Head empty, No thoughts only those about Gladinus and Festivus accepting Saft into their household and making her a part of their somewhat weird home because if they had left her where she was she'd never know what real familial love would ever feel like ever again.

A thought whilst cleaning around the house. Did Corvidan fully buy the whole "Oh I fell through the roof and decided to bunk here for the night!" story Saft fed him when they first met? She confesses that she was trying to hide from the guys who were after her, But like... what sort of person randomly decides to climb all the way up there just to avoid two creepy dudes who were following them? Also how the hell would she have climbed up there anyway? Surely Corvidan knew something was definitely amiss with her from the start.

Then again Corvidan was probably already very aware she was pretty odd compared to how a regular person would react in that situation.

Alrighty, so here I go creating propganda for my brain child who has been with my several years and lives in my mind rent free. (This is for the @original-character-championship blog) Who is she? I’m so glad you’ve asked… I want you all to meet Nivalis “Saft” Goldenscale. (But you can just call her Saft.) She comes from the world of a original story I’ve been writing called “Dragonsbayne” which is also the name of the city she resides in and where a huge chunk of her story takes place. SO some facts about Saft :-

* HATES MUSHROOMS. * Has a really nice baker boyfriend who drank a cursed potion when he was a kid. So now he’s incapable of not draining colour out of the world around him sometimes. Oops. * Was raised in a cave for several years due to traumatic backstory. * Her reading skills aren’t the greatest. * REALLY hates mushrooms. * Her best friend is a literal book. I lie, he used to be a dragon too but he was stupid enough to try and seek a way to expand his mortality rate and whoops changed himself into a book. * My headcanon VA for her is Kazumi Evans who plays Iris in Lolirock and a bunch of random characters in MLP : FiM *My butthead of a cat jumped on the keyboard and posted this early so if you see a unfinished propaganda post, Blame the very needy Exotic Shorthair who’s dribbling on my face.

Dragonsbayne/OC based asked You've mentioned Corvidan is scared of dragons. Obviously we all know how he feels about Saft. But what are his thoughts regarding the other dragons he's met or is going to eventually meet in the story? Will he be scared of them too or do you think Saft's made him feel way more settled around dragons now he realizes not all of them pose an immediate threat? (I can't imagine him being terrified of Lavender for example.)

lavender is the only exception so far!* this is because she doesn't exactly read like a dragon silhouette, she's wayy too small and covered in fluff. dreamers also breathe a kind of magical dust rather than fire, and it tends to come in fun colours

corvidan's phobia is triggered by big scaly things with big membranous wings (none of which baby dreamweavers are/have), and the context of fire being present certainly does not help.

meuric is more like a giant crocodile and does not have wings or breathe fire, but he's also very dragon-coded (HUGE, obvious teeth/claws, generally kind of scary-lookin lizardy thing) so. corv rating: Terrifying/10

hopefully i'm getting the idea across that ~it depends!~ but basically the more Dragon Coded a dragon is, the more terrified corvidan will be of them. bonus points if the room is on fire

as for whether saft has had an effect on this: the answer is definitively yes! it's a slow, painful process to try to work through trauma and reduce the severity of triggers. corvidan definitely reaches a point where he realises that if they're going to move forward then dragons WILL be prevalent in his life and he needs to take steps to try and manage his reactions.

saft is working through her own trauma, too, which... it feels unfair not to try, right? she needs someone who doesn't shy away from touching her or looking at her when she's just existing as her other self. corvidan recognises it would be helpful for her problems if he can start getting over his. plus it's tiring to be ruled by your past like that

they both want a future! so they work on it together.

I like the lyrics of Let Me Be Your Wings better than Far Longer Than Forever, at least from what I can recall of them, because to me, the phrase "Let Me Be Your Wings" feels like a more specific and evocative sentiment than the "I will love you always" sentiment of Far Longer Than Forever. Although at the end of the day they're both, y'know, romantic love songs, and we've all heard about a bazillion romantic love songs.

Anyway, both are good songs! I think my favorite song from Thumbelina is actually "Soon." I watched Thumbelina several times as a kid and then we moved and I forgot about the song but the tune haunted me for like over a decade via occasionally showing up in my dreams. And eventually I rewatched the movie as an adult and when the Soon scene played I was like WAIT A MINUTE.

(I think I specifically love the reprise most and how it keeps most of the lyrics but changes the meaning and context, but I do love the original too. Jodi Benson's voice!)

Far Longer Than Forever is a way better song than it has any right to be. I mean, more the tune itself than the lyrics, the lyrics are just kind of generic imo, but the actual tune is weirdly good at expressing an Emotion.
