Reasons to Invest in a Salvage Classic Car
Tumblr media
Many auto enthusiasts dream of owning a classic car but their price tags are often a problem. So, what can you do? The simplest way to buy your dream machine without breaking the bank is getting one from a salvage yard. Though some people think that salvage or damaged cars for sale can no longer be used, that simply isn’t true. A lot of salvage cars featured in salvage yards can be made road-ready with some repairs and maintenance, which makes them ideal for those who want to own a classic car without having to disrupt their finances. A Better Investment than Stocks and Bonds Believe it or not, investing in a salvage classic car can create higher returns than traditional investment instruments such as stocks and bonds. It goes without saying that the stock market is highly volatile , especially in times like this with a global pandemic lingering. A stock that is performing well today may heavily depreciate the next. That isn’t the case with classic cars, as their value and desirability tend to increase with time. So, as an investor, you can expect to yield great returns by investing in a salvage car. Also re-titling salvage cars that are 14 years and older is much easier than the title process for later model vehicles. An Appreciating Asset that Increases in Value Unlike modern cars that lose roughly half their value the moment they are driven off the lot, classic cars actually increase in value over time. In fact, it would be safe to say that the more years a classic car has behind it, the higher its market value will be. Even if the value of a classic car does not increase with time, it rarely decreases, which is always the case when you buy a modern car. A damage or accident history does not effect the value of a classic car the way it does to a modern vehicle. As a vehicle becomes older, it becomes more rare. There are very limited resources for acquiring classic cars, so sometimes car collectors have to be creative in the way they acquire these vehicles. Be a Part of Exclusive Clubs No matter how much you spend on buying a brand new car, there isn’t a sense of exclusivity as a number of people will be buying the same car. Buying a classic car, on the other hand, gives you an opportunity to be part of exclusive clubs. While some classic cars are known for their appeal and performance, some are known for their historical significance, which could be being featured in a movie or being designed for a legend. So, if you wish to be a part of exclusive fan clubs, buying a classic car is the way to go. Whether you want to buy a classic car to add to your collection, or plan to flip it for profit, salvage yards in the USA are the place to be. That is when you need a trusted name like BidGoDrive.com . As a trusted salvage car dealer, we leave no stone unturned to ensure you have an absolutely seamless experience, no matter whether you buy a classic car or one of the latest entrants in the auto industry. Guide to Selling Salvaged Cars
Tumblr media
Selling a salvage titled vehicle is a good way to get rid of a junk car while making some money. Salvaged vehicles are vehicles that insurance companies deem too expensive to replace or repair, whether because they've been stolen, vandalized, or damaged by bad weather or accidents. Even though such cars can't be driven with their salvage titles attached, there are many ways to get a salvage title car off your hands in exchange for money. What Selling Salvaged Cars Entails and How It Works Salvage title laws vary by state, but the general principle is the same: Once an insurance company determines that a car's total damage exceeds a significant portion of its value — typically 75 to 90 percent — it labels the vehicle a total loss, and the department of motor vehicles (DMV) for the state slaps a salvage title onto the vehicle. Most dealers don't accept salvage cars as trade-ins, even after the salvage title has been removed. Salvage titles sometimes come with special designations for their type of damage, such as hail or flood damage. Cars can also receive a non-repairable designation, which means they're incapable of being repaired and must instead be destroyed or sold for parts. If your wrecked car has successfully been fixed, however, and if it's passed your DMV's safety inspections, it can receive a new title with branding to show it's still roadworthy. If the car was stolen and had been missing for a month or so, the insurance company may pay off the vehicle and sell it to a salvage buyer, in which case the car may receive a salvage title. Selling a salvage car to an insurance company is one of the quickest ways to make money off it — but not the most lucrative. Typically, the insurance company's settlement is low, so the company can profit from reselling the vehicle to the salvage buyer. As a result, you're better off selling to the end consumer directly. Newer salvage vehicles tend to sell