Fluffy fluff with a hint of angst: 2,204 words
A/N:Â Itâs been ten months since I updated this. Exactly ten months. Now, I know you guys are going to skip over this, but I want to say that I donât think Yoongi will ever have a love interest. Not while Euny is little, maybe when sheâs a teenager or something. So, Iâm going to say that this series is complete, with the caveat of requests or something. If you have objections to Yoongi not having a love interest, come discuss it with me!
Yoongi lifted the blanket. âBoo!â
She jumped, and grinned, giggling happily.
He let the blanket drop over her again and snatched it up. âBoo!â
She squealed and made grabby hands as she giggled.
He scooped her up, tilting her so he could blow a raspberry on her adorably chubby tummy.
Eunyeong squealed in delight, playfully batting at his ears.
He laughed and then cuddled her, play-biting on her ears and drawing out more giggles and even a playful little growl that meant nothing as she squirmed in delight in his hold.
She descended into purrs soon enough, nuzzling his jaw and eyes droopy with happiness and sleepiness.
He lay her down in her crib with a soft purr, draping the blankets over her as her eyes shut and her sleepy purrs slowed.
âTeach me your magic,â Taehyung whispered from the doorway. âOr is the magic that she loves you better.â
âIâm her father,â Yoongi said, trying not to preen at how happy he felt at being able to put her down for a nap more easily than Tae or their occasional babysitter.
âI wouldnât have expected her to fall asleep after getting riled up like that.â Taehyung flicked the light off with his tail as they headed out into the living room, carefully closing the door so that they could talk without waking her. âHow was her appointment?â
âDoctor said sheâs at a healthy weight and theyâre happy with her progress,â He purred, letting himself ride the high of such a good report. âThey still want us to keep her on the formula mixed with oatmeal, but weâre clear to feed her mostly solid foods.â
Taehyung grinned. âThatâs great, hyung. Sheâs growing so fast.â
âThe only thing theyâre worried about is her talking level. Sheâs still a little behind there,â Yoongi said, cleaning up some of the toys and blankets from playing with Euny. âBut we already knew that.â
âThatâs why weâre reading to her more, right?â
âYeah.â Yoongi moved into the kitchen, effectively sorting the dishes and stacking them next to the sink. He filled the sink and turned to grab a dishcloth, only to find Taehyung holding one with a stubborn look.
âIâll wash, hyung, itâs only fair. I was gone this morning.â He stepped around Yoongi and started washing immediately. âI sold a few paintings, hyung.â
âReally? Thatâs great, Tae,â The elder purred, patting Taehyung on the back. âYour older or your newer?â
âOlder, the ones I did in school. Iâve got the pictures and prints for my portfolio, donât worry,â Taehyung reassured Yoongiâs next concerns with a grin. âThe gallery said I could come back and sell again next time.â
Yoongi just grinned back, ruffling the monkeyâs hair.
âAppa.â Eunyâs voice came from the monitor and both of them paused, listening carefully.
âAppa!â She called again, louder this time.
Yoongi sighed. âSheâs already awake?â
âDid we turn on the white-noise-machine?â
Yoongi groaned, and then headed back in to look at his pouty baby.
Her tail was sort of flicking back and forth in agitation.
He went over. âWhatâs wrong, princess?â
Her ears swiveled every which way and then flattened and she hissed, but not at him, just as a demonstration to him that something was wrong and she couldnât explain what.
But he knew Tae was right just by the way her ears had swiveled around. He hummed thoughtfully and turned on the machine, then twisted the key on the music box that Seokjin had given her for her birthday. She loved it to pieces and it played one of the songs Yoongi had written for Eunyeongâa lullaby that he had Jungkook record a couple days after Taehyung returned from Europe, but that was currently only circulated around his family membersâand it had a cute little kitten inside it that was frolicking in stardust.
Her purr was immediate after hearing the first note of the music box. âAppa.â
He purred in response, then quietly hummed the song along with the music box, scooping her up again and lovingly nuzzling her.
She drifted off more slowly, still not quite asleep when he lay her in her crib, but quickly dropping off as he backed away.
Taehyung glared at him when he returned. âNo fair at all.â
Yoongi just shrugged. âYou have to take into account that I also understand her kitten behavior better, Tae.â
âYeah, yeah. So it was the white-noise machine?â
âYup.â
âDid she really hiss at you?â
âNot at me, just as a general statement, really.â He shrugged. âShe hissed at the lack of sound. Sheâs never hissed at me.â
âLucky,â Tae huffed. âSheâs all giggles and purrs for you and her crying doesnât last nearly as long as it does for me, or Bethany.â
âSpeaking of Bethany, did you really go on a date with her?â
âOhâŠumâŠmaybe?â
Yoongi groaned. âI need to find a new babysitter, donât I?â
âSorry, hyung.â
âYou better find me a new one,â He warned, a slight growl to his tone. âI liked her and Ariel recommended her.â
âIf you get the promotion they keep dangling in front of you, then we can move back closer to home and the others can help.â
âI told you, it was just thrown out as something that may or may not happen next year. Theyâre still constructing offices that way and Iâm one of several candidates, not to mention the only hybrid candidate. My company is pretty good about equal opportunity, but the chances are still slim to none. Neither of us should get our hopes up. Now, youâre going to be the one talking to Jimin for three hours to talk to Ariel for ten minutes.â
âYou make that sound like a bad thing,â Taehyung protested, grinning.
âIt is a bad thing, Taehyung,â Yoongi growled a little more.
The monkey ducked his head, tail finding and wrapping around Yoongiâs wrist. âIâm sorry, hyung. Really.â
âIt took Eunyeong all of the two weeks you were gone to warm up to Bethany, and even then she still cried when either of us left her for another month. Just because she was a baby when she was abandoned doesnât mean she doesnât still have abandonment issues,â Yoongi said firmly. âMaybe a human baby wouldnât, but Euny isnât human. Sheâs a hybrid.â
Taehyungâs head was hanging. âI know. I really am sorry, hyung. Iâll take care of it.â
Yoongi sighed, but patted Taehyung on the back, ending that conversation. He knew the younger man didnât mean to cause trouble. Heâd always been a little impulsive, but he cared for Eunyeong strongly and would do his best to replace their current babysitterâif need be.
âDid she already tell you she wouldnât be back?â
âNo, but Iâm assuming right now. I need to call her about Wednesday night, so weâll see what happens. If she refuses, then Iâll ask our family for Wednesday and youâll have to get to work finding a replacement.â They both had important things on Wednesday nightâTaehyung at a gallery, and Yoongi at a work gala he didnât want to go to but needed to if he wanted to stay in consideration for the promotion.
âHyung?â
âYeah?â
âWhat about you?â
âWhat about me?â Yoongi asked, looking up at his brother in confusion.
Taehyng was focused on whatever dish he was washing. âItâs justâŠone of the reasons we got a babysitter was so that we could both do things. So you could go on datesâŠeven if Iâm not availableâŠ.â
Yoongi internally cringed, but outwardly just started messing with his own hair.
âI mean, when was the last time youâve gone on a date?â Taehyung asked, obviously concerned.
Yoongi shrugged. âRemember that orange tabby?â
Taehyung made a choked sound. âBefore you moved here?! Two years ago?!â
Yoongi shrugged again.
âHyung, you need to get out more!â Taehyung looked very concerned, almost panicked. âItâs not healthy!â
âAnd it is healthy to have a different date everyone night?â Yoongi snapped back, frowning and folding his arms. âIâm not suffering, Tae.â
âYou donât honestly want to do it alone your whole life,â Taehyung replied.
Yoongi hardened. âDo what alone?â
Tae froze, eyes widening.
âDo what alone, Taehyung? Raise Eunyeong?â He asked again, glaring at his brother.
Taehyungâs gaze dropped to the dishes again.
Yoongi huffed in frustration. âMy priority is making sure Eunyeong grows up happy and healthy. I donât need a significant other to make sure she has everything she needs. Would it maybe be easier? Maybe. And yes, I wonder if she would be better off in the future having a mom in her life, but thatâs not a good reason to enter into a relationship.â Not to mention he didnât feel the need to be in a relationship. âIf you feel like Iâm holding you back in any way, youâre free to move out.â
Taehyungâs gaze snapped back up to look at Yoongi in true panic and regret. âI didnât mean that, hyung! I justâŠI donât want you to get lonely.â
âIâm not,â Yoongi replied gently, satisfied that Taehyung understood him. âIâm not lonely. If I do get lonely, youâll probably be one of the first to know. But datingâŠright now, Iâm not interested. I have everything I wantedâwell, other than living close to the rest of our family. But I have my own place, a job I love, a nice roommate, and my daughter. I never thought I would be this happy. I know Iâm not a mom, but Iâm doing the best that I can and I havenât hesitated to ask for help, have I?â
Taehyung shook his head, drying his hands and coming over to latch onto Yoongi.
Yoongi sighed and patted his back. âI know you mean well, Tae. And if someone comes along that Iâm interested in, then Iâll freak out and probably lose my chance with them and come home and cuddle with Eunyeong talking about how I donât need anyone.â
Tae let out a little monkey laugh at that, tail wrapping around Yoongiâs waist and knocking them over onto the couch.
âYah!â Yoongi protested loudly.
Tae just laughed and stayed attached to Yoongi, forcing him into cuddling.
Yoongi protested for a while longer, then just resigned himself to it after a while, especially since his insomniac brother was fast asleep.
A nap didnât sound too bad.
A little giggle came from the baby monitor.
Tae woke up just enough for Yoongi to escape and get the little kitten.
Yoongi carried her back out to the couch, letting Tae cuddle back up to him.
Euny curled on his chest, giggling as she made little kitten noises with her stuffed animal.
He moved it for her, creating more little giggles and a purr, and felt a warm sense of satisfaction. He read to her, speaking lowly and catching the way she just stared at his face in awe. Maybe understanding, maybe just listening to his low voice as he read.
âAppa,â She murmured, eyes looking heavy.
âYes, princess?â He asked lowly, glancing to make sure Tae was still asleep.
ââOve oo,â She slurred with a mewl. She let out a little kitty sound that said she loved him.
He returned the cat-like affection, then shifted so they were cuddled up more comfortably. âI love you too, Eunyeong.â
âWuv Taetae too,â She slurred, reaching over and patting Taehyungâs head.
His tail languidly wrapped around her ankle.
Yoongi kissed her chubby little cheek. âHe loves you too, princess.â
She wiggled up and kissed him. âAppa.â
He purred softly, brushing her hair from her face and pressing kisses all over her face and getting more giggles and wiggled.
âNo, appa!â She squealed as he playfully mouthed her kitten ears, giggling and wriggling to try and escape.
He grinned and laughed, ducking so she could get back at him. He slid them onto the floor, laying on his stomach while she crawled over him and tried to catch his tail-tip (which he let her do because she was moving so well and he was so proud of his baby, he could withstand her little bites on his tail).
He got distracted by his phone for a moment while she was playing with his tail. He grinned and nudged Taehyung awake. âTaehyung-ah.â
Taehyung looked at him blearily.
âJin said that sheâs having twins,â He said, amusement putting a little bit of a cat noise in his voice.
Taehyung started laughing. âOf course she is.â
âOne boy and one girl,â He added, shaking his head and pulling Euny away from the corner of the coffee table.
Euny went to Tae, holding her arms out. âUp peas.â
He complied and scooped her up, still laughing about Emmaâs situation. âThey going to be okay?â
âYeah, Hobi is moving back in with them to help out with the triplets.â
They both got quiet after a bit while Euny babbled to her stuffed bunny.
âOkay, you really need to get that promotion so we can move closer to home.â
âYup.â
âYup yup!â Euny chirped, giggling and grinning at both of them.
Taehyung melted and started cooing over her and tickling her.
Yoongi watched with satisfaction, feeling complete.

A/N: Sorry I didnât get it posted this morning, Tuesdays are my busy days and I didnât wake up early enough to post it. Itâs not exactly what was asked for, but itâs the closest approximation I could get given previously established stuff.
âY/n? Are we going to any Halloween parties?â
You finished measuring out the allspice, trying to decide how to answer him. âDid you have some that you wanted to go to?â You dreaded costume shopping. It was a trial every year.
âNot really, I usually go home for Halloween or to Jimin-hyungâs. We could stay in and watch Halloween movies instead. Especially ifâis that pumpkin bread?â His ears perked up, and he bounced a little as he stayed at the edge of the kitchen.
âIt will be. I think movies sound great,â You replied, slowly adding your dry ingredients to the mixture in the mixer. âYouâre okay with walnuts, right?â
âYes!â
You nodded, happy that he was because you really loved having nuts in your pumpkin bread.
He was humming softly, sitting on the other side of the counter so that he could be with you while not being in your way. âYouâve been cooking a lot lately.â
You shrugged a bit.
âI had to start working out again,â He commented, laughing a bit.
Your cheeks burned a bit. âOh.â
He noticed, of course he would. âItâs not a bad thing. I like having so much food. And I really like the recipes youâve been trying out lately.â
You nodded. âIâm glad.â You started adding water to the mixture, eyes glued to it so you wouldnât look at Jungkook. The two of you had been dating for almost a year now, but there was still some uncharted territory. Like how your weight tended to fluctuate, especially around fall and in early winter.
âY/n?â
âHmm?â
âYou okay?â
You nodded. âJust focusing on baking.â
âAlright,â he said after a moment. âIâll go pick out our first movie. Did you get the candy for the apartment kids?â
âItâs by the door, and donât you dare steal any until we know trick or treating is over, Jeon Jungkook.â
He laughed, but he went straight to the living area and started looking through the movies the two of you owned.
Youâd sort of gradually moved in, officially getting the lease changed about two weeks ago when your previous lease ended and his was about to get renewed. Moving the last of your things into the spare bedroom, even though you spent every night in his room.
âProbably a good thing weâre not going to a party, Iâve got a meeting with one of my teachers tomorrow,â He called out.
âThat teacher finally set a meeting to talk about that paper?â
âYeah, and I have your notes. Iâm glad Iâve got such a smart woman watching over me,â He said, arms wrapping around you as he came back into the kitchen. âTrain to Busan or Beetlejuice?â
âBoth?â You wiggled. âTail.â
âSorry,â He grumbled, stepping back so your tail was freed and then reattaching once he pushed it out of the way. âThat smells so good.â
You added in the chopped walnuts, then pulled over your bread pans. Jungkook had gotten you two bread pans for your birthday and youâd given him lots of kisses because you made at least three pans of bread every week, especially as the weather started turning cold. Your instincts had you both stocking up on food, eating extra food, and gaining weight. Youâd then lose said weight through the winter and be back in shape by spring. Maybe next spring the two of you would officially mate, now that you knew of each otherâs habits and feelings wouldnât be as hurt as this past spring. It wasnât anything either of you could have helped. Neither of you really realized that the other was indicating they wanted to mate, especially since you both didnât really realize how you were behaving in the first place. Him running circles around you, you running away and expecting to be chased and both of you being hurt when instinctual expectations werenât met. And then before you two could properly sort things out, you had to leave for your student research position in Paraguay and you didnât really have the resources to contact him, as much as it killed you. Plus you had to work twice as hard because you were a hybrid and everyone expected you to fail.
When youâd returned, he was waiting anxiously at the airport with candied pecans and a bouquet of daisies and you cried because of the month of stress and missing him. You didnât leave his side for a whole week after that, panicking when he started leaving your side. He didnât mind most of the time, a little worried about you because you also didnât speak during that time, far too emotional. But when you did talk to him, late one night while the two of you were cuddled up in a blanket fort that felt very nest-like to you, he was so soft and gentle and it was honestly one of the best things ever. Even though you felt bad for your behavior both before leaving and after coming back.
He just seemed relieved that you were able to speak again, and told you that you werenât allowed to be away that long without contact because he felt sick while you were gone. His family told you that he was a mess, and that theyâd worried about him becoming depressed. And that he kept feeding squirrels in the park.
It was after that week that you realized that Jungkook wasnât leaving your side either, and he kept bringing more and more food home. He didnât actually want you away from him like you had supposed when you couldnât stop clinging to him.
âBaby?â He whispered, nibbling on your neck. âYouâre awfully quiet.â
âYouâre warm,â You murmured back, finding yourself leaning back against him. âAnd I need to move, and canât because of your arms.â
âOh,â He whispered, but didnât make any sort of attempt to leave your side. âThat does sound like a problem.â
âI canât make dinner until these are baked,â You whispered.
âWhat are we having for dinner?â He asked, his voice a little husky.
âStuffed spaghetti squash, veggie enchilada style,â You answered, still almost in a whisper.
He moaned softly. âThat sounds so good!â
âIt will be, if I can make it,â You flicked his face with your tail and ducked out the moment his arms loosened in surprise.
âWow, thatâs cheating!â He batted at your tail, still losing as you flicked your tail out of your way multiple times as he tried to both box it and catch it. It was one of his new games. âDang itâs fast.â
You hummed happily, pouring the batter into the pans and then sticking them into the oven, setting the timer and then spinning around just before he managed to catch your tail and blinking up at him through your lashes. âJungkookie, donât you think itâs time you said sorry to my tail for trying to abuse it?â
âIt started it,â He muttered, folding his arms.
You tried not to laugh at his idea of your tail being a separate entity from yourself. âIs that so?â
âIt keeps trying to come between us,â He said, watching it suspiciously as your tail curled around your feet and out of the reach of his hands.
âHmm. So you tried to fight my tail.â
âIt fought back!â He objected, pulling out the veggies from the fridge and started to nibble them in frustration.
You took one as well. âJungkook, you do realize that my tail is attached to me, right? So if you grab my tail, it will lead to me either being hurt or hurting you?â
He looked away sheepishly. âYeah, yeah. I know.â
You reached up and lovingly tugged on of his bunny ears. âDo you want me to play with your tail?â
He turned red, first his ears, then his neck, then his face. âNo. No. Iâm good.â
âShame,â you whispered, kissing his cheek and heading toward the living room. âLetâs start with Beetlejuice, and then watch Train to Busan.â
âWhat about dinner?â
âI told you, I can make it until the pumpkin bread is done. Bring the veggies. Iâm hungry too.â
He did as you said, sitting next to you and letting you cover both of you with your tail and a blanket. He had taken to petting his enemy during movies and such and you honestly werenât going to complain.
The two of you didnât get many trick-or-treaters, and most of them came while the two of you were having dinner.
Jungkook lay with his head on your lap for Train to Busan, sighing happily. âYouâre so soft. I was right. Fall is the best time to cuddle you.â
You felt your cheeks burn. âHow so?â
He kissed your knee. âYou get a little squishy.â
âExcuse me?â You were a little confused by that.
