3. What do their general eating habits look like? What does a daily menu look like for them? Do they eat a healthy diet? A varied one?

Hee-jae has not had breakfast in years. He used to permit himself a black coffee, and that's about it; he's been doing intermittent fasting since before it had a name and a trend around it. He also gave up refined sugar in his fourth year of practice when he realised it interfered with his moods.

(Geum-ja, coincidentally, is also not a breakfast person and has her coffee tar-black.)

One year, he decided to use his dividends from a particularly profitable stock to buy a Vitamix in order to cut back on caffeine. He lasted a week. Sang-mi threatened to quit and Geum-ja gleefully invested in a Breville Barista just to make him even more miserable than he was to begin with.

He has precisely three indulgences: steak, alcohol and macarons. Macarons are a very special exception to the "no refined sugar" proviso; he savours them very, very slowly because he enjoys it better that way, but also because it drives Geum-ja up the wall.

33. How do they react to being physically injured or undergoing medical treatment?

If it's physical trauma, Hee-jae's manfully brave about the whole thing. He's had nosebleeds out on the football field before, stuff that looked vicious and had Yong-un worrying at him post-match. No pain, all gain, he thought then, especially if it had Yong-un getting all soft and concerned over him.

Dental work, though? All bets are off.

Back at Choong's old office, he complained for weeks about his wisdom tooth and had to be forcefully dispatched to his uncle's dental clinic. He had a weird reaction to the novocaine and Hyeok-jae had to go pick him up, except he wouldn't leave with Hyeok-jae, who then called Geum-ja. Geum-ja had to turn up, bodily drag him out to her car and get him home, but not without taking compromising videos of his post-wisdom surgery-lisp. For her own personal enjoyment, because she's definitely not sharing that with anyone else.

He still hasn't had his other wisdom tooth removed.

39. What is a gift that they have received that was especially touching or significant?

Yoon Hee-jae has his first-print Civil Procedure of Korea, an inheritance from his late grandfather. (Hyeok-jae got Grandpa's watch, the proper heirloom. Hee-jae thinks he got the better deal.) It's followed him from Song & Kim, to Choong's tiny office, and then to their larger premises. He always looks at it before a hearing: he takes it out of its protective plastic and carefully brushes his fingers over his Grandpa's name printed out.

There's the inexpensive men's watch that Geum-ja wore for years, which he's basically all but stolen off her wrist and wears whenever she's away and misses her terribly. It's the first thing she bought with her paycheque, and it means a lot to him that she lets him have it without comment.

But that's not really a gift, in the traditional sense; Geum-ja doesn't really do that, and they don't really exchange gifts on birthdays, or Valentine's Day, or their anniversary (which neither of them really tend to remember anyway).

She was doing some work with KBS when she got someone to search their archives and unearth an old tape of his mother playing the piano in a New Year's concert broadcast back in '83. It's saved on a CD and stored next to his Civil Procedure of Korea; Hyeok-jae saw it once and looked suspiciously like he was crying; he asked if he could make a copy. Seo-yeon's in Grade 3 and wants to study music in university; she's never once seen or heard her late grandmother play the piano.
