We watched in agony as Charlie's body, wrapped around a white sheet, burned in the flames. This should never have happened to her kind soul. She died so we could save Dean. I couldn't help but feel guilty; my heart ached because I lost a friend, again. I knew Sam felt the same. We both asked Charlie for help with the Book of the Damned, and we both lied to Dean about the book being destroyed. Now it was too late to make things right. Memories flashed through my eyes, making me tear up. I remembered when she helped us with the Dick situation, or when I taught her some hunter-kind-of-tricks. How happy she was and wouldn't stop thanking me. She didn't deserve this, anyone but her.
“Charlie,” Sam started, grabbing my and probably Dean's attention. “We are gonna miss you. You're the best.” He stopped when his voice cracked, and now I was sure he felt far worse than me because looking back, he suggested not telling Dean about the Book of the Damned not being destroyed, which I didn't agree with at first. But seeing Dean, my Dean, slowly fade away right in front of my eyes changed my opinion. Maybe it was selfish, me and Sam both were. But we couldn't let Dean become something he fears, a Monster. We couldn't lose another person, another family member, but we didn't realize who we were putting in danger on this path.
“We love you, Charlie, and I'm so sorry,” I said, blinking through tears.
“Shut up,” Dean said coldly, making Sam and me look at him. “You got her killed. You don't get to apologize.” He continued.
“Dean-“ Sam started, but Dean cut him off.
“You too, you two are the reason she is dead,” he said, not taking his eyes off the flames.
“We were trying to help you,” I said, still looking at him.
“I didn't need help,” he said bitterly. "I told you to leave it alone.”
“What were we supposed to do, just watch you die?” Sam asked, not letting me be the only one receiving the cold tone from his older brother.
“The mark isn't gonna kill me.”
“Maybe not, but when it's done with you, you won't be you anymore,” I stated. “Dean, you're all we got. So of course we were gonna fight for you because that's what we do,” I said softly.
“Yeah, she's right, we had a shot-“ Sam was cut off again by Dean.
“Yeah, you had a shot. Charlie is dead.” He finally turned his head to look at me and his brother, who was standing next to me. His dark emerald eyes bore into mine, and I couldn't recognize them. Never have I ever seen him look at me with those eyes. Because no matter how much crap we went through, he always made sure I was fine, and his eyes held nothing but sweetness and, on most occasions, worry. “Nice shot.”
“Are you even listening to me? You think I'm ever gonna forgive myself for that?!” I snapped, not being able to keep my voice down anymore. He is grieving, but so am I. If I could, I would trade places with her.
“You know what I think,” he started, still with the same voice tone. “I think it should be you up there and not her.”
I felt my heart break for the hundredth time today. I parted my lips, not taking my teary eyes off him, which clearly showed how hurt I was. Sam let out a small gasp and widened his eyes after he heard Dean's words, clearly not expecting his brother to go that far.
I knew he blamed me, probably even more than Sam. But knowing that he wanted me dead hurt more than any physical torture I've experienced.
Sam called his name, still shocked after what he heard, but his brother just walked away, breaking my heart more and more.
—————
It has been a week since I lost Charlie, since I lost my Dean. He has been searching for the Stynes ever since but has been having a bit of trouble finding their location. So meanwhile, he went on a few solo hunts. He hasn't said a word to me and to Sam, just a few like ‘buy some beers’ ‘did you find anything about the Stynes’.
He found another hunt for today and was packing his bag in his own room. We both haven't stepped in our shared room ever since the accident, which meant we weren't even sleeping on the same bed. I'm done with being ignored, so I knocked on his door and opened it without waiting for any response. He didn't even turn around, probably knowing it was me.
“Dean,” I called his name, not even knowing what I wanna talk about, but getting him to look at me was the first step. “Dean,” I called, this time louder, and when he still didn't turn around, I walked towards him and grabbed his arm. “Alright, I'm done. When will you finally stop ignoring me?!”
He looked at my hand, which was grabbing his arm, and slowly turned around, finally looking at my face. “I'm not ignoring you, I just don't want to talk to you or be near you,” he said bitterly, pulling his arm away and reaching for his door.
“Dean, you know you're not the only one who lost someone, okay? And believe me, I know it's my fault she's gone, and I'll never forgive myself for that. But, god, you're practically killing me. I miss you,” I said desperately, waiting for something in his eyes to change, waiting for him to embrace me in his strong arms, but... Nothing. His eyes didn't even hold hatred anymore, just emptiness.
“I don't know what you expect me to say, ‘I'm sorry you were so stupid’ ‘I'm sorry you got another person killed off’ ‘I'm sorry you're so fucking useless’ Huh?! Is that what you want me to say? You want me to feel sorry for you?!” he yelled, showing the anger and darkness in his eyes while he harshly slammed me to the wall, making me whimper slightly. His words cut deep into my skin, but I tried my best to ignore them, knowing this Dean wasn't really my Dean.
“I want you to understand, I want you to know that I'm sorry. I want you to tell me that we're gonna go through this like we always do,” I said softly, looking deeply into his eyes, trying to crack him.
He let out a dark chuckle and grasped my shoulders, lowering his head to be on the same height level with me. “You want me to tell you that we're gonna go through this? Well, baby, in that way, I'd be a big liar.”
“Dean, me and Sam, we are so close to saving you. Please, just don't let the mark control you,” I begged, feeling small under his touch.
“I don't want nor need you two saving me, and believe me, at this very moment, I'm trying to not let the mark control me, so don't provoke me,” he whispered against my ear, sending shivers down my spine.
"I thought you trusted me.”
“Well, that trust was destroyed when you got someone who was like a sister to me killed. Have you ever noticed how many innocent people died because you were being too stupid?” he said harshly.
"We all have made mistakes, Dean," I said, as I thought about the hunts where innocent people died, and I couldn't save them. I didn't want Dean to know how much his words were affecting me, but, god, I felt like a crumpled paper.
“Seems like that's the only thing you ever do,” he smirked, letting his eyes fall on the floor again before looking up at my eyes again. “Tell me, how does it feel knowing you don't mean anything to anybody and you're just a burden in our lives? How does it feel knowing nobody loves you?”
That's it. That was the punch line to make me break into tears.
“Y-you love me, you said that before.”
“You know I lie to get laid,” he said, smirking, proud of his response.
My heart was racing more and more, and I felt nauseous.
“Dean, please-“
“You're nothing, do you hear me? Nothing!” he grabbed my cheeks harshly. “Your existence doesn't matter. You.don't.matter.” he said, spitting the words out before letting me go. He took his bag and walked out of the room, not even glancing at me. I slid down the wall as I started sobbing silently.
Then I heard a buzz from my phone.
New message from Sammy:
“Y/N, Dean just said he found a hunt, probably three to four werewolves, and he told me to go with him. I was really surprised but didn't question him. I think he's getting better. I'll also talk to him on the road. Next time, he'll definitely ask you too, just like old times. Don't stay up and don't worry; we got this :) love you.”
He asked Sam to go, but not me. If he hadn't told me that he hated me a few minutes ago, I'd think he was worried. But if it was really 3 or 4 werewolves, there's nothing to be worried about. He just wants to stay away from me. He told me I was a burden to them; he'll probably throw me out of the bunker soon.
Dark thoughts ran through my mind, and suddenly a rush of anxiety ran through me. What if there were more than a few werewolves? What if they get hurt? What if Dean hates me even more?
I checked Sam's message again and saw that he sent me the address of where the werewolves' location is and where the hunt would probably take place. I quickly rushed to my room, grabbed my car keys, and went to drive to the location.
—————
I was hiding behind some of the trees in the forest, watching as each of the boys fought one werewolf, two already dead ones on the floor.
Everything seemed good so far; I mean, their guns were on the floor, but they were fighting each werewolf single handed and there was no need for me to make my presence known. The boys were winning as always. And that's when I realized they don't really need me in their life. I knew the words that came out of Dean's mouth tonight weren't really Dean's, my Dean. But he was somehow right; before I became the hunter I am today, I made many mistakes. Some were small, and some led to people getting hurt or even killed. I also put their lives in danger multiple times because I was being reckless. Finding the demons that killed my parents blinded my vision. I was ready to get back to the bunker when I saw both of the werewolves giving up until I noticed something.
A werewolf close to Sam's back, and it seemed like none of the brothers noticed him. I searched for my gun but remembered I forgot it in the backseat of my car. I cursed under my breath and did the only thing possible right now to save Sam. I couldn't let Dean lose another person, especially his brother, who I knew meant the world to him. I couldn't put him through something like that again when there's a chance to save the younger Winchester.
So I ran towards Sam, trying my best to not slip because of the woods on the floor. The Werewolf was close, and nobody noticed him. I'm not the only stupid one after all. The boys turned their heads to me for a slight second, surprised at my presence, but didn't stop fighting the other werewolves.
Until I pushed Sam away from the werewolf he was fighting onto the floor. He seemed confused at first, until he saw it. I assumed Dean did too but couldn't be too sure since he was behind me. I let out an agonizing scream when the werewolf grazed his claws into my stomach and the other one, which Sam was fighting before, grazed his claws into my back before my lifeless body fell on the floor. Dean didn't hesitate more seconds before getting his gun from the floor and shooting all the werewolves.
I was bleeding like a waterfall from my body and my mouth. But the good thing is-
I didn't feel any pain, or anything in that matter…
Dean Winchester’s Pov:
No no no.
This can't be happening.
It's all a nightmare, just another stupid nightmare.
I heard Sam's crying voice telling the love of my life, his best friend, to wake up, holding her torn apart body in his arms, asking her why she pushed him away. But there was no answer.
It's a nightmare happening in real life.
Her beautiful y/e/c are open but so empty, unrecognizable.
I stood over her body, not being able to move from my spot.
There is so much blood everywhere.
Her blood.
This is hell.
No, I’ve been to hell and it's worse than hell.
I started tearing up more and more, reality hitting me more every second.
I let out an angry scream and fell on my knees when I remembered my last words to her.
“You're nothing, do you hear me? Nothing! Your existence doesn't matter. You.don't.matter.”
She wasn't nothing, she was my everything.
She mattered, she was the reason I kept going, now she's gone and it's all my fault.
All my fault.
All of the words I said came back to me, making my chest hurt.
As I knelt beside her lifeless body, surrounded by the aftermath of our shattered world, I whisper into the silent abyss, "I'm sorry, Y/N. I'm so sorry."
And deep down I felt the Mark laughing…

You smiled at your brother as he appeared beside you, beers in hand. He passed one to you as he took a seat on the bonnet beside you. “Thanks.” You smiled before taking a sip. Your brother nodded before taking a sip of his own drink.
“Remember how dad flipped the first time dad caught you drinking? Man, I think I saw fire in his eyes.” Your brother chuckled turning his head to take at you. “Oh yeah. I think that was the first time I ever faced his wrath.” You joked bumping shoulders with him. “I think I was too drunk to truly care to be completely honest.”
“You were a mess. I spent most of that night awake in case you were sick.” He shook his head. “Then you actually were sick.” He rolled his eyes. You grimaced slightly. “Please don’t remind me,” You took another sip. “Being sick on the floor in front of my younger brother was bad enough. I think I traumatised Sam that day.”
Dean laughed. “Traumatised Sam!? It was me who had to clean it up, missy.” He exclaimed. “And I was very thankful you did.” You joked before looking out into the empty field.
Your childhood was a touchy subject. Something which all three of you chose not to talk about unless necessary. Growing up you’d always known that your home life was less than normal, that your dad never acted in the way you saw dad’s on the TV act.
As you’d grown up you’d simply come to the conclusion that maybe John Winchester was never meant to be a dad, sure for the first two years of your life he’d played the part but even then you knew it wasn’t perfect.
“You look like you're thinking quite hard there, you okay?” Dean bumped his shoulder with you drawing you back into the present. “I’m fine, just thinking…” You trailed off looking down at the drink in your hands. You felt your brother wrap an arm around your shoulders, pulling you closer.
You both fell back into a comfortable silence for a moment before you turned your head to face him “You were more of a father to me than he ever was,” You smiled at your brother “Just so you know.”
Dean pressed a kiss to your forehead before resting his head on top of yours.

The night we met ♡ Sam Winchester
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a young girl it was drilled into you to never be alone in the woods.
As a woman the same sentiment was echoed.
But as a hunter, you found that that warning couldn't be one that you listened to. For the sole reason of what if there was a young girl or a woman in the woods at the mercy of the very things that you were trained to hunt. Trained to kill.
You'd been a hunter for as long as you could remember, grew up on the road with your mother. Never went to a real school or met anyone your age. It was just the two of you.
Untill it wasn't.
One particularly bad hunt with a nest of vamps left you to mourn the loss of your mother, and you were alone.
And that's how you stayed.
That's how you liked it.
Sure you came into contact with men, it was always men, who thought they knew more or were better than you. But you were still standing, and they, well they were not.
Life expectancy wasn't particularly high in your line of work, it would be a miracle of you made it to your 30th birthday. It seemed that hunters either died young or seemed to live forever. You didn't know what was worse.
That being said, the earlier option seemed very likely right about now.
You were alone in the woods, in a deep fog, after killing three vamps.
It was dark and there was probably other creatures lurking in the shadows, knowing your luck there would be a vamp nest right around the corner.
What made matters worse is that the exit wasn't exactly clear. You'd lost your map, couldn't hear a road, and (rather inconveniently) there was no sighn posts anywhere.
All you could do is walk in a straight line and hope that you were going in the right direction.
Hope.
You knew the irony.
Hope wasn't worth much. Hope was a damn sure way to get yourself killed. Hope was for young girls who wished on stars, but after learning the myths behind them you had lost faith even in the night sky.
Hope wasn't somthing you would bet your life on, yet you had no choice. It was better than a prayer you supposed.
Suddenly you became aware that your footsteps weren't the only noise in the darkness. There were voices.
Two distinct low voices. Voices of men. Why was it always men?
Familiar warnings rang through your head. You knew it wasn't just monesters you were to be afraid of, sometimes there are more sinister things that lurked in the darkness. Sometimes death wasn't the worst fait to face.
Your hand griped tighter around your knife, your free hand rested on top of your gun.
The voices stopped after a rush of feverish whispers.
You were going to do something stupid.
"Who's there?" You shouted, trying to sound as stoic as possible. If they didn't know you were there they sure did now, along with anything else lurking in the shadows. It really was a stupid decision, but making stupid decisions was part of the job description and it had gotten you this far, or at least you were still alive to tell the tale.
"I'm armed and you've lost the element of surprise so why don't you do us both a favour and stop hiding!" You shouted once more, slightly more urgently this time, even you could hear the slight panic in your own voice.
A tall figure emerged from the shadowy fog, arms raised in surrender. He was tall, almost abnormally so. 'Go for the legs if necessary' you mentally told yourself, just incase he want so friendly. He took slow, purposeful steps towards you in an attempt not to frighten you, you appreciated the gesture but it did nothing to settle your concern.
