Easter Traditions (A FM!Sam Short)
Tumblr media
a/n~ I’ve missed my babies something fierce! Here’s a little glimpse into their Easter festivities!
“Have you ever made someone an Easter basket?” Sam asked, laying upside down on Danny’s bed with his head hanging off the edge.
Danny quirked a brow, finishing the scribbling of words on the page in front of him before turning his attention to Sam; a questioning look kissing his facial features. Danny thought for a moment, back to the year that his sister turned fourteen and their mother broke her heart by declaring she was officially too old for an Easter basket.
“Yeah, once or twice when my sister was younger and mom thought she was too old for a little bit of Easter joy. Why, what’s up?”
Sam rolled over and righted himself, pushing up off of the floor with his long arms and caught himself on the edge of the bed to push up into a seated position. A soft smile spread across his face as he thought of the conversation he had with Sophia earlier that day.
Sam’s eyes held a light of childlike wonder as he spoke about the conversation he had with Sophia, recounting just how her mom would make her an Easter basket every year, the contents of it changing with her age and how it always contained the same colored peeps - even though she didn’t like peeps and knew they were her moms favorite. Danny nodded along as he listened to Sam drone on about the things she’d put in the basket for her and how her mom would sift through bags of jelly belly’s for her favorite flavors.
“I’ve noticed she eyes that Peter Cottontail hollow bunny our moms used to get us when we were little. I wonder if that’s the same one her mom got her.” Danny nodded and thought for a second before pushing his office chair out from under his desk and rose to his feet. Crossing the room he snatched his keys off of the dresser and stuffed his feet into his tennis shoes before nodding towards the door.
“Well? Are you coming with me or am I in charge of making her basket?” Excitement filled Sam’s features as he scrambled off of the bed and followed Danny out of the room.
~*~*~
Sam perused the aisles of the local Walgreens, having high hopes to find everything he would need in one place. His eyes landed on a hairbrush she had been gushing over wanting to try and he plucked it off of the hook before turning to Danny.
“Do you think a brush is a weird thing to put in here?” Sam asked, holding up the basket he had chosen from the selection the store had to offer. Danny shook his head, plucking a pack of the hair ties he knew she used and they always stole from her off of the hook he was standing in front of.
“Not really, it’s something she’ll get use out of and let’s face it, you’ve all but stolen her paddle brush.” Danny chuckled, tossing the pack of hair ties into the basket.
“What about this?” Danny asked, holding up a pastel pink flower shaped claw clip. A soft smile spread across Sam’s lips as he took the clip out of Danny’s hand and slowly tucked it into the basket.
“That’s perfect! I may have sat on her last one and destroyed it last night. She never learns to not leave them lying around.” He chuckled.
Sam made quick work of collecting some of her favorite things and tossed them into the basket to make sure it would all fit snugly and securely. Turning his head he made eye contact with Danny before nodding towards the front of the store and making a beeline to the registers to pay for everything he had found.
Later that night, he snuck out of bed, leaving Sophia curled up around his pillow and made his way to the hall closet where he had stashed his purchases. He made quick work of piecing together her Easter basket with all of the goodies he had found and placed it on the kitchen table. Scooping the shopping bag up off of the counter he slowly made his way into the living room and perched himself on the couch, the next task at hand to sort her favorite jelly beans out from the rest.
“Sam… what are you doing?” The sound of Danny’s voice cause Sam to jump and scatter the jelly beans he had cupped in his hand across the living room floor. He shot a glare over his shoulder, huffing a tried and frustrated sigh through his nose before lifting the bag and emptying more into the palm of his hand.
“I’m taking out all the popcorn and bubblegum flavored jelly beans and putting them into one of your honey jars. It’s something her mom used to do and I know it’s special to her.” Sam grumbled, tossing a few jelly beans into the jar before dumping the rest of the handful into a separate jar. Danny nodded his head and slowly made his way into the living room, placing a small basket packed tightly with skin care products down on the table.
“I couldn’t help myself. So I snuck a few things she’s been eyeing during shopping trips over the last few weeks. She was none the wiser.” Sam smiled at Danny and reached up to clap a hand on his shoulder.
“You spoiled her too? She’s not even expecting one basket and she’s getting two? Her reaction is going to be priceless. Now get the hell outta here, stop distracting me.” Sam chuckled, shooing Danny off in the direction of the kitchen.
~*~*~
Sophia awoke the next morning pinned under the weight of Sam’s body. Turning her head to the side, she pressed soft kisses to the tip of his nose and the curve of his mustache hoping to wake him gently. He stirred slightly, throwing his leg over hers and nuzzled his face into the crook of her neck.
“Just five more minutes and we’ll go make pancakes.” He mumbled, wrapping his arm around her midsection and pulled her closer to him. She reveled in the feeling of his body against hers and let her eyes flutter shut as his breathing began to even out once more.
“It’s Easter, baby. Don’t you wanna get up and enjoy the day? We wouldn’t want to sleep half of it away - we have to cook dinner for your brothers!” She giggled, wiggling her way out of his grasp and pushed herself out of the bed.
“And besides - the Easter bunny left you boys a treat! Don’t you wanna see what he left you?” She giggled, pure excitement coursing through her body as she pulled the two small baskets out of her closet. Sam pushed himself into a seated position and stretched his arms high above his head, making sure to keep his eyes closed as she placed the basket on the bed in front of him.
“I think he did pretty good if I do say so myself.” She giggled, perching herself on the edge of the bed. Sam peeked an eye open and smiled at her all while reaching out and pulling the basket closer to him.
“Now what did this Bunny think I’d like, hmm?” Sam joked as he began to sift through the basket.
He couldn’t help the smile that spread across his face as he picked up a small container of guitar picks and placed them to the side. Amongst the items were his favorite body wash, a cologne he had been talking about wanting to try, a gift certificate to their favorite sushi restaurant and a new toothbrush.
“The Easter bunny really decided to replace the toothbrush you dropped in the toilet?!” He joked, placing it to the side in favor of the plastic eggs filled with loose candy he began to munch on.
“I think he decided you needed one with all the Skittles you’re about to eat.” She giggled, reaching over to steal an orange one out of the egg he was holding.
“Thank you baby, that was sweet.” He cooed. Sophia couldn’t help the smile that spread across her face but kept her eyes downcast - not wanting the disappointment she knew played in them to be seen.
“Dan the man can get his when he wakes up. I don’t know about you but I am not waking the beast this early on a Sunday morning.” She giggled, pushing herself to stand and scooped the other basket off of the bed as she made her way out of the bedroom.
Sam was hot on her heels and quickly pushed past her, placing both hands on the hallway walls. Sophia’s bottom lip pushed out in a pout and she crossed her arms over her chest. Sam smiled sleepily at her and leaned down to press a soft kiss to her lips, a distraction while Danny snuck past them and placed her baskets on the kitchen table.
“What was that for?” She giggled and pulled a deep breath in through her nose. Sam turned and looked over his shoulder briefly, exchanging a quick nod with Danny before wrapping his arms gently around Sophia and turned them both around.
“Daniel was indecent, I don’t think you want to see that, sorry.” He chuckled, leaning down to press a soft kiss to her forehead as he walked her backwards into the kitchen. She couldn’t help the boisterous laugh that slipped past her lips at the thought of Danny streaking across the kitchen.
“How are you going to be indecent in my kitchen, Danny boy?” She called, her voice muffled by the way she was wrapped up in Sam’s arms. The smell of chocolate chip pancakes invaded her senses as they entered the kitchen. Sam’s gaze found Danny’s and they exchanged a silent conversation all while Sophia remained tucked into Sam’s chest.
“The Easter bunny forgot where your room was, Danny. He left your stuff with us.” She giggled, tipping her head back just enough to breathe in the air around her and held the basket out in his direction.
“How dare he not know where to find me! Can you just put it on the table for now, please? I’ll check it out as soon as breakfast is done.” Danny called.
Sam unraveled himself from Sophia and took a step back, crossing his arms over his chest as she spun on her heel and her eyes landed on the kitchen table. She reached up and placed Danny’s basket next to the two that were already sitting there and cocked her head to the side.
“I think the Easter bunny only knew the vicinity you were in.” Sam said. Stepping forward he wrapped his arms around her midsection and nuzzled his face into the crook of her neck. Sophia took a couple of deep, steadying breaths and leaned back against Sam, reaching up to rest her hands on his arms.
“Baby I…guys you… you didn’t have to.” Her voice cracked as tears welled in her eyes. The memory of the conversation she had with Sam earlier that month coming to the forefront of her mind.
“But we wanted to.” Danny chuckled, swooping past her, he ruffled her messy hair as he placed a plate of pancakes in the middle of the table. Pulling a deep breath in through her nose, she huffed it out and turned her head in Danny’s direction, shooting him a look with furrowed brows.
“Don’t give me that look. This was all Sam’s idea.” Danny chuckled, turning his attention to the basket Sophia had presented for him.
She stepped forward and pulled the bigger of the two baskets in front of her, carefully pulling the card that was tucked safely in the front of it out. Sam reached forward and placed a hand over hers, guiding her to place the card on the table.
“That’ll still be there later.” He chuckled, waiting impatiently for her to sift through the goodies in the basket.
She couldn’t help the giggle that slipped past her lips as she pulled the small plush chick out and hugged it to her chest - one of the many Easter traditions her mother carried on right up until the end. A hair brush, hair ties, claw clips and her favorite cheap perfume all sat to one side of the basket. It was then that her eyes traveled to the other side and she spotted the jar of popcorn and bubblegum flavored jelly beans, clearly hand picked going by the big mason jar of other flavors sitting on the counter.
“You picked them out like she used to…” her voice was soft as memories flooded her mind of Easter’s past and just how excited her mom would be to watch her pick apart the baskets she so lovingly put together.
Sam placed soft kisses to her cheek and gave her a reassuring squeeze as she dug to the bottom of the basket. Plucking the last item up her arm froze and she could no longer fight the tears that sprung to her eyes. In her hand was a three pack of blue bunny peeps - her moms favorite ones.
“How did you?” Her voice cracked as tears began to slip down her cheeks. Sam pulled back and spun her in his grasp, wrapping his arms around her shoulders in a tight bear hug.
“I know you won’t eat them, but I know how much this meant to the both of you. I couldn’t put together a basket and not include a hug especially from her.” He mumbled, keeping his voice low so the moment remained between the two of them.
“She’d sneak them in every year, at the bottom of the basket knowing I’d make a face and give them to her. It was our thing.” She sniffled hard trying to compose herself before turning back to the task at hand. Sam placed a kiss to the crown of her head and smoothed his hand up and down her back, essentially calming her down.
“You told me all about it a few weeks ago, don’t you remember? When you told me that numb nuts told you Easter baskets were childish? I might have my stupid moments but I listen to every word you say. I love you.” Sam chuckled, pulling back to cup her cheeks in his hand and wiped away the tears streaming down her cheeks with his thumbs.
“Happy Easter.” Sam kept his voice light and leaned forward to capture her lips with his in a soft and sweet kiss. Sophia pulled a deep breath in through her nose and held it to the count of ten before releasing it and turning back to the table.
“Daniel - you too?! How did I ever get so lucky to find both of you?” She giggled, slowly sifting through the small basket Danny had stuffed full of the skin care she had been gushing about to him over the last few weeks.
“That’s what happens when you fall in love with a package deal, you get him and me no questions asked.” Danny chuckled, ruffling her hair once more as he made his way out of the kitchen.
Sam watched as Sophia picked up the mason jar full of jelly beans and twisted it in her hands, a soft smile playing across her face as she opened the jar and picked a few popcorn flavored ones out. Cupping they in her hand she quickly popped them into her mouth before turning and offering Sam the jar.
“You gotta eat four bubblegum ones now - it’s tradition.” Tears welled in her eyes as her voice cracked once more, many more memories flooding her mind. Sam did as he was told, picking four pink jelly beans out of the jar and popped them into his mouth.
“Thank you… you guys didn’t have to do all this.” She mumbled, screwing the lid back onto the jar and tucked it safely back into the basket. A soft smile spread across Sam’s cheeks as he took a step forward and wrapped her in his arms, holding her close to his chest.
“There was no obligation in what we did. We do these things because we want to… okay? I love you, Daniel loves you, Sabrina loves you. Everyone loves you. I know holidays aren’t the easiest, but I want to make them as easy and fun as possible.”
Sophia took another deep breath and steadied herself as she wrapped her arms around his waist, holding him tightly to her. She nuzzled her face into the soft fabric of his t-shirt and began to sway their bodies gently. Sam breathed a sigh of relief knowing that she was okay with the little thing he does for her, not wanting to overstep a boundary. He pressed soft kisses against the crown of her head as she relaxed in his grip.
“Happy Easter, baby.” She mumbled, causing a smile to tug at the corners of his lips and he hugged her a bit tighter, letting her know she was safe with him.

O, Pioneers
Chapter One
“We, a curious trio, picking, wandering on our way.” - Walt Whitman
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sam Kiszka x F!OC
What started out as a series of emails snowballed into Sam Kiszka having the one person in his field he could not stand to staying in his house for a few days. It’s only for a few days. Can he survive having her around him 24/7 or will Natasha Delaney end up being the one to foil all of his plans?
Authors Note: Hey y’all!! Sorry for leaving you hanging so long with this story I wanted to get the other three stories established before I got back to this just for consistency sake. But I do hope you like Sam’s story. I have so much planned for it ❤️ if you need to catch up on the Prologue you can read it here!
Disclaimer: *Set in the months prior to ISHIYE, so in the same universe but can be read independently. It’ll crossover the most with Running Through the Garden and there will be references to the other fics but not to the point of confusion. Enjoy!
Word Count: 2,793
Warnings: Some swearing but that’s it for now.
Tumblr media
The Kiszka Estate as it was often referred to was truly a sight to behold. The grounds weren’t massive, but the Manor itself was a four-story English Tudor that danced the line of being over the top while reeking of Olde Money. The family had been living on this property for generations, and depending on what you thought of them it was either referred to as the Manor or the Compound.
Natasha stood in the circular driveway, her luggage sitting idly beside her as the Uber drove off, leaving her alone outside. She could tell whoever designed the house intended it to be visually intimidating, but it wasnt working on her.
Of course the mother fucker couldn’t actually pick me up from the airport, she growsed in her head. He did however, set up her Uber for her, so she didn’t have to pay for it, but it was the principle of it all. She squared her shoulders and picked up her bags, listening to the gravel crunch under her shoes as she approached the front door.
As she ascended the steps to the Manor, the massive front door swung open to reveal Sam Kiszka. Natasha stopped in her tracks as she took him in. The Sam before her was significantly different than the last time she saw him on graduation day. His hair was still long, but looked like a professional had finally started cutting it, his forehead was frustratingly blemish free, and those Sanpaku eyes stared right through her as they always did. But the biggest difference was the surprising amount of facial hair on him. He couldn’t grow a thing on his face back in college, and any attempts were so patchy and thin that it was never worth it to even try. But now? Now there was a thick mustache sitting on his top lip, accompanied by an equally thick tuft of hair sprouting from his chin. The way his chin hair was creeping up his jawline, it was clear he was letting it do its own thing and not actively trimming it to stay in one spot. He wasn’t as willowy as he was either, having finally started to fill out. He looked so different yet so…Sam at the same time. He looked goo-
“I thought you said your flight was coming in at two, Nat?”
Mood ruined. That smart ass tone was still ever present in his voice.
“It did,” she replied flatly.
“It's nearly 4:30 PM.”
“I’m glad you can tell time, Kiszka,” she rolled her eyes and continued towards the doorway. He scoffed under his breath as she walked past him and into the house.
“I’m just saying that keeping someone waiting like this is rude,” he remarked as he shut the door behind them.
“Well it’s not my fault that it takes well over an hour to get from the airport to these…hallowed grounds,” Natasha gave him an irritated look over her shoulder, the sarcasm dripping from her voice.
Sam rolled his eyes back at her, and the conversation he had had with his best friend Daniel a few days prior ran through his mind.
“Just wanted to let you know that I’m going to be having a guest at the house this weekend, she’ll be flying in around 2:00 PM,” Sam threw out before taking a bite out of his bagel.
Danny stared at him from across the little table they were sitting at. Every few days they’d have breakfast together before going their separate ways for the day, and on this particular Wednesday morning, Danny was taken aback by what Sam had just said.
He leaned forward towards Sam and rested his elbows on the table, “you’re having a guest…at your house?”
“Mmmhmm,” Sam replied, still chewing.
“...and this guest is a girl?” Danny tried to not smile but his eyes twinkled anyway, “is there someone I don’t know about?”
Sam finally swallowed and looked up at him, realizing how he made this sound, “Oh don’t get that look on your face this is strictly for professional reasons. She won’t be here for very long.”
“Professional reasons,” the skepticism clouded Danny’s voice.
“Yes. You know her anyway,” he added before drinking more of his coffee.
Now Danny was even more curious, “I do?”
“Yeah. It's Nat Delaney.”
The Wolf blinked several times at Sam before answering, “Delaney is staying…at your house?”
“Yeah it’s just for some of her own research. There’s an artifact she needs to get her hands on and I refused to risk it through the shitty mail system so she came to me instead,” at this Sam had finished his meal and sat back in his own seat.
Natasha was a frequent subject between the two of them in college. She was the only student at that university to get better grades than Sam, which pissed him off to no end. Danny had no issue with her, as she was always nice to him and her exceptional grades didn’t matter to him. Even though his best friend bitched about it constantly, they were both still the top of their class. He also thought that a little competition for Sam was good for him. It wouldn’t keep him humble by any means, but it would keep him on his toes.
“How did this happen?”
“We exchanged some professional emails and she explained her dire situation and I, just happened to be the solution to her problem,” Sam didn’t even try to hide the smug look on his face.
The two friends stared at each other for a few minutes, but with entirely different trains of thought.
“So is she just going to stay in one of the guest-”
“I’ve already got the corner room cleaned up for the most part, just have to get some of Jake’s shit out of it.”
Danny had been wandering the halls of Sam’s house since he was 14 years old, and he knew exactly what room Sam was referring to. The ‘corner room’ was what they called one of the many rooms that was intended to be for guests, but over the years each of the kids started using it as a storage room given its proximity to their bedrooms. The proper guest rooms were on the first floor, just off the kitchen. The corner room was also a literal description, as it was at the end of the hall on the second floor. The corner room was also directly across from Sam’s.
“Why that room?” Danny asked, his eyes twinkling again in curiosity.