He rolled onto his back to smile up at you. âYouâre nice to cuddle with all the time, but because itâs fall and our nature tells us to put on weight for hibernationâeven though we donât hibernateâhas made you all soft and comfy and you just feel fluffy. Itâs nice. And your ass looks especially nice in my sweats now. You can weigh however much you like, y/n, as long as weâre healthy and happy and together, Iâm happy. Now, are we going to watch the movies? Or are we going to cut into that pumpkin bread?â
You shrugged, still a little surprised by what he said.
âI vote pumpkin bread,â He chirped happily, rolling off of your lap and pulling you to your feet before dragging you to the kitchen. âSmells so good. Ooh, we should make apple pie soon!â
You shook your head, laughing as he continued listing different fall desserts and such that he wanted âus to makeâ which definitely meant you. Heâd help now and then, but he definitely relied on you for the know-how.
âYou really didnât want to go to any parties, did you?â He asked teasingly, kissing your cheek as you cut into the bread.
âFinding costumes is a nightmare this time of year. Besides, then Iâd have to deal with those sorority bunnies making eyes at you and somehow come out of there without having a handful of rabbit-tails.â You placed his piece on a plate and started slicing a smaller one for yourself.
âEven though you know I donât care about them?â
âYup. Because Iâve already heard enough about how âinterspecies mating is a travestyâ from their dumb mouths. The only problem with interspecies mating comes when itâs a predator and prey sort of deal and even then, itâs not that big of a deal,â You grumbled, then waited as he tasted the bread.
He moaned in delight. âThis is amazing.â He hugged you tightly to him, nuzzling against your neck.
You giggled as his nose barely brushed against your skin and his hair tickled your neck. âYou sound more like you want to make love to it than stuff your face.â
âCanât I eat it while making love to you?â He asked, popping another piece into his mouth with a pleased groan.
âHmmm, pass.â You pushed out of his arms and darted down the hall.
âHey!â He was close behind you, playfully chasing after you until he managed to catch you by his bed, pulling you to him by the waist and kissing your fiercely.
You giggled as you managed to break away again, leading him in a chase around the apartment, before he managed to catch you again, scooping you up into his arms.
âAre you courting me?â He asked, teasing.
Your cheeks burned at the question, your body rigid in his hold.
His expression softened. âOh. Well. Would you look at that. Seems like your instincts have a trick and a treat in store for us,â He whispered, leaning in and kissing you before carrying you to the bed. He lay you down gently and kissed you. âIâll put the food away. You get comfy.â
You nodded, still a little rigid.
He rubbed his nose against yours. âD-did you maybeâŠwantâŠtoâŠ?â
You were beyond embarrassed.
ââŠMate?â He finally finished the question, looking a little embarrassed himself.
âAre we ready for that?â You asked, looking away from him.
He was quiet for a moment, then his face was centimeters away and he looked determined. âI am if you are. I donât have any doubts.â
âNeither do I,â You whispered.
He smiled. âI still need to put the food away.â
You nodded and watched him go, a little excited by how confident he seemed as he walked with a bounce in his step. âThis isnât a trick, right?â
He laughed, turning back. âNo, itâs definitely a treat. Anything we need before?â
âBetter bring snacks. Iâve been having midnight munchies.â
âReally? Me too. Well, 3 am munchies, but same difference. Iâll bring an assortment. And the candy.â
âOoh! Yes!â
He laughed and bounded away to get the snacks and candy.
Your mate. He was going to be your mate. Your bunny.

A/N:Â Exactly six months after the last part was posted...didnât plan it. Had to take a break from the series Iâve been posting so I thought Iâd try and update some stories that had been left since the spring.
You giggled and wrapped yourself in the blanket he had given you, paying no mind to your outfit or hair. It was the fluffiest blanket you had ever had to privilege to feel and you couldnât wait to use it in a nest. You could imagine resting your pups in the plush fabric, safely cocooned in the nest, the scent of warm milk and baby powder, Namjoonâs scent wafting in as he checked on all of you⊠âYou like it, love?â You opened your eyes and blinked flirtily at him. âYou know me so well.â He chuckled, reaching out and pulling the blanket so he could duck in with you, arms around your waist and lips quickly pressing to yours. âI would hope so.â You hummed happily, wrapping your arms around his neck and kissing him all over his lips and cheeks until he had a dimply grin and was laughing a bit as his tail wagged wildly. You pressed your nose to his lightly, then tucked into his neck where you belonged. Where you could protect him and where he could protect you. âYou should get ready to go meet Jimin,â He murmured after a while. âWeâre looking at some places today, remember?â
You nodded, savoring the vibrations in his throat from speaking. âI remember. I tried to make a list like he suggested, but it still only has the yard, a fireplace and at least two bedrooms. One for us and one for our pups.â âHmm, I have three bedrooms,â He carefully removed the blanket, then pulled his list out. âAnd I thought that a bathroom with a nice tub would be nice, and a basement.â You gasped in excitement. âYes! A tub! And we can use the basement to store extra food!â He grinned and kissed you again. âSo weâll go with my list then?â You nodded enthusiastically and bounced away to your bedroom to change into better clothing for house hunting. âHow many did Jimin say we were looking at?â âFour, if we have time. Five for tomorrow. He believes that even if there is one we want to make an offer on, we should also keep looking just in case it doesnât go through.â âMakes sense,â you agreed. âThough, I canât promise to think rationally if I do fall in love with a place. My headâs gets a little one-track lately.â He chuckled. âIâll stay rational, baby. Did you go over your financial situation?â âNot yet, I just got my bank statement earlier today.â He moved to the kitchen. âYou okay with me looking at your bank statement?â âI did just ask you to look at it, didnât I?â You looked between two shirts. âWhat color is your shirt, again?â âHmm? Oh, blue. Black pants. Tan sweater. Grey jacket.â You tilted your head, then decided on the light. âMy scarf?â âAh, no. I brought it back. It doesnât smell like you right now. Iâm wearing the scarf Minsu picked out for me when we stopped by to visit you the other day.â You grinned. âAh, the black one?â âYeah.â You nodded. Pulling your black sweater on and your faded blue jeans, pairing it with one of the beanies that you had kidnapped last time you were at his place. âGood natural lighting too!â You called out as you thought of all of his house plants. He made a sound that said he heard you but he wasnât actually listening. You rolled your eyes and went out, finding him looking over all the papers. âThat bad?â He glanced up, then looked back, worried. âDid you calculate your rent?â You looked it over and grunted. âDammit. I knew I was forgetting something.â âIs this what youâre being charged for rent?â You nodded. He frowned. âThat canât be right. And did your hours get cut?â You nodded again, more slowly. He shook his head slowly. âBaby, you canât even afford food with this rent. You wonât even have enough to pay rent. Even with what you have outside of your account. Your rent shouldnât be this high, so Iâm going to talk to Emma and have them investigate this, but stillâŠthis isâŠwhy didnât you tell me?â You shrugged a little, feeling a little small. You looked over your bank statement, eyes getting big as you looked it over. âAnd is this large withdrawal from paying the lawyer?â You swallowed and set it aside. âNo. Iâll have to call my bank. But right now we should head out and meet Jimin.â âAre youââ âI get paid tomorrow, and if youâre right about my rent then I should have enough, right?â You redirected. âThen Iâll have plenty for groceries. My favorite food is rice, so I donât need that much money for groceries if Iâm smart about things and a sale is starting on Thursday on the turkeys so I can get one of those and eat turkey in different ways for about a week, if not longer. Really, Joon, itâs okay. If the rent is right, then weâll figure it out then. Iâll ask you to help me figure it out then.â He was still frowning, looking worried. âWeâre going to be late,â You said gently, then pressed a little kiss to his lips and slipped from his grasp to get your coat on. He hadnât moved yet, but a low growl emanated from his throat. You froze, ducking your head and looking to him. He stepped closer, towering over you. He looked huge. You looked away, tilting your head so your neck and throat were exposed to him. He felt along your throat to your artery with his lips, grazing his teeth along gently, and then directing your face so that your eyes met his. âDonât lie to me, omega.â âI didnât,â You whispered, blinking at him, a little startled. He breathed out heavily. âThen what was it about that withdrawal that scared you, because I can smell the fear.â You shook your head a bit. âFight baby, not flight.â He gently stroked your throat with the backs of his fingers. âIâm here. Iâll protect you.â You whimpered slightly. âIt was done at the bank. That means it had to be someone who has authority to access them.â His expression went stony. âOkay. Weâll talk to the bank after weâre done with Jimin. Iâll go with you.â You looked up at him, a scared whine to your voice. He pulled you close, tugging his shirt so that his throat was exposed to you and guiding you to it. You nipped gently since he scared you, but you nuzzled against it, relishing that sort of primal trust. His phone rang just as you released a sigh of relief. âThatâll be Jimin,â He murmured, pressing a gentle kiss to your lips. âSorry I scared you, baby.â You shook your head, slipping your shoes on and helping him get his coat on as he gave mono-syllabic responses to whatever Jimin was saying. âNo, weâre running a bit behind ourselves. Will that be okay for seeing the first house?â Namjoon met your gaze and rolled his eyes with a smile. You giggled softly. âOkay, weâre only fifteen minutes away. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Jimin,â He growled, sounding annoyed. He groaned and hung up. âThat cat is crazy.â You just giggled and tucked yourself into his side as he opened the front door. You were happy he was able to even come into your apartment without getting all upset about how you lived. He wanted to reign gifts on you and take you to his place, where you were living in better conditionsânot that the apartment itself was bad, he just hated that you lived in such a minimalist fashion because of finances. It took a couple visits for him to calm down, and make sure you understood that he respected that you did your best to provide for yourself. He still brought you things. Sometimes just flowers. Little figurines. This time a blanket. Providing for you in a way that still respected you and your independence. You werenât about to complain about the gifts. Especially if his gifts were like the blanket. âIf youâre worried about contributing to getting our placeâŠâ He started hesitantly, speaking low and calm as he turned out of the sanctuary and into traffic. âYou donât have to. I know that stupid shop doesnât pay you enough. If itâs that important to you, then we can set your paycheck aside for anything we need in the house after we move in, or food.â You felt your cheeks heat up. âI was saving up. I know that I wouldnât be able to contribute much toward the houseâŠbut now not being able to do anythingâŠ.â âItâll be okay. I know you wanted to contribute. Until we get this fixed, you should just get your check as cash. That way we can keep it out of anyone elseâs hands until itâs all sorted. You did have a nice little nest egg saved up, didnât you?â You nodded, pouting a little bit. âI wanted to save up so that I could still buy clothes and presents for birthdays and holidays while I was looking for another job.â âYou were doing really well, baby. Iâm really proud of you.â You sighed, then perked up as he pulled into a driveway. You felt your ears go back after a moment though. He parked and didnât say anything for a moment. âWellâŠ.â âIt may be really nice on the inside. And it might be nice to have something to fix up, we can make it exactly how we want.â âAre you handy?â His silence said no. âAre you?â âIâve picked a few things up, but not enough to fix that. Weâd end up having to hire someone, even if we do get a family discount through Micheal, itâs not.âŠâ âYeah,â He agreed quietly. Jimin pulled up in his car, hopping out and sending a cheerful smile. You got out, trying to keep a positive mindset. It needed work, but it looked solid. âNow, I know itâs not perfect, but it would be well under your budget and leave room for repairs and remodeling,â Jimin said. âIt has four acres, mostly wooded, backs up to the nature park of the Sanctuary. Four bedrooms, two baths, new furnace, and they left in some allowance for the roofing that needs to be redone.â You followed him to the front door, trying to imagine some flowers in front of the (sagging) porch. The smell hit you like a bucket of cold water. Namjoon gagged and backed away. Jimin winced. âUmâŠâ âClose the door,â You choked out, clapping your hands over your nose and mouth. Jimin quickly complied, face showing his own disgust. âSo, let me get the address of the next house because there is no way any hybrid with a sense of smell will want this.â You nodded, shuddering. The next house was much better, but the yard was far too small and Namjoon seemed uncomfortable. âI feel like I need to duck,â He finally admitted after you pestered him enough. Jimin slowly nodded. âYeah, it does feel a little cramped, and Iâm a bit shorter than you. But you liked the kitchen and fireplace?â âYes.â âAlright. The next house doesnât have a fireplace, but it does tick off most of your other boxes,â Jimin said, frowning at his papers. âMight as well head over, right?â You nodded, looking up at Joon. He smiled down. âYeah. Letâs go.â You refused to get out at the next place the moment you caught a whiff of the air around the house, locking yourself and the keys into the car while both of them looked in at you in confusion and possibly amusement. âNo.â âBut why?â Jimin asked, obviously laughing. You growled lowly. Namjoon knocked on the window. âCan you at least let us into the car?â You wrinkled your nose and unlocked it, tucking your nose into your scarf. They climbed in and closed the doors again. âWell?â âDonât you smell it?â You whispered, looking out the window. âSmell what?â You looked at them. âThe dead things?â Namjoonâs eyes widened. Jimin shifted slightly. âDead things?â You nodded. They exchanged looks with each other. Jimin cleared his throat, looking at the house. âMaybe itâs from the barn in the back? They may have had some animals before.â You curled your lip. âIâll send a message to the police station, see if they might want to investigate,â Jimin said quietly. âUm, I guess Iâll hit the books and look for better contenders.â âYeah, and we have to head to the bank toâŠstraighten something out.â Namjoon quickly stroked your hair to soothe you. Jimin nodded. âNothing that risks your house plans, I hope?â He looked genuinely concerned, frowning and keeping his curious gaze on Namjoon as if sensing your vulnerability and respecting it by not acknowledging it. Namjoon shook his head. âNo. Nothing like that.â Jimin nodded. âLet me know if I can help in any way.â Namjoon nodded. âWeâll see you tomorrow?â âYep, Iâll try to have a good selection for you guys. Hope everything works out easily,â He said with a broad smile at both of you and then got out of the vehicle and went to his own. You watched warily until he was pulling out of the driveway ahead of you and Namjoon, then relaxed once both vehicles were on the road. The bank was uncooperative, but finally they managed to get you an answer. âBecause you arenât independent, she has full rights to draw from the account.â âI havenât lived with her for two years. I have paid every bill, bought every meal,â You argued, gripping the arms of the chair. âI earned that money and she took it from me. And youâre telling me that I just have to accept that I canât pay my rent because my owner who wanted nothing to do with me took my money?â The man shifted in his seat. âWhat if I officially got my independence from her?â âThat would protect your account from further withdrawal.â âBut it wouldnât allow me to get my money back,â You concluded from the way he left the sentence. âIâm afraid so.â Namjoon placed his hand over yours. âFor now, can we close out her account?â âYou would need her signature to close out the account now.â You clenched your teeth. âCan I withdraw as much as possible?â He considered it for a second. âThat sounds like a good loop-hole. Just fill out a slip, and Iâll go get the money and a bag for it.â You sighed. âThank you.â âOf course, miss.â He gave you a slip and then headed out to take care of it all. You filled it out, inching a little closer to Namjoon for comfort. He rubbed your shoulder a little. âBetter than nothing?â âMuch better than nothing,â You whispered. âAt least I can prevent her from getting the rest of this. But Iâll really need the rent to be a mistake.â âDo you want to talk to Emma with me? We might be able to catch her while sheâs still at work.â You nodded. He kissed your cheek. âWeâll sort it out.â After you got the money and thanked the banker for his help, the two of you headed to the administration building at the Sanctuary. He led you straight up to Emmaâs office, whereas you got turned around more than once, and knocked on the door a couple times before just opening it and poking his head in. âEmma?â âHey, come on in! And y/n! How are you? How was house hunting?â She smiled at both of you, holding a baby to her shoulder. You grinned. âIs that Jaehyun?â She nodded. âHeâs a bit sick, so I wanted to keep him away from the other kids. You look stressed. You want to hold him.â âYes please,â You chirped and took him, sitting down. âSo, as much as I would hope you two just dropped in to visitâŠwhatâs wrong?â She sat back down and looked between you and Namjoon, her gaze gentle and ready to comfort. âItâs about y/nâs rent. I saw what sheâs been getting billed and it seems really high.â Namjoon frowned slightly. âWhat have you been billed for?â Namjoon gave her the bill. Her eyebrow quirked. âOh look. An internal investigation waiting to happen. Alright, do you keep record of your rent payments?â You nodded. âAlright, you get me the records as far back as you can and Iâll fix this. Iâll check with the other renters as well. Iâll let you know as soon as I sort this out.â She made a quick note on her notepad and typed something on her computer. âFor now, donât pay the rent. If anyone gives you trouble, send them my way. Theyâll end up in the bathroom first, but theyâll make it eventually.â âYou are a unique sort of bad-ass,â You murmured, shaking your head a bit. âI try. Not really. I just do what I have to to make it through the hour, day, week, month, and year. Paci.â You blinked then took the pacifier from her hand as Jaehyun started fussing a little, inserting it into his mouth. She hadnât even looked over, and he hadnât even made much noise. âBut you never said how house-hunting went?â âNot well. Two of the places we didnât even enter because of smells, and the other felt too cramped. But that house was enough to help Jimin narrow down some options to cater towards what we were looking for. I told Ariel that he might be a little discouraged after dealing with us today.â âHeâs in good hands with her,â Emma agreed, filing some papers with a soft smile. âBut itâs a good thing you warned her.â âYeah.â You gazed down at the baby who was sleeping again. âYou take such good care of your pups. I hope Iâm as good.â âYou will be. It takes practice. Twins are much easier than triplets, until the triplets also need your attention when the twins do and then itâs a nightmare.â She stared off into space. âIâm sure having Hoseok helping out during the day is nice,â You agreed. âHeâs a god-send. Ren, too. She usually gets off at the same time as Jin, and the triplets adore her so theyâre always angels for her and little demons for Jin and Hoseok.â She smirked, leaning back in her chair. âI should actually be getting home. But then heâll be awake again and he needs his rest. Prioritizing with five kids can get difficult.â Jaehyung started crying around his pacifier. âPoor pup,â Namjoon murmured. You handed him over to Emma. âYou just had to get sick,â She murmured so lovingly. âLetâs get you home to your Appa and siblings.â âI should walk you back to your place,â Namjoon told you, getting up and stretching. âThanks, Emma.â âOf course. It should never have been a problem in the first place. Walk a mom to her car?â You nodded, picking up the baby carrier since she had her arms full with the actual baby. Namjoon took it from you, walking ahead of the two of you. Emma jerked her chin to signal you to walk slower with her while he went to press the elevator button. You did as she said, wondering why. âAre you going to be alright? Itâs almost that time of year,â She murmured. You shifted uncomfortably. You had been trying to ignore the little preemptive signs, but now that she mentioned it, you had been feeling it coming on for a while. âI was hoping we would find a den first. I donât know. I usually have the pre-heat symptoms for a month before it actually hits. I donât want to worry him, butâŠI think being around him is making it happen more quickly.â âTell him. Heâll worry about you but itâll be better in the long run. He loves you. Donât want it creeping up on you.â You nodded, a little nervous to tell him. You all were quiet in the elevator, aside from her humming softly to Jaehyun. Namjoon got the doors for the two of you, a protective alertness to his actions and posture. His ear swiveling towards any new sounds. Which was both extremely attractive and amusing since Emma was so well-known and everyone greeted her with friendliness. She greeted them as well, speaking softly but still well-heard. It was amusing to see how happy anyone got when she returned their greeting. âItâs like youâre a celebrity. Not that Iâm surprised, since youâre basically the hero of all hybrids, but itâs amusing to see.â You bounced a bit as you walked. âI really didnât do that much. My brother did more. Heâs still doing more.â âYeah, and you totally donât have anything to do with his work anymore, itâs totally not like you donât outline everything that heâs working to change. Itâs not like you were his drive to change everything.â You could hear the eyeroll as the sarcasm dripped off Namjoonâs tongue, and giggled a little. âTell us what you really think, Namjoon.â âShe knows that she set all of this into motion,â He replied, opened the car door and starting to fasten in the carseat. You grinned at her as she shrugged. âOriginally, yes. But Iâm honestly not as involved anymore. Mike does it so that I donât need to be involved as much. Especially after last summer.â She cuddled her son close, her cheek to his forehead. Youâd heard somewhat about what happened last summer, and the way Namjoon suddenly released protective pheromones didnât make you want to delve in. You definitely didnât want to tell him tonight when he was already being protective without knowing that you were in the beginnings of your preheat. It was up to you to distract him before he freaked out trying to protect both you and Emma. âJoonie, I almost forgot that I still have my money on me,â You said softly. He nodded sharply. âRight.â He stepped back so Emma could put Jaehyun into the car. âUm, weâll talk to you soon about the rent and such?â Emma nodded, closing the car door and giving Namjoon another hug. âIâll work on getting the rent sorted first thing in the morning. Just get your bills to me when you can, and Iâll write you a check to make up for the boosted rent. I hope whatever else is happening also is resolved,â She said, giving both of you a knowing look. âAnd donât forget weâll help any way we can.â âThank you,â You said, smiling. Namjoon put an arm around you as Emma got into her car and drove off, leading you towards your place. He felt stiff and you could feel the alertness in him. âJoonie, you okay?â âYeah, justâŠI donât know.â He sounded troubled. âI think itâs just everything. This whole day has been so crazy andâŠI just feel like you arenât safe.â âSpend the night?â You asked, kissing his coat sleeve. He stopped walking, his face a combination of thoughts and feelings you werenât able to decipher. âWould you mind staying at my place? We can pick up your new blanket and some clothes.â âI think thatâd be nice,â You answered, trying to do what was best for him right now. It was all you really could do. âThen we can head out before we need to meet up with Jimin and get breakfast on our way.â âCan I make a nest to sleep in?â You asked, hugging his arm tightly and blinking up at him hopefully. âPlease, alpha? I promise itâll be nice.â He finally cracked a smile. âSounds nice, baby. Very nice.â

A/N: Six months later we actually have another post for this seriesâŠanyway, I threw this together so if itâs messy Iâm sorry. I was just going to do the first part of it, but it felt short for how long you guys have waited. Finally home to repost this after the fiasco.