As he drew closer you could look him in the eyes. And that's exactly what you did. His eyes were Hazel, almost green with a touch of gold with a sense of softness and sensitivity about them. It felt like you were reading a book, being continually drawn in till you don't even rember who you were before you picked it up. Looking at him gave you a sense of comfort you hadn't expericed before on the road. It was nice. It was terrifying.
You cursed yourself for staring too long.
"Who are you?" You questioned, bringing the tip of your knife to rest against the base of his neck, the blood from the vamps, which still coated the blade, sticking slightly to his neck. He stopped in his tracks, his arms still up in surrender.
He looked unfazed, he looked as though he understood.
"My name is Sam winchester and I'm a-" he began but you cut him off, realisation hitting you.
"Winchester? Where's your brother?" You asked lowering your knife. You knew they hunted together, and you didn't want to be ambushed unwittingly my the other.
"Hi sweetheart." Another figure said as he sauntered out of the thick trees.
You rolled your eyes at his remark, making a menal note to stay clear of him if your able to.
You could tell that the one that approached you was the younger of the two, Sam as he introduced himself, the boy with deamon blood, or at least he was.
Meaning that the older of the two, and shorter, was Dean who, unsurprisingly, greeted you slightly condescendingly.
You turned your attention back to the brunette just as he began to speak.
"Wait how do you-?" He asked suddenly, slightly confused but also a hit of relief in his voice.
"Bobby is aways talking about you boys, I mean every hunter knows about you and your serious fuck ups, but Bobby keeps saying I should catch you boys and work with you or whatever but-" you rambled on before the younger winchester cut you off.
"You know Bobby?"
"Everyone knows Bobby."
"Wait so you must be-"
He was about to say your name before, who you assumed to be Dean, cut him off.
"Yes yes nice to meet you and whatever but Sammy and I have more pressing issues to attend to." He said with a wave of his hand ushering his brother over. Only Sam didn't move. His eyes were still fixed on yours. Your eyes still on him.
"I killed the three vamps if that's what you're doing out here." You commented, directing your answer to Sam.
He furrowed his brown in confusion.
"Three?" He asked, slightly taken aback.
"Yeah?" You responded, worry consuming you. You didn't miss one did you? You didn't make a mistake, did you? Everything was so matriciously planned out surely you couldn't have-
"We thought it was just a brother and a sister." Sam interrupted your thoughts, placing a strong hand on your shoulder. He clearly read the panic on your face, it was like he'd known you your whole life. His hand on you seemed to ground you, help you think, but it made you feel almost dizzy. It was an unfamiliar feeling, a feeling you weren't sure if you liked it or not. Regardless of the fact you relished in his touch as you composed yourself enough to explain what you knew.
"No they were hunting with their father, it seemed like this town was their first solo hunts, but it all lead back to him."
Sam finally turned away, his hand falling from your shoulder to look at Dean, in response he simply nodded his head to the side. There was some sort of unspoken communication between the two.
You felt left out. You longed to know what they were thinking. You specifically longed to know what the taller of the two was thinking.
"You're sure there's no more?" Sam asked as he turned to face you once more.
"I know that there are no more that are killing people in this area, that's good enough for me."
He just nodded in response.
"Well I guess that means we're done here," Dean commented clapping his hands together, "you crazy kids what to get out of here, maybe get some pie-"
"Shut up." You cut him off. It wasn't beacsue you were opposed to getting out of the woods, quite the opposite. But you heard something or at least thought you did.
"Sweetheart, I can tell you like my brother here more than me but there is no need to be-"
"Be quiet." You cut Dean off once more as you strained your ears again, you heard another rustling sound coming from near by. You gripped your knife tighter, your thumb drawing small circles on the hilt.
Turning in the spot to get a better gauge of your surroundings you clocked both of the winchesters expressions, they heard it aswell.
"You said it was a father and his two kids right?" Sam asked poised, now holding a large knife of his own.
"Yeah," you responded in a hushed whisper.
"Any sign of a mother?" He asked hurriedly, voicing the one thing you hoped not to be true.
Shit.
You hoped you would stumble onto another hunter, but you knew this time you wouldn't be so lucky. It had to be the mother and you cursed yourself for mot even considering her.
"Sam-" you began but were quickly cut off by a figure charging from the shadows.
She was fast, but worst of all she was smart. Thats probably why none of you picked up on her.
She launched herself at you first, the well known glint of vengeance alight in her eyes. "You killed them you bitch, you killed them all!" She sceamed in your face as you tried to bring your knife up to decapitate her.
But she was fast and her clawed hand dug into the wrist where your knife was Sam and Dean rushed to your side but they were quickly pushed away, falling on the ground too far away to reach you.
"Was this the blade that killed them?" She asked as you struggled against her, "didn't even have the decency to kill me aswell?"
Blood was gushing from your wrist from her claws as she twisted your own blade towards your chest.
From the corner of your eye you could see Sam pushing himself off the floor, disappearing into the fog.
Logically he was leaving you. He didn't know you. It was in his best intrest to get his brother and go, regroup and hunt tomorrow. You know logically that's what he was doing.
But something inside you told you otherwise. Something in your head was telling you that he was coming for you. That he would save you. That you just needed to stay alive for a few more moments.
It was more than hope that you had. You knew Sam was still there. You knew he wouldn't leave you.
You could feel your knife pressing against your rib cage, you were no where near as strong as her, you tried pushing back with all your might but it was no use.
You felt the blade as it began to draw blood. You felt the pain of the rapidly growing wound. You felt yourself slowing begin to loose grip on the world around you.
"Oh I am going to enjoy watching you die." The vamp said, her words venomous against your ear.
"Not as much as I'll enjoy this." As voice said from behind the vamp.
It was Sam.
Her was there, knife above his head as he swung it round.
The vamp was quick, but she wasn't quick enough to avoid the blow of Sam's knife as he swung it and swiftly decapitated her.
Blood splattered on you as you let out a sigh of relief. Sam was here.
Sam saved you.
Sam winchester saved your life.
You wanted to run to him but the corners of your vision blured. You were dizzy. You couldn't see. You couldn't stand.
"Sam..." you managed to whisper as the world fell from beneath your feet.
You felt two strong hands wrap around you and lower you slowly to the floor. Your head rested against something sturdy, something warm.
"Hey look at me I'm here," a voice said, it was muffled, distant almost.
"You need to just hang on for me, keep your eyes open okay?" The voice asked of you and you nodded or it at least felt like you did. Your vision was blurry but your eyes were open.
"Dean hurry!" Sam shouted, panicked. Sam was holding you. Your head was against Sam's chest and you were resting in his arms.
You tried to sit up but a sharp pain shot throught you. "Shit." You mumbled, you looked down and saw the knife still in you. It was deeper that what you first thought, but it can't have been that bad you could breathe fine, it missed your lung. You were fine, right?
"Sam?" It came out as more of a question, you didn't want to admit it but you were scared.
This is how your mother died in your arms, did she feel like this too? Was she scared? Did she know she was going to die, or did she foolishly think she would live?
"Hey, hey," Sam stroked your hair soothingly, "I'm right here love, I'm not going anywhere okay?" His touched seemed to ground you, soothe you.
"Dean is coming back with medical supply's, your going to be okay."
"Okay." You replied, all you could do was look at Sam. Even when he was blurry he was beautiful. Even when it felt like the world was going dark his eyes were bright as ever.
Thoes were the last things you rember seeing before the world went black, and you finally understood why so many people warned you not go out in the woods alone.

AUTHOR’S NOTE ➤ first fanfic! hopefully dean and sam don’t act too OOC, but lmk if they do!
Tumblr media
"Dad hasn't been home in a few days."
Sam took a deep breath before responding, "So, he's working one of his usual overtime shifts on a 'Miller Time'. It's nothing to worry about. He's bound to stumble back in sooner or later."
Dean glanced down at the cold, hard ground, allowing his eyes to linger there for a moment before looking back up at Sam. His voice was full of concern as he said, "Dad’s on a hunting trip, and he hasn’t been home in a few days."
Sam’s expression remained stoic, giving away nothing of the worry that was slowly starting to creep in. Jess, who had been quietly observing the exchange, glanced up at him.
"Jess, excuse us. We have to go outside."
Tumblr media
"I mean, come on. You can't just break into my place in the middle of the night, and expect me to hit the road with you," Sam said, his voice echoing in the silence of the night as he followed Dean down the stairs.
"You're not hearing me, Sammy. Dad's missing. I'm not just asking you to hit the road with me. I need you to help me find him." He looked back at Sam, his eyes pleading for understanding.
"I- I don’t understand, why couldn’t you have called Y/N? Isn’t she an FBI agent or something like that?" Sam questioned, his hand reaching out to grab Dean’s shoulder in an attempt to halt his progress.
Dean sighed loudly, a sound that echoed throughout the quiet night. He bounced on the balls of his feet, a nervous habit he had whenever he was troubled. "Well I… kinda don’t know where she is…" he admitted shamefully.
Sam’s eyebrows furrowed, a clear sign of his confusion. "What do you mean you ‘don’t know where she is’?"
Dean pursed his lips and rubbed his hands together, his gaze dropping to the ground. "Well I don’t know her exact location but I know she’s somewhere in Washington DC or something like that!"
Sam scoffed in disbelief and shook his head. "That’s all the way across the country."
"Well did you want this to go quicker?" Dean shot back defensively.
Sam simply rolled his eyes at Dean.
"Look, are you coming with me or not?" Dean asked, his patience clearly running thin.
"I’m not." Sam said, his tone leaving no room for argument.
"Why not?" Dean questioned, his frustration clear.
"I swore I was done hunting. For good."
"Come on. It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t all bad."
Dean starts heading down the stairs once again, with Sam quickly on his trail.
Tumblr media
"You know, in almost three years I've never bothered you, never asked you for a thing," Dean tried to reason, his voice softening.
Sam looks away and sighs, then looks back.
"All right. I'll go. I'll help you find the both of them."

Y/N, a 32 year old FBI agent, sat in the back of the ambulance as the woman cleaned up her many cuts. Her shoulder had been stabbed by the unsub and her head was smashed into a sheet of glass.
"Alright, you're done." The woman finished cleaning her cuts, placing a bandage on her forehead and applying gauze tape to her wound.
Y/N smiled at the woman and hopped off the ambulance truck.
"Y/N!" someone shouted from the distance. She turned to see her great friend Adam, who was the first one to welcome her to the FBI.
She smiled softly as he gave her a comforting hug, "Ow, my shoulder." Her nose scrunched up in pain.
"Sorry," the corners of his mouth turned up as he let go of her.
Other agents of the FBI walked up to her, thanking her for her bravery. "Thank you for saving that girl's life."
"No problem." She gave them a comforting smile.
The agents walked away to discuss matters with other departments.
Y/N and Adam talked about the case for a little while, before Adam turned his attention to something behind her.
"Hey, do you know those people over there?" He asked.
She turned around to look at the people Adam was pointing at. She tilted her head to the side, squinting slightly as she tried to recognize them.
Why did they look so familiar?
Her face paled when she realized who they were.
"Uhm, yea- yeah I do, I’ll be right back," she stuttered, patting his shoulder reassuringly before she walked away.
"What are you guys doing here and how in the hell did you guys find me?" Y/N whispered-yelled at the two boys, her eyes wide with surprise.
"We need your help," Dean replied simply.
Y/N furrowed her eyebrows and put her hands in the back pockets of her jeans, "Oh, so all of a sudden you both need me after what, three years of not talking to me?"
Dean, with a dramatic flair that was all too typical of him, let out an exaggerated sigh. "Listen-" he began, a note of desperation creeping into his voice.
But she cut him off, her frustration palpable. "Dean, please, I really don’t have time for this," she said, waving a hand dismissively.
Sam, practically silent until now, took a step forward. His eyes critically scanned over her face and body, noting the signs of recent distress. "What happened to your shoulder?" he asked, his voice filled with genuine concern.
In response, she lifted a brow and shot him a sarcastic look. "Take a guess, Sam. I’m in the FBI," she said dryly.
He rolled his eyes at her retort. Typical Y/N, he thought, not for the first time.
Dean, who had been silent during their exchange, finally spoke. "Dad’s been missing for a few days, and we… we need you," he stated, his eyes narrowed and serious.
Her reaction was almost immediate. Her jaw tightened, her eyes darkened, her whole demeanor turned defensive. "And why would I want to find him?" she shot back, her voice icy.
He faltered, at a loss for words. He turned away, his gaze landing aimlessly on the nearby crime site.
Now it was Sam’s turn to speak up. He stepped forward, his eyes pleading. "Y/N, please, we really need you right now," he implored, giving her a puppy-dog look. It was a tactic he used to use all the time when he was younger to get what he wanted.
She looked away from him, her lips pursed, her face screwed up in thought. After a long pause, she finally voiced her question. "How- how long is this going to take?"
Dean was the one to answer. "Four days."
She sighed out loud, a wearied sound that echoed in the silence. "You do realize I have a real job, right?" she asked, a note of exasperation in her voice.
Dean rolled his eyes, a retort already forming on his lips. But before he could speak, Y/N interrupted him.
"Fine, I’ll go with you two," she said, her voice resigned.
Dean smiled lightly, relief flooding his features. "Thank you, Y/N."
And so, they walked together to Dean's car, unaware of the challenges and dangers that lay ahead of them.

It came from almost nowhere.
You hadn’t sensed it coming, too tied up with the demon before you. She was tall and wore her dark hair slicked back in a ponytail. With much effort, you had managed to pin her up against the wall, away from her three friends who your brothers were occupied with. Dean managed to gank the blonde one with Ruby’s knife. She lit up like a candle before slumping lifelessly to the ground. He glanced in your direction to see that you were managing fine, before slinking off to help Sam who was juggling two demon skanks of his own.
“Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritu-”
The Latin had barely slipped from your lips when shit hit the fan. The woman got a hit on you, sending you reeling away from the graffitied wall, enough for her to slip out of your binding grip. You narrowed your eyes at the woman, reeling your arm back for another punch. She just smirked, her black eyes glistening under the moonlight. And that was when you felt it. A blinding white pain that blossomed across your abdomen and tore its way around body like someone had lit a bomb and your veins were the fuse. You collided harshly with the damp concrete, the sound ricocheting across the narrow street. You could feel the crushing weight of the hellhound above you and feel its hot breath fanning across your neck as you struggled, desperate from some sort of release though you could hardly move, trapped within the agonies of the invisible claws buried inches deep within your skin. Your cry of anguish had your brothers’ heads snapping towards your writhing frame. Their screams lost within your own. You gaped blindly at the dog above you. If it wasn’t for the hellhound’s snarling, or the blood seeping from the lacerations on your stomach, you would have had no clue what hit you. It felt like an eternity before the crushing weight was lifted from you and Dean came into view. The knife in hand was dripping with blood. He quickly discarded it on the floor and was by your side in an instant, pressing down harshly on your abdomen to slow the bleeding. He recoiled slightly when you let out a cry of pain.
