it's kinda sad to see that aro/ace rep is seen as an afterthought, it's actually really nice to see you ask these questions and talk about them cause I've kinda grown jaded after every time it's brought up, we'd be called ungrateful or nitpicky about our rep. Even if it wasn't even confirmed, a speculation or our label was being overshadowed by another identity headcanon and in general never taken seriously

True! Even when there is a canon aro ace character that isnt (like i theorize it is in the case of Lilith) an afterthought based around said character being unshippable with anyone in canon, people love just... ignoring it to ship them anyways. And the thing is, im all for writing aroace characters experimenting and in relationships! Both aro and ace labels are spectrums that deserve to be explored, especially in term of aromantics — our love can feel so so different than what were generally show in romance media. Its fun! Its a fun thing to write about! But instead fandoms as a whole choose to ignore this altogether because it gets in the way of their ship, or at least their idea of how a "ship" can look like (ie their treatment of queerplatonics. To be fair i also cannot expect allos to understand these experiences enough to write abt them in an accurate way)

Sure, the characters are fictional and cant really care abt it much, but aroace people... exist in fandom spaces too, and since i am one it feels kind of weird for my identity to be deemed unimportant and a blank slate for headcanons. Like its not worlds biggest issue its just very much annoying... as much as i dont like the fact that out of all characters lilith is the canonical aro, at least the fandom is nice about it? Which is not something i can say about other ones

This is very much why so many characters of mine are aro (and ace but im mostly talking abt romantic stuff here) btw i find exploring the spectrum really fun. I love queerplatonics i love demis i love loveless aros

i think theyre funneee :3 assuming this was prompted by this post lol, and as i posted in one of my caytobers i like to think of them sharing fashion ideas with each other. which was ENABLED when cater's birthday bloom card came out and is what im referencing in this doodle lol ^

anyway they're one of those pairs that initially i just think of as like "funny ha ha not very deep pair, just playing in the space FOR FUNSIES" type of duo, but then also when i think about it a little longer i could make a little bit of a case for it!!!

I'd say they could kinda match each other on a more casual, in-the-moment kind of relationship tbh! very present-minded. cater likes to make memories but doesnt really expect things to last and current-trend influenced, and floyd is very driven by whatever he thinks is interesting in that current moment. i think if their current interests linked up they could have a fun time, but also khsgkdfj we know how fickle floyd can be, and how sometimes cater doesnt like to get involved with things that are a lot of trouble or stress if he can avoid it.

i think it's fitting they both were in the playful land event bc a setting of them in a pop up carnival setting running around doing Whatever feels very accurate for them lol. chasing a limited time trendy interesting thing [i could see them going to a haunted house together which would probably end up with floyd terrorizing the actors instead 😬], and since floyd has been stated a few times to have an interest in human fashion [maybe it was just shoes specifically idr] i def think he and cay could have a common interest there.

AND!!!! i often like to think about the characters in the category of "not a housewarden, not a vice housewarden, but a secret, third thing" which contains, floyd, cater, ruggie, and ortho since they dont hold official titles but still do help out their housewarden a lot. cater and floyd are both part of a trio w/their respective housewarden and vice housewarden and i think thats a fun parallel 😌 and like i think i mentioned in my 2nd gen trio lol, azul/riddle are a popular pair of housewarden/housewarden, jade/trey are a popular pair of vice/vice, and so that leaves the potential leftover cay/floyd as bonus third/bonus third shgdkjfsdfjk

also i think it taps into cater's playful / mischievous / little bastard tendencies!!! hes a bit more level headed and responsible compared to floyd lol BUT!!!!!!!!!!! sometimes he's a little shit and i think floyd would enable that lol. and i think it would be Very Funny seeing people react to catching floyd/cater smooching in 4k.

ANYWAY, since we r going backwards, i am SOOO HYPED FOR OCTAVINELLE’S DREAMS! azul is likely to be last and im looking forward to see his dream the most, but im really curious to see what jade and floyd’s will be! maybe jade’s will be something abt,,, uhhh mushrooms. idk really. it’s a mystery and IM SO EXCITED FOR IT.