“It was the closest room I’d need to clean out and the rooms downstairs and who wants to stay in the rooms downstairs that my parents' weird friends use?”
“Ok,” Danny said, elongating the letters and not believing a word that came out of Sam’s mouth but playing along anyway. “Are you going to put a chocolate on her pillow?”
Sam gave him a look, “totally and I have so much of it around the house since you can’t eat it.”
Danny frowned in offense, “I can eat chocolate, Sam and you know it.” It was a common stereotype that since Wolves were in fact, Wolves, that they couldn’t have chocolate like regular canines couldn’t. It also had been at the center of an incident where Sam’s mom had brownies left out on the counter and Danny dove in and shoved a corner piece into his mouth, and Sam panicked that he was going to get sick from it. But no, the young Wolf was fine. After that it became a running joke between the two friends.
“Anyway, she should only be here for a few days max and then she’ll be off to whatever it is she’s been doing,”
“I’m definitely swinging by. I’m not going to miss the two of you kill each other.”
“I can assure you, Daniel, that she won’t be there long enough for that to happen.”
“Sure. I believe that. You couldn’t even go five minutes in Professor Reid’s class without snapping and correcting each other. Or all the times you started arguing in the library and nearly got kicked out for being loud. Or when you’d fight over that one bench under the will-“
Danny. It’ll be fine.”
Sam was snapped out of his memory by Natasha’s voice. She had walked into the main corridor of the house, right next to the grand wooden stairs and the archway into the formal living room.
“So where in this palace am I going to be staying? How many bedrooms is there? Eleven? An even dozen?”
“Seven. And your room is upstairs.”
She looked up the stairs to her left, noting the carpet that ran down the middle of the steps, the solid wood rail and banisters. The whole manor was the definition of ‘they don’t make them like this anymore.’ The family clearly spared no expense preserving the integrity of the architecture over the decades.
“Lead the way, Kiszka.”
She stepped back to let Sam get in front of her and before she could reach for her bags, long slender fingers curled around the handles. Sam didn’t say a word and began up the stairs, taking her heaviest bag with him. She stared at him momentarily, surprised by the gesture, but quickly recovered with the rationale that it was the least he could do at this point.
At the top of the stairs Sam took a right down the open hallway that led down a corridor that split off in two opposite directions. He took a right and Natasha counted three doors on either side of the hall before Sam stopped at a final fourth door on the right. There was a door at the very end of the hallway, right between the final two doors on either side.
Sam used his free hand to twist the doorknob, revealing the room behind it.
The first thing Natasha  noticed were two nearly floor to ceiling windows on the wall that was opposite the doorway, flanking a large four poster bed. She followed Sam into the room and spotted another door on the far wall on the right, which she guessed was for a closet. There were antique-looking amber lamps on both nightstands, and as she turned to view the wall next to the door, she saw one of the most beautiful rolltop  desks she had ever seen, pushed up into the corner with a few bookshelves on the right of the desk leading back to the doorframe.
It was another antique, and the craftsmanship and details in the wood was so intricate that it had to have been done by hand. She wanted to run over and push the lid back to reveal the actual writing surface and the little drawers for writing supplies.
Sam's voice cut through your thoughts, “it’s not much but it’ll work while you’re here.”
Natasha turned around and gawked at him, it nearly irritated her how privileged he sounded, “Sam this is a beautiful room.”
He blinked at her, not used to hearing her verbalize positive sentiments. After a few moments of eye contact he looked around the room and asked, “so, where do you want me to put your stuff?”
She pointed to the foot of the bed, where a small bench sat just in front of the frame, “there is fine.”
As he situated the bags, she turned to walk over to the large windows. The view was almost better than the room itself. The lush lawn stretched out on the grounds below, a thick blanket of trees stood off in the distance, fencing in the grass. She looked to the right of the window and her eyes went wide at the sight of what appeared to be a small but ambitious garden. Several raised beds were lined up in neat little rows, along with a few ground-level beds off to the side.
She looked over her shoulder at Sam who was still standing there with his hands in his pockets, “is that your garden?” Maybe the light was playing tricks on her but she could’ve sworn that Sam’s cheeks reddened at the question.
“Yes.”
Her eyebrows raised in surprise, “you garden?”
“That’s typically what one does in a garden, Nat.”
Her brows fell at his tone, there was the Sam she knew.
“I was just surprised because you never took any of the horticulture classes at Lakewood, at least from what I remember.”
He shrugged, “I didn’t really get into it until after we graduated.”
The image of Sam Kiszka gardening was an image that would remain locked in her head. Nope, no one was going to know about the way she instantly envisioned Sam of all people gently watering a tomato plant.
“Well, hobbies are good,” she said lamely. What the fuck, Delaney? Hobbies are good? You simpleton.  Desperately needing to change the subject, she turned on her heel and pointed over to the roll top desk in the corner, “that’s really pretty.”
Sam looked over at the antique, he wouldn’t tell her that he spent the better part of an hour the day before dusting and polishing the wood. He wouldn’t tell her that he was on the floor making sure to get all the nooks and crannies of the legs, clearing out any cobweb he saw. There was no way he was going to let any piece of furniture be the subject of her scrutiny. Natasha Delaney, knowing he had a dusty house? That would be humiliating. Right?
Right?
“Oh, yeah, that was my great-grandmother’s. It was a present from my great-grandfather to make up for him being stuck in France for a lot longer than he intended because of a hunting job.”
Natasha nodded in response and walked over to the desk. She turned back to Sam, “can I…”
“Go right ahead,” he replied while walking over towards his rival.
She smiled and turned around to lift the roll top, but it didn’t budge. She tentatively tried again, but it would not lift at all. Well shit.
Sam saw her struggle and reached around her to help, their arms brushing against each other.
“Sorry it gets stuck sometimes,” he mentally cursed himself by not double checking before she got there. His large hand nearly wrapped around hers to get a grip on the small handle. Her wine-colored nails stood out to him. The undertone of the polish complimented her skin perfectly. The same skin that felt so soft in comparison to his. The image of Natasha meticulously painting her nails flashed in his mind but he quickly shook it away by focusing back on the desk. In slight frustration he jerked at the handle one final time and it immediately slid up and into place, revealing the rest of the desk.
A small gasp left Natasha’s lips as she saw the gorgeous inlays on the writing surface.
Sam refused to acknowledge the physical reaction he had at the sound, or where on his body it happened. It didn’t happen. Nothing to see here.
“This is so pretty! It had to be done by hand given the time period and the attention to detail. A machine could never do this,” she explained while lightly dragging her index finger along the edge of the main inlay in the center of the desk. She didn’t even realize she was rambling because of the proximity to Sam. He was still bent at the waist next to her, leaning his one hand on the desk. If she just turned her head to her right, ever so slightly, their cheeks would touch.
The two rivals stood there, rooted in the spot, waiting to see who was going to blink first in this standoff. Sam did not want to acknowledge how the loose spiral of blonde hair in front of her ear was just barely touching his face. He didn’t want to acknowledge how his lips could brush that same ear if he turned to his left just so. The silence was deafening.
They were so distracted that they didn’t even hear one of the doors downstairs open and shut.
They didn’t hear the footsteps on the stairs.
They didn’t-
“Natasha-fucking-Delaney,” a familiar and deep voice called warmly from the doorway. The sudden noise started them both and caused them to jump and spin around. Sam couldn’t even focus on the second sharp gasp that his house guest made so close to him. She had already taken off to envelope Danny in a hug. Sam stood there in front of that roll top desk, suddenly by himself.
For the first time since he was fourteen, Sam was disappointed at the sight of his best friend.

Cozy Cottage - Greta Van Fleet and co.
Summary: the gang goes to a cottage to celebrate the end of summer. Many memories are made
Content warnings: drinking
To celebrate the exit of summer and enter of autumn, Amelia and Sam planned a cottage trip for all the boys and their lovely girlfriends of course. So, the car was packed full of people and various other items, making the group ready to make some fall memories. “I call aux!” Gracie yelled as she jumped into the passenger seat. They had decided it was best if Danny drove, given that he was the best driver and it was a longer drive to get there. “I already know Priscilla is gonna sleep the whole way there” Josh teased her as he scooted in next to her, going to kiss her on the cheek as she turned away from him. “I’m not kissing you after that. And I'm gonna stay awake the whole time now that you’ve said that.” Josh laughed, making eye contact with Jake and shaking his head. Amelia and Sam were in the second row of seats next to Jake and pulled out a deck of cards from somewhere. They quickly started a very intense game of crazy 8's. Jake was sitting behind Gracie on the passenger side, he began poking her as she queued up a list of songs.
It was about halfway through the drive now, they had stopped twice, once so Gracie could pee and then again so Danny could get gas. All the boys had gotten out to go get snacks and when they had come back the four girls were all belting out the lyrics to Safari Song. “You've got to be kidding me” Sam rolled his eyes as he took his seat beside Amelia. “What, we’re just singing our favourite song from our favourite band.” She said as she scream sung the bridge in Sam's face. “You are a little shit” Gracie turned around to look at Jake as she excitedly pointed to the speakers saying “This is my boyfriend's song did you know that?” Jake laughed and kissed her on the forehead, the song continued playing as they pulled out of the driveway. Priscilla did fall asleep, but so did Josh. Evelyn was blowing Danny kisses from the backseat as he laughed and smiled, looking back at the road.
Eventually, they got there. They quickly unpacked all their stuff and made something quick for dinner. Opting to eat outside to enjoy watching the sun set. Danny and Jake worked together to make a fire to keep them all warm, everyone bundled up and huddled close to the fire. “I say we go swimming tomorrow” Amelia blurted out, everyone looked at her. “What? We have a lake. Plus i’m sure it won't be that cold” Josh looked at her and very carefully said, “Sunshine, the water might be warm but the air outside is cold, so even if we’re not cold in the water we will be out of the water” He was being condescending on purpose, knowing it would piss Amelia off a little bit. “Okay Joshua, then you can be boring and sit out. And if you do come in the water, I will drown you” She laughed as she said she would drown him, everyone joining her. “Well I say we need some drinks, what do you guys say?” Everyone cheered as Jake and Gracie got up to go fix everyone a drink. Jake grabbed the alcohol and began pouring it into glasses. Gracie came up behind him and wrapped her arms around him, “I’m really happy we’re here” She tucked her face into his shoulder as he continued to mix something up. Something that had entirely too much alcohol. He turned around once he was finished and placed a kiss gently on her lips. “Me too” They stood in the kitchen smiling at each other for a moment before Danny and Sam came in. Danny yelled “Hey lovebirds, where’s the drinks?” With a big smile on his face. Sam and Danny helped the other two carry out the drinks. And so that’s how the night fell, the 8 of them drinking around the fire, warm from the inside out.
The next morning, Sam and Amelia got up to begin cooking a warm breakfast for everyone. Amelia made cinnamon buns for them to enjoy as Sam made bacon and eggs. They poured the orange juice into a pitcher and set the table. Once everyone woke up, they sat down and enjoyed their wonderful breakfast. “So, what’s on the agenda for today?” Gracie asked as she polished off her second cinnamon roll. “I was thinking we could go for a walk?” Priscilla suggested, everyone agreed. “No one is to let Evie climb any trees though” Danny pointed out as they began getting ready for their walk. Evie pouted but made no move to disagree, (she would do it anyways). And so they set off. They began walking the trail, observing the trees in their various stages of colours. Reflecting on past events and sharing new laughter. Evelyn did find a tree to climb, but got down without any serious scratches or bruises. Danny made sure to give her a hard time about it, but ultimately was happy she was happy. When they got back to the cabin it was around dinner time. Josh and Jake volunteered to make some pasta. Meaning Jake would do all the real cooking and Josh would stir it every once in a while. The rest of them scattered to different parts in the house. “Jake” Josh said from the counter he was sitting on. Jake hummed in response as he chopped up various vegetables, “Do you think you and Gracie will be together forever?” Jake looked up at his older brother, questioning why he was asking. “Why do you ask?” Josh shrugged and stood beside him, “You have an answer” Josh pressed on, “Yeah, I mean. I hope I marry her someday” Josh smiled seemingly happy with that answer.  The two continued chatting and cooking until everyone was called for dinner. Once again, they enjoyed a lovely meal before heading back outside for another campfire. Amelia and Sam pointed at stars, Josh and Priscilla shared a chair and some marshmallows, Gracie swayed as Jake strummed a guitar, Evelyn and Danny sat beside each other, hand in hand. Each couple happy, in the company of each other and their little family surrounding them.

Kiss the Sun (prelude)

Pairing: Sam Kiszka x Danny’s Cousin!OC(Grace) Warnings: None (yet *wink**wink*)
Summary: Sam Kiszka, finds himself entangled in an unspoken love for Grace, the cousin of his bandmate Danny Wagner. Before the band's departure to follow their dreams, a fierce argument erupted between Sam and Grace, the origins of which remain shrouded in mystery even to the members of their families. This left their once-close relationship shattered and their true feelings buried even deeper within. As fate would have it, circumstances bring Grace and Josie to Los Angeles for an eventful summer with the band. The reunion triggers a whirlwind of emotions, with old feelings resurfacing as they are once again in each other's presence.
Grace was bored out of her mind in her dorm, wasting time until her last exam in an hour and then she could finally go home, back to Frankenmuth where she’d be bored all summer. That’s what life was since her two closest friends moved on to their big lifestyle, she was just bored, all the time.
A ring sounded through her dorm as she grabbed her phone, seeing Josie’s smiling face pop up on the screen. Sliding to answer she heard Josie yell, “Guess what?!”
Grace had barely any time to respond with a brief “What?” before Josie kept going.
“I just got off the phone with Danny and he said that we can go down to LA and stay with him and the guys for the summer!” She was overtly excited as she was probably jumping up and down on the other end of the phone.
“You’re kidding?”
“Nope!” She replied, popping the P. “I know you’ve been struggling with going to a new college and all and the guys being gone but I already talked to mom and she said I could go as long as you did, just so I wasn’t alone when they’re working.”
“You’ve really got this all planned out?” Grace laughed out.
“Of course!” There was a brief pause, “So? Are you coming or not?”
“Josie…”
“Oh come on!” She drug out her last word. “It’s been months, it can’t be that bad.”
“Listen, I would love to go see Danny, really, but I just don’t know about…” She trailed off.
“Ok well unless you’re finally going to tell me what happened between you and Sam then you have to come with me.”
“Josie, it’s really none of your business.”
“So you’re going to let me miss out on good quality time with my big brother just because you and Sam got into an argument?”
“Josie…” She sighed, hoping and praying she’d give her a way out.
“No. Unless you’re gonna tell me what happened that was sooooo bad then you have to come, end of discussion.”
There was some on Grace’s end as she tried to think of a lie that would suffice but none came to mind.
“Alright! It’s settled! You and I are flying out of Saginaw on Tuesday!” Grace dreaded her cousin’s words as she spoke excitedly. “I’ll let Danny know! Ahhh! I can’t wait! Bye, love you!”
Grace mumbled a brief “Love you.” Before she put her phone back on the bed, trying not to think about having to see her best friend after what happened.

Love Blooms
Josh Kiszka X Female OC (Caroline)
Writing this really felt like we were creating a lovely little rom com movie. Enjoy this journey into an AU where the band doesn't exist and Josh is a kindergarten teacher who falls head over heels for one of his students moms, Caroline.
A @lipstickitty / gracev0609 collaboration.
WC: 10k+
Warnings: 18+ only, Minors DNI, mentions of an absent parent, explicit sex, cutie pie Josh (bc that deserves a warning).
There was a slight chill in the October air as Josh stood outside with his classroom. He pulled the sleeves of his sweater down over his fingertips as he waved goodbye to his kindergarten class as they left with their parent, one by one. Josh looked at his watch, it was officially ten minutes past dismissal time and one little girl, Martine, was left. He smiled at her as she sat on the ground with her slightly too large bubblegum pink backpack playing with the rocks.
“Mr. Kiszka! Look at this cool rock!” She extended her small hand holding it up for him to look at.
“That is so cool, Martine! It's very sparkly.”
Josh's eyes lifted to the parking lot as he squatted to the ground searching for her parent.
“I wanna keep it!” She exclaimed, putting it in her skirt pocket.
Finally an older model Toyota Corolla turned into the lot speeding to the spots near the front. Parking next to his truck a woman with long blonde curls, strikingly similar to Martine's, jumped out of the front seat .
“I am so so sorry Mr. Kiszka! The usual route I take to get here- well - the road was closed! And there was a crazy detour, and I am so sorry!”
He smiled at her rambling, holding his hands out in front of him,” It's okay! As long as you're alright, we're fine. Martine was showing me some cool rocks she found just now.”
“I hope I didn't make you late for your after school plans!”
He giggled,” Just dinner in front of the TV!”
She leaned down scooping up her daughter and hitching her on her hip,” Sounds about the same for us.”
He couldn't help but acknowledge her beauty, her hazel eyes that were almost green, her hair spiraling down to her waist. He thought she was quite an attractive person. She was beginning to turn away and walk back to the car when he stopped her,” Oh! I didn't catch your name before! Im, um, I'm Josh…. Josh Kiszka, obviously because I'm Mr. Kiszka.”
Giggling at his rambling,” Hi Josh. I'm Caroline. Caroline Hart.”
His brows furrow almost imperceptibly,” Martine has a different last name? I'm sorry if that was too forward.”
“Oh! No. Martine's dad isn't in the picture, we um, we never got married. It's just her and I.”
“Oh.. I'm sorry. That was inappropriate of me to ask.”
“Josh it's fine, really we're not upset, it's all we know. We have a beautiful life just us girls.”
Josh smiled again,” I'm sure you do, Martine is wonderful to have in class. Speaking of, I better let you go. I'll see you girls tomorrow!”
He extended his hand out for her to shake,” It was a pleasure meeting you Caroline.”
She slid her hand into his, gripping it and shaking it, she couldn't help but feel how soft and warm and gentle they felt.
“Bye Josh. We'll see you tomorrow.”
And with that she turned and took her daughter to the car, strapping her into her car seat. Her mind was running so fast, she couldn't shake how attractive she thought he was, how kind he seemed. He's a kindergarten teacher after all.
Once Caroline got into her car safely Josh made his way to his own vehicle. His own mind racing, she was so beautiful and so strong. How could he possibly find one of his students' moms so attractive?
🍎✏️🍎✏️🍎
One frigid December morning, Josh was setting up his classroom for the class Christmas party early before his students arrived. The room had already been decked out in winter decorations since the beginning of December, but this was the last day of school before holiday break and he wanted to go all out for it. He strung lights around his desk and hung some ornaments and tinsel on some of the plants he kept in the room.