“I know, I know it hurts. I'm sorry sweetheart.” Dean tried to soothe you, but he could already see the blood oozing between his fingers.
You watched him through blurry, pain tinted lenses, eyes moving frantically, struggling to focus on one area too long. Dean’s panicked complexion never left your body. His green eyes trailed your damaged body, swimming with worry.
“De…” what came out of your mouth in between your ragged gasps for air was hardly audible. Dean would have missed it if his senses weren’t so honed in on you.
“Shh,” He tucked a strand of your hair behind your ear. “Don’t talk kiddo. Sammy’s coming. Sammy’s gonna get here and then we’re gonna take you back to the bunker and we’re gonna fix you up okay?”
You nodded feebly.
There was a squeal of rubber and the blinding light of the Impala’s headlights filling the dingy alley before Sam’s mop of hair came into view.
The ghost of a smile found its way onto your lips as your breathing began to slow. “Sammy...” you mumbled, watching your older brother move to your side.
“I’m here, kid. ” He reassured as he slid one of his arms under your knees and the other under your back. The brothers shared a silent look before they stood up, shifting you from the cold concrete. You screamed and cried out in pain as you were jostled around in Sam’s arms. Dean’s bloody hands were replaced with one of his flannel shirts which Sam was plastering to your wound as the two of them raced the short distance to the car. It hurt Sam to watch the way that your face contorted in pain with each giant step he took. Each whimper that escaped your lips had Dean shuddering. Once you were secured against Sam’s chest in the car, Dean had never moved quicker than he did to the front seat to press his foot on the gas and send the car hurtling down the road to the bunker.
Your head lolled against Sam’s chest as he held you close and whispered reassurances into your ear. He wasn’t sure if he was trying to reassure you or himself. A deep pit had settled at the bottom of his stomach. “You’re gonna be fine. We’ve got you.” he repeated like a mantra when you whimpered. When you didn’t respond, he glanced down to see that your eyes had begun to droop closed, the effort of keeping them open had just become too much as you slowly lost sensation across your body. Your fingers and toes had began to go numb, all feeling lost within them
“No, no.” Sam cupped the side of your face with his hand and tilted it gently towards his. Your skin was pale and clammy and your cheeks were lined with tracks of tears that had beaded down your face. “Look at me Y/N, don’t close your eyes.” Sam’s voice seemed to raise an octave as he choked out his worry.
You tried to keep them open. You really did, but your eyelids had begun to feel like lead and keeping them was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. You struggled, but as the black spots began to consume your vision, you gave in and let unconsciousness claim you.
Sam cursed and tapped the side of your face desperately. Dean glanced back at his younger siblings. He saw the way that your frame was curled up against Sam’s, looking even smaller than you were supposed to in his arms. He pressed his foot even harder on the pedal when he saw the way that Sam’s face ignited with fear as he listened to the soft thrum of your heart; all out of beat and losing time.
~~~
When you peeled your eyes open, and they had adjusted to the harsh light in the room, the first thing you were aware of was the throbbing in your abdomen. Gingerly, you had tried to push yourself up, much to the protests of the muscles in your shaky arms. You had barely managed to get halfway up before you were being eased back down again by a pair of calloused hands.
“Take it easy, kid.” Dean said. He had been slumped in a old green chair half asleep when you had begun to rouse. There were dark bags under his eyes and he looked as if he hadn’t slept since he got back. That was something you knew Dean did when he was worried.
You blinked groggily. You looked like you had had a run in with death. I suppose you weren’t too far off. Your head was pounding and your skin was still devout of its colour, besides the dark bags that dropped beneath your sunken eyes. The throbbing around your stitches had quickly begun to feel much worse as the itchiness set in. “How long was I out?”
“ ‘Bout a day.” he told you, tracing circles on the back of your hand with his thumb. His skin was rough from years of hands on work, but his tough was gentle and far from what you’d expect for a man in his line of work. “Sammy sewed you up.”
You hummed gratefully, gathering your brewing for a moment. Once you had had a moment to think, it all seemed to come flooding back to you.
“I’m sorry.” You muttered.
“What?” Dean had to do a second take. “Sweetheart, what are you sorry for?”
“If I had ganked the bitch faster then-”
“No. No. This isn’t your fault.” Your brother said sternly. “If I had gone to you instead of Sam then-”
A tall figure appeared in the doorway to the infirmary, he had to hunch slightly to fit the whole of his tall frame in. He bore two cups of coffee in his hands and too looked as if he hadn’t slept a wink in a few days. Stubble had begun to make itself prominent on his cheeks.
“Dean, for the last time, this isn’t your -” Sam stopped when he saw you staring at him. He was at your side in seconds after placing the coffee on the table by Dean, then pulling you into a hug. You groaned at the pull of your stitches. “How you feeling?”
“Like I've been hit by a bus.”
Sam chuckled, though he furrowed his brows. “That bad, huh?”
You shrugged.
Gesturing towards your stomach, Sam asked “Mind if I take a look?”
“Go ahead.”
Peeling back the white sheets and lifting up the hem of your shirt, Sam revealed the white bandage fitted snugly to your body. He then untucked the bandage and gingerly unravelled it to reveal the angry redness and the pus that had gathered around the neat rows of stitches.
“Shit.” Dean uttered. He was trying not to panic, but the way forehead etched with concern gave it away.
“What’s going on?” You craned your neck to try and see the damage, but you were hit with a wave of vertigo that made you slump back against the bed.
“It’s infected.”
“What…?”
Sam’s gaze followed the length of your stitched skin. 16 stitches in total, all in three rows across your abdomen and down towards you right hip. They would leave a nasty scar, but nothing that a Hunter wasn’t used to. He followed the red lightning-like pattern that the infection had left on your skin.
“How the heck did it get infected, Sam? Didn’t you clean it?” Dean demanded.
“Of course I cleaned it.” Sam shuddered at them memory of pouring the alcohol into your wound. He remembered the way you unconsciously flinched as the needle sank into your skin. He remembered the way that your heart and your breathing slowed as Dean raced towards the bunker.
“Well clearly-”
“Stop.” You whispered. “Please.”
Both men stopped their bickering and turned to you. You looked so small and fragile lying there in that bed; your complexion nearly as pale as the room around you. Sam looked guilty. His eyes found the ground and he fiddled with his hands nervously in his lap. Dean’s furious features softened. He knew it wasn’t Sam’s fault really, he had just let his worry morph into anger. The alley had been filthy and in the rush to stop the bleeding, he wasn’t surprised that some of the dirt had managed to conceal itself. The wound was deep and time was running thin.
“Come on. Let's get you sorted out.”
~~~
The infection had taken hold of you quickly. Despite the brothers cleaning your wound and dosing you up on antibiotics, only after a day or so; you were now fighting a fever.
Sam placed a hand on your forehead. Your skin was too hot and clammy, but shivers racked your body like you had just been dunked in an ice bath. Sam moved some of the hair that had stuck to the beads of sweat on your forehead away from your eyes and frowned deeply, his eyebrows knitting together in the middle of his forehead. You were curled up on your bed, trying your hardest to pull the sheets even closer to your body. Your brothers had moved you out of the infirmary and into your room a few days ago after they had discovered that your wound was infected. Dean had insisted that it would provide you with a better sense of comfort than the eerily pristine walls and uncomfy beds of the infirmary. Your room was also a lot closer to theirs, which meant that they could keep an eye on you easier. That had put a small smile on your lips, what took it away however was when Dean refused to let you have your thick blankets. Your protests nearly made him cave and give them back, but he knew that if he did you would overheat and they couldn’t risk that with how high your fever was running.
A dry coughing fit tore its way through you, leaving you wheezing once it had subsided. Since the fever took you in its clutches a few days ago, the boys had watched you deteriorate. It broke them to see you like this; a ghost of the person you usually were. Sam knelt down to face you on the bed. Your eyes were barely open as you struggled against the exhaustion, but the fever wasn’t letting you sleep. “Y/N?” Sam asked gently.
You pushed your eyes open weakly.
“Hey.” He smiled at you and reached blindly for the glass of water that was on the bedside table. Easing you up, he held the cup to your chapped lips and helped you take small sips of the water and then another antibiotic. He placed the glass back on the side and moved to pull the covers away from you. You tried to turn away, but whimpered when pain flared through your wound.
“I know, I know. But we have to change them.”
Reluctantly, you allowed your brother to pull the covers away from your body. You felt like the air was stabbing you with icicles when it hit your body. You shuddered and Sam looked at you with pity. Watching your brother work as he removed the bandages was what you opted to do take your mind off of the way you were feeling. Sam’s face scrunched as he concentrated, his hair falling across his eyes. He pinched hs bottom lip between his teeth as he unraveled your wound. Your brothers had tried desperately to stop the infection from spreading, but now the wound had swelled to twice the size and it had become an even darker shade of angry. Sucking in a breath, Sam began to redress it with fresh bandages.
Sam and Dean had been taking great care of you. You were barely left alone and they always seemed to have everything you needed on hand. The pair would take it in turns to sit by you for hours and make sure your fever didn’t get too high, while the other searched for any way to help you. Dean had tried a million times to get Cas down here, but he was always left with no reply, only a silence that seemed too loud. He had even tried threatening him, but still, the angel never showed. He then moved on to help Sam with the stack of books that he was skimming through. It seemed as though the pile would never end as the two of them searched. Logically, one of the first things they had considered was driving you to the nearest hospital, but they had opted out of it, figuring that it was too dangerous to move you that far in your state and that it would be too hard to explain how you received wounds like that. Of course, then they were hoping that Cas wouldn’t ignore his angel radio, or that they would have found a spell within one of these books much faster.
Sam sat with you for a while, tapping his foot repeatedly and playing with his hands as he made conversation with you, trying to bring smiles to your sunken features. Sam loved it when you smiled; they were pure, golden. you could light up a whole room with one. When the three of you were younger, when you still wore your hair in pigtails and were too young and to go on hunts with your brothers and your dad, Sam remembered how he used to yearn for that smile whilst he was away, how they made him feel whole again when he returned and he’d wrap you up in his arms and you’d greet him with a big smile on your face.
Sam told you stories of his hunts, of embarrassing stories that he swore he wouldn’t tell anyone and of his favourite memories of the three of you until he thought you had finally let sleep take you under. You had stopped interrupting his stories with your own quips, or giggling at his jokes, though when he stood, the old chair creaking as he rose, and began to move as quietly as his boots would let him towards the door, your meek voice spoke up.
“Sammy?”
He hummed at the nickname.
“Thank you.” You said.
“Anytime kid.” He smiled sadly, placing a kiss on your forehead. “You’re gonna be okay Y/N. I promise.”
~~~
Not too long after Sam had left your room, Dean floated in. He wasn’t sure whether to be surprised or not at the fact you were still awake, gazing vacantly into empty space. Dean knew that sleep had never come easy to you, even as a small child. You used to crawl into his bed at night, seeking comfort. Another cough shook your frame as your eldest brother came further into the room. After ensuring you were okay, he replaced his brother in the seat beside you and took your hand.
“Can’t sleep, huh?”
You shook your head. That was when Dean climbed in to the bed behind you, tucking you to his chest like he used to when you were just small. He ran his fingers through your hair as he listened to your raspy and short breaths. He felt you shift to look up at him.
“De?”
“Yeah, sweetheart?”
“Sing to me? Like when we were little?”
Dean smiled as you pulled yourself closer to his chest. You breathed in the scent of his old band shirt and his cologne as he began to sing.
“Hey Jude, don't make it bad, Take a sad song and make it better. Remember to let her into your heart, Then you can start to make it better.
Hey Jude, don't be afraid You were made to go out and get her. The minute you let her under your skin, Then you begin to make it better.
And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain, Don't carry the world upon your shoulders. For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool By making his world a little colder.”
Dean was still singing when Sam came back to your room with a bowl in hand. His face lit up at the sight of you curled up in Dean’s arms. When Dean finally lifted his head away from yours and looked up to see his little brother hovering in the doorway, Sam was singing with him under his breath. It only took him a few steps to cross the distanced between the door and your bed and when he reached you, he pulled the book out from the arm it was tucked beneath and placed the bowl on your desk. The book was leather bound, and was at least an inch or so thick. It was once red, though with time and use it seemed to have lost its colouring to the grey fraying around the edges. The pages of the book were dirty too, thinned by age. The bowl, carved from wood and decorated with an ornate gold, seemed to be filled with herbs and other mojo that Dean didn’t even want to know about.
“I found a spell.” Sam told him, a grin sneaking across his face. “She’s gonna be okay.”
it wasn’t meant to happen this way.
y/n and sam were supposed to live a long, happy life together. they were meant to hunt for a little while longer and then retire and live their happy little ‘apple pie life’ as dean trademarked it. they’d already talked about having kids and a dog and building their dream house together. they were supposed to be together until they were old and took their last breaths together.
simply, together.
but sometimes things don’t go according to plan. just like the moment they were in right now.
sam was kneeling on the floor, covered in blood. not his own. hers. it soaked through his shirt and stained his face.
“y/n please stay with me,” sam pleaded, holding her limp body in his arms, her shallow breaths barely audible for him to feel any sense of comfort. he was pressing down on the wound, trying to stop the bleeding. trying to stop her from dying. still, more of her blood poured out from god knows where.
“i-’m sorr..y,” she croaked out. y/n could feel herself fading away. the oxygen wouldn’t fill her lungs properly and every one of her limbs were so, so tired.
the hunt started out perfectly. y/n, sam, and dean were quick to figure out where the monster was and how to get rid of it. a nest of vampires, hiding in the woods, preying on the little town nearby. bodies had stacked up over the years, but it wasn’t until recently that it became suspicious. y/n happened to be the one to find the newspaper article.
“guys! i found us a case!” she brought the newspaper clipping over to sam and dean so enthusiastically. she was so excited, so proud to have found a case on her own instead of relying on the winchester brothers to find one for them all. they saw the glint of her eyes and couldn’t say no. how could they, seeing how wide she was smiling?
so they went. they should have known it was too good to be true. the vampires were working with a pack of werewolves nearby. they were ambushed. sam and dean had been fighting off a pair of vampires when suddenly–
crack.
it hadn’t come from either of them. sam’s head whipped around to look at y/n, who was clutching her arm close to her chest as she continued fighting off the three monsters who’d grouped up on her. her lips were cut and he could see blood pouring out of a cut above her eye. the beginnings of a bruise stained her cheeks. sam’s vision went hazy, wanting to help her but being so afraid that he couldn’t move. it wasn’t the monsters that scared him. it was seeing y/n hurt. he was frozen in place.
it wasn’t even five seconds later when he saw the last standing werewolf swipe at y/n, eliciting a yelp from her. she swung her silver blade quickly after and the werewolf’s head rolled across the floor. his body dropped, thudding when it went down.
she followed soon after. y/n dropped to her knees. sam finally snapped out of the trance he was stuck in, rushing to her side. the sound she made when her knees hit the floor rang in his ears as he caught her, pulling her into him.
his hands were covered in blood as he held onto her. it wasn’t his blood. nor the werewolves. it was hers. her blood was pouring out, staining her shirt and his and both of their hands. it scared him. there was oh so much of it and sam was panicking.
his y/n. his sunshine. his wildflower.
she was bleeding out at an alarming rate and he couldn’t do anything. he felt useless, so utterly useless in this moment.
