As a recovering Catholic, one of my fav anecdotes the spn set is Misha mentioning that they had all these papers flutter around when Cas flies in angry sometimes and he once looked at WHAT the papers were and they were bible pages. And he pictured all the set dressers just ripping up bibles and thought it was funny and mentioned it in an interview (or at a meet and great with some network people? it was years ago lol) and the show higher ups were like 🙅🙅🙅🙅😬😬😬 maybe we don’t mention that?? But he still tell that story at cons
Anyway, for me that’s how I’ve interacted with the religious themes in spn, as ripped up bible pages for set dressing (that they did knowing that they might get in trouble for it is anyone was paying attention) lol idk if that helps but it does for me haha so I hear you on the “complicated feelings on religion while watching spn” front
now imagining misha collins himself feeding bible pages into the company shredder to make Castiel Confetti

My unpopular opinion is that I think Sam should have supported Dean when Cas was being bitchy and Dean was being bitchy back instead of giving Dean vague disapproving looks where is the brotherly loyalty and protectiveness huh

going to run a ship bracket but the options will be. For example. 1. Destiel (because i genuinely like it) 2. Destiel (because i want ineffable husbands to lose? 3 ineffable husbands (because i genuinely like it) 4. ineffable husbands (because i want destiel to lose) And all the people voting from spite with anti-destiel cringe in their hearts will not have their votes counted !

Stanford era Dean and S15 Dean wouldn't fight over Cas...
It's because both the dumbasses would be too busy being jealous of the other.

i’m sure this has been mentioned but we need to take a second to appreciate the character growth dean has from season 1 to 4. he used to be the attacker, the shoot first ask questions later, don’t question orders and follow dads lead kind of guy. he was raised that way, raised a soldier. but his interactions with early, god’s soldier cas really shows that he grew out of that mindset. its almost like a mirror of who dean used to be before he realized that john actually wasn’t a perfect man and fucked up a lot. him saying that you always have a choice??? think he learned that the hard way when he disobeyed his dad by saving sam and selling his soul. i think dean regaining control over his own free will because of his dedication to protecting sam, and it being made really fucking clear through cas, is going to be the end of me

In my spn sequel Sam's wife is dead and he latchkey'd his 2 children (older boy + younger girl) for 2 decades, but wasn't MIA. After he's disappeared into hell for real, (They dont know where he went), they figure out what hunting is, drop out of college, and go on a journey hunting/looking for him. It turns out Sam has been doing satanic magic and has been fucking rowena of the reg for 2 decades in order to avenge his mauled by hell hounds wife. He messed up and now he's accidentally dead, oops, and after his kids find him/he helps his kids find him, he's thinking 'in order to help my kids, I'm reviving myself 😅'. Satanic magic+slowly turning into a demon explains why he's young looking lol. Castiel is a side character as he feels obligated to take care of Sam's children (ish), having a soft spot for the Dean Daughter of Sam's. Sam and castiel have a bad relationship bc Sam is pissed he can't visit or talk to any of his dead exes or Dean, bc he's bound for hell/is basically a demon, and they're all up in heaven. Castiel is trying really hard to maintain the ethics he doesn't have. Sam's Dean daughter is less depressed, more slutty, reckless, and confident than Dean, the Sam Son is more socially inept, nerdy, anxious, funny and more self aware than Sam. Imo this is solid 🖕

the thing is i think it’s so utterly stupid bonkers to get mad about things various supernatural characters have done bc well. characters! and a lot of the time yeah they do have reasons and they do the best they can with what they’ve got. like i’m not mad dean kicked cas out of the bunker i get that. but at the same time it is ALSO utterly stupid bonkers to act like the three of them don’t all have viable reasons to want each other dead and like they’re not all correct for thinking that

if people are tired of destiel they should try getting into something nobody has thought about for a decade and only caring about a character who was in a third of it. it's like eating a vegan burger that tastes surprisingly realistic.

like ppl keep ascribing human morality/rationality to cas when girl. that is an ancient weapon that happens to be sentient. he borrowed his understanding of human morality from wifebeater joe and his sexy withdrawn sister like 3 days ago

Saw a post on here about someone talking about a post on here that the entire spn finale was actually fake because the crew popped up at the end, and that the fourth-wall-break to thank the fans was actually in-universe J2 (the actors) and not Sam and Dean (the main characters). I have no fucking clue how to compress everything I just wrote but I want y'all to know that that is the hill I am dying on. THAT is my truth.

Anyway just hallucinated a whole supernatural episode where Sam dies and Dean tries to get anyone to help or to swap places with Sam but no one’s there and then he talks with death and for a while after Dean still tries to get Sam back but as the years go on and it doesn’t happen and he hunts but the hunts keep getting more dangerous and dangerous because what does he care anymore but slowly he starts to build connections with people outside of hunting but they eventually see how he’s self harming by putting himself in constant danger and they start to take care of him and he eventually understands that he deserves to have people look after him and he needs to look after himself too and start living for not just the ones he loves but himself as well and as the years go on he accepts that he did all he could for Sam and that he dedicated his whole life to Sam since he was very young, gave him the best life their circumstances allowed but what Sam really wanted was for his brother to just be ok and now he’s fulfilling Sam’s wish of living for himself and as he gets older he tells people about Sam and how he cared for him and he’s open with how Sam died but he doesn’t beat himself up for it anymore because he knew he did everything in his power to help Sam but he’s not superhuman so he couldn’t do it all and on Dean’s deathbed as an old man he can die happy knowing that he was final able to love himself and Sam and equal amount and he knows every death he saw he did his best to prevent and that it’s not his fault and he is ok and he is at full peace with himself. Anyway that’s how I think the last episode should have gone
