The First Apology of Justin  CHAPS. LIV - LVI
by Justin Martyr in Between 153 and 155 A.D. | translated by Anonymous
Tumblr media
CHAP. LIV.—ORIGIN OF HEATHEN MYTHOLOGY.
But those who hand down the myths which the poets have made, adduce no proof to the youths who learn them; and we proceed to demonstrate that they have been uttered by the influence of the wicked demons, to deceive and lead astray the human race. For having heard it proclaimed through the prophets that the Christ was to come, and that the ungodly among men were to be punished by fire, they put forward many to be called sons of Jupiter, under the impression that they would be able to produce in men the idea that the things which were said with regard to Christ were mere marvellous tales, like the things which were said by the poets. And these things were said both among the Greeks and among all nations where they [the demons] heard the prophets foretelling that Christ would specially be believed in; but that in hearing what was said by the prophets they did not accurately understand it, but imitated what was said of our Christ, like men who are in error, we will make plain. The prophet Moses, then, Was, as we have already said, older than all writers; and by him, as we have also said before, it was thus predicted: "There shall not fail a prince from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until He come for whom it is reserved; and He shall be the desire of the Gentiles, binding His foal to the vine, washing His robe in the blood of the grape." The devils, accordingly, when they heard these prophetic words, said that Bacchus was the son of Jupiter, and gave out that he was the discoverer of the vine, and they number wine [or, the ass] among his mysteries; and they taught that, having been torn in pieces, he ascended into heaven. And because in the prophecy of Moses it had not been expressly intimated whether He who was to come was the Son of God, and whether He would, riding on the foal, remain on earth or ascend into heaven, and because the name of "foal" could mean either the foal of an ass or the foal of a horse, they, not knowing whether He who was foretold would bring the foal of an ass or of a horse as the sign of His coming, nor whether He was the Son of God, as we said above, or of man, gave out that Bellerophon, a man born of man, himself ascended to heaven on his horse Pegasus. And when they heard it said by the other prophet Isaiah, that He should be born of a virgin, and by His own means ascend into heaven, they pretended that Perseus was spoken of. And when they knew what was said, as has been cited above, in the prophecies written aforetime, "Strong as a giant to run his course," they said that Hercules was strong, and had journeyed over the whole earth. And when, again, they learned that it had been foretold that He should heal every sickness, and raise the dead, they produced Aesculapius.
CHAP. LV.—SYMBOLS OF THE CROSS.
But in no instance, not even in any of those called sons of Jupiter, did they imitate the being crucified; for it was not understood by them, all the things said of it having been put symbolically. And this, as the prophet foretold, is the greatest symbol of His power and role; as is also proved by the things which fall under our observation. For consider all the things in the world, whether without this form they could be administered or have any community. For the sea is not traversed except that trophy which is called a sail abide safe in the ship; and the earth is not ploughed without it: diggers and mechanics do not their work, except with tools which have this shape. And the human form differs from that of the irrational animals in nothing else than in its being erect and having the hands extended, and having on the face extending from the forehead what is called the nose, through which there is respiration for the living creature; and this shows no other form than that of the cross. And so it was said by the prophet, "The breath before our face is the Lord Christ." And the power of this form is shown by your own symbols on what are called "vexilla" [banners] and trophies, with which all your state possessions are made, using these as the insignia of your power and government, even though you do so unwittingly. And with this form you consecrate the images of your emperors when they die, and you name them gods by inscriptions. Since, therefore, we have urged you both by reason and by an evident form, and to the utmost of our ability, we know that now we are blameless even though you disbelieve; for our part is done and finished.
CHAP. LVI.—THE DEMONS STILL MISLEAD MEN.
Tumblr media
(Relief of Simon Magus at the gate of the Basilica of Saint-Sernin, Toulouse.)
But the evil spirits were not satisfied with saying, before Christ's appearance, that those who were said to be sons of Jupiter were born of him; but after He had appeared, and been born among men, and when they learned how He had been foretold by the prophets, and knew that He should be believed on and looked for by every nation, they again, as was said above, put forward other men, the Samaritans Simon and Menander, who did many mighty works by magic, and deceived many, and still keep them deceived. For even among yourselves, as we said before, Simon was in the royal city Rome in the reign of Claudius Caesar, and so greatly astonished the sacred senate and people of the Romans, that he was considered a god, and honoured, like the others whom you honour as gods, with a statue. Wherefore we pray that the sacred senate and your people may, along with yourselves, be arbiters of this our memorial, in order that if any one be entangled by that man's doctrines, he may learn the truth, and so be able to escape error; and as for the statue, if you please, destroy it.

