oh boy, when Dean had Cas erase Lisa and Ben's memories, I almost threw up. this boy really barely thinks. sir. that was absolutely horrible

Other Thoughts:

when cas and meg kissed, I screamed "BUT YOU'RE BOTH GAY"

Sam and Dean really used jarpad's $$ to buy that bone,, so in character

HAHA SAMUEL's gone. I didn't really like him

they really put misha as one of the starring actors then didn't have him in every episode,,

*sigh* the whole soulless sam thing was not my favorite. he was like that for like 10 episodes and then it was never mentioned again. that's very spn of them.

idk I just felt like this wasn't their best season

A/N: Oops my hand slipped?

She reaches for Dean until her fingers are twisted so tightly into the worn flannel that she isn’t quite sure where she ends and the fabric begins. He knows what she wants from him, what she needs. It’s not the first time, but he doesn’t know if he can go that far this time. They stumble a step backwards into a wall of jagged bricks. 

She’s already fervently moving against him, squirming and pulling with hot short breaths escaping parted lips. The soft, firm weight of him pressing into her helps, as does the bite of the sharp edges digging into her back, but even that barely takes the edge off. 

Dean grips her hips in his strong hands and attempts to force her still, to calm her, but she only begins to fight more. He keeps trying. He can’t bear to see her go as far as she needs to--not tonight. Not here, in this dump. Not after a hunt this bad. Not to mention, she’d been thrown. Sure, she might look okay right now, but there’s no telling what damage has been done inside. 

He does his best to comfort her, beginning with slow, passionate kisses, the ones he knows make her melt. Pulsing against her gently, he prays and wills with everything he’s got left in him that she will be okay, that this will be enough. As he draws back to look her in the eyes, what he sees crushes his hopes. Tears are gathered in the corners, and she won’t even meet his gaze. 

Dean scoops her up in his arms but her death grip on him doesn’t waver, even as he sets her with care in the back of the Impala. Sam leans against the hood of the car with his back to them, hoping that this isn’t a night where he has to get involved. 

She practically tears away her battle-ripped jeans and yanks Dean down. He goes happily, willingly, but still with worry. Within seconds, his own jeans and boots are slumped on the ground just outside the car door and he slides into her. Dean begins to pound into her, gradually at first, then at a swift, steady pace. She cries out with every thrust. And yet… it’s not enough. She pushes against his chest with frantic hands until he pins them above her head and their skin sticks to the leather. With his other arm, he lays it across her chest and applies even pressure. Not too much, but just enough to make it harder to catch her quickening breaths. 

Her eyes close as she moans out his name sweetly into the night air, praising him and the pretty little noises starting to cascade from his mouth as it hovers over hers. He takes her bottom lip between his and pushes down as far as he can go, and she comes around him as he bottoms out. The warm, wet clenching and waves of pleasure seizing through her have him coming before her orgasm is even over. 

Dean collapses on her chest and strains to hear her heartbeat above his own. He catches his breath but hers never slow. She begins to tremble and he knows. It wasn’t enough. He props himself on his elbows, and holding back his own tears, calls with a broken voice out to Sam. Dean works his way out of the Impala and back into his clothes as Sam approaches with downtrodden eyes. In his hand is the demon blade. Dean can’t even look at it. Not now, not tonight. 

Dean keeps walking past the front of the car and down the road. He can’t listen to this. With balled fists shoved in his pockets, he kicks and curses the powers that be. He can’t linger on what’s happening behind him, but his mind doesn’t let itself wander far. 

He remembers the first time it happened. It’d been a similar situation to this one, and the vibrant huntress that lived with and loved them for months turned… different. The light had left her eyes, and she’d said she was fine. They were close, even biblically, but Dean didn’t know what to do to help her and just gave her space. 

Too much space, as it’d turned out, and she’d tried to drown herself in the communal bathroom. Sam had rescued her just in time and left her to rest in his room for just a moment. When he’d returned, she was gone. After searching town all night, they’d found her in an alley, bruised and bloodied, tossed aside like trash. When they’d brought her back home, she still wasn’t… there. So they moved a bed into the bunker dungeon and strapped her down there and waited for Cas, for help. 

She wasn’t one to be kept down, though, and Cas barely made it to the bunker before she’d completely cracked her skull against the wall. Cas did his best to fix the mess, but he didn't have the grace power to build a wall to protect her. 

