There are many Saints Row fans that only like the first 2 games, and I can see why, it became a bit of a circus from 3 on but, honestly, I enjoy playing the circus that is Saints Row The Third, IV and Gat out of Hell. But... I do hate what happened after that... Agents of Mayhem and especially that fucking Saints Row reboot... idc about em, and it's sad cause Gat out of Hell had 5 endings, it's fun and all that they made the "rebuild the planet" ending canon but, first of all, they could have done that better... they could have remade the original SR1 with changes, making it just different enough to be worth playing instead of the original SR1 which is almost lost now as it was Xbox only (*cough* play it on an emulator *cough*) but from the "find a new home planet" and "let Johnny Gat be the new leader of Hell" they could have made games too. On the new home planet ending Kinzie said it'll be our toughest fight yet... I wanna play that. And Johnny as the new leader of Hell? I loved Gat out of Hell, even tho it is really short... I would have loved more of that... they really did the worst possible thing with that reboot... give me Johnny as the new Satan or let me take over a new planet with the crew 😭

fun fact, got this ask while playing gat out of hell. also i don't really get the phenomenon of thanksgiving in the us, this is going off what some friends told me lol-

Johnny, Matt, Shaundi and Asha meeting your family for Thanksgiving

Johnny Gat

He's initially against it, but very reluctantly gives in.

Very tense and clearly not really having a good time, but he tries.

If anyone in your family hunts, he might relax a bit. Bond over the guns and knives.

You have to monitor this idiot so he doesn't end up revealing he shoots people, not animals.

Awkwardly gets whatever younger members of the family that might recognize him to leave you guys alone.

You owe him for this, by the way. He could've been stuffing his face at Freckle Bitches'. Appreciate his fucking sacrifice.

Matt Miller

Matt is British, so he doesn't really get American Thanksgiving, but he's just happy to be there.

Don't get me wrong, he's awkward as all hell, this man does not know what he's doing there.

He kinda sticks by your side the entire time, occasionally making some nerdy references. Mostly to Nyte Blade.

He's a bit clingy and awkward, but your family finds him adorable, so it's not so bad.

Shaundi

When she was younger, she'd most likely just refuse. She had better things to do.

Older, more mature Shaundi, however, takes meeting your family surprisingly seriously.

She dresses up and everything. Helps around, puts all her charm and charisma to good use.

Your family adores her. Especially some of the younger members who might be fans.

Probably the best out of them all when it comes to Thanksgiving.

Asha Odekar

Like Matt, she's not American so she doesn't really get it, she just assumes it's an opportunity to hang out with family.

She approaches it very casually. She's respectful and willing to help, letting herself meet your family members.

She still mostly hangs out with you, a bit anxious about what your family might think about her.

She will change the subject if anyone asks about her work which makes your family a bit suspicious, but other than that, it's all good.

Nothing big or notable happens, honestly. It's all very chill.

it was my first Saints Row but is not even close to being my favourite. not by a long shot lmao. the gameplay was cool but the story was booty cheeks. since the devs didn't care about the story i don't either.

This probably is a pretty late and obvious rant but…………

After finally playing Saints Row 2, in my opinion the third game is the worst of them.

While saints 2 is still over the top it feels real, the characters and villains act and feel like real people you can encounter or hear about in the real world. And Saints 4 is completely committed to being insane and fantasy/scifi so we don’t need to over think anything because it feels like mindless fun.

But Saints 3 is right in the middle of these two, and it feels like a really watered down version of saints 2, because the characters more specifically the villains are just caricatures of vibes and aesthetics they thought were cool. Just compare Killbane to Maero, yeah Killbane is menacing and all that because he is the big guy, but it just doesn’t feel satisfying “beating” him ( since we can’t even really do that because the obvious real ending is to save Shaundi ). While Maero feels fully fleshed out, it’s satisfying going against him, having the chance to beat after all he did, him going to Vogel out of anger/rage and desperation to keep power to him.

Anyway Tl;dr: I now think that saints 3 sucks after playing saints 2
