About the "if late: give [player] Starbucks: true" ask

What if the complexity of the drink increases if the player is late again and again and again? So the first time the Hermits are late to a meeting, they might get a black coffee, the second time it's a latte, then the latte had a fluffy foam and some cinnamon sprinkled on top, then there is latte art on it... you get the idea

The current leader in the lateness category is Doc. He often forgets about the meetings when he's working on one of his projects. The last coffee that appeared in his hands was a... quad long shot grande in a venti cup half calf double cupped no sleeve salted caramel mocha latte with 2 pumps of vanilla substitute 2 pumps of white chocolate mocha for mocha and substitute 2 pumps of hazelnut for toffee nut half whole milk and half breve with no whipped cream extra hot extra foam extra caramel drizzle extra salt add a scoop of vanilla bean powder with light ice well stirred... he can't even pronounce half of those ingredients, nor he can drink the sugary monstrosity!

(Yes, I had to google "longest starbucks drink order" for this xdd. It doesn't help that I never ordered anything from them either)

At this point, he might as well just stop showing up to meetings at all if he's going to be a couple minutes late. However, the curiosity always wins...can the server get even more complex with it next time? He has to know!

How do your main characters take their coffee?

Hello, Sarah! Here's some of my characters coffee orders:

Louis | James | Nicholas: For some reason, first born sons enjoy their coffee strong and dark. All three drink their coffee black, with Nick enjoying Americanos and the rare Cappuccino if he's willing to add cream.

Irene: She enjoys a Café au lait at breakfast. She also likes flat whites. Sometimes she'll call Tatiana and Shelby for a cup, particularly when she wants something out of them.

Jaqueline: Jack and her daughters enjoy iced coffees in particular. A plain cold brew for Jack, while Mia and Katheryn perfer iced vanilla lattes. Recently they've been trying out chai lattes with soy and oat milks, they're trying to cut back on the caffine and diary.

Jean: Anything with lots of whipped cream, sugar, and syrup. She loves a Pumpkin Spice Latte form Starbucks also things that have a chocolate of carmel flavouring.

Kamryn: Kam loves salted caramel mochas, but she's had to stop getting them as Margaux has taken to begging for a sip whenever she notices the Starbucks cup.

Mal McClelland: Folgers or Maxwell House, which he hates, but he is sure to be seen drinking/buying so as to come across as an "Everyman", working-class politican. More faux popularism bs from him, even the current political issues going on in my story (more on that later).

“Joseph?”

His shoulders hike up closer to his ears. The hand holding his phone lifts from his lap to centimeters in front of his nose and his eyes squint at whatever is on the screen. He's ignoring me, or attempting to, because I just catch the flick of his eyes up to me and then back to the screen.

His thumb swipes across it. He sniffles. He acts as if I don't exist. And I continue to stand there in front of him, a little agitated, honestly, but amused too. I don't know why he was following me, but this wasn't the first time I had noticed him. If he was being paid by who I think hired him, it wouldn't be the last time either. So maybe it was better to set things straight now instead of a month from now when I really got annoyed by his abysmal stalking.

“You're mister venti cinnamon mocha refresher with light ice,” I tell him, rattling off yesterday's Starbucks order. “An interesting change from the salted caramel mocha with two squirts of pumpkin spice that you normally get, but maybe you were feeling adventurous. Wednesdays do that to people.”

He says nothing.

I sigh and shake my head before sitting down on the park bench next to him, allowing some space between our jean-clad thighs. It's not enough for him to be comfortable or for him to relax, but he studiously continues to ignore me.

He swipes at his phone a second time while fitting his lower lip between his teeth and biting down. I stare at his profile, thinking that if I drill a hole into his cheek, he might be gracious enough to engage in conversation with me.

It doesn't work.

“Listen, Joe. I hope you don't mind the nickname, that's what I've been calling you in my head for this past week—”

He winces in silent reply—

“—I have a pretty good idea why you're following me and I'm going to tell you like I told the last idiot who was stalking me; I don't know anything about what happened to Miss Melissa. Yes, I saw her that evening, and, yes, it was a private kick-boxing class, but I went home from the gym and didn't hear about...well, you know, until it was all over the news.”

I swallow the stone in my throat and feel the bubbling sensation of dread in my chest. Her murder was still a haunting thing to think about a month after the fact and my being of no help to the police was a burden I tried to remove from my shoulders daily. If I had anything to give, if I knew anything, wouldn't I have told them? Wouldn't I have helped? Hell yes!