She had demons of a different kind, born of a curse laid on her years ago, he’d told the Winchesters. That they’d need to watch her, be patient. And if he couldn’t come when called, to help her through the motions in a safe, controlled way. 

But that didnt make it hurt Sam and Dean much less, especially with knowing the witch was out there, somewhere just out of reach. At the very least, they were keeping her safe from herself and from other men, even if it meant hurting her themselves. 

Jerked back to reality, Dean’s knees buckle beneath him as her screams echo through the quiet night. He hangs his head in his hands and cries in anger and frustration.

Why did it have to be this way? Why her? He would take it on in a heartbeat if he could.

Sam has her pinned against the still-warm hood of the Impala, completely bare with the exception of his belt wrapped flush around her neck with the excess loop between her clenched teeth. He’s laid over her entirely and she can’t move at all. With practiced skill, he cuts into the soft flesh of her thigh until she is screaming and begging once more. 

Sam is familiar with the pain she feels, familiar with the drive to feel clean. To have the darkness washed away, even if it’s by waves of blood. He works his length inside her until her feet aren’t touching the ground. Sam drives into her with slow, deliberate thrusts. Each time, he hits as far as he can go within her, then pushes farther, until he’s bottoming out and she’s crying his name and gratitude into the leather.  

With almost every push, the knife carves another mark. Sam bites down on her shoulder hard as he comes, and with her back arching up and pushing her flush against him, skin on skin, she comes too. 

Without pulling out or away, Sam gathers her in his arms and drops the knife in the dirt. Holding her close, he kisses her sweetly. Her breaths calm with his at last, and he knows that she’ll be okay, that it was enough, that he won’t have to go farther. Not tonight.

Sam lays her down in the backseat once more as her eyes close, spent. Dean scuffles over and retrieves the first aid kit as his brother dresses. His eyes are red-rimmed and his jaw set firmly, brows knit and cheeks sunken. 

One day they would smite the damn witch and she would get better. She’d have to. Or Dean would be right there, jumping off the cliff with her. With shaking hands, Dean patches her up and holds her close as she sleeps. Sam drives them back home, glancing back once in a while to check on them. It takes a toll on all of them, this curse she carries. But to hell if he wasn’t going to keep fighting--to keep all three of them fighting.

I feel like when SPN started, the show was almost squarely about Sam. Like, he was absolutely the main character.

He was the one with the normal life who was sucked back into hunting by his brother/dad. They fridged Jess to get him back in. He had special powers that Dean didn’t have. Very protagonist vibes.

And, I mean, JarPad’s name is the first in the credits, after all. Or often it’s the name on the left and then Jensen’s is on the right. And because we read from left to right, it automatically sets him up as the lead.

And I felt like Dean was kind of the jerk brother for a lot of the earlier seasons. I can’t speak for how everyone felt, but at least to me, Sam was the emotionally sensitive one and Dean (at least on the surface) embodied everything about toxic masculinity that makes my skin crawl.

And then there was a sort of balancing of things in seasons 4 and 5 when it’s revealed that Dean is Michael’s vessel and Castiel and Dean share ❤️🌹 “a more profound bond” 💋👨‍❤️‍👨.

While I still think that seasons 1 to 5 are the best seasons of the show (though there are great things about each season of SPN that I love), I do think that this balancing really worked in Dean’s favor. I don’t think I began to love Dean until the writers tucked him into the story a bit more and allowed him to experience emotional growth.

And then he became My Preferred Winchester.

I don’t know what it is. But I suppose because there was so much weight placed on Sam’s shoulders at the start of the show, and he carried it well, I liked him more. At least at the start. Sam was the brother you were meant to like more. And he was written as such.

Dean, on the other hand, wasn’t. But somehow I fell in love with him regardless. He was raised to be a blunt weapon. He had to raise his little brother. He just wants to get the approval of his father. He genuinely wants to help people. He doesn’t LIKE killing, but he knows it has to be done.

I felt like Dean needed a hug more.

There’s an incorruptibility to Dean Winchester. I suppose a moral fiber that I noticed Sam lacked and that drew me to Dean more. Not that Sam is a bad character, because I love Sam too.

