Love Opens a Portal to God - The Radhasoami Faith is a Gospel of Love - Spiritual Awakening Radio Podcast
Tumblr media
"A heart devoid of love or affection is as hard as stone, and does not form a suitable receptacle for the light of Heavenly Grace and Mercy... Where pure love dwells there sheds the light of Grace, as it forms a link with the Spirit or Love Current from It's Source, the Supreme Being...  Love or the power of attraction is the basis of the whole creation and the cause of its sustenance and preservation... Every wave of love rising in a lover’s heart brings tidings of goodness and joy from the Beloved, and every thought springing up in such a heart is a harbinger of good works and good services for the sake of the Beloved." "In a nut-shell, the Radhasoami Faith is a Gospel of Love. Love towards the holy feet of Radhasoami Dayal [Merciful Lord of the Soul], love towards the Guru of the time and love with all the human beings is its cardinal message." (Agam Prasad Mathur, Petals of Love)
"The practice of Surat Shabd Yoga is dependent on the love generated in the devotee's heart for the Supreme Being Radhasoami Dayal [Merciful Lord of the Soul, Anami Purush]. The Radhasoami Faith [Sant Mat] therefore advocates the blending of Yoga with Bhakti [devotion]." (Agam Prasad Mathur)
Sant Mat Devotional Practices
"It should be noted that all the following activities are included in devotional practices (Abhyas):
(1) Sumiran [Simran: Repetition of the Holy Name];
(2) Sumiran and Dhyan [Repetition of the Holy Name along with Contemplation of the Holy Form];
(3) Bhajan [Listening to the Sound Current];
(4) Recitation of holy books or listening to their recital in Satsang intelligently;
(5) Discussing the principles of the Radhasoami Faith or listening to such discussion;
(6) Thinking about and reflecting on matters pertaining to the Radhasoami Faith and its practices and pondering them; and
(7) Examining the ways of one's mind and senses daily, keeping them under control as far as possible." (Huzur Maharaj, Prem Patra Radhasoami, Volume I)

Why tulsi is not offered to shiva
Tumblr media
The gods and goddesses of Indian culture are the subject of interesting tales and beliefs. The thirty-three crore deities in Hindu faith are listed in the ancient Puranas. The most important deities are thought to be Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva.
According to the Puranas, there was a demon named Jalandhar and his wife Vrinda, who was a renowned devotee of Lord Vishnu. She was a highly pious wife and adored her demon husband Jalandhar with all of her heart. The Devis and Devtas had a terrible time living in Jalandhar because of its brutality. The Devi-Devtas were unable to harm Jalandhar because of Vrinda's powerful prayers, which kept her husband safe.
The Devi-Devta turned to Lord Shiva for help when they were unable to kill the demon on their own. To defeat the demon Jalandhar and his wife Vrinda, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu cleverly prepared a plan. By taking the appearance of Vrinda's husband Jalandhar, Lord Vishnu tricked his devoted follower. Vrinda bowed down to Lord Vishnu, thinking of him as her husband. Her virtuousness was shattered the instant she touched Lord Vishnu's feet. When Lord Shiva and Jalandhar engaged in battle, the purity of Vrinda was broken, and the force preserving him was destroyed. As a result, Lord Shiva killed Jalandhar the demon with ease.
When Vrinda realised she hadn't touched her husband's feet, she asked to Lord Vishnu to appear in his original form. After totally losing her virtue, Vrinda lost control of herself and cursed Lord Vishnu, who the Puranas refer to as Saligram, by turning him into stone. The demon Jalandhar's demise remedied the issue affecting all Devi-Devtas. Vrinda was granted a wish to reincarnate as Holy Basil. Vrinda refused to worship Shiva with any of her body parts because she was aware that Lord Shiva had killed her husband.
Because of this, Holy Basil or Tulsi leaves are not offered to Lord Shiva, yet they are offered to Lord Vishnu. for the puja to be considered complete for Lord Vishnu.