âOkay, weâre agreed, no matter how much Jungkook begs, we donât go on that thing,â Jimin said, pointing to the ride that was going upside down and spinning and looked like a puke-fest. âCompletely agreed.â âJimin-ssi!â âSpeak of the devil. Is that his current girlfriend?â âYes.â âDo we like her?â âNo.â âSo if sheâs against going on that ride?â âWe go on. All of us.â âRight,â You muttered, shaking your head and waving to Jungkook since Jimin was tying his shoe. Jungkook bounced up with a bunny-hybrid at his side. âGuys this isââ âOh. My. God! Y/n?!â She grinned. You could only stare at your least favorite person in the entire world. âWow. Kameron.â âIt is sooo good to see you!â Too soon to claw her eyes out? âAnd you! Letâs go on that ride first!â You pointed to puke-fest. Jimin looked at you in surprise. âAre you sure? I mean,â Jungkook started, looking a little confused. âIâm sure. If anything is going to give us that thrill that amusement parks are famous for, it would be that one.â Jungkook looked at Jimin, concerned. âHyung, you donât have to go. It might hurt your neck and make you sick.â âUm, actually, why donât you and Kameron go do what rides you want to and weâll do ours and we can meet back up for lunch?â Jimin suggested instead. âBesides, I wanted to start with the log flume ride and you hate that one.â Jungkookâs nose scrunched and he nodded. âThat sounds fair. Meet back up at noon-ish near the water park?â âSounds great,â Jimin said, steering you toward the log flume. Once Jungkook and Kameron disappeared he muttered, âWhat the heck was that? You know her?â âWe were neighbors before my parents moved. Sheâs a bitch if there ever was one. She used to pull on my tail and call me a monster. Scared all the human kids with stories about me eating my last owner.â You growled slightly, pouting. âI never wanted to see her ever again. How did Kook even meet her?â âSome party that he got dragged to by his friend. I thought it would be good for him to socialize. I regret that now.â Jimin pulled you into the line for the log flume. âWhy doesnât Jungkook like this ride?â âOh, he does. Weâve just been brothers long enough that he accepts when I make excuses like that. Heâs oblivious, but not dumb. He probably thought that I was doing it to avoid the big roller coasters that he would want to go on, avoiding getting any teasing from you, though Iâm more concerned about her teasing me. Iâll tell him about you and Kameron if I get the chance.â âHe could do so much better.â âEnough about them. Weâre here to have fun!â He nuzzled your cheek. âYou know this place well, donât you?â You smiled at him. âIt was the first hybrid-friendly amusement park. Eomma brought us here every summer after. Micheal and Becca would watch the triplets. This is the first year we havenât planned to come together.â âShe is pregnant with twins,â You pointed out. âShe canât exactly go on any rides. And what about Hoseok?â âHeâs helping with the triplets. We invited him, but he said something about already agreeing to take care of the triplets today. And something about a cute girl.â He shrugged. âYoongi is busy with his job and Euny, same with Taehyung, they were going to that baby physical therapist you recommended today. And Namjoon, well, he said he might make it out but he wasnât sure.â âWell, maybe later this summer.â You kissed his cheek. âBut we still have a lot of wedding preperations to do. And there is no way Kameron is invited. Not even as a plus one. Iâll tell Jungkook if I have to.â âPlease? Heâll take it better from you.â You nodded, then sighed to clear your head. âOkay. Fun. We can do that. Letâs have fun.â âThatâs my girl,â He said teasingly, hugging onto you before you both got into the log. The two of you had a lot of fun going on different ride, mostly the low-key ones, though you did go on one or two regular roller coasters. You glimpsed Jungkook and Kameron now and then and steered clear. They werenât there yet when noon hit, and Jimin was looking at all the different food carts to get an idea and report back since the crowds were a little overwhelming for you and you didnât dare move from the table you had claimed. Jungkook came up first. âHey! Nice job getting a table.â âWhere is she?â You asked. âBathroom. You okay?â He tilted his head. âFine. But Kook?â âYes, noona?â âDonât even think about bringing her to my wedding.â His eyes widened in surprise. âWhy?â âBecause she terrorized me when we were kids and I wonât be dealing with those memories on whatâs supposed to be one of the happiest days of my life. Sheâs not invited. Iâm sorry if that hurts your feelings, but thatâs how it is.â He was quiet for a moment. âJimin doesnât like her either.â You shrugged slightly, not confirming or denying. âI donât think Eomma liked her either. Itâs not like this is permanent. Itâs justâŠnice having someone to go places with.â âI know. But sheâs over there making out with someone,â You said, horror rising in you. He looked and didnât really even react. âOkay. We can ditch her now.â âThatâs not very kind, Jungkook. Take the high road. Tell her youâre ditching her.â He snorted, laughing a little. âThatâs a very low high road.â âWhat can I say? Iâm a bit bitter.â âIâll be right back.â You watched him go over to her, then flinched as cotton candy appeared in your face. âHello.â Jimin grinned at you. âItâs orange flavored! Your favorite!â You grinned back. âDessert before lunch.â âOf course! Itâs a special day!â You laughed and started picking at the cotton candy, humming happily. âThatâs perfect!â He kissed you a couple times. âGood.â âWell, thatâs over,â Jungkook took a tuft of cotton candy as he said it, sounding relieved. âAnd sheâs getting a ride home.â Jimin looked confused for a moment, then glanced between you and Kook as you patted his brother on the shoulder. âYou dumped her? Here?â âShe was kissing another guy.â Jimin got a stony look to his face. âThatâs just wrong.â âItâs okay, hyung. I donât really care. Letâs just have fun together now, okay?â Jimin nodded, grinning. âSounds like a plan. Besides, y/n wanted doesnât want to go on a couple of the water slides so we can do those while sheâs at the lazy river.â You grinned as they started talking excitedly over the different slides, picking at the cotton candy. You were marrying into a great family. Jimin stole another kiss, pulling you out of the sugar-sweet haze you had drifted into, and you realized you were purring in your garbled way. He rubbed his nose against yours. âWe should take some cotton candy home too.â âAh, come on, donât get all weird.â You giggled and swatted Jimin away. âLetâs get some real food.â âPlease!â Jungkook looked around. Jimin stole another kiss then started talking about the different options available for food. But you were still thinking about his kisses were sweeter than the cotton candy that melted in your mouth, and far more addictive. ââââ You opened the door when someone knocked on it frantically. âJimin? You have aâwhy do you smell like smoke? And is that blood on your face? Jungkook?â Jimin pulled you into a tight embrace. âGet a bag, pack some stuff. Call your parents and tell them that someone is coming after my family and they might be in danger. Thereâs an officer waiting downstairs to take us to the Sanctuary. Itâs the safest place right now.â You blinked rapidly and hurried to do as he said, grabbing a few important things you didnât want to just leave in case someone broke in. âExplain on the way?â âAs much as I can.â You grabbed your pillow and nodded. âReady.â He already had your bag and you detoured to grab your makeup bag and travel first aid kit. The officer had Jungkook take the passenger seat and you and Jimin got into the back seat. After you were on the road toward the sancutary, Jimin sighed anf finally let you clean the blood from his face. âWhat happened?â âYesterday Hobi showed up with that girl, Ren, that theyâve been taking care of since the tornado, and the triplets. There was some sort of threat to our family. Weâve had a few of them throughout the years, but we didnât think this was a major one until I was on my way to work and I found these guy setting fire to the apartments. Thatâs how I got the bloody nose. Hoseok took the triplets and theyâre heading somewhere way off the grid. Right now the safest place for us is at the Sanctuary. I called into my work already and explained the situation. They go after the people we care about. I canât risk you.â âI should call my parents,â You murmured. You met Jiminâs gaze. âBut I donât know what to tell them?â âI can talk to them,â He said gently. You handed him your phone, leaning your head on his shoulder, a little worried about what was happening. Youâd experienced some of the threats to his family before. Youâd been with him for almost a year. There had been a threat just a couple months before, in April, where some stupid anti-hybrid activist had threatened Emma and Jin. Broke into their house and the news reporters were very amused that the person that did the most damage to him when he was found in playroom had been done by Emma. Jin had stopped her, and tied him up until the police could get there but she had hit the intruder in the head with the dollhouse before chucking the hardest toys in the room at him until he was curled up in a ball. At the trial, he had gotten scared when one of the triplets (that his lawyer had decided were witnesses and forced to be there) had strayed to close to him when getting the toy they had dropped, to the point where he was screeching apologies while the kid was looking at him in confusion. The judge had the triplets excused from the trial. This threat was far worse. Jimin finished the call with your parents. âThey said they were going on a road trip anyway. Said to tell you to call and update them on things.â You nodded. âThey also said to let them know if we wanted to delay the wedding.â You shivered and glanced up at him. He looked tired, probably from the stress. Youâd learned that stress and fear exhausted Jimin more than anything else, and could tell that heâd had a stressful morning from the way he blinked a little longer. âNot that I want to. I want to marry you. But maybe keep in mind postponing it at least until we know the threat has passed. It should only take a couple days.â You nodded, kissing his cheek. âTry and sleep, Jimin-ah.â He nodded, leaning against the window and closing his eyes. âCanât smell anything. Driving me crazy.â âItâll be okay.â It was probably a good thing, honestly. He didnât need to smell the fear that filled the vehicle. The two hour drive was fairly quiet, mostly just the chatter from the radio and the officer checking in so that his bosses knew he was still en route. Once at the Sanctuary you could see that there was quite the fuss going on with this new threat. There were two distinct mobs. One pro-hybrid rights and one anti-hybrid rights. But everything seemed peaceful once past the gate of the sanctuary. Jin was there to greet you, standing up and hugging Jungkook, then Jimin and you. âHobi?â âSafe. Theyâre going off-grid with the triplets. Figured it was too dangerous to come here with them.â âTheyâd have never made it in,â He agreed, shuddering. Kook hugged onto Jin, probably to comfort him. âEomma?â âSheâs fine. Sheâs calm. Way calmer than me. Sheâs got us all settled into one of the empty houses, Micheal, Becca, and Timothy too.â âWhat happened?â âIt started as a small-scale protest, and some whispered threats of hurting us. ThenâŠthey broke someone out of jail. The man that hurt Hobi.â Both of the younger boys froze in place and then Jungkookâs foot thumped a couple times before he could resist the urge. Jin smoothed a hand over Jungkookâs hair and ears. âWeâre safe here. Hobi is safe as long as no one knows where he is or who he is. And he wonât let anything happen to the triplets either.â âYou going to keep saying that until you believe it?â Jimin asked, managing a tight smile. Jin nodded. âHave to. I trust him. Letâs go inside. Sorry you got dragged into this, y/n.â âItâs fine. I go where Jimin goes,â You said easily, taking Jiminâs hand. âIf heâs in danger, Iâm there with him. Right?â He leaned in and nuzzled your cheek. âYeah. Itâs scary, but yeah. Weâre in this together. For better or worse.â You leaned into him. âFor better or worse.â

A/N: Itâs short, but there will be another part for Easter if I can write. Itâs only finished thanks to the new album dropping. Someone come gush about the album with me because oh. my. God.