ALSO, this is not gonna happen soon but im really interested to see cater’s dream as well! from hints in the story, we can tell that cater isn’t as cheery and happy-go-lucky as he puts himself out to be, but they never directly say it. maybe in his dream, they’ll examine that theme a bit more? then again, he wasn’t the one who overblotted so it might not be that serious? im not really sure but im excited for it anhway!!! IM EXCITED FOR RIDDLE AND ACE TOO!! riddle’s is bound to be pretty good considering how he overblotted, and that seems to be the theme so far, but we know next to nothing about ace.

like, we see who he is on the surface but do we really know what a happy dream to him is? like, his aspirations and all that.

unimportant, this reminds me of the time i was thinking about a danganronpa x twst crossover and STRUGGLED with what ace’s would be. i ended up just picking ultimate basketball player, but it still doesn’t seem entirely accurate. we don’t really know much about the inner workings of his mind or what he was like before arriving at nrc so im really curious to see what his dream will be.

i just rlly love spencer’s characterization here… i feel like it’s rare to find fics of spence in the later seasons or like post-prison era that feel accurate but this series nailed it for me tbh… that combo of sweetness + old insecurities + jaded-ness… WE LOVE YOU PIPE CLEANER!!!

also this series is very similar to the beginning of my current relationship and there was one time when i said “ive never done this before” in the middle of the act (completely honest) and afterwards they were like “hey… have u actually never done that before or was that like ur version of a hot roleplay bc if it was, it rlly worked” i was like LMFAOOO??? 😭😭😭 + i feel like dybmn reader and spence couldve had an interaction like that early in their relationship.. reader mentions being inexperienced for the first time and spencer is in his head trying to profile is my gf a virgin /srs or /j?

The Magic of Friendship [6]

Tom enjoyed his quiet walk to the Astronomy Tower. He always preferred the nighttime over day. Though, it was only during his stay at Hogwarts. Anywhere else and he would choose sunlight over all; the sirens always went off at night. 

Hogwarts had changed his perspective on life, how special it was—how finite it was. You were only given one life, and you were expected to live it to its fullest potential; and Tom was full of potential. He was destined for greatness. 

One lifetime is too short for him. He needed more; more time to conduct his plans to bring the Wizarding World to its fullest capacity. Muggles were mean, crude, and above all, ignorant. They knew nothing of what they were afraid of. They were all going to die by his doing sooner or later. Surely, in a far away universe, his mother would be proud of him. 

When he turned the corner to round up the staircase, Tom saw a blur of blue illuminated by the moon before a pair of jade was shoved into his vision. 

“Where is Patrick?” The girl asked, her frames sliding off her flat nose. “I never got to catch up with him after the Quidditch match.” 

“Nott caught a stomach bug from dinner, and so did Mulciber.” Tom said, slipping past Saoirse as he made his way to his assigned telescope, far away from the nuisance that was she. 

“From dinner,” she echoed, unaware of the sigh that fell from the boy’s nose. “Are they okay? Maybe I should go check up on him—well, them—after class.”

“That won’t be necessary, they’ve been admitted into the Hospital Wing already.” 

Saoirse’s brows furrowed. “I know that tone; that’s the same tone my father uses when he’s lying. Why are you lying to me, Riddle, what happened to Patrick?” 

Tom fought the urge to roll his eyes. “Darling, why would I ever lie to you,” he said condescendingly. “All of this concern for a boy you just met; I dare say you fancy him.” 

“I don’t fancy him, whatever that means—” 

Saoirse was cut off, a tall and awkward man standing behind her in the shadows of the night. “You two,” Professor Jensen said. “Why haven’t you started your assignment? Class started ten minutes ago.” 

“Our apologies, professor,” Tom hummed pleasantly. “Unfortunately, Saoirse’s partner has fallen ill, and we were merely discussing temporary arrangements until Nott is better.” 

Jensen nodded, his shoulders relaxing at Tom’s soothing words. The boy always had a way with adults. “Well, then,” he smiled. “I’m glad Riddle is kind enough to offer assistance to you, Miss Saoirse; five points to Slytherin.” 

Saoirse couldn’t focus anymore after Riddle’s sass. The rest of class was silent between the two, their hands occasionally passing by as they reached over to grab something. She enjoyed it more when Patrick listened to her talk about whatever she felt like chatting about at the moment. It helped her practice her English. 

She was nothing but worried for him. Surely, he was smart enough to keep his mouth shut around someone as temperamental as Riddle, right? Whatever the case may be, she only hoped she didn’t find the boy dead on the ground somewhere. 

“You know,” Tom muttered, his first words after the first hour or two of class. “Nott is awfully fond of you; he’s been reading in the romance genre lately.” 

Saoirse’s cheeks turned hot, brighter than the moonlight that reflected off her cheekbones and forehead. “That’s not a funny joke, you know…”

“It’s not a joke; it’s the truth. He’s usually by himself most of the time, but now he spends all his time with you. It’s amusing to see, actually.” 

Saoirse scoffed, “Well, I think that’s really sweet of him. Of course, you wouldn’t get it; you don’t seem like the type to believe in love or anything romantic. I actually can’t believe that girls waste their time with you.” 

“At least they have good taste.” He muttered, his ego flaring until fading away immediately when Saoirse whacked his arm.