Hindu temple in closed N.Y. church raises questions
A parish in the Diocese of Rochester sold a closed Catholic church this January to the Bhakti Marga Hindu movement, to be renovated into the first U.S. temple of the Hindu group.
Tumblr media
After renovation, the church will be used for Hindu worship, and will include iconography of Hindu deities and other Hindu religious symbols alongside the Catholic religious symbols already in the building. The group will also display a parish statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary alongside a Hindu goddess on the property.
The conversion of a Catholic church into a space for Hindu worship raises questions about the canonical relegation of the church to “profane,” or non-Catholic, use, and about its sale to a non-Catholic religious organization.
The Diocese of Rochester, New York, announced Nov. 6, 2021, that Our Lady of Lourdes Church in nearby Elmira would be relegated to profane use, a technical term in canon law, effective Nov. 15.
“Once a church is relegated it is no longer used for Catholic liturgies and can be put up for sale.  We will remove all sacred objects as well as other items that may be useful in carrying out the mission of the parish,” the diocese said in its announcement.
Bhakti Marga purchased Our Lady of Lourdes in January. Days after the purchase, the group announced plans to turn the property, which includes the church building and a convent, into an ashram, or spiritual hermitage.
Tumblr media
The church itself will become a Hindu temple, Bhakti Marga explained.
“This ashram is, or was, a church dedicated to Mother Mary of Lourdes, and it was a convent for some nuns. So it’s beautiful that we will be able to build on the spirituality, and the love, and the grace that was already there,” Bhakti Marga’s Swami Tulsidas announced in a January YouTube video.
youtube
Tulsidas explained that the space will feature a tall icon of Narasimha, a man-lion avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu, in what was once the church’s sanctuary, along with icons of other Hindu religious figures.
Tumblr media
“We’re going to honor the past by keeping the stained glass windows, and I am so happy to say that the Catholic Church has let us keep the main Mother Mary,” Tulsidas added.
A large statue of Our Lady of Lourdes will be “placed with Kali in the residence way,” the former convent for religious sisters on the property, the swami said.
Kali is the Hindu goddess of death.
Tumblr media
The worship space will also hold more than 1,000 saligrams, which in are stones worshiped in Hinduism because they are believed to contain a manifestation of the god Vishnu.
Our Lady of Lourdes was a parish church until 2018, when three parishes in Elmira were merged into one, amid declining Mass attendance and revenues. But while the parishes were merged operationally into Holy Name of Jesus Parish, both the Our Lady of Lourdes and nearby Sts. Peter and Paul churches remained open as parish worship sites until their relegation to secular use in November 2021.
The renovation raises questions about the diocesan decision to sell the church to a non-Catholic religious group, and about the canonical process observed during its closure.
Canon law permits a diocesan bishop to relegate a church to “profane, but not sordid use” if it can no longer be used for sacred worship, is regarded as beyond repair, or if “other grave causes suggest [it] can no longer be used for divine worship.”
In order to close a parish church, the bishop must consult with his diocesan presbyteral council, and obtain the consent of the parish pastor.
Rochester Bishop Salvatore Matano said in his November announcement that he consulted Rochester’s presbyteral council Nov. 3, 2021, about the church closure.
But it is not clear whether Matano indicated to the presbyteral council that the building could be converted into a space for non-Christian worship which could be regarded as “sordid use” in canon law.
Profane use of a church building generally means it can be sold for a secular purpose: renovation into apartments, a restaurant, or retail space. But canon law prohibits a church to be sold or leased for “sordid” use, which is understood to mean sacrilegious, immoral, or scandalous purpose.
Canon law requires that the potential future use of a church building be considered when it is sold. Dioceses which closed a significant number of churches in recent years have developed vetting processes to ensure that a church building won’t be repurposed for offensive use after it is sold.
It is also not clear why the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary to be displayed alongside the goddess Kali was not removed from the church at the time other blessed and sacred objects were.
According to Tulsidas, the temple will be inaugurated when completed by guru Swami Vishwananda, Bhakti Marga’s leader.