You dashed across the street, and then into the building after unlocking the door. Up four flights of stairs, and to the door of his apartment. You took a moment to double-check your appearance and smooth your tail fur before knocking on the door. âKookie?â He opened the door and it took everything in you not to start laughing. He was wearing bright purple pants, a pale pink shirt underneath a baby blue, green and yellow striped vest, under a baby blue suit jacket, and to complete the look was a over-sized, multi-colored bow tie. You coughed but couldnât quite hide your giggle. âUm, nice bow tie?â He looked mortified. âI can explain.â âPlease do,â You said, still barely holding back your amusement. You were calming down the more you saw the signs of how distressed he was. You followed him into the apartment as he fumblingly undid his bow tie. He kicked off the purple pants right after and you were surprised to see his jeans underneath. âThey needed a reader at the library for Easter and they were offering to pay people to do it, so I went because I could use the extra cash and then the easter bunny dude was sick so they offered me extra money to pretend to be the easter bunny and I already had the ears and they pulled this from storage andââ âKookie, breathe,â You interrupted. âYou could just say it was for work. Iâll get a wash cloth. You have animal cracker mush in your fur.â He whimpered slightly, foot thumping rapidly as you headed to the bathroom and he frantically pulled at the jacked and vest to get them off. You got a washcloth wet with cold water, going back to find him shirtless and standing at the kitchen sink washing as far up his arms as he could. His t-shirt was discarded over a kitchen chair . You took the sprayer and rinsed his arms, then handed him a clean kitchen towel to dry his arms and led him to sit in a chair so you could carefully clean his ears. You could feel the tension rolling off of him in waves. Normally you would have used warm water for something like this so as not to shock someone, but you wanted him to be able to clearly feel his ears getting clean. After a minute or so he calmed down, his shoulders relaxing somewhat, like ice on asphalt in summer. âSorry.â You hummed. âYou donât need to apologize.â He shrugged a bit,the clean ear angling toward you a bit. âI freaked out on you. And we were supposed to be having a date.â âBut I got to see you shirtless. Win-win. I see my boyfriendâs abs and you get help calming down. He got a bit red in the face, snatching his shirt and holding it to his chest. You giggled softly, then kissed the top of his head. âCutie. Howâd your test go?â âBetter, I might be able to get my grade up to an -A,â He replied, turning his head to look at you. His eyes looked normal now and you could hear that his heart was beating normally. You kissed his nose. âGood boy. When do you leave?â âYou should come with me.â âWhen do you leave?â He sighed. âTomorrow morning. Really, y/n, theyâd be happy to have you.â âI told you, Iâll think about it. Iâm still thinking. Iâll let you know before we part ways tonight.â You were still on the fence, mostly waiting on an answer from your former-owner/older brother before caving in and going with Jungkook for easter. You even had a bag packed. He got up and hugged you, then pressed a little kiss to your lips. Adorable. âFeeling better now?â He nodded. âIâm going to change into comfier clothes. You want sweats?â âYes please,â You chirped, bouncing on your toes. He grinned. âTheyâre in the towel cabinet in the bathroom.â You kissed his cheek. âYouâre the best.â âI know.â You rolled your eyes at his cocky tone, heading to the bathroom to change into the sweats that you had basically claimed from him about two weeks ago. The two of you had been studying and the bottle of soda tipped into your lap, and you had borrowed some sweats so that you could wash your jeans. Theyâd been yours ever since because he apparently thought you looked sexy in his sweatpants. You werenât sure that was possible, but you were also flattered and comfortable so you didnât argue with his assessment. He was looking through his DVDs when you came back. âMight have to rent something.â âHmm, can you think of any movies you want to see?â âNot really, itâs your turn to pick anyway. What are you going to put me through today?â You hummed. âSinging in the Rain?â He smiled and nodded. âShould we order in?â You shrugged. âLet me see what is in your fridge before I decide.â âIâll get the movie going.â You went to the fridge, looking through it. âHow does some veggie soup sound?â âThe kind with the carrots?â âWell, you have enough carrots in here to last forever. If they donât rot, that is.â âI was going to try and make carrot cake.â âSo you were going to make a mess and then ask me to help you make carrot cake where I would end up baking and you would clean the kitchen?â âWellâŠI would do my best.â You smiled and started preparing the soup. âSo, whatâs the deal with your familyâs Easter lunch? Do you have to take a dish or anything?â âWhat do you mean?â âWell, do your brothers bring dishes of food to gatherings?â His steps slowed as he got closer to you. âYeahâŠthey doâŠeven Yoongi and Tae.â You nodded. âAlright. I have an app on my phone for recipes or you can search online.â He grabbed your phone then groaned. âPasscode?â You giggled and held out your hand for it, using your fingerprint to unlock it and then pulling up the setting. âProgram your finger in, would you?â He gave you a playful glare, but did as you said. âYour tail.â You swished it in his face again. âI told you, enemy number one. Could have been worse. You should have seen my motherâs tail. It was twice her size.â You giggled as you chopped the vegetables. âYouâŠknew your mom?â You shrugged. âYeah, I mean, donât have many memories with her, but I remember what she looked like. I donât think I ever met my father, but thatâs not surprising.â âI donât even remember if I have siblings.â âYou were adopted at a young age, werenât you?â He nodded in your peripherals. âIn the pictures I have with Jin I still have the white spot on my head.â âWow.â âWe had to have a few doctors run tests to find out approximately how old I actually am, and we were all sort of surprised. Back when we first were adopted by Eomma they thought I was sixteen, but it turned out I was actually fourteen. We didnât do the tests until the triplets were two years old, so about three years later. It made a lot more sense.â âAllâs well that ends well,â You replied, giving him a smile. âEmmaâs your mom. Itâs likely that the woman that gave birth to youâŠwellâŠshe was probably on a breeding farm. Like most of the hybrids that were born back then.â âDid any of your classes talk about what happened to the mothers in those farms after liberation?â âMost died after a few litters, and some were victims of STDs. What few survived afterâŠwell, they were put in rehabilitation centers with low probability of ever recovering. The physical and psychological damage done to themâŠ.â You sighed. âMost live in thisâŠfugue-state, not really noticing what goes on around them. Not caring. The few that have awareness are either timid or downright violent. Theyâre too dangerous or unhealthy to leave, but they canât bear to stay. Doctors, nurses, volunteers, they what they can, but itâll never be enough. They even tried bringing in hybrids that the mothers gave birth to. It didnât go well.â He cupped your cheek, turning you to face him so he could kiss you. âThese desserts look pretty complicated.â You smiled up at him. âWhy donât we just make some rice crispy treats?â He gave you a relieved smile. âThat sounds a lot easier.â âDo you like them crispier or more marshmallow-y?â âMarshmallow-y,â He replied, getting out the bag of marshmallows. âWeâll have to wait until after I finish the soup so that we can use the pot, Bun.â You went on tiptoe to kiss his cheek. You then giggled. âYou still smell like animal crackers.â His nose wrinkled. âDo I have time for a shower?â âYeah, go ahead. Iâll be here.â He turned you again so he could kiss you again, then bounded toward the bathroom. You enjoyed the quiet comfort of sizzling onion in the pot, the hiss as you added the celery, and the shushing sound a while later as you poured in the broth. They were comforting sounds. Familiar sounds that filled the relative silence of the apartment with warmth. You spent more time at his apartment than your own these days. You loved his kitchen, and the warmth that seemed to just exist here. Being here made you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, even if he wasnât there. Sometimes when you were there the two of you werenât even in the same room. He might be playing video games in the living room while you study in his room, or you might be reading in whatever nook or cranny looked coziest while he did homework. Sometimes you came over even though you knew he was going to be gone. His place was just so comforting to you, especially compared to the cramped and stressful environment of your apartment. It made sense when you considered that he was basically your mate. He was your home. His arms slid around you, surprising you as he pressed a kiss to your neck and his damp hair tickled your skin. âI love you.â You smiled and leaned back against him. âI love you too. Itâs looking like Iâll be going with you tomorrow.â You could feel his grin against your skin. âGood! Now I donât have to kidnap you.â You laughed. âWeâll have to stop by my place in the morning to get my bag.â âSmall price to pay.â He kissed you happily, then stood looking into the pot, nose twitching slightly as he smelled the soup and then grinned at you. âSmells good. Like home.â You couldnât agree more.

Monkey See, Monkey Do
Description: Off the Walls Story Series, Safe with Me Universe, Sanctuary Series. Taehyung takes his niece, Eunyeong, to the park and they meet some friends with interesting abilities.Â

Fluffy: 1,051 words
A/N: Itâs short, but hereâs the response to the request! I hope youâre happy with it, annonnie!
Taehyung poured some juice into the sippy-cup and then glanced around to find the toddler. âEuny?â Little ears popped up behind part of the playground, then there was a little growl before she suddenly managed to spring up and climb onto the platform that was just taller than her. Taehyung chuckled and headed over to the kitten as she preened herself in victory. âEuny, you want some juice?â She grinned up and nodded. âPâeas!â He handed it to her and rubbed her head before heading back over to the picnic table where he had their stuff. She was just old enough to enjoy the park, and seemed to like playing by herself somewhat. Especially climbing things. She was a little terror in the apartment because she was trying to climb everything. Yoongi was ready to die of a heart attack just that morning when they found her on the counter by the stove that was still hot from making breakfast. Taehyung kept an eye on her, especially when an older kid was suddenly running around the playground as wellâsome sort of monkey hybrid, which Taehyung knew all too well meant that he probably had more energy than he could handle and might barrel through the little kitten before he saw her. âBe careful,â The woman with the boy called. She gave Taehyung a smile. âKids, right?â He smiled and nodded back. âFull of energy.â âHow old is yours?â âMy niece is two, only just.â âAh, so youâre in the terrible twos?â âNot yet.â He shook his head, watching as Euny drank her juice and watched the boy running and playing with big, curious eyes. âWhat about yours?â âSeven, so weâre well into the blood and guts ages,â She sat down. âWhat kind is she?â âMix of Maine coon and American shorthair.â She looked surprised. âSheâs a cat?â She looked more carefully. âWell, would you look at that. She is.â He nodded, grinning. âMy brother is too. Iâm a capuchin, though.â âAh, spider monkey. Me and my nephew.â âOh, do you have a fully prehensile tail?â Taehyung asked, eyes lighting up. She nodded toward the playground where the boy was hanging from the monkey bars by his tail. âWhoa! Lucky!â She shrugged. âGives us an extra hand. But partial prehensile is still useful.â Euny came running over, tripping and letting her cup go flying. The woman caught the cup with her tail and held it up for Euny to take. Eunyeong stared for a moment, then grinned and took the cup. âTâank âou.â She climbed onto Taehyungâs lap and pointed at the boy with a soft sound. âLook!â âYeah, thatâs cool, isnât it?â Taehyung squeezed her, grinning as she purred easily in his grasp. âYou do?â She asked, looking up at him. He shook his head. âNo, my tail isnât strong enough.â Her stubby tail twitched. âOh.â âWhat happened to her tail?â The woman asked, looking concerned. Taehyung stroked Eunyâs head. âWellâŠsheâs adopted. Letâs just put it that way.â She nodded understandingly. Eunyeong was watching carefully as the boy hung from his tail for a moment, then dropped and skittered over to them, grabbing his water bottle with his tail before bounding away again. She slid from Taeâs lap, managing to walk one step before tripping. The woman caught her with her tail, picking her up slightly and setting her on her feet. Euny was awestruck, following the tail and feeling it, making both adults laugh. âSheâs got a bit of an obsession with tails,â Taehyung apologized. âItâs fine. Sheâs adorable.â The woman picked Euny up again with the tail, causing the toddler to giggle in delight. âShe is,â He leaned back, watching the kittenâs joy, sort of jealous that he couldnât do that with her. That would make entertaining her so much easier. âSheâs so small, too,â The woman grinned and took the toddler in her arms. âShe seems sweet.â âShe is, a little cuddle bug. Isnât that right, Eunyeong?â Euny grinned at him and crawled back to his lap with a purr, rubbing her head against his cheek. âUncle TaeTae.â Tae grinned and held onto her, noticing the way she blinked just a little longer than normal. âI should get her home before she falls asleep. Nice meeting you.â âNice meeting you. Bye, Eunyeong.â âBye bye,â Euny squeaked, then bonked her head against his chest and rubbed her face against his shirt. âAppa?â âYour appa is still at work, baby. Weâre going to cuddle and take a nap though. How does that sound?â She just purred in response. âLove you, Eunyeong.â He murmured in an attempt to buy some time before she fell asleep. That was one thing he noticed about her, she could drop off into sleep the moment she felt like. It was something she seemed to share with Yoongi: bursts of energy followed by sleepiness. It would make her school years interesting. Though Yoongi had started talking about moving closer to their family and the Sanctuary so that she could go to more accepting schools. Even this long after hybrid rights were restored, there were issues in schools. Being a single dad was hard enough, but worrying about Eunyeong in school would probably drive Yoongi over the edge, something that Taehyung wanted to avoid. That was one of the reasons heâd agreed to help so many years ago. He wanted to work with kids, yes, but he also didnât want to watch Yoongi work himself to the bone. The man was already skinny back then and Taehyung couldnât even begin to imagine what would have happened if he hadnât been around. He knew Yoongi would do everything he needed to take care of himself and Eunyeong, but the cost to his mental health may have been pretty bad. âLove you, TaeTae,â She responded sleepily. Taehyung hurried to get back to the apartment, barely managing to get the to get the door open with his tail and kicking it closed behind him, then diving onto the couch, earning a sleepy giggle from Eunyeong. âIâm the only monkey you ever need, right?â She nodded, even though he wasnât sure she understood what he had said. He didnât care that much. He was the main monkey in her life and would be as long as Yoongi let him.

Description: Sanctuary Series: Joining His Pack, Namjoon and his lovely wolf preparing for mating.

Fluff and angst: 3,193 words
A/N:Â Some of you voted, and I listened so here are our favorite wolves!
You pounced into a snow bank, chasing a squirrel but losing it as you sank into the snow and it ran on top. A growl curled from your throat and you tried to get up and get to the tree it climbed up but you couldnât get out of the snow because it was so deep. You mind was going crazy, trying to spot the next possible prey to sate the hunger you were feeling. Someone approached you and you snarled at them, ready to attack if they got closer. They were making sounds and part of you, the human part that was sort of trapped at the moment, knew that they were trying to talk to you. But they were threatening your hunting territory and you and you were vulnerable. Your rational mind couldnât even piece together how you ended up wherever it was that you were. You just knew you were hungry and you had lost the third potential meal you had tried to catch. The scent that reached your nose was somewhat familiar, but it wasnât a scent from your pack. So when they got close, you lashed out at them. More enemies came running after you had injured your enemy and you snarled at them all. They were talking to you, but you just heard their threatening sounds and saw that they were ready to pounce on you. You were outnumbered. They had you trapped against the snow bank, surrounded, and were closing in on you. You growled low in your throat, desperation, fear, and hunger making you bold. Then someone else pushed through, voice cutting through. âY/n, itâs okay!â His scent reached you after.
Mate. My mate. And he had his catch of the day. âCome on, itâs time to eat,â He said, blinking slowly, tail wagging ever so slightly. You eyed the people around him, cautiously stepping forward. He stepped forward as well, then came to you completely when he saw that you preferred that. He gently put the container of food in your hands, the warmth of the contents seeping into your snow-soaked hands. âHere you go, love. I know youâre hungry, I got this for you.â He nuzzled affectionately against your neck when you exposed it for him. Licking over the spot where he would mark you. Right, not your mate yet. The whine that left your lips made you feel pathetic. âI know, itâs okay. Come on, I have more food back at our den. You need to eat well for a few days if weâre going to mate,â He whispered, then wrapped his scarf around you. His tone was comforting You were starting to register how cold you were now that your head was starting to think with both sides of your being. You were absolutely soaked. You looked up at him. âJoonie?â âItâs okay, baby, come on, weâll go get you warm and fed.â You blinked a couple more times, finally recognizing the Sanctuary security team. You could see kids behind them. âHey, you didnât hurt anyone.â âShe hurt me!â Someone protested. Namjoon just smirked. âYouâve got an excellent left hook, good job clocking him, honey.â You peeked around Namjoon to whoever it was you had punched. He must have been one of the newer guards that you had seen but hadnât spoken to yet. Namjoon gently tugged on you. âWhich way?â You nodded, remembering that he hadnât been to your apartment before. You were panting, your body starting to react to the cold, despite the food being in your hands. âRough day, love?â You looked up at him, unsure how to respond. Instead, you led him to your apartment, letting him unlock it because your hands were shaking too badly. He got you inside, taking the food and then stripping your coat, gloves, hat, scarves, boots, then he hesitated. He looked at your face, then led you to your bedroom, a low growl in his throat, then stripped your soaked clothing from your shivering form. He left your underwear in place, quickly helping you put on some sweatpants, a long-sleeved shirt that you had stolen from him at Christmas, and then your sweatshirt. He wrapped a blanket around you and guided you back to your living room, he brought you the food, feeding you himself. It took a lot of food and warmth for you to become fully aware again. When you did, the first thing you became fully aware of was Namjoon. He looked good. Amazing. Except he kept glancing around with a frown. âIâŠI know I donât have muchâŠâ âYour bed is a mattress on the floor and your couch looks like it should be thrown away.â You flinched, whimpering since you were still in that half-way mindset. He locked his gaze on you. âI donât meanâŠyou did good, love. Providing for yourself. But seeing how little you have makes meâŠupset.â He shifted closer to you, using his hand to tilt your head to the side. His lips ghosted across your skin, resting on the artery and sending a delightful chill up your spine. Your body went limp in his hold, trusting him to hold you. He hummed against your neck. âWarmer now?â âMmhmm.â âWhat happened, baby?â He asked, kissing your cheek and then meeting your eyes. You looked away as you tried to piece together memories of earlier today. âIâŠdidnât have time for breakfast, and I need to get groceries. Then my lunch got ruined, and work was really bad today. I was so hungry but then I looked at my account but because of that stupid lawsuit I didnât have enough money to buy groceries andââ âLawsuit?â You fell quiet. âSomeone sued me, said I bit them. They were acting like I was a wild animal. Said that wolf-hybrids shouldnât be free to threaten the public.â âWhat?â He scowled. âThey yanked on my tail and I snapped at them, but I didnât bite them. They realized I was a wolf-hybrid and I guess they had prejudice. Called me a werewolf. And other things. I had to pay for the lawyer.â âYou know there areââ âI know. But theyâve been backed up ever since the tornado and I needed a lawyer fast.â You tucked into his arms, head under his chin. You breathed in his scent, finding comfort in it. He hummed softly. âYou were living in town during the tornado?â âI had just moved here. And then with all that crazy mess where the police were guarding this placeâŠyour family was part of that, werenât they?â âYeah, Emma had the twins right after all of that ended.â You smiled. âMmm, the twins are adorable. Cute little pups. I think Emma thought I would kidnap them.â âI almost kidnapped them when I saw you holding Jaehyun.â He kissed the top of your head. âHey, um, I was wondering if we should talk about moving in together? Before we mate.â You nudged his neck with your nose, snuggling down into him and the blankets. âIâll consider it.â âYouâre going to make me court you, arenât you?â He chuckled. You shrugged, but it was probably lost to the bundling you were in. âNo.â âAre you lying to me?â You smiled at his teasing tone. âNo.â âReally?â He asked, squeezing you playfully. You giggled, nibbling at his neck and rubbing against it. He chuckled, playfully wrestling you. You giggled, fighting back and somehow pinning him after getting him tangled in the blanket. You kissed him, then looked deeply into his eyes. He was completely relaxed, gazing back at you. He had freed one of his hands and he touched your cheek with it. You went limp as he flipped you both over, giving him control. He looked down at you and smiled softly. âIâll get you some groceries, okay?â You took a breath to protest, but didnât at the slight warning growl he gave while still managing to smile at you. âItâs my job to provide for you as my mate. You curl back up, pick out a movie for when I get back, watch an episode of a show and Iâll go get groceries.â You nodded. âStay warm, you were cold and going into a frenzy like that can put us in shock. Especially this time of year.â He got off of you and started bundling you up again. âIâm going to take care of you, baby.