Home Run Confessions

Pairing: Seungmin x Reader

Word count: 2,060

Content warnings: Fluff, alcohol, drinking

Summary: You don’t always understand the things that Seungmin talks about with you but you love listening to his passionate words. When you confess this to Seungmin he’s surprised and needs to know the reason why you love listening to him even when the information is over your head.

The atmosphere in the Sajik baseball stadium is relaxed and easygoing as the baseball game plays on while the sun slowly starts to set. It’s the sixth inning and Seungmin smiles to himself as he leans back in his seat while taking a sip of his draft beer. Just then a large group of the crowd begins to boo and you nudge Seungmin’s shoulder slightly as you lean forward trying to see what it was that the crowd was booing at. He smiled fondly at you as you sat back in your seat, already turning your head to him and he immediately knew that you were going to ask him what happened.

Seungmin had bought the baseball game tickets because he wanted to enjoy a relaxed evening with you doing something that didn’t involve his idol lifestyle, he wanted to share his love of baseball with you on a whole other level than just watching a game on television together. He always thought that going to a game physically was much better than watching it on a screen, it was the excitement and the air within the stadium that made the game that much more enjoyable. Not to mention he loved sharing his knowledge with you about things that he was passionate about. But now as he watched your confused face turn to him he couldn’t stop the soft smile forming on his face.

“Seungminnn, what happened?” you asked confused in a soft whine and he chuckled at your tone, your eyes are a little glassy and he can tell by the soft whine in your voice that you’re starting to feel the effects of the beer that you both have been sipping for a few hours.

“The umpire keeps calling foul balls on this batter when they should be considered good hits.” he explains to you as you lean closer into his side. Your eyes are darting around his face as you listen to his words before your head tilts to the side in confusion and he feels his heart race slightly at how adorable you look as you try to understand the game.

“Why would he call foul balls on good hits?” you asked with a furrowed brow as you turn back to the game quickly before turning your face back to him waiting for his explanation.

“It’s all at the discretion of the umpire. He’s the one who makes the call on whether a hit is a good one or a bad one.” Seungmin explains and bites his lips when you huff annoyed at that fact. He loves it when you ask him questions about things you don’t fully understand, it makes him feel closer to you to be able to share information with you and help you understand things easier. Plus you always look so cute when you try to process the information that he does give you.

“So you mean to tell me that it all falls to one man to call a good hit?” you ask incredulously before you huff once again and turn back to the game. Seungmin bursts out laughing at your soured mood just as an older man behind the two of you leans forward to Seungmin.

“I feel her outrage.” the man jokes and Seungmin nods his head quickly in amusement as he looks at the man before looking back at you. You’re too focused on the game now, your eyebrows are furrowed over your eyes in concentration and you have a slight pout on your face which Seungmin finds so cute.

As the game continues you periodically ask Seungmin questions about the game while the two of you enjoy more beer as well as snacks to fill your stomachs. It’s later in the game and he’s passionately explaining something to you about the Lotte Giants team and you’ve grown quiet as your eyes dart around his face in silence as you listen to him talking. He realizes that you’re not truly taking in the information he’s giving you and can tell that it’s only going in one ear and out the other as he smirks softly at you.

“Pay attention Yeobo, you’re not even listening to me.” Seungmin scolds you gently and watches amused as your eyes focus on him for a moment before you chuckle softly at his cute pout, your eyes sparkling fondly at him. The lazy soft smile that slips onto your face lets Seungmin know that you’ve definitely moved into the tipsy stage of drinking.

“I haven’t been paying attention to all the information you’ve been telling me for hours Agi.” you tell him goodnaturedly as you pat his knee gently while smiling warmly at him. “I just love hearing you talk passionately about the things you love.” you add after a moment looking very proud of yourself as you smile and tilt your head from side to side before turning back to the baseball game. Seungmin sits there staring at you in shocked silence, his eyes trace over your profile while his mind races with your drunken admission. You love hearing him talk about what he’s passionate about? Needing to know more about your admission he leans in close to your side and nudges you gently, catching your attention for a moment but you ultimately focus on the game.

“Do you do that a lot with me? Just listen to me talk about things I love?” he asks softly and you smile brightly at his question. He’s eager for your answer but he still feels shy asking you about it, he wants to know but he doesn’t. He’s always wondered why you let him talk your ear off about the things that he loves and that he’s passionate about, not many other people do it so he’s always been curious why you do.

“It only happens when I don’t understand the things you talk about.” you tell him in a soft confession as you lean closer to him so that he could hear you over all the other noise in the stadium. His eyes focus on you but you’re watching the game, your eyes dart from player to player just watching where the ball goes. “Sometimes you have so much information about the things you love and it’s so far over my head that I can’t keep up. But I love it when you share things with me about the things you’re so passionate about. It just helps me understand you more even if I don’t understand completely.” you tell him honestly and Seungmin blushes softly at your words as his heart begins to race even faster in his chest.

The way you were talking about him in such a sweet adoring tone made him feel warm inside as his heart raced with excitement. “You know sometimes after these types of conversations where I don’t fully understand the things you love I’ll go home and google and research them. Just so that the next time I’m around you and we talk about things I can better understand and be able to keep up and share things that I’ve learned.” you admit and Seungmin swears if he wasn’t in a stadium full of people he’d kiss you. He never knew that you took to heart all the information that he told you about things, he always thought that it was just a simple conversation. But to find out that you put so much effort into learning about the things that he’s passionate about makes him melt from within.