 TR~S 

The first smell in the Slytherin dungeons that fills the nose is the pungent, stagnant water lingering from the dripping sewage pipes. The wear and tear of the castle is very noticeable since the school keeper deliberately avoids dirtier places that need more work than usual. However, the students of green and silver try their best to maintain the elegance that comes with a pureblooded community. 

The interior of the Slytherin common room differed from its outside completely; with pristine furniture and glistening marble columns, it was the home of a tight-knit group, often used for gossip and other disparaging remarks that are meant for the common room and the common room only. 

Somehow, by some miracle, Saoirse was able to convince Tom to let her in the snake den. She was too determined, too worried about Patrick and his friends—well, more of Patrick than his friends. 

The culture surrounding the Slytherin’s fascinated her. When she walked into their awfully green living space, Saoirse saw a couple of upperclassmen standing by one of the many glass windows that protected them from the Black Lake. Looking on and into the murky water, Saoirse saw merpeople waving their hands at the children, forming signs. 

The Ravenclaw shook her head, stomping her way to the left staircase that wrapped around the bulky statue of a man whom she assumed to be Salazar Slytherin. Remembering Riddle’s words, she walked down the hall to inspect each door, finding the one with the silver number of thirteen before knocking softly. 

“Hello? It’s me, Saoirse.” She waited patiently, nibbling on her nail folds before the door swung open, a weak and defeated Abraxas frowning at the girl. 

“What do you want?” He asked, his voice so unlike his usual tone of pride and ignorance. His hair was oily, slicked back and pushed behind his ears as bandages sat on his face and neck. 

She walked in, gently moving the taller boy out the way. “I heard what happened, so I came to see you all.” 

“No, don’t look at us; we’re ugly…” Groaned Eloise, his pillow muffling the sounds of his growing pains as it sat on his face. 

“That’s just what you look like, Avery.” she sighed. “Where is Patrick?” 

“He’s right there,” Abraxas said from behind, walking around to lay back down on the bed already occupied by Miles. “He knocked out cold after Tom left; he usually doesn’t get punished, so he isn’t used to the pain.”

Saoirse frowned, slipping her flats off before sitting at the head of Patrick’s bed. Her weight caused the duvet to dip, his limp body following its contours. With gentle hands, she picked up his head to rest in her lap as her fingers lost in his hair. She took his bent glasses off his nose and set them down on his bedside drawer. 

“Does Riddle always lash out like this?” She asked quietly, her wand in hand as she slowly healed his wounds, from the small scratches littering his skin to the large bruise under his left eye. 

“Not usually,” Orion uttered, “but it’s always harsh whenever it does happen; he has major problems.” 

Miles chimed in, his body rolling over to face the girl. “He used the Cruciatus Curse, if you’re wondering. It feels like a bunch of knives and needles are being stabbed into you all at once. It makes you lose track of time after a while.” 

Saoirse nodded, her eyes tracing the lines of Patrick’s pale and sickly face. “Why did Riddle get mad anyways?” 

She was met with silence from the boys. 

“Well, it’s complicated.” Louis coughed, his hair out of its usual tight bun as he rested on Cassius’s shoulder, who just so happened to be sitting next to him. “Tom was angry at us for not doing what we were supposed to, and he was mad at Patrick for hanging out with you.” 

“Why would he care who Patrick is hanging out with?” 

Eloise sighed. “Because we’re supposed to be ‘focusing on other things’ as he put it…like how we’re supposed to be looking for the Chamber of Secrets—” 

The rest of the boys, save for Patrick, groaned in disbelief as their friend was too delirious to realize his mistake. 

“Excuse me—Chamber of Secrets, what is that?” Saoirse asked, confusion written all over as she watched Abraxas throw a weak attempt at hitting the heir of Avery in the face, his deflated pillow plopping onto the floor. 

“It’s something Salazar Slytherin made when Hogwarts was built long ago.” Abraxas said. “The other founders: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, and Rowena Ravenclaw, had differing opinions from Salazar concerning half-bloods and Muggleborns. He harbored resentment towards anyone without a pure magical lineage, and so he created the Chamber of Secrets to house a monster that was supposed to rid the school of those he deemed unworthy of magic.”

“Why are we telling her this, this was supposed to be a secret.” Pressed Orion. 

“There’s no point in keeping it a secret, she’s already involved; it’s Eloise’s fault anyways.”

“I’m sorry that I feel like my head is about to explode, chicken boy.” Cried Eloise. 

Saoirse sat in thought, contemplating the information she was fed. Riddle, who made it his mission to be calm and collected, the epitome of gentlemanly perfection and the poster boy of Hogwarts, was merely a boy loyal to his peers and had major anger issues, it seemed. Why he was determined to open the Chamber himself was unknown to the girl, but he was playing his cards wrong. Riddle was driven by emotion in times of stress, as seen by how weak and fearful his posse was. Patrick was still out cold, Lestrange and Malfoy were hanging off the bed they were laying on, Black was sagging into a fluffy, oblong seat; Avery was on the bed diagonal from where Patick’s bed was, face down, and Rosier and Mulciber were in their own world directly across. 