On the table, he’d set out a few different bottles of juice and a couple trays of cookies he’d made himself the night before just for the party, decorating them all night long. He’d sent a newsletter home the week before encouraging all the parents to come if they could make it and he was truly looking forward to it.
Once his classroom was decorated to his liking, he took a seat at his desk, tidying up some stray papers and various other belongings just to pass the time. Finally his kids started filing in, holding the hands of the adults dropping them off and greeting him with big smiles. He must have heard a chorus of at least 15 different “good morning, Mr. Kiszka”s when everyone had made their way inside.
He watched the kids hang their backpacks on their little hooks and take their seats, the parents that had to get to work kissing their children goodbye and making their exit, the ones that were staying for the party finding a seat near their child. With a glance over at the table holding the refreshments, he noticed that a few of the parents had brought something as well. He felt the corners of his lips turn up into a small smile when he saw Caroline sitting with Martine, brushing her long blonde curls out of her face.
Josh stood and made his way to the front of the room, “Good morning everybody!! I’m so glad all of you could make it to our Christmas party!” He beamed at his students. “It’s the last day of school before we go on Christmas break so we’re just gonna eat our snacks and have fun, okay? It’s a party!” He giggled, crossing the room to the snack table and telling everyone to line up to take their picks. He handed each one a napkin with their treat, giving them all a warm smile.
He greeted Martine with a smile as she grabbed a brownie off a tray that he hadn’t brought in, assuming one of the parents must have brought them. “My mommy made these.” She declared proudly, grinning at her teacher.
“Did she? That’s so cool! They look really good, I’ll have to try one!” His nose scrunched in a grin as he handed the little girl a napkin. She skipped back over to her mother and he continued handing out the treats.
Once everyone was back in their seats enjoying their snacks, Josh grabbed a cookie and a brownie for himself and took them over to his desk, staying true to his word about trying Martine’s mom’s brownies. It was one of the best brownies he’d ever eaten, not that he was expecting anything else.
His cheeks flushed when he made eye contact with Caroline as he was taking his second bite and she smiled a little smugly watching him enjoy the brownie.
A short while later, Josh broke out a few board games he kept in his classroom for free days, setting them up for anyone who wanted to play. He watched a few kids with their parents pick out a game to play, Martine leading a laughing Caroline straight to the Candyland board. Then Martine made her way over to him, “Mr. Kiszka, will you please play Candyland with us?” She asked with a slight pout. He glanced over to the board and saw that another child and parent had come over to play also so he figured it couldn’t hurt anything. He enthusiastically played through the game with the kids, cheering them on.
At the end of the school day, Josh hovered over by the classroom door, telling each of his kids goodbye and wishing them a good Christmas break and thanking each of their parents for coming. Martine and Caroline were the last ones out, Martine having taken her sweet time packing up her belongings, but he didn’t mind one bit.
“Merry Christmas, Mr. Kiszka!” Martine shouted, clapping her hands excitedly.
“Merry Christmas, Josh! I bet you’re looking forward to spending the break at home with your partner!” Caroline said with a sweet smile.
“I’m actually single right now, it’ll just be me!” He chuckled a little. “Might go see my family.”
“I’m sorry to assume!” She laid her hand on his arm gently. “I don’t have anyone right now either, it’ll just be us girls.” She pressed a kiss to her daughter’s forehead.
“That’s a shame, really. You’re too beautiful to be by yourself over the holidays.” He flirted, her cheeks burning red. She sputtered for a second, trying to come up with a response but drawing a blank as he giggled and wished them a merry Christmas once more, waving as they walked out the door.
🍎✏️🍎✏️🍎
Spring had sprung, and the plants in Josh's classroom were growing. Many of his trailing pothos had new leaves, their vines spreading out long in the welcome sunshine. While watering them one morning he saw that most if not all of the babies on his spider plant were quite large. An idea sparking in his head, he grabbed scissors and plastic sandwich baggies. Carefully he poked a few holes in each bag before snipping off enough spiderettes to send home to each child.
Once the end of the day was nearing, the kids had practiced their shapes and their alphabet. They went outside and played in the warming sun. Josh gathered up the plants in his hands before explaining what he was doing.,” Okay everyone! I have a surprise for all of you today. One of my plants grew enough babies that I am able to give each of you a little plant. Im sending you all home with a care sheet, along with your plant. You're going to want to plant it in some dirt, and put the pot in a nice sunny spot so it can grow big and beautiful. Also! You'll want to water it once a week, but that's all written on your sheets.”
One by one he walked around the room placing the baggie on each child's desk.
Once he got to Martine's desk she was practically vibrating out of her seat,” Mr. Josh I love plants! They're so pretty! My mommy has some! She has a huge one called a monster plant!”
Another child, Marcus, interrupted her,” You called him Mr. Josh! His name is Mr. Kiszka!”
Martine opened her mouth to argue back and Josh quickly jumped in,” Well, actually they're both my names. Like you have a first name and a last name, so do I! But, we want to call our teachers by their last names, so that's why I'm called Mr. Kiszka.”
Turning his attention to Martine,” I hope you and your mom enjoy your new plant!”
Another school day ended and Josh stood dutifully at the door waiting for each child's parents to come and pick them up, saying goodbye to each one. Soon enough Caroline was making her way through the door and Martine was gleefully greeting her,” Mommy! Look at the plant we got today!”
She held the baggie up, letting her mom inspect it,” Oh nice baby! We don't have this one yet, it's been on mommy's list.”
Josh's eyes widened, and he made his way over to them, whispering,”Do you want another one? I can quick snip you off another baby.”
She smirked, her cheeks pinkening,” Would you? I'd love that.”
“Anything for you Miss Caroline.”
Pretending to sneak over to his desk he grabbed a pair of scissors. He held his free hand up to his lips, making a ‘shh’ motion, before he slinked over to his plant and snipping another baby off. Quickly he set his scissors down in his cup of pens and pencils and walked back over to the girls. Extending his hand out he held the small spider plant baby in his palm,” For you.”
She smiled, he really was so sweet, she kept her voice low,” Thank you Josh.”
🍎
Caroline smiled as sweetly as she could, but quite frankly she was bored. She wished she could be doing quite literally anything else besides sitting here across from this man at this restaurant/ bar. He droned on and on about his vehicle, a lifted something with a V something else engine. Trying not to roll her eyes she tried to steer the conversation elsewhere but it kept circling back to his damn car. All she wanted was a nice dinner, a little conversation and hopefully a halfway decent time in bed. She clicked on her phone, peering at the lock screen looking to see if her mom texted her, but no there was no update or emergency text about Martine. In need of stretching her legs, and a break from this conversation she excused herself and walked her wine glass back up to the bar. She scanned the bar top looking for a place where she could wedge herself in and get a refill. She found an opening next to a man in a black oversized jacket with long brown hair flowing down his back. Squeezing herself in, she waited on the bartender's attention when she heard a familiar voice call her name,” Caroline?!”
Turning her head to the left she found him sitting next to the man with the long hair,” Josh?!”
“What are you doing here? This place is kind of a dive,” he chuckled,” Come sit with us! This is my brother, Jake. Jake, this is Caroline.”
He smiled and waved hello before taking a swig of his beer. Briefly she thought about her date, but decided that she'd have a much better time sitting with Josh then she ever would with him. She sat down in the empty barstool next to him. After Jake called the bartender over she took your order as well as Josh's, and Jake told her to close his tab and handed her his card.
“Have a nice night Josh. It was a pleasure Caroline.”
Another glass of white wine was placed in front of her as well as an amber colored beer in front of Josh. He took a sip,” So really, why are you here?”
Giggling she replied,”Oh! I was on a date. He picked this place. He was horribly boring, he only talked about his car.”
Josh gasped,” No! Not a car guy!”
“Yeah… a car guy.’ She put her head in her hands and laughed,” Thank you for the plants by the way, that was sweet.”
“Oh! No big deal, I had plenty to share. Martine was telling me that you like plants?’
Josh twists in his chair, his hand coming to rest on the back of hers, his thumb stroking across her bare skin exposed in her sleeveless top. She felt a shiver run down her spine at the light contact.
“I love plants. We have quite a few! A few cactuses, some pothos, and a large monstera. We got it when it was only three little leaves and now it's enormous!”
Josh beamed, her excitement mirroring her daughters when she was talking about the plants earlier,” You're really cute Caroline. I hope I'm not overstepping, but I find everything about you really attractive.”
She blushed, placing her hand on his thigh, gently squeezing the muscle,” I find you really attractive too. You're very kind, and you're pretty, and my daughter talks about you constantly. Can I tell you a secret?” She asked leaning forward, her lips brushing against his earlobe,” After every encounter we have, I can't stop thinking about you.”
Josh's breath shuttered, eager to see where the night takes them,” I can't stop thinking about you either.”
She leans back, smiling sweetly and grabbing her wine glass as she downs the rest of the pale yellow effervescent liquid.
“One more round and then we go?” She smiled, running her tongue across her top row of teeth.
“Um. Yeah, yeah. Absolutely, I want to.” Josh stuttered.
They continued to flirt through their next drink, talking, laughing and touching.
Josh and Caroline stand, moving down to the cash register so their tab can be closed out.
“I got it, really, teachers salary isn't that bad,” Josh chuckled.
She leaned in to him, slipping her hand under his shirt, her fingers trailing up and down his spine,” Thank you Josh.” She could feel him reacting to her touch, goose bumps forming under her palm.
Once the tab was closed he led her out of the bar towards his truck.
“I'll tell you where to go, I don't live too far.” Caroline told him as she directed him which way to turn once he was out on the main road.
A few turns later Josh clears his throat,” I don't want to be presumptuous or anything but… Do we need to stop at the drug store first?”
Caroline laughs, her hand reaching over the center console, gliding up his thigh getting closer and closer to his crotch,” No, sweetie. I have plenty of condoms at home.”
Josh smiles, one corner of his mouth turning up, his hand pulling hers off of his body before wandering over to her jean covered thigh, squeezing and kneading the flesh between his fingers.
She grabs his hand sliding it higher until it meets the warm juncture of her thighs.
Josh mutters fuck under his breath.
“Needy girl…”
“My mom has Martine for the night, and I really want to have fun, preferably with you. Could you believe I was going to give it up to the car guy if I hadn't ran into you?”
Josh cups her heat with more pressure,” He wouldn't have deserved it Caroline. You need someone to treat you as sweet as you are.”
She thought for a moment, from where she stood he seemed like the sweetest and most deserving man of a fun evening. She was happy that she ran into him.
As they pulled into her driveway, Josh’s fingers trailed along her inner thighs and then tangled in her hair, pulling her face close to his. “I’m really glad we ran into each other tonight.” He whispered, glancing down to her lips and leaning in ever so slightly closer.
“I was just thinking that.” She giggled, leaning in and closing the gap, pressing her plush pink lips to his. His eyes fluttered closed and he deepened the kiss, letting out a soft sigh into her mouth. After gently sucking her bottom lip between his and giving it a little nip, he pulled away and shut the car off, shutting his own door and jogging around the front to open Caroline’s as well. She watched him shut her door and then took his hand, leading him into her home for the first time.
She slammed the door behind them, “I’ll give you the grand tour.” She giggled, still pulling him by the hand. They walked all the way down the hallway passing the bathroom and the smaller bedroom he assumed to be Martine’s, until they reached her bedroom. “Here it is!” She laughed, flopping down onto the edge of her bed and raising her eyebrows at him.
“Wonderful tour, 5 stars. Very thorough.” Josh chuckled, coming to stand in between her legs and leaning in for another kiss. He couldn’t get enough of the way she tasted, the little sounds she made when his hands roamed her body, locating each sensitive spot and making mental notes of all of them.
Caroline’s hands started out buried in his hair, wandering down his neck to his chest as the kiss grew more heated. He hummed happily as she familiarized herself with the full expanse of his torso, whining when she separated their lips to rip his shirt over his head. The disappointment was very short lived, her mouth going straight to his neck as soon as the garment had been cast aside.
She wanted so badly to leave marks on him, sink her teeth into his throat, but she knew she couldn’t with all the little sets of eyes that were on him every day. She settled for soft, open mouthed kisses and tracing her tongue over his skin until she arrived at his chest, now that she could leave marks on. He let out a soft gasp when she bit into the muscle of his right pec, soothing over it with her tongue as she ran her fingers down his stomach.
He broke the kiss, a little breathless as he rushed to get her undressed. He stopped to take her in for a moment once he got her in just her lacy black bra and thong. “This was for him?” Josh scoffed. “That fucking car guy couldn’t have handled you, sweetheart.”
A sweet little breathy moan escaped from her when his lips met the heated skin of her chest, kisses and gentle nips of his teeth drawing the prettiest sounds from her. “Pants off, Josh.” She whispered, ghosting her fingers over the bulge straining the fabric.
He stood back a bit to kick the material off his legs, not caring where they ended up. He watched her eyes rake over him, blushing a little under her gaze. “What the hell do you do on the weekends, Kiszka? I know you didn’t get those muscles in your classroom.” She cackled, flopping backward into the mountain of pillows at the head of the bed. He opened his mouth to answer but no words came out as she hooked her fingers into the strings of her thong, pulling it down her legs tossing it at him. Reaching between her breasts she unclasped her bra, letting it slide down her shoulders.
“Come here big boy..’ she teased grabbing her breasts in her hands squeezing the plush flesh.
“You're so beautiful…” Josh slipped his underwear off, giving himself a few tugs of relief before climbing up onto the bed. He kissed her hard before gliding down her body, his face nuzzling and kissing her breasts, sucking on her nipples making her back arch into him.
She whined his name, gently pushing his head further down her body.
“You want me to lick it? Suck on it, make you feel so so good?”
Cupping her hands around his face her eyes pleaded before her lips did.
“Please Josh… eat me out?”
His lips left hot kisses down her tummy, kissing her mound. Her legs spread wide, welcoming him. Her breath caught, as he dipped his tongue in her wet folds. Groaning, she tilted her head back enjoying the feeling. He lapped at her swollen bud, swirling his tongue around it, licking and sucking. Dipping his tongue down he teased her sopping wet entrance. Slipping his tongue inside, she gasped. Licking his way back up to her clit he babied it in his mouth until her legs were shaking.
“Cum for me baby, please, right in my mouth.”
One final hard suck on her clit and pleasure was crashing down on her in waves, delicious Josh induced waves. When she finally came down he pulled his mouth away as she was panting desperately trying to catch her breath.
“You're…. You're good at that.” She breathed, her breasts heaving.
Gently he moved back up her body, his wet warm mouth leaving kisses on her breasts.
She pushes his curls back away from his forehead,” Can… can I go down on you?”
“No honey, not tonight, we can get to that later I just want to make you feel good.’
He continues to press kisses to wherever he can reach.
“ Josh?”
“Hm?”
“It's been a little while since I've last… had fun with a man.” Caroline told him, cheeks reddening.
“Don't worry honey, I'm gonna take my time, treat you so well… you deserve it.”
She sighed melting into the pillows,” I want you now Josh, want to feel you.”
He whispered okay, moving off of her body so she could retrieve the condom from her nightstand. After a moment of digging she hands him a square. Quickly he unwraps it, rolling it down his cock. She rolls back over, hitching her leg over his thigh, a slight pout on her face,” You didn't even let me touch your cock.”
Josh laughs,” I'm sorry, you said you wanted me now.”
She skirted her hand down his slightly soft stomach, over his hip bones, before lightly teasing the suede soft skin of his uncovered shaft. She dances her fingertips over his latex covered cock until she takes him firmly in her hand squeezing him while rubbing his slit with her thumb. His voice comes out gravelly, reveling in her touch,” Do you have more condoms? Because I'd really like to take this off so I can feel your touch.”
She leans back over to root through her nightstand, he can't help but watch as her breasts jiggle as she moves. Giggling, she tosses a strip of golden foil at him.
“We have enough for a do over, and another round or two if you're up for the challenge.”
He swallows harshly, could he be falling in love already? Before he can move her hands are on him, rolling off the latex, tossing it into the trash can. She grips him in her fist, slick from the inside of the condom and begins pumping him. He melts back into the pillows, not remembering the last time someone's hands felt this good. She works him until he's twitching and leaking,” Are you sure I can't suck it? You have such a pretty cock.”
Josh whines, she's so pretty with such a filthy mouth.
“Just let me taste you baby. Real quick.”
Dipping her head down she sticks her tongue out, lapping up the trail of precum. She hums when the earthy salty taste of his arousal meets her tongue. Opening up another foil packet she carefully rolls it down his length, her hands moving further downwards to cup his warm balls making him gasp.
“You're such a tease Caroline. God, I haven't been this worked up in ages.’
Quickly he flips her onto her back, smiling as she looks up at him with lust filled doe eyes. He leans down, kissing her,” Gonna be so good to you…”
Her legs part naturally to accommodate his hips, fisting himself he lines up gently pushing himself inside. So slowly he enters her, her tight walls relaxing against him. Soon enough he's fully sheathed inside her warm wetness, he can feel her clenching and unclenching around him. “Such a good girl, taking me so well. You wrapped me up in velvet, feels so good baby.”
Josh continues kissing her, his lips melding with hers as she continues to adjust to him. In between kisses she tells him that he can start to move. Slowly he rears his hips back, pulling out only half way, before pushing back in giving her a gentle thrust. A small moan slips from her lips, as he does it again and again gently working up to a regular pace. Little gasps and whines freely fall from her lips, she can't keep quiet and they're ringing in his ears. Her hands pulling him closer, she gasps,” Just a little harder Josh, mm so close.”
In no time she's crying out, clenching hard around him as she cums for the second time, Josh grits his teeth and fucks her through it. Sloppy wet thrusts ring out in her bedroom, he can't get over how messy her pretty cunt is, coating his entire length, dampening his pubic hair.
“You feel so good baby. So so good, fuck…” she clenches around him causing him to whine,” I'm gonna cum soon.”
She cups his face, his cheeks pink and his curls damp and sweaty,” Do it Joshy, I wanna watch you. I bet you cum so pretty.”
He gasps, jaw falling slack, his eyebrows furrow and he moans falling under the waves of pleasure of his own orgasm. Caroline whines as she feels him pulsing, filling up the latex with his warmth. Josh pumps his hips a few more times letting her warm walls coax out every drop he has to give. Stroking his cheeks she coos,” Good boy Josh. I felt you, felt so good.”
