(Okay, so this is a short story I typed up just out of my pure boredom. It is depressing though, so if you don’t wanna read it, that’s okay. It’s in the view of my personal hc’s for Kinzie. With that being said though, let’s move on to the story.)

4AM.

Saints Row IV, Kinzie Kensington, 2020.

4am. Mostly everyone is dead to the world asleep at 4am - dreaming their dreams or being in their dark, peaceful abyss before the waking hour. Sleep can be nice. Sleep can also be distracting, sometimes even sleep is just.. that. An easy excuse to not bother with life.

It’s 4am, and I can’t sleep. I’m laying in my bed and staring off into absolute nothing. Wondering what’s even left, what the point of anything anymore even is. I’m floating through space, in a spaceship that I barely even help maintain, amongst the Saints. We defeated an alien emperor, and this is what I have to show for it. Complete emptiness. Completely alone. No one bothers to notice or even give the slightest crap, and it hurts. I’m alone in this, and I don’t think I’m gonna get out of it. No Oleg to pull me out of this. I’m not gonna bother crying about it either, because the last thing I need at 4 in the morning is for.. damn, I don’t know; Matt to hear me crying and either ridicule me or whatever possibility.

I’m better off bottling it up, and just continuing to lay here. Whether I sleep or not, I don’t care.

Welcome to Tiny Town, Oregon-- an interesting town with a misleading name. A home to everyone from the unwitting humans who believe there are no things that go bump in the night to the demon blooded creatures who may see them as a meal. There’s a reason for everything-- for the application that may have appeared on your phone, for the mysterious area called the Weald, for all the odd things that seem to happen. There’s a reason you came and a reason you don’t want to leave. Everyone has secrets…And in this town, it seems someone is always watching. Don’t bother looking over your shoulder and don’t bother trying to delete Tiny Town Chat. In this town, there’s nothing you can really escape from… but maybe you can try to find some peace.

Hearing about Volition's abrupt shuttering has left me in a weird empty, mourning mood tonight.

When I first started playing Saints Row: The Third almost exactly ten years ago, little would I know how much it'd end up changing my life. I found my best friends through Saints Row's Tumblr community, friends I keep up with daily even though all of us have since moved on to different fandoms. I got to know many other amazing people in the community, through all the shared art and headcanons and roleplays. And I got deeply invested in the creation and development of my OCs, these silly and badass and tragic imaginary people who shared my headspace almost every waking moment of my life for several years.

All this I got from a game series its studio had clearly poured their hearts and souls into, even through all the constant corporate meddling in the development processes over what must have been the last fifteen years, and now finally, a sudden death knell. Volition the studio is no more, its staff laid off without warning or fanfare. And it's just so unfair to everyone who'd worked on the games, and I hate that it's yet more proof (as if we didn't have enough already) that the current system of giant game publisher oligopolies gobbling up everyone they can get their hands on and then taking them behind the shed to be shot when they don't immediately return a double of their investment just shouldn't. fucking. exist.

It sucks. I don't have much more to say except that I hope the now ex-Volition game developers all end up finding new and maybe even better employers soon. And just maybe there'll be some new studio rising from the core of the Volition creative team. We'll see.

Anyone interested in a double up roleplay? The main fandoms I’m looking for is Overwatch, South Park, and Creepypasta/Slenderverse. I would recommend being 18+ and okay with smut because I highly prefer that and I don’t like to roleplay with minors. For each fandom I can play as anybody, I just have certain characters that I would like to ship with my OCs. For Overwatch it’s Junkrat, Lucio, or Genji, for South Park it’s Kenny or Kyle, and for Creepypasta/Slenderverse it’s Brian or Eyeless Jack. Feel free to leave a comment or send me a message and I’ll definitely give you my discord. I also have other fandoms in mind too such as Call of Duty, Star Wars, Dead by Daylight, Saints Row, and Fallout.