“Does Riddle force you all to do things for him,” she whispered, breaking the silence between the group of boys. “Why do you put up with him? These abusive outbursts seem to be commonplace.” 

“Because at the end of the day, we trust him; he’s our friend.” 

Saoirse felt the weight on her lap shifting, causing her gaze to follow. Patrick sat up slowly, palms on his sheets in search of his glasses. The girl was quick to hand them to the boy. 

“Tom,” Patrick continued. “is very complicated, to put it simply. We know that we shouldn’t put up with his anger—his obsessions, but he has good reason to be obsessed. He promised us that he would do the world good, and if that means a few punches and spells here and there, then I would do anything to make sure his goals are accomplished.” 

The other boys made affirming sounds. Louis pulled away from Cassius, his back straighter and his eyes brighter than before. “Before we met Tom, we were nothing but a bunch of rich boys with a reputation to uphold. In our families, there are definitely other people our parents are proud of. But with Tom, he gives us hope; a purpose. Tom has pushed our boundaries time and time again, only to prove that we are worthy of our names, of this privilege he’s given us to be his followers—the Knights of Walpurgis.” 

Saoirse hesitated to speak, her thoughts running many miles an hour before she opened her mouth. “If I became one of his followers,” she started. “Would that help? I don’t like that you’re all beat up, Patrick.” 

The boy in question stuttered, “What? No, I don’t want you involved, Saoirse.” 

“Actually, it would help us,” said Orion. 

Everyone turned to face the melancholy teenager in the corner of the room. He leaned forward, forearms pressed against his knees and his palms clasped together. He blinked once, then twice, until Eloise stupidly made a noise of acknowledgement, slapping his forehead and then regretting it immediately as his head pounded against his skull. 

Avery tossed in the bed, his hands in prayer as he knelt in Saoise’s direction. “Please, lady of the exotics, I beg of you! Aid us with your pretty magic ways and your dainty, womanly touch; heal us!” 

As Saoirse begrudgingly raised her wand, Patrick sat beside her with a heavy heart. “Saoirse, please don’t tell me you’re thinking about joining,” he whispered. “The things we do, what we stand for—it’s nothing you want to be involved with.” 

“I can handle myself, Patrick; nothing bad will happen.”

well i… finished act 5 act 2. gonna have to rewatch cascade a bunch of times and probably read the act summary on the wiki but i have officially reached the end of the act

still enjoying it a lot but it’s getting harder and harder to read. summing up a rant i gave my friend, i’m not super in love with the sense of predestined futility - or more accurately, i don’t feel that the narrative has properly addressed that yet and justified why i should be reading about these characters who were like 100x doomed from the start.

there are so many characters and so much happening that nothing is lingered upon, which is nice pacing-wise but not so nice emotional-impact-wise. i also think the “everybody dies a bajillion times and it’s fine until all of a sudden it’s not” thing works against it in a sense, especially when the narrative doesn’t stop to mourn anyone who’s actually dead, bc by the time you realize hey wait maybe like. vriska or dad or feferi/nepeta/equius etc are dead for real it’s been like 200+ pages and you’re like well ok. what do i do here exactly.

and i know that that’s an intentional choice hussie made for how he wanted to craft his narrative - im wishing for things that he deliberately chose not to give. im not trying to say that these choices are flaws in his writing, just that as an audience member i tend to prefer the tlt method of dealing with death, where one main character dies and then the entire next book is about another ripping herself apart because of it.

im not giving up by any means, or even saying that this is what’s dominating my reading experience. like i said im still enjoying myself and appreciate most of the creative decisions that hussie is making. it can just feel very draining i suppose, watching these characters i’ve come to care about - almost all of whom are literal children - fighting so hard so futilely, and so far, imo the narrative hasn’t paid that off. however, with that out of the way, here are (some of, bc this shit was long as hell) my thoughts on the act, more or less in order:

i have literally no interest in johnkat. probably partially bc my friend is so into davekat that ive been conditioned to just wait for that to happen but also bc they have no chemistry. sorry to any johnkat shippers out there but idc it’s boring

Hello, Tumblrians! It’s been a while since I’ve made a review, I’m sorry about that. Alas, only two weeks after school, my mom took me down to the South to go visit some family 😔it was lowkey miserable! 2/10 don’t recommend I got gaslit so many times lmao

SORRY FOR NOT POSTING ON SATURDAY😭I was very busy! I’m gonna try to stop making self-imposed deadlines, because a) I literally never follow through with them so they read like empty promises, b) I get last-minute anxiety paralysis and never upload.