But there’s something about Dean…

What comes after SPN for J2? What genre would they want to direct? Jensen thinks comedy is the hardest. He doesn't know if he would ever want to attempt that.

Jared would feel more comfortable directing sci-fi. It's more formulaic.

Jensen hasn't planned what he wants to do after SPN. He's going to see where the wind takes him. He never was a type of guy to know exactly what he wants to do.

Jensen wants to bring some of our past writers back for s15.

J2 talked with Andrew and Bob at the end of s14 amd Jensen mentioned a few things he would like to see. He said that the current writers would be pissed off 😂

What storyline would you like to develop? JA: Bringing some of the old writers back. Bringing people back who have helped us get to where we are. I think we may do some of that.

Getting old writers would be hard because they are so busy, but they are still family.

He thinks they are teed up to do some of it, if they are available and it is logistical. If it's capable. There is no animosity - they would all love to come back.

Someone yelled "what about Crowley?" JA: He's not a writer. But sure we'd love Sheppard to come back and do an episode. And Robbie.

Jared sticks hand into a mouth (it's a thingy on stage 😂): I enjoy Misha's company.

Jensen is apprehensive about putting his hand in the Mouth of Truth.

How would Sam and Dean want SPN to end? Jared doesn't want the characters to know they are winding down. They always do what they have to in order to keep fighting.

Jared called himself a Slytherin.

Jensen wants to go back to season 1. Bo angels, no demons. Everyone goes back to heaven and hell. It goes back to just monsters. JP: So no Misha. *crowd boos* JA: Cas can stay.

They want to teach the next generation of hunters. But he doesn't think it will happen.

Jared is talking about their families.

If the Pearl from episode 300 existed, what would it gave J2? Jared hopes the people around him would know how much they mean to him. Jensen hopes everyone would know and understand what true happiness is. We would solve a lot of problems in the world.

Funny pet stories? JA: we have 1 dog now, we had to give Oscar to Gino. Icarus is 13 years old and he is still chasing squirrels and birds like he is 2. But no funny stories. He's just part of the family. He's Jensen's buddy.

Jared got a new dog. His funny animal stories relate to him using them as a cover up for why a room might smell funny.

January 20 we have a new German Shepard pup named Coda, had to say goodbye to our 16 year old 😭

What have J2 learned from each other? A ton of things. They have experienced.a lot of thing together. JA: There is no one else on this earth who understands what my life is like over the last 14 years more than he does.

You know I have some really unfriendly opinions on Misha and especially Jensen but I don't go out of my way to try to make their fans upset. Don't be a dick.

So, I usually don't plan on addressing the various vituperative messages that have built up in my ask box --- just a brief side note to the others about that... I did say that it was always open, but that is not, btw, an invitation to be bullied! Luckily, however, I really don't care. So. Go off, I guess! (Side question: if I give you permission to yell at me in my ask box, will you leave everyone else alone? Because I'd make that trade.) --- but yours actually makes an argument that I can address, instead of just spitting random opinions as though they're facts, all proceeded by "LOL", so I'm going to respond.

Despite my natural proclivity for sarcasm, I mean this completely honestly; it's really cool that you have, as you term them, unfriendly opinions on Misha and Jensen. And, while I, personally, disagree --- at least as regards their acting; like I've said repeatedly, I don't know everything (or even that much) about them irl --- I honestly welcome you to share them! There are tons of people out there who are bound to feel similarly --- it's a statistical certainty, given the size of the SPN fandom --- and I cannot say enough how satisfying it can be to find people of like-minded ways of thinking.

There's a difference between expressing one's opinion, however, and "[going] out of my way to try to make their fans upset." It's not like I left these messages untagged, or anything like that; they weren't left with solely generic tagging, with something along the lines of "#supernatural", "#sam winchester", "#jared padalecki", etc. Indeed, I marked this as explicitly "#anti jared padalecki" every time, precisely because I didn't want people to be exposed to the post unless they chose to look at things tagged that way; I marked it this way so people knew what they were getting into.

If his fans saw this post, then they actively sought it out. I will take responsibility for what I said --- largely because I said it and stand by it: I don't like his acting, probably never will, and nobody (especially not random jarpad stans online, who took the four hours in which I was sleeping as free reign to spam my inbox with asks whose anonymous statuses suggest that they weren't even willing to take credit for them in public) is going to change my opinion on this --- but I do not take responsibility for, as you put it, "going out of my way to try to make [his] fans upset." They chose to be here same as I did.