Dazed from his orgasm he pulls out, tying off the rubber and putting in the trash can next to her bed. Turning back to her he snuggles into her body, his head resting in her lower stomach showering it with kisses. He looks up at her, big brown eyes pleading,” Can I eat you out until I get hard again?”
She giggles, tangling her fingers in his curls, gently pushing his head down.
🍎✏️🍎✏️🍎
The next morning Josh woke a little startled, realizing he wasn’t in his own bed. Once he took in his surroundings though, he realized he was in Caroline’s bed, fully bare and pressed against her body, holding her against his chest. He took the time to really look at her, studying her features while she slept. He couldn’t believe how beautiful he thought she was even sleeping, the little puffs of her breath heating his skin.
He watched her eyes gently move under her lids, wondering what she was dreaming about. Slowly, feather lightly, he traced one finger down her nose and over her lips, her nose scrunching up a bit in her sleep. When she started to stir he trailed his fingers up and down her spine, gently rousing her from her slumber.
A grin stretched across his face when her eyes fluttered open, “Good morning gorgeous.” He pressed sweet kisses to her cheeks and forehead making her giggle.
She yawned, “Morning Josh.” Her eyes opened a little wider, “Shit, what time is it?”
His hand reaches out to the bedside table, searching for his phone. He brings the device closer to his face, eyes narrowing a bit as his still sleepy eyes adjust to looking at the screen.
“It’s… 10:30. Why?” His brows furrowed in confusion.
“Fuck. My mom will be dropping Martine off any minute now. I didn’t set an alarm, I never sleep this late!” She whined, jumping up off the bed and dashing to her closet, rooting around for something, anything for the two of them to wear before her daughter arrived.
“Hey, it’s okay. We can just tell Martine I came over to check on the spider plant babies. If we don’t act like anything’s wrong, she won’t think anything’s wrong.” Josh soothed, coming up behind her to gently rub some of the tension from her shoulders as she searched.
Finally she emerged from the closet with the baggiest pair of sweats she owned and a big t-shirt for Josh, and a pair of black leggings and a t-shirt for herself. They dressed quickly, frantically trying to tame each other’s wild hair as soon as they were clothed, then they heard the front door open and shut followed by Martine’s excited voice as she made her way inside. She was eager to tell her mom about all the fun things she and her grandmother had done.
“Living room, she can’t find us in here. Go, go!” Caroline whisper-yelled, tugging him by the hand out into the hallway. They reached the living room, a little out of breath, just before Martine walked in there.
Her eyes popped a little when she saw her teacher in her living room, a big smile taking over her face, “Mr. Kiszka!!” She squealed, running over to both of them.
“Hi, Martine! I just came to check on the spider plant babies for you and your mom since you’ve never had them before! They’re doing so well, I’m so proud of you!” Josh beamed at her.
Caroline and Josh both took a seat on the couch, Martine excitedly climbing up right in between them. “I was just about to put on some coffee, Josh, would you like a cup?” He nodded with a grateful smile, watching as she walked off into the kitchen.
“Did you have fun with grandma, baby?” Caroline asked her daughter as she made her way back over to the couch to sit while the coffee brewed.
Martine enthusiastically launched into the full play by play of everything they’d done, absolutely thrilled to be telling her mom and her favorite teacher about her day. “We worked in the garden and she let me help pull weeds and plant seeds, and we made cinnamon rolls for breakfast, and she let me stay up late watching movies but I’m not supposed to tell!” Her sentence ended in a whisper looking directly at Josh, seemingly forgetting her mother was right on the other side. Throughout her story she’d been inching closer and closer to Josh, so excited to see him at her house that she’d ended up almost in his lap, little hands gesturing wildly as she spoke.
Caroline was almost in a daze, watching Josh interact with her baby so sweetly, the way he really listened to her and responded perfectly, her heart melting. Finally she snapped out of it and noticed how close Martine had scooted over to him, giggling a little, “Remember, personal space, baby.” She gently reminded the little girl, brushing her fingers through her baby’s soft blonde locks.
“Oh no she’s fine, she’s just excited! Don't worry about it, really!” Josh laughed, turning his head just briefly to meet her gaze and her breath caught in her chest. His big brown eyes so soft and sweet as he looked between her and her daughter, he looked like he was really truly happy to be there with them.
Finally Caroline’s eyes zeroed in on his crotch, even the big, baggy sweats not doing much to hide anything. She let her mind wander for a moment, thinking about the night before, how he’d looked and felt between her legs, and all the other things she’d still love to do to him.
“Mommy, can I go color?” Martine’s big hazel eyes meeting her mother’s that so closely matched her own.
“Of course baby, your coloring books and crayons are on the kitchen table.” She smiled at her little girl, kissing the top of her head before she ran off to the kitchen.
“What’re you thinking about?” Josh asked with a smirk once Martine was out of earshot, having noticed her staring.
“Oh nothing, just the fact that those sweats you have on really don’t hide very much.”
His cheeks burned red and he searched his mind far and wide for something to fire back but couldn’t think of anything, not with the way she’d just caught him off guard and the small child happily coloring in the next room.
His face fell a little as his thoughts started to race, thinking of all the things that could go wrong. He felt a sinking in the pit of his stomach and it really threw him, he’d been so completely happy just minutes before. “Hey, Caroline… I had the best time with you, really. You’re incredible and I really want to spend more time with you, and I don’t want to upset you, but… I don’t think we can be anything serious right now. I’m her teacher, my job could be on the line. Fuck.”
Her heart plummeted into her stomach though she knew he was right, nodding once in agreement. “You’re right. Nothing more until she’s out of your class.” Her voice was soft, looking at his chin so she didn’t have to directly meet his gaze, afraid if she did her lip might start trembling.
Josh sighed heavily, pulling her into his arms and gently petting her hair back. “I should go, but I’d really like to see you again, Caroline.” He whispered, leaving her with a chaste kiss to her lips and a soft squeeze to her shoulder.
“Are you leaving, Mr. Kiszka?” Martine asked innocently.
“Yeah, I gotta get going but I’ll see you at school Monday okay? Keep up the good work with the plants!” He waved at her as he let himself out. He wasn’t sure what the hell he’d gotten himself into.
🍎✏️🍎✏️🍎
Josh had his AC cranked in his little modular classroom, he was trying his best to keep his kiddos cool. The metal box he taught in got warm quickly especially in the first few hot days of spring.
“Okay everyone! Let's pack everything up, it's almost dismissal time.”
Martine wiggled in her seat, jutting her hand high above her head as he walked by her desk.
“Yes, Martine.” He stopped in front of her and smiled.
“Mr. Kiszka! My plants are growing!”
His grin grew wider,” That's amazing Martine, you must be taking excellent care of them.”
Yet again, with the repetition of the school day parents slowly filed in to pick up their children. A few students' parents returned their permission slips for the spring field trip, he gathered them in his hands walking back behind his desk. Sitting down in his desk chair he leaned over opening the filing cabinet, finding the correct spot he placed them in with the others. While his head was buried in his papers he heard his most favorite familiar voice,” Hi Joshy.”
He smiled wide, lifting his eyes to her. Upon noticing her figure wrapped up in a tight tank top and short denim shorts he began blushing,” Hi Caroline. How are you?”
She smiles at him, leaning down over his desk, handing him a slip of paper,” Here's Martine's permission slip.”
Very subtly she pushed her chest out, and he gulped. The pink in his cheeks intensifies as he feels the familiar stirring in his pants.
“Thank you…’ he fumbles with the paper in his hands.
“You good Josh?” She smirks knowing exactly what is happening beneath his desk.
“Mmhmm! Yeah! I'm fine. Um, have a good night!”
She whispers,” You're cute when you're flustered.”
Martine waves goodbye as her mom ushers her out of his classroom. Josh crosses his arms and lays his head down on his desk wondering how she has so much of a hold over him. He couldn't believe he saw the slightest peek of her breasts spilling out and he got a boner like a damn teenager. After a few deep breaths he hears his phone vibrating in his desk drawer. He opens the drawer, grabbing it and unlocking it. Inside he finds a text from Caroline.
Caroline: It's okay baby, I was also thinking about riding you earlier today.
His jaw drops staring at his phone, unable to stop the blood flowing to his groin he huffs out a breath and starts typing away.
Josh: …. You're evil.
Josh: You couldn't have even waited until I got home. What am I supposed to do now?
Caroline: You could come over, say around 10?
Josh: Will you be able to stay quiet?
Caroline: You'll just have to push my face into the pillows.
Josh dropped his phone, clattering on his desk. Muttering fuck under his breath. Quickly he typed one more message before gathering his things to go home.
Josh: I'll be there, 10 o'clock sharp.
Josh locked the classroom door and walked over to his truck climbing in and he sat down, starting it and shifting into drive. Through his commute home he couldn't help but think about Caroline, imagining himself taking her from behind and pushing her gorgeous face into the pillows on her bed. He imagined her moaning into them with every thrust of his hips. Admittedly his cock was still hard and his wandering thoughts were only making him throb. His right hand dropped from the steering wheel, coming to his crotch. Slowly he started rubbing himself through his pants, and he gently groaned. He wanted it to be Caroline's hand on him, hers had felt so good the night before. He teased himself and squeezed his cock the entire ride home, by the time he pulled into his driveway he knew his underwear was soaked in his precum.
Taking a deep breath he gathered his things and made his way inside his home. Dropping his things off at the kitchen table he beelines it to his shower eager to get himself ready for his evening.
🍎
Josh put his truck in park in Caroline’s driveway before sending her a text.
Josh: Let me in?
A few moments later he saw Caroline stick her head out the front door, waving him in with a big grin.
“That was a mean trick you played on me today, baby.” Josh spoke softly right in her ear once the door was safely shut behind him, one of his hands brushing her long curls away from her neck before laying a few gentle kisses over her skin. She playfully shushed him with one finger over his lips, pointing over her shoulder to Martine’s room before folding her hands under her head to say ‘she’s asleep’.
She took him by the hand and dragged him down the hall to her bedroom. She pushed the door closed behind them so slowly it didn’t even make a creak before pouncing on Josh, tackling him to the bed.
“Was I so mean to you, Joshy?” She feigned a pout, slipping her hand between their bodies to grip his length over his pants. He shivered a little at the contact, having been craving her touch all day long.
“So mean.” He agreed, pulling her hips down against his own trapping her hand in between. “You had me so hard I had to touch myself on the drive home, needed you so bad.” He leaned up to attach his lips to her neck, teasing kisses and nibbles making her shudder as she tightened her grip, squeezing his cock harder through the fabric.
“That’s really fucking hot, Josh. So desperate you couldn’t even wait until you got home.” She connected their lips in a heated kiss, running her tongue across his lower lip prompting him to deepen it.
Finally she pulled away to take a breath, leaning to the side a bit to give herself a better angle to undo his pants, pulling them down his thighs as best she could and letting him kick them off the rest of the way. “Your turn.” He whispered, taking the opportunity to rip her tank top over her head. She knelt on the mattress to unbutton and unzip her shorts, Josh helping her slide them down and off her legs.
One handed, Josh ripped his own shirt off before flipping Caroline on her back and crawling over top of her, peppering kisses where the tops of her breasts were spilling out of her lacy white bra. He brought one hand down to cup her over her thong, the slight pressure pulling a gasp from her lips.
“You’re so wet, baby. Did being a little tease get you all worked up too?” He smirked, pushing the fabric to the side to swipe two fingers through her soaked folds, feeling her practically drenching his hand. She nodded, her hips bucking into his touch.
Josh reached underneath her body to unclasp her bra, gently sliding it from her arms and taking her in for a moment. Cheeks all flushed with arousal, lips slick and kiss-swollen, nipples pebbled aching for his touch.
He swooped down and swirled his tongue over one before fully enveloping it in the wet warmth of his mouth, the suction and gentle graze of his teeth over her flesh drawing out a whine.
“Gotta stay quiet for me, baby. Or do you need your face buried in the pillows already?” He taunted as he pulled her thong down her thighs, taking his bottom lip between his teeth at the sight of her spread out for him.
“Please?” She begged, her big hazel eyes pleading with his.
He stifled a groan, the fucking begging. “Flip over for me.” He rasped, waiting for her to comply. Josh stripped his boxers off while Caroline got situated, biting back another noise at the sight of her on all fours, back arched, looking at him over her shoulder.
He situated himself on his back between her thighs, pulling her hips down to attach his lips to her dripping center. Hearing the beginnings of a whine about to escape, Josh reached one hand up to gently push her head down into the pillows. His other hand dipped down between his own legs, stroking himself gently to alleviate some of the ache. His tongue dragged through her folds, savoring the sweet taste of her arousal on his tongue. Even though her cries were being muffled into the mountain of pillows, they were still some of the prettiest sounds he’d ever heard. She felt his tongue circle her swollen, sensitive clit before sucking it into his mouth, spoiling it as his first two fingers on his free hand circled her entrance. Her muffled moans and pushing her hips back into his hand were all the encouragement he needed, pushing both fingers fully into her. He pumped them in and out with a curling motion, hitting her g-spot with perfect precision while his mouth worked diligently against her clit. In what felt like no time at all he felt her walls beginning to clench around his fingers, not switching up a single thing he led her right off the edge into her first orgasm. He worked her through it, relishing in the soft sounds the pillows didn’t completely silence.
When her body slumped forward into the sheets, Josh slowly removed his fingers, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. He stretched his arm across the bed to the bedside table, opening the top drawer to retrieve a condom. Her arm reached out blindly, trying to locate the drawer or possibly point them out but Josh gripped her wrist, gently bringing her arm back to her side.
“Don’t you dare move an inch, Caroline. I remember where they are. Sneaky little girl, hiding them under a magazine…” he warned, ripping the foil open and rolling the latex down his cock tugging it a few times.
At his warning Caroline seemed to find her second wind, fixing her position where she had basically folded on the bed and arching her back, wiggling her hips to encourage him to hurry up.
“Bite down if you need to baby, we can’t wake her up.” He growled, finally pushing into her tight wet heat. He muffled a groan with a bite on her shoulder blade, building up to a steady pace with his hands gripping onto her hips.
Caroline’s moans and whimpers gradually increased in volume prompting him to push her head down into the pillow a bit more, her teeth sinking into it in a desperate attempt to keep quiet. Her hips kept rocking back to meet his thrusts and the tip of his cock hit her cervix with the most delicious painful pleasure. Josh was draped over her back, letting out little grunts into her ear. He bit down on his bottom lip until it almost drew blood, feeling her starting to flutter and clench around his pulsing cock.
One of his hands left her hips to snake around and rub quick circles around her clit, feeling her body start to shake with her impending release.
“Cum for me Caroline,” his whisper was strained in her ear, holding back his own climax until he gets to feel her cumming around him. “God you feel so fucking good, c’mon baby soak my cock.” He gritted through clenched teeth, his words sending her over the edge biting down hard on the pillow as her eyes rolled back. The gush of wetness flooding around him combined with how tight she was squeezing him sent him over the edge, cock twitching wildly as he pumped his release into the condom and his hips came to a stop.
Slowly he pulled out of her and removed the condom, tying it off and throwing it into the trash. He flopped back onto the pillows, pulling Caroline’s body into his where she’d collapsed boneless on the bed. He held her close to his chest, brushing his lips over the top of her head and stroking his fingers up and down her back.
Her eyes were barely open, a blissed out smile on her lips with her face buried in Josh’s chest letting her hand trail over his chest. “Are you— will you stay?” She yawned, voice all dreamy, and he knew she was barely even conscious.
“Yeah, of course I’ll stay.” He whispered, kissing her goodnight and soaking in the feeling of her skin on his.
🍎✏️🍎✏️🍎
The end of the week was nearing, and Josh was feeling it. The kids in his class had been extra rambunctious and his late night escapades had drained his energy. Jake had asked him to go out, but ultimately Josh suggested that he come over and they could chill out on his patio with a cold case of beer.
Josh was already leaning back on his patio chair in the early evening sun when he heard Jake's car door shut in his driveway.
“Already back here!” Josh called over his shoulder.
Jake emerged from the side of his house carrying the case of beer in one hand and a cheap pack of gas station cigars in the other.
“Hey fucker. What's up man, rough week?” Jake asked, sitting down in the lounge chair next to him.
Josh ripped open the cardboard box, plucking a still icy beer and cracking it open. After taking a swig he replies,”Not necessarily rough, just long. The kids are getting rowdy, they're definitely comfortable now. And I think they're acting up because it's actually nice outside and they just want to play,” he took another swig and smirked over his bottle,” I've had some really late nights too, haven't been home much.”
Jake looked over at him, pale grey smoke billowing from between his lips as he took the first drag of his cigar,” Not home? Does this have anything to do with that chick we ran into at that bar?”
“It does.” Josh said, reaching for the pack of cigars and bic lighter.
Jake cocked his head to the side,” Come on now, don't make me pry it out if yah.”
Josh just shook his head, the grin never leaving his lips. “So, are you two like… a thing now?”
“No, not a thing.” He lit his own cigar, taking a puff, “We’ve just hooked up a few times. Nothing serious.” He explained, voice coming out a little thick from the smoke being exhaled while he spoke.
Jake took a couple sips of his own drink, meeting Josh’s eyes with a skeptical look on his face. “You? A booty call?” His eyes sparkled as a smirk formed on his face, ready to make all the jokes he could at his brother’s expense.
“Yes, asshole, a booty call. If you must word it like that.” Josh scoffed, rolling his eyes. He chugged the remainder of his beer before opening a fresh one.
“You? Mr. Relationship? What happened, was that her idea?”
“No, actually it was mine.” Josh’s voice got quieter, knowing he wouldn’t get away with not explaining further.
“Gonna need a bit more than that.” Jake laughed, playfully shoving his shoulder.
“It was my idea not to be anything serious because she’s one of my student’s moms.” Josh rushed out in one long breath, watching his brother’s eyes widen in amused surprise.
“One of your student’s moms?! Damn, that’s not what I was expecting. Wouldn’t have pegged you for the one to go after a MILF.” Jake tossed his head back laughing loudly.
Josh smacked him on the chest, glaring at him daring him to say something else.
“Okay, okay. Can’t say I blame you, she was pretty hot.”
Josh jabbed him in the ribs, “Shut the fuck up.” he tried to sound angry still but couldn’t hold back his laughter any longer. “I’m not gonna give you any details or anything, but the sex is fucking phenomenal.” He smirked.
“You’re not gonna tell me anything? You’re a fuckin’ tease, man, she like that about you?”
Josh giggles, taking a puff of his dwindling cigar,” She's the tease if anything.”
