1. what is your favorite color to work with? i think i like shading blue & white best! u can really push the colors a lot and add colorful highlights and really get a mood going. uhmm my favorite thing in the world is doing the eye whites a bright light blue like winter blue though. im addicted

3.what song(s) do you listen to when you do art? LOTS! i always have my playlists on OR for my comic work (thumbnailing & typesetting aside) i put youtube videos and podcasts in the BG to keep me focused. ill pick a playlist depending on my drawings mood/subject, my OWN mood, + if theres something special that day... like today is akagi day so its akagi playlist lock down uhm many such cases.

6.tag your favorite artists/inspirations! every piece in my #colors tag is there for inspiration... i also have a short #design tag cuz i always forget what my chara design insp tag is. i love uhm @/fashion-runways for outfit inspiration, scott pilgrim (comics) by bryan lee o malley are forever a huge comic-making inspiration, i also draw a lot from usogui - sako toshio and ranma - rumiko takahashi are two huge sources of inspiration for posing. love @/obligatorymorningfart too for.. chara design, composition, humor. uhm i draw a lot of inspiration from oil paintings as well i always lean super close in museums to stare at the brushtrokes & what order the colors were layered in.. i love oil paintings. DETECTIVE CONAN is also a huge writing inspiration though ive strayed very far away from murder mysteries i still have it in my heart. and of course FKMT's gambling fiction is among the best of the genre, and saw made me understand something fundamental about death games. i could go on but one last honorary mention to all the webcomics from the 2010s that people would upload on their own site for free, its all i ever read when i was growing up and its why i started making more fleshed out OCs and thinking about their stories. and finally the very first comic i fell in love with, gaston lagaffe :)

here they are... my awfuls... golden (left) & moki (right) r some of my oldest OCs, moki is the OG but im so biased to golden nowadays cause he SUCKS. they used to date, hes still bitter/heartbroken about it but shes so over it and thinks hes so funny hilarious when hes being entirely serious. they both suck honestly

The prompt I picked was about the three hanging out at a Valentines Day party, and I thought it would be fun to set it in the Maisonette.

Would Tony even want Niko and Johnny in there? I don't know, I just thought it would be fun to come up with how the Maisonette would hypothetically be decorated for VDay.

Discussion Board 1.2

The discussion on Filipino narratives has taught me that our country’s culture should be valued and must not be forgotten. For instance, the topic on Salidummay proved that colonialism didn’t take the existing musical practices of Northern Luzon away from our culture. This is because Filipinos didn’t let it die—until today, people continue to create different renditions of this traditional song, which proves that the Philippines, indeed, has a very rich culture that should be preserved.

Apart from this, the discussion on gender representations in the Philippine print advertisements highlighted that in modern times, having superior and inferior roles in advertising should not be tolerated because it leaves an impact on its viewers—hence, we should break these stereotypes and be more mindful. As part of a generation living in the digital age, this is an important discussion to talk about because of the media’s powerful influence.

Discussion Board 1.2

From the discussions on different Filipino narratives we had last synchronous meeting, I have learned that culture and realities affect the way people digest what is being communicated to them.

It also helped that we dived into the past by discussing The Myth of the Sleeping Hero: Three Philippine Cases, Salidummay’s Hybridity and Congregational Singing, and Rizal’s Morga and Views of Philippine History to better understand discussions on Selective Memory and Collective Forgetting and Analyzing Gender Representation in Philippine Print Ads. With all these discussed, I learned how our realities have a large impact on the way we understand and perceive things, therefore, it's a great help in the way we weave all these culture, information, and history into a cohesive story.

Every image created and presented tells a story and message, just like how we perceive the realities we see in advertisements and the media. Collectively, all the things discussed help Communication students like us how to be effective storytellers.
