I can prove my loyalty to anyone just by pointing out I've been reading a fanfic since 2019 (it started being published in 2017!); it's 300k long, unfinished and we get one update per year, maximum (sometimes two). It's saltation by momora on ao3 and momora, if you're reading this, I absolutely love you and your writing and do not feel pressured at all to publish anything because I can be seventy five years old and I will still be reading Saltation. I used to read a ton of one direction fic and there were definitely a few that everyyyyyone recommended always and wanted to know if there was any equivalent fics for bts since I’m kinda new here. 3. A piece of music that I write to, whether general or project specific

It really just depends lol If the fic is based on a song, then I’ll listen to that specific song. For example, my Hobi imagine Don’t Let Go was loosely inspired by the En Vogue song “Don’t let Go” so I listened to that a lot. For scripted, I got the title from the Zayn song of the same name so I would listen to that a lot while writing the different chapters of scripted. For anything that’s not based on a song, then I’ll usually just listen to BTS/Kpop lol 😌

This is the first abo bts story that I read and I stayed up all night. Its an abo mixed with a soulmate au as it is divided up by the different time periods/eras that they find themselves in. My story doesn't feature male omegas, but this one does and its an interesting dynamic to see. My favorite is the viking universe as it nicely showcases characterization and growth.

@momora (AO3) Saltation

This story is so cute ♡ It isn't over fluffy but the pairing is Yoonmin so that should let you know what your in for. The world building is also unlike any I've ever seen. ABO stories tend to be on the darker side (from what I've read) & its nice to have a story that balances both elements of romance with the struggles of being an omega/alpha. I could go on and on about world-building but that includes spoilers so I just highly reccomend.

This story is just fun. The dynamic between the reader and Seokjin is cute and displays a healthy relationship between alphas & omegas (unlike my story), so I highly reccomend. Also the smut is top tier 👌

Shattered glass mosaic’s series also by cuttothequickk on AO3 ➤ I couldn't summarize this story in a sentence if i tried. this series...let me tell you there was a time in my life where I barely could go a week without reading one of the parts. this series will break the parts of you that never healed right and set them gently back into place. this is quite possibly my favorite thing ever written. if you like, angsty, mental health stuff, poly relationships and exploration and domestic fluff this is the piece for you. 

Saltation by momora on AO3  ➤ this whole story is one big ol’ cheffs kiss, the world will engross you and let me tell you you will be screaming at times. pretty long multi-chaptered too. if you like abo dynamics, slow burn, and soft yoonmin this is the fic for you. 

Sweeter than Sweet by Gimmesumsuga on AO3 and @gimmesumsuga​ on tumblr. (nsfw) ➤ this series is the goliath of fanfics. with so many twists and turns it will leave you reeling. the stamina of the writer alone is admirable and the plot even more so. i won’t spoil anymore of it because that would be too cruel. but if you like vampires, poly stuff, smut, and angst- this is a fic for you

➤ this series- lemme tell you, this fucking series is the shit, i had to add this to my rec list before I even finished it because i can already tell its going to be one of my favorite fic’s.  there is something about the characterization in this series that seems so spot, yoongi might be a little outwardly cold- but he’s actually soft as a plushie,  jin might seem a little flirtatious but if you really make it into his heart he’ll stick by you till the end. if you like yoonjin, arranged marriage AU's, mutual pinning, and fake kisses that turn real- this is the fic for you

Void by @btssavedmylifeblr  ➤ bruh, as a geologist by trade- this series gives me the fix for smut AND for sciencey things, 10/10 wish i could deleat my memories just to read it for the first time again. if you like science, smut, poly stuff, and voyuerisim this is the fic for you. 

Black and White by Centristy on AO3  ➤ in which jimin is an alpha mafia boss and yoongi is a little spitfire omega that intrigues him in the worst way. lots of heavy and angsty implications in this piece. if you like mafia fics, ABO dynamics, and Angst this is the fic for you. 

can you feel my heart? by euphoriae on AO3 ➤ in which hoseok gets his soulmate tattoo removed...by his soulmate. (really really angsty but in the end so so good, the ending will make you feel fluttery and hopeful and wish that soulmates where real. if you like soulmate aus, implications of really angsty topics, and a wholesome ending then this is the fic for you. 