so I was rewatching Skyhooks last night, and I wanna talk about Ice King's bespoke suit.
First of all, he only gets one at the behest of Life Giving Magus. When asked, Ice King tells Magus on the phone that he's planning on wearing his blue muumuu on the date, and Magus insists that he needs a suit that will highlight his best attributes.
He does wear the suit on the date, and Betty seems almost hopeful, but Ice King looks very out of place, though he has quite literally stuffed himself into this suit (his beard is stuffed beneath the suit jacket)
Tumblr media
During the date, Ice King is very confused, even to the point that he gets scared when Betty lashes out at him (in his thoughts, he says something like "she's freakin' me out").
Tumblr media
And then at home, he tries to hide how disappointed he is that the date ended poorly by trying to downplay it when talking to Gunter.
Tumblr media
And then Betty returns to try and meet him where he's at! And Ice King is so fucking happy
Tumblr media
and then he's confused and saddened when Betty disappears. When Patience Saint Prim tells him that Betty's mom showed up and took her away, he says, "...Her mom?" and makes this face.
Tumblr media
Then, we have this look. Ice King, but with Simon's glasses and a hidden crown. He even calls this a disguise—he knows that this is not representative of who he is.
Tumblr media
Once Betty arrives, Ice King loses the suit jacket and lets his beard out.
Tumblr media
Then, we have these shots where he's unshrunken the crown and (for some reason?) tucked his beard into his shirt.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and at the end of it all, when Betty betrays everyone and leaves Ice King alone again, we find out that the muumuu has been under his clothes this entire time.
Tumblr media
this is a silly visual gag, yes, but I also think it's a really good representation of what exactly all of Skyhooks was for Ice King and Betty. Betty held out hope for Simon, and Ice King has been wearing that suit as a costume. He was hiding behind it. And now that's gone, and he is all that's left.

Just hear me out... Any one seen The Saint from the late 90s? Well, how about an AU where Ghost is part of the thief Simon Magus/Templar and Soap is Emma Russell.😃
I think the whole raised in a catholic orphanage and using the names of saints to hide himself from the world is a great dynamic to work with for these two! Them being totally thrown of by each other is just perfect. Love the aesthetic of this movie and fusion of espionage. <3<3