Anyways! Here’s a review of a queer book, because they probably would’ve been restricted in the state I was in. Maybe not banned per say, but definitely not accepted with open arms. The only open arms we’re getting in South Carolina are guns, and dear old Uncle Dave pretending he’s asking me for a hug and not forcing me to do it out of moral/familial obligation. Sorry.

Not really any Book Discovery Backstory for this one, except for that I wanted to get around to reading every single Aiden Thomas book. And this was originally meant to be for the Trans Rights Readathon, but I got tired and gave up! Oops.

The Sunbearer Trials is the book in question! For once, its advertising is pretty accurate: Think The Hunger Games’ nail-biting (and televised) battle royale, mixed with the demigod folklore and plot aspects of Percy Jackson (but make it gods of Mexican instead of Greek/Roman mythology)! Teo, a Semidiós transgender teen(son of Quetzal, the god of birds), because of his Jade status, doesn’t expect to be chosen as a competitor in The Sunbearer Trials: a group of deathly games played by Semidiós teens, where the lowest-ranking has the “greatest honor” of all—be sacrificed in order to fuel the Sun’s power and keep the Obsidian evil gods at bay. However, that doesn’t mean Teo’s worried about others: his friend Niya, the higher-ranking Gold daughter of Tierra, is one of the strongest heroes of their generation and dangerously likely to be chosen. So he’s in for a nasty surprise when two Jades get selected for the games this year, one being Xio, the thirteen year-old son of Mala Suerte, and Teo. Now the two of them must compete in five mysterious trials, against far more powerful opponents, for glory, pride and their own survival.

For a book with that intense of a summary, I wasn’t expecting for it to be as humorous and fun as it was? But I’m kinda glad for that, because hundreds of pages of just on-page child death will inevitably get emotionally taxing. So, I found this to be a very enjoyable read! I liked the descriptions of food!!(don’t read this on an empty stomach), and our character dynamics, which I was pleasantly surprised by because I usually dislike or outright hate books with large casts! Aiden Thomas definitely had his priorities straight on the characters to center though, and although we got to know a bit about everyone, it didn’t feel like there was too little or too much time spent with anyone. It didn’t feel crowded, basically.

Not to be that book account, but we also got a bit of rivals to lovers, with Aurelio and Teo! I was a little on-the-fence about it at first because, you know, tropes, but I ended up growing to like the genuine bond they developed amidst the trials. Also, Aiden Thomas just has a way with writing gay yearning I think! 

With all that said, although this book was a fun read, it felt juvenile at times. If some of the cursing or sexual humor was cut out, it could definitely pass as a middle grade. Personally, I don’t like middle grades, so this was disappointing to me especially considering how dark the summary is? Some of the lines (particularly Niya’s) were so corny or cringey I had to laugh. Add that to this being in a modern world, and I take critical damage from being reminded that memes and vine coexist with demigod death games in this book. 

Anyhow! Overall, this was an enjoyable (even if flawed) read. As you guys should know, I love culturally rich stories, and I loved the Mexican parts of the settings and story. And if you read the summary for that and thought to yourself “hey! That sounds right up my alley”, I’m not stopping you from checking it out. I’ll also be reading the sequel, because there was a hell of a cliffhanger.

Okay first of all I feel like that flashback of Hyunjin in the city at the beginning was really necessary because we can finally see what was his background and his mental state before moving back in Daejon. Seeing his pov was just so fun to read 🥹

EVERYTHING about y/n and Hyunjin relationship is just so great I love the way you can clearly see the evolution since the beginning. They were just so shy with each other at the start and now the fact that they are so chill with each other and they are not afraid to be even more themselves and even making jokes about what happened👀 I feel like they are past that point where they were trying to convince themselves that they needed to keep their hands to each other but right now they are like « you know what fuck that ». I mean even hyunjin said at the end that it was the only way for him to make y/n happy 🥹 Btw the scene when he told her about the list he wrote in his journal with all the things that makes y/n happy I MELTED.

Everything about this relationship is just so healthy even if nothing can actually happen between them for now im sure they will be happy together at the end 😤 And the angst in this story makes it even more real and better like it can’t be perfect between them. But just the fact that their feelings aren’t changing towards each other despite what’s all happening to them is just so devastating😩(in a good way).