He blinks and turns to me, one brow lifting skeptically. I can tell my little heart-to-heart hasn't won him over and I unconsciously hold my breath, awaiting the venom that he's likely to spit in my direction.

“I think your memories of that night were erased, Miss Ashford,” he says, his quiet tone catching me completely off-guard. “My employer and I had to be absolutely sure you were who we thought you were and now that I've confirmed it, we need your help in finding out what happened that night. If you are willing...”

My Time Saving, Mom Life Saving, Gas Saving, Iced Coffee Hack

Time saving because I do the work week’s worth of coffee all at once; no multiple trips for coffee, and that’s also how it’s gas saving. The mom saving is because I can just grab it from my fridge and go; no chaos, no loading up kids in the car, no children crying because the drive thru line is torture, etc. How To below ⬇️ the video.

Disclosure: I’m not going to bore you with a whole life story about hand grinding coffee beans with Grandma growing up. I will provide a simple how to with the products I purchased and really used. They are recommendations and not requirements. I encourage to use what works for you.

How I do it:

I brew my coffee right into the reusable glass bottle. The glass bottles I use are 16oz and I use the 12oz cup size on my Keurig. This leaves enough room for cocoa later.

I mix one packet of hot cocoa mix with 4 oz of hot water. Make sure you stir to dissolve.

Then add the cocoa to your coffee. Once cooled, put the lid on your bottle, and refrigerate.

Repeat until you have your desired amount of coffee. I usually make 5 at a time.

Shake before drinking. Some settling is to be expected.

back by popular demand, i have yet another strange LOTR headcanon post. i present to you all, a sequel to “the fellowship reacts to kombucha,” titled: “the fellowship’s starbucks orders.”

for context, just started my job as a starbucks barista about three months ago, and trying to figure out what drinks the fellowship would order has been at the forefront of my mind. i will be providing their opinion on coffee and then their starbucks order.

aragorn: this bitch thrives off of black coffee, how else is he supposed to rule the kingdom of gondor?? he’s a dunedain, so while he probably limits his caffeine intake for health reasons, he definitely is the type to go into Starbucks and order a dark roast, black. and if there’s no dark roast brewed atm, then a hot americano.

legolas: this man. this pretentious-ass elf, oh my god. no coffee for this woodland elf, although he seems like the type—he’s a tea-drinker, let’s be real. and although i think his soul would give out if he even dared to walk inside a starbucks, he would be the type to order a “medicine ball” unironically.

gimli: obviously gimli is a coffee drinker, have we seen him?? he’s a coffee enjoyer, but not a snob—wherever he can get a cup, he’ll get some coffee, whether it be a local shop or a stbux. he’s definitely more drawn towards darker roasts, and i have an unexplainable feeling that gimli orders a venti cappuccino, extra dry, with an extra shot. he brings legolas with him, who rolls his eyes when gimli orders. hipster blonde tea drinker forced to go with his gruff coffee drinker boyfriend. they’re in love your honor

gandalf: gandalf has to take care of four hobbits, an elf, a dwarf, and two men—all of which are temperamental and argue NONSTOP. his caffeine intake is unlike anything anyone has seen. coffee is not about the taste for him, therefore he has no specific “order.��� if he needs a quad americano, he’ll get one. if he just needs a pike, he’ll get a pike. he has no shame. he has become a notable regular simply from the one time he ordered a ten shot latte—he also tips a LOT. he is adored by all the baristas, and they’re also probably scared of him

boromir: he likes coffee, but he just kinda drinks whatever is available to him. he doesn’t have a caffeine addiction, but every daily starbucks run brings him closer to getting one. i feel like boromir is that guy who gets a salted caramel cream cold brew, or a red-eye. no in between. he probably gets an irish cream cold brew during the holidays.

frodo: frodo…doesn’t love coffee. correction, book frodo LIVES off of coffee, but I think for movie frodo, coffee isn’t his favorite thing. he probably gets dragged to starbucks with merry and pippin once, and doesn’t know what to order, so he just goes for a hot chai tea latte. this starts an addiction, especially once he realizes that starbucks is a nice place to read and study. he’s always polite to the baristas and makes sure to tip extra, if he can spare it

sam: bless his little gardener heart, he cannot afford starbucks. he definitely has a morning cup of coffee with cream to fuel his caffeine deficiency. if he joins frodo to hang, or is dragged along with the other hobbits, he’ll get just that. plain coffee with a splash of cream, nothing fancy for him. he also tips extra, and if frodo’s drink is made incorrectly, he huffs and puffs and politely asks the baristas to remake it. frodo insists they charge him, but sam and the baristas fight against this.