Vishwananda, founder of Bhakti Marga movement, has faced allegations of sexual misconduct in Germany, and is a controversial figure in some Hindu traditions.
The Bhakti Marga movement, which claims to have 30 temples worldwide, regards Vishwananda as “the source of infinite grace.”
“He answers prayers and removes internal obstacles to a person’s spiritual progress,” according to the movement.
The Rochester diocese has not yet responded to The Pillar’s request for comment.

Everything You Need ToKnow About Char Dham Yatra
Hindu community members attach great religious significance to the Char Dham Yatra. One of India's most revered pilgrimage routes opens up at the same time each year for pilgrims to travel to the four most important Hindu shrines in Uttarakhand. Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath are the names of these four Himalayan shrines. From the auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya in the Chaitya month till Bhai Dooj, the Char Dham Yatra is open. The Hindu religion holds high regard for all of these places. Every Hindu can visit religious places at least once in their lifetime with the help of char dham tour packages to find enlightenment.
Importance Of Char Dham Yatra For Hindu Devotees
In Uttarakhand, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath are the four main pilgrimage destinations that make up the Chardham Yatra. Whether they are coming from Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, or Delhi, they all take different routes. Any one of these locations is a great place to begin your spiritual journey because they are well connected to major Indian cities by aeroplanes and motorable roads. The Chardham Yatra, according to Hindu mythology, is fortunateand ought to be travelled in a clockwise direction from West to East.
Visitors must first go to Haridwar, the starting location of the Chardham Yatra, in order to arrive at the four holy shrines. By selecting the best char dham tour packages, they start their travel in Yamunotri, proceed to the famous Gangotri, then to Kedarnath Dham, and conclude it at Badrinath Dham. These four temples are visited in the sequence they are during the Chardham Yatra for a broad range of reasons, each of which has a special significance.
Significance of Yamunotri Dham Yatra
Tumblr media
The initial of these is called Yamunotri Dham, and it is situated close to the Yamuna River's source. Yamraj had assured her on Bhai Dooj that anybody who bathes in the water would not be transported to Yamlok and would consequently attain forgiveness, considering that according to Hindu mythology, Yamuna is Yamraj's sister.
Significance of Gangotri Dham Yatra
Tumblr media
The Ma Gangotri Temple, which honours the Goddess Ganga, is well-known for its location on the banks of the sacred Ganges River. The Gangotri Dham, the second stop on the Yatra, is located at a height of 3200 metres above sea level. The temple is located in Gomukh, the holy River Ganga's source. It is said that bathing in the Ganges River's sacred water cleanses one of all impurities. According to mythology, King Bhagirath spent much time here in meditation before Ganga suddenly emerged. The rock where he is supposed to have meditated is displayed in the temple. You can visit this religious place by booking char dham tour packages.
Importance of Kedarnath Dham
Tumblr media
Among the 12 jyotirlingas can be seen in the Kedarnath Baba shrine, which is well known for it. The holy site is devoted to Lord Shiva and is a popular destination for those who follow him and seek his blessings. Among the most important shrines in the nation is Kedarnath Temple, which is extremely well known. The PanchKedar pilgrimage of India includes the temples of Kedarnath, Kalpeshwar, Tungnath, Madmaheshwar, and Rudranath. This is encircled by the hypnotic snow-capped mountains that house Mount Kailash. Adi Shankaracharya is credited with constructing the fabled temple at Kedarnath in 800 AD.
Significance of Badrinath Dham
Tumblr media
With the assistance of char dham tour packages, the Badrinath Temple, the most famous of the four temples, is the final to be visited throughout the yatra.The temple, which honours Lord Vishnu, is situated beside the Alakananda River. Additionally, Adi Shankaracharya is thought to have achieved enlightenment there.It is assumed that the Badrinath received its name from the numerous "berries" that can be found there. In Sanskrit, these berries are known as "Badri." The King of Gharwal had a statue of Lord Badrinarayan carved of Saligram stone removed from the Alaknanda River and placed in the current Badrinath temple.It belongs to Lord Vishnu's 108 DivyaDesams. A black stone Vishnu statue is worshipped in the temple.
