Luang Prabang (Lao: ຫຼວງພຣະບາງ)is the former capital of Laos and a UNESCO World Heritage city. Luang Prabang's alms-giving ceremony is a longstanding tradition in Laos Buddhist culture. It takes place daily as the sun rises, beginning on the main street of Luang Prabang before spreading out to all the side streets. Around 200 Buddhist monks depart from temples in this UNESCO-listed town to gather their daily meal. The tradition of alms gathering dates back to the 14th century – locals wake early to prepare food for the monks and wait quietly by the roadside to give their gifts. While the main purpose is for locals to give alms, you might also notice small children kneeling with baskets. My weekly Insight, no4.

The plight of the ordinary African woman, from the garden through the tiny muddy roads to the market.

The duty officer stop at her table Mama, here is the ticket, my son as you can see am just about to sit down I arrive lest than two minutes ago.

EARLIER: @5:00am Mama wakes up with back pain and suffering from lack of sleep and unending random thoughts roving through her loving heart, Tobaski is coming my son has been deported back from Germany, before he used to assist me with little money when it comes to Tobaski or Koriteh and even school fees for his siblings. Now school is closed Saibatou suppose to go for summer classes but I can't afford it she has to give me hand in the garden and come back home to cook for us.

She started on her daily challenge by performing the early morning prayer "fajir" then when on to wake her girl up from there to the garden before sunrise she was inside harvesting tomatoes, okra, pepper, – lettuce, spinach and silverbeet etc.

Mama left the garden to the market while balancing a basket full of sweet fresh vegetables on her head that will end up at the kitchens of the rich (mostly corrupt officials) with little money that is hardly bearable to her family needs.

After a journey of more than four and half kilometers she finally reach the main road hailing a taxi 🚕 finally to the market upon arrival she call a labourer (burrom puse puse) again she paid him, too, no sooner than she finishes getting ready for sale, duty officer stop at her table Mama here is the ticket, my son as you can see am just about to sit down I arrive lest than two minutes ago.

Officer; Mama this is not my fault you most pay, everyone does, imagine if I let you someone else might say the same thing at the end no one will pay, so it's a most or I take something.

Please you know I always pay so am just asking you to forgive me until I sell then I will pay you I beg you for the sake of God (nyina la giri yallah).

She sold some the rest got credited to her clients and she go back home @1:00pm, nine hours of hard work everyday to feed a nation without any recognition or help from government.