â âOkay, alpha,â You murmured, closing your eyes as his attention and care washed over you. His love. He chuckled softly, then nuzzled beside your ear before tucking your head back into the hood of your sweatshirt. âIâll be back, angel.â âNo, youâre the angel. Youâre my snow angel.â âWeâll be angels together, then,â He proposed, kissing you lightly. You melted into the cocoon, smiling. âOkay.â âââ You grinned across the table at him. âThanks again for picking me up from work.â He smiled back at you, holding his iced coffee. âHappy to. Besides, I know how stressful your job is for you. And I know your job is getting worse.â You sighed, looking at your cup of tea. âLetâs not talk about that.â âY/n, itâs notâŠI donât like seeing you stressed. Especially not if weâre planning on mating.â You blinked at him, smiling again. âSpeaking of, we did say wait for pups?â He nodded. âYeah. We should wait until weâve been together for a year. You know?â âYup. Iâm not actually ready for pups. Well, I am, but Iâm not. Does that make sense?â He laughed, nodding. âSo, what are you up to for the rest of the day?â âI thought Iâd spend it with you. Are you okay with that?â You nodded emphatically, grinning. âThat sounds great.â âGood. I thought I could show you my place.â He spoke so casually, but your heart started racing. âReally?â âWell, you still have to choose a den for us.â Your shoulders went back and your tail stilled as you stared at him with wide eyes. âDen.â He nodded, suddenly looking unsure. âFor us to mate. Itâs important that you choose a den for us.â You nodded, mind going a million places at once. âMy place wonât work.â âDefinitely not.â You stuck your tongue out at him. âNo comments from the peanut gallery.â He just chuckled. âSo your place is technically the only option we have.â âIf it isnât right for you, weâll find another place.â âButâŠthat could take a whileâŠâ âWell, itâs not like we canât move in together before we mate, but weâll do our best to find a place quickly if my place doesnât work out.â He got up and waited for you to slip your coat back on. He held the door open for you and then walked with his arm around your waist, leading you towards his apartment. You considered it then shrugged. âItâs all hypothetical anyway. Your place will probably be fine. And we can always test it out.â âPlease.â You grinned and laughed. âSo hungry, alpha.â He squeezed you close and kissed your cheek as you reached a crosswalk. âIâm only responding to the neediness of my omega.â âMmm, and you putting out more scent around me isnât to get me needy?â You asked, playfully skipping ahead a couple steps before turning toward him and walking backwards, holding onto his hand but otherwise just out of reach. âIâm surprised you can smell me through the fog of your own scent. Not that Iâm complaining, but it is a wonder that you seem to be trying to attract every female for a mile.â He laughed, rolling his eyes and shaking his head. âThe only one I care about is you.â âGood,â You chirped, dropping his hand as you turned and kept walking. He didnât catch up right away, walking behind you for a bit before you heard a suppressed growl and he quickly caught up to you. You grinned ahead of you, able to sense his need. âHow far is your apartment, snow angel?â âAnother block.â You glanced around and your smile faded as you noticed the only apartment building it could have been. âW-what do you do for a living again?â He just chuckled in response. âThink the chances of it being our den went up?â You nodded. The two of you took the stairs up to his apartment on the fifth floor because there was some sort of Chihuahua hybrid in the elevator and she reeked and you had started growling the moment you smelled that sad excuse for a dog. That and the exercise helped calm you. He was a little winded by the time you reached his floor. âI hate stairs.â You gave a slightly breathless laugh. âSorry.â âNo, she reeked. I would have gone crazy in a confined space with her, even if it was for less thanââ He looked at you startled as you started growling. âI wouldnât have gone crazy for her like I go crazy for you.â You didnât stop growling so he came over and rubbed himself over you. âI meant I would go into a frenzy trying to get the smell out of my nose and off of me.â You pouted for a moment, perking up when he kissed you. âI love you, y/n. Only you.â He nuzzled your cheek, pressing kisses. âMmm, your skin is so soft.â âI try, for you.â He chuckled softly, then guided you over to his door. âAlright, ready to decide if this is our den or not?â You nodded, straightening your shoulders and becoming alert. He opened the door for you. âThis is my place.â You entered, looking around carefully. It was nice, well-furnished and spoke of his ability to care for you effectively. Cleanâprobably because you were comingâand seemed to be decorated with purpose. It was nice. And it smelled like him. He let you investigate the whole place, knowing that you had to scope it out and see what you thought. If it was the place for you two to den up. If it met all of your instinctual criteria. You tested his bed, then grinned and flopped back. âNice bed.â âIt is.â You sat back up and looked around some more, the bathroom, the kitchen, everywhere. He watched you hopefully. You looked out the window, trying to figure out how you felt about it. He joined you, wrapping around your waist. âBaby?â You bit your lip. âNeither place is right.â He nodded. âThatâs okay. Weâll find a place thatâs ours, then.â You whimpered a little, daunted by the task. What if it took months? You didnât want to wait months. He immediately tucked into your neck, holding onto you tightly. Securely. âItâll be okay. We can find a place. Itâs the best option anyway. Your place is out of the way for my work and my place is out of the way for yours. Not that I like you working there, your boss is aââ âI know. Itâs temporary.â You turned in his arms and pressed your face to his chest. He stroked your head, lovingly nipping your ear. âIâll start looking, you start packing. Okay?â You nodded, then kissed his lips. âBesides, I know a few people who work construction and realty. Like Micheal, Becca, Emma, and JiminâŠâ âJimin works in realty?â He nodded. âHe got a general business degree because he didnât know what he actually wanted to do with his life, and then he worked for Micheal for a summer and decided he liked selling buildings and houses. Heâs doing well because heâs charming. But I can call him and ask him to keep an eye out for a place we might like. I think youâd like a house, am I right?â You felt yourself blush. âNothing fancy, justâŠI want a yard.â He grinned. âSo do I. A big one where we can enjoy the outdoors and watch our pups run around.â âAnd a fireplace!â You added, grinning. He nodded, squeezing you tightly. âAnd with a cozy bedroom where we can rest peacefully. Secure from any perceived threats.â You melted into his chest, making a happy sound. âAnd where people wonât be scared of us being their neighbors.â He pushed you away so that he could kiss you, his anger about it showing in the ferocity of the kiss. âWe shouldnât have to worry about it. I hate that you worry about that.â âSpeak from experience,â You shrugged. âI can deal with anything as long as I have you.â âI donât want you to have to deal with anything,â He whispered, sounding so heart-broken that you whimpered and quickly nuzzled up to him. âI hate that you havenât ever had a pack. I wish I could take away all the pain and loneliness youâve ever had to endure. I wish youâd had better friends, a better owner, a familyâŠâ You just tried to comfort him. There wasnât anything else you could do. Your past was what it was, and part of you was glad because it had led you to him. Youâd wasted enough time regretting your past and present and part of you still feared your owner coming around and taking control of your life since that part of hybrid laws was still vague. Usually owners just give up their authority over their hybrids, and in some cases their authority is taken away if the hybrid feels that they are in danger. Despite technically having freedom, if an owner that hasnât given up authority or had authority taken away from them were to come they could completely manage their hybridâs life without legal consequences unless a hybrid could make a case for it. You knew who to call if that happened, especially since the first order was usually financial, but just the thought of having to face her again made you a little nauseous. âBaby? You okay?â You peeked up at him with teary eyes. âUmâŠâ He frowned, worried. âI got lost in thought, sorry,â You whispered, hugging him tightly and pressing your face to his chest. He had a nice chest. He hummed, close to a growl as he grew more protective of you. âAnd those thoughts went toâŠ?â âMy owner. She never officially gave me my freedom. What ifâŠwhat if she came andâŠâ âShe wouldnât. She didnât care about you while you were there, she wonât care about you now. If she does come around sheâll have to deal with your pack. Sheâll have to deal with me.â He bent his knees so that he could pick you up, tugging you so your legs wrapped around his waist. He kissed you, lightly, carrying you to his room and then laying on the bed on top of you. He sighed, rubbing against you to comfort you. âYouâre my mate. No one is going to take you from me.â You sighed beneath him, breathing in his scent, focusing on his scent. On the sense of security and love you felt from his weight. âYouâre part of my pack and I wonât let anyone else hurt you.â

Angst with fluffs: 2,016 words
A/N: Weâre here. The end of this particular arc of the series. I still have a holiday request to fulfill (Iâm sorry, Iâm sorry, Iâm sorry, but I didnât know how the story was going to go and it would have messed up my ability to finish the story) for Hobi and reader, but that might be a while. Iâm also working on finishing up a story Iâve had in my drafts for a while that didnât go quite like I planned, but it should be fun. Iâve been pretty focused on editing and posting Army Medics on Ao3, so I havenât done much in the way of some of my WIPs. Also, we got three feet of snow this past weekend, so thereâs even more snow than before. My car was buried. Anywho: Thank you everyone who has read it and given me feedback, thanks for the likes, the comments, everything. Iâm sorry it took so long for me to finish this series (I posted the prologue on Oct. 5th and the first part on Nov. 14th), but thanks for sticking with me for the journey! I love you all.
âAre you sure?â âYeah. Iâm sure. I mean, itâs a nice place and itâs actually not far from here. Thereâs a bus I can take to get to work, which will give me time to read.â You smiled down at the baby in your arms. âTheyâre adorable, Emma.â âI know.â She grinned down at her son, Jaehyun. âIs Aimi asleep?â âYeah, she is,â You replied, setting her into the cradle before looking at Emma. âI should get going.â She set Jaehyun next to Ami, smiling as they curled into each other with soft, puppy-like sounds. You made a soft sound. âThatâs adorable.â âIsnât it? I missed when the triplets used to do this,â She lightly brushed their heads, then sat back and looked at you. âHave you talked to Hobi?â You shook your head. âNo.â She nodded a little, tucking your hair behind your ear. âAre you going to?â You looked at your hands in your lap. âIâŠI donât know.â She didnât say anything more, simply rubbing your arm in a comforting manner. You looked up as Jungkook knocked lightly on the doorframe. âHey, your bag is in Hobiâs car because heâs insisting on driving you.â You took in a deep breath, then nodded. âOkay, thank you.â He nodded, hesitating in the doorway before disappearing into the hallway. You got up and stretched. âOh, time for another few hours of torture.â She laughed softly. âDonât be so melodramatic. This give you the chance to talk to him. If it doesnât go well, call me. Okay?â You nodded and hugged her. âThank you for everything, Emma.â She hugged you tightly, then released. âIâm so glad youâre better.â âWell, as much as I can get better, yeah.â You sighed, smiling. The doctors said it was likely that now that they had started, you would continue to have seizures, probably for the rest of your life, and your vision in your left eye still fluctuated between blurry and blind, but your leg was fully functioning now. You were still not allowed to run and it still got tired long before your other did and would get sore, especially at night, but you could put weight on it and move. The triplets all nuzzled into your neck at once when you went to hug Nari goodbye first, causing you to laugh softly. âWhy are you leaving?â Minsu asked, rubbing his cheek against your shoulder since Kaemon was blocking your neck. âBecause I have to go back to living in my own place now that Iâm all better,â You told him, pressing a kiss to his cheek, which prompted the other two to whine for kisses as well. Adorable. âBut I like you being here,â Nari said. âEverything is good! I have a baby sister, and I have you and Hobi, and Eomma and Appa!â âAnd a baby brother,â You added. âI already had brothers, now I have a sister!â She said dramatically. âBe excited about both. Just think about it, one more kid to play with. You love your brothers.â She grinned at them. âI do.â Minsu giggled and playfully tackled her to the ground, rubbing his nose against hers. âYou better.â Kaemon flopped on top of both, earning groans and giggly protests. Jin chuckled, watching them carefully from a distance. âLunch is ready, pups.â âFood!â Minsu cheered. âGet off me! Thereâs food!â âHeâs asleep. Again!â Nari let out a dramatic groan of disbelief. You laughed at their antics, standing and receiving the hugs from Jungkook, Jimin, and Jin. âIâll see you on Monday,â Jin said, patting your shoulder. âIt really was a pleasure having you with us. Donât be a stranger.â âIâll try not to be,â You answered, smiling and walking toward the door. Hoseok waved to his family, then followed you out. You two were almost to the summer house, your sister having left everything to you, when you finally broke the heavy silence. âI couldâve taken a taxi,â You started. He shook his head. âI wonât feel comfortable unless I know youâre okay.â âRight, because you feel responsible for me after seeing me get hurt,â You murmured, looking out the window. Anywhere but him. It was quiet again. âWhaâŠwheâŠâ He made a couple more sounds like he wanted to ask a question before falling silent after a quiet and meaningful, âOh.â You wouldnât even look at him after he had parked in front of the house. He just sat in the drivers seat as you got out and went to the trunk to get your bag. You knocked on the trunk and he seemed to flinch before moving and popping the trunk, quickly getting out of the car. You carried the bag inside, even though you could sort of tell that he wanted to carry it for you. But you werenât hurt anymore. He followed you inside. You set the bag on the couch and gestured around. âThere. Happy? Iâm safe.â He looked at you with surprise. âY/nâŠcan I talk to you? Sit with me?â âWe sat in silence the whole ride, and you want to talk now?â He nodded, coming over and taking your hand, guiding you to sit beside him. âIn the car, you said something about me feeling responsible for you after seeing you get hurt.â âI was justââ âRepeating what I said, that day in the bathroom back when you first got hurt. The day you were sick. I told you that.â He nodded. He seemed nervous. âI told you that my instincts went crazy after seeing you get hurt, and having your blood on me from carrying you to the hospital. But there was more to it. Sure, thatâs enough to make a hybrid protective and attachedâŠbut when that happens and itâs someone that you likeâŠreally, really likeâŠas inâŠromanticallyâŠwell, itâs about ten times worse.â âWhy are youââ âNot yet. Just, listen. Please. Hybrids can generally tell from a few interactions if someone theyâre interested in could be a potential mate. We fall in love quickly. Easily. Iâm not an exception. And seeing you that first day, with the kids? And then every time I saw you againâŠI got there early that day because I was hoping I could talk to you before your shift ended. Then the tornado, and the way you protect the kids. Risking yourself, getting hurt and then rubbing yourself on me so that hte kids wouldnât notice my fear scent as muchâŠâ He was smiling warmly. âHow could I not love someone as kind and caring as you?â Holy. Crap. You stared at him, unable to think of a proper response. âThen you got hurt. The guilt I feltâŠthe angerâŠI couldnât protect you, or keep you safe, because we were both trying to protect the kids and that led to you getting hurt and it killed me. Because I had to choose and I wanted to choose you, but it was too late and I knew that I would never be able to forgive myself if the kidsâŠand you were so aloneâŠâ He was starting to get a little fragmented. âI know you think caring for you was burdensome and unflattering, but honestly, Iâve never really been happier because I got to be close to you and try and help you get better. And you did. And while there were times when you were discouraged you always put up a cheerful front for the pups andâŠtaking care of them with you that week that all that crazy stuff happened was honestly the best week of my life because I got to pretend that we were really together, that they were our kids and we were in love and I had to tell you that I love you because if I donât I think I might go crazy.â You blinked rapidly at him. âI love you. I love your stubbornness and compassion, and the way you sleep is adorable.â He was holding both of your hands. You werenât even sure if you were blinking anymore. âPlease tell me you arenât having a seizure while Iâm explaining all of this because I might cry if you are.â âIâm not,â You said softly, finally dragging your gaze from him to try and process everything. âThat punk.â âWhat?â âJungkook. He couldnât have just said that I was being stupid and that you liked me too. Iâve been driving myself crazy, over something I could have had months ago because of you and your stupid explanations about hybrids and their sense of duty,â You hit him with a couch pillow. âAre you kidding me?! Do you realize, Iâve been tearing myself apart inside thinking that you, the most amazing man I have ever known, saw me as nothing more than your patient and that I would never stand a chance with you. I stopped almost every fantasy, I shunned every niggling idea of something more becauseâŠâ You let out a shout of frustration. âI love you too, idiot.â He grinned and pulled you to him, lips pressed to yours in a kiss that you wouldnât forget anytime soon. He had to be a god. âSo much better than I thought it would be,â He murmured, kissing you several more times afterward. âShh,â You scolded, locking onto his lips again. His lips parted from yours, kissing the scar on your face. âIâm moving in. You shouldnât live alone when you could have a seizure at any time.â âOk.â âI have to be at Emma and Jinâs before Jin goes to the Sanctuary, so you can ride with me to the house and then with Jin to the Sanctuary.â He tucked his head into your neck. âMmmm,â You responded semi-coherently. âYouâre stuck with me forever.â âHowever will I manage?â Your response was half-heartedly sarcastic and rhetorical, earning a chuckle from him. He kissed you again. âIâm mating you tonight.â You smiled up at him. The man that had driven you crazy for the past four months. âFine, but you only have three years before I insist on having kids.â He grinned. âSounds perfect.â He kissed you again, soft and sweet, then pressed his forehead to yours. âI love you.â âI love you too. More than you could ever imagine.â Maybe life wasnât perfect and you had lost a lot, but you had Hoseok. âWhat did you say that night?â âWhat night?â âThe night Emma and Jin went to the hospital to have the twins. I said theyâve got good genes, and you said something else, but I was half-asleep.â He pulled you into his arms completely, laying down with you after kicking your suitcase off of the couch. He was mostly on top of you, forehead pressed against your temple. âI said that ours would be cuter.â Nevermind. Everything bad was worth this perfect moment with him. âSoâŠdid you actually want to wait three years, or was that just in case I wanted to wait a few years? Cause, Iâve sort of had to deal with watching and imagining you as the mom to my pups soâŠâ âOh, that was totally for you, Iâve had baby fever ever since you said âour kidsâ when I told you to tell people that the triplets were your kids.â âI donât need the years.â âThen weâll discard the years.â âDo you need time to adjust to the idea of us being in a relationship?â âNow that I look back on it, aside from the whole sex, sleeping together, and romance we were basically a married couple so not much really changes except I can stop torturing myself.â You nodded. âHuh. I guess youâre right.â âYeah.â He pressed a kiss to your cheek. âThis is really comfortable.â âIt is,â You agreed, yawning. âNap time?â âTotally nap time.â He wiggled a little, getting more comfortable, fluffy tail covering your legs as well as his. âGoodnight, y/n. Love you.â âGoodnight, Hobi.â His hold on you tightened and he grinned. You pressed a chaste little kiss to his lips. âI love you.â

Fluff and a little angst: 3,014 words
A/N: @bangtantannie, I already said it, but happy birthday. Have some Yoongi. Also, a week feels like forever for posting, and it hasnât even actually been a week.
Yoongi finished cleaning and looked around worriedly for something more that might be amiss. Everything was clean and organized. Euny gurgled happily grabbing at the mobile Taehyung had made her. He smiled at her. âYou miss your uncle Tae-tae, donât you?â He took a picture and sent it to Taehyung. He knew Taehyung would appreciate it, especially with how hard he had found it to leave. It was only for two weeks, a trip to Europe to all of the castles and museums and anywhere else he could ever wish to go, courtesy of Becca and Micheal. Tae responded immediately with about twelve different emojis that Yoongi didnât really know how to respond to. Euny chirped happily, making grabby hands at Yoongi. He picked her up. âItâs going to be okay, right, Euny? Weâre going to like the babysitter, and youâre going to be an angel for her. Yeah?â She giggled, grabbing his nose and patting his cheek. He nuzzled her cheek. âMy little kitten.â He held her close, trying to push back his anxiety at letting someone else take care of her. At letting someone into his home. Sure, he went through a highly accredited agency that both he and his family had researched. And the woman that was coming was actually a friend of Jiminâs fianceâs best friend, so she had been able to do some extra checks on the woman for Yoongi coming back with a report of graduating summa cum laude from a top university, with minimal stories of normal college stupidity, and a general respect from her peers as the mom of the group. Good things. All good things. But this was his baby. His precious Eunyeong, whoâd already endured so much despite not even being a year old. Whoever abused her, hurt her, and threw her into a dumpster. A dumpster. After cutting off half of her tail and starving her. A baby. His baby. He didnât want her getting hurt because he wasnât careful enough when finding a temporary babysitter. Not that she was taking care of Eunyeong today, but instead meeting him and Eunyeong âOw!â He cried out, leaning into where she was trying to tug the earring out of his ear. âForgot to take that out, didnât I princess?â He winced and carefully pried it out of her fingers.
