What are your favorite inks and fountain pens? I've tried a few of the more popular ones (Safari, Metropolitan) and they felt designed for people with huge hands, not my tiny child hands.
I've been using the Pilot Kakuno (love!), Waterman Hemisphere, and Pelikan Twist and they've been great! (Yes, I know 2 of these options are specifically designed for schoolchildren).
My current ink obsession is Iroshizuku's Amo-Iro, it is such a vibrant blue!
Oooh, excellent questions! And thank you for asking about my favourites in the plural, I'm incapable of choosing a single favourite ever 😅
Pen-wise, I'm a Kaweco Sport girl. They're short, like my fingers, but with a reasonable diameter for comfortable grip. And many of them are made from more durable materials than plastic, which is a huge plus for me.
(Side note, I had three beloved Inoxcrom stubby fountain pens in university, which had a steel barrel but plastic grip, feed and cap. Said plastic oxidised over time and became very brittle, until the thread connecting to the barrel started snapping off and making the pens unusable. Heartbreaking, which is why I now prefer metal or resin pens!)
Of my Kawecos, I think my favourites are my two Kaweco ART Sports, from series four. The Mineral White and Hickory Brown resins are both GORGEOUS.
(I yearn for the Metallic Green from the ART Sport series 3, but that's a separate matter.)
However, Kawecos do have a downside, in that the nibs are of varied quality. Two different nibs of the same material and size can behave wildly differently.
Nib-wise, I am very fond of my Ystudio Revolve Portable, and of the single Sailor ProGear Slim I can afford. Both are truly beautiful writing experiences! The Ystudio nib is buttery smooth with the teensiest bit of flex, and the Sailor is a beautiful fine writer with a pleasing amount of feedback from the paper tooth.
As for inks, I have too many favourites! I adore the Pilot Iroshizuku Syo-Ro, the way it subtly shifts from dark blue when wet to dark teal when dry.
I'm also a big fan of Wearingeul inks! They make some beautiful shading inks, and some incredible shimmer inks. Something for everyone!
And I love multi-shading inks, like Sailor Manyo Haha, or Troublemaker Inks Foxglove.
But I also have a soft spot for Robert Oster inks - it's a local (to me) brand, very affordable. Sadly, a number of the inks have a tendency to change colour in the pen over time (blues turn green, pinks and reds turn brown), but enough of them are reliable to keep me coming back.

Swatching my inks on Iroful paper and Tomoe River paper for comparison
I don't think anything can beat the way TR shows sheening haha, some of the sheening inks are like 99% sheen and 1% actual colour 😂
It's also interesting that some swatches look more cool-toned on the Iroful paper; Sailor Yurameku Kyokkou, Sailor Yurameku Hana-gokoro, Ink Institute Mexican Hens, and Sailor Yurameku Kitsune-biyori
I always seem to have trouble capturing Sailor Shikiori Sakura-mori, Kin-mokusei, and Sailor Manyo Sakura on camera. They are NOT that neon irl and are very legible. Manyo Sakura is more on the lighter side but it still isn't like what those photos are showing, I enjoyed journaling with it this summer!

Haul from Goulet Pens’ ink sample sale!
Highlights include empty Colorverse and Herbin 1670 bottles, a potential Robert Oster dupe for my beloved Sheaffer Turquoise (whichgotdiscontinued grumblegrumble), a lot of green overall (including 4 samples and of course the Clairefontaine notebook), searching for a favorite coral/sage green/light orange go-to ink, and Sailor Manyo Haha. It’s swabbin’ time!
Side note: I haven’t forgotten about the Galen Leather Writer’s Bag review, I’ve just gotten sidetracked with five other projects. The very short version is that if you’re obsessed with it, go for it, but Goulet Pens may offer a better experience.