Jake's face fell,” Dude come on! Please?! I told you all the details of my one night stand last weekend. Throw me a bone!”
Josh threw his head back and laughed,” Alright, I'll give you one detail-”
Jake's jaw dropped,” Only one?!”
“Yes, only one. I like her Jake, I wanna keep seeing her”
Jake smiled, his twin was totally smitten.
“The first time we slept together she threw a strip of condoms at me, telling me, not asking, that we're gonna go multiple rounds.”
Jake chuckles,” That's hot man. Definitely a MILF.”
“Bro, shut the fuck up!”
🍎✏️🍎✏️🍎
His brain was hazy with that post orgasm bliss as he laid in her fluffy soft comforter, Caroline's head resting on his chest. Her head subtly bobbing up and down with each of his inhales and exhales, his fingers tracing shapes on her back. They were so comfortable, sleep was calling to them. Her fingers softly scratching in the subtle dusting of hair on his tummy, quietly she breathed,” Joshy?”
“Yes baby?”
“Is school done yet?” Her bottom lip jutted out, the side of her face still pressed to his chest.
Josh sighed,”Trust me Caroline, I'm counting down the days.”
“I know you are. I am too.” She let out a soft sigh, pressing a kiss to his chest where her head rested. “How many days is that, again?”
“Trust me, I want to take you on a real date so badly, Caroline. I want to be able to get a cup of coffee with you, or go on walks in the park together. I want to be more than a hook-up. I want to do this for real.”
She heard the sadness in his tone, leaning up to kiss him with her hands gently cupping his cheeks, “I do too, Joshy. Soon.”
“You’re right, baby. Soon.”
🍎
Josh looked around his classroom, taking in the mostly bare walls and various belongings in boxes around the room. It was finally the last day of school and it had been an insane year, but also definitely his favorite of his whole career because it brought Caroline to him. He helped the kids get packed up and with the time left over he stood up in the front of the room and went around asking each of his students their favorite part of the year and what they were looking forward to over the summer.
Dismissal time was a little bittersweet, he was sad to see his kids go and he knew he’d miss them a great deal, he never forgot his past classes. But his mind was also buzzing with all the possibilities- now that he wouldn’t be Martine’s teacher anymore, it was like the whole world opened up. He didn’t have to be Mr. Kiszka to Martine anymore, he could just be Josh and they could play in the park. He could take Caroline to the movies or out to dinner, and not have to worry about being caught in the middle of the night.
All the kids lined up by the classroom door with their backpacks on, Josh gave a few goodbye hugs to the students that asked for them, he knew this wasn’t easy for them either. Martine was the last to be picked up yet again, but this time he knew it was intentional.
When Caroline walked through the door, glowing in her sundress she offered a shy smile and he just shook his head, pulling her in for a hug which Martine happily joined in on. The little girl was chattering excitedly, telling them all about how much fun she had this year and how excited she was to be a big first grader now.
When her rambling paused for a minute, Caroline turned to meet Josh’s gaze with a smirk turning up her lips, “So… she’s out of your class now…”
“You’re right, she is.” He couldn’t wipe the smile off his face if he tried. “Would you do me the honor of joining me for dinner tomorrow night? A first, official, date?” He lowered his voice to a whisper, “I’ll take you somewhere much nicer than that old dive bar.”
She placed her hands on his chest, “Oh, but we ended up having so much fun there.” She giggled, one hand coming up to stroke his cheek. “I would absolutely love to go on a date with you, Josh.”
He crashed their lips together, pouring out all the pent up emotion he’d felt for her with no appropriate outlet into the embrace. “Thank god.” He laughed, scooping Martine up into his arms to carry her out to the car for her mom.
“Mommy! Can we go get ice cream? I was pretty good this year!” Martine bargained while in Josh's grasp.
Caroline laughed,” Sure baby, we can get some ice cream.”
Josh gently set her down on her feet in front of Caroline's car. Caroline got her strapped in and situated in the back seat, closing the door she turned to Josh,” You can come with us, if you want.”
He smiled,” I'd love to, but I have some more things to wrap up before I leave. You girls go have fun, I'll see you tomorrow night.”
She giggles rounding the front of her car,” Unless I text you to come over tonight.”
Now it was Josh's turn to laugh,” Patience baby, patience. I'll see you for our date.”
He waved goodbye before turning on his heel heading back into his classroom to finish up for summer break.
🍎✏️🍎✏️🍎
A few weeks passed, the warmth of the summer months welcoming and harboring their blooming love. Caroline wasn't ready for Martine to regularly see Josh in her home, which he understood and always set an alarm early in the morning so he could slip out without her little girl knowing any different. This morning however their evening activities had caught up with him, he was exhausted, between staying up in the early morning hours and the physical exertion she demanded from him. His alarm blared on his phone and his eyes fluttered open, 6 am feeling entirely too early,he hit the snooze button. After repeatedly hitting the snooze alarm Caroline stirred away, softly she cooed,” Josh, honey. You've gotta get up, it's almost 7.”
His eyes fluttered open, meeting hers for a moment before he slipped back into dreamland.
She sighed, softly stroking the fuzzy hairs of his eyebrows,” Oh baby… Such a tired boy.”
She tried a few moments later to wake him up one more time to no avail. Accepting the situation, she mentally prepared herself for Josh and Martine inevitably meeting this morning. Quietly she climbed out of bed, letting him sleep in. She closed her bedroom door and padded out to the kitchen and started making a pot of coffee. Not long after she heard little feet heading her way along with some not so quiet giggles. Turning she laid her eyes on her beautiful Martine, her blonde curls frizzy waving around like a halo atop her head. Her pant leg askew and her spaghetti strap slipping off her shoulder, her little girl slept hard. Smiling Caroline knelt down and fixed her baby's pajamas, smoothing out her hair with her palm. She got her little girl a glass of orange juice and carried it over to the table along with her mug of coffee. Climbing up in the chair next to her they drank their morning beverages, a morning ritual they had.
“Sweetie, Mommy has something to tell you okay?”
“Okay Mommy.” She said, taking a sip of her juice, a small orange dribble running down the corner of her mouth.
“So, I want you to know that Mr. Kiszka is here.”
Martine's eyes lit up in excitement, he was currently her favorite person in the world.
“He's going to come out of Mommy's room when he wakes up, and he's going to be in his pajamas okay.”
She nods her head, eager to see him.
“I know you really like him baby, and I do too.” Caroline took a deep breath,” I think we should start calling him Josh instead of Mr. Kiszka.”
“Okay!”
A few moments later she heard her bedroom door open and close and a disheveled boy came wandering towards the kitchen. Before Caroline could greet him Martine opened her mouth gleefully shouting,” Good morning Josh!”
Josh beamed looking at Martine before looking at her mom who was smiling back at him.
“Good morning my girls!”

Rollin’ and Tumblin’ Chapter 4

Word Count: 3.5k
Chapter 4
As the summer rolled on, your time with Jake did as well. Sundays became your sneak away days. There was no work to be done on Sundays but Jake still came to the farm. Every Sunday at noon, right after lunch, you’d meet him behind the barn and as long as you were back before dinner and relatively clean, no one would suspect a thing.
The only person who knew was Katherine, your lady’s maid.  She had known about Jake since the very beginning and she was trustworthy. Through the years, she had kept all your secrets. After all, you’d known her since you were an infant. She was more of a friend rather than a lady’s maid. She was always prepared with a lie to be told if anyone asked for your whereabouts.
In just a few short weeks of spending time with Jake, you’d grown to truly care for him in ways you didn’t even know were possible. You did a lot of things together. He taught you how to fish, how to throw a baseball, and not to mention, he taught you how to make him feel good in certain ways, to say the least.
But despite all that, your favorite thing was reading to him. You would sit down at the base of the hillside and he would lay his head on your lap and close his eyes while you read him books and combed your fingers through his hair. He loved to be read stories. He said it reminded him of his mother who he missed a lot.
After bidding Jake goodbye on Sunday afternoons, you’d watch him work each weekday and count down the days until you could see him again.
This week, the day came sooner than expected.
It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon in late August. The weather was just starting to cool down and it was the perfect day for an outdoor lunch. Your mother’s friends and their daughters all came to your home for sandwiches and lemonade in the backyard.
The daughters were all girls you grew up with, some a bit younger than you and some of them your age and married with children who stayed home with nannies.
The group of you talked and sipped lemonade on the porch while everyone around you was working.
Housemaids served food to the tables of women in the shade while farm hands, Jake included, hauled and cut wood to build a fence over by the barn in the sun.
“What are you looking at, Claire?” you asked one of the girls at the table, as she peeked over the rim of her glass in the direction of the men.
Claire was younger, eighteen years old, and set to be married to the heir of a successful steel milling company in just a few months. She was silly and outgoing. She waved to the men and giggled, causing every girl at the table to turn their heads towards the barn to see who she was waving at.
Standing next to Jake was a man you'd never seen before. He was a taller, skinnier man, with brown hair falling down past his shoulders just like Jake’s except slightly darker and his was tied up into two messy braids. He was wearing denim head to toe and had on a dirty brown hat which he tipped at Claire in response to her wave.
“The tall one is rather cute,” Claire said dreamily.
The girls at the table giggled quietly as they continued staring at them while they worked.
“Yes, but the shorter one is handsome,” another one of your friends, Margaret, chimed in with her eyes set on Jake.
“Look at his legs in those pants,” she said as she stared at him, “I wonder what he looks like wi-”
“Margaret, be a lady! We’re having lunch!” Claire interrupted with a slight laugh in her voice.
The girls at the table giggled and whispered at Margaret’s unfinished comment and Claire’s sudden stop of it.
You let out a few fake laughs to join in with the group. Though Margaret didn’t get to finish her sentence, you knew what the rest of it was going to be and you knew the answer to it. You knew what Jake looked like without pants on. He looked good. Better than any of them could imagine.
But you sat in silence, holding your tongue and pretending not to be interested in any of the men back there, but especially Jake.
It took all you had not to gush over them and spill your secrets to the rest of the girls at the table. Part of you wished you could but the other part of you felt satisfied knowing you had what they wanted, regardless if anyone knew about it or not.
Eventually, the conversation transitioned onto something other than the men, which you were thankful for, and the afternoon carried on.
However it wasn’t long until the sound of Jake’s voice along with a thud of an ax hitting the ground broke through the air, causing your head to whip back around.
“Jesus! Fuck!” he called out as a pool of blood gushed out of his left hand, covered his palm, and dripped along his fingers.
The older women at the table gave him looks of disgust because of his language and continued on with their lunch, not paying him an ounce of attention- not even caring that he’d been hurt.
At the sight of him in pain, you felt your heart drop. You sat up in your chair for a better look. It took everything in you not to get up and run over to him to see if he was alright. You had to remind yourself to stay where you were and keep your thoughts in your head so as to not give yourself away.
Splatters of burgundy littered Jake’s shirt and he pressed a piece of blood soaked fabric tight over his palm.
As your father and Jake approached the back porch, you redirected your attention to your meal and tried your best not to look at Jake.
Your father snapped his fingers at Katherine and she stood up to speak to him. Katherine was a war nurse before becoming your lady’s maid. She knew everything from cleaning and healing wounds to getting blood out of clothing. If anyone could help in this situation, it was her.
He spoke quietly to her and before you knew it, she had gone into your house with Jake following behind her.
After excusing yourself from lunch, you entered your house to find Katherine in the first floor bathroom pulling a small first aid tin out of a vanity cabinet while Jake sat on the edge of the tub with his eyes on his hand.
You cleared your throat and Jake looked up at you and smiled.
“I’ll be done in just a moment, He needs-” Katherine began, not bothering to look up at you in the doorway.
“I can help him,” you said quietly, interrupting her.
At the familiar sound of your voice, she turned around from what she was doing to meet your eyes and smiled.
Quickly, she ran over to you and pulled you into the bathroom.
“Oh Miss, the sight of blood made you a bit nauseous, didn’t it?” she spoke loudly out the bathroom door, letting her voice carry down the hallway and towards the kitchen, “Please, head upstairs to get some rest,” she said, peering out into the hall to check for anyone listening or watching.
She flashed you both a smile of satisfaction before closing the bathroom door and leaving the two of you alone in your house for the first time ever.
Jake shook his head and let out a laugh through his nose, ‘That’s Katherine, isn’t it?” he asked.
Nodding wordlessly at him, you approached the spot Katherine was once standing in and opened the first aid kit.
“You know what you’re doin’, Darlin’?” he asked cautiously.
“Mhm,” you said as you placed the kit down on the edge of the sink and grabbed it as it began teetering off the edge.
Jake placed his right hand on top of yours. There was dried blood from his other hand on the top of it as well as in the beds of fingernails.
“My house ain’t more than a mile away. If you want to head there with me to do this properly,” he suggested.
His idea was probably best. You didn’t have any chairs to sit at or a table to work on in the bathroom and you couldn’t go to any other part of your house to do this without getting caught. Besides, extra alone time with Jake away from your house didn’t sound too bad either.
You made sure his hand was wrapped up to slow the bleeding and snuck him out the front door with ease.
He led you through a wooded area towards his home and within minutes, you approached a clearing in the woods with a small log cabin in the middle of it. It couldn’t have been more than two rooms wide. It had a brick chimney and a few steps which lead to a covered porch where you spotted a dark brown dog laying down by the door.
“It’s not much, but it's home,” he said smiling as you stood in front of the steps.
The dog sat up and barked at the sight of Jake.
You stayed put in fear as Jake knelt down on his knees to pet it.
“Hey girl,” he said softly to her as he rubbed her head with his good hand.
“This is Rose,” he explained, “She’s my brother Sammy’s. She’s sweet, she ain’t gonna hurtcha,’” he assured you.
You walked up the steps hesitantly and extended a hand to her as you stood behind Jake. She sniffed it a bit before licking it gently. You laughed as her tongue tickled your skin.
“You like my lady, Rose?” he said softly to her as if she would answer back.
He smiled at you, “I think she likes you,” he said before looking back down at her, “Well Rose, you’re a good judge of character,” he said as he gave her a final pat and stood up again.
He opened the front door and led the way inside to the tiny cabin.
Inside there was a wooden dining table with two chairs, two beds covered with quilted blankets, and fireplace with logs set next to it.
Jake was right. It wasn’t much. But despite it not being much, it was everything at the same time. It was warm and inviting unlike your house which was stiff, cold, and uncomfortable.
You sat down at a wooden table across from him and placed the kit down as he held out his wounded hand to you.
Slowly, you unwrapped the blood soaked fabric and he winced as you peeled it off his hand to reveal a deep slice in his palm that went from the bottom of his thumb up to his pinky finger. The bleeding had stopped for the most part but you could still see fresh blood as well as dirt and clumps of dried blood in and around the wound.
After getting a good look at it, you dug into the kit, pulling out a few bottles of solutions, scissors, and bandages.
Jake watched you as you read the labels on each bottle and set the correct ones aside.
You picked up a bottle of antiseptic and poured some out onto a clean cloth.
“It’s going to sting, okay?” you warned him as you brought the damp cloth closer to his hand.
He closed his eyes tight and nodded in anticipation.
With your free hand, you gently ran your fingertips up and down his forearm to calm him before pressing down on his wound with the wet cloth.
He hissed as the solution soaked deep into his raw, broken skin.
“Sorry,” you whispered as he breathed hard and bit down on his bottom lip.
You released the cloth from his wound and blew cool air onto it, watching his face relax and his eyes open once more as the pain faded.
After gently but thoroughly cleaning his cut, you cleaned the excess blood off his hands, applied a healing ointment and bandaged him up properly.
“How’d you learn how to do all that?” he asked as you carefully secured the bandage.
“Katherine was a war nurse. She used to tell stories of how she helped wounded soldiers. And anytime I’d gotten hurt as a child, she helped me. So I suppose I learned from her,” you explained.
And for the first time ever, you felt accomplished. You felt like you were worth something- like you could do things that mattered. You weren’t just a trophy for a man to have on his arm at parties. In that moment, you realized there was a lot that you knew how to do and it was because of Jake that you were able to do all these things. Because of him you could ride a horse, swim, throw a baseball, fish, and play card games. All things you’d never been able to do before. You felt good about yourself for the first time in a long time.
You replayed the times you spent together in your head before asking him the question you’ve always wanted to ask.
“Now,” you began, running your hands over the bandage on his hand gently, “I’ve told you all about me and my life. I want to hear about yours.”
Jake sighed. He had avoided talking about himself for as long as you’ve known him, only sharing a few tidbits here and there.
“Tell me,” you began, looking around the house and spotting two of everything, "It’s just you and Sammy?”
“Mhm, just me and Sammy,”
“And your parents? Certainly you have parents. You’ve told me about your mother a bit,” you said, prompting him to add to the conversation. After all, you’d only heard about his mother briefly.
He nodded, “I had a momma and a daddy. When I was little we had this house on a big plain in Texas,” he smiled to himself before his expression faded and he paused.
He looked down for a few seconds, took a deep breath, and continued, “But, when I was ten, there, uh, there was a fire. The whole house- up in flames. We got out of it, me and Sammy. We were the only ones. Lost my brother Joshua and my sister Veronica too,” he shook his head, “Last thing I heard was my momma callin’ out for ‘em. And, then the roof fell. I remember standin’ there with Sammy, watchin’ it burn,” he spoke softly with his eyes fixated on the fire burning in the fireplace just a few feet from him.
He closed his eyes and blinked a few times, moving his gaze back down to the table in front of him.
“Sammy cried. But I didn’t. I wanted to, but I couldn’t. I had to be strong for him. Sammy hardly remembers ‘em now he says. I guess he’s lucky in that way. I remember it all like it was yesterday.”
His voice cracked just a little as he spoke and he fought back tears before regaining his composure and continuing.
“But when it was over, and there was nothin’ left, we walked. I walked with Sam all the way from Texas to Tennessee, beggin’ for money and food along the way, hearin’ people talk about a city called Nashville. So we headed for it. Took a while. The winters were brutal and the summers were like a kiss from the Devil himself. But eventually, I got a little older, stopped begging and started picking up jobs, workin’ here and there to get a little money. Lived in Louisiana for a little, then eventually moved up to Mississippi, and then we ended up here. Learned how to tend land, take care of cattle, ya know- farm stuff. Sam would play with the rich school kids while I was workin’. They taught him how to read and write- Sammy’s smart. He’s good at buildin’ too- helped me build this here house we’re sittin’ in right now and he's helping me build that fence on your daddy's farm. Don’t know what I would’ve done if I didn’t have him. He’s the only family I got. Ya know, you say you hate your family, but, you don’t know just how good you have it.”
