Touya saw only what he wanted to see. He has no idea who any of them are.

I agree with the second sentence but not completely with the first sentence. Touya only saw what he did because that's all he could see. The pain he suffered from for so long blinded him and that's all he identified with. The one time he checked on his family, that shattered any imagination he had about a joyous reunion with his family.

It truly is a tragedy he never went back to check on them again. I wonder how he would have reacted if he could see Endeavour after being #1 How he's changed and how Deku truly changed Shoto's mindset. I truly wish he could have seen Shoto's interactions with Endeavour and how his family interacts with the Pro Hero. He would have definitely made contact with them if he could have seen, if not going home for good. I wonder how that interaction would have played out. Would love to see something on BackHome!Saltyaf!Dabi making up with his siblings and taunting Endeavour every moment he got, even slurping soba everytime Endeavour's home after a long day at work. Petty!TodorokiDabi is what I live for.

I also like how Dabi thought everything stayed the same since he was sixteen. Shouto is still just Enji’s pet project with no will of his own, Enji is still a raging maniac only caring about his success, the rest of the fam is just putting up with this. Meanwhile Enji had a whole change of character, he and Shouto went through a renegotiation of their roles in their relationship, Shouto stood up for himself by refusing to communicate with Enji until he was respected, Shouto trained and developed his own moves (unlike Touya who just copied Enji’s). Shouto has his own life and goals that have little to do with Enji. Rei got out of the hospital and was able to motivate her husband and son to fight Touya. Natsuo recognized Touya’s past suffering, he’s no longer that annoyed kid who just wants to sleep. Fuyumi was never “just a girl who doesn’t understand.” For all his spying on his family, Touya saw only what he wanted to see. He has no idea who any of them are.

Bird no. 394. Chop (inktober). . Sometimes dance class brings out the worst in me. . I'm trying to follow the choregraphy and I can see myself in the mirror looking totally stupid. That's bad enough. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I notice the girl beside me is this flawless angel of infinite grace, every limb perfectly coordinated and every step in perfect time. . It's hard to watch 🤣 . I'm getting better at noticing when I'm inwardly trying to cut people down to my level. . That awareness has been creating space between my observation and my reaction, which is long enough to ask some questions and make a choice about what happens next. . How much more fun would I be having if I celebrated her success instead of seething alone in jealousy? What would it be like to have a friendship instead of a weird, unidirectional competition? How much better would I feel if I didn't care how "good" I was compared to anyone else? . Awareness is the first step, that's all I know for sure. .
