of course she would be trapped . it was rare that josie was successfully trapped in a cage but this time was different . the bars were encased in a protection spell that she couldn't break free from . the more she touched the bars , instead of being able to pull the magic from it, her magic was weakened . a reverse siphoning spell , perfect for the gemini witch . " well this sucks . " having two powerful beings trapped together was a potential recipe for disaster if josie had ever seen one . with a huff she made a small fire in the base of the cage , trying to warm the pair of them from the cold metal that surrounded them . hopeful that the flames may do something but knew that hoping and wishing was just useless . " i blame you for this mess , cardan . "

Of course it's his fault. When has Josie ever taken accountability for her actions ever since she indulged the idea of practising dark magic and died her hair a colour dark enough to match his own, similar to an angst-filled child ? It's no secret that Cardan enjoys a tad of danger; But, unlike his reckless companion, he doesn't engulf himself with it ― certainly not to the point where it got him captured by a group of people ( human, he assumes ) who, from what word has it around the school, torture supernatural creatures and then probably hang their carcasses over an overly expensive stove. He never should have come here. Befalling to the hands of Balekin would have been better; At least then, he would know what to expect.

The Fae narrows the witch a glare through his long lashes, trusting it to convey how this new version of the siphoner is starting to irritate him to the point where he even catches himself longing for the old, spineless yet brilliant and calculating Josie, but it is short-lived for no sooner than a moment later, the cage around then is ignited into flames. Startled, he takes a sharp breath and draws closer to the center, hoping to avoid both the burning tongue of the iron bars and the magical embers that could, potentially, scorch them alive. ❛ Do you wish to bring forth our doom earlier than expected ?! Put that out ! ❜ Cardan hisses before making use of his hands to push to his feet. The motion is unsteady, for the small particles of iron still looming in the ear that he has been inhaling ― now tenfold its prior numbers due to the burning flames ― have made him lightheaded and he can even feel the beginning of a headache, but such doesn't stop the Fae from marching towards the locked, iron gate. Although he stops a good distance away from the flames, he can still feel their lingering touch against his cheeks; but that might as well be the effects of iron.

Having already gotten her Chinese food and settled onto the couch in her pajamas with a glass of wine, the last thing Izzie Saltzman had been expecting at seven on a Friday night was for anyone else to knock on her door. As far as the lawyer could recall, she hadn't made any plans to hang with anyone. Nor was she expecting any deliveries, and so she almost gave in to the temptation to ignore the sound in hopes that someone had the wrong house...until the second knock sounded, destroying that particular delusion. Heaving a defeated sigh, the brunette put down her carton of takeaway and paused her show as she rose to her feet. "Just one moment!" Isabella called, grabbing a can of vervain laced pepper spray and making sure her trusty bat was within reach before pulling open the door to find two confused looking teenage girls looking back at her. "Can I...help you two?"

I'm not generally interested in Legacies characters, but given that I refuse to acknowledge Stefan's death, I can happily look forward to exploring what life would have been like with the twins.

(❤️) @petrovawitch is such a fun oc and I'm extremely picky about those, especially when they're related to or have a big impact on canon. She's a lovely mun who knows her stuff and has put a lot of effort into Vik which I appreciate so much and I'm excited to do things!

(❤️) @langdhon plays a character that is complicated and nuanced and none of that matters because he gives Stefan bad vibes and he doesn't like him. They are very different from one another but that hasn't stopped us from having them interact and I imagine it will always be interesting, even if they never become friends or find any common ground. A super talented mun whom I enjoy interacting with and talk to ooc.

Caroline tried not to let the sharp tongue of either daughter affect her anymore, even if it did hurt a little in her heart, the vampire new well enough how hard it was growing up and feeling as though nothing she did actually mattered. Always sensing that someone was doing better than her with little to no effort and comparing every single thing to her peers. It wasn't healthy but it was a part of becoming. "you're right, you're not me and I hope you never have to go through something like that, you've been through enough already". So much loss and pain starting at such a young age. "you do have a lot of choices ahead of you, and no one can promise that it's going to be easy, but from what I know and what I see you ARE good enough Josie, even if you don't feel it".

Josie was in her bad-witch-bitch era. Caroline knew it. So, it was a good thing that her humanity was off. It had been a while since this had happened. Honestly, she wasn't even sure why she had decided to flip that switch. Maybe it was the look on her daughter's face one day, or maybe it was a touch of mourning that she just didn't want to deal with. Whatever it was, it had happened, and she was dealing with it. Unfortunately, dealing with it meant that when Alaric supremely pissed her off that day, and she could no longer see a reason to keep him around (he wasn't a good father to her kids, and the longer they played at him being one, the worse he was getting)... she decided not to. Brows raised in curiosity as the door closed and she watched her daughter gather up magic. "Go on then. I love a show."

she'd been so young, too young some might argue, when she transitioned. a girl now thrusted into a role most terrifying, certainly not envied. if she's honest, it's been a grueling adjustment period. but then again, that's quite an understatement, isn't it? she could only imagine what the siphoner must be going through. hope wonders about it, but doesn't dare press it. one part due to altruism, one part is that gnawing paranoia that something else is undertow. she's always waiting for the other shoe to drop. it's a trait most certainly her father, but it's kept her alive thus far, for the most part. " i know how that goes. i felt that way after ... my mom. " she's grateful for freya bringing her HOME and keeping her there after the funeral. had the tribrid been made to stay in mystic falls, she shuddered to think of what'd become of her life. the school was, in hindsight, not the place for her. a beat, frowning as she finally stands. arms cross as she rocks on her heels. " yeah? it's been strange here, too ... i mean, i missed you. "

any effort made to remain undetected had been futile, but the tribrid had to applaud her for it nonetheless. an onslaught of newly transcendental senses overwhelms her, memories from childhood flooding back serving as a reminder of times much more innocent times. candlelight glimmers off necklace. eyes zoom in on pulsating throat, the sound deafening, MADDENING. it makes her skin crawl with what she's capable of doing and in a matter of a single blink. minor fidget with rings upon fingers. " good for you , " breathy laughter, flicker of flame as magic snuffs it out. " was beginning to think i was gonna be the ONLY one to escape ... "

POST SERIES/LEGACIES ADJACENT VERSE!

Stefan is married to Caroline and step father to the twins and a mentor/friendly support to the other students at the school. Damon died so Stefan could have a happy life and Elena probably left Mystic Falls to get on with the next chapter of her life. I am unfamiliar with what actually happened in canon as I haven't seen it yet but that's the premise! Stefan is very close with Josie and Lizzie. He is friendly with/tolerates Alaric (much like Caroline). He can be a human or a vampire, I'm willing to adjust as we go. Thanks to @saltzitivo for helping me decide what to do with him, post series, especially as I haven't seen Legacies and probably never will.