Also. Speaking as a fan of Jensen's acting, a fan of Misha's acting, and a very severe anti to Padalecki's acting: if you like Jared's acting, that's valid! If you dislike Misha/Jensen? That's valid! Opinions --- especially differing ones --- are good; they're measures of individuality, of free will, et cetera. A number of my friends love Jared and Sam, and dealing with that is really easy! I just don't talk to them about the fact that I dislike either of their faves. With the exception of the occasional good-tempered debate --- where they're giving as good as they get, and we're both speaking in good fun --- it just doesn't come up! And that's fine!

There's a difference between having an opinion and trying to force other people to share it. I never said that Jared stans should come look at the posts, and I haven't exactly been subtle about disliking Sam up to this point; indeed, a brief search on "anti sam winchester" yields about 20 results on my blog. If his fans choose to come onto my blog, that's their choice. And if we're at the point where expressing a contrasting opinion to any group of people is "going out of my way to try to make [them] upset", then our society is discouraging individuals from thinking for themselves, and that's problematic in and of itself.

So, yeah. Differing opinions = good. Expressing opinions = good. Trying to force other people to share them = bad. Yelling at random people online because they don't love your idol = bad. It's not that hard!

The Sister Jo & Ruby subplot was very funny on the metatextual level, just with them being married to Jackles & Jarpad irl.

DEAN: So I'm thinking maybe [JACK] kills [AMARA], too. Seriously. 'Cause listen, if we just take Chuck off the board, that still leaves her, okay? That throws things out of balance, and if things are out of balance, then the world pretty much – SAM: Yeah, ends. Right. DEAN: But if Jack kills her... Kind of a family plan. Then there's no God, there's no Darkness. Nothing out of balance. World saved. SAM: Okay, yeah, but then who takes over? Uh, Jack? [JACK enters, chewing gum. He blows a bubble and pops it, grinning proudly] JACK: I just learned how to do that. DEAN: Probably not.

Foreshadowing that Jack will actually take over at the end of the season -- Sam and Dean underestimate Jack and still see him as a kid, while the rest of the season is Jack’s final coming of age arc and Jack saving the world by coming into his own power and taking on God’s power in the process. No more Chuck as a bad God, instead it’s Jack as a good God.

DEAN: Guys, I don't like it, alright? I mean, first Jo sets us up with the – with killer demons, and now Ruby sends us to a place with Hellhounds? These chicks want us dead. I don't trust any part of this. [he turns to JACK] Where's the thing? JACK: Um, I ate it. DEAN: You what? JACK: Well, it said it had to be in me, so – DEAN: No! Spit it out...

Jack has a very... ‘holy fool’ is maybe a bit much, but his naivete is framed as a kind of wisdom, in contrast to Sam, Dean or Cas. They’ve all lived a long time, so they have a certain world-weariness that Jack doesn’t. I like it, and it makes Jack’s character more compelling to me.

[In the Garden, a SNAKE approaches Jack] SNAKE: Who are you, really? Who are you meant to be? ... DEAN: So, Jack's back? CASTIEL: Yeah, he is. But, um, something's different. Jack is, uh – well, he's been to the Garden. That's the crossroads of divinity and humanity. No one's been there since the exile till now. Till Jack. [Cas, Dean, and Sam walk in. Jack is sitting at the kitchen table, hands together, looking down. Cas, Dean, and Sam stand a couple of steps away, watching him with concern.] SAM: Hey, Jack. How you doing? JACK: I... I'm so sorry. DEAN: You what? JACK: Why didn't I get it? I mean, my mother died, too. Why didn't I understand? It was my fault. DEAN: Jack... CASTIEL: His soul is back. JACK: Please. Just please forgive me. [SAM and DEAN look at him, both sad. SAM sighs, in pain. JACK looks back down. DEAN, silent, is looking at JACK, with sadness, … and perhaps, relief.]

And so Jack’s soul, his humanity, is returned, so now he can finally face his actions, his guilt, his regret, all his feelings, good & bad. Obviously evoking the Adam & Eve story, too; not just in Jack literally returning to the Garden of Eden, but also in his eating the ocultum which gives him a painful understanding of human feelings, just like Adam & Eve eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge gave them a new understanding and eventual pain.