Simon Magus: Great Power of God or Father of All Heresies?
Simon Magus is certainly one of the most controversial figures in Christian history as suggested by the title “father of all heresies” given to him by Irenaeus. He is considered the founder of Gnosticism and his story is told in the Acts of the Apostles in the New Testament. Justin Martyr also wrote on Simon Magus quite extensively in his First Apology. There is a wonderful quote from Chapter 26 that introduces the figure of Simon Magus quite well and I will copy it here in it’s entirety: “There was a Samaritan, Simon, a native of the village called Gitto, who in the reign of Claudius Caesar, and in your royal city of Rome, did mighty acts of magic, by virtue of the art of the devils operating in him. He was considered a god, and as a god was honored by you with a statue, which statue was erected on the river Tiber, between the two bridges, and bore this inscription, in the language of Rome: "Simoni Deo Sancto," [which means] "To Simon the holy God." And almost all the Samaritans, and a few even of other nations, worship him, and acknowledge him as the first god; and a woman, Helena, who went about with him at that time, and had formerly been a prostitute, they say is the first idea generated by him. And a man, Menander, also a Samaritan, of the town Capparetaea, a disciple of Simon, and inspired by devils, we know to have deceived many while he was in Antioch by his magical art. He persuaded those who adhered to him that they should never die, and even now there are some living who hold this opinion of his.” However, Simon as portrayed in the Acts and the writing of Justin Martyr is not definitive. This post will discuss the story and teachings of Simon Magus.
The Life of Simon Magus
Justin Martyr’s quote on Simon Magus introduces his life rather thoroughly. The New Testament states that Simon Magus resided in the village of Gitta in the city of Samaria. Some sources attest that he had previously studied Greek in Alexandria. Phillip the Deacon arrived in Samaria after the persecution of Saint Stephen, the first Christian martyr, in order to preach and perform baptisms. It is stated that Simon had already garnered a following at this time. In fact, he was deified by his followers. In the Acts, it is written that Simon was “the power of God which is called Great” according to his followers. Simon and his wife Helene were also associated with the images of Jupiter and Minerva. This is highlighted in Justin Martyr’s claim that his followers declared the woman to be his first idea. It was believed that the creation of Helene from Simon’s mind spawned various angels who then transformed Helene into a human. It should be noted that this attestation comes from Irenaeus who also stated that this occurred after the events recorded in the Acts of the Apostles. This tale parallels the story of Jupiter and Minerva in which Minerva is born from Jupiter’s head. Simon is baptized by Phillip before Peter journeyed to Samaria so that those who had been baptized may receive the Holy Spirit. This was to be performed through the laying on of hands. It is said that Simon viewed this as a way to further his power and attempted to purchase the Holy Spirit from the apostles. Of course, this was refused by Peter. According to the New Testament, this is all to be said about Simon. A text known as the Pseudo-Clementina describes a dispute between Simon and Peter. The work which was attributed to the bishop Clement, one of Peter’s successors, portrays Peter as arguing for the observation of Jewish law while Simon opposes it. It must be noted that in some instances, it appears that Simon is conflated with Paul. This text highlights the historical disagreement between Christians who followed Jewish law and those who believed this to be incorrect. Clearly rivals at this point, the pair feud once again in the apocryphal work known as the Acts of Peter. Like many apocryphal texts, it features particularly absurd happenings such as Simon being able to fly and being impaled by a stick (though completely unaffected, of course). Aside from this, they debate various topics such as the goodness of God. At the end, Simon is gravely injured and subsequently killed by two physicians at Terracina. In a similar story, Simon travels to Rome where he gains the support of Nero before falling to his death after taking flight. There are a number of other tales about Simon Magus, though I’ll finish this section here for the sake of length.
The Teachings of Simon Magus
The Great Declaration is a text attributed to Simon Magus which has influenced groups such as the Valentinian and Sethian Gnostics. The text draws from a variety of esoteric schools of thought, especially Platonism. This influence on the text is obvious in its discussion of a sort of metaphysical hierarchy. It states that from one root, the Power, stems the Universal Mind and Great Thought. These aspects combined are regarded as the Father, the creator of all things. The root of Power, also called the Boundless Power, is contained within man. This Boundless Power is referred to as a Fire. As if it wasn’t complex enough, the Fire is twofold in the sense that some of its aspects are perceivable while the others are hidden. The cosmos was generated due to the intelligent nature of these qualities within the Fire. Moreover, the text refers to the six Roots of the Principles of Generation, which are paired off. These consist of Voice and Name, Mind and Thought, and Reason and Reflection. Voice and Name are associated with Sun and Moon. Reason and Reflection correspond to Air and Water, and Simon explains all of these ideas using the creation story in Genesis. He also makes reference to a seventh root which we can presume to be Spirit. According to the text, Fire can also take on male and female forms. This explains the story of Helene as Simon’s first idea. The female form of Thought was caused by angels to create new life using the Fire. These angels, along with lesser metaphysical forces, created material reality. We begin to see the Gnostic idea that the material world is evil in this text as the angels supposedly created it in order to control humanity. Overall, we see heavy Platonic influences in the explanation of the Power and roots that govern the world. These ideas are blended with biblical scripture, and it is not uncommon for Neoplatonism to be blended with biblical tales by theologians. The text clearly illustrates the Fire as a primary generative principle- Simon is the anti-Thales of Miletus. This work inspired an entire sect of Gnosticism named after Simon Magus, the Simonians, along with the Sethians and Valentinians.
His Legacy
Aside from inspiring Gnosticism, Simon became a long-standing enemy of the Catholic Church. The act of “simony” or attempting to buy a service considered to be holy was named after him and prohibited by the Council of Chalcedon during the 5th century. Irenaeus, a Greek bishop, wrote that Simon’s followers practiced magic through incantations and potions. He also discusses Menander, a disciple of Simon and claims that he believed himself to be a Christ-like figure as well. Justin Martyr believed that Simon was an evil force sent to subvert the teachings of Christ and prevent them from being taught.
Conclusion
Simon Magus, whether he’s the father of all heresies or great power of God, is one of the most influential figures in esotericism. To the Christians, his actions warned against blasphemous greed in the Acts of Apostles. Meanwhile, the apocryphal works illustrated him as a much more epic figure. The teachings attributed to him spawned Gnosticism and its various sects, and affirmed his position as an enemy to the Church.

