Both Sam and Gabriel were dead, to begin with, and existing in their respective afterlives. Sam's is full of love and safe while Gabriel's is a reminder of his failings when he was alive. Slowly, the perfection of Heaven and the and the bitterness of the Empty begin to eat away at them until it becomes clear that neither of them can rest until they're together again.

favorite sabriel fics that aren't as well known or just ones you like the most?

For being such a sabriel fan you'd think I'd have an alphabetized selection of all the greatest obscure sabriel fic but truth be told i get exhausted very easily trying to find sabriel fic since gabriel is maybe the number 1 most ooc written character in fandom. (But honestly idk if i can blame them since my friend gabe is such a hard character to write.)

Anyway here's a few of the lesser known ones I like~

WEST COAST SMOKER - Stanford era Sabriel. This one is short and sweet, a nice breath of fresh air. Great characterization and late night atmosphere. The author has a lot more great Sabriel too.

What Team? - Sabriel adjacent. The fic is very short and I think speaks for itself. Very funny and cute. (To be so honest I don't remember ever reading this before but it was in my fic history so I guess I must've.)

If Boy King found Gabriel - Title says it all really. This one might be a little OOC?? but it's not too saccharine and it's a concept I really enjoy.

But Gabriel didn’t come out or speak to them. Not after a day or two or even a week. Any time he did exit the room for practical reasons—he was human now, after all—he did so when no one else was around. The only person who saw or spoke to him in those early days was Castiel, who it fell to to ferry him his meals. In turn, Castiel brought them news. “He worries me,” he admitted once as they were finishing lunch. “Sometimes he gets…confused.”

A seven sentence excerpt from my season 13 divergent fic, now tentatively titled When I Knew You Before. God knows when or if it will be anywhere close to done.

In which Sam and Gabriel head to Appalachia for a case. What starts out as something normal, a break for them both amid all of the trauma and danger, turns into an experience that will both bring them closer and have the power to possibly tear them apart.

In the final chapter, the mystery is finally solved and uncomfortable realizations are had. Gabriel and Sam face a new threat that is somehow painfully familiar, then must come to terms with the feelings it brings up in its wake.

I pulled this one out the old WIP bank, without giving too much away it’s early days Lokiel, with Loki missing stirring Gabriel into some what of a panic. Why’s he gone missing? (The clue is in the name) 👀

Gabriel did not debase himself with pleas of mercy, he did not throw himself at his Father’s feet and beg for his love back, and he most certainly would not apologise for what he had done. No, he raged against him. How cruel and capricious to allow Gabriel the beauty of knowing such a life of self fulfilment, all was his Father’s plan and all was written in the mind of his Lord before he had even come to be, and God had ordained that Gabriel would sin and he would be punished for trying to fill the hole his absence left. He rattled with the rage of Eve, ordained to eat the fruit and be cast out into cruelty for doing what God wanted. He was a horrible Father. This is what he does, and Gabriel was a fool for thinking his own kind of karma would not catch up with him eventually, for God sees all even if he had turned a blind eye to his behaviour for a time. And when he was just about out of profanities to call God he piled the memories into his arms to cast them into the flames...