Been going through a lot the last couple of years. My prompt was Death, and no it’s not the Horseman Death, sorry. This is very angsty. No beta. Feedback welcomed and wanted since I’m really rusty.

Square: Dean Winchester

Tonight, was the night that all children dressed up as their favorite characters, ate a ton of candy, and had a lot of fun. They could do this because of the work that you, Dean and Sam did. You kept all the real monsters away so that kids could pretend to be them and be safe.

You guys usually kept extra busy on Halloween. However, this year was different, yours and Dean’s daughter was 5 years old and really wanted to go trick or treating like all the other kids. When it came to Simone you couldn’t say no, and you wanted her to have as close to a normal childhood as possible.

Simone was the greatest gift life could give you and Dean. You never thought about having kids in this life but after one reckless night, it became a reality. Dean was amazing with her despite being against the idea in the beginning. She understood as much about your life as a five-year-old could. She knew it was scary, dangerous, and most importantly a secret.

Since she was so good about the life you lived you, Dean, and Sam discussed it and decided taking her trick or treating wouldn’t be so bad. She dressed up as a “monster hunter” because she wanted to be just like you guys. You thought it was adorable and went along with it.

After two hours of going house to house and collecting all the candy little Simone could carry you decided it was time to call it a night.

“Alright Simone, its time to head back home. It’s getting late,” you said.

“But Mama I want more candy,” Simone whined.

“I think you have enough love bug,” Dean said.

“But Daddy I still have room in my bag.”

“You mean the bag that I’m carrying because it got too heavy for you?” Dean said with an eyebrow raised.

“Yeah.”

“No love bug it’s getting late and you have to get to bed,” Dean said.

“Fine, but Uncle Sammy has to carry me home,” Simone retorted.

“You heard her Uncle Sammy,” Dean said as Sam smiled and gladly put Simone on his shoulders. You couldn’t help but smile at the little family you had before you.

Before you knew you were back at the bunker, but something seemed off. You, Dean, and Sam all gave each other a look signaling you were all thinking the same thing.

“I’m gonna go check the bunker. You guys stay here,” Dean said as he walked in. Almost immediately after walking in something attacked Dean throwing him against the wall so hard you could hear it outside.

You knew there was something in there and you knew you had to help Dean so you turned to look at Sam and then your daughter, kissed her, and made a run for the bunker door.

“Y/N, wait!!!!!! Come back,” Sam screamed.

“Uncle Sammy, what’s happening?” Simone asked holding back tears.

“Nothing sweetie. Everything is going to be fine,” Sammy lied to Simone as he hugged her and held her close.

You ran into the bunker to see Dean on the ground pinned by what you then realized was a ghoul and taking blow after blow. You grabbed the knife from your waistband and threw it at the ghoul landing in its shoulder. This distracted the ghoul enough to give Dean time to getaway.

You thought this would upset the ghoul but instead, it just turned to you and smiled. It came running towards you and you had no weapons left but your fists. The ghoul had your knife and Dean’s gun was on the other side of the room so you ensued in a fistfight with the ghoul. Dean grabs his gun to come help you but the ghoul grabbed the knife from its shoulder and sliced Dean’s arm that held the gun. He dropped the gun and the ghoul came charging towards you slicing your abdomen causing you to let out a scream.

Simone heard you scream and managed to wiggle her way out of Sammy’s arms and run into the bunker. Sammy went running in after her but was too late. Simone ran right into the ghoul who grabbed her.

“NOOOOO!!!!!” you and Dean both screamed at the sight unfolding in front of you. “Let her go.”

Tears started to roll down Simone’s face as she tried to wiggle out of the ghoul’s arms.

“Put your weapons down or the girl dies,” the ghoul said as he held a blade to her throat.

You and Dean complied and threw your weapons to the ground.

“Good. Now I’ll let her go if you come with me.”

You looked at Dean as he shook his head pleading with you not to agree.

“Ok,” you said much to Dean’s dismay. The ghoul smiled and let Simone go. You walked towards him and he grabbed your arm immediately stabbing you in the stomach and twisting the blade. You let out a scream and collapsed.

“That’s for my family, you bitch,” the ghoul uttered.

Dean immediately grabbed his gun and shot the ghoul dead. Simone ran into Dean’s arms with tears in her eyes and he held her tight.