merry: oh merry…(movie) merry likes to believe he enjoys coffee, but realizes very quickly that he only likes it when it’s covered up by the flavor of pure sugar. he cycles through quite a few regular drinks at starbucks, some of which include the mocha cookie crumble frappuccino, an iced white mocha with sweet cream cold foam and caramel drizzle, or maybe a hazelnut latte with two extra pumps (to cover up the bitter coffee, obviously).

pippin: pippin does not like coffee. period. does he have a caffeine addiction? yeah, but his sugar addiction is probably worse. like merry, he has a handful of go-to drinks, depending on the weather, the day, his mood, etc. any of the creme based fraps, especially vanilla bean and strawberry, tickle his fancy. he also gets a strawberry acai lemonade with no inclusions (chunks don’t sit well with him), or occasionally a blended strawberry lemonade. he also buys an entire backpack full of pastries every time he goes, so he has a snack for the road, for home, for dinner, for dessert, for—

What The Redacted Characters Would Get

(this is just my opinion, but as a barista this is also the correct opinion /j)

Shaw Pack:

David- you might think he'd just get like, a black coffee, you'd be wrong. He gets a hot white mocha triple with no whip, only sometimes he'll get it iced. Depending on how exhausted he is, he'll add more shots.

(dumb head cannon time, a regular (s) comes in and gets a hot triple white mocha and a iced triple white mocha with no whip. It's a couple, and they alternate who gets the drinks every couple days. I think it'd be kind of cute if David's dad and mom used to do the same, and now David drinks a hot triple white mocha with no whip because of his parents, specifically his dad)

Asher- he used to get pink drinks all the time, but then David realized that all the refreshers have a shit ton of caffeine, so now he gets a strawberry creme frappe with a scoop of vanilla bean powder. It's still very sweet, and a lot of sugar, but it does not have caffeine which everyone is appreciative of.

Milo- iced caramel macchiato with almond milk and a quad shot, this man is lactose intolerant and you cannot tell me otherwise. And no, he does not care that Starbucks doesn't make a 'correct' macchiato, it tastes good and has caffeine, so he doesn't care.

side note, Aggro has tried a pup cup before, it did give him explosive diarrhea (as it does to a lot of pets). Milo will never give him another one, however, sweetheart did make the mistake of feeding him one early in their relationship, and it also ended an explosive diarrhea. So Aggro is no longer allowed pup cups

Christian- Normally he gets a iced Americano, but if he's going to a pack meeting he gets a pink drink just to spite Asher.

Angel- a Connoisseur of seasonal drinks. Tries each of the seasonal releases until they find one they love, and drinks it until it's gone. If there aren't any seasonal drinks, or they don't like them, they get a peppermint mocha frappe (because yes, Starbucks does have peppermint year round)

Baabe- Iced matcha latte with caramel syrup and drizzle. Matcha has a decent amount of caffeine and Starbuck matcha is also mostly sugar, so it's a nice pick me up. If it's too cold for that, they'll get a hot chocolate.

Sweetheart- This bitch (affectionate) gets two vanilla sweet cream nitro cold brews and a venti cup of ice, bc the biggest size of nitro cold brew Starbucks can legally sell is a grande bc of all the caffeine. So this bitch (again, affectionate) gets two and pours them into one cup. Milo is very concerned for their health.

Darlin'/Tank- like sweetheart, I see them wanting/needing a shit ton of caffeine, so they also get two nitro cold brews. But they'd probably go from the salted caramel cream cold brew and would drink them separately.

Solaire Clan: (idc if canonically caffeine doesn't affect them, I make my own rules bitch)

William- Hot mocha with raspberry syrup. I know that sounds weird, but it basically tastes like chocolate strawberries. His drinks have changed over time, but currently this is his favorite.

Alexis- Blonde roast with caramel and oatmilk. This sounds simple, but fun fact: Starbucks stops brewing blonde & dark after 11am (mostly smaller stores do this), and she always comes after that and ends up having the baristas make a pour over, then bitches over how long it takes to get her drink.

Vincent- French vanilla latte, which at Starbucks is vanilla and hazelnut, so it's very sweet. He also gets it with oatmilk, just bc it tastes good. Gets it either hot or iced depending.