Best Time ToTravel For Char Dham
Only half of the year, from April or May to October or November, is dedicated to visiting all four of the Char Dham temples: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Badrinath, and Kedarnath.As the Char Dham experiences summers, the months of April, May, and the early half of June offer nice weather. As June's latter half, July, and August are prone to rains that may cause frequent landslides in the Char Dham, the rainy months are not the best time to come there.
Due to their high altitudes and severe winter snowfall, Char Dham's temples must be closed throughout the winter months. Therefore, April, May, October, and November are the only months that are perfect for visiting Char Dham with char dham tour packages. Additionally, the deity of Kedarnath is moved to the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath during the winter when the holy gates of Kedarnath Temple are closed.
Conclusion
For those looking to find enlightenment, the Char Dham Yatra is regarded as a must-do pilgrimage. The name "Char Dham," according to Hindu mythology, was first used by the ancient Hindu philosopher Shri Adi Shankaracharya. Additionally, it is assumed that one must make this journey at least once in their lifetime. These four temples are located in an area renowned for their alluring mountains covered in a deep blanket of snow that you can easily explore with Char Dham tour packages.

Saligrama stones for Rama & Sita deities at Ayodhya
#RamMandir #Rama #AyodhyaTemple #Hinduism
Two highly old Saligrama stones (शालिग्राम शिला) from the Kali Gandaki (काळी गण्डकी) river in Nepal are slated to be used to make the deity of Lord Sri Rama and the deity of mother Sri Sita Devi in the Sri Rama Mandir being built in Ayodhya.
The only river where Saligrama stone (शालिग्राम शिला) is found is Kali Gandaki (काळी गण्डकी), which originates from the Damodar Kunda (basin) and joins the Ganges.
The stone blocks were brought from the banks of the Kali Gandaki river: one is 26 ton and the other is 14 ton.
Before the Saligram stones were being taken out, Kshama Pooja (क्षमा पूजा) (pooja for forgiveness), a special and divine pooja was performed in Kali Gandaki river.
Divine and many thanks to both the Governments of Nepal and India for this great work.
Jai Sri Rama

Sacred Badrinath
Badarinath is one of the holy shrines for Vaishnavites among the 108 divya desams incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Badrinath town is also the part of Panch Badri temples including Yog Dhyan Badri, Bhavishya Badri, Adi Badri and Vriddha Badri, along with Badrinath temple.
Tumblr media
About Temple
The main entrance gate of Badarinath temple is colourful and imposing popularly known as Singhdwar. The temple is approximately 50 feet tall with a small cupola on top, covered with a gold gilt roof. The Badarinath temple is divided into three parts (a) The Garbha Griha or the sanctum sanctorum (b) The Darshan Mandap where rituals are conducted and (c) The Sabha Mandap where pilgrims assemble.
At the Badarinath Mandir Gate, directly opposite the main Idol of Lord himself, is seated idol of Bird Garud, vehicle / carrier of Lord Badarinarayan. Garud os seen is sitting position and in prayer with his hands folded. The walls and pillars of the mandapa are covered with intricate carvings.
The Garbha Griha portion has its canopy covered with a sheet of gold and houses Lord Badari Narayan, Kuber (God of wealth), Narad rishi, Udhava, Nar and Narayan. The complex has 15 idols. Especially attractive is the one-metre high image of lord Badarinath, finely sculpted in black stone. According to legend Shankara discovered a black stone image of Lord Badarinarayan made of Saligram stone in the Alaknanda River. He originally enshrined it in a cave near the Tapt Kund hot springs. In the sixteenth century, the King of Garhwal moved the murti to the present loction of the temple. It represents Lord Vishnu seated in a meditative pose called Padmasan.