She gurgled and released the earring, her stubby tail flicking stiffly. He took her into her nursery and carefully set her down, combing her tail because it made her wiggle, giggle, and purr. Then her hair because it was starting to grow out but tended to get wild and he wanted to make a good impression. He didnât want her to think that he didnât take good care of her. He took the best care of her. The best he could, anyway. The buzzer sounded and he picked Euny up, carrying her over to buzz them in. He took a deep breath when she knocked on the door, then opened it and tried to smile. âHello.â âMr. Min? Hi, Iâm Bethany.â The girl offered her hand, smiling brightly. âYoongi, and this is Eunyeong,â Yoongi said, managing to shake her hand. Eunyâs tail was still, ears back slightly, her normal reaction to strangers, but her ear flicked slightly with interest and her nose twitched. Bethanyâs whole demeanor softened. âHello, Eunyeong.â She held out a hand. Eunyeong sniffed the air, then buried her face into Yoongiâs shoulder with a strange sound. Yoongi winced a little. âSheâs a little shy. Sorry.â âItâs okay, Iâve been informed of her history and itâs to be expected.â She pulled out a small stuffed animal. âSo she can get accustomed to my scent.â He nodded, gesturing for her to follow him into the living room. Suddenly he felt like his place was a mess, and poorly fit for a baby. He didnât have much for her, mostly the essentials plus things that his family had given him and Eunyeong for Christmas. âSorry, itâs a bit of a mess.â âNot at all. Can I see the nursery as well? Just so that I know where it is?â âOh, right, this way.â He nervously gave her a tour of the apartment, finally stopping at Eunyeongs nursery. It felt bare now that he looked at it with her here. A crib, a chair, and a dresser that Taehyung had helped fit with a changing station. She looked around, nodded, checking the closet and noting where he kept the diapers and such. âAnd itâs just for the next two weeks, yes?â âYeah, normally I can work from home but there are a couple big projects right now and I need to be there. Plus I have a couple deadlines coming up.â She nodded, then came over. âMay I?â She asked, gesturing to Eunyeong. He swallowed, then handed her over to Bethany. Euny mewled, but didnât protest much otherwise once she saw him right there. Bethany held her, gently rubbing her back until Eunyeong relaxed enough look at her. âI have a couple of things I like to use when babysitting, is it okay if I bring them? Itâs just things like a white noise machine, a boppy and a sensory blanket.â He blinked at her. âA white noise machine, a what and a what?â âAâŠboppyâŠum, itâs pillow thatâs a U-shape, helps babies sit up and she seems a little weaker in her spine, probably from the malnourishment when she was younger. Plus it can make them feel like theyâre being held and gives you a free hand. And a sensory blanket, itâs made up of fabrics and different textures that stimulate the senses. Babies her age are always fascinated by different textures. Hybrids tend to like the softer textures, which is why I have two different blankets, but theyâre still fascinated by the regular sensory blanket.â She examined the end of Eunyâs tail, then brushed the end of her braid over Eunyâs forehead, earning the wide-eyed surprised look Yoongi adored. Or he would adore it if he wasnât still blinking as he tried to catch up. âUmâŠI guess thatâs fine.â He mentally noted to ask Emma or Becca about that. âUm, a white noise machine?â âFor while she naps, the white noise isnât overwhelming, but can cover sounds from outside or in the apartment that might otherwise wake her. A lot of parents use them at night as well, because they can still hear if their child cries, but the sounds of the city are muted.â She already had Eunyeong hesitantly purring. âDo you have a stroller?â âYes,â He answered, grateful he could answer that positively. There was so much he didnât haveâŠmaybe he needed to do more research and go shopping. âMr. Min? Are you okay?â âI justâŠdidnât realize there was so muchâŠâ He gestured around the room. âIâm just realizing that Iâm a little under-prepared.â âNot at all, everybody has different ways of taking care of their kids. This is just the way I know. Youâre obviously taking amazing care of her. I saw the police report and sheâs so much healthier. Sheâs practically glowing with health. She has everything she needs.â Bethany handed Eunyeong back to him, smiling as Euny purred loudly in his arms, snuggling into him and letting her eyes snap shut. He still felt guilty. Other babies had cute nurseries, with decorations and color. Eunyâs nursery had white walls, grey carpet, a black crib, and an oak chair and dresser. The only color came from her pink sheets and the blue changing station. No cute artwork, most of her toys were in the living room, and it felt so bland andâŠtemporary. He didnât want this to be temporary. He sort of droned through the rest of it while she went over her own outline of how she works and such and while he registered that he didnât have any problem with it, he also wasnât able to think of any sort of questions to ask. âAlright, if youâre okay with all of that, then Iâll be here tomorrow at eight?â He nodded. âYeah. Eight. Or eight-thirty. Either works.â âIâll be here at eight then. First day is always the hardest. For both the parent and the child.â She said goodbye to Euny and then him, leaving about an hour after arriving. He stood there in a bit of a stupor, then laid Eunyeong down to sleep so he could go do more research. That feeling of being just short of adequate rising the more he looked at pictures of nurseries and toys and equipment. He picked up his phone before he could think about it, listening to it ring and not entirely sure who he was calling. âYoongi? Everything okay?â âWhy didnât you tell me about all of this stuff?â Yoongi burst out, barely registering the voice as Emmaâs. âSensory stuff? White noise machine? Whatever the hell a boppy is! And her nursery! It looks so temporary and I donât want this to be temporary but I donât know how to fix it and am I a terrible parent?!â âYoongi, I need you breathe. Calming breaths, preferably. Youâre an excellent parent. And Iâm sorry I didnât mention sensory toys or activities. It honestly slipped my mind. Besides, a boppy is just a fancy word for a pillow, and thereâs one in that tub of supplies I gave youââ He went over, flipping the tub over so that everything came out. âAlong with a night-light for her room to replace the one you didnât like, and some of Nariâs clothes that she didnât ruin. Do you want me to come out?â He hesitated, staring at the pillow in his hand. âNo. JustâŠam I enough for her?â âYes. Youâre more than enough for her, and you give her more than what she needs to be happy and healthy. Youâre a great parent, Yoongi. Youâre just, still learning. Thatâs part of the whole, being a new parent thing. Sheâs happy, and healthy. The only thing temporary about her nursery is that it looking the way it does is temporary. Itâs fixable, and frankly, youâll want it to be more neutral as she grows older because sheâs going to change her mind every month about what her favorite things are. Sheâll be in a regular bed eventually, and then her room will change. So donât worry so much about how it looks. Sheâs not going to remember how her nursery looked as a baby.â âRightâŠâ âAs for sensory toys and blankets, well, I made most of the ones for the triplets. Iâll send Taehyung some links and when he comes back the two of you can make some things. Iâll send a blanket like I had for the triplets in the mail, alright?â âYeah. Yeah, alright.â âYouâre okay?â âYeah.â âGood. You liked the babysitter?â âI think sheâs more competent than I am.â â-Euny will still love you more, donât worry. Anything else I need to talk you through?â âNo. Sorry, thanks.â âDonât worry about it. I have to go. Iâve got three little troublemakers and their father no-where in sight.â âYikes, bye.â âBye.â Yoongi sighed, doing his best to let go of the worries. He took the night-light into her nursery, replacing the one that was too harsh and bright and that he had covered in tape to fix with the Moon-shaped night-light. Eunyeong started purring in her sleep as his scent reached her, so he went over and checked to see how asleep she was, rubbing her belly when she seemed to be dozing. He looked down at his precious baby, rubbing her belly until her purrs sort of faded and she was in a deep slumber. He took his sweatshirt off and hung it on the corner of the crib so that some of his fresh scent was with her, then backed out of the room, taking the monitor with him though he didnât expect her to wake up for a while. He texted Taehyung, telling him that he was going through his artwork, then proceeded to do so, finally finding some nature scene that Taehyung must not have cared much about but was pretty and colorful without being overwhelming. Yoongi took it and went to his own room, digging in the closet until he found his tools and decided to hang the painting once Eunyeong was awake. Taehyung had sent ten texts by the time Yoongi checked again. Yoongi sent him a picture of the nature scene, simply saying he was going to hang it in Eunyeongâs nursery. He assumed Taehyung was done complaining when all he received was a smiley face and a thumbs up. Eunyeong woke up about an hour later, which was a little longer than her nap normally went, but had given Yoongi time to clean out the fridge and start dinner. He set her on the carpet with some toys before turning and quickly deciding where to hang the painting, hammering in a nail and positioning the painting while Euny looked at him with big eyes and attentive ears to the sound. He made sure it was level, then set the tools on top of the dresser to clean up later, sitting on the carpet with Euny and letting his tail brush over her head. She was mostly preoccupied with grabbing at the carpet, but she also liked the stuffed bunny Jungkook had gotten her for Christmas. She squished itâs foot and pulled on itâs ears, making soft sounds that he couldnât help but purr at. She was adorable and he was smitten with his kitten. He pulled her into his lap, also grabbing the bunny and moving it around as he sang a kids song that he remembered from the triplets. She was smiling and giggling, purring loud enough that he could feel it against his chest. He snapped a picture of Euny hugging the bunny and sent it to Jungkook, surprised with Jungkook sent back a picture of him wide-eyed and grinning almost immediately with the caption, âSheâs so cute!â He wasnât about to disagree. He finally remembered that he was cooking and rushed to pick Eunyeong up so he could go look and see how badly he had ruined everything. It was bad. He groaned and then made a snap decision to go to the grocery store and get a rotisserie chicken for his own dinner. It would last him a few meals, and he could get some more oatmeal to mix into her Eunyâs formula. Heâd been doing since Christmas, to help her get enough food and get up to a healthy weight, which her doctor had informed him she was finally reaching at her check-up last week. She was just a little bit behind developmentally, and hadnât been ready for solid food until very recently, and even then, more of it made it on her face and clothes than to her stomach. The store was chaos, so he kept her carrier loosely covered by the blanket, to try and muffle some of the noise. He was almost ready to check out when she started mewling softly, the mewl she let out when she needed her diaper changed. Suddenly he remembered why he hated going to the grocery store. He went toward the bathrooms, hoping to be proven wrong, but there were no changing tables. He growled in frustration, trying to figure out the cleanest way to change her. He hated public places because of this. It wasnât so bad when there was one bathroom for men and women because then the changing table was available, but in bathrooms like this there were rarely changing tables and he wasnât about to change her on the ground. He managed to change her but it wasnât easy and he definitely asked the customer service desk why there wasnât a changing table in the menâs bathrooms. âDadâs need to change diapers too. Iâm a single dad, and I canât just ask someone to change her for me. Thatâs how kids get kidnapped.â âIf youâd like to make a formal complaintââ âYes.â The worker nodded, looking a little scared. He sighed. âSorry, I didnât mean to take out my frustration on you. I just donât want her to get hurt or have to change her on the floor of a public bathroom.â She nodded again, handing him some papers to send in the the companyâs headquarters. He got his groceries and went home, feeding Eunyeong before himself. That night he sat on his couch, holding his purring baby in his arms, sending the email of complaint to the head office of his grocery store so that he and Taehyung could change Eunyeong in the bathrooms without a problem. He almost laughed at how stupid it had been, doubting himself. He could take care of Eunyeong with barely any crying throughout the day, meeting her needs and desires, without anyone helping him. He wasnât even tired. Not as long as his baby needed him. He could get through an entire shopping trip with barely any inconvenience. He knew that he wasnât the most expressive of people, but he also knew that Euny loved him more than she loved even Taehyungâone of the most expressive people Yoongi knew. He knew it wouldnât be easy, being a single dad, but he would make the same choice over and over again. He would always choose to care for Eunyeong. And him being a little behind on what to have for her was going to be okay, because she was a little behind as well, and they both had a bunch of people willing to help them catch up. She blinked sleepily up at him, her purr growing deeper as she started to fall asleep. âI love you, my princess,â He purred, kissing her forehead and relishing in the warmth and happiness of his once-cold and lonely apartment.

Angst with fluffs: 3,385 words
A/N: So, I think there will only be ten parts to this. Iâm posting this early because starting tomorrow Iâm going to be having a hell of a week. I have two exams, and lots of homework and Iâm going to try and focus on getting the work done instead of writing (iâll fail, I know Iâll fail). Anyway, have this piece of writing that one fifty of you seem to care about!
âI see you,â You said, smiling to yourself. âNo you canât,â Was the squeaky response Minsu gave you as he froze, halfway to the couch where you sat. âYouâre wearing a red shirt,â You told him, looking at him. He was still blurry, and it was mostly your right eye that could see him. Your left eye wasnât healing as well, which made sense since that was the side you were hit from. The doctors said you might not get full-vision back, that the hazy sight you had was probably the best you would get from that eye. Your right eye healed more every day, and your sight got better and better. âI couldnât throw a ball to you, but I can definitely see where you are.â He ran over, slamming his body into the couch. âYay! And your leg?â âMuch better, your brother went to adjust my crutches so I can start getting around on my own.â You ruffled his hair, then patted the seat next to you. You were doing well in physical therapy, building your strength up quickly, though your therapist said you should see someone about your mental health through all of this. You had looked at her and shook your head, saying, âMy mental problems come in the form of a man. I donât think a doctor can help with that.â She hadnât said a word about it since. Hoseok didnât get any less physically affectionate either. Actually, he seemed to show it more the more you tried to pull away and become more independent. It was very rude of him to make you feel like everything was wrong with the world if he didnât kiss the top of your head whenever he carried you down the stairs. Or that you might die if he didnât stroke your hair, or hug you. And then to be completely oblivious to the effect he had on you⊠It was almost unforgivable⊠Almost. Kaemon came squealing through, objecting to the bath he had to take because he and Nari had gotten into the mud. Jin was laughing as he gave chase. âMonnie!â There was a screech of laughter as Kaemon was caught. âGot ya!â Jin laughed. âOh, your eommaâs going to scrub you good for getting mud all over the floor.â âNo!â Kaemon giggled happily, and you could just make out the wiggly mass that was him in Jinâs arms as they passed by again. âOh, yes, sheâll even get your ears and tail!â âNo!â You laughed along with the Minsu at his brotherâs misfortune. It was so comfortable. It was strange, feeling like life had always been like this. Like you had always lived with them. The only thing that felt new, different, and absolutely insane wasâ âHere are your crutches,â Hoseok said, setting them against the table beside the couch. He then sat right next to you, stroking your hair once before staring at his phone. Minsu was wiggling and humming the theme song of the cartoon he had watched that morning since he wasnât allowed to go outside with the mild fever he had. Emphasis on mild, given how he didnât seem to even feel sick. But heâd been a couple degrees too warm, and Emma had noticed before either of the hybrids, which was impressive. âYou want to try walking around the yard? Get some fresh air?â Hoseok asked suddenly. âMinsuâs fever is gone, so Emma said he could go outside and thereâs a nice spot where we could eat lunch.â Minsu was still as stone as he waited for your response. You smiled. âMight be hard with crutches, but Iâm up to the challenge. Minsu just has to promise not to get covered in mud.â
âYES!â He screeched, off the couch and running to get his shoes. Hoseok chuckled, getting up and helping you stand, handing you your crutches. âI thought one kid would be easier than all three.â âGood thinking,â You smiled, pushing thoughts of how carefully he cared for you to the back of your mind. It meant nothing. You meant nothing to him. âYou okay? Youâve got that frown again. You get that now and then, your thoughts racing again?â He asked, cupping your face in one of his hands. His lovely, wonderful hand. The worry in his voice tore at your heart again, and you didnât know there was even a piece of your heart left to tear. You thought itâd become confetti already. âJust a lot on my mind. The more I improve, the more I need to get ready to do. Find an apartment, find a job since they arenât rebuilding the libraryâŠâ You adjusted your grip, looking down and away from his hand. You couldnât bear to have him touching you for a moment longer. He hummed softly. âDid I do something wrong?â You tensed up. âWhy would you think that?â âYouâll look at everyone but me. You only frown around me, and thatâŠâ He sighed. âYour scent changes.â You scrunched up your nose. âMy scent?â âItâs normallyâŠwhen youâre happy and contentâŠyou smell like fresh-baked bread, warm and good. But when you get sad, or upset, you smell like bread dough, a little yeasty.â You cringed. âReally?â âItâs not a bad smell,â He quickly said. You cleared your throat. âA little yeasty?â âOkayâŠitâs actually a nice smell, just different from your normal one. Itâs the precursor to deliciousness and home. I justâŠIâm worried about you. You seem uncomfortable around me. Did I do something wrong?â His voice sounded smaller than normal. âNo,â You answered firmly. He hadnât done anything wrong. He didnât seem to like your answer, though. âThen whatâs wrong?â âHobi! Help me with my shoelaces!â Minsu came running in, then seemed to freeze. âWhatâs wrong, y/n?â Great. So all of them knew that you smelled doughy when you were upset. Fantastic. âNothing, my leg just hurt for a moment. Let Hoseok help you with your shoes and lets get outside. Iâm dying for some fresh air.â You smiled toward the kid. Thankfully, it was enough to distract Hoseok from questioning you any further. Today anyway. âââ You sighed and scrolled through the listings. âEverything open is being snatched up as quickly as itâs put on the market.â âEmma was serious when she said sheâd talk to someone about reserving you an apartment the moment one of the buildings theyâre building is finished,â Hoseok replied from the kitchen. âI know, but without a job, I donât even know what Iâll be able to afford as far as rent goes.â âAnd nobody is hiring right now with the rebuild. I know. Itâs time to turn the computer off, your eye doctor said you couldnât look at the screen for more than two hours at a time and no more than six hours in a day.â He came over and closed the window as you tried to rebel, then shut the laptop. âI thought we could go for a walk with the kids. They need the exercise and fresh air and you could use a distraction.â He handed you your glasses, and the single crutch you still needed. Two weeks had done wonders for your body and your leg was almost completely healed. Next week you started therapy to build the muscle back up in it so you could actually put weight on it. You sighed and nodded. Twenty minutes later the two of you were calling to the kids not to go to far ahead on the country road. It was a nice day, and they were excited. Minsu was bouncing all over the place, and Kaemon kept stopping to turn his face and arms into the sun, while Nari skipped from wildflower to wildflower, collecting a bouquet for her mom. Hoseok was chuckling, monitoring the kids, but staying beside you. âMinsu, come back. I hear a car coming.â Nari and Kaemon came running back with their brother. You looked at Hoseok. He was glancing behind you all, then he looked forward suddenly. âKids, letâs play a game of hide and seek. Go hide in the bushes.â They quickly did as they were told, hiding in the bushes. Hoseok muttered, âSorry.â Then he gently pulled you into his arms, shoving your crutch into the long grasses and walking alongside you like the two of you were a couple. A van came, slowing down as it passed by you two. Then it drove off. The other car, coming from the other direction stopped and a man got out. âHoseok, where are the kids?â âMicheal, theyâre hiding. Two cars on this road at once?â âNari, Minsu, Kaemon,â Micheal called. âCome get in the car.â They all came out of the bushes and Nari grabbed your crutch. âWhatâs going on?â You asked. It was weird. Being suspicious of vehicles on the road, suddenly telling them to get into the car⊠âWeâre not exactly popular. Thereâs an organization thatâs doing their best to undermine everything weâve done. Take my car and drive. Donât tell me where youâre going, just take the kids, take y/n, and get out of town. Emma, Jin, Becca and Timothy are safe. Iâve already talked to Namjoon, Yoongi, and Taehyung but I canât get hold of Jungkook or Jimin.â âWeâll go there first,â Hoseok said, guiding you to the passengerâs seat. âIâll call when we get there and you can tell me what really happened.â You closed the door and waited, hearing the three get buckled into the backseat and caught Micheal saying heâd get the car from the house and not to worry. Then Hoseok was driving at what looked like a pretty high speed. âHobi-hyung? Where are we going?