the jubilance of reunion, coupled with relief that all were alive and well faded as quick as it came. ren was completely silent on the way back to their lodgings, expression trance like even when the small frown on normally expressionless features evolved into a shaking scowl. the dragon lingered in the kitchen to make their tea, bandaged their wounds alone, eavesdropped on the reunited members of rwby who talked animatedly over their collective adventures, anything to avoid speaking to jaune. tire however, weighed down their limbs with more than physical exhaustion, eventually slipping in to their room to retire. when the swordsman approached they went ignored for the most part, though to do so felt like tearing ren’s heart in two. only when an attempt to touch them was made did the dragon inhale sharply, batting jaune’s hand away and snarling. ‘ don’t. touch. me. ’ their eyes burned, pupils retracting into slits as if faced with an actual threat. ‘ if you’re so ready to let me go, then do so now. ’ @saintlyhilt

jaune crying broke my heart. contrary to popular belief that weiss rpers hate jaune , i like jaune. he’s just a guy trying to fit in. he grew up in a family surrounded by women , probs heard stories of his grandfather being an awesome huntsman , &. struggling to find his place in it all. even amongst his new friends , he feels isolated bc he feels like a forgettable fool who can’t do anything. his partner , friend died. he blames himself for not being good enough. &. here it is happening all over again. &. he is a good , kind guy that would take being forgettable , being thought of as a fool , being bullied , EVEN DEATH if his friends were protected. &. he is devastated that he couldn’t even do that. like , damn give the kid a break.

the words lingering in their throat felt like rocks which blocked air. ren had been scrolling to the beginning of the memory of their phone, the earliest chat logs, the oldest photos with a need to understand. the very thought of romance still made ren’s stomach quake, brows furrow, reacting to it like it left a bad taste on the tongue. there was no abundant passion, only a stranger with a ring on his finger that mirrored the dragon’s own. the moon to my sun, the sun to my moon. the small symbols had been etched into the inside of the bands, proof that jaune arc had been deeply involved in who ren had been. a stranger, and yet he seemed to know ren better than themselves ; coffee ( black, two pumps of agave nectar instead of sugar, ) breakfast ( no bacon, mostly pescatarian preferences, ) seating ( nearer to the wall of the room, instead of in the middle, ) jaune was aware of all these minuscule details which made ren feel more at home. but they had been avoiding the important questions, the ones which were sure to hurt.

a long sip preceded a murmur, but over the silence it reverberated in the quiet kitchen. ‘ jaune … why did you fall in love with me ? … i don’t deserve it. ’ @saintlyhilt

he associated this scent with jaune. a softer, more muted version of the chemical residue left behind from clean laundry. it was a pleasant past time, didn’t often feel like a chore, whether they were talking, bickering, or did so in complete silence. ren had been humming, folding their clothes in separate piles as they dried, fingers dextrous and quick as one of jaune’s sleep shirts was added to the mound.

the sentence came out of what seemed like absolutely nowhere. ren froze, dropping the shirts currently in his hands as if he’d lost all feeling in them. it was frightening, how three simple words had such an affect on him, deprived of them he had no idea how to react. magenta hue started brimming with tears, expression still that of utter shock.   @saintlyhilt

character in general: i literally love jaune??? he’s so sweet and SO strong and i don’t understand people who think otherwise?? justice for jaune arc tbh.  what a good boihow they play them: SCREAMS AT THE TOP OF ME LUNGS FOR 12 HOURS.  amazing. groundbreaking. oscar worthy.  i literally love this jaune, i would die for this jaunethe mun: AHHHHHHHHH. they’re amazing, so so SO talented, and great to talk to. we’ve already got so many ideas and plots and i’m THRIVING