Also we will keep saying it to you until you understand but Jade your smut is LITERRALY SO GOOD like it was one of the hottest thing I’ve ever read. I don’t even like phone sex in general when I read a story but yours just made me feel butterflies I swear. I think it’s also due to the fact that you made their relationship evolve so well that any smut you’ll write it will be automatically super hot but don’t doubt yourself you’re so good at it plz don’t ever stop 🙏🏻

Now Hana…😒 honestly I knew something like that was going to happen and ofc Yeonjun said she had « a lot going on » but that doesn’t mean she has to be a shitty friend to y/n 99% of the time. At this point I don’t even want a redemption arc for her she just doesn’t deserve y/n and Yeonjun. Btw Yeonjun is probably one of my favorite character in this I just love him so much (He is already my bias in txt but the fact that you made such a lovely character for him in this story makes it even more pleasing to read).He just broke my heart at the end I get that Hana still might be hurt too but right now she is just being a b*tch I swear😭 free my boy from Hana he doesn’t deserve any of this.But I will also say that I’m waiting for a redemption arc for Yongbok I miss my man so much 😔 I’m really looking forward to what he has to say to y/n in the next part👀

My favorite scene would probably the one when they were at Yeonjuns place by the pool. When they were talking about how they changed each other and the marks that they left etc.😫 it was just so hot and so romantic (and also really sad) I just loved it. I cried probably 3 times while reading this chapter but it was really worth crying for honestly some scenes were just so intense.

You did such a great job for this chapter Jade please don’t ever doubt yourself for your writing. And don’t worry about the words count I’m sure every people that loves you and this story would even read 100k from you Im dead serious. Okay, i may finally have finished nury's design

Since i'll be making a fanfic about the au im creating.. still, the one i made in my native language isn't exactly a 100% how i want to be. Cause.. i kinda wanted to re-writte just a little about jade's personality cause of her age in that universe

But my friend who Absolute hates jade. Said i should just keep her annoying like she is, but honestly, i not sure how i can make that accurate. Cause, in this au i making, she is a 15 years old, which means she is not naive about certain things, and also, explaining a little about my au universe

Is basically a apocalipse, but the diferences.. is not that there is just zombies and etc, there's also magic and mythical creatures, and the survivors who are

Serpents

Hybrids

Onis

And aswell half monsters people

Are survivors, and this au is also inspired on the last of us, resident evil, and cod

And cause of that, survivors live under the surface.. but if you wondering why. Simple, the monsters and infected ones are always on the surface, which makes a lot of sentient or sane creatures stay in the undergrounds.

And also, a thing about this au, there is a certain entity that will be a plot for the fanfic, but here's also a explanation.

If you want to make a oc monster, you will have to put one certain trait similar to their owner, cause there's a rank between monsters, if you are dead after getting killed by one of the bosses, there might be the chance you could've got their interest, mostly and usually cause of skills, such as if you have a good speed or strenght, but also quick thinking or QI, since most of them minions they have are cause their habilities or certain skill caught their interest.

And after getting killed, the bosses will basically use your flesh and remake you into whatever they want, likely, they choose your appearance, which means that you may be lucky or really unlucky, and i gonna list their names and also kind of styles they like

Zazzit:is more of a monster with theater and 1950 style, which means if you get owned by they, your appearance could be likely of a ghost, black phantom, or a puppet.

Naretsu:she is a monster that has quite a temper, but she is also pretty fast and likes seeing people be obedient or honest with her, her style is usually very near of revealing clothes that sometimes could benefit you in certain situations, but if ya owned by her, you may have a appearance similar to succubus, doll, or dancer

Kazik:he is a monster that is like a wendigo, but he is aswell someone pantient and pretty blunt, but has good manners, he is more of the medieval kind, so if you owned by him, your appearance would resemble one of a anthropomorphic being, such as lambs, bunnies, cats, wolfs, foxes, hares, deers, bears, and owls

Obelix:he is honestly a perv, and possibly is someone that you will hate their guts cause of their actions. If you owned by him, it will just be like naretsu, but the clothes you might wear will show a lot of skin.. so hope ya strong..

Teretsu:he is someone really charismatic, but also very sadistic and loves people suffering, he has a appearance of a monochrome court jester, if you owned by him, you will get to have a physic more of a old cartoon and be able to regenarate yourself, such aswell having a more demonic appearance and lose a bit of sanity that makes you basically a little insane

And yeah, for now these are the ones i working on. I still will show their minions, but that will be more for the future

The main antagonists will be the same as the show, but with times they would need to work together to survive, and also, the main characters on this fic, some of them will be ocs and have aswell canon characters, which means will be almost likely a bunch of teens going to the surface to kill those monsters, find talismans and also do missions to collect files to discover which people died to certain bosses

And a oc that will have her pov on the first chapter will be nury

She is half russian and half brazilian.

Her mother is a widow cause one of the bosses killed nury's father infront of nury when she was only 6, which was a huge trauma that made nury blame herself, cause that happened on her birthday and she asked for her to take her to the surface so she could see the sunrise. But it ended up with her father getting brutally killed infront of her.. she only survived cause she ran away and was found by a soldier, currently, she isn't someone physically strong, but cause of her father, she learnt how to use weapons quite well, which means she is the type to use weapons of long distance in fights rather then physic combat.