It was silent for a minute. Jake kept his head down. You could tell he was thinking deeply.
“Jake, I’m sorry,” you whispered, reaching a hand out to cup his face. You didn’t know what else to say. There really was nothing you could say. You felt guilty. He had lived a hard life while you were given everything and still you were unappreciative. And even though there was pain deep in his heart, he was still the kindest, most loving person you’d ever met.
“S’alright,” he whispered, “Got ‘em in here,” he said as he placed his good hand on top of his chest, where his heart was.
He stood up, leaving you at the table as he walked over to his bed.
He pulled off his blood stained shirt and put on a clean one.
“But your parents,” he began as he threw his dirty shirt in a tin bucket, “They set you up to marry somebody and you don’t even like ‘em? Is that how they met too?”
“Unfortunately, yes. That’s how the world works, Jake,” you said as you began cleaning up the first aid kit and bloody fabric.
Now in a fresh shirt, he walked over to you and placed the bucket on the table and his good hand on the arm of the chair you were in, leaning forward and closing you in between him and the table.
“That’s not how the world works,” he said, raising his eyebrows at you.
“Alright then, how does the world work?” you asked, looking up at him like you were presenting him with a challenge.
“Well,” he began, “I don't know much about the whole world, but in my world, you meet somebody on your own, get to know ‘em a little, and then without realizing it, you come to find yourself…” his voice trailed off and picked up in a whisper, “falling in love with ‘em.”
He swallowed hard and you did the same. His eyes darted all over your face as he breathed softly through parted lips.
You both knew how you felt. It was just as Jake said. You were falling in love with one another. Better yet, already had fallen in love with each other.
“You ever been in love before, Jacob?” you asked in a voice barely above a whisper.
Jake opened his mouth to speak but the sudden sounds of Rosie barking outside and the opening of the front door made both your heads turn quickly to see the tall, skinny man with the braids standing in the doorway, looking surprised.
Sammy.
Quickly, you both stood up and you picked up the tin bucket to hand it to Jake.
“Just, um, let it soak in cold water for a day or two and then wash it well with soap,” you instructed him, trying to cover up how flustered you were feeling.
“I will,” Jake replied shyly before introducing you to Sammy who seemed to know exactly who you were.
Sammy was sweet as could be and a lot less serious than Jake. He had the same subtle twang in his voice as Jake but his voice was a little louder, and sounded just a bit more youthful too, playful even. But just like Jake, he was a gentleman.
They exchanged looks and Sammy quickly saw himself out the front door to give the two of you privacy.
“I suppose I better head home,” you said quietly once Sammy closed the door behind him.
“You know your way back? I would take you but I don’t want to cause you any trouble,” Jake replied, remembering what happened the last time he took you home.
Replying with a smile and a nod, you lifted your chin to kiss him.
He placed his lips on yours and gave you a gentle kiss. There was something about this kiss that was different from all the others. It was softer and sweeter than ever. It was almost as if it had love laced in it.
“Goodnight, Darlin.’ I’ll see ya tomorrow,” Jake whispered as he kissed the top of your head and opened the front door for you.
As you walked down the steps of the front porch, the sound of Sam’s sweet voice caught your attention.
You turned to see him sitting in a wooden rocking chair with Rosie at his feet.
“Take Rose with ya. She’ll keep you safe and she knows her way back,” he said as he lit up a pipe with a match.
You looked back at Jake who was leaning on the doorframe, smiling softly and nodding approvingly.
Sam lifted his chin to Rose and said “Get!”
Instantly, she got up and trotted down the stairs before you.
As the sun set, you walked home with Rose by your side. When you arrived back at your house, you gave her a kiss on the top of her head and sent her away and back home to Jake.
Author's Note: Again, sorry for the delay! I hope you enjoyed it and that little taste of cowboy Sammy! The next (and last) chapter will come sooner rather than later!

Dueling Cameras

Oh Klahoma - Jack Stauber " Go on and hand me your clothes, Take a picture or two, I can see you"
“Come on Willa,” Sam yelled from across the house.
“I’m grabbing my shoes and I’ll be ready!” I responded.
As I come to the front of the house I find Sam squatting down to put Penelope's leash on. Those two are always inseparable.
“Y’ready?” He says when he notices me watching them.
“Absolutely, let's go.” I say as I give him a quick kiss.
As we ride to the fair, I look out the window while Sam sings along to what’s playing over the speakers.
“Workin’ on our night moves.
Tryin’ to make some front page drive-in news.”
I look over to him sitting in the driver's seat. “Still stuck in your head?”
“I’ve spent too many nights helping Jake close the bar,” Sam says with a laugh.
We drive the rest of the way that’s only broken when Penelope starts to whine. When we finally park, Sam is quick to get to Penny and let her out the back door. I get out and start to close the door when I notice Sam’s camera bag sitting on the back seat. Knowing he was too focused on Miss P and will probably be upset when he notices he's left it behind, I grab it.
Sam’s a little bit ahead of me when I finally do catch up to them. Before catching up completely, I pull out his camera and take a quick photo of them from behind. He’s always been attractive to me, but it wasn’t until a year or so ago until I finally admitted it to myself.
Click.
It isn’t long until the three of us step foot inside the state fair. I take the lead and start heading left, straight to the pumpkin patch.
“You really want to carry around pumpkins for the rest of the day?” Sam asks, giving me a questioning look.
“Well, if we wait until later all of the good ones will be gone.” I said matter of factly.
A hearty chuckle comes from Sam as he throws his arm over your shoulder. “Whatever you want, my little bird.”
We walk like this until we reach the patch full of yellows, oranges and whites. Penelope's quick to pull us towards a cluster of decent looking pumpkins.
“Good work, Penny-girl.” I say, leaning down to pat her between the ears.
Click.
Hearing that soft click, I’m a little surprised. I thought I had Sam’s camera. Turning to look at him, I see a shit eating grin spread across his face.
“New toy.” Is all he says while holding up a small film camera.
“I should’ve known.” I reply while playfully rolling my eyes.
“Yes, you should’ve.” Sam presses a kiss to my cheek. “Always gotta document my girls.”
My heart always does a little flip when he calls us that. His girls. I run ahead and whip out the other camera.
Click.
A bewildered look crosses Sam’s face while Penelope just watches, her tail whipping the air.
“Fancy a game of dueling cameras?” I say in my best posh accent.
I’m rewarded with a deep belly laugh from Sam that liquifies my insides. My favorite sound, I can’t help but think.
“Game on.”
I take off running father into the patch, Penelope's barks trailing behind me. Sam’s laughing out loud, and I can’t help but laugh along with him. One of my favorite things about this man is how free he lets me be. Never once has he tried to clip my wings, he’s only interested in helping me fly.
Throwing my arms up in the air I stop where I am and spin, laughter is tumbling out of me in waves.
Click. Click.
Sam lets go of the leash and she’s quick to join me, her happy barks filling the air.
Looking back at Sam, I realize he isn’t standing in the same place anymore. The pumpkin patch is steadily getting busier, and I can’t spot him as I glance around.
Suddenly, arms are on either side of me and my feet are whisked off the ground, I can’t stop myself as I scream upon take off.
“Got you,” Sam says in my ear.
“Unfair!” I say as he puts me down. I cross my arms across my chest and give him a fake pout. “You came outta nowhere.”
“Always gotta keep you on your toes.”  A quick kiss is pressed on the tip of my nose. “Now, let’s get what we came for. Those roasted seeds are calling my name.” He’s quick to grab the leash as we finally settle on an area of pumpkins to choose from.
“How about this one?” Sam holds up a classic orange pumpkin that’s perfectly round.
Click.
“If that’s your choice. This one’s mine, I think.” I take my turn to hold up a yellow pumpkin that’s more oval-like. “I have a great idea for the face I wanna put on this bad boy!”
“I think I need to reevaluate my choice,” Sam says with a laugh. “How about this one instead?” Similar to my yellow oddball, he’s found one of similar shape but in orange.
“Oh, Samuel. That’s a fine specimen indeed.”
A bark cute through the air, we both look to find Penelope sniffing a smaller white pumpkin.
Click.
“It seems as though Penny-girl has chosen her pumpkin, too.” I say.
We make quick work of purchasing our small family of pumpkins. , excited to get them back home. I have Penelope's leash in hand as we walk back through the fair. Admiring the rides and all the bright lights that are seemingly getting brighter as the sun goes down.
“Willa,”
With a smile, I turn my head quickly at the sound of Sam’s soft voice cutting through the noise. He’s only a few paces behind me with his camera up to his face.
Click.
“What do I get for winning this round?”, Sam says in a cheeky little tone, a smile plastered across his face as he catches up to us.
“Mmm.. I have an idea”, deciding to play along, I hit him with a little wink. I motion for him to lean down, planting a kiss on his lips, holding him there for an extra beat. Maybe two beats.
“Well”, he starts, “let’s get you home then, shall we?” Grabbing my hand and taking off to the car, moving a bit quicker than before. Rose and I trailing behind him as we approach the car. Letting her into the backseat before I get in, Sam’s already starting the car.
As soon as I slide into my seat, he throws the car in drive. His right hand immediately intertwined with mine, resting on my leg. The sight makes my heart swell, until I look over at him in the last minutes of daylight. His hair is a little disheveled from the wind and the brisk walk, but the soft smile resting on his face as he focuses on the road was really the prize for me.

I’m Yours (A FM!Realm short)
Tumblr media
a/n~ This has been so long in the making y’all. And I’m so excited to share it!
Sam was acting weird.
Sophia couldn’t deny his jumpy nature when she called out to him, still laying in bed as he shuffled through one of his drawers. His body tensed and he stood to his full height, stuffing his hands into his pockets and turned on his heel. He sauntered over to the bed and bent at the waist, pressing soft kisses to Sophia’s lips.
“Don’t worry about helping us get the jam and honey into the truck, I think we have it under control. I laid out your favorite flannel of like with your jeans in the bathroom. Go shower we’ve have it under control.” Sophia quirked a brow and pushed herself into a seated position, holding her hands out to slide into his before she swung her legs over the side of the bed and stood.
“You’ve got it all under control huh? Even the little ribbons on the jam jars I usually curl with the scissors?” She cooed, wrapping one arm around his neck and cupped the other securely around his cheek. He nuzzled his face into her palm, mixed with that of a reassuring nod.
“All under control, go get ready, we’ll meet you in the truck.” Sophia giggled at the way he was acting and pressed up onto her toes, capturing his lips softly with hers before pulling away and slowly making her way to the bathroom. Sam swatted her ass as she walked by, a love tap she was so used to it didn’t even phase her anymore and she blew a kiss over her shoulder as she closed the bathroom door.
Sams nerves were shot as he slowly made his way to the kitchen and sidled up next to Danny, watching as he slowly tied the ring Sam had chosen to the jar of peach jam. Danny glanced up at Sam and shot him a sideways smile, reaching up to slip the sharpie out from behind his ear and placed it into Sam’s waiting palm.
“You’re still a mother fucker, I can’t believe you didn’t tell me sooner. Are you sure this is how you want to do it?” Danny mumbled, loading up the four jars of jam into the basket before sliding it in front of Sam. A deep, chest heaving breath was pulled in through Sam’s nose and he nodded. Bending at the waist he quickly scribbled the words across the lids of the jars, in the very same manner he had given Sophia his phone number.
“I couldn’t tell you what was going on, your ability to keep secrets is very weak. I never would have forgiven you if you had spilled the beans.” Sam chuckled sheepishly and turned to face Danny. Reaching up he clapped a reassuring hand Danny’s shoulder.
“Sure, so let me do all of this work making sure the jams were perfect and placed perfectly in your stupid little basket, make me go to the market early to make sure the tent was perfect and set up half of my honey and half of your jam alone while you laid in bed probably getting jiggy with Fia. And then you waltz into the bathroom as I’m taking a piss and say oh by the way I’m proposing to my girlfriend I need your help? You fucking fucker.” Sam couldn’t help the boisterous laugh that escaped his chest and he reached out, wrapping his arms around Danny and pulled him into a bear hug.
“You’re right, you do deserve a thank you. Now just keep your damn lips zipped!” Sam nodded, punctuating the end of his sentence.
“How do you think it’ll go?” Danny asked, watching as Sam placed a hand towel over top of the basket and pushed it back in Danny’s direction. He shrugged his shoulders and turned his attention to his best friend.
“I mean… it would be ideal if she said yes, now wouldn’t it?” A nervous giggle slipped past Sam’s lips as he reached up and clapped a hand down on Danny’s shoulder. He nodded in the direction of the door, a silent command for Danny to load the basket of jam into the bed of the truck. He followed Danny outside, watching as he carefully placed the basket into the truck bed and slammed the hitch shut.
“Ideal, yes. How do you think she’s going to react though? It’s probably the last thing she’d ever expect.” Danny chuckled, clapping a hand down on Sam’s shoulder. He shrugged his shoulders, racking his brain  for any inkling of a mention of marriage coming from Sophia. He shook his head solemnly and met Danny’s gaze.
“I just hope she doesn’t drop the basket.” Sam chuckled and reached up to rub a hand over the back of his neck, thinking of just how easy the jars shatter. Danny shook his head at the thought of her reading those four little words and losing control of her hands, sending the basket careening down to the ground.
“Whatcha talking about?” Sophia’s voice shook the boys out of their bubble of solitude and Sam’s eyes grew wide. Turning on his heel he reached out and wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
“Just discussing where we’re going to stop for coffee this morning.” He mumbled and shot Danny a look that spoke for itself.
~*~*~
“Y’know, the cake pop was a nice touch.” Sophia giggled as she pulled a pink cake pop out of the pastry bag and bit into it, revealing a pink colored sponge cake inside it. A soft smile caressed Sam’s lips and he leaned forward slightly, pressing a quick peck to her cheek.
“Just a little sweet treat for my sweets.” He chuckled and turned his attention to Danny who had begun taking the crates of his honey out of the back of the pickup truck. Without skipping a beat Sam reached over and ruffled Sophia’s hair, earning himself an annoyed whine.
“Come help us when you’re done, please.” Sam said and shot her a smile before turning on his heel and naked his way over to the back of the pickup truck.
Sams gaze found Danny’s as they slowly began to sort through the crates that had all shifted during their drive. An encouraging smile spread across Danny’s face and he clapped a hand down on Sam’s shoulder, giving it a tight squeeze as they had a silent conversation. Sophia watched on as she finished her cake pop and tied both dogs leashes to the tree near by - their favorite place to hang on market days.
“I know you two are secret lovers but do you have to be so public about it?” Sophia called, giggling maniacally as she slowly made her way over to the boys. Danny’s eyes grew wide and a grin tugged at the corners of his lips before he leaned forward and pressed a kiss to Sam’s cheek, laughing maniacally all the while.
“Daniel!” Sophia feigned shock, clapping a hand to her chest before leaning forward and pulled a basket of jam in her direction. Sam’s eyes grew wide as he recognized his hand writing on the lids, she wasn’t meant to grab that basket just yet.
“Wait! Can you, um… can you set Danny’s honey first? I think he has the bigger batch this week.” A nervous chuckle slipped past Sam’s lips as he watched Sophia began to bow her head to look at the basket in her hands. In a moment of swift thinking Sam reached out and cupped her chin in his palm before leaning forward and pressing a kiss to her lips all while Danny snatched the basket she held out of her hands. He was quick to push the basket towards the back of the truck bed and pulled forward enough to fill the table, leaving the target basket for last. With a soft tap to Sam’s side he pulled back from Sophia and rested his forehead against hers, trying to catch his breath.
“What was that for?” She giggled, rubbing her nose gently against his.
“I can’t kiss the love of my life just because I love her?” He cooed, his tone dripping in a sugary sweetness that she couldn’t resist. Sophia cocked a brow and shook her head starting to get the feeling that Sam was up to something.
“Oh of course you can, I just find it odd you would pick now to start doing such.” She giggled and pulled away from Sam, making her way back over to the trucks flatbed. She took notice of how the initial basket she had picked up was now pushed towards the back and others took up the space it once occupied. With a soft shrug of her shoulders she made quick work of setting up the table.
“You’re sure this is how you want to go about this? I can swipe that crate before she even realizes it’s gone.” Danny had cold feet for the couple, still questioning if this plan was going to work. Sam shook his head and took a step forward as Sophia pulled the last normal crate off of the truck bed. Swallowing hard he space his feet ever so slightly apart and waited with bated breath as she pulled the last crate forward.
“Sammy, baby why is there only one crate of Peach this week? You know it’s your best seller.” Sophia called, glancing over her shoulder as she shifted the crate off of the flatbed and rested it gently against her waist.
Sam slowly lowered himself down onto his knee as watched as she came to a halt, turning her gaze down to the crate she was cradling against her waist. Thinking quickly on his feet Danny ran forward and placed his hands on the sides of the crate, securing it as Sophia’s grip loosened and she pulled her hands up to her face.
“Sammy?” Her voice cracked and tears welled in her eyes as they landed on the silver band that hung gently from a piece of twine around one of the jam jars. Sam swallowed hard and pushed up into his feet, slowly making his way over to where she was standing.
“From the first day I laid eyes on you I just… knew. I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you. To be the one to help you through all the lows, celebrate all the highs. To do it all together. Fia bia, will you marry me?” He couldn’t help the nervous giggles that slipped past his lips as Danny handed him the ring, finally freeing it from its home on the jam jar.
Sam dropped back down on one knee, presenting Sophia the ring. Her eyes danced between the ring and Sam’s big brown eyes, watching as they welled with tears. Danny took a step forward, waiting on bated breath as Sophia’s eyes found his and a reassuring smile tugged on the corners of his lips.
Her knees gave and she careened down in front of Sam, her hands covering her mouth as she nodded her head quickly. He couldn’t help the smile that spread across his face and he held out his hand for hers, gently sliding the ring onto her finger. She giggled softly as the stone pulled the ring around her finger, facing her palm.
“We’ll get it sized, it’s okay.” Her giggles continued as she fixed the ring and took a moment to admire it before tackling Sam to the ground. The dogs began barking wildly, drawing unwanted attention to the table and Danny quickly made his way over to them, giving them a treat to quiet their barks.
“Thank you for making me the happiest man ever.” Sam chuckled, pushing himself into a seated position and shifted her body so she was sitting across his lap.
“Thank you for…everything. You are something else, aren’t you, Samuel?” She mumbled, keeping her face hidden in the crook of his neck. He shook his head lightly and turned to press a soft kiss to the side of her head.