“hey, hey y/n. sweetheart stay with me. please stay with me,” sam practically begged her, as though it would make a difference for her current condition. his voice cracked as he yelled out for dean. for his big brother to do something to save her. his heart was cracking, if not already broken. the tears built and built, finally spilling over like an old dam that couldn’t contain the flood.
y/n could barely keep her eyes open as she laid there, weakly grabbing onto sam’s arms. she looked down towards her wound. the deep, jagged lines from the werewolf’s claws painted her abdomen. she whimpered at the sight. it burned worse than anything she could have ever imagined but the scream she wanted to let out got stuck in her throat, only building on the agony she felt.
and the blood. there was so much blood.
too much of it.
dean rushed over to where sam was holding y/n in his arms, clutching her close to him, like a child who didn’t want to share his favorite plushie. he was holding her so firmly, scared that if he didn’t then she’d somehow disappear. that she’d die faster. he couldn’t lose her, what would he do with her gone? how could he continue to live?
sam looked up at dean and they exchanged a look, prompting dean to run outside. y/n could faintly hear dean calling out for cas before the weak pounding of her blood became too loud.
“sam,” y/n rasped, her voice weak. she couldn’t keep the tears from rolling down her cheek. sam didn’t say anything, barely acknowledged that she said his name, not wanting the reality to set in of the situation. not wanting to accept that y/n was dying. the love of his life was dying and he could do nothing about it. he felt so utterly useless, thinking about the countless lives he’d saved, and yet he couldn’t save his love.
the wounds were too deep to patch up and the nearest hospital was 20 miles away.
“sam,” she repeated, more urgently this time, before subsiding into a minor coughing fit. the blood started coming out of her mouth as well at this point.
 “shhh, don’t speak sweetheart. you’re going to be okay. it’ll be okay. dean’s going to get cas. he’s going to heal you. it’s going to be okay,” sam said frantically. he was assuring himself of this as much as he was y/n. but both of them knew that this was the end for her. if cas didn’t get here in time then she would be gone.
her breathing became shallow as the blood pooled in her lungs. she felt like she was drowning. falling deeper. and deeper. she felt herself panic and her heart trying to pump more blood, so she could breathe but it just couldn't.
“y/n please stay with me,” sam pleaded.
“i-’m sorr..y,” she croaked out.
“promise me, y/n. promise me you-you’ll hold on. promise me that you’ll recover and, and come back. that we’ll live a long and happy life together. the one that we-we..ve always dreamed o-f. with-with a little cottage in the woods. we’re going to have three kids. three of them and a dog,” he trailed off on that last word as he sobbed, stumbling over words as he couldn’t keep himself together.
“i need you to promise me that.” he begged her once again.
“i promise. but only if you pro-mi..se me-” y/n trailed off, getting weaker with every word she said, “that you’ll move o-n. if-if i die, sam, i ne-ed you,” she gasped for air, “to move on.” sam shook his head, but y/n whispered a measly, ‘please.’ sam, looking into her glistening eyes, once so full of life and now fading from him, and nodded.
dean ran into the room, and sam whipped his head around towards him only to be met with a disappointing shake signaling that cas didn’t come.
“h-hey dean,” y/n whispered, coughing yet again only for more blood to come out, spilled over her lips and staining them red.
“hey, crazy girl. you’re going to be okay. don’t go pulling a me on us here, alright? heaven and hell are too crowded for you to be joining them,” dean said, taking one of her hands in his and weakly smiling at her. she chuckled weakly, as much as she could, before looking at him again with sad eyes.
“tak-ke care of sa-am for me. and take ca..re of yourself for me, to..o.” dean nodded at her and pressed a kiss to her forehead, one final goodbye for his closest friend and the girl he’d been so excited to see finally get married to sam.
that future was blurred now. no longer an option.
“i lo-ve you, sam” she croaked out one last time, giving him the best smile she could. she wanted him to remember her smile above anything.
“i love you too, wildflower,” sam sobbed, wiping a tear from her cheek and pressing one final kiss to her lips.
and so her heart slowed to a stop. her eyes became devoid of life. her body was fully limp. unmoving. unwavering. sam’s heart had stopped along with hers.
a final tear made its way down her cheek, like the last fall of snow in winter.
the flap of wings that they had all been praying to hear had finally come. but it was too late. too late to save her, too late to get married and have the kids they’d once dreamed about, too late to build a home together. too late.
the sound that came next made dean wince. sams sobs had turned into such agony, such rage that he screamed out as he held the body of his now-dead lover. he screamed at cas, cursing at him, the outburst so unlike him that dean had to look away, squeezing his eyes shut.
the screams turned to silent weeping as sam held y/n’s body closer to him than before, his flannel and shirt now soaked in her blood. her limp body shook in his arms as he cried.
and cried.
and cried.
until he couldn’t anymore. his cheeks and eyes were raw and red from crying. he felt so worthless in himself and in the fact that he couldn’t save her. that he couldn’t get her back. the chapter of their lives had closed, the next page blank. he kept looking into her eyes, so lifeless it terrified him. the girl who made everything she touched full of life was gone.
he’d never be able to hold her again. never see her smile, or the light shine in her eyes. so many never’s and what if’s filled his brain over and over. every new thought that seeped into his mind was so loud. it was like the thoughts were never ending, until a final thought filled his head.
the sunshine was gone and his wildflower was dead and his heart was broken, and there was no way to fix any of it. but he’d find a way. somehow. no matter how long or what it took. he’d get her back.
Third P.O.V.
Castiel:
Age: One Hour Old
" I told you, Josephine, I don't want it! " A man yells.
" What do you expect me to do with it then? Huh? This is both of our problems, okay? Both of our problems! "
The voices grow louder as Castiel nears the end of the block. The dim streetlights and light glow from the houses' porch lights send a nightmarish gleam and vibe through the street.
" Can't you just leave it with someone? Leave it at a fire station! I don't care. Just get it out of here! " The man orders.
" Ryan, I can't keep...it! I can't do this thing! Do you know what my parents will do to me? Huh? I've kept it in me for nine months! I can't take care of it anymore! Look, Ryan, I spent three hours in a rest-stop bathroom, pushing this thing out! I don't want it. You take it. " The woman, Josephine hisses while shoving a bundle at a dark man in the doorway of a house.
" I have a life, Josephine. I can't just drop everything to raise this, this abomination! I am not giving up my life for it. No, you take it somewhere and dump it. I don't care. Goodbye. " With that, the man slams the door shut on the girl.
The girl growls loudly in frustration. " Ugh!! " She looks at the bundle in her arms in frustration and looks around.
Castiel watches the girl wander down the street, hiding in the shadows. He can't just let this girl take whatever's in her arms and dump it. He needs to make sure that the thing in her arms remains safe.
" I'll just leave you...here. " The girl says unemotionally before dropping the bundle into a garbage can behind a Chinese restaurant. The entire time the girl had been holding the bundle, she'd been holding the bundle as if it were poison.
The girl looks around before running across the street in the dark.
Castiel makes his way over to the garbage can which releases a whine. A soft whine. " What is that..? " Castiel peers down into the garbage can. The bundle wiggles around. It starts crying loudly. " A child? " Castiel picks up the bundle. The baby, wrapped in a dirty t-shirt, wiggles around. The baby's teary Brown eyes look up at Castiel. " Shh, shh, child. It's alright. " Castiel looks around for a moment, not sure what to do with the crying baby. " Okay, okay, uh, you're okay. " Castiel gently brushes his fingers on the baby's forehead. The baby's cries die down and turn into sniffles. The baby snuffles into Castiel and slowly falls asleep. " What do I do with you? " Castiel asks softly to not disturb the baby's peaceful sleep.
 " I think I will keep you. Yes. I will. I will name you...Y/N. " Castiel smiles slightly as the baby lets out a content grunt. I shall protect Y/N with everything I have.
Dean:
Three Weeks Old
Dean takes a sip of the cold beer in his hand. He boredly flips through the pages of a lore book. Sam walks into the bunker with grocery bags.
" Hey, Dean. I'm back. " Sam announces.
" Okay. " Dean pushes the book in his hands aside and looks down at his phone as it dings.
Ex. Mariah
 -We need to talk.
Dean's eyebrows furrow. He hasn't seen Mariah for...months. Ever since their nasty breakup.
Dean
Why? So now you text me? After months of ignoring me?
Ex. Mariah
This is...important. Are you in town?
Dean
Yeah.
Ex. Mariah
Good. Meet me at the park we first met at, okay? Do you remember which park that is? Do you remember the spot?
Dean
Yes. I remember.
Ex. Mariah
Okay. See you in twenty.
Dean sighs. Mariah was too much drama to handle. The last time they saw each other, she accused him of cheating with almost every girl he's ever met. She could never leave anything alone. She was also weirdly possessive.
Dean pulls on his jacket and finishes off his beer before standing up. " Sammy, I'm going out. I'll be back in a little while. " Dean yells into the hallway connecting to the kitchen.
" 'Kay! " Sam calls back.
Dean hops in his car and drives down the street to the park where he meets Mariah. He pauses before turning his car off. Should he do this?
What does Mariah want?
Dean sighs and prepares himself for what's to come while dealing with Mariah. He slowly gets out of the Impala and walks towards the bench he met Mariah on. Dean shoves his hands into his jacket pocket when a cold gush of wind blows through the air.
A small cry fills Dean's heart. Dean furrows his eyebrows. Who would keep their baby out at this hour, especially in this weather? This kid doesn't sound very old.
Dean continues walking towards the bench, only to discover the crying getting louder. Dean pulls out a gun he brought with him just in case and points it to the ground while cautiously walking towards the cries. Dean quickly puts away his gun when he sees a tiny baby in a basket that's covered by a thin F/C blanket. " What the...? " Dean looks around confusedly.
Why is there a baby here? Where are its parents?
A vibration from Dean's phone distracts him from the baby. Dean looks down at the long text.
Ex. Mariah.
I'm sorry you had to find out this way. By now, you have probably reached the bench and discovered the baby. It's yours. I don't want to look after it. I have a life, and I'm sure you do too. Feel free to do whatever you want with it. Take it to a church, sell it to someone, I don't care I just can't spend my time watching it. The baby's one month old, you'll find the birth certificate and all the other important forms you'll need in the basket. It's yours to do whatever you please with. That's all I needed to tell you.
Ex. Mariah blocked you
Dean stares at his phone with his mouth dropped wide open. He re-reads the message over and over again. Dean glances down at the basket and hesitantly pulls a corner of the blanket off the basket. A tiny baby peers up at him with watery Brown eyes. The baby cries and reaches for Dean. Dean stares at the baby. " D-do I pick you up? " Dean asks cluelessly.
This earns a whine as a response from the baby. Dean gently picks up the baby. He holds the baby awkwardly while picking up a stack of pages that Mariah mentioned. There's a birth certificate, as Mariah had said there'd be, and other papers.
Dean gently rocks the baby in his arms, not sure what else to do. Dean sits down, very overwhelmed. He sets the papers back in the basket and turns his attention to the tiny human in his arms. The baby wraps Y/G's tiny finger around Dean's thumb.
At that moment, Dean's heart melted. He didn't care about another other than the adorable child in his arms. " H-hi, kiddo. " Dean says nervously, which is something very strange for Dean. He's rarely ever shy or nervous. Dean's heart fills with a strange love and feeling. " I guess I'm your dad...it's nice to meet you. "
The baby replies with a sniffle and tired whine.
Dean laughs slightly and leans back against the park bench with the baby in his arms, already sure that this baby is going to be in his life.
Sam:
Newborn
" Here's your baby, sir. Y/G's gorgeous. Looks just like you, Mr. " The nurse gently hands over a tiny bundle to its father, Sam Winchester.
Sam stares down at the baby in his arms in awe. " Hi there, sweetie. Hi. " Sam brushes his finger over the cheek of the baby. " I'm your daddy. " Sam says softly.
" There. You have your daughter. " Seraphine, the ex-girlfriend, and mother of Sam's child state annoyed. " Can you get out of my room now? I have to get rest. I plan on getting back into shape as soon as I can. "
Sam ignores the anger bubbling in his chest and glances back at Seraphine. " What is wrong with you? How can you be this way? To your child? "
Seraphine made it clear that she didn't want the kid when Y/G was born. Heck, she hadn't even wanted to carry it full term. As soon as she found out, she planned on having an abortion. Sam found out and was crushed. He'd wanted this baby. Sure, he'd never really been around children before, nor did he really like kids, but the thought of having one of his own brought a joy he wasn't very familiar with to his heart. Sam had managed to convince Seraphine to carry the baby full term and give it to him to take care of. It didn't come easy though. He had to promise to leave her alone after the baby was born and pay her a large sum of money.
" I don't care, Sam. I never wanted it. So get it and yourself out of my room, please. " Seraphine pulls out her phone and starts typing away.
" Y/G is not an ' it '. Sam seethes protectively.
A nurse walks towards him. " I'm going to take this cutie to the infant nursery. You'll be able to see Y/G in a little while after I get Y/G all cleaned up and ready. " The nurse softly takes the small baby from Sam's arms and slowly walks out of the room, towards the door.
" Yeah...whatever. I don't care. Just get out now. I will call hospital security if you don't get out. " Seraphine says stiffly as points to the hospital room door.
" Sir, I am going to have to ask you to leave. " Another nurse says to Sam as she walks towards Seraphine.
" You're rotten, I hope you know that, Seraphine. I'll have someone come in here with the papers for you to sign. " Sam walks out of the room with rage burning through his body. How could anyone refuse their child?
It doesn't matter. I'll always be there for Y/G.
" Where's the nursery? " Sam asks a passing nurse.
" Down the hall, sir. " The nurse smiles while pointing towards the nursery section.
Sam nods and thanks the woman before walking towards the nursery. Sam shoves his hands in his pockets and scans his eyes over the small babies before his eyes land on one. The baby is wrapped in an F/C blanket. The baby's E/C eyes are closed as Y/G quietly sleeps. Sam's rage slowly calms as he looks at his child in adoration.
" Which one's yours? " A man asks as he glances up at Sam.
Sam's eyes widen in surprise. He was so busy thinking, he didn't know that anyone was standing next to him. " Oh, Winchester. Right...there. " Sam points to the tiny child.