Sam then ran into the room to see the horror that just unfolded. Dean kissed Simone’s head and handed her off to Sam as he ran over to you. He kneeled by your side and cradled you in his arms. You brought your hand up and cradled his cheek as you wiped the tears.

“Don’t cry De. I love you so much and need you to keep it together and take care of Simone for me and don’t let her forget me. This is not your fault. You need to remember that. You and Simone are the best things that ever happened to me and am glad to have known happiness in this short time,” you kissed his hand one last time before you closed your eyes and died in his arms.

After about an hour of beating himself up and chopping up wood Dean and Sam put your body in a pyre to give you a proper hunter send-off.

Dean grabbed Simone and held her tight in his arms as tears stained their cheeks while they watched you burn.

Simone looked up at Dean and asked, “Is Mommy in heaven now?”

“Yeah, babygirl she is.”

“I miss her already Daddy.”

“Me too sweetie, me too.”

You laid on your stomach in your bed, your laptop open as Shane Dawson's voice filled the room. Shoving some popcorn in your mouth with one hand, you fixed the blanket that wrapped around your body and head.

You glanced over at the digital clock that sat on your dresser; it read three in the morning. With a yawn, your attention was turned to your door as a knock sounded. Sam peeked his head through the small opening. "Why are you still awake?" He asked. Dean and Sam had been out on a hunt.

"I could ask you the same thing," you retorted.

"We just got back; I'm heading to bed now. I wanted to check on you," Sam paused, "You should get some sleep,"

"Fine." You closed your laptop. Sam began to close the door before you called out to him. Sam turned and gave you his attention. "Can I have the car tomorrow?"

Sam raised an eyebrow, "You're asking the wrong person," Sam sighed and shut your door, clearly exhausted.

The night went and the morning came. You got out of bed and headed to the kitchen to find your brothers sitting at the table. You walked over to Dean and wrapped your arms around his neck.

"Oh, Dean, have I ever told you how much I love you?"

"W-what are you doing?" Dean tensed, expecting something to jump out at him.

You released him and sat down, draping an arm around his shoulders. "What? Can't I show some affection to my awesome brother?"

"Not unless you want something... or broke something. Did you break something? I told you to stay out of my room!" Dean turned towards you. You glanced at Sam, who had an entertained smile on his face.

"I didn't break anything, mom-I mean my wonderful brother," it took all of your might not to insult him, Dean could be such a mother hen some times.

"What do you want?" Dean deadpanned.

"Could I have the car today?" you asked, slightly preparing for rejection.

"I guess," Dean sighed.

"Wait, really?" even Sam was surprised.

"No. D'you really think I'd let you drive, Baby? Do you even know how much driving experience you have? Not a lot," your shoulders slumped as your arm fell from his shoulders.

"Well, maybe if someone would take me driving more often then I'd have some experience, but noooo, Dean has to be obsessed with a car," you grumbled.

"You know what? Keep this up, and you'll find a bug on your pillow," Dean warned.

"Keep this up, and I'll just steal the damn car,"

Sam chuckled, "By all means antagonize the beast, see where it gets you," Dean shot him a bitch-face, making Sam laugh more.

"Come on, Dean, it won't be for very long, I'll have it back by midnight tonight. You guys just got back from a hunt! It's not like you're going anywhere,"

"Hey, I got places to go!" Dean defended.

You deadpanned, "Where could you possibly need to go? The retirement home?" Sam choked on his water, causing him to have a coughing fit.

"You're not helping your case," Dean glared at you. "Girls can't drive, plain and simple,"

Ignoring his insult, you continued your argument, "Dean! I've never asked for anything in my whole life! Just let me drive the damn car!" you begged.

"You asked for ice cream last week, you liar," Dean shot back.

You paused, "I've never asked for anything that means this much to me in my whole life," you re-phrased.

Dean sighed, taking a deep breath and thinking for a moment. "Fine," he begrudgingly agreed, "But if you so much as get a tiny scratch on that car, you're never driving again."

"THANK YOU!" you squeezed Dean, earning a groan from him.

"You're probably wondering why I called you here," you sat an apartment with two people across from you.

"Technically you just let yourself into my apartment, but go on," Charlie commented.

"And I needed a break from tablet stuff," Kevin huffed.

