All the saints clambering around Luce, pinching her cheek, admiring how sweet she is.
“Christopher, do you wanna hold her?”
Saint Christopher: *Nervous sweating* I’d… rather not.
Luce: Hi mom!!
Mary: *sobbing from cuteness* Hi dear.
Luce: Jesus! Omg! Hiiiii!
The disciples: All right, kid, back off.
Jesus: This child… she is the one.
The disciples: Jesus, what the fuck??
Jesus: Would you like to be a plushie?
The disciples: Jesus???????

Samantha Carpenter's St. Christopher's Medal | Scream VI
Tumblr media
in Scream VI, Sam is seen to be wearing a St. Christopher's pendent around her neck at all times.
Saint Christopher is a popular Catholic, most commonly Christian, Saint that is considered "a patron saint of travelers." a pendant of St. Christopher is typically worn for protection during travel, strength and courage, and faith and devotion to the Catholic Church. it believed those traveling with the wearer may also be protected. while St. Christopher's name has been removed from the Catholic Church on account that there is no evidence that he actually existed, his medal is worn by many, regardless of their religious background, and he has also been thought to protect against danger and disease.
i'm thinking it might have been possible that Sam got this medal and started to wear it when she, Tara, Mindy, and Chad planned to move to New York in hopes St. Christopher would protect them from any threats (such as another Ghostface) from following them across the country.
this also might insinuate that she and Tara came from a religious family background (alongside this picture of Tara) which is why Sam struggles so much with being accused of murder. now, i know anyone would be upset about being hated and accused and whatnot, but Sam is quick to get very worked up when she is called a murderer and/or when she is blamed for the 2022 Woodsboro murders. furthermore, she claimed to be going to therapy, because when she killed Richie, "it felt right." it is obvious that being Billy Loomis' daughter as well as suffering from a likely inherited form of psychosis as well as possible addiction, anxiety, and depression, she is not considered to be mentally stable by law, which would justify her actions. despite that, SHE KILLED RICHIE IN SELF-DEFENSE. but she seems deeply afraid and anxious having "enjoyed" the thrill of killing, which would deem her a "heavy sinner" in the eyes of a Catholic, let alone a Catholic Christian.
now, I AM NOT IN ANY WAY claiming that this is proof of Sam or any other character being religious. I DO NOT WANT TO START ANY KIND OF CONTROVERSY. as i said in the initial explanation, even non-religious people can wear a St. Christopher's pendent. being a religious individual, myself, i was just looking at what might've been from what i personally know, experience, and feel. if this comes off as offensive to anyone, kindly do not say any hurtful things or be rude. THESE ARE PURELY MY OPINIONS, THEORIES, AND OBSERVATIONS.
All my best! ♡ - parker

Continuing the printing-themed run of Buddies, this is the Buddy for August 7th. It's based on an early European woodcut - or rather, I converted the art into a vector through inkscape, modified it with Buddy's face, then colored in some parts using a different layer.
Tumblr media
I think it looks cool.
It's Saint Christopher, the big friendly giant of early Christianity! It's likely that he didn't really exist, but I like the goofy look of the woodcut. Stay tuned for more Saint Christopher action tomorrow.

Andre in the Guise of Saint Christopher
The legend of Saint Christopher quite clearly states that he was a giant. Not just a tall man, but a genuine giant of the beanstalk variety... Christopher's story seemed the ideal vehicle to feature another famous giant — the late Andre the.
from Prodigies: Anomalous Humans by James G. Mundie
As the story goes, it was his size that enabled him to easily transport the Christ child across a river and thereby secured his place as patron saint of travelers — that is, until the Church decided that the evidence for Christopher's very existence was entirely legendary and de-canonized him. Nonetheless, Christopher remains a popular though unofficial saint, and his image is fixed in our cultural psyche.
Christopher's story seemed the ideal vehicle to feature another famous giant — the late Andre Rousimoff, professional wrestler and actor (which amounts to the same thing).

THE DESCRIPTION OF SAINT CHRISTOPHER Feast Day: July 25
St. Christopher—patron of travelers, protector against toothaches, hailstorms, and sudden death—is one of the most endearing for Catholics. His life and story, bordering somewhere between legend and legitimacy, is a complex, faith-affirming exercise in service, grace, and love.
Christopher has proven his resilience, growing in popularity over the centuries and withstanding suspicious historians who have questioned his validity.
He was a man of many names, Offerus being one of them. Born in the third century in Asia Minor, son of a king, he would grow to be a restless young man of considerable size. The early years of his life were spent in search of riches, of purpose, of a cause worthy of his allegiance.
As the story goes, a young Offerus, looking for the strongest and boldest ruler to follow, briefly courted Satan. When his new master cowered in fear at a holy cross on the side of a road, Offerus abandoned Satan, choosing light over darkness. During this period of transition, a holy hermit awakened the restless wanderer to Christianity, schooling and baptizing him. From then on, Offerus pledged his life to Christ and vowed to serve God’s people along the banks of an untamed river. So he built a hut and set up camp with a new purpose—to be a boatman to the world.
His popularity was solidified when a small child once approached him, wanting safe passage across the water. He hoisted the boy on his shoulders and, with his trusty staff, began the journey. As the river deepened, the child began to grow heavier. Waters quickly rising, the precious cargo continued to weigh the giant down. According to historians, as he reached the banks of the river, Offerus said: 'Child, thou hast put me in great peril; thou weighest almost as if I had all the world upon me: I might bear no greater burden.'
"Christopher," the little boy responded, "thou hast not only borne all the world upon thee, but thou hast borne Him that created and made all the world, upon thy shoulders."
The child instructed Christopher (meaning 'Christbearer') to cross the river again and plant his staff in the ground, telling the ferryman that life would spring forth. To Christopher's astonishment, by morning his staff had taken root—bright flowers and fruit grew from it.
The rest of Christopher's life is even sketchier in detail. One legend states that many in the immediate area converted to Christianity based on his encounter, which drew unwanted attention. In Lycia—present-day Turkey—under Emperor Decius, he was imprisoned, shot with arrows, burned and then beheaded around 251 A.D.
Though the life of this mighty martyr was later questioned by historians, St. Christopher's story and his worldwide appeal have proven invulnerable.

This is the Buddy for today, August 8th. It continues the Saint Christopher theme from yesterday, but with a bit of a twist. Saint Christopher was sometimes portrayed in art as having a dog's head, so today's Buddy does too. I guess that makes him a furry.
He's got the Hanna-Barbera collar with the scarf around his neck, too, makes it easy to animate, eh? I'll be honest, I never really liked furry comics, or drawing furry stuff. Even when there is some stuff I enjoy, the furry aspect isn't the thing I like about it, unless the metaphor's leaning on it pretty heavily - I'm reminded of the Osamu Tezuka manga, Ode of Kirihito.