Eye Candy: Sailor Manyo Dual Shading Mini Sets
While working at the Dromgoole’s table in St. Louis, I was able to score both of the Sailor Manyo Limited Edition Dual Shading sets (4 each with 20ml bottles, $60). Set #1 is a brighter assortment and includes  Haha, Nekoyanagi, Sakura, Nadeshiko. I swatched each bottle on Col-o-ring paper and then used a 1″ circle punch to cut the swatches and glue onto the top of the lids. It’s easy to see…

random question because i enjoy seeing you talk about pens and inks hehe. what's your favorite pen you own and your top 3 inks (or more if you feel that its not enough <3)
ooooohhhh yes thank you!! i love talking about fountain pens and inks because it’s a pretty niche hobby for people my age in the US so i always jump at the chance to tell people about it lol
my favorite pen is my pilot prera! (disclaimer: i don’t own any gold nib pens) it’s very lightweight and small, and since i have small hands, it’s sized perfectly for me unposted, and comfortable posted. i don’t ever post my pens because i have baby hands and small fingers lol. i have the blue demonstrator version and the ivory version, both in a fine nib. if i could have the perfect prera, it would be the ivory prera with a gold trim and clip/finial instead of silver.
also. i only write with steel nibs (for now) but pilot makes my favorite nibs hands down. even for steel nibs, they’re sooo springy and smooth, even in the japanese EF size. when i upgrade to a gold nib, it’s definitely going to be a pilot (i’m just deciding between the e95s or the elabo/falcon).
top 3 inks is so hard for me lmao… i’d say… 1: sailor ink studio 224, 2: sailor manyo haha, 3: pilot iroshizuku kon-peki
(tbh i’d go for 3: sailor yurameku kyokuya but i feel like i can’t have 3 multichrome shading sailor inks as my favorites, and i genuinely love kon-peki) huuuge honorable mention for de atramentis document black, which is probably the ink i use the most lmao…. everybody needs a good black ink, and de atramentis document black is my choice of black ink. it’s quick drying, waterproof, well-behaved, and it’s suuuch a dark saturated pitch-black black. and you can highlight over it! it’s the ink i use in my hobonichi cousin for planning and note-taking purposes, and i know i can count on it to behave well even on cheap paper.

@amberlilly I know the tip you sent me was mostly for the UK, but since you and share this and you turned me onto the possibility of replacing the Kaweco’s nib, I figured you wouldn’t mind if I used some of it for this!
I bought the calligraphy nib you turned me onto, and will be making my little kaweco sport into a stub nib, as god intended.
I bought two piston converters for a pilot metropolitan (For my money, the best entry-level fountain pen--I take them traveling because I never worry too much about losing one or breaking it) since I HATE the squeeze converter I have and I swear at it EVERY SINGLE TIME I use it. I’m going to ink at least four pens (shut up I can stop any time I want) for this trip, and I didn’t want to just have to use cartridges! So I think I’ll cartridge the Kaweco, use converters for two of my pilots, and then cartridge the other pilot.
Also got a col-o-ring so I can collect my inks! I own roughly, uh, too many sheening and shimmering teal blues, so this will let me compare than am also maybe buy new actual colors. I’ll show you how I did it when I do it--considering buying a cheap dip nib for this.
Got a tiny Mnemosyne notebook that easily fits in any pocket for quotes, ideas, etc.  I love the little cheap ones, but the rough paper tears at a fountain nib.
Ink samples! I’ll show you what they look like inked once I figure out how I want to do this, but I got Diamine’s Happy Holidays, Sailor’s Manyo Haha, Organics Studio’s Henry David Thoreau Walden Pond, Organics Studio’s Ralph Walod Emerson Twilight Blue, and a random one, which was Pelikan’s Brilliant Brown, which taught me again why I don’t do random samples and grab bags and such.
all in all, I thought you’d want to know! Now I have to clean all my pens, which has needed to be done for, uh....awhile *grits teeth* so this is a good way of forcing my hand

Today, it’s windy here in New Jersey. Still brisk, but not bitter cold. Winter never really came this season. I am thankful that I didn’t have to shovel or salt much, if at all. If it’s windy like today, I run into the wind like I’m charging into a pitched battle. When you change direction, the wind is at your back, shoving you forward. - written with a Leonardo Momento Zero Celluloid 14kt gold stub nib inked with Sailor Manyo Haha on GLP the Author tomoe river paper notebook.