10 Commandments, 2 Beasts
The Hebrew scriptures (Old Testament) and the Greek scriptures (New Testament) enjoin the Ten Commandments. Did early Christians keep them? Did the Pharisees keep or actually violate all of the Ten Commandment? Do many rely on traditions of men and mistranslations of scripture as "proof" that they do not need to keep the commandments? Do the two beasts of Revelation 13, the Beast from the sea (King of the North) and Beast from the earth (Antichrist) keep or violate each of the 10 Commandments? What about Simon Magus, Marcion of Pontus, and the "mystery of iniquity" otherwise known as the "mystery of lawlessness"? Did early Christians believe that they needed to do the Ten Commandments? Were crosses considered a symbol of their faith by early Christians? Does the Book of Revelation make it clear that God's people, the saints, are to keep the Ten Commandments? Are the Ten Commandments truth? Is the purpose of the commandments love? What are some of the anti-10 Commandment arguments? Will the two end-time beasts persecute those who strive to keep the Ten Commandments? Is an increase in lawlessness a sign of the end times? Is it only those who do His Commandments that have the right to the 'tree of life'? Dr. Thiel addresses these issues and more.

Saintly witches and sorcerers.
So an anon asked. And I had to dig out my journals. But here we are. There are two saints that I know of that are connected to witchcraft and sorcery. Or to put it broadly; magic. I only know of these saints, and have no dealings with them on a spiritual/magical level. So keep in mind that this is purely research. So whatever options for contact I’ve written down; these are suggestions and should not be taken as a set-in-stone-rule. And before anything you read here: I encourage you to do your own research. And by that I mean; read whatever you can find about said saint. And. Write. It. Down.  Write down your own impressions, assumptions and whatnot down as well. Then take practical steps. Pray. I’ve found that praying to Mary/Christ/The Holy Ghost first and then to X saint just seems to ‘fine tune’ the whole process. As well as provide some level of protection. Just as living humans, the dead- even saints -can act up/be difficult. Take precautions like any sensible practitioner would. It doesn’t have to be big- like mentioned above.
As my last piece of advice: don’t go around giving offering right away. Again; nothing big. Prayer can be an offering, as well as the usual candles and water. Elaborate offerings can always be used as payment/holding up your end of the bargain. Though specifics are to be worked out between you and X saint. They’ll let you know what they prefer. First, a (dis)honourable mention: Saint Thomas Aquinas. He is firmly against magic during his lifetime. Stating that the magic art is both unlawful as it is futile, tells you pretty much all you need to know. Everything is traced back to demons, and frankly, boring. Reading his work(s) you’d almost get doubts on whether the man wasn’t an intensely pissed off failed ceremonial magician himself. Although if you want a saint who could neutralize magic send against you, he’d probably be a good one to contact. His work(s) are/were/are considered a must read/study for those who want to become a priest. His work on the nature of souls is interesting.
- Saint Columba of Sens: There is some confusion around this saint. Her modern day cult is in France, Sens. She is a mix of Spanish and French. Saint Comba or Saint Columba is literally an entity that is ‘in between’ things. Is she a nun or a (converted) witch? Is she for witches or against them? Or both, depending on who calls on her? Did she remain a witch after converting or did she join because of the protection of being a nun gave? Whatever the tale is; her patronage literally includes rain, witches, magicians, hags, wizards and magic. As well as Andorra and Galicia. Her attributes are a broom and a witches hat! Through another story- on how she was saved from rape -a female bear could also be one of her symbols.
Her day is September 17th. Although within the Catholic church it is presented as Saint Columba was only martyr, in older Galician resources a somewhat different story comes to light. According to Poska, the woman known as a saint from Sens was none other than a famous witch in Spanish Galicia.
''Across Galicia, St Comba is known as the patron saint of witches, a curious notion in and of itself. On the one hand, she acts as an intercessor on behalf of witches, while on the other hand, people go to her to defend themselves against witches. One informant told Marisa Rey-Henningsen, ‘there . . . you can see she was a great witch, and now she is the greatest of saints.’ Even today, Galegos remain comfortable with both the positive and negative connotations of having witches in their midst.''
Whether this is about two different women, who over time got fused into one character is something you- the reader -must figure out for yourself. Know that there ís such a Saint Comba. Though I’d argue that since she is specific to a region, you read up on that particular folklore as well. To contact her I would keep it to a simple prayer, though with the addition of doing that on either a full or dark moon. - Saint Simon the Sorcerer: Simon Magus, Simon the Magician, Simon the Sorcerer, the Bad Samaritan. From Samarië Most known for his clash with Saint Peter. He is often described as the founder of Gnosticism. Reputed to be a ‘formidable’ sorcerer as well as one who has the skill to levitate. The bad Samaritan nickname is linked to his malevolent character. Has no known symbols or feast-day. Though a black book, wand, black bull, crucifix or gold would work. As would any Sunday would suffice as a feast-day. His conversion to Christianity- in my opinion -was more due the fact that he saw a source of great power; which he as a sorcerer could have the one-up on others. But that is just me. In various tales his temper and ambition play a huge part. Often portrayed as a magician who wants to become a god or sees himself as a second Jesus. This most notably in the myth of Simon and Helen by Epiphanius
The apocryphal Acts of Peter gives a more elaborate tale of Simon Magus' death. Simon is performing magic in the Forum and in order to prove himself to be a god, he levitates up into the air above the Forum. The apostle Peter prays to God to stop his flying, and Simon stops mid-air and falls into a place called "the Sacra Via" (meaning "Holy Way"), breaking his legs "in three parts". The previously non-hostile crowd then stones him. Reputed that he would rose from his grave, like Christ, after 3 days. Sadly, he stayed in his grave.
Minus the early Christian politics; to me this seems like a saint who has quite a temper when provoked. Though no lack of power and ambition. Suited to sorcerers or practitioners who need a patron in this direction as well as exploring deeper mysteries. Do not place on the same altar/shrine as St Peter; risk of a potential power struggle.