“Danny can handle this today, let’s get out of here.” He mumbled softly and wrapped his arms around her, maneuvering so he was able to push himself into a standing position. Nodding in Danny’s direction he took off in the direction of the pick up truck, making a mental note to come back for Danny and the pups later.

Kiss the Sun (chapter one)
Pairing: Sam Kiszka x Danny’s Cousin!OC(Grace) Warnings: Underaged drinking (let me know if I missed anything)
(Italicized text indicates a flashback)
Summary: Grace and Josie's plane ride is uneventful as Josie naps but Grace's thoughts remain fixated on Sam, reflecting on their lives back in Frankenmuth.
The plane ride was dull, to say the least. Grace and Josie had barely spoken as Josie opted for a nap that lasted the entire plane ride while Grace stuck to the movie she’d rented.
She’d barely paid attention to the movie as the sound of it lulled through her headphones. All she thought of was Sam, Sam and his stupid self.
“You can’t do that! It’s illegal!”
“Who says?! Huh?!”
“According to the rules listed,” Jake pulled out the piece of paper, dramatically pointing to the rules, “You can not stack +2s on top of each other!”
“Bullshit!” Sam yelled as he stood up and slammed his cards on the table. “We’ve played like this since we were kids! You only say no because you’re winning unless I make you draw more!”
“I’ve always played like this!” Jake now stood as if the two would challenge each other to a duel at any moment.
Josh simply laughed as he passed his brothers, who were undoubtedly drunk as the rest of the party raged around them.
What started as a bonfire at the old Heeley Farm thrown by one of their friends had become a party in the barn as the fire had died out. Josh had grabbed another beer for himself and Jake but decided against it when he saw that Jake was clearly too drunk for another. He’d lost track of Danny about an hour ago but assumed Grace was worrying about him.
Looking back at the remnants of the large bonfire that was now more the size of a campfire, Josh saw two figures, one laying on the log bench and the other sitting with their head in their hands. Josh sighed as he made his way over to the smoldering fire, two beers in hand.
He saw Danny passed out on the log bench and Grace, who looked up from her hands and stared into the flames of the fire as she seemed to wonder if it could show her the future or possibly solve all her problems with a simple question. Josh plopped himself ungracefully next to her but she paid him little attention. He passed her the extra beer before taking a swig of his own. “What’s on your beautifully intricate mind, Gracie?” She mumbled, bringing the bottle of beer to her lips.
“Nothing, really. It’s stupid.” She mumbled, bringing the bottle of beer to her lips.
“Well Daniel’s out like a light, you’re secrets are safe with me.” Josh said, wrapping his arm around Grace’s shoulders.
“Yeah right, anything I tell you goes straight to Jake. You might be a lock box but Jake is a blabbermouth.” She laughed, leaning her head onto Josh’s shoulder.
“Hey! I don’t tell Jake everything!” He feigned offense as he took another glug of beer before silence fell between them. “How about this, because I can tell whatever it is is eating you alive, you tell me your secret and in exchange, I’ll tell you a secret.”
Grace gasped, “The great Josh Kiszka has secrets! I thought you didn’t have anything hidden!”
“Okay, okay, but I am not a completely open book as many would believe.” Josh took another sip, “So… go on. A secret for a secret.”
Grace looked behind them, making sure no one was around, as well as a very long glare at Danny to make sure he was, in fact, sleeping. “Fine, it’s Sam.”
Josh instantly tensed up, “What did he do?”
“Nothing, exactly.” She started, “It’s just that for like years, I’ve had this stupid crush on him and he has yet to notice. I guess I just… I don’t know, it’s stupid. It wouldn’t work, it can’t work. It’d put the band in jeopardy. If we broke up and it was nasty, Danny would be torn the band would be over, their friendship would be over.”
There was a beat of silence as they both sat there, staring at the flames. “Damn, that is a lot, but I totally called that.”
Josh started laughing, Grace instantly felt confused and offended, “Called it?!”
“Well, yeah!” He said, still laughing, “Jake and I called that you two liked each other years ago.”
“Well just because you “called it” with Jake doesn’t mean you can go and tell him!” Grace said, shrugging off his arm.
“Hey! I promised, didn’t I?” He held his hands up in surrender as Grace scoffed before moving back next to him.
After Grace took a few more chugs of her beer she looked up at Josh, “Well, Mr. Wonderful? What’s your darkest secret?”
“You know I am quite wonderful.” He lolled his head to the side. “But a promise is a promise, I like guys.”
Grace was mid-sip when she heard the words and she choked, not expecting them. “Josh! What the hell?!”
“What? You said “deepest secret!” What did you expect?!”
“Not that!”
“You can’t tell anybody!” Josh seemed immediately defensive.
“What? Of course, I won’t tell anybody!” Grace said quickly. “So… what does this mean? Are you like…”
“I don’t know! There’s too many logistics that go into all that. I like A guy. That’s the only label I’ll put on it.”
“Fair enough.”
There was another beat of silence, “When I say you can’t tell anyone I mean you can’t tell anyone.” Josh emphasized the last word.
“Well, you’ve told your family right?” Grace asked cautiously. Josh kept silent. “You’ve told Jake, at least, right? You tell Jake everything.”
“Listen it’s a very recent development and with the town we live in-”
“You told me before you told Jake?!” Grace seemed shocked beyond belief, although the alcohol was not helping her to keep calm.
“Shhhhh!” He let out quickly while putting his hand over her mouth. “You’re literally the only one that knows.”
“You have to tell Jake at least!” Grace whisper yelled, “I can keep a secret but it’s gonna eat you alive to not tell him.” They both knew she was right and Josh nodded.
“I’ll tell him, I’m just… nervous.” He mumbled, looking down at his hands.
“Josh. He’s your brother, he’s literally your other half, he’s going to be nothing but supportive.”
“I know, I swear, I’ll tell him tomorrow when we’re both sober.” He said straightly, a smirk growing on his face, “But you have to tell Sam about your crush.”
“No! You know Jake will support and love you no matter what! Your whole family will! Sam? I’m not ready for that rejection!” She laughed as they both stood, silently considering their options on how to get Danny home in his comatose state.
She smiled at the memory of Josh as the movie played and she couldn’t help but think about Sam and how much she dreaded getting off the plane.
But that moment had come, the plane had landed, they’d walked to baggage claim and collected their bags, and they’d exited the airport to see Danny waiting for them with a car. Josie excitedly ran up, jumping to hug her brother as he opened his arms, her suitcase long forgotten.
Grace laughed and shook her head as she approached. Danny laughed as he and Josie squeezed each other tightly, “Oh my god! I missed you!” Josie said excitedly before Danny put her back on the ground.
Danny looked at Grace, “Well you don’t have to look like you don’t want to see me.” He jested as Grace smiled and moved forward, getting wrapped in a hug by her tall cousin.
“It was a long flight.” Grace reasoned as she pulled back.
“Ah, that jet lag will kill you.” He joked as he moved to help the girls with their bags, throwing them in the back of the car.
The car ride to the boys' house wasn’t long but it felt like an eternity as Grace dreaded seeing Sam once again.

A Dangerous Duo (everyone)
Tumblr media
Summary: Sam and Josh try drag.
Pairings: Danny Wagner x Sam Kiszka, Josh Kiszka x Male O.C., Jake Kiszka x Male O.C.
Genre: no clue, too long to be drabble but there’s no smut or angst or anything. Just a fun little fic about our boys trying drag for the first time.
Word Count: 6.2 k
Warnings: language? But what’s new with them
A/N: I would highly recommend reading Save a Horse and Ride a Cowboy as well as their previous fics, as this is a continuation of their stories within this Universe. I love Sebastian with all my heart, Sirena is an amazing drag mother to Josh and Sam.
“Yeah, just right there is fine. Thanks, Daniel.” Sam smiles as Danny sets his bags down where he had directed him to.
Austin follows close behind, setting Josh’s bags near Sams.
“Sure we can’t do anythin’ else to help, darlin’?”
“Nope, that’s it. Thanks, love.” Josh presses a quick kiss to his cheek as he passes him, setting the rest of his bags down.
“Jesus Christ Josh, how much shit do you have? You have at least twice as many bags as I do.”
Josh rolls his eyes at his youngest brother, “Go big or go home, Sam. In my defense, my second wig is fucking massive, takes an entire bag up.”
“I still can’t believe you guys won’t tell us anything about your routines. Please can we just have one piece of information like what songs you’re doing?”
Sam walks over to his boyfriend and places his hands on the sides of his face, bringing him close to his own with a loving look, teasing him with their proximity. “That would ruin the surprise, Daniel.” Sam drops his hands before turning away so he can’t see the pouty look on Danny’s face that always got him what he wanted.
“I know what you’re doing, Daniel. I’m not caving this time.”
Josh begins shooing the other boys towards the door, slowing making his way towards them so they had no choice but to back out of the room. “Anyways, we need to start getting ready so, and I mean this with all the love I have for you two but, fuck off.”
Danny turns towards Austin, shaking his head in mock hurt. “See how they just throw us to the curb once they got their use out of us?”
Austin laughs, joining in on the bit. “Knew he was just keepin’ me around for my muscles. I’ll reckon this was their plan all along.”
“Yep, you caught us.” Sam chimes in, bent over his bags as he searched through their contents for his makeup bag.
“Mhm, that was our whole devious plan all along.” Josh begins closing the door, shouting a final, “Kay see you later, love you, bye.” before closing the door in their faces.
Danny scoffs, loud enough for them to hear on the other side of the door, before dropping the act and turning as he and Austin begin walking down the hall. They bump into Sebastian and Jake, also carrying bags as they make their way towards the room Sam and Josh were occupying.
Danny practically jumps them, “Jake! Sebastian! Oh my god please just tell us SOMETHING about Josh and Sam’s routines. They won’t say anything and I know you know something about them. They keep making these little inside jokes with mischievous smiles and I am fucking dying to know why.”
Jake throws his hands up in defense. “Hey don’t look at me, Seb won’t tell me anything either.”
Sebastian motions as if he was zipping and locking his lips, throwing away the key with a secretive smile on his face. “I ain’t sayin’ nothin’, kid. All I’ll say is I hope you brought a shit tonna ones.” He winks at Jake, “Maybe even some fives and tens if you’re feelin’ generous.”
Danny groans in frustration, all hope of finding out his boyfriend and brothers plans leaving him.
Austin offers him a pat on the back, as if he were consoling him. “It’s alright, Dan. We’ll find out soon enough.”
“Easy for you to say. Josh may be a shit head but he’s sweet at heart so it balances out. Sam’s just a shit head, I don’t trust that fucker. When I asked about his songs he just giggled, and he never giggles so I know he’s up to something.” He looks towards Jake, whose eyebrows were raised at his comment. “You know I say that with all the love in my heart for him.”
A grin breaks onto his face, and Danny silently curses Josh for getting his twin to do theater in high school with him. “Yeah I know, Sam’s a shit head. I was just fucking with you.” Sebastian and him start to make their way past the other two boys. “Anyways, I’m gonna help Seb drop these bags at the room, wait up for me?”
“Of course.”
“Try and peek into the room if you can, they just started getting ready but I bet you could spot some clues.” Danny calls after them.
“Uh, uh. No way, mon beau. I got the bags from here, thank you for your help. Go join them, love. I gotta go help my daughters get ready.”
Jake pouts up at his boyfriend, attempting to sway him as he was also curious about what his brothers had in store for the show. Sebastian looks at him with a slight smile, unwavering in his statement to not spill their secrets, his hand outstretched and motioning to take the bags. Jake sighs, giving up and handing them to him before giving him a quick kiss.
“See you boys in a few hours. Love you, Jake.”
“Love you too, Seb. Have fun trying not to strangle them.”
Sebastian only laughs as he makes his way down the hall, already hearing the lively bickering of the brothers behind the door.
The three men turn, weaving through the maze of the back rooms before finding the entrance to the main venue, still empty as the doors didn’t open for another two hours. They find a table near the back corner, knowing their partners would find them and give them a little extra attention no matter where they sat.
“I’m gonna go get us drinks while we wait. Want anything?” Danny questions, standing and looking at the others questioningly.
“The usual’s fine with me, Dan. Thank you.”
“Same for me, thanks.”
“You got it. Be right back.”
--------------------------------------------------------
“I swear to god Joshua I’m going to vomit.” Sam screeches, his voice filling the small room.
“I told you I had colored contacts, Sam. If you don’t wanna see it then just look away while I put them in.” Josh retorts as he brings his hands back up to his eye, struggling to put his contacts in as Sam squirms beside him.
Sam physically cringes, turning away from his brother as his entire body shivers, groaning in his disgust. “That’s not helping, I can feel you putting them in.”
“Maybe if you would shut the fuck up, I could concentrate and get it done faster, dipshit.”
“Alright ladies, settle down. Can’t have y’all killin’ each other right before your first show.”
Sam focuses on adjusting his first hairdo of the night, trying his best to ignore his brother next to him but finding it increasingly hard as they shared the mirror.
“Got it!” Josh says excitedly, blinking rapidly as his eyes adjusted. “How do I look, Sam?”
He makes eye contact with him through the mirror, the bright red of his eyes an unusual sight. Sam grimaces at the lack of the familiar warm brown of his brothers’ eyes. “Creepy as hell.”
Josh prods him in the ribs, sarcasm dripping from his words. “Yeah, that’s the only reason I chose this color, to creep you out.” He wiggles his fingers at Sam as he inches closer to him.
Sam jumps out of his chair, putting as much space between him and Josh as the small room would allow. “Nope, nope, fuck off.”
Josh laughs, dropping his hands as he stands, beginning to rifle through his belongings in search of his outfit.
Sebastian bends to check his wig in the mirror, already having finished his makeup and getting dressed long before they had. “Alright, finish up. Show starts in 30 and y’all are the first performers of the night.” He makes his way to the door, opening it and stopping at the entryway to offer a final, “See y’all out there.” Before leaving them to get dressed.
“Hey Sam have you seen my-“ Josh’s question is cut short as a soft piece of foam hits the side of his head. He bends to pick the foam bra insert up, “Yeah that.” He fully turns towards Sam, “Do you know where the other one is-“
Once again, Sam chucks the insert at him, this time hitting him square in the face.
“I swear to god I’m gonna shove this so far up your ass-"
--------------------------------------------------------
Danny anxiously checks the time on his phone, relieved to see the show was scheduled to start in a few minutes. He lets out a shaky breath, his leg bouncing as he finds any outlet for his nerves.
Jake notices, gently elbowing him to bring him back to the moment. “Danny, chill. Don’t worry you won’t have to wait much longer to see what my dickhead brothers have planned.”
Just as he finishes his sentence the club lights dim, and a bright spotlight falls on Sirena as she enters the stage from the side. She immediately consumes all of Jakes attention and he sucks a sharp breath in as his eyes wander over his boyfriend. His gaze goes from her tall stiletto boots, up her legs covered by blood red, loose leather pants, continuing to her tight fitting high-collared shirt, a heart shaped hole at the center of her chest to show off her impressively contoured “cleavage”. The light catches on her spiked choker as his eyes continue their journey upwards, he takes in her long locs, the same blood red as her pants. His gaze finally comes to a stop on her black eyes, the colored contacts covering both the iris and whites of them. The crowd cheers as she takes her place, adjusting to the bright light and checking her mic before starting.
“First of all, thank y’all for comin’ out tonight! How y’all feelin’?”
The crowd roars in response as Sirena grins, waiting for them to quiet down before she continues. “Fuckin’ fantastic! That’s what I love to hear! I do got a few things to say before we start tonight. First, consent is fucking sexy! If you don’t want extra attention or interaction from a performer, just throw your arms up into an “X” and they’ll respect that. Consent also goes two ways, so make sure to not touch a performer without them initiatin’ that interaction. The second thing is, tip your mother fuckin’ performers! It’s expensive to look this cheap, y’all. And lastly, tonight is a very special night. I have the pleasure of introducin’ y’all to my first ever drag daughters who’re gonna start us off this evenin’!”
Austin lets loose a shrill wolf whistle as the crowd erupts once more, causing Sirena to shout over them. “So I better see some fuckin’ tips in the air cause they’ve worked hard for this shit! Swear to god I’ve spent more time with them these last two weeks than I have my own boyfriend.” She jokes.
“Without further ado, may I introduce you to Elle Fernanda and Callie Bungah!” She yells, stepping off the stage as the spotlight cuts out.
It quickly reappears joined by soft red lights, fixed on the split curtains at the back of the stage. A too-familiar electronic intro begins and Danny’s jaw drops.
“Oh my fucking god, they didn’t.”
Josh and Sam burst through the middle, perfectly lip syncing to the song as it starts, matching the attitude of it with their stage personas.
“I like the girls that do drugs (Drugs).
Girls with cigarettes in the back of the club (Club).
Girls that hate cops and buy guns (Guns).
Girls with no buns, girls that’s mean just for fun.
I like girls who make love, but I love girls who like to fuck.”
Both Danny and Austin’s jaws drop, blushes falling across their faces as they take in their boyfriends’ appearances. Danny can’t seem to be mad at Sam for his song choice as his eyes roam his body, looking so unlike Sam that Danny’s not sure he would recognize him if Sirena hadn’t announced that it was him. His long, wavy locks are pulled into two space buns, his bangs messy and unruly, purposely left out. His makeup is light, with thin wings of eyeliner, visible blush, and dark painted lips. As Jake had noticed with Sirena, Danny doesn’t miss the way the light catches on his spiked choker, eyes continuing downwards as the boys move on stage. He has a fishnet shirt underneath his high-collared tank top, both tucked into tight black leather pants. Danny almost laughs when his eyes finally find their way to his short black heels, knowing that if they were any taller, he would most defiantly break his ankle. He tears his eyes away from Sam, looking over at Austin to see his reaction to Josh’s outfit, to see the other boy staring, mouth still agape with his eyes fixed intently on Josh.
Austin doesn’t know where to look, his focus constantly shifting from different aspects of Josh’s appearance and outfit as he takes it all in. His curly, brown hair replaced by a jet-black coiled bun with two strands on either side of his face left out as bangs. Austin realizes Josh is only an inch or two shorter than his brother, noticing for the first time his tall, red, sparkly stiletto heels. His eyes travel up his legs clad in fishnet tights, his gaze lingering for a couple seconds on the short hem of his leather skirt. He manages to tear his gaze away, his eyes travelling up his exposed stomach, only covered by a fishnet shirt as his V-line cropped tank top barely covers his chest. Passing over the leather choker around his neck, Austin’s gaze finally settles on his blood red eyes, with thick red eyeliner to match it.