The man smiles. " Cute. Mine's over there. Williams. " The man points to a little newborn boy wrapped in a green blanket.
" Oh. He's adorable. " Sam compliments.
" Thanks. Is Y/G your first? " The man asks.
" Yup. And yours? "
" Yeah. My wife and I've been trying for a little over a year. " The guy holds out his hand to Sam. " Jake. "
" Sam. " Sam nods.
" Sammy!! " Sam turns when he hears his name being called. Sam smiles at his brother and the group of people around him.
The guy, Jake, waves his goodbye before he walks off with a nurse.
" Hey, Dean. " Sam greets.
" Where's my Niece/Nephew? " Dean asks. " I brought a few things. " Dean nods to a large number of objects in his arms. Toys, stuffed animals, and of course, a pie. And a tiny baby pie.
" A little? Dean, it looks like you bought the entire aisle at a store. " Sam jokes.
Dean shrugs. " It doesn't matter how much I got. Now, where's my Niece/Nephew? "
Sam rolls his eyes but smiles and points to the newest edition of the Winchester family.
" Dang. Y/G's so adorable! " Dean says happily while looking down at his new Niece/Nephew. This is very strange. Dean normally isn't so...this way. " Tell me again, are you sure this is your kid? " Dean asks Sam.
" Oh, stop it, ya idjit. " Bobby slaps the back of Dean's head.
Dean mutters an ' ow ' but remains looking at the baby.
" Oh, Sam, Y/G's so cute! " Jo smiles as touches the glass. She chats cheerfully along with Dean.
" Good job, Sam. " Ellen compliments. " Y/G's a beautiful child. "
" Thanks, Ellen. " Sam smiles.
" Did you talk to Seraphine? Did she change her mind? " Bobby asks.
Sam sighs. " No. She's still the same selfish woman she was when I met her. "
" That bit-" Dean begins but Ellen cuts him off.
" Dean Winchester! " Ellen scolds.
" Dean, don't swear. I thought that we were working on this. You can't keep swearing anymore, especially now that Y/N's here. " Sam says sternly.
" Y/N? That's a nice name. " Castiel says, finally speaking up. He seemed to have been in deep thought the past few minutes.
Sam smiles. " Thanks. Y/N Y/M/N Winchester. "
" Beautiful. " Ellen smiles. " That's a beautiful name. "
Sam nods.
I'll stay with you, little N/N. Even if your mother doesn't.
Crowley
Half a Year Old
" Send the hounds. " Crowley says dismissively as he boredly flips through a magazine on his throne.
" Yes, sir. " Crowley's demon servant, Marvin, nods before hurrying off.
Crowley spends the next hour on his throne, trying to amuse himself. He throws darts at his servants, prank-calls random demons in different tones, and even spies on the Winchesters.
" S-sir? " A demon says shakily.
" What is it, Marvin? Can't you see I'm busy? " Crowley asked rudely while pointing to the empty air around him.
" S-sorry sir. " Marvin stutters.
After a few moments of silence, Crowley rolls his eyes. " Did you just come in here to stare at the ground? My ground? I don't have time to waste just watching you stare at my ground. "
" I am so sorry. There, um, there was a problem with the hellhounds. " Marvin mutters.
Crowley leans forward. " What? I can't hear you, Marvin. No one can hear you. Who are you talking to? Me or the ground? "
" There was a problem. " Marvin says louder.
Crowley waits for the demon to elaborate. Nothing happens. " What was the problem? " Crowley asks. He's getting more and more annoyed by the second.
" The hellhounds killed Margot Lylard as you ordered, but, " Marvin sighs. " There was a complication. "
Crowley gestures to Marvin to continue talking.
" There was a child there. " Marvin spits out.
" So..." Crowley asks. " You came to me why? There have been people with children in the past. "
" That's the thing...the hellhounds wouldn't...attack it. They just...left. Left the child alone. And...no one here wants to...take it out since..well, the hellhounds didn't kill it. " Marvin gestures for a woman to walk in. She holds a child away from her body as she walks into the throne room. The woman places the baby in the middle of the room on the rug leading to the throne and quickly leaves.
" Bubdahmha. " The baby gurgles while patting the ground under Y/G. The baby giggles while looking around the room. The baby starts crawling towards Crowley, babbling to Y/Gself with small squeals and giggles along the way.
Crowley looks down at the small child with a blank face and cold eyes as it nears him. " Stop. " Crowley commands at the baby.
The baby makes a face and ignores Crowley, still crawling towards the King of Hell. The baby grabs at Crowley's pant legs and pulls. " Dapuhama. " The baby frowns when Crowley does nothing but stare. " Dapuhama!! " The baby frowns and dismisses the king.
" Just so you know, you filthy little human, I am the King of Hell. You cannot just simply walk..well, crawl I suppose, in here, and touch me with your filthy hands. " Crowley growls.
The baby looks up at Crowley with a small grin. " Gaga goo. "
" Humans these days. They think they're free to do as they please. " Crowley rolls his eyes. He looks up at Marvin. " Go make yourself useful and find something to do. I'll find something to do with this...human. "
" Yes, sire. " Marvin runs out of the room without a second thought.
Crowley looks down at the baby. " What's your name, little one? Huh? You're very sassy, and I do not like the way you look at me. As if you're greater or something. "
The baby doesn't respond but leans back against Crowley's legs. The baby shoves Y/G's tiny fist in their mouth.
" In a strange way...you're kind of adorable. " Crowley lifts the child who looks at him with a cute little grin. Y/G's sparkling E/C eyes crinkle slightly when they smile. " I think I'll keep you. You seem like an interesting child. If I don't know your name, I shall name you something. How about...Dylan? No. Too...not my type of name. Marley? I don't like that for a first name. Y/N. Perfect. You are now Y/N Y/M/N Crowley. Wonderful. We shall conspire together once you grow up to an appropriate age. Yes, we will. "
We will have so much fun planning together.
Hi sweetness! I’ve got a number of ideas for both Beau and Dean but I hope you enjoy this one for “you’d make a cute elf” and I will be sure to tag you in other posts with Secret Santa and Sitting by a Fire! Thank you for your support, Love ❤️❤️❤️
𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: Christmas isn’t celebrated often by the Winchesters and it mostly depended on if they were tangled up in saving the world again or occupied with another hunt. This year, though, you wanted to make sure Sam and Dean would be able to celebrate the holidays and enjoy themselves for once.
𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: None, just a bunch of Christmas fluff!
Tumblr media
The Holiday season seemed to be up in the air every year for the Winchesters. Sometimes they would be able to celebrate, other times they were typically on yet another hunt and they were neck deep in whatever they were doing to celebrate. Let’s say the average Christmas the Winchesters had was maybe once every five years or so.
This year, though, you were determined to give the Winchesters the best Christmas they’ve ever had, whether they were on a hunt or not. You noticed that in the three years that you’ve lived in the bunker with them, that they never even decorate! This would be your fourth Christmas with the brothers and you were determined for that to change.
This was your favorite time of the year, not that it was necessarily always wonderful like the song implied, but you were the type of person that liked to give gifts, you liked to surprise people. You wanted to surprise Sam and Dean and make them happy, give them something to look forward to even though they didn’t know they were supposed to look forward to something when they’d come home.
Dean, your boyfriend of a year and a half, and his little brother were off in Montana somewhere for a week for some hunt that they thought could be a Wendigo. You wouldn’t know the results of the hunt until they would come back but in the meantime, you had a mission of your own.
You took one of the bigger vehicles in the Bunker’s garage, one that had a big enough bed in the back to fit whatever decorations you needed. Of course you knew that you could always order offline, but you wanted to go out and about. There was just something different about shopping in person every once in a while that you enjoyed.
You found yourself at the nearest Walmart and you were glad that it was still early December so not all of the decorations were limited. You went to the holiday section in the store and saw all of the different ornaments and began to wonder what the boys would like.
“They’re all about flannel…” You spoke to yourself under your breath so you started to look at some red and black, possibly some silver ornaments. You saw some of those colors and you picked them up and put them in the cart you were pushing around. Then you came across the other ornaments that were a little more random, others would call them a little more personal.
Your eyes widened when you saw two specific animals, a moose and a squirrel. Both of them were wearing adorable little Christmas caps and you instantly picked them up and put them in the cart, knowing you couldn’t possibly pass those up. Then you saw a computer ornament that would be perfect for Sam, a pie for Dean, a pair of cowboy boots because you knew Dean liked his cowboys and western tings, then you picked up a magnifying glass for Sam since he liked true crime related things with serial killers and unsolved mysteries.
Then you were even able to find some ornaments for yours and the boys’ friends and you thought they would be good additions to the tree. You grabbed a fairy for Charlie since she liked fantasy, although you thought it would be better if it were a dragon or even a D20, but maybe you could find something like that online if you changed your mind later down the road. For Jody Mills, you found a star since she was a sheriff. For Garth, you found a little wolf since he was a lycanthrope now. As for some of your other friends, you would need to shop online for some of their ornaments such as Castiel. You thought it would be a little too cliche to get angel wings as Cass’ ornament, but maybe a trenchcoat? Or possibly a giraffe since you knew Crowley had called him that once or maybe twice.
Along with the ornaments, you grabbed some red and silver garland and you even found some red cardinals that you thought were adorable, so you picked up a few of those as well. They were one of your favorite birds especially since you liked the meaning behind them and what it meant when one would visit you.
While you were on the hunt for any other decorations for the bunker, you could hear your phone ringing. You pulled out the device from your pocket and smiled when you saw Charlie’s name pop up on the screen. You answered the call instantly and held up the phone to your ear, “Hey, Stranger!”
“What’s up, bitch!” You laughed at her typical greeting.
“It’s good to hear from you! How’ve you been?” You asked as you grabbed a wreath for the door.
“I’ve been good. Little busy now that I’ve started hunting too, but it’s nothing too hectic right now. What have you been up to?” Charlie asked on the other line.
“Well, other than struggling to keep the boys in line when they’re home, things have been pretty good. I’m actually at the store getting some decorations for the bunker as a surprise. You know it’s been almost four years since I’ve lived with them and they haven’t celebrated Christmas?”
“Damn, that long? Well I know they’ll be super excited. You said it was a surprise? Are they gone from the bunker right now?”
“Yeah, some hunt in Montana. They’ll be gone for a week so I wanted to do this while they were away.”
“Well let me help you! I’m in the neighborhood right now actually so I can help you decorate the joint so you don’t have to do it all by yourself.” She insisted and you grinned.
“Really? That would be a great help.”
“Of course! You know I’d do anything for you and those boys! Do you want me to pick up anything before I head on over?” Charlie asked and you hummed as you tried to think.
“Well, not that I can think of right now. But how long will you be in town? I’m starting to wonder if we should have some kind of tree decorating party or something at the bunker and get some friends over.” You admitted.
“People still do that kind of thing? Honestly I probably won’t be in town that long but I’ll make you a deal for next year. If you manage to decorate the bunker next year and you plan out a tree decoration party or whatever, then I’ll go and even let Garth know about it if I run into him!” Charlie promised.
“But for now since it’s been a while for the boys, what if the three of you decorated the tree by yourselves this year and make it special. And don’t forget the mistletoe.” You could hear your friend chuckle on the other line and you smiled.
“Yeah, I supposed Dean would get a kick out of that.” You chuckled.
“Let me know when you’re on the way back to the bunker and I’ll meet you there!”
After the phone call you realized that you had gotten a text from Dean and you grinned. It was sweet that he would check in every once in a while when he was away on a hunt just so you knew he was okay and hadn’t been killed or anything like that.
DW: Hey, Sweetheart. Sammy and I got to the hotel already and now we’re off to the camp grounds to see if this really could be a Wendigo we’re dealing with.
Y/N: Hey! I’m glad you guys made it to the hotel! If you need anything just let me know, and be safe out there!
DW: Will do, Darlin. I’ll call you sometime tonight.
You smiled at the thought of him calling that night.
When you put the phone in your pocket, you left the decoration section and started looking at Christmas trees. You wanted the perfect tree to put in the Bunker. You weren’t sure if you wanted the tree to be pre-lit or not, although it would be a little more convenient that way. You didn’t exactly want to struggle with untangling those lights.
Honestly you hadn’t had any idea the types of trees people came up with. You were under the impression for so long that Christmas trees were just green, sometimes pre-lit, but the only difference you thought of were the sizes. But as you walked through the store, you saw that there were white trees, some of the trees had some sort of artificial snow on them, some of the trees were different colors like pink, red, purple or even blue, and you saw some black trees as well.
You supposed a lot of people were more creative to come up with some sort of themes and use these trees. Maybe they used Pinterest a lot. You thought the boys would prefer a traditional tree, so that was what you were going with.
Once you found the perfect tree for the Bunker, you bought it and one of the workers helped you get it to the car. You just hoped that this little surprise would put a smile on Sam and Dean’s faces.
They deserved a little positivity in their lives.
Tumblr media
That week seemed to have passed by faster than you thought that it would and you couldn’t thank Charlie enough for helping you decorate the Bunker earlier this week. The place looked great and you were so excited for their reactions.
You knew that the boys would be coming home tonight so you decided to go ahead and make something for dinner. You knew Dean needed a break from the burgers and fries, at least according to both you and Sam.
You were in the kitchen and you were making some Philly cheesesteak stuffed bell peppers. It was simply a recipe that you found off Pinterest that was a little different. It was something a little healthier that you knew your boyfriend’s brother would appreciate. You thought Dean might like the Philly cheesesteaks aspect of it, but just incase he didn’t you had a cherry pie baked.
While you were in the middle of taking peppers out of the oven so you could put the pie in the oven, you heard the door open followed by two sets of footsteps. Of course you knew exactly who they belonged to and once you put the pie in the oven, you took off your apron and started walking out so you could see the look on their faces.
Just as you were beginning to make it into the bunker you could hear Dean’s voice first, “Y/N?”
“I’m here.” You chuckled and both the boys saw you from the top of the stairs before looking back out in the lobby area of the bunker.
You and Charlie had strung up lights along the railing of the stairs, there were lights wrapped around the pillars that would lead to each room. On the table that was practically a global map, you had a red and black plaid flannel tablecloth as well as some cotton stuffing to resemble fake snow on the table. On top of the stuffing, you had a little Christmas village that had sort of a western theme to it that you knew Dean would love.
Of course that would be the first thing the boys would see but you had a bit more up your sleeve than that.
“Hey, boys! How did it go?” You asked with a smile as the two started walking down the stairs.
“It went well, but what is all this? When did you have the time for all of this?” Dean asked.
“Well while the two of you were out this week, I thought I’d decorate the place.” You grinned proudly.
“This looks amazing, Y/N. You didn’t have to do it all by yourself, did you?” Sam asked and you shook your head.