This week’s post is about Simon Magus, a pretty wild character from Biblical times.
(The book I’m taking notes on is called A History of Magic by Richard Cavendish. Try to get your hands on a copy; there’s a lot more information available than what my little notes can provide.)

Quote
The Rock on which the Church is built stood all unmoved at that early age, as now, against the efforts of false science. Yet not without peril was the attack then made by the gnostics, with that multiplex heresy of theirs and all its guileful plots put into strange concurrence by powers of evil otherwise the most opposed to the other. It would almost seem as though Christ had wished to prove the strength of the foundations he had laid, by thus permitting hell to direct against the Church a simultaneous assault of all the errors to which the world then was or ever would become a prey. Simon the magician, already ensnared by Satan in the nets of the occult sciences, was chosen by the prince of darkness as his lieutenant in the enterprise. Unmasked at Samaria by the Vicar of the Man-God, he had commenced against Simon Peter a jealous struggle that would by no means end with the tragic death of the father of heresies, but which in the following century was to be continued more desperately than ever, through disciples formed by him. Saturninus, Basilides, Valentine, all these did but apply the premises of the master, diversifying them according to the instincts bred at the time, by the then existing forms of corruption of mind and heart. A proceeding all the more avowed, inasmuch as the aim of Magus had been nothing less than the sealing of an alliance betwixt philosophies, religions, and aspirations the most contradictory. There was no aberration, from Persian dualism or Hindu idealism, to Jewish cabals or Greek polytheism, that did not mutually proffer the hand of friendship in this reserved sanctuary of the Gnosis; there, already were the heterodox conceptions of Arius and Eutyches being formulated; there, taking movement and life, in advance, were to be recognized in a strange pantheistic romance the wildest oddities of the hollow dreams of German metaphysics. God, an abyss, rolling from fall to fall, till at last reaching matter, there to become conscious of himself in human nature, and to return then, by annihilation, into eternal silence: this is the sum total of gnostic dogma, engendering, for its morality, a mixture of transcendent mysticism, and impure practices; for its political form, laying the basis of Communism and modern Nihilism.