"Either way, we're here for a very top-secret case," Charlie and Kevin looked at each other then back at you. "Chuckster Cheese, the innocent pizza chain that brings happiness and fun to all children," you paused for suspense, "Reuses their pizza."

"I'm sorry; what?" Charlie questioned.

"Okay, hear me out, you know how at Chuckster Cheese their pizza looks like a hot mess? Like the slices never line up with each other. Sam and Dean would occasionally drop me off at pizza chains for kids, and I always noticed that Chuck's pizzas were weird looking," you pulled out your laptop and started showing them pictures of pizzas, "See, look! Why is this slice so much smaller than this one? Why doesn't this cut line up with the other side? Where did that olive come from?" you stared at them, your eyes getting bigger by the second.

"You're crazy," Charlie commented.

"I thought I was the one losing my mind, but you take the cake, Y/N," Kevin responded.

"I'm not crazy, okay! Chuckster Cheese employees take all the leftover pizza and make a new pizza out of it! Let's just go to Chuckster Cheese and see for ourselves,"

"Sure, let's go to a kid's pizza chain--for kids--and hang out. A bunch of adults hanging out in a kid's pizza chain. Nothing suspicious about that." Charlie retorted.

You three sat in the car in front of Chuckster Cheese.

"So, are we gonna go in?" Charlie asked, staring at the big rat face plastered on the building.

"Uh... I'm not sure we thought this through," you admitted.

"No, no, no, you dragged us into this, we're gonna see it through," Kevin spoke from the backseat.

"Fine, let's go,"

The three of you walked into the building. Bright colors and children filled your sights as the smell of pizza with a hint of vomit filled your noses.

"Delightful," Charlie commented as she watched a child cough onto the water fountain.

You all sat down at a booth and ordered two pizzas.

"So, if this pizza is all messed up, what are we gonna do?" Kevin asked.

"Throw it away?" You suggested.

"You're gonna waste the pizza?" Charlie chimed in.

You stared at her, "It's better than letting some other shmucks eat it,"

"I didn't expect this to be your favorite hangout place," Dean appeared by your table, Sam right next to him.

"What the hell are you two doing here?"

"We should ask you the same thing," Sam replied, sitting next to you as Dean sat on the other side, practically squishing Charlie and Kevin. "Why are you at a Chuckster Cheese?"

"You're gonna think I'm crazy-" Dean cut you off.

"Oh, trust me, we already do,"

You stared at him for a moment, "Fair enough, but we're here to prove that Chuckster Cheese reuses their pizza,"

"What?" Sam and Dean looked at each other.

"Okay, so when someone orders a pizza, but they don't eat it all, a worker will take the leftover pieces, and instead of throwing them away, they take it to the back and combine it with other leftover pieces to make a full pizza for another person!" you rushed your words.

"I was only slightly joking about thinking you're crazy," Dean responded as Sam laughed.

"Okay-" you stopped when a worker brought over two pizzas, setting them down in front of you all.

You all went quiet as you stared at the hodge-podge of pizza.

"I... uh... I didn't really expect to be right if I'm being honest,"

"Why would they-" Sam stopped when he saw Dean reach for the pizza and take a piece. "Dean,"

"What? It's still pizza," Dean took a bite.

"Yeah, pizza that some grubby little demon licked!" you huffed, cringing at the fact that Dean is still eating it.

"Not saying that you aren't right, because you are, but," Sam tore his eyes away from this brother to look at you and continue, "you drove all this way, dragged Kevin and Charlie here, to see if Chuckster Cheese's pizza was fresh?"

"Sam, there's a difference between serving something fresh, and serving a random person's leftovers to other people," you argued.

"I guess..." he mumbled, returning his gaze to Dean.

"Okay, I can't watch that anymore, let's leave," Charlie said, ushering everyone out of the booth.

"Did you at least find what you were looking for, Y/N?" Sam asked as you all walked outside.

"I guess,"

"Looks like the Scooby-Doo gang solved another mystery!" Dean joked.

"We didn't solve anything, Dean," you rolled your eyes.

"Well, sure, you did! You figured out that Chuckster Cheese is a cheapskate and doesn't want to waste money by throwing out old pizza,"

"Old pizza that you ate may I add," you chuckled.

"Hey, pizza's pizza,"