“Nope. Luckily for me, Charlie happened to be in town so she helped me out with a lot of it, if not most of it. I just wrapped up the finishing touches this morning.” You admitted.
“Wait, Charlie was here too? She was in on this whole thing?” Dean asked and you nodded.
“Yep! I told her that it would be a surprise for you boys and she hopped right on the opportunity to jump in when she could. But now she’s on her way to Wyoming if I’m not mistaken.”
“We’ll definitely have to give her a call and tell her thanks for the help on this.” Dean insisted and you smiled.
“And I’m sure she’d love to get a call from the both of you. Now go and wash up so we can eat dinner. You both smell like sweat and Wendigo guts.” You laughed.
“Alright, alright. We’ll go.” Sam said and he was the first to walk off to the library.
“Thanks for the surprise, Darlin.” Dean said before he leaned down and kissed your forehead.
“Oh this isn’t all of-“ you started to add before you were interrupted.
“Dean! You’re gonna want to see this!” You both could hear Sam calling from the library, causing you to smile a little smugly.
“What did you do?” Dean asked you, only for you to shrug.
“Why don’t you go with your brother and find out?” You smirked.
Dean raised a brow before he started walking into the library. You walked beside him because you couldn’t wait to see the reaction on his face. The moment when you saw Dean’s expression turn from confusion to excitement, you knew that all of this was worth it. This was exactly the expression you wanted to see as you watched the smile appear on his face.
“Holy smokes!”
On the tables where Sam, Dean and you all tended to do research, you had some plaid table clothes that matched the one in the lobby. These just didn’t have any snow or villages on them. Instead, these tables still had the lamps on top of them but they also had some candles that would make the room smell a little more like Christmas when they were lit up.
Along the bookshelves, you had some lights on the tops of them as well as some more of the fake snow. There were some penguins and some polar bears on the tops of the shelves that weren’t occupied by some kind of legendary weapon and what not. Then on the other pillars in the library, you had wrapped some lights around those as well.
Finally, in the opening and in front of the telescope at the end of the library was a tall, pre-lit, plain looking Christmas tree that was just waiting to be decorated.
“Y/N, this just keeps getting better and better! This is amazing!” Dean insisted and you chuckled a little.
“I’m glad you like it, but you guys go ahead and wash up and get dressed in something more comfortable. I’ll finish up with dinner and after that we can decorate the tree.” You insisted.
“You sound like such a mom, Y/N” Sam laughed and you snickered.
“Careful, Sammy. She could take your laptop privileges if you don’t do what she says.” Dean teased back.
“Or I can take your pie privileges and you won’t get any after dinner. Which would be a shame because it’ll be fresh out of the oven too.” You said and put your hands on your hips.
“She told you. And it would be a shame if you lost pie privileges. It smells like it’s cherry too.” Sam said.
You watched as Dean’s eyes widened and he rushed to the room so he could hurry up and get washed up and changed, causing you and Sam to laugh amongst yourselves. It was like there was nothing on God’s earth that could keep Dean away from pie.
Once everyone was changed into something more comfortable you guys ate dinner. Sam was dressed in a navy blue v-neck with some black pajama pants, Dean had a black t-shirt that was a little snug and some red and black plaid pajama pants, and you had on one of dean’s black shirts and some green sweatpants with a little snowman on one of the pant legs.
Dinner was a little amusing you supposed. Of course Dean complained about dinner not being something greasy like a burger or pizza. Sam seemed to like it though, but both you and Sam found it amusing that after the complaining, Dean ended up getting seconds. It never hurt to change things up a bit, give his intestines a change of pace.
Then a little while after, you guys had a slice of the cherry pie, which Dean practically inhaled in a matter of minutes. Then again you couldn’t expect anything less from the pie loving man.
After dinner, you cleared off the table and you three decided to go ahead and decorate the Christmas tree!
You played a little Christmas music in the background and watched as the two hunters tried to figure out how they should arrange the garland on the tree. Then came some of the cardinals, and eventually it was time for the ornaments!
“Where do you think people get the idea for some of these ornaments. I mean who decided it would be a good idea for these animals to be on a tree?” Sam asked while he was hanging up his little moose. Naturally it was in a higher spot on the tree since he was practically a giant.
“Maybe zookeepers wanted to have Christmas trees too.” Dean chuckled as he hung up his squirrel somewhere in the middle.
You smiled as you hung up the fairy that reminded you of Charlie on the tree. You hoped that all of your friends were doing well and that they would be able to celebrate Christmas too one way or another.
“Okay, random thought.” You started so you guys could have some kind of conversation while decorating, “Santa Claus… real or not real?”
“Are you kidding? No, he’s not real.” Sam said right off the bat.
“Wait, why not, Sammy? I mean we’ve come across less believable things. Hell, your imaginary friend turned out to be real.” Dean piped up.
“Come on, Dean. No one, magic or otherwise, cannot travel the entire world in a single night and manage to hit up every single house or apartment.”
“Okay but you forget,” You said, “Not all of the houses necessarily celebrate Christmas, nor do they have children in some of the houses. So that eliminates some of the houses that he would have to go to.”
“Yeah, not to mention that even with the houses that do have kids celebrating Christmas, they may not believe in Santa either and their parents buy them gifts instead. So there goes even more of the houses that he would need to visit.” Dean continued.
“Okay okay, I guess I’ll buy that argument but that still leaves like a zillion houses either way you look at it. And then there’s the amount of time that it would take for Santa to get to those houses. It takes Dean and I a couple of days to go to certain states just here in the US. Santa has to travel internationally.” Sam argued.
“Okay, while I firmly believe that Baby has a magic all her own, we don’t exactly have a sleigh or flying reindeer, Sammy.” Dean reminded.
“Have you guys stopped to consider the fabled magic Santa has? What if he’s just some kind of which or sorcerer? He could easily have placed a spell on the reindeer or even attached hex bags to the reins, or hidden them in the sleigh itself.” You reminded.
“Then there are the time zones. That could extend some of Santa’s time.” Dean chimed in.
“I’ll believe the hex bags, maybe the whole time zone thing. But until we actually come across Santa Claus himself on some random case, then I’ll believe it when I see him with my own two eyes.” Sam said skeptically.
“Such a skeptic, Sammy. Weren’t you the one that believed in angels before I did, way before we met Cass?” Dean laughed.
“That’s different!”
“Oh yeah? How’s that different?”
“Well there’s proof of Biblical events happening in history, and if evidence of miracles happening then angels had to be real too. Then Cass pulled you out of perdition as he likes to call it.” Sam reminded.
You smiled and shook your head as the boys bickered before you spoke again, “Guys, moving on. Why don’t we exchange gifts this year?”
“I don’t see why not. But if we did, who would play Santa that night and hand the gifts out to everyone?” Sam asked.
“I think that’s one of those things where we can cross that bridge when we come to it.” Dean answered, not really wanting to make that choice that early, but then he stepped back to look at the tree.
“I think this looks great.” He smiled fondly, then you and Sam took a step back to look at it as well.
“I do too. This turned out really great.” Sam said with a grin, crossing his arms over his chest as he looked at the work the three of you had done that evening.
You smiled as you admired the once plain looking tree now covered in red and silver garland, the red, black and silver ornaments turned out to look nice with the tree as well. The special ornaments to remember all of your friends and family gave it that personal touch it needed to be the perfect Christmas tree after all.
“Now all it needs is the topper.” You said.
Sam nodded and he walked over to the box and pulled out the silvery star to put on top of the tree since he was the tallest. After initially putting the star on, he had to adjust it a little but once it was on top of the tree, it was complete.
“Perfect.” You smiled happily.
“Alright… I don’t know about you guys, but I’m beat from the hunt and the drive home. I think I’m gonna head to bed.” Sam said and both you and Dean looked over.
“Rest well, Sam.” You insisted.
“We’ll take the day off tomorrow instead of looking for another case.” Dean said and Sam nodded.
“Sounds good to me. Night guys.”
You smiled to yourself whenever you watched Sam walking off, both boys deserved the day off. It was definitely well deserved.
Then you felt Dean’s arm wrap around your waist. You lifted and glanced up at him and saw that his attention was on the tree again. It was like he couldn’t get the smile off his face, which made you so glad. It was like it had been so long since he’s had a genuine smile like this.
“You aren’t happy, are you?” You asked in a joking tone.
“No, not in the slightest.” You snickered when he joked back before he looked down at you.
“You know, if you ended up being the ‘Santa’ this year, I could always be your elf.” You pointed out.
“And you’d make a cute elf. We’d have to make sure that Santa won’t come and snatch you.” Dean chuckled before he leaned down and pecked your lips.
“Oh! That reminds me!” You said and you got out of his grasp to go and look for one last thing.
Dean lifted a brow, the curiosity getting the best of him, and he watched you go through the boxes on top of one of the research tables as if you were looking for something specific.
Then he watched you pull out one of the most iconic plants this time of year other than the poinsettia. You pulled out some mistletoe that had a red ribbon tied in a bow attached to it. Dean couldn’t help but grin, “Really?”
“What?” You snickered.
“I can’t believe you actually went and bought some mistletoe.”
“I had to! I couldn’t resist.” You shrugged with an innocent look on your face, “Now, help me think of where we can hang this up.”
“I think I have an idea of where to hang it.” Dean spoke as he took the mistletoe from you, then he held your hand with his free one.
You lifted a brow but followed him, intertwining your fingers and you ended up at you shared bedroom door, making you smirk and look back at Dean, “Really? Here?”
“Why not? I think it’s the perfect spot.” Dean chuckled and you rolled your eyes playfully.
“Fine, I suppose we can put it there.” You agreed and watched as Dean went into the bedroom and grabbed whatever tool’s he’d need to hang up the mistletoe. Eventually, he managed to screw a hook just above the door and he hung the mistletoe from it with some string, then he looked at it.
“There we go, I think that’ll work just fine.” He said as he set his tools down on the table in his room that was next to the door. You could watch him since his door was still open then he stepped back out where you were and you found yourselves beneath said mistletoe.
Dean placed a large hand on your hip and you stepped closer to him. Of course you knew this was the whole reason he wanted to hang the decor above his door, but you didn’t mind. Not actually.
You gazed into his eyes and saw that his gaze was softer than normal, “Thank you… for all of this. Honestly this has probably been one of the best nights I’ve had in a long time.”
You grinned at his words before you reached up and placed your hand on his slightly stubbled cheek since he hadn’t shaved all week, and you felt him lean into your touch before you spoke, “I’m happy to do it for you.”
“Dean, both you and your brother deserve so much. You two risk your lives to save the world constantly. You deserve to have a merry Christmas instead of only celebrating it every so often. You’re so deserving of joy and happiness and this was honestly the least I can do.”
You watched as Dean moved his cheek from your hand as he tucked a strand of hair behind your ear before he looked down at you, “Y/N, you have already made me incredibly happy just by being by my side. I have that joy all year round just because I have you here and honestly, I don’t know what kind of a man I would have turned out to be if you weren’t here.”
“Probably someone that’s a little more reckless than usual maybe. Maybe a little more self sacrificial.” You teased and Dean playfully rolled his eyes, although he knew it likely would have been the truth.
“You know what I mean though.” Dean said and you nodded a little.
“I love you, Y/N.. more than you’ll ever know.” He said in a softened tone, causing your heart to race.
Sure you’ve said those words to each other before, but it was in the moments like these where the words held a different kind of weight to them.
“I love you too, Dean. More than words can express.”
You felt Dean’s hand move from your cheek to the back of your neck as he leaned down, capturing your lips in a sweet kiss. Your eyes fluttered to a lose as you relaxed against his embrace. His touch always made you feel warm, comforted even. His kisses always seemed to take you out of reality.
Life may not have been perfect for these boys, but you knew you wouldn’t want any other kind of life. As long as you were with Dean, that was all you could ask for. Dean was the sweetest kind of addiction you could have had.
When Dean pulled away, he looked down at you and smiled. Then out of nowhere, he picked you up and you wrapped your legs around your waist as he carried you off into your shared bedroom.
As he shut the door behind himself, you leaned in and kissed him once more as the two of you enjoyed the night together.
‘Your little hands wrapped around my finger. And it's so quiet in the world tonight
Dean didn’t understand what his parents had meant when they told him he would be a big brother. All he knew was that his mom had a baby in her stomach and in a few month’s the baby would come out.
Now his mom smiled softly as she gently placed a small baby on his lap. He grinned at her from his spot on the hospital bed before looking down at the baby. “She’s so small.” He looked between his parents and his dad chuckled at his comment. “You were that small once bud.”
Dean looked at him with wide eyes. “I was?” He sounded almost astonished at his Dads comment as both his parents fell into quiet laughter. After a moment he felt something grip onto his small thumb and his attention was drawn back down to his sister.
Her little hand had wrapped around his thumb and she was now gazing up at him. “I think she likes you.” His mom whispered before pressing a kiss to his head. Dean grinned up at her for a moment before cuddling further into her chest.
He still didn’t truly understand what his parents meant by being a big brother, but he knew that he would always protect her from this moment onwards.
‘I won't let anybody hurt you, won't let anyone break your heart. And no one will desert you. Just try to never grow up, never grow up'
“Dean. Are you awake?” Your brother let out a small groan before rolling over to face you. “Y/n it's three in the morning why are you awake?” He frowned at you before a look of concern took over his face. As his eyes adjusted to the dark he noticed the unleashed tears brimming your eyes and the way your hands shook slightly.
“I killed someone.” Your voice was barely a whisper as you spoke. Your hands seemed to shake harder as you gripped the thin sheets closer to your chest. “Someone dead cause of me.”
Dean shook his head sitting up and pulling you with him. “No. You didn’t kill someone ok. They were bitten and had fed y/n, it was only a matter of time before they turned.” He kept his voice low not wanting to wake Sam or your Dad who were both asleep across the room.
“Still. He hadn’t turned yet.” You sniffled leaning onto his chest. “Dad told me this job is about saving people Dean. How is that saving people.” Your brother didn’t say anything as he wrapped his arms around you tighter.
You were only 14, you shouldn’t have to deal with this. Hell, he never imagined that at 16 he would be spending his time cleaning guns and learning how to kill monsters. Dean understood why his Dad did what he did and he understood why he’d chosen now to start letting you on hunts but at the same time, it made him feel slightly sick.
The idea of his little sister doing this job left him with a bad feeling in his stomach (he didn't want to even think of Sam doing it) Dean swayed slightly as he tried to soothe you as best he could. “I know you don't think it now, but you did the right thing y/n. I promise.”
You nodded against his chest before pulling back and whipping at your eyes. “Come on. We need to be up in a few hours.” Your brother moved to lie down before opening his arms for you. You happily settled into his arms, feeling his hand run through your hair.
You both lay in silence for a while. The sound of his heartbeat slowly lulled you back to a dreamless sleep.