I personally have decided to headcanon all wizards as Simonians, which was a sect of early christianity (sort of, they were gnostics who were often more christian-adjacent than actually christian) lead by a dude called simon magus, who is in the bible, and was also a wizard. Just a straight up wizard who started a cult
there's an extra-canonical christian text that describes him and st peter having what is best described as a wizard battle. simon does magic, and then peter does the same thing but better using the power of God, to show how awesome God is, but the really crucial thing is that even though God is shown to be better than magic, magic very much is real and simon magus can do it
so yeah, based on nothing except that i think it's funny that there's a straight up wizard in the bible, i have decided all wizards are simonians unless explicitly stated otherwise
“…The Easter holidays weren’t nearly as much fun as the Christmas ones.”
Philosopher’s Stone, Ch. 14
This seems to be pretty consistent at Hogwarts — that Christmas holidays are fun while Easter holidays are spent doing homework. That Hogwarts even designates an Easter holiday rather than some kind of “spring break” is interesting — are wizards religious? Do they celebrate Christian holidays? I’m pretty sure we’ve heard mentions of paintings of monks somewhere in the castle, but that and the holidays are about as far as it goes. Hogwarts doesn’t have a chapel or anything of that kind built in that we know about, but British wizarding society in general does seem to be culturally Christian.
We do have retroactive confirmation that Anthony Goldstein is Jewish, but it’s never addressed in the text. Given Rowling’s frankly inappropriate handling of American Indigenous religious and spiritual traditions with relation to magic on Pottermore, I’m not sure we want to know.

The Fall of Simon Magus, Pompeo Batoni , c. 1745- 1750, Cleveland Museum of Art: European Painting and Sculpture
Saints Peter and Paul came to Rome to win converts to Christianity soon after Christ’s death, while Simon Magus, claiming to be the son of God, attempted to prove his divinity by flying. Due to Saint Peter’s prayers, the demons supporting Simon abandoned him and he plummeted to his death. This work is either a study for or a copy of a huge altarpiece commissioned in 1746 for Saint Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican. Because of the humidity in Saint Peter’s, which quickly ruined paintings, the work was to have been translated into a massive mosaic. However, for reasons that remain unclear, Batoni’s mosaic was never created. Size: Framed: 207 x 133 x 10.5 cm (81 1/2 x 52 3/8 x 4 1/8 in.); Unframed: 183 x 108 cm (72 1/16 x 42 1/2 in.) Medium: oil on canvas

A Simon Magus (Fate) commission drew by @pan-gya
A Brief bio:
“Simon Magus was a charlatan Samaritan magus who briefly studied under Saint Peter in the First Century AD. He attempted to buy the divine gifts of the Apostles, causing Saint Peter to have everlasting contempt for him. The foul-mood magician destroyed any trust he had left with the Church by proclaiming he was the Messiah resurrected. After being kicked out of the church due to his blasphemous scam, Simon found work as a personal magus for the Roman governor of Judea, Pontius Pilate. Eventually, he joined the court magicians in the Roman Capital. After Emperor Caligula’s death, Simon was the surrogate father for the young Nero and taught her the basics of magecraft.  Agrippina the Younger, Nero’s infamous mother, was his most dangerous enemy.”

Irenaeus: The Most Dangerous Early Heretic?
Who was the most dangerous early heretic? Simon Magus, Marcion, Valentinus, Justin Martyr, or Irenaeus of Lyon? Why should modern Christians care? Though considered a major saint by the Church of Rome, the Eastern Orthodox, and most Protestants, Irenaeus was hot and cold on doctrine. Could Irenaeus have been the most dangerous of early heretics? Was Irenaeus a binitarian or trinitarian? Was he a millennialist? Did Irenaeus quote apocryphal books as scripture? Did he rely on them and traditions of men to push non-biblical doctrines? Did he claim to know Polycarp of Smyrna and endorse him, but not hold to his and the Apostle John's practices regarding the biblical Passover? What about the 'Lord's Day'? Did Pope Benedict XVI refer to Irenaeus as the "true founder of Catholic theology'? Do Protestants consider him the most important second century source of "orthodoxy'? Was Irenaeus wrong about the founding and succession from the Apostles Peter and Paul related to Rome according to Roman Catholic scholars? What about heaven? Who really had (and still has) true apostolic succession? Should the Book of Revelation be allegorized? Did Irenaeus confuse the Beast and the Antichrist? What about 666? What are some of the reasons Christians would want to know about Irenaeus and his teachings today? Dr. Thiel addresses these issues and more.