Photosynthesis in the Cosmos by cuttothequickk on AO3  ➤ oh- Jungkook and yoongi are so soft in this one, this is so beautifully written and deals with mental health so well. if you like angst, love letters, and prose this is the fic for you. 

As Much as the Place Was Small (We Were Bound Together Tighter) by portscutie on AO3 ➤  in which Hoseok adopts two strays cat yoongi and puppy jimin and falls in love with both of them softly and domestically, (this was actually the first hybrid au i ever read, and it got me hooked on them in a serious way, i recently rediscovered it).  if you like hybrids, yoonminseok, slow burn, and domestic fluff this is the fic for you.  

Unfamiliars by themarmalade on AO3  ➤ in which yoongi accidentally gets turned into a cat, and hoseok rescues him, but how can a cat fall in love with his owner? will yoongi ever be human again? if you like plot twists, yearning, and slowish burn this is the fic for you. 

No Spell Can Cure Shyness (except maybe love) by MissterMaia on AO3  ➤ in which jimin is a witch and yoongi is an extremely shy cat shifter, warning: JIMIN CALLING YOONGI ‘PRETTY’ AS A PET NAME WILL MAKE YOU SQUEAL. if you like visual asthetics, descriptive writing, shy min yoongi, and sweet park jimin this is the fic for you. 

Temptations series by @yminie (nsfw) ➤ (i only linked the first part but they’re all awesome. one of the verry few smut fics that gets the nuances bdsm relationships correct. if you like poly relationships, bdsm, and sub-drop this is the fic for you. 

108° by anonymous on AO3 ➤ god this little one-shot is so sweet and yearning? there was something about namjoon’s loneliness and Jungkook’s youthfulness in this that was so charming. if you like namkook, sexual tension, hot spring sex, and touched starved namjoon this is the fic for you

First touch by flowerpicture2. Perfect fanfic. Literally changed me. Author posted it and went missing, never to post again. I respect them.

Atoms and Empty Space by AtillaTheHun (genuinely, to this day, the best fanfiction I’ve ever read in my life. The writing is magnificent.);

If you want my seal of approval for any “yoonmin bible” slash the biggest monsters in the fandom, I would go for The Songbird and the Sea. Ukiyo is not something you really want to read it (I’ve read it while it was being posted. I do cherish the experience but never again. Not for me.)

Besides Yoonmin, I’m a huge slut for Jinkook. Cherub vice is truly one of my all time favorite fics and it genuinely changed me as a person and put so much into perspective and it has a permanent mark in my heart.

No, I don’t have anything against Jikook/Taekook, love both, read both, I just never touch any of the jikook/taekook fans with a ten feet pole and I rather not rec anything because Jikook/Taekook writers are monsters and almost everything is either really good or really problematic. Or both. You never know what you are going for.

I genuinely am a person who sort of hyperfixates on a couple and doesn’t like to read anything beyond that, so it’s either Yoonmin or Jinkook for me. Which reminds me: taaffeite moths by nonheather was an insane reading and birdsong by literallies was the sweetest thing and grounding/unmoored also by literallies was genuinely the funniest thing I’ve ever read and I cannot believe I cried reading a 2k anthropomorphic fic about a boat (seokjin) being stuck at the suez canal (jungkook).

Let me see what else… I think because BTS has been such a big part of my life for so long that those first years fan crazyness sort of dimmed down. They are still very important to me, but instead of being a guiding light in my life, they are now a brilliant sunset that bathes me in hope for what is to come. I still go drink some coffee by myself at each member’s birthday and I’m counting the days to 2025, but it’s like I’m waiting for a long distance friend to come visit instead of losing my mind over seven celebrities being able to perform for me or give me new content. Which reminds me: we are boycotting hybe and we do not stand with 🛴 zionist ass, so I’m careful with any content I engage now (& truly, I’m not on any social media besides tumblr, and I rarely engage with anything hybe related here or anywhere else).