â âWeâre going to go visit Jimin-ah and Jungkook-ah,â Hoseok replied, his tone cheerful, but a glance toward the backseat told you that the kids new that something was wrong. âWeâll see Ariel too, Iâm sure.â âAriel-unnie?!â Nari perked up, tail thumping lightly against her carseat. âYup.â She bounced a little in her seat. âI love Ariel-unnie!â You felt like you couldnât breath. âWhoâs Ariel?â âJiminâs fiancĂ©e. Theyâre getting married in October,â Hoseok answered easily, as if it wasnât a big deal, unaware that he was taking away a fear of meeting someone that he cared about. Until you remembered that he wouldnât introduce the kids to a girlfriend unless he planned on keeping her in his life. He turned on the stereo, and there was a kids CD in the player that the kids happily sang along with. The drive was way too long. You were left to interact with Hoseok after the CD ended and the kids were asleep. The man was rude. Who just sits that casually being attractive and irresistible and outshining the sun? How dare he invade your thoughts. How dare he act like he doesnât know what heâs doing to you. Driving, and acting all domestic and charming. And talking with him was so easy as long as you avoided the topic of romance. You guys talked about books, shows, movies, school, work, the triplets, kids in general, politics (usually a topic you avoided), and family. You told him about your sister, your parents, the hybrids that actually raised you. You told him about the time surrounding your fatherâs murder. Including turning in your mother when you found out that she had killed him. âShe threatened you too? Jeesh, what happened?â âPete tackled her and told me to go to the police. The hybrid rights were instituted right before the end of the trial, which allowed me to be put in Pete and Mykaâs custody until I graduated high-school. They stuck around until I turned twenty, then started traveling. They were talking about settling down and having kids in their last letter. My sister wanted nothing to do with me when I inherited and she didnât. Dad always told me that she wouldnât inherit anything because she would waste it on her many addictions.â You sighed. âFamily is complicated.â âAnd your friends?â âIâm guessing you mean besides Emma? Iâve got a couple acquaintances, but none that I talk to regularly. I get coffee with one friend from college about twice a year. She was always floating in and out with her boyfriends anyways. And when I got a job that I lovedâŠwell, I didnât really think about friends. I was happy. And then it all blew away like dust in the wind.â You snorted in disbelief at how quickly everything you had worked toward was blown away. He was quiet, glancing at you. âWeâre almost there.â âYou were ready for things to go wrong. Back there, you had the kids hide in the bushes because you heard two cars coming from different directions.â He gripped the steering wheel tighter for a moment. âEmma and Micheal have been targets for people against hybrid rights sinceâŠI donât know. Right about the time she adopted me. People set the house on fire, and another group broke down the front door to try and attack us after Emma had been kidnappedâŠI guess weâve just never let our guard down. Micheal and Becca are still active advocates and it doesnât take much to know that Emma is the motivation behind Michealâs apparent madness. All you have to do is type Michealâs name in and her name pops up right alongside it. Itâs justâŠautomatic to prioritize the kidsâ safety, you know?â âProtect them, yeah. So that they never face what you did,â You said, facing the road. He was just a blue of color on your left. âWhat any of us did, yeah,â He replied softly. âJin was basically born into labor, he worked on a farm from the moment he could walk. He rescued Jungkook and Jimin himself, hid them and nursed them back to health. Both physically and mentally. We donât expect real trouble, but we donât want to risk them ever falling into the hands of someone who would put them through any sort of pain.â He pulled into the driveway of an apartment building. You looked up at the building, then back at the kids. âKids, wake up.â Hoseok reached back, and shook Minsu. âWe here?â You got out of the car, and leaned against it for a moment before limping back to the back door and opening it to unbuckle Nari. She climbed out, looking up at the building, but staying close to you. Hoseok passed you your crutch over the top of the car. âCome on, weâre going to go see Jungkook and Jimin.â There was a tilt to his head and you could pretty much see him worrying about them not having any clothes, or their stuffed animals, and then also whether or not the two brothers would be home. You gave him a smile, nodding slightly. âStick close to us, kiddos.â âYes, noona,â Kaemon said, sleepy still and holding onto Hoseokâs pants as you all slowly made your way into the apartment building. Hoseok guided you all up stairs, sticking close to you to make sure you didnât have any struggles on the stairs. The kids were pouting after the first two floors. âJust one more floor, babes,â Hoseok said, stooping to kiss the top of Nariâs head. Kaemon growled softly, arms going up. Hoseok picked him up without question, nudging the other two into moving again. You weâre getting tired as well, leaning more heavily on the crutch. When finally you all reached the right floor and the door of the apartment, you were relieved. Hoseok knocked, loudly. There was some noise and then the door swung-open to reveal a bunny-hybrid, with round eyes that got huge with surprise. âHobi?â He quickly grinned to greet the triplets, scooping up both Nari and Minsu and squeezing them. âHey, guys! Iâm so happy to see you!â They nuzzled into his neck, wrapping tightly around him and each other. They were pouting, whimpering, and just generally acting all wounded. He kissed both of their heads, looking at Hoseok with an unspoken question. âCome on in.â He looked at you, but seemed to decide heâd find out in due time. âSorry to just drop in on you, but where the hell is your phone?â Hoseok asked, a slight growl in his voice. Jungkook glanced back, then set the kids on the couch. âMy room. Why?â âMicheal tried calling you earlier, and Iâm sure Emma and Jin have tried to as well. Whereâs Jimin?â âHe was having lunch with Ariel and her parents, but he dropped his phone yesterday and it died. I was supposed to tell Emma, but I forgot because I have an exam tomorrow and Iâve been studying like crazyâŠâ Jungkook gestured morosely to the mess of textbooks and papers. âIâm home!â Another man called out behind you, then there was an excited squeak. âHobi, Monnie, Minnie, Nari!â He threw his arms around Hoseok and Kaemon, grinning so brightly that his eyes disappeared. âJimin!â Minsu cried out happily. Jimin released a chuckling Hoseok to hop over the back of the couch and squish the two kids there into his embrace. âHi, munchkins!â They were talking over each other, pouting and getting all the sympathy and attention they thought they needed after such a stressful day. Hoseok deposited a whining Kaemon into the mix, then seemed to send a text before gently touching your arm, guiding you to the couch. âItâs okay. Weâre safe here.â You let him guide you to a seat on the second couch, where he fussed over you for a second, even going so far as to tuck his head into your neck and breath in deeply. âI want to cuddle y/n!â Kaemon whined and scrambled up onto the couch you were sitting on. You smiled and took him into your arms, suppressing a laugh when Hoseok was shoved from the crook of your neck so that Kae could nuzzle into you. You cuddled him close, secretly grateful that he had shoved Hoseok away from you because you didnât know how to act around him, or what to think of his actions. But all too soon, Kae was snoring into your shoulder and the other two were looking equally drowsy cuddled up with Jimin. âEveryone is okay then?â Jimin asked casually. Hoseok nodded, stroking Kaeâs hair. âYeah. There was just a small threat, I think. Micheal found us and told us to get out of town and since neither of you were answering we knew we had to check here. Oh, this is y/n, by the way.â âI figured,â Jimin said, giving you a friendly smile. Jungkook nodded slightly. âWhy didnât you bring any of their stuff? You know Kaeâs going to freak out without his bear.â âWe were out for a walk and Micheal seemed to think us getting out of there was pretty urgent.â Hoseok sighed. âCan we put them on your bed, Kook?â âBetter put them on mine, I have more blankets and we can make a blanket den for them like Jin does on rainy days,â Jimin said before Jungkook could answer. He picked up Minsu, while Jungkook picked up Nari. You let Hoseok take Kaemon, then rubbed your eyes behind your glasses. They were sore, an all too common occurrence since the accident. You just wanted to be well again so you could get away from Hoseok and end your torment. âHey, you okay?â Jungkookâs voice was soft, and you felt the couch dip as he sat beside you. âYeah, my eyes are just sore.â You kept your answer as simple as possible to avoid detection. âI meant because of what Hobi did earlier, I saw the look on your face,â He murmured. âYou can tell him not to do that, you know.â You pressed your lips together and looked at him before looking away. âOhâŠoh.â He shifted so he was facing toward the hallway as well. âUmâŠy/nâŠabout HobiâŠâ âHey, Kook, Nariâs asking for you,â Hoseok said, poking his head in. âWhy were you two talking about me?â âI was just going to tell her about how youâre scared of everything,â Jungkook said with a grin. âBrat.â Thank God for it.

A/N: Happy Part Nine! Iâm weak and Iâm posting early because I got responses to the quick census. I think youâll be happy with the next part, which I will likely post on Wednesday!Â
âItâs likely you had a complex-partial seizure,â The doctor said, smiling kindly. âIâve looked at your file, and itâs possible given the damage caused to your brain in the accident. Your doctor even listed it here as something he was concerned about as a side effect. Youâre lucky, you could have had a grand mal seizure. Youâre normally on these medications, since the accident anyway?â He set a list in front of you. You read over it and nodded. A seizure. Of course. It made sense now. You had trained to help kids who had seizures as part of your first aid certification and now that the doctor said it all of the symptoms made sense. âThis one is to suppress nerve pain, and is also used for people with epilepsy. Itâs likely taking this prevented you from showing symptoms earlier. Or that you had similar seizures before and were unaware that they occurred. Iâve sent down these prescriptions for you, given the circumstances youâre in, and you should be able to pick them up on your way out at the pharmacy on the first floor.â âBut sheâs okay?â Hoseok asked. âIâd have to run more tests, but considering the seizure lasted under five minutes, I think sheâs fine. Weâll get her back on her medication and hopefully that keeps them from happening again.â âThank you,â You murmured. You were exhausted. âNo problem. Get your prescriptions, get home, get some rest. Both of you. Kids, would you like stickers?â All three perked up, tails wagging excitedly, thanking him when they got their stickers. It was dark out when you pulled up to the summer house. Thankfully, your seizure had ended in the store, and you had insisted on checking out before going to the walk-in clinic (the closest thing the town had to a hospital). Hoseok had stopped and gotten pizzas for dinner because there was no way either of you were cooking. You had to direct Hoseok where to find the key in the treehouse from the ground, guessing more than anything, but he eventually found it and you all entered the house you used to come to every summer. It was nicer than you remembered, and looked like the interior had been remodeled in the past few years. âItâs nice,â Hoseok said, looking around. âAlright, first things first, get the kiddos set with some dinner. Y/n, you sit and eat too. I can handle bringing things in and making beds if you get them into pajamas.â âDeal.â You helped him put slices of pizza on plates for the kids and yourself, then sat with them at the table in the breakfast nook to eat while they ate. Minsu and Kaemon picked the pepperoni off, and Kae gave his to his brother. Nari ate like normal. Then after Minsu finished his piece of pizza, he ate the pepperoni. You got them into their pajamas with very little fuss, and managed to take a shower and change into your own pajamas, only needing Hoseokâs help to get the brace back on (while he ranted about how you could have hurt yourself). He then insisted on blow-drying your hair, at least partially. You then helped him tuck the kids in. They had all fallen asleep with Minsu in the end, an hour earlier than their actual bedtime. Then Hoseok carried you into one of the other bedrooms and tucked you in, seeing that your medicine was kicking in. But you would swear that you felt him kiss your forehead before he left. The first day at the summer house the kids were blissfully unaware of the trouble surrounding their trip to this magical place. They loved that they could play in the shallow waters, and Minsu had caught about five frogs by now, and all three of them adored the treehouse. Three days in the summer house had passed with relatively little to worry you or cause problems. Except Hoseok, but he was an eternal problem that you werenât sure youâd ever be able to fix. He seemed hyper aware of you now, checking on you periodically, making sure you were okay, but even when you were perfectly fine and it showedâas you played with the kids happilyâhe seemed to have this look in his eyes that haunted you late at night. It was the fourth day at the summer house that you walked down to the corner market and got a paper, seeing the headlines. The lady who owned the market sent her twelve-year-old daughter to get Hoseok for you. âWhat happened? Did you have a seizure?â He asked the moment he entered the store, the truck parked outside the doors. You handed him the paper, a lump in your throat. âItâs over.â He frowned and read over the paper, confused about why you would be so upset, until he finished reading the title of the article. He inhaled sharply. âYour sister.â âGuess she really did change,â You choked out. He hugged you close, tight. âShe was protecting you. She died to protect you.â âWe should get back. The kids.â âYeah,â He agreed simply, picking you up and carrying you to the car while you protested weakly. âDonât deprive me of one of my few pleasures in life.â You snorted, but didnât argue any further. You didnât know how you felt, other than conflicted. On one hand, you could literally only count the nice things sheâd done for you on that one hand. On the other, she was your sister. Your family. You powered your phone on, and texted Emma the address. An hour later, the triplets were screeching with joy, throwing themselves into their parents arms and being adoringly smothered by said parents. Four hours later and all of you were back at Emma and Jinâs, the kids running to Jimin, Jungkook, and three hybrid men you didnât know, one of which had a very young toddler in his arms. Hoseok stuck beside you the whole time. It was in the evening that you and Emma were talking, Hoseok gone from your side. âShe was working for the organization that was against us, the one that broke that vile thing out of jail. But she leaked all the information that they needed to take everyone down. Sheâs a hero. But that doesnât mean that what she did to you in the past can be forgotten,â Emma said thoughtfully. âSome scars run deep.â You sighed shakily. âShe was finally reaching out, honestly and good-naturedly. And now I wonât ever be able to find out if she really wanted to be in my life again. I wonât be able to replace the litany of terrible memories that sheâs left in my mind with good ones. I think thatâs honestly more upsetting to me. She finally changed, we might have finally had the chance to be and act like siblings and now the chance is gone. And for me, it seems like everyday I lose just a little bit more. I donât know if I can take it.â âOh, honey,â She sighed and held you a little tighter. âItâs going to be okay.â âItâs not,â You whispered, closing your eyes as the tears filled them. âWhat else is bugging you, hon? Hmm? Because I donât think this is about your sister.â So you told her, everything from being afraid of living alone now that you apparently had seizures (even with the medicine), to how you felt like your heart had been ground into dust over Hoseok. How his smile made you feel like life was worth living, but knowing that he would never in his right mind give it to you made you feel like you were dying. You told her about your worry over finding a new job, a place to live, everything. All while crying your eyes out. She didnât say much, small comforting things, mostly just letting you get it all out now that you were safe. She waited until your sobs were hiccups, and your tears had slowed. You were sort of limp in her arms, finding comfort in her. âYou should talk to Hobi about it,â She finally said, gently brushing your hair from your face. âI know itâs scary, and I know it feels like too big of a risk right now, but if you donât, youâre going to really hurt yourself in the long run. You can wait until youâve recovered, but I think the sooner you do it the better it will be.â You nodded, then cracked a smile as she directed your hand to where one of her twins was kicking a tiny bit. âHow are you doing?â âWell, normally twins come early, so Iâm sort of worried, but the doctors were constantly checking on me at the sanctuary. If I donât go into labor within the week, theyâre going to do a c-section. I donât think itâll come to that though.â You sat up, smiling at her. âWhyâs that? Did you have spicy food or something?â âMmm, I could really go for some curry nowâŠâ She murmured, then shook her head. âNo, but I should probably get Jin in a while and head to the hospital.â You looked at her. âYouâre way too calm for someone who basically just said theyâre in labor.â âI was in the hospital for two days with the triplets before they were born. You learn how long you can wait. Besides, theyâre all cuddled up with Jin in this big pile of blankets and pillows and itâs adorable. Then Jungkook and Jimin joined them and it was even more adorable, so of course Hoseok joined them as well. Lots of good memories, and plenty of pictures.â She showed you one that she had taken. You grinned. She smiled at it as well, sighing. âJungkook seemed so little when he first came, and grew so fast.â âThe man that did those things to HoseokâŠâ âTried to break into the Sanctuary. Thought he was there.â âAnd?â She shifted. âJin put two bullets in his chest, and the police put a third in his head.â Her voice was surprisingly cold. âGood,â You said. She nodded slowly. âThe files your sister released showed that Hobi was the first to survive him. Yoongi would have been killed too if he hadnât been so strong. Iâm not saying killing him was right, but I couldnât sleep knowing he was out there somewhere. Hurting someone. Even if he had lived, he would have received the death penalty. He just got it a little sooner than he expected.â âEomma?â Hoseok poked his head into the room, then froze, looking between you and Emma. You could see how he wanted to rush over and find out what was wrong, itching to try and comfort you because he couldnât help it. He instinctively needed to protect you, thatâs what he said. âHey, Hobi. You okay?â She asked, her voice softer. He nodded tersely. âEverything okay here?â âYeah, weâre just having some girl-talk. Can you go wake Jin, Hobi? Tell him we need to head to the hospital?â âWhy?!â His tail fluffed out, eyes wide. She laughed softly. âHad to have these babies sometime, Hobi.â His shoulders relaxed dramatically. âOh, right. Got it. Iâll go wake him up.â He handed you the box of tissues, then left. She lightly rubbed your back. âYou okay?â âYeah, Iâll be fine. You just focus on your babies,â You told her, leaning on her shoulder. âYou try to relax. Donât worry so much about you and Hobi. Everything will work out for the best.â You nodded, watching somewhat helplessly as she stood up and headed toward the hallway, slipping on her flats and her coat serenely as she waited for her husband. Jin came quickly with a bag, dressed again, and he kissed her. âYou ready, baby?â âYeah, honey. Iâm ready. HobiâŠâ âIâm in charge, I know the drill. Iâll bring the kids in when you call.â He kissed her cheek, nuzzling it lightly. âLove you, Eomma.â âLove you too.â She looked over at you and smiled reassuringly. âMake sure she gets to bed at a decent time, yeah?â âI will.â He smiled at you. His hair was a bit messy from his nap and you just wanted to run your hands through it. Your heart ached as you watched how lovingly Jin looked at Emma as they left, the way he seemed to know what was enough attention and what was too much. You wanted something like that. You had something similar, but his heart wasnât actually in it. Just his instinct. You wanted it because the other person loved you, really and truly loved you. And someone as amazing as Hoseok was way out of your league. âHey, you still with me?â He asked, crouching in front of you. You nodded, giving him a fleeting smile. âYeah, justâŠkind of jealous of her and Jin, you know?â He broke into a grin as he chuckle. âI do know. I mean, they have everything. Even if the past week has been absolutely crazy. They have the house, with the yard, and three angels sleeping upstairs with their adopted kids while they go to the hospital to give birth to two more angels. You know, theyâre actually married? Itâs so rare in the world of hybrids to actually get married, most just mate.â âBut sheâs human,â You pointed out, shrugging. âMarriage is something we sort of dream about. Some donât see it as necessary and others believe it very necessary or right, or just plain romantic.â âWhat about you?â You dared to glance at his face for the very smallest moment. âI donât know. When I was younger I dreamed about a wedding. My dad walking me down the isle, Iâd have a sunflower and lily bouquet, and my family would be getting along. My mom would cry, and my sister would be my maid of honor. Instead, my father and sister are dead, and my mom is in jail and has refused every attempt Iâve made to visit her because I turned her in. And Iâm allergic to lilies. I canât even really walk.â âYouâre getting better,â He reassured you softly, his eyes sad as he gently held your hand. âAm I?â You asked, then sighed. âIt just feels like it never ends.â He nodded, then got up before picking you up. âYouâll feel better tomorrow, after you get some sleep. Do you want to go to the hospital with us?â You shrugged. âItâs a family thing. I donât want to intrude.â âYou wonât be intruding. Youâre part of this family now.â He helped you pull the covers over you. âBesides, theyâre going to be cute kids.â âTheyâve got good genes,â You replied, half-asleep already. He whispered something in reply, kissing your forehead, but you were drifting to sleep too fast to make it out.