better than old ones because the drivetrain components are more valuable. Many people also pay extra for niche salvage cars, such as Volkswagen Beetles or Porsches, since they may have a high repair or resale value and lots of rare parts. By contrast, junkers — that is, cars that have been around for more than a few decades — don't have much value. Once you've gone to your local DMV and received a salvage certificate for your car, you can sell the vehicle to a dealership willing to buy salvage vehicles, or you can look for other potential buyers. Selling to a Salvage Yard Salvage yards love to buy salvage title cars, as they can scrap these cars for parts and crush them into metal blocks for recycling. If you want to sell your salvage car to a salvage yard, you need to collect your car's title and registration to show the buyer your vehicle is legitimate. Depending on the yard, you may also need a value appraisal of the car from Kelley Blue Book or the National Automobile Dealers Association, plus a detailed explanation of the car's damage. These buyers purchase used cars from people, drain and dismantle them, and then park them together in large yards, where customers can manually collect their parts for a discounted rate. One benefit of salvage yards is that they care mainly about the weight of the vehicle, so you're not as likely to be penalized if you have an older car. This method is especially lucrative when the metal market is doing well. Companies like BidGoDrive.com pay more for rare or luxury cars, since they export them over seas. Other Ways to Sell Your Car If you don't want to sell your salvage title to a salvage yard, there are plenty of alternatives. For example, you can find a private car buyer who's happy to pay you a significant fraction of the car's value, either because they can use the car's parts or because they want the vehicle as a collector's item. Alternatively, you can find a dealer willing to take salvage cars as trade-ins, or you can call a hauler or tow company to buy the car for cheap, and they can sell it to a salvage yard for a profit. Calling a tow company is a good idea if you don't want to transport your salvage car to a yard and can't find a yard that's willing to pick up the vehicle for you. You can also donate your vehicle to a charity, such as Make-A-Wish or Kars4Kids, for a tax deduction. Another way to get a salvage car off your hands is to bring it to a salvage vehicle auction, where recyclers can bid on your vehicle. To auction off your salvage car, however, you may have to pay auction fees of $250 to $600 (as of 2019) and file some paperwork. You may also need to tow your vehicle to the auction, which can be expensive. Contact BidGoDrive.com this is a service offered by our company. We will cover all auction fees and towing fees. WE WILL GIVE YOU CASH FOR YOUR SALVAGE VEHICLE UPFRONT. Keep in mind that you don't have to sell your salvage car whole. You can always dismantle the vehicle yourself and sell the parts individually. This method takes time and requires some experience, but it might get more money overall. Finally, you can try to rebrand your car. This method entails fixing the salvage car so it can receive a clean title as "rebuilt" or "reconditioned." For this approach, you need to fix the vehicle or hire a mechanic to do so, taking care to photograph the car throughout the repair process. You can then give the DMV your photos, your bill of sale for the vehicle and your car's salvage title and request a vehicle inspection. If the DMV decides the car is roadworthy after inspecting it, the inspector can give the vehicle a decal authorizing it as such. You can then file for a new title with the DMV. Although this process is expensive, car buyers are apt to pay you more for a rebuilt salvage car. Just make sure you follow state-specific laws when rebranding. Selling salvaged cars can be a challenge. Contact us if you want CASH FOR YOUR CAR NOW>>> NO WAITING>>> NO HIDDEN FEES 201-378-3121 Read the full article

Coast Guard Gives Details About Salvage Operation for Capsized Ship
Tumblr media
In this Sept. 9, 2019, file photo, a Moran tugboat nears the stern of the capsizing vessel Golden Ray as a tent and rescuers can be seen near the bottom of the ship near the tug boat in Jekyll Island, Ga. (AP Photo/Stephen B. Morton) Article By:The Brunswick News, Ga. | By Gordon Jackson If everything goes as planned, the process to drive 80 piles into the seabed surrounding the Golden Ray will begin this week. After netting to trap pollutants and debris is erected on the piles surrounding the vessel, the complicated process to remove the vessel begins. The goal is to have the vessel removed and the seabed clean of debris before the height of hurricane season starts. Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Matt Waller, a member of the Unified Command responsible for removing the 656-foot ship that capsized more than five months ago made a presentation at Wednesday's Brunswick City Commission meeting. He explained the plans to remove the vessel with nearly 4,200 cars inside. While there is a sense of urgency to remove the vessel, the safety of responders and the environment remain the top priorities, Waller said. There are currently an estimated 150 people working on the salvage operation. The number of workers and vessels will increase noticeably once the actual salvage work begins. He estimated there could be as many as 500 people at the site. The ship will be cut into eight sections, one at a time, he said. It will take about 24 hours of continuous cutting by a large chain designed to rip through the hull in a way that won't leave any metal shavings on the sea bed. Once the cutting begins on a section, it can't be stopped, Waller said. A barge crane designed to dismantle oil rigs will straddle the Golden Ray, lift out each section and place it on a barge. It's possible the chain will cut through some of the vehicles, but Waller said most of them will be pushed aside as the chain cuts through the ship. It will take four to seven days to secure each section to a barge before it is shipped to a salvage yard in Louisiana. Waller said it will take the barges more than a week for the voyage. Lifting brackets are currently being welded on the ship's hull to provide lifting points for each portion of the ship. Once a section is safely secured on a barge, crews will begin cutting the next section. During the process there will be constant monitoring for oil and fuel leaks at the site and along and estimated 118 miles of shoreline and marshes. The sea bed will also be inspected for any debris as each section is removed. Divers will be used to pick up anything on the sea bed that can't be picked up by a magnet, Waller said. There will be times when traffic in the shipping channel will have to be temporarily suspended. But Waller said the closures will take hours, not days. Waller ended the presentation by expressing thanks to the community for their hospitality and understanding. After the presentation, commissioners had a light agenda. They unanimously reappointed commissioners Vincent Williams and Felicia Harris to the city's finance committee. BidGoDrive.com is monitoring the situation closely with our insurance partners to see if we can acquire the damaged vehicles inside the hull of this ship. They are all brand new vehicles many with no damage at all. Exporting Salvage Cars: What You Need to Know
Tumblr media
You just bought a salvage car from a U.S. dealership and want to sell it to a foreign buyer in Canada. You’re vaguely aware of a rule stating that exporting used vehicles out of the U.S. requires specific documentation. But this is just something you’re putting up on Craig’s List. And you just bought the car, so of course it’s not used—right? This is where things get tricky. When it comes to U.S. export regulations, what is considered a used or salvage vehicle is broader than you might expect. According to Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a used or salvage vehicle is defined as “any self-propelled vehicle the equitable or legal title to which has been transferred by a manufacturer, distributor, or dealer to an ultimate purchaser.” What does this mean for you? It means that even if you haven’t driven the vehicle a single mile, the vehicle is considered used unless you are the original manufacturer selling it directly to a foreign buyer. And yes, there are indeed additional requirements for exporting used/salvage vehicles that don’t apply to exporting new vehicles.
Tumblr media
Automated Export System
If you live in the United States and you export goods in any capacity, it’s important to familiarize yourself with the Automated Export System (AES). This is the system that the U.S. government uses to collect data on exports. In many cases, exporters are required to file their shipment information, called Electronic Export Information (EEI), through AES before sending out a shipment. The filing is done on the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE), the online interface that enables exporters to transmit their EEI to AES. If you are a U.S. citizen or resident with a Social Security Number, you will need to create an ACE account and provide an employer identification number (EIN) as part of the EEI. You can apply for an EIN on the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) website. Non-U.S. citizens cannot create an ACE account and must instead authorize a U.S. agent to file on their behalf. Furthermore, non-U.S. citizens do not need to apply for an EIN, and must instead provide their passport number. The EIN (or passport number) is used purely for identification purposes; it does not have any tax implications. If you are exporting a used vehicle, you are required to file the EEI through AES at least 72 hours prior to departure of the vehicle, regardless of destination, value or condition.
Export Documentation Requirements
As part of the export, you must provide proof of ownership in the form of a manufacturer’s statement of origin or a private individual’s certificate of title. You must present the vehicle’s vehicle identification number (VIN), or if there is no VIN, the product identification number (PIN). You are also required to present the internal transaction number (ITN) for the AES filing, which you receive upon submitting the filing. The vehicle and this required documentation must be presented to customs at the port of export at least 72 hours prior to departure.
Further Reading
This article is meant to be a basic introduction to what you need to keep in mind when exporting vehicles in the U.S. There are exceptions to some of the general rules I have described, and other more nuanced details that I have not mentioned. For example, you may authorize a freight forwarder or some other outside agent to file the EEI through AES on your behalf. In this case you would not need to create an ACE account, and instead would need to provide the agent with your EIN so they can file on your behalf. And don't forget that there will be additional requirements—and fees—imposed by the customs authority in the country of import. CERTIFICATE OF DESTRUCTION VS. SALVAGE TITLE
Tumblr media
When a vehicle is involved in an accident, and the insurance company declares the vehicle a total loss, they may request that the state reclassify the title as a certificate of destruction or a salvage title.  So what's the difference? CERTIFICATE OF DESTRUCTION A certificate of destruction is basically a Death Certificate.. That vehicle can never be operated on the road again in most US states. Normally These CD's cannot be rebuilt... They are meant to become a giant ball of scrap metal or stripped of its parts. There are some states that will accept Certificate of Destruction.  States like Kentucky, Vermont and New Hampshire will accept a Certificate of Destruction as proof of ownership. They will allow the owner of that vehicle to transfer the COD into a Rebuildable Salvage Title. Once the COD is converted to a rebuildable salvage title these states will allow you to rebuild the vehicle and run it through their salvage inspection. Once the vehicle passes the salvage inspection, those states will issue you a rebuilt title which you can register and insure like a regular vehicle. Certificate of Destructions are also very desirable title type for vehicle exporters. Most countries in the world outside of the USA will accept a COD as proof of ownership. Vehicle exporters prefer this type of title because of two reasons: LESS COMPETITION: They are able to purchase these vehicle for huge savings because most people here in the USA can not rebuild these vehicles. The vehicle exporters only competition is the local junk yards that buy these vehicles to part out. The junk yards are not willing to pay what the exporters are willing to pay for these vehicle. LOW IMPORT TAXES: Vehicle exporters save thousands of dollars in import tax because they can declare a very low value on the vehicle they are importing with a certificate of destruction title. When these vehicle exporters import vehicles with CLEAN TITLES in some countries they are required to pay up to 90% of the vehicles retail value in taxes alone. Just because the vehicle has a certificate of destruction title does not mean the vehicle can not be repaired. SALVAGE TITLE A salvage title, is a different animal.  Most states have a mathematical equation in which they take the current value of the vehicle against the cost to repair.  If the cost to repair is less than , usually about 70 to 80% of the vehicle value they may request that a salvage title be issued.  In most states, this means that the vehicle can be repaired and put back up on the road, subject to DMV inspections. Looking to recoup its costs, the insurance firm will often resell the vehicle to an auto repair company where the car, truck or SUV is repaired or even rebuilt. By law in most states, the next title on that repaired or rebuilt vehicle is referred to as a salvage title, as a means of letting future potential buyers know the vehicle has been damaged. While categories vary on a state-to-state basis, a salvage title may signal a car is damaged in the following ways: The vehicle has collision damage from an accident. The vehicle has experienced fire damage. The vehicle has experienced flooding damage. The car has been stolen, and parts may be missing, and other damage done to the vehicle. The vehicle was formerly a heavily-used taxi, law enforcement vehicle, was returned under a warranty, or has been re-manufactured for resale purposes. Salvage title laws do vary state-to-state, and it's always advisable to know the facts in your state on a salvage title car before you buy one.