Dean closed his eyes sucking in a breath before relaxing. Life was so much easier when you were younger. If he had it his way you and Sam would never have to worry about the things that went bump in the night. He’d happily let you both live in peaceful ignorance as long as you were both safe and happy.
Sam watched you staring at the dining table chairs. He’d come up behind you and you hadn’t seemed to notice him yet. He didn’t want to interrupt your moment, but he was worried if he tried to back away you’d hear and it’d make it even more awkward.
You sighed and then started to head to the collection of cushions on the floor.
“You know,” he said gently, trying not to startle you, “you don’t have to start with the hardest thing first.”
“Huh?”
“Chairs seem like they have a lot of baggage. You were literally tortured by the collar when Dean tried to get you to sit on one, and I’m sure there was worse. But what if you start with something that doesn’t have that association?”
“Like what?”
“I dunno, the kitchen bench, the table itself, the top of the step ladder?”
You turned to look at the bench. You seemed to contemplate it for a few moments before heading over to over to it. You ran your hands along it.
“This could work,” you murmured. You turned around, putting the heels of your hand on the edge of the bench. You looked like you were testing your weight on your wrists, deciding whether to lift up. He would offer to lift you, but he had a feeling this was something you’d want to do by yourself.
He turned to the pantry, busying himself so you didn’t feel like he was staring. He heard a noise behind him and had to force himself not to turn around. You didn’t sound hurt, you didn’t need him. You needed privacy.
He gave it a minute or so before he turned back to you. There you were, sitting on the bench. You looked a little apprehensive but not too bad. He smiled at you then continued busying himself getting breakfast ready.
He heard Dean’s footsteps enter the kitchen. “Wa-hey Bambi! You’re airborne again!”
Sam watched your whole face light up at Dean’s joke. It was adorable how you two acted with each other when you weren’t freaking out about the other one’s reactions.
Dean headed over to you, leaning against the bench next to you. Sam took that cue to busy himself again, although he was running out of things to do to get breakfast given he was just getting out cereal. He could still hear the conversation, but at least he didn’t look like he was intruding.
“How you feeling?” Dean asked.
“I mean, it’s not quite comfortable, you know? But it’s not that bad. It’s kinda nice being up high too.”
“Yeah, you almost made it to a sensible height.” Sam could hear Dean’s voice turn to teasing you.
“Oh? Is only your height sensible, is it?”
“Of course!”
“Sam, you got an opinion on that?” you called to him.
Sam turned around, glad he didn’t have to keep pretending he was getting out cutlery. “Hey, hey, I support people of all statures. I’ve never been to jail for a hate crime against little people.”
You looked at Dean, shocked but still smiling.
“Oi! That was not a hate crime!” Dean replied indignantly. “I was trying to tell you that the problem was fairies.”
You giggled. “You fought fairies?”
“Yeah, look, just because things have a cute name doesn’t mean they’re not problematic.”
“And you solved that by going to jail?”
“What? No. Look, whose side are you on?”
“Anyone who’s against you, obviously!” You stuck your tongue out at Dean. The flirting was really reaching fever pitch now, Sam thought.
“Sassy Bambi has come out today, I see.”
“Aww, did Sassy Bambi hurt Ickle Dean’s feelings?”
Sam was very torn. On the one hand, he wanted you two to get together, if that’s what you both wanted. On the other, he didn’t really want to be incredibly awkwardly third-wheeling your first hook-up while holding cereal.
“So, uh, breakfast?” Sam said, holding up the cereal and spoons. You two could recreate the moment. Alone.
---
“You ok?” Sam asked Dean quietly when they were alone.
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?”
“You literally woke me up because you were terrified you’d scared Y/N.”
“Oh, uh, yeah. All good.”
“So we’re not going to have any more ‘Missing woman found in own bedroom’ moments?”
“Shut up, bitch.”
“Just checking...”
---
Dean walked in to the library to find you sitting on the table, looking at the phone Sam had gotten you yesterday. “Heya Bambi,” he said.
“Hi Squirrel.”
He raised his eyebrow, fixing you with a glare.
You laughed.
“What you up to?” you asked after a moment, turning the conversation.
“I was thinking of looking for a case. One we, umm, could take you to, but only if you promise to stay in the motel. Or you can stay here, if you want.”
You turned your head on the side, looking quizzically at him. “You have changed, haven’t you?”
“Huh?”
“Maybe I mean ‘you listened’, rather than changed.”
“Sweetheart, you gotta be less pensive if you want the rest of the class to follow you.”
“I just- I’m happy. I said I didn’t want to be treated like I was fragile, and you’re finally not. Well, in your own overprotective way.”
He scratched his neck, awkward. “Umm, yeah. Ok. So, do you wanna help look...?”
“Can we go practice some moves first?”
“If you’re not ready, we can wait.”
“No, I’m ready. I just want to remind myself that I can do this before we do.”
“And getting to hit me reminds you of that, does it?” he said with a smirk.
“Oh, I mean, that’s absolutely a side benefit. Hell, that’s the whole goal some days.”
He put on his best bitch face. You playfully clapped your hand on his chest as you jumped off the table.
---
“Is it easier?” Dean asked you.
“Is what easier?”
“Sitting on the bench.” He gestured to where you were perched, watching him cook.
“Umm, I think so. The chair is just...” You trailed off.
“Too much?”
“Yeah.”
“Fair enough.”
Dean kept cooking, not noticing you staring at your fingers.
“Sometimes I worry I won’t ever be normal,” you said quietly.
He turned to you. “Sweetheart, you’ve been sitting on furniture for one day. You’ve been healing and making huge progress.” He reached forward and cupped your cheek. “And yeah, maybe you won’t. Sammy and I have been through some shit and we’re not the same, we’re not normal. But we’re ok.”
“If I’m not normal, how am I going to leave?”
He froze, “Do you- do you want to leave?” He dropped his hand.
“Don’t you want your freedom back? I appreciate you’re willing to take me to a case to stay in a motel, but I’m sure eventually that’ll be annoying or unsuitable.”
“Logistics is not a reason to leave,” he said in a choked voice.
A small smile appeared on your face. He breathed again, a small glimmer of hope igniting within. “Do you... Do you want me to stay?” you asked in a very small voice.
“If you wa-” he started, then noticed your face falling. He steeled himself, if he didn’t take this moment you would be gone forever. “I mean- yes, Bambi, I want you to stay.”
“You’re not just saying that to be nice?”
“I was telling you it was your choice to be nice. What I want...” he moved closer again. “What I want is-”
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP
Dean span. Fuck, the smoke alarm was going off, he’d burnt dinner. He quickly crossed to the pan, turning off the burner and trying to deal with the mess. He could see you’d jumped off the bench behind him and we’re trying to fan the smoke away, and Sam came running in to help.
Later, when it was over, Sam turned to Dean. “What were you doing? Not like you to be so distracted.”
“I, uh-” Dean started.
“It’s my fault, I was distracting him,” you answered.
Sam smirked. “Well, maybe I’ll leave you two to the clean up then.”
“Yeah, sure, Sammy, we’ll clean it all up. Might be eggs on toast for dinner though.”
Sam nodded and headed out, a grin on his face. Dean didn’t have time to wonder about that as he turned back to find you biting your lip and looking up at him.
“Where were we?” he asked you playfully.
“Well, I was over here,” you said moving towards the bench. Dean reached forward and lifted you up, sitting you on top of the bench. You giggled.
“And I think I was here,” he said, moving closer.
You spread your legs a little and pulled him to stand between them. “I think this is a better place, don’t you?”
“Certainly has some advantages. And as I’ve said before, I like what your newfound bench sitting does for your height.” He reached his hand to cup your face again.
“Oh? Does that present some advantages too?”
“Can certainly think of some uses.” He leaned forward, watching your reactions. You were smiling and leaning forward.
He bent down slightly and kissed you.
Finally.
Shifters
Dean Winchester x Fem!reader established relationship
Other Characters: Sam Winchester
Warnings: canon violence, language?, guns, kidnapping, mention of wounds, that’s it I think?
Summary: While Sam and Dean are out doing surveillance, shifters come in and take her
Word Count: 2337
I was tasked with the research while the boys went out to watch the man we were sure was our shifter. I had been sat on my motel bed for a few hours, music playing softly in the background while I read from the lore books Sam gave me. Dean had promised that they wouldn’t be too long, so I wasn’t overly worried that they had been gone for about two hours. I simply figured they had stopped for food and would be on their way back shortly.
It was now nearing midnight and I was tempted to call Dean and ask where they were when there was a sudden knock on the door. I sat the book down next to my phone on the bed and stood, holding tightly to the ivory gripped pistol Dean had given me for my birthday. My feet made no noise as I went to the door to peek through the hole. My eyes caught sight of Dean standing on the other side, Sam behind him. I sighed loudly and put the gun into the back waistband of my jeans. “You forgot your key, didn’t you?” I asked as I pulled the door open.
“Not exactly.” Both boys walked in and as I shut the door, I noticed Sam closing the curtains to the window. I felt my nerves skyrocket instantly. I slowly walked over to the two Winchester boys and stood beside Sam as Dean sat on the bed.
“How did the research go?” I asked, trying to see if I had a reason to suddenly be nervous, Dean should give me an odd look and tell me they didn’t do research, that I did.
Dean looked up at me. “Went okay, I guess. I don’t think we found anything to go off of though.”
I forced a smile on my lips and snagged my phone from the bed. “I’m gonna go grab a soda. You boys want anything?”
“Nope.” Dean said and Sam shook his head. My fingers wrapped around my bag and a brown coat that belonged to Dean as I walked out the door. I stepped into the hall and pulled my phone from my pocket as I walked over to the vending machine. My eyes trailed across the parking lot, looking for the familiar Impala, but I didn’t see it. As I stopped at the machine, I pressed on Dean’s name and put the phone up to my ear.
“Hello?” Dean asked as he answered the phone. “You ok? How’s the research going?”
My blood ran cold. “I need you guys to get back here, now.” I tried keeping my voice calm as I walked away from the vending machine and out into the parking lot, sliding Dean’s brown jacket over my green tank top.
“Why? What’s wrong?” Dean’s voice was panicked, and I heard the Impala rumble to life as two doors shut. “Are you ok?”
I took a deep breath and glanced over my shoulder towards the motel room. “No. There’s shifters in our room.” My hands shook as I tried finding a car that I could break into without the alarm going off. “Please, come get me now.” Just as I stopped walking, I was suddenly aware of the presence behind me and before I could turn, or alert Dean, I was hit, and my vision went black.
!@#$%&*
Mumbled talking woke me up. I groaned as I pulled my head up and took in my surroundings. It was cold, dark, and damp, everything that described the sewers, great. “She’s awake.” I could hear Dean’s voice drift through the room. My arms tugged against the bindings and I glanced down to see thick wire wrapped around my skin under the coat, already creating cuts. “How are you feeling? Got a headache?”
“Go to hell.” I said, doing my best to glare at the shifters in front of me. “What do you want?”
Both shifters laughed. “Years ago, two other monsters caused a lot of issues for the Winchesters, going on that killing spree and sending the FEDS after you. Remember that?” Sam taunted me, a smirk on his face. “Why not do it again? And start with the pretty little girl they run around with.”
“Poor Dean will be heartbroken if he comes to rescue you, only to find you already dead, and by the gun he gave you too.” The Dean shifter stated, waving my pistol around in the air. I froze in my spot on the damp floor at the sight of my gun. “But let’s have some fun first.”
!@#$%&*
             Nearly four hours passed, and I was now littered with bruises and cuts. Sweat covered my body and my head pounded with a headache. The shifters had ditched me about twenty minutes ago when they realized the boys were close to finding their hiding place. My pistol was on the ground about ten feet away from me but with the bindings on my wrists that tied me to a concrete post, I wasn’t going anywhere.
I had been working to undo the wires around my wrists for five minutes and I was now able to yank my right hand out and turn in order to get my left. Just as I could make out footsteps from behind me, I managed to get my gun and aim it at the intruders coming in to finish me off. “You take one step closer to me and I will blow your freaking heads off!” I shouted at the two sets of footsteps coming closer to my fragile body.
“Sweetheart?” Dean’s voice trailed through the concrete. “It’s me, and Sammy. We’re here to take you home.” He rounded the corner slowly with Sam right behind him, they both had their hands up in the air.
My heart pounded because I wanted to believe so badly that he was my Dean, but I couldn’t trust him yet. “Put your guns on the ground.” Both Winchesters complied without saying a word, setting their guns down on the ground and gently nudging them closer to me. “How do I know you’re the real Dean and Sam?”
Sam stepped forward and with my fear, I moved the gun over to him, making his hands raise even higher in the air. “You were doing research earlier, for the case. We went out to watch our suspect, obviously we got the wrong guy.” He gave me the answer I was looking for from the shifters in our room.
My eyes flashed to Dean then, waiting to hear what he was going to say. “Give me the ring.” I sent him a confused look, keeping my gun up. “The one you wear around your neck on the chain, the one that matches yours. Give it to me. It’s solid silver, right? If I were a shifter, I wouldn’t be able to wear it or even touch it without burning my skin. Give it to me.”
“Ok. You move when I get the ring and I swear I’ll shoot.” The Sam and Dean in front of me nodded, stepping back half a foot and allowing me to pull the ring off the chain and toss it over to Dean. He caught it and slipped it onto his left ring finger. “See, it’s me.” My pistol slipped from my fingers and dropped to the ground with a clank as Dean rushed over to me, tucking me into his chest as I sobbed. “I got you. You’re ok now, you’re safe.” He was whispering into my hair as I cried into his shoulder and clung to his body. I’ve never been more scared in my life than I was when I didn’t know if I could trust the Dean in front of me, since I knew my Dean would never hurt me.
“Did you kill them?” I asked once I was able to find my voice.
“Yeah baby. We got it. Damn thing looked like Sam.” He reassured me and helped me to stand.
I snagged my gun from the ground and held it tightly. “What about the other one? The one playing you?”
“We only found the one. Are you sure there was two?”
I nodded quickly. “Yeah, it was you and Sam that came into the hotel room. You didn’t kill two?”
Dean looked up to his little brother. “Get her to the car. I’m gonna kill this son of a bitch for putting its hands on my girl.” Sam took my hands and helped me over the cracked stone.
“Dean please be careful and come back to me.” I told him as he walked further into the sewers and Sam led me out to the car.
“Can I clean your cuts?” Sam asked as he let me lean against the side of the Impala. I nodded weakly at him and allowed him to clean the blood from my wrists and wrap them in white bandages to keep them from getting infected. “We’ll have to change the bandages at least twice a day until the cuts close up.” I nodded yet again to his words and kept my eyes out for either Dean or the shifter. “You alright?” Sam joined my side finally and leaned back against the car.
“I’ve never been more scared in my life, not knowing if I could trust you or Dean. And then you said you only got one of those damn things. Dean’s alone searching for the shifter and I want to help him so bad, but I can’t, what if I kill the wrong Dean?”