Sam- London fog latte, no water. I see him as a tea guy, idk. Sometimes he gets a few shots in it, but it depends.

Lovely- chai creme frappe. They like chai (even if the Starbucks chai is not even close in taste to real chai lol) and normally get it with cinnamon powder on top and in it.

D.A.M.N:

Gavin- Changes every time, since he doesn't need nutrients, he just wants sugar and fun tasting shit (this also goes for the vamps, but more for Gavin) he will make up the most random combinations, but if it's super busy he'll try to be simpler for the poor baristas. Mostly fruity combos and overly sweet frappes.

Damien- iced soy latte with 3 stevia, with a minimum of four shots, maximum he's done is, like 11 (Yes, I have put 11 shots in an espresso drink, I imagine it tasted like shit). He's basic but really just needs caffeine and something to hydrate so he'll ask for a water too.

Huxely- matcha. and if you say it tastes like grass to this man, he will say yes, it does, but he likes grass. Probably gets a matcha frappe to be specific, sometimes asks for vanilla syrup. Very sweet and caffeinated.

Lasko- here's the dilemma, tired boi needs caffeine, but anxious boi does not need caffeine. So with friends around he gets decaf, but by himself... Iced brown sugar shaking espresso with six blonde shots. No, he's not hiding his caffeine intake, he wouldn't be very good at it if he tried it lol.

Kody- tiny bitch boy (extremely hostile) gets an extra dry vanilla cappuccino, and will send it back at least once because he says "it's not dry enough".

Freelancer- strawberry acia lemonade refresher, with peach juice, no strawberry pieces, and light ice. That's their go to, however, if they need more caffeine, they will order just an iced quad espresso with liquid sugar.

Calleum- there's this weird "secret menu" item called the cotton candy frappe, which is really just a vanilla bean frap with raspberry syrup, that is what he gets, and he would also like chocolate drizzle and chocolate crumbles on top. He is not allowed to have caffeine, I don't care if it affects daemons or not, he's not allowed to have it.

Everyone else:

Aaron- boring bitch (affectionate) just gets a medium roast coffee with light cream. He wants to put the splenda in himself, I don't know why but he does. Smartass has convinced him to get an espresso frappuccino with a shot on top, he didn't hate it. So that's progress.

SmartAss- gets an espresso frappuccino, three shots, add whip. Basically an iced expresso with milk, but blended with some sugar. If it is freezing cold, they will just get it a triple expresso with heavy cream and sugar, but that is rare.

Ollie- very simple, non-fat vanilla latte, sometimes gets it iced, sometimes it's hot. However, he will always ask for a pup cup to take home for his cat (Yes, I did forget his cat's name) because unlike Aggro, it does not give Ollie's cat explosive diarrhea.

Baby- Get a sweet cream cold brew with light ice and extra sweet cream. Also asks for extra vanilla. For some reason I get vanilla flavored vibes from Ollie and Baby as a couple, not in a sexy way, just in a flavoring way. idk.

Geordie- He needs caffeine, but if he is over caffeinated his brain will basically short circuit and then he will take a two hour long nap. So he sticks to iced coffee, with sweet cream and caramel syrup. However, he also likes the hot chocolate with caramel in it as well. It depends on the day.

Cutie- iced shaken espresso with chocolate cream cold foam. The shaken expressos come with classic sweetener, which they like, and an extra shot. They will mix in the cold foam and the espresso so it tastes more like chocolate, without having to add any other syrups.

Elliot- French vanilla iced coffee with two blonde shots and soy milk. He gives me soy milk vibes, for some unknown reason. He doesn't always get the blonde shots, but more often than not he does. Iced coffee only has so much caffeine, and he has lots of work to do.

Sunshine- a medicine ball, which is another name for a honey citrus mint tea. It is jade citrus mint & peach tranquility tea, half steamed lemonade, half hot water, with honey blend. They like it because it's sweet, and doesn't have too much caffeine.

Guy- He tries all the different TikTok drinks, his favorite being an iced white mocha, sub whip for sweet cream cold foam, with caramel drizzle and lining the cup (This started being ordered like a couple months ago, and it hasn't stopped lol)

Honey- a honey almond flat white, with extra honey blend (This was not intentionally a pun, but now it is) it's sweet, but they can add as many espresso shots as they need. And they need it.

(a lot of characters are not included because I don't really know their story lines or personalities. There are some audios that I haven't listened to yet, or just won't)