Just then you lean forward and pull out your cell phone from your back pocket before leaning back drunkenly into his side while laughing softly at your clumsy movement. Seungmin smiles fondly at you while helping you sit up right before he watches you open your phone and pull up your notes app. “Look I even make a list of the things that we talk about that I know I need to research.” you tell him proudly as you show him your note while looking up at him with a proud grin on your face.

Seungmin gently takes your phone from you and scrolls down the list that you’ve created, he can see baseball is at the top of the list as well as basketball, creative writing, korean recipes and other various items that you both have talked about together. He can feel the warmth within him intensifying at how meaningful this is to him that you’ve kept track of things to research and look up just so you have something to talk about with him. A feeling of giddiness creeps up within him and he grins teasingly at you as an idea forms in his head like a bubble, it’s slowly growing and the urge to enact the idea is too much for him and he turns to you with amused eyes.

“You must be in love with me to put in this much effort about things that I talk about.” he says jokingly expecting you to joke along with him but when you turn to him with a frank look on your face he’s floored. “Wait, are you in love with me?” he asks hurriedly as he leans up against your side completely invading your personal space feeling the need to be as close to you as he possibly could be when he hears your answer.

“Have been for quite a while, Seungminnie.” you say nonchalantly while gently tapping your forehead to his. “It makes me happy and warm inside to share these things with you even if I don’t fully understand them.” you confess softly to him as your eyes slip gently closed and Seungmin is cursing himself for being out in public with how much the desire to kiss grips him. He leans back into his seat dragging you as close as possible with the small arm rest between you two silently wondering if you would still confess to him while sober.

After the game has finished Seungmin guides you out of the stadium and towards the train station. As he walks at your side while you happily chatter about how it was fun to watch his favorite team win their game he wonders if he should hold your hand or if that would be too bold for him to do. Just as he’s trying to make a decision you make it for him by wrapping your arm around his and linking your hands together. Seungmin blushes softly as your action while you happily cuddle into his side while beaming happily up at him.

When the two of you reach the train station he stands close to you and far away from the edge of the platform so that he can protect you from anything. You’re still snuggled into his side happily and are resting your head on his shoulder gently as you both fall in a peaceful quiet.

“Thanks for inviting me to the ball game Seungminnie. I had a lot of fun.” you tell him sweetly and he smiles down at you softly while nodding his head. He then, feeling the warmth of your affection, leans down slightly and presses a soft chaste kiss to your forehead just as you yawn widely.

“Thanks for putting in the effort to understand and share these things with me.” he tells you softly which causes you to turn your face up to him while smiling brightly.

“Of course Seungminnie, I love you, I’ll always put in the extra effort for you.” you tell him dazedly and Seungmin blushes brightly at your confession before he wraps his arms around you tightly and guides you to stand in front of him while wrapped in his embrace.

“You better confess to me tomorrow when you’re sober, pabo.” he says softly, not wanting to sound as affected as he actually was about your confession. But knows he said the wrong thing as soon as you look up at him with sparkling eyes.

“I’ll tell you every day you let me, that I love you.” you tell him sweetly and Seungmin melts into you and buries his face into your neck which makes you chuckle and flinch away from him.

“Accept my love Yeobo. Don’t run away from me.” he teases you while continuing to bury his face in your neck as you both chuckle softly at each other.

👤: Jeongin-ah, aren't you from Busan? You have to come to Sajik to cheer on Lotte.

🦊: I'll have to go sometime...

👤: Yes, I'm a Bronze!!

📸: Kim Seungmin, who equips weird gear and chooses weird positions but still manages to lane (run the game) vs. Lee Yongbok, who's a Bronze and stays with his screen fixed. And among them, the unluckiest is Yang Jeongin, who plays with both of them.

🦊: Based on Overwatch Kim Seungmin, who enjoys taking hits in the game. Lee Yongbok, who only chooses damage-dealing (DPS) roles. And Yang Jeongin, the healer who is dying from how difficult it is.

👤: I'm doing art for the entrance exams with a close friend, but he draws better than me and has more skill, so I feel really behind, and it makes me sad. Could you give me just a few words of comfort?

🦊: It's okay, you can do well. You don't need to compare yourself. You are you, and depending on how hard you try, the results will follow positively. You're doing well. 💕

👤: I've been thinking a lot about the future lately. I keep pondering how to find a balance between reality and my ideals, but for now, it's not easy to find an answer. I can't even clearly think about what I should work on in the future. Will I be able to achieve it? Will people need me? I feel insecure, I have a lot of worries, and I even feel like I'm slowly losing interest in the things I used to like. Still, I'm sure there will come a day when everything will get better. As Minho said before, everyone has their own pace. There's no need to keep up with others. Even if I go slowly, at my own pace, I can still achieve my goal. Thank you for always being by my side. I hope this year also brings us good health 🤍

👤: Oppa, I've been exercising lately, but the muscle pain is too strong... What do you do when you get muscle pain? ㅠㅠ Now I can't even walk, it hurts so much ㅜㅜ

🦊: It means you did the exercise well ㅎㅎㅎ Make sure you take Tylenol, and if you keep exercising consistently, it won't hurt as much as it does now over time ㅎㅎㅎ