Jake watches his brothers performance as they weave through the crowd, snatching tips out of outstretched hands as they make their way steadily to the corner they occupied. He looks over to Austin and Danny, laughing when he sees them both enthralled by their partners, eyes wide and jaws dropped. “Hey guys, think you have a little drool coming out of your mouth there.”
This comment snaps them out of it, blood rushing to their faces as they scramble for their wallets, seeing their partners drawing nearer to their table by the second. They finally reach their table, making their way towards their respective boyfriends. Sam momentarily ignores the bill in Danny’s hand, instead grabbing his hips and slotting his body in between his knees.
“They say I’m too fuckin’ horny,
Wanna put me in a cage.
I’d probably fuck the hole in the wall
The guy before made.”
Sam thrusts his hips forward, emphasizing the words with each movement of his body. Danny freezes, his face red as his thoughts are consumed by nothing but Sam and his act. Sam smiles wolfishly at him before snatching the money out of his hand, turning and half bending over, shaking his ass before strutting away as if nothing had happened, continuing with his performance.
Josh is a little less lewd in his interaction with Austin, grabbing his tip and slowly running his hand up Austins arm, making a full circle around him before stopping with a wide stance in front of him, aiming a “gun” at him with his fingers and pretending to pull the trigger as the chorus plays “Girls that hate cops and buy guns (pew).” Josh smiles wide at him, winking before he turns, dropping down into a quick deep squat, pushing his ass out towards Austin as he stands before making his way through the crowd as Sam had done.
Both continue weaving through the tables, snatching tips out of the air as the song continues. They reach the stage, synchronizing their movements once more as they lip sync.
“I like the girls who like to lie that they came,
Girls who fuck on the train.
Girls who got so much hair on they ass, it clogs the drain.”
They both shake their asses at this before Josh splits off to the side of the stage, jumping high and landing a perfect death drop as the beat of the last chorus drops. Austin chokes on his spit as the crowd erupts, Josh rolling onto his knees continuing to dance from his spot on the floor. Sam turns, squatting low next to Josh, who falls backwards as he tosses his tips in the air, knees still on the floor as the song ends and the lights cut out.
Wolf whistles are heard amidst the deafening cheering and applause as the patrons rise from their seats to give them a standing ovation. Danny and Austin are the only ones still sitting, their minds still focused on the performance they just witnessed to notice they were the only ones not on their feet. The lights cut back on as Josh and Sam rise, Sirena taking the stage with a mic as they catch their breaths.
“Holy fuckin’ shit y’all! I’ve seen them practice that at least 50 times and even I am real fuckin’ impressed, that was fantastic! Lets give them another round of applause!” The crowd continues their applause as they take their seats, still cheering for them as Josh and Sam beam from the stage, acknowledging the crowds praise with thankful gestures. “How y’all feelin’?”
She points the mic towards Josh, still recovering from the performance. “Really fucking out of breath.” He laughs as he gulps down air, chest heaving from exertion. Sirena laughs before pointing the mic towards Sam on her other side.
“How bout you, kid?”
“Sweaty.” He grimaces before he continues, “Very, very sweaty… in very uncomfortable places.”
Sirena throws her head back as she laughs loudly, bringing the mic back to her lips. “Welcome to drag.” She turns to face the crowd again. “Now, my daughters are gonna go change and take a short break, but don’t y’all worry, we’ll be seein’ more of ‘em tonight.”
With that, Josh and Sam exit the stage, waving their goodbyes and blowing kisses to the crowd as they give their final cheers before they disappear backstage.
“We got a whole line up of amazingly talented queens and kings for the night, but, for the next,” she looks at her wrist as if she was checking the time, “Three minutes and 20 seconds, give or take, y’all are stuck with me.” The crowd whoops and hollers, and Jake brings both index and middle fingers up to his lips, letting a shrill whistle out. “So, I’d like to introduce y’all to your next performer… me!” She laughs, the crowd continuing their cheers as she hands the mic off to Sparrow just off stage before the lights go dark as she sets up for her song.
The intro starts, and Jake immediately recognizes the song, having heard it hundreds of times from many of Sebastians playlists.
“’Cause baby, now we’ve got bad blood.
You know it used to be mad love.
So take a look what you’ve done,
‘Cause baby, now we’ve got bad blood, hey!”
She steps off the stage, beginning to prowl the crowd as her persona completely switches when the song changes from Taylor Swifts part to Kendrick Lamars’.
“I can’t take it back, look where I’m at.
We was OG like D.O.C., remember that?
My TLC was quite OD, ID my facts.
Now POV of you and me, similar Iraq.”
She weaves her way through the crowd, snatching tips as she passes people, her eyes scanning the crowd as she makes sure to interact with the other patrons despite her internal desire to run over to Jake and give him all her attention. She manages to gather her restraint, keeping herself deliberately away from the corner him and the other boys occupied. Finally, with less than a minute and a half left of the song, she allows herself to lock eyes with Jake as she slowly makes her way towards him. She lip syncs with the song perfectly, letting herself take on a softer persona as the bridge shifts the vibe of the song.
“Band-Aids don’t fix bullet holes.
You say sorry just for show.,
If you live like that, you live with ghosts.”
She brings her hand up to slightly brush his hair back, her hand trailing down the side of his face and jaw, pushing it up slightly to bring his face closer to her own, ghosting her lips against his. Just before they make contact, she backs away, her arm continuing down his arm and grasping the bill in his hand, taking it from his grip and taking steps back, away from him as she grins. She keeps her eyes on him as she backpedals through the crowd towards the stage.
“Band-Aids don’t fix bullet holes.
You say sorry just for show.
If you live like that, you live with ghosts.”
She turns away from Jake, her face obscured from him as she sings the end of the bridge, taking a running start towards the stage.
“If you love like that, blood runs cold.”
Right as it ends, when she’s about to run into the end of the short stage, she jumps, flipping in midair as she lands a perfect aerial, landing and dropping to her knees as the beat drops, throwing her tips in the air for further effect. She lets them rain down on her as the crowd erupts, losing their minds at the move she pulled off. She finishes the song with every bit of energy she had started with, gratefully accepting the thunderous applause and cheers from the crowd. Her eyes search through the throngs of people, looking for one specific man. She finds him, eyes locking with Jakes as he stands applauding her, a massive grin on his face as he lets out various whoops. He whistles loud once more, spurred on by the eye contact with Sirena.
Feeling a tap on her arm, Sirena looks over to see Sparrow holding the mic out for her expectantly, snapping her attention back to the show from where it had strayed to nothing but thoughts of Jake. She turns the mic on, checking it before starting her thanks and next introduction. “Oh lord, thank y’all so much. That shit just busted my knees but I had a fun time doin’ it and I hope y’all enjoyed watchin’!”
The crowd grows impossibly louder, showing their support for Sirena as they take their seats. “Now, y’all gotta give me a minute to catch my breath but, in the meantime, we got a whole crew of performers lined up for y’all tonight!” She introduces the next performer of the night, her sibling, Sparrow. After his performance, she comes back on stage, introducing the next, continuing this pattern as the night goes on. Jake thinks he recognizes a few names, Shimmer and Faebelle being two of them, but is lost after that point as Sirena introduces drag queens and kings he had never met in person yet.
After the last performer, she resumes her place on stage, waiting for the cheers to die out before she starts. “Now, I know y’all are havin’ the time of your fuckin’ lives out there, and we’re doin’ the same up here; but, unfortunately, this night has to come to an end at some point. It’s only fittin’ that our two opening performers close the night as well so, it is my pleasure to reintroduce you to our last performers of the night, starting with Callie Bungah!”
The crowd cheers once more as Sirena steps off the stage and is replaced by Sam, now bathed in a soft blue light. Danny sucks a sharp breath in as he takes in his outfit change. With his brunette space buns replaced by two blond braids, his tight black tank top now a loose, soft maroon one, light blue overalls overtop it, with maroon converse replacing his short heels. Danny almost laughs as he realizes Sam looked like half “country girls” he saw around town. Sam searches through the crowd for Danny as the song begins, finding him just in time and raising his arm to point at the other man.
“You think I’m pretty without any makeup on.
You think I’m funny when I tell the punch line wrong.
I know you get me, so I let my walls come down, down.
Before you met me,
I was alright, but things were kinda heavy.
You brought me to life, now every February,
You’ll be my Valentine, Valentine.”
Sam grins at Danny as he begins making his way towards him as Danny wears a matching smile on his face, captivated by Sam and heart fluttering at his song choice. Sam ignores the other patrons waving bills in the air, his focus intent on getting to Danny. He once again places himself between Danny’s legs, his hands finding his forearms as he lip-syncs through his smile.
“My heart stops
When you look at me, just one touch,
Now, baby I believe this is real.
So take a chance and don’t ever look back, don’t ever look back.”
He places a quick kiss to Dannys lips, leaving behind a dark maroon stain before he grabs the tip in Danny’s hand and turning away to interact with the rest of the crowd. Danny’s heart flutters with pure love for Sam as he watches the rest of the performance, replaying their interaction in his mind even as the song ends and Sam reaches the stage, fists full of tips. The lights cut out as the song ends, returning to their dim white setting as Sam stands on stage, waving and blowing kisses to the crowd before exiting and disappearing behind the stage door.
Sirena takes center stage again, applauding Sam before bringing the mic to her lips. “Thank you, Callie! She disappeared backstage real fast, but imma assume that number was less sweat inducing than her last one.” The crowd laughs with her, whooping and cheering their support, and she gives them a moment to quiet before she continues. “Now, last but certainly not least, I give you Elle Fernanda!”
She steps off the stage, her place taken by Josh. Austin takes the sight in, thinking to himself that his new outfit was so fitting for him. His tank top is the same, the fishnet shirt gone and his hair now bright pink coils past his shoulders, a leather chocker adorned with a metal heart at its center, with his red contacts replaced by purple ones, his short leather skirt replaced by an ankle-length deep purple one, and lastly, his tall stilettos gone as he stood barefoot.
“Happiness hit her like a train on a track.
Coming towards her, stuck still no turning back.”
No one notices the tambourine in his hand until he raises it, hitting it perfectly with each beat, encouraging the crowd to clap along with him. He smiles wide when they do, stepping off the stage and beginning to weave through the crowd, grabbing tips with his free hand as he taps the tambourine against his hip. He manages to make his way through the crowd without dropping any tips, tambourine still hitting his hip as he spins and twirls along. He finds his way to Austin, stopping in front of him as he pauses the steady beat of his tambourine when the song reaches its bridge.
“And I never wanted anything from you.
Except everything you had and what was left after that too, oh.”
He resumes the movements of his tambourine as he gently grabs the money from Austin's hand, backing away from him as he moves through the crowd once more. He finishes the song with as much energy as he had in the beginning. He bows as the crowd cheers for him and is joined by Sirena on stage as the crowd continues their applause.
“Once again, Elle, thank you for that incredible performance.”
Josh smiles at her, offering one last wave to the crowd before he exits and goes through the stage door Sam had disappeared behind.
“Thank you all for comin’ out to support us! Hope to see y’all soon!” Sirena offers as a final parting comment, before following suit after Josh and disappearing backstage as the main lights come back on. Jake, Austin, and Danny make no move to get up, taking the final sips of their drinks as they wait for the crowd to disperse.
Jake checks his phone as a message from Sebastian lights his screen up, placing it in his pocket after responding before he recites the message to the other boys. “Seb says to just wait out here, they’ll all be out in a minute.”
“Do they need our help? With all the bags and all.” Danny questions.
“Na, Seb says they can make it from the room to here with the three of them.”
They sit in comfortable silence for a few moments before Jake breaks it with a question.
“So, how do you guys feel?”
Both Danny and Austin let out a breath, sighing as they recount their thoughts and feelings from witnessing their boyfriends in drag for the first time.
“Fuckin’ amazing. Josh was, wow. And that second outfit was just so… so him, y’know?”
Jake smiles, agreeing with his statement with a slight nod. “I know, he looked so happy and at-home up there, like he was born to perform.”
“What about you, Dan?”
Danny runs his hand through his hair before speaking. “Honestly? I’m not even mad that Sam chose “Girls” just to fuck with me. That was… fucking incredible. They both were.”
They sit together, making light conversation as they wait for the other three boys to finish changing. After about 20 minutes, they appear out of the stage door, visibly exhausted and arms full of their belongings. Their boyfriends immediately shoot out of their seats, quickly making their way over to the group to take most of their bags.
“You guys were fantastic tonight!” Jake says as he takes a duffel bag on each shoulder, another in his hand.
Sebastian offers a tired smile, “Thanks, mon beau.”
“Yeah, thanks mon beau.” Sam mumbles with a sleepy shit-eating grin as he leans on Danny, who presses a soft kiss to his forehead with a light laugh.
“Shut up, Sam.”
“Both of you, shhhhhhhh.” Josh says, pausing in his attempt at handing his bags over to Austin to raise a finger to his lips, eyes half open as he glares at them.
“Y’all tired?” Austin questions, already knowing the answer as Josh rests his head on his shoulder.
He mumbles a “Mhmm.” into Austins shirt, grimacing as he remembers that Sam and Danny had carpooled with them. “Ugh, and we still gotta take Danny and Sam home, don’t we?”
“They could just crash in our guest room, I don’t know about Austin, but Seb was planning on staying over tonight anyways.” Jake offers as they slowly make their way towards the exit.
Sam’s face lights up at the comment, as much as it could in his tired state. “Sleepoverrrr?”
Danny laughs at his tone of genuine excitement, wrapping an arm around Sams waist to steer him out the door. “Sounds good to me.”
The group reaches Austins truck first, saying their temporary goodbyes to Jake and Sebastian as they head towards Jakes car parked down the street. With Josh slumped against the window in the passenger seat and Sam leaning on Danny in the back, the ride to Jake and Josh’s house is peaceful and quiet. They reach their house before Sebastian and Jake do, Danny and Austin having to encourage the brothers out of the car and finally managing to get them to shuffle their way to the front door as Austin and Danny grab their bags.
Josh pulls his keys out, struggling with the lock before Austin gently takes them from his hands.
“Here, darlin’, let me.”
As he unlocks the door, the group is flooded with headlights as Jake and Sebastian pull into the driveway, causing Sam and Josh to bring their hands up to block their eyes as they squint at the harsh light. Sebastian stumbles out of the car with a little more grace than the other two boys had, taking a few of his bags as Jake handles the rest of them. They enter the house, all dropping their bags at the door and agreeing that it would be their problem in the morning to sort them all out.
Danny taps Sam as he leans against the wall, already falling asleep as he waited for his boyfriend. “Alright, Sammy, time for bed.”
He makes a pouty face at this, attempting to argue through his obvious exhaustion. “Nooo, mnot tired.”
Josh comes to his aid as Austin begins pulling him towards his room. “Me neither.”
Jake scoffs at his brothers, already falling asleep despite having been home for less than a minute. Austin and Danny only shake their heads, sharing a small smile at the well-known stubbornness of the Kiszka brothers.
Josh leans against Austins front, looking up and batting his eyes at his boyfriend. “Can we watch a movie? Pleaseee.”
“Yeah, I wanna watch a movie.” Sam butts in, trying his best to stay awake enough to argue.
Danny sighs, knowing it was no use trying to argue with them, even in their groggy states. “Fine. But only after we get ready for bed. You still have some makeup left on your face, love.”
Both brothers smile sleepily, making silent “Yaaaay”s at their victory.
“What movie y’all wanna watch?”
Josh immediately makes a suggestion. “Labyrinth. David Bowie’s outfit is fucking phenomenal. Have it on DVD somewhere.”
“Sounds great, darlin’.” The group begins to break off in pairs, each going towards a separate room to finish taking their still-stuck makeup and wig glue off. Austin directs his attention towards Jake and Sebastian, already halfway into Jake’s room. “Y’all joinin’ us?”
Sebastian looks at Jake, shrugging before answering. “Why not.”
With that final confirmation, they break off to get ready before piling onto Jake and Josh’s couches for an impromptu movie night.
Danny helps Sam remove his smudged eyeliner in silence, humming quietly as he goes along.
“Watcha hummin, Daniel?”
His response is quiet as he begins his work on Sams other eye. “Woyaya.”
“Isn’t that that one song Josh loves?”
“Mhm, stuck in my head for some reason.”
They continue in comfortable silence and it isn’t until Danny helps Sam into a pair of sweatpants and an old band tshirt he had left at their house long ago that Sam finally speaks up again.
“Did you like the show tonight?”
Danny gently grabs his shoulders, turning the other boy before starting to work on his unruly waves, brushing the tangles out with his fingers as he begins to pull them into a neat single braid down the center of his back.
“Of course I did, love. You were amazing.”
He smiles at this, thinking for a minute before continuing. “You’re not pissed I did “Girls” just to fuck with you?”
Danny laughs, pressing a small kiss to the back of his head before wrapping his hands around his chest and pulling him close against him. “I wouldn’t say I was pissed at your song choice, but I was definitely surprised, sweetheart. But no, you were fantastic, so that made up for it. You little shit.”
Sam laughs quietly, his exhaustion muffling his words. “Mmmm you don’t mean that.”
Danny offers him a light squeeze as he nuzzles his face into the other boys neck. “I don’t.” Danny places a soft kiss to the side of his head before breaking their embrace, taking Sams hand in his own as he leads him out of the room. “C’mon, no falling asleep on me. Movie, remember?”
Sam only offers a small “Mhm.” as they make their way towards the living room, already finding Labyrinth queued up by Jake who now sat leaning against the corner of the couch with Sebastian tucked snug under his arm. Danny takes a seat on one of the small, two person loveseats next to the main couch, with Sam flopping down, half laying on Danny as he gets comfortable.
It’s not long before Austin and Josh stumble out, taking the other loveseat on the opposite side of the couch as Jake makes a move for the remote.
“See Jakey, I told you it wasn’t “too much” seating.” Josh mumbles out, referencing the argument they had had when they first bought the house on if two loveseats and a couch was overkill.
“Shut up and watch the movie.” Is all he gets in response as everyone settles in and the opening credits roll.
They are silent for the rest of the film, with Josh and Sam falling asleep against their partners not even 15 minutes into the movie, Sebastian following suit soon after. The three boys that remained awake share various chuckles and head shakes of “I told you so”, knowing they would all give them lighthearted shit about it in the morning.
They all fall into a deep, comfortable sleep by the end of the movie, peacefully tucked against the safety of their partners as the end credits roll.