Darshan Mandap: Lord Badari Narayan is armed with Conch and Chakra in two arms in a lifted posture and two arms rested in Yogic Pose. Badarinarayan is seen under the Badari tree, flanked by Kuber and Garuda, Narad, Narayan and Nar. As you look, standing to the right side of Badarinarayana is Uddhava. To the far right side are Nara and Narayana. Narada Muni is kneeling in front on the right side and is difficult to see. On the left side are Kubera-the god of wealth, and a silver Ganesh. Garuda is kneeling in front, to the left of Badarinarayana.
Sabha Mandap: It is a place in the Temple complex where pilgrims and pilgrims assemble.
History
The name of the Badarinath tirtha originates from local word Badari which is a type of a wild berry. It is said that when Lord Vishnu sat in penance in these mountains, His consort Goddess Laxmi took the form of a berry tree and shaded Him from the harsh sun. It is not only the dwelling place of Lord Vishnu Himself but also home to countless pilgrims, saints and sages, who meditate here in search of enlightenment.
"According to Skand Puran, the idol of Lord Badarinath was recovered by Adiguru Shankaracharya from Narad Kund and was re-enshrined in the 8th century A.D. in this temple."
According to Hindu Tradition, Badarinath often called as Badari Vishal, was re-established by Adi Shri Shankaracharaya to revieve the lost prestige of Hinduism and to unite nation in one bond. It was built in the ages when Buddhism was spreading in the Himalayan range and there was worry that Hinduism was losing it's importance and glory. So the Adi Sankaracharya took it upon himself to bring back the glory of Hinduism and built temples in the Himalayas for the Hindu Gods of Shiva and Vishnu. The Badarinath temple is one such shrine and is richly infused with sacred accounts from numerous ancient Hindu scriptures. Be it the puranic story of the Pandav brothers, along with Draupadi, going past on their last pilgrimage by ascending the slopes of a peak near Badarinath called Swargarohini or the 'Ascent to Heaven' or the visit by Lord Krishna and other great sages, these are just some of the many tales which we associate with this holy tirtha.
The famed Skanda Purana describes more about the place as "There are several sacred shrines in heaven, on earth, and in hell; but there is no shrine like Badarinath."
According to Vamana Purana, the sages Nara and Narayana 'fifth avatar of Lord Vishnu' performed Penances here.
Great sages of yore like Kapila Muni, Gautam, Kashyap have performed penance here, Bhakta Narada attained salvation and Lord Krishna loved this region, medieval religious scholars like Adi Shankaracharya, Ramanujacharya, Sri Madhavacharya, Sri Nityananda have come here for learning and quiet contemplation and so many still continue to do even today.

"A heart devoid of love or affection is as hard as stone, and does not form a suitable receptacle for light of Heavenly Grace and Mercy." Bhakti is a Sanskrit word for love and devotion, and love is the quintessential truth of all religion, spirituality and mysticism. In the New Testament Saint Paul said that "love is the most excellent way." The Bhagavad Gita and the other world scriptures say the same thing. The mystic-lovers of history have taught that "God is an infinite Ocean of Love and each soul is a drop from that Ocean." By approaching simran (mantra, a spiritual exercise of repeating God's Name or Names), prayer, the singing of hymns, or meditation with an attitude of love and devotion (prem and bhakti), we elevate our consciousness. The practice of love brings us into harmony with the Supreme Being, our own true nature, and with all souls in creation.
Bhakti is the Path of Love; it is heart-centered, focused on the cultivation of love between the soul and the Oversoul, between lover and the Beloved. India's Nirguna Bhakti Sants (Saints) are madly in love with the Supreme Being, the Ocean of Love. Their relationship with the Supreme Being is that of Divine romance.
This is a translation of a hymn (shabd) by the 19th century mystic Sant Tulsi Sahib:
"Whose soul is attached to the Word, revels
ever in cosmic flight;
Revels ever in cosmic flight, and realizing the
Lord, plays with Him.
The mystery of the Inaccessible and the secret
of the scriptures he unravels:
He reaches his Home within and its Essence
he comes to know;
In the lotus feet of the Beloved he sees
his true destination.
