So just a little thing. I’ve been aware of how problematic YHS and Sam was for a while. The news of J*n b*p and his absolute fuckery came around and immediately I remembered the colab episode plot thing and just hoped that Sam deleted it, far as I know: nope. 

It absolutely doesn’t surprise me the more I hear about the fuckery, that discord server shit that Sam did? Not at all. The probably misfair treatment and paying. Nope. 

It will remain in my heart forever as a kinda obscure and problematic comfort series. Yes, it has its problems. ... That’s it. I’m aware of it, and still hold it a bit in my heart. It was something to watch when I came home from school and even though it desensitized me from certain things, I still remember things about it and smile at it. There are more than “some” moments of weirdness, that should not fly but ... yup old school yt and internet was like that. 

I think I saw someone people comparing it to homestuck a bit and the affect and I just want to say that is both hilarious and terrifying. Like, thank fuck cosplaying as a Minecraft rp characters wasn’t like... really a thing cause that sounds like bad fan etiquette waiting to happen. Or maybe it did and I just haven’t seen any comment on it. 

Anyway, will find a way to not give him money but also watch it because sometimes things are like that.

I'm super late to the party, but you make a reference at one point about Grian being trans-coded. Can you clarify on that one? I don't remember anything like that, but I don't know whether I've forgotten, if I missed it, or if it just went straight over my head.

in YHS, Grian had a few aspects about him that led people to headcanon him as trans.

He never took off his shirt, wearing a shirts to go swimming for example.

Sam, who knew him since childhood, on multiple occasions forced him to dress as female characters or in feminine clothing to do group costumes.

in the prequel, Yandere, Grian canonically would wear makeup. And considering his family completely disowned him and were said to be snobby rich people- i doubt they’d let their cis son do makeup.

Whenever he wasn’t actively trying to dress as a man, such as when Sam would force him to be feminine, people legitimately confused him for a girl

and yeah! just things like that.

one just about in the middle ground, gave some of the fucking angstiest (and most batshit) lore possible for someone like c!Grian

c!Grian CANONICALLY is a queer british boy who was fucking abandoned at age six in JAPAN, which set him two-three years back in his schooling .

when he was uh hh 16-17 he was convinced to come back to Japan to visit his "friends" (one of which his abuser, the other his soon-to-be canonical boyfriend) where they convince him to be a shitbag and he has a miserable time at a beach. also hes transcoded so theres that

he comes back for halloween and it during that time that his soon-to-be-boyfriend, Taurtis, is stabbed by their abuser !

Grian brings Taurtis to the hospital and has to return to Sam, their abuser, without him .

with Taurtis in the hospital Sam forces Grian to act as Taurtis. He has to wear his clothes, it the same food, go by the name, and everyone who tries to talk to Grian and not refer to him as Taurtis is threatened .

he is held at knifepoint during this time and only eats plastic bags .

somewhere along the way this season he:

dates Ellen, the non-binary fortune teller has a knife fight with someone else in-love with Ellen

Almost got hung by the ghost of a man who . yeah . h . hung in the school

got forced into dresses and other feminine outfits by Sam

Got in a car crash (with Taurtis I think)

Got in two-three shoot outs with the yakuza

Imprisoned for a hot second

and forced to pretend to be ANOTHER dead guy, who i think he actually killed but that one wasn't his fault. the OTHER two people he killed the next season is . well . morally grey

I DIDNT EVEN GET TO SEASON TWO . in which outside of also getting with Taurtis finally, Grian, Taurtis, Sam, aND FUCKING DOUGHBOY . who i refuse to ever acknowledge because GOD that season was SHIT .

They all became unkillable, unaging, teenagers trapped on the only remains of their universe, which was their house ! gifted to them by Cthulhu, after the three destroyed the entire universe on accident.

technically it was only Grian and Sam who destroyed the universe since it's not Taurtis' fault since he was kinda dead but . thats . yeah .