“You can’t think like that. My brother loves you more than anything in the world. He was out of his mind searching for you when your phone call suddenly cut off.” Sam’s arm wrapped around my shoulders in a protective hug. “You’re safe and Dean will kill the shifter, we have nothing to worry about.” I took a deep breath. Sam was right, he was always right. I pulled the sleeves of the jacket down over my hands as I watched the dark space for any signs of movement. “Can I ask you something though?”
“Of course.” I stated, turning my head slightly to look at the youngest Winchester.
“What’s with the rings? Dean said his matches yours?” Sam questioned.
I sighed and held out my left hand to him, showing off the stunning silver ring decorated in diamonds. “It was my mothers. Remember when I took Dean out to meet her a few months ago?” Sam nodded quickly, still looking at the ring. “Well, before she died, she asked for a few moments with Dean alone and I guess that’s when she gave it to him. A few weeks ago, he asked me to marry him.” I smiled softly at the memory. “I cried and Dean was over the moon with happiness when I said yes. We know there will probably never be anything official in order to keep our names quiet, but I found the ring he now has last week and gave it to him.”
“Then why did you have it?”
“Dean wanted to tell you in his own way. He wanted to make sure you were ok with it before he did anything. I’ve been keeping it safe while he thought of a way to tell you.” Sam’s arms suddenly wrapped around my body in a tight hug.
“I couldn’t be happier for you two. You’ve been a sister to me for a long time.” He leaned back and gave me a bright smile. A snapping branch in the distance broke the happy moment between the two of us. “Stay here and keep your eyes open. I’m going to go get my gun.” Sam walked off to the trunk of the car and just as he was about to open it, Dean walked out from the wooded area, holding his hands up in the air.
My eyes scanned his body for any signs of injury and when I found none, I relaxed slightly into the car. “You kill it?” Sam asked, dumping the medical supplied back into their spot in the trunk.
Dean nodded sharply. “Yup. Damn thing tried to run.”
As I was watching him walk closer to us, I noticed another body walking out from the same area of the woods. “Sam?” I took the few steps closer to the youngest Winchester, my eyes flashing between both bodies. The two of us pulled our guns and raised them in the air, alerting both Deans to the weapons.
“Stop where you are.” Sam called. My hands shook as I stared between the two bodies that resembled the man I love.
“Dean?” My voice was shaky. My gun was trained on one and Sam had his on the other, both of us doing everything in our power to make sure we killed the right Dean.
“Sammy.” The Dean that Sam covered said. “Sammy, put the gun down.”
“Are you crazy? Kill him!” The Dean in front of me yelled.
“Shut up!” I shouted over the both of them as they began to argue. “Stop.” My eyes continued to search both bodies to find something to tell me they were real. Just as I was about to give up, I noticed the small band of silver wrapped around the left ring finger of the Dean in front of me. Doing a double check of the other body, and finding no ring, I shot off a round into the body Sam was watching.
“Wha-no!” Sam lunged forward.
I took a few deep breaths just as strong arms wrapped around me. “You’re safe.” Dean leaned his head on my shoulder and hugged me tightly. “I’m here.”
“Dean?” My voice was soft and scared as I clung to his body with the little energy I had left. “Thank god.”
“How did you know?” Sam asked, joining our sides.
I simply grabbed Dean’s left hand and held it up, showing Sam the simple band of silver. “Shifters can’t touch silver.”
Why Are You Doing This To Yourself?/ Dean Winchester x Reader
Warning: Vaping, Deppression, Self-harm, Kissing, Comfort, Deep Conversations
Story Prompt: Y/n has been hunting with Dean and Sam for a long time. She has had trouble dealing with some stuff that's on her mind and everything going on around her lately. Y/n finally finds her best solution and she has considered "Vaping calms her". Dean finds her and he has so many thoughts on this.
Tumblr media
Y/n's POV:
Lately hunting has been a struggle for me. Everything has just been going wrong and I feel like I'm messing things up. Im having a hard time believing I'm gonna be ok. That it's gonna just get better and I can move on.
Is it though?
Am I going to get through this?
Am I doing good by putting others first?
Life as a hunter is never easy at all. I always hear Sam and Dean say "This life isn't easy". It's true I mean this life puts the ones you love in danger.
This life makes you end up dead.
This life makes you a different person.
It changes your whole aspect of reality...
Ever since Charlie died I've had a hard time. So has Dean and Sam. Charlie was my bestfriend and she would always call and check up on me and the boys.
But now since she's gone I have no one else to be a nerd with. Me and her loved the same music, movies, etc. She was like a sister to me and I miss her.
I just wish she was here...
I get up from my bed in the bunker and I walk over to my desk. I open the left drawer and I pull out my vape. I never told Sam and Dean that I started because I didn't want them to worry.
The only time that I use it is when I'm overwhelmed and just need to calm down. It helps me and it let's me take a break from the stress.
I walk back over to my bed and I put some music on and start to take a hit. It was relaxing to know I can have a moment to myself.
Suddenly someone knocked on my door. "Y/n you awake?" Dean said.
"Yeah give me a sec" I said quickly. I take my vape and put it in my bra really quick. As I fix my shirt Dean opens the door. "Hey" I said smiling at Dean.
Dean looked around my room and then looked at me. "Hey... does it smell fruity in here?" Dean asked. I look around and played dumb. "Uh no not really I mean the only fruity thing in my room is my perfume" I said.
"Oh okay uhm well I came In here to ask you if you wanted to spend the night with me? In my room and uh we could watch a movie?" Dean said smiling.
Dean and me would do this every Friday night and I mean it is one of the best things me and him do. This would make me feel better I mean it's Dean. I love him a lot and well even if we don't stay in the same room that doesn't mean he isn't the best boyfriend ever.
I just don't want him to know I vape because I don't want him to worry. He already has enough stress on his plate and it ain't fair to him or Sam.
"Of course I'll spend the night with you De" I said. Dean smiled and got excited at my answer. "Alright uhm I'm gonna make the popcorn and set up the movie. You go to my room and make yourself comfy ok" Dean said.
I nodded my head and laughed at him. "Alrighty De I can do that" I said. Dean walked up to me and kissed my head. "I love you Y/n" Dean said.
I love how Dean gets like this because it's so sweet. He acts all tough but the truth is he's just my big teddy bear. "I love you to Dean" I said kissing his cheek.
Dean then walked away and went to make the popcorn. I sighed and got up to put my vape away in my desk. "Can't let him see me hurting" I thought.
I change my clothes and put on my black night pants and Dean's grey tshirt. I mean you can't have a good movie night without being In comfy baggy pj's.
I get into Dean's room and make myself comfortable on Dean's bed. I brought my pillow and my favorite blanket. I set it up on Dean's bed and I finally lay down and wait for Dean.
Pretty soon a couple of minutes later Dean comes back with a bag of candy, popcorn, and two beers. I chuckled at him seeing him struggle. I get up and walk over to Dean smiling at him.
"Let me help you De" I said grabbing the beers and popcorn. I walk over to the bed and sit down and set the snacks up. Dean puts down the bag of candy beside me and then walks over to close his bedroom door.
"I'm gonna change real quick so is it cool if you set up the movie?" Dean asked. I nodded my head and grabbed his laptop and pulled up the movie. He wanted to watch "Scream" and "Texas Chainsaw Massacre".
"Thought you only wanted to watch one movie?" I said. Dean turned around and as I looked up I was really liking his pj's. He had only grey sweatpants and a white tshirt.
"Yeah uh I was just thinking if you wanted to watch another movie we could have two? I mean it's just fun to do these movie nights and well just wish you could stay in this room with me all the time" Dean said.
I nodded my head and tapped the bed. "I mean we could make that happen" I said. Dean smiled and sat down on the bed beside me getting comfortable.
4 hours later me and Dean are still laying in bed watching movies. As I was sitting there I kept having the urge to go and have a quick "break". I look over at Dean and seen that he was asleep.
I get up quietly and cover him up with the blankets. "I'll be back" I whispered as I lean down to kiss him. My lips make contact with his forehead and I sighed as I pulled away.
I make my way out of Dean's bedroom and make my way down the hall to mine. My breath kept getting quicker and quicker as I made it closer to my room.
I didn't even realized that I arrived at my bedroom door and opened it. My feet were moving for me and my mind was fuzzy. The next thing I know I have my vape in my hands and I'm taking hits from it.
I didn't even hear the footsteps coming down the hallway to my room or the faint voice calling my name. I was just focused on inhaling the vape.
"Y/n..." Dean said. I finally came back to reality after calming down and realized I've been caught. I turn and look at Dean and he was pissed. "Oh shit..." I mumbled.
The expression on Dean's face explained everything that he was feeling. He seemed Angry, confused, sad, upset. "Why the hell are you vaping?" Dean said walking towards me. I froze in place not being able to move away. I was angry at myself that I could be so stupid to give up quickly to hit that stupid damn vape.
"Dean let me explain" I mumbled. Dean kept walking toward me and grabbed my vape from my hands. "I can't believe that your doing this to yourself" Dean said with venom at the end of his sentence.
"Dean just let me explain" I said. Dean looked at me with anger in his eyes. "Y/n why? Why do this" Dean said with less venom. I started to tear up and Dean noticed. "No... no you don't get to do that not after this" Dean said holding up the vape. I look down at the floor finding it more interesting to look at then Dean at the moment.
All I hear is Dean's footsteps leave the room and I start tearing up again. I look up and seen he was gone and I felt my heart breaking as I fall to my knees on the floor. I wanted to shout and scream but I couldn't. All I could do is sit there and cry on silence with no one to hear me.
Dean was hurt by me doing this to myself and he has every right to be. But at the same time he doesn't understand how I feel about anything. How I have to just live with this pain and not show it. And because the fact I never show it I always feel alone.
But I need Dean to be here for me but he won't. I understand why he won't be but still. He stormed out instead of talking it out with me. Do I need to be alone? Do I need to suffer alone? Who knows...
➖️➖️➖️➖️➖️➖️➖️➖️➖️➖️➖️➖️➖️➖️➖️➖️➖️
The next day was more stressful and awkward as last night. It was different and I felt more alone than I was before. I woke up in my room and I felt a tug in my heart. I didn't want to get out of bed but I knew I needed to face the day.
I open the door slowly and I take a quick breath. "Hopefully no one's awake yet" I thought. I walk out of my room and I make my way to the kitchen to see Sam on his laptop. I quickly walk over to the coffee maker and make myself a glass of coffee. "Good morning" Sam said.
I sighed and turn to look at Sam. "Mornin" I said. Sam looked at me and raised his eyebrows in question. "Are you okay?" Sam asked. I sighed and took a sip of my coffee but I choked at the bitter taste. "Yeah... uhm I really don't know how to answer that" I said.
"Wanna talk about it?" Sam said closing his laptop. I looked at Sam and was about to respond until Dean entered the kitchen. I look away and put my coffee mug down. "I'll see you later Sam" I said leaving the room.
As I walked away I heard Dean scoff and I then decided to hide beside the door to the kitchen. "What was that about" Sam said. I heard Dean sigh and then he began to speak.
"Y/n was vaping"
"Wait what? Why would she do that"
"I don't know Sam"
"Did you talk to her about it"
"No, I stormed off last night and haven't talked to her since then"
"Dean you need to talk to her"
"Why Sam? There is nothing to say, I just can't believe she would do something like that to herself"
"Well Dean talking is better than leaving her to fight with whatever is going on alone"
I finally had enough listening and I made my way back to my room. I just didn't want to be around Dean because he clearly has nothing to say to me.
As I enter my room a whole new wave of depression hit me. I couldn't take this pain anymore and I just didn't want to see Dean right now. I shut my door and I rush to my bed seeming as that was the only thing to do.
"Why Charlie" I thought. As I sink down more into my bed the thoughts kept spilling like it was a waterfall in my head. What after felt like moments I heard a faint knock at my door. I didn't respond. The only thing I could do was listen.
After a moment the knock came back but it was more louder. Then finally the door knob turned and the door was opening. "Y/n?" Someone said. I didn't move my head to see who it was but the type of voice and the way the person acted from what I could hear was Sam.
"Y/n please can we talk" Sam said. I didn't move and Sam sighed. I thought he was going to leave but I was wrong. "Y/n Dean told me what happened and I was wondering if you could talk to me" Sam said gently. The next thing I know Sam is sitting on my bed and rubbing my shoulder softly.
I finally gave in and I latched myself to Sam and I was crying. I wanted to tell him what was going on but all I could do was cry. I couldn't stop crying because of all of my thoughts playing over and over in my head. I felt like I was crazy and I didn't know what to do.
"Hey, hey Its gonna be okay... it's okay Y/n" Sam said rubbing my head softly. I sobbed and I looked up at Sam. "I- I'm sorry" I said softly. Sam rubbed my head and comforted me. "It's okay you don't need to apologize. Just tell me what's going on and we will find a way to make everything okay" Sam answered.
I nodded my head and I started sobbing again. Sam comforted me until I calmed down to where I was ready to talk. I pulled away from Sam and I straightened myself to sit up.
"Its- there's just been so- so much going on" I mumbled. Sam looked at me concerned and rubbed my back softly. "After Charlie- after everything its just- I'm losing it Sammy" I said looking up at Sam. Sam gave me his usual empathetic look and nodded his head.
"Y/n I understand how you feel... and your not gonna lose it okay"
"But how do you know im not"
"Because you have me, Dean and Castiel"
"Are you sure about Dean? Because clearly from last night it explains he is mad at me"
"Dean's not mad at you Y/n he's worried and wants you to be okay"
"I understand he is worried I just don't want him to be... I just really need him right now and I don't want him being distant"
"Just give him a bit to calm down Y/n... he loves you"
"Okay... thank you Sammy"
"You're welcome Y/n"
Sam pulled me into a hug and I wrapped my arms around him. "It's gonna be okay" Sam whispered. I nodded my head and I pulled away. I laughed a little wiping my tears away and I smiled at Sam.
"Yeah... yeah it's gonna be okay" I replied. Sam smiled and got up from the bed. "I'll let Dean know your okay" Sam said leaving the room. I nodded my head and smiled while wiping my tears.
After a couple of moments Dean appeared in the doorway. "Hey" I whispered. Dean walked towards me and I stayed still. "Look I'm sorry-" I said but was interrupted by Dean kissing me. I pulled away a few minutes later and Dean held my cheek.
"Y/n you don't have to apologize okay" Dean answered. I started to tear up again and I gently smiled. "I love you... and I'm sorry for walking off last night" Dean whispered. I kissed his cheek and I nodded my head. "I understand why you did it though... and you don't need to apologize either" I said.
Dean sat down and pulled me in for a hug. I sighed and wrapped my arms around Dean as he kissed my head.
"We're gonna get through this"
"Yeah... we are... one day at a time"
"I love you Y/n"
"I love you too Dean"