The happily married woman rejoices with her
Spouse every moment, O Tulsi,
For her soul is attached to the Word, and
revels ever in cosmic flight."
The compositions of Sant Tulsi Sahib are bhakti (devotional) in tone, and at the same time allude to the mystical experiences of the soul achieving cosmic flight by becoming attached to the Word -- hearing the Celestial Music of the Spheres during meditation. Through the Divine Word the mystery of the Inaccessible Plane (called by mystics "Agam Lok") is made accessible. Shri Tulsi described his experience of the Beloved Lord as a marriage consummated in mystical union. This merger of lover and Beloved is the final destination of lovers. Sant Dadu, a Master in the Guru Kabir lineage said of this oneness:
"The lover is converted into the Beloved.
That indeed is called true love.
Forgetting his own ego, he remains
absorbed in the One."
In their spiritual hymns of love and devotion (prem and bhakti) mystic-devotees sing of the power that the Spirit of Love has to transport souls back to the original Home of all souls -- the Ocean of Love and Compassion (Anurag Sagar). By approaching spiritual practice with love, we will be elevated in spirit to places beyond our wildest dreams! And for those who are skeptical of their own ability to experience the Way of the Saints, Swami Ji Maharaj said in one of his hymns:
"It does not matter if your bhakti is imperfect.
Perform bhakti! Radhasoami [the Lord of the Soul]
graciously declares that you should perform bhakti
in whichever way you can. Fear not. He will grant
you the Treasure of Love. You will be a recipient
of the Gift of Love."
(Sar Bachan Radhasoami Poetry, Vol. II, Agra)

Saligram is actually the name of the village on the banks of the river Gandaki, where the holy stones are picked up. The name is derived from the hut (sala) of the sage Salankayana, who beheld the form of Vishnu in a tree outside his hut (Varaha-purana). This hut was on the banks of the Gandaki, and it was in that particular spot that these sacred stones were found in abundance. The stones were therefore called Salagrama.
Shaligram is a sacred stone found in Gandaki river found in the Muktinath area of Nepal. Sutikshan means a person whose intellect is sharp about Bhagwan. There are many in the world with sharp minds, but in reality they are fools for being engaged in the world. Sutikshan has a conscious intellect. Sutikshan is simple, he serves sage Agast. Today he went to graze a cow by tying the Saligram Bhagwan (Holy round black stone) in a cloth. There he got hungry after seeing a blackberry tree on the bank of a river. But how to pluck them? When he didn't find any stone, he remembered the Saligram Bhagwan tied in the cloth. He used the same and got the fruits, but Saligram Bhagwan fell into the river. Now if you use Bhagwan to get something, you will get the desired fruit, but Bhagwan will go away. Bhagwan says you don't want me, you want from me. Bhagwan dosen't meet the one who wants from Him, Bhagwan meets the one who wants Him only. When Bhagwan fell in the river, Sutikshan cried a lot, didn't cry because of the drowning of Bhagwan, cried out of fear of Guru ji. In the evening, when he reached the ashram, he placed a similar berry in place of Saligram Bhagwan. If you place your desires in place of Bhagwan, you will be scolded. In the morning when Guru ji started applying sandalwood to Bhagwan, the scab came down. Guru ji made a voice- Hey Sutikshan! What have you done to Bhagwan? Sutikshan said- You yourself rub sandalwood on Him every day. Now what should I do if He melts? Guru ji hit him with his stick and drove him away, saying- Run from here. You have lost my Bhagwan. Now if you want to came back, come with Bhagwan only. Sutikshan felt very sad, pained, and guilty. He immediately resolved that no matter what I have to do, I will find Bhagwan, then Guru ji will forgive me. Lokeshanand says that tomorrow we will discuss that how did Sutikshan find Bhagwan. Not Saligram Bhagwan, but the real Bhagwan. Bhagwan Ram. http://shashwatatripti.wordpress.com #ramrajyamission #ramcharitmanas https://www.instagram.com/p/CWzj5e8BaAz/?utm_medium=tumblr