A/N: I used placeholder names for the other readers. Ava is another of the most common names, Ren because of the meaning, and Ariel because it means lion. Because I wasnât going to go through the insanity of trying to leave everyone nameless.
MERRY CHRISTMAS! Happy Holidays!
You and Jungkook met by chance when you started tutoring alongside your best friendâs brother for some extra cash. You were meeting up with Josh to get his advice on how to help a student you were tutoring when you ran into the bunny-hybrid and you just sort of blinked in surprise as he caught the book you dropped. He was a little shy, but so were you. You both stood there, trying to think of something to say until you both started talking at once. Josh intervened right about then, asking you to take over tutoring Jungkook because the help he needed was more in your wheelhouse. Thus, you two started getting coffee together and he told you about his family and you told him about your lack-thereof. Just you and your former owner, who would be on his honeymoon for Christmas. Thatâs when he got the idea to invite you to his familyâs Christmas, insisting that they wouldnât mind and that there would totally be enough food for you and that they wouldnât buy presents for you so you didnât have to buy presents for them. âWhat if I already got you a Christmas present?â You teased, thinking of how it was waiting in your room to be wrapped and how you had planned to give it to him at your next tutoring session. You were always well prepared for things, storing them away due to your squirrel genes. You finished Christmas shopping before December even hit. He had gotten flustered. âWellâŠwe could exchange gifts. No sense in returning them.â You grinned at him. âYou got me a gift already?â He looked away, sort of sheepish. âJungkook, you are a complete sweetheart. ButâŠwonât it be a littleâŠawkward?â He shook his head. âDinner is technically completely separate occasion for us. Weâve already done presents in the morning and lunch is the big thing. Dinner is mostly whatever was left of lunch and weâre all justâŠchilling. Goofing off. The kids are with Eomma and Appa. Weâre playing games and barely hitting the eggnog and mulled cider. Jimin, Yoongi, and Jiminâs wife enjoy some catnip. Youâll like them. Well, Namjoon and his mate can be a little standoffish, but theyâll warm up. Theyâre wolf hybrids.â âReally? Thatâs so cool. You know theyâre going extinct,â You said. âActually, thatâs going to be on the next test. Write that down.â His eyes widened, muttering a curse under his breath and jotting it into his study notes. âThis final is going to suck.â âYouâll be fine. As long as you remember that the breeding of wolf hybrids stopped being practiced the year before I was born.â You jotted down the year in his notes. âYouâre positive that your family wonât mind?â âEomma and Appa are always saying my friends are more than welcome. They sort of adopt people anyway. Christmas dinner isnât a big deal. Now, are you going to accept and move on to helping me pass this final, or are we going to schedule tutoring sessions for next semester when I have to retake this course?â You rolled your eyes and hit his head with your fluffy tail. âYouâve passed so far. Youâd get a good enough grade to pass. Wouldnât look great for your GPA, but youâd still pass.â You stirred your hot chocolate and turned your attention to your own textbook. âYouâre coming, right?â He asked softly, his bunny ears back against his head. You smiled and nodded. âYeah, Kook. Iâd love to.â âGood.â ââââ You rang the doorbell, though you doubted you really needed to when Jungkook opened the door the moment you pressed it. He grinned. âYou came!â âI told you I would,â You replied, smiling and following him inside. You let him take your coat and scarf. Three curious little heads were peeking around the doorway, whispering and giggling. Jungkook gestured toward them. âThe triplets, Nari, Kaemon, and Minsu. You guys can meet her, she doesnât bite. Right y/n?â You nodded. âRight. Jungkook has told me lots about you.â Nari and one of the boys hurried forward, sniffing and smiling at you. âAre you Jungkookâs girlfriend?â The boy asked. âYah, Minsu, what have we told you about sticking your nose where it isnât wanted?â Jungkook asked, tossing the boy over his shoulder. Minsu just laughed. âHyung!â Nari hopped closer. âHi, you smell good.â âThatâs not how we start polite conversation,â A woman, Emmaâyou assumed, said softly. Nari gave her a sheepish smile. âHello, Iâm Nari, Jungkook-oppaâs little sister. Thatâs Minsu, and this is Kaemon,â She said, pulling the last little boy from where he was hiding shyly beside his motherâs legs. âNice to meet you, Nari.â You shook her little hand, then stood back up at smiled at the woman. âYou must be Emma?â She nodded. âAnd youâre y/n. Jungkook has told us a lot about you.â âAll good?â She laughed when Kook gave both of you a scared look. âOf course.â You smiled. âThank you for letting me come hereââ âOh, donât even mention it. Weâre happy to have you. Alright, my little munchkins, time for quiet time with your appa and me.â She herded the two on the floor toward the stairs. âHave fun. Donât burn the house down. Same rules as always,â She told Jungkook, kissing his cheek after he put Minsu down. âYes, eomma,â He replied softly, looking at her with more love than you had ever seen on his face before. It was strange seeing him at home. He was nice, really and truly, but he always seemed a little nervous even around his friends. Here he was completely relaxed, ears in a neutral position and expression completely open. You loved it. She disappeared upstairs, calling over her shoulder, âTell Jin to bring the can of whipped cream.â âYes, eomma,â Jungkook waved for you to follow him into the next room. âBathroom is over there. This is the kitchen and living room.â You nodded, scurrying a little closer because now you were feeling a little shy as you saw his family all gathered in the area, most of the attention was on a toddler that was playing with a stuffed animal the same size as her, her stump of a tail lashing playfully. âAppa, eomma said to bring the can of whipped cream,â Jungkook told a dog-hybrid that was putting mugs on a tray. âThis is y/n. Y/n, this is Jin. Heâs the one who adopted me.â You smiled. âJungkookâs told me all about you. And Emma. Actually, all of you. Iâm sort of a history buff, I like hearing peopleâs stories.â Jin smiled at you. âWelcome to our house. Glad to meet you. We understand that youâre the reason Jungkookâs passed most of his classes this semester.â You giggled as Jungkook groaned and rolled his eyes. âHe just needed someone to make him sit down and study, right, Kook?â He grumbled something about regrets. You turned as someone tapped your shoulder. The monkey-hybrid grinned at you. âIâm Taehyung. And youâre standing under mistletoe.â You looked up, eyes widening. He dropped a kiss on your lips quickly, then darted away with a mischievous laugh. You stared after him, then quickly sidestepped away from the mistletoe before anyone else got any bright ideas. Your pressed the back of your cold fingers to your burning cheeks. Jin was barely suppressing his laughter. Jungkook was rigid, eyes huge, brow furrowed, and lips parted in surprise. You cleared your throat. âUm, introduce me to the others before they decide to introduce themselves to me under mistletoe.â Jungkook scowled momentarily, then nodded and led the way over to the others. âThatâs Yoongi and his daughter Eunyeong, thatâs Taehyung, who you met. Namjoon and his mate, Ava. Jimin and his wife, Ariel. Hoseok and Ren. This is y/n. My friend.â âGood kisser,â Taehyung chuckled. You closed your eyes, listening as Taehyung was scolded and teased and told to behave. Jungkook put an arm around you. âDonât worry. Iâll take him if he tries anything again.â You glanced up at him and then let him lead you to a seat on the couch Yoongi was sitting on. Eunyeong came over, curious. âHi.â âHello,â You replied, waving a little. She grinned. âHi.â You giggled. âHello, whatâs your name?â âEuny,â She replied, hugging your legs as she sniffed you. âWâas you name?â âY/n,â You told her gently. She parroted you, then giggled and let go, going over to Yoongi. âAppa, thatâs y/n,â She said, crawling up into his lap and then reaching precariously to pull the stuffed animal up as well. He stopped her, picking it up himself and setting it on Jungkookâs lap. âCareful, Euny.â He spoke in a tired voice, unemotional, but she just purred and snuggled into him, earning a small smile. Ava, Namjoonâs mate, smiled at you. âJungkook talks a lot about you. What about him? Whatâs he like when heâs not around us?â âJumpy,â You replied, hearing a small grunt of protest from Jungkook. You nudged him. âDonât deny it. Took me two months, thatâs fourteen study sessions where we spent three hours together to get him to even look my in the eyes and speak a sentence without then blushing and running out on some fruitless errand like getting more coffee or a snack before inevitably having to return and continue studying. When he finally did start talking to me, it was because he saw my boyfriend cheating on me.â âThat was a mess,â Jungkook muttered, arm going around your shoulders again and his nose twitching like he smelled something bad. Ren gave a sympathetic smile. âJerk?â âMajor jerk. Made it so I was afraid to even talk to him. Jungkook and my friends had to back me up. Even then, my former owner had to threaten him to never come around me again. My roommate was extremely concerned. But that was forever ago. Jungkookâs talked to me ever since.â You gently elbowed him, smiling at him. Ava flashed you a big grin. âHow long have you two beenââ âIsnât it time for Eunyeongâs nap?â Jungkook asked a little too loudly. Yoongi gave Jungkook a glare you would never want to receive. Euny went still, eyes getting huge, tail fluffing out. âNooooo!â She mewled out, sounding absolutely heartbroken. Tears immediately fell down her face. The entire room was tense. Ava and Namjoon looked like they were looking for something to attack. Jiminâs ears were back, looking almost as heartbroken as Eunyeong sounded and Ariel was holding onto him and biting her lip. Hoseok had his face behind his hand and Ren was giving Yoongi a sympathetic look. Jungkook looked like he had serious regrets. âHyung, Iâm sorry.â Yoongi snatched up Eunyeong and her stuffed animal. âShh, baby, itâs not time for a nap.â He went into a different room that Jungkook hadnât labeled. Taehyung reached out, looking upset, but he then gave Jungkook a hard look. âYah! Jungkook! We just told you not to mention naps around Euny!â Jungkookâs ears were flat and the scent he gave off spoke of how ashamed he felt. âSorry, hyung.â You reached out and touched Taehyungâs shoulder as he got ready to speak again. âIâm sure it wasnât intentional, oppa.â Taehyung looked at you, expression softening into something a little more like an upset pout. He took your hand. Then Jungkook had him pinned to the floor and Taehyung was yelping in surprise. You flinched. Jimin quickly pulled Jungkook off of Taehyung after some harshly whispered words and a stern look. Jungkook tore away from Jimin, grabbed your arm and pulled you out of the room, he tossed your coat, purse, and scarf at you before dragging you outside. âJungkook?!â You finally tore away from him once you were both outside. He whipped around and glared at you. âWhy did you do that?â âDo what?â You asked, folding your arms, and glaring right back. âLet him kiss you! Touch him! Calling him oppa! What are you doing treating him like that? Now his smell is all over you!â He grabbed you and pulled you to his chest, holding you there as he growled a very un-bunny-like growl. You were sort of stunned into complacency as he started rubbing all over you, covering you with his scent. âStupid mistletoe, stupid Taehyung,â He muttered, suddenly nipping at your scent gland. You jumped. âJungkook?â He pulled away when he heard your tone, wincing. âIâm sorry. Iâm really sorry.â You just looked at him, bewildered. âWhat is going on, Jungkook?â He looked down. âI donât want his scent on you.â âSo you tackled him and then dragged me out into the cold?â You slipped your coat on. âAnd basically kicked me out of your house after inviting me. I havenât even been here half an hour. If you didnât want me to come, then you shouldnât have invited me!â He looked up at you with alarm. âWhat? No! I want you here! Iâm not kicking you out, I just had to get you away from him! From them! Itâs not fair for their scent to be on you when none of mine is!â You frowned at him. âJungkook, your scent is all over me. Taehyung barely touched me. Youâve been hanging all over me for weeks. Itâd take four showers and a completely new wardrobe to get your scent out.â He blinked at you. âCould you just say it? Could you just tell me that you want to date me. To be my mate already. Do you even realize that youâve basically been going through all the regular mating rituals without ever saying anything?â You folded your arms, frowning at him. âOr kissing me. I think Iâve been pretty patient through all of this, donât you?â His eyes were huge, staring at you, but also distant as his mind went over everything. âOh man, holyââ âJungkook?â Emma asked, opening the front door. âWhat is going on?â He looked over at her, then back at you as you pulled your scarf tightly around you to ward off the cold. You wore your dress jacket because you were just going from the car to the house and it provided very little warmth. âY/n, are you leaving already?â Emma asked, still giving Jungkook that mom look. âI honestly donât know,â You replied, folding your arms and hunching your shoulders to try and contain the warmth. Jungkook closed his eyes. âEomma, could you go back inside. Weâll be back in soon.â She looked at you, silently asking if you were okay. You hesitated, then nodded. She nodded and went back inside. Jungkook put both hands on your shoulders. âI didnât realize I was doing it.â âIâm seeing that.â âIâm sorry. IâŠshould have been more careful and I shouldnât have reacted like that. I justâŠafter seeing you with your exâŠI never wanted to see you hurt again and when Taehyung kissed youâŠâ He scowled at the ground, then looked into your eyes with determination. âWill you still have me?â You blinked at the intensity in his gaze. âI donât know.â He looked down, then stepped closer and kissed you. It was soft, sweet, everything you knew he was. Perfect. You looked up at him. âYou canât just freak out like that. Not around your family. Itâs embarrassing for me, you know.â He nodded. âIâm sorry. I justâŠI didnât want to lose you so I never said anything.â âJungkook,â You said softly. âJust kiss me.â He relaxed, smiling and leaning down to kiss you again. Then again. His arms wrapped around you, and you curled into the warmth that emanated from him. He pulled away, running his fingers through your hair with a small smile. âIâve always wanted to play with your hair. And feel your ears. Can I feel your ears?â You nodded, leaning into his chest. His hand slid through your hair, then pet it down before he tentatively slid his hand over your ears. âTheyâre so small and cute,â He murmured. You giggled softly. âIâm a squirrel-hybrid. What did you expect?â He leaned down and kissed you. âIs it weird that weâre different hybrid species?â âDo you really care? Because if you do, then we canât go forward.â âI donât. I just wanted to make sure you didnât think so. You met Ariel. Sheâs a mix of two hybrid species. Sheâs fox and cat. Weâre at least in the same family of species.â Jungkook looked thoughtful. âUm,â You started, wondering if you should burst his bubble. âActually, squirrels are in the order Rodentia while rabbits are in the order Lagomorpha, which puts me in the family Sciuridae and you in the family Leporidae.â He blinked at you blankly. âButâŠâ âIt changed a few years ago. Like twelve.â He looked at the ground. âWell, thatâs going to affect my grade in BiologyâŠâ You winced. âThat was actually on your test?â He nodded. âWell, you should still be able to pass. Come on. Iâm freezing. And I was promised food.â He blinked a few more times, then nodded. âRight. You look cute when you eat. Your cheeks get all puffy.â You groaned. âDo not let me store food in my cheeks in front of your family. I am not going to behave like a squirrel in front of them.â âItâs cute. If weâre dating, can I play with your tail? Itâs so fluffy.â âNot in front of other people. I have pride, you know.â You hit him in the face with your tail. He smiled at you. âCan we cuddle?â âSure, but donât trap me. Iâll freak out.â He caught you, ears perked with excitement. âCan we hang out without studying?â âWe better,â You replied, smiling up at him. He bit his lip. âI freaked out earlier and mentioned Eunyeongâs naptime because Ava was about to ask how long weâve been dating. Sheâs trouble. I could see the question in her eyes and I didnât want her to ask that and make things awkward and everything just spiraled out of control from there. I am so sorry, I promise I wonât do anything like that ever again.â You just smiled at him. âItâs okay, Kook. Itâs nice seeing you here. Where youâre most comfortable. I just want you to be relaxed and happy. Nothingâs going to happen with me and any other guy.â He nodded, eyes closed as you kissed him. His arm slid gently around your waist, guiding you back inside. He helped you take your coat off, hanging it up with your scarf and purse. He then guided you back into the room where the rest of his family was, including Yoongi and Eunyeong but excluding Emma, Jin, and the triplets. Jimin came over, looking worried. âEverything okay?â Jungkook nodded. âYeah, hyung. I was just being stupid.â You nudged him gently. âWeâre good now. Go apologize to Taehyung.â He nodded again. âCan you wait here? I want to sit by you.â You nodded, nudging him again gently. Jimin stood with you, watching him go. âHe never clarified this was a date, did he?â You laughed softly. âI donât think he even thought of it as a date until Taehyung kissed me and he didnât like it.â He grinned. âYouâre all he talks about.â âIâve been accused of doing the same by my friends and family,â You replied, biting your lip. âHow awkward was it when we left?â âWeâve had weirder. We just gave Taehyung some sweet potato chips and showed him the pictures of the kids Ariel is working with at the clinic. Theyâll talk it out. Ren, Hoseok, and Ava are getting dinner together.â He gestured toward the kitchen where they were working. Jungkook came back over. âWeâre good. Time to eat, Noona?â âAlmost,â Ren replied, setting more dishes on the table. Jungkook wrapped his arms around you cautiously, sneakily kissing your cheek. âYour tail, thatâs