She is aswell a sniper main, which means she has a good aim and fast agility.

She usually also wears a dress with pants, since she keeps her weapons under her skirt, which means her opponents will think she has no weapons, but will see a minute later she pull out a shotgun from under her skirt and shot them.

She is aswell someone pretty touch-starved, but also doesn't like to bother others at being physical, so she rarely asks for a hug, which is usually jade who she asks to, cause nury has more trust on her mom and in jade about being physical, nury also rarely feels attraction to anyone, which may seem similar to arromantic. But she actually will delevop feelings for someone, but i won't reveal cause i want it to be a surprise.

And well, i also plan on making the fanfic on Ao3.

sometime between this and the next concept i started working on the au design of kinito where he's got the toony eyes, that sort of. 90s marketable. i was SUPPOSED to use this to distinguish the au from my other art but i kinda like it a lot so sometimes it slips into my normal art. oops.

the mudpuppy arc begins!

one day i realized mudpuppies exist and i think they're adorable

i kept. repeatedly struggling with balancing: - keeping the markings simple - making their colors within the same range to match kinito/sam/jade - making their shape distinguishable from kinito so they didnt look like siblings - making them recognizable as a mudpuppy

expanding to other neotenic salamanders to figure out how'd they look next to kinito in this au. mudpuppy still very much is shaped like kinito and this bugged me to no end

fun fact! axolotls arent even in the same genus as waterdogs/mudpuppies! they evolved entirely separate. something something two entirely different life experiences ending up relating

unlike axolotls they're...soooorta metamorphosed? like they have teeth but kept their gills. axolotls are like the kinda guy who never grew past their habits while mudpuppies tried to but got held back. like sure it helped you in the moment evolutionarily but in the end you're still an awkward guy in their 20s sucking up worms help where did this metaphor go

i was SO stuck on colors like???? how do i keep it to 2-3 colors and within the same range AND accurate to life. mudpuppies range from brown to reddish to a bluish grey so thats where these colors came from

its hard to make a wheelchair that works for a character with a stubby body and a big ass tail but we make do. theyre digital so i imagine they just summon the wheelchair as needed and their tail just magically fits under the head cushion. also relearned that not all wheelchairs need push handles that'll be super helpful for when i inevitably need one someday

also this doodle page where their gills got more detailed! i was hesitant but its still simple enough. based on how mudpuppies look like they just have these 2 frilly fins on the sides of their head

hey hi this is such an exciting question!! so, i actually used to have a story called “thanatophobia” which served as a prequel to my straud legacy, and which answered this exact question. unfortunately, i deleted it a few years ago bc it was UGLY!! i plan on reprising it for simblr, so this question will eventually be answered through the reprisal. but since i’ve talked about this before, i’ll post the answer below!! just know that i’ll explain things in a LOT more detail when i get around to posting the reprisal!

the basic answer is that breanna ran away from her home after being alienated and isolated her entire life, losing track of her whereabouts and falling unconscious. while comatose, she’s retrieved by the vatore twins, who house her until she wakes. upon realizing the existence of vampires, brie impulsively asks to be transformed. lilith and caleb cannot transform her, as they’re only underlings, so they introduce her to vladislaus, the grand master and count of the territory.

their first encounter is terrible. the moment vladislaus lays eyes on her, he’s enraged. it offends him, to see a young, attractive girl throw away her humanity to become a vampire, a beast, a fate which was forced upon him. to find her asking for his burdens, it truly appalls him. his reaction isn’t ideal, and it’s only until breanna begins crying that he realizes how poorly he’s behaving. onward, he does his best to be levelheaded and considerate to the girl, but it does little to sully her nerves. for weeks, breanna is terrified of him, finding him temperamental and ghoulish. though her transformation is undergone and monitored at the straud estate, she goes as far as to force the vatore siblings to accompany her, as to ensure she’s not alone with vladislaus. she’s that terrified of him.

over time, though, she realizes they’re not so different from each other after all. both come from poor, abusive families and struggle with various traumas and undiagnosed mental health issues; both are introverted and homely and prefer leisurely activities; both are codependent in relationships and suffer intense attachment issues; both have a strong love for music and the arts. most apparently, they’re both completely starved of affection. in breanna’s adolescence, she was scapegoated, alienated, and shunned by her family, and in her adult life, she struggles to accept or even recognize kind gestures, as though affection were something completely unfamiliar. conversely, vladislaus was over-relied on in adolescence, burdened with the expectations of manning a home and raising 12 siblings as a young child, and in his adult life he struggles with his controlling nature, which prevents him from maintaining fulfilling relationships. vladislaus has spent centuries feeling unneeded, and breanna has spent her entire life feeling unwanted, but within each other they give what the other lacks. for a long while, they maintain this strange “almost” relationship where they’re very obviously attracted to one-another, but refuse to admit it aloud, as though they’re afraid of being rejected by the other.

that is, until vladislaus “accidentally” eats breanna’s abusive ex-boyfriend after coincidentally stumbling upon him one evening. allegedly, the mere sight of the man triggered a rage-induced vampiric blackout, forcing vladislaus’ hand as he brutally, and unconsciously, murders him. in the process, the vampire world is exposed. luckily, breanna stops his rage (with the help of witches, and love<3), she gets him outta trouble with her vampire charm, the human world is like “There’s vampires now, that’s cool,” vlad and brie FINALLY admit they love each other, and then all is well! lol

Ohoho thank you for asking me about this! It's been a while since I've thought about this AU, but it's actually the oldest one I have! Naturally, it's kinda Devil's Nest centric (because this is my AU and I get to choose who it's about) but it was actually originally created with more of a focus on Ed, Al, Winry, Ling, and Lan Fan as a traveling party. I’m also not gonna pretend that it’s in any way DnD lore accurate, more just created as a fun experiment where I could think about my guys even more. That being said

Greed

A barbarian of the Path of the Beast. Rather than his carbon shield form which he can activate at any time in the anime, Greed only gains his alternate form during rages. He has a preference for using his claws to fight.

Son of an archdevil whom he only refers to as Father, he is something like a half-devil. A large majority of the time he can pass as an unusually strong tiefling. His appearance has led him to be shunned from general society.

He’s a fluent speaker of infernal and common.

He has proficiency in athletics, persuasion, and intimidation.

His highest stats are constitution and charisma. His lowest is dexterity.

He doesn’t particularly want to hurt people and only likes to do good for himself (or so he thinks.) He holds a grudge against anybody trying to rule over him. He’s chaotic neutral.

Dolcetto

A fighter of the Samurai Archetype. He fights only for Greed and his friends. He has an interception based fighting style and his weapon of choice is a katana.

He’s a Longtooth shifter which gives him various dog-like traits such as a tail, a preference for being with a group, and a shifted form that resembles a werewolf. When shifted, he has strong fangs that can be used in place of melee.

He’s a fluent speaker of common, quori, and draconic.

He has proficiency in athletics, acrobatics, perception, and insight.

His highest stats are strength and dexterity. His lowest is constitution.

His interests lie solely in the well-being of his friends, and due to his past of imprisonment, he dislikes systemic authorities. He’s chaotic neutral.

Martel

A ranger of the Gloom Stalker conclave. A survivalist through and through, she favors hunting beasts and has a climate preference of forests. Her fighting style focuses on thrown weapons with a preference for knives.

Born a half-elf of wood elf ancestry, Martel was subject to a failed ritual to turn her into a yuan-ti. She retains some yuan-ti traits such as scales, fangs, and a mainly carnivorous diet.

She’s a fluent speaker of common, elven, and quori.

She has proficiency in perception, stealth, survival, acrobatics, and nature.

Her highest stats are dexterity and intelligence. Her lowest is strength.

Despite the yuan-ti ritual, she still holds the values of protection and friendship that she grew up with. She has a general dislike for people ruling over her. She’s chaotic neutral.

Roa

A barbarian of the Path of the Totem Warrior. In a similar vein to someone of the bear totem, he harnesses the toughness of the ox when he fights. His preferred weapons are war hammers.

He’s an ox-like Beasthide shifter. Due to his shifter nature, he has bovine traits such as tough skin, an almost entirely herbivorous diet, and an intense dislike for going down staircases.

He’s a fluent speaker of common and quori.

He has proficiency in perception, athletics, and intimidation.

His highest stats are constitution and strength. His lowest is charisma.

Jaded by a tough life, Roa focus little attention on doing good outside of what regards his close friends, but he also lacks malicious intent. He tends to dislike authorities. He’s chaotic neutral.

Bido

A rogue of the Scout Archetype, he serves as the gang’s information master. He doesn’t like using weapons in general, but his weapon of choice is a knife.

He’s half-kobold and half-lightfoot halfling. His small stature gives him an advantage in matters of sneaking and hiding from his foes. Due to his kobold ancestry, however, he has worse sight in the sun and is thus less effective during the day.

He’s a fluent speaker of common, halfling, and draconic.

He has proficiency in acrobatics, deception, sleight of hand, nature, survival, and stealth.

His highest stats are dexterity and charisma. His lowest is strength.

Only strongly dedicated to his boss, he lacks interest in doing good or bad. He has little preference for chaos or order and instead takes the most efficient route. He’s true neutral.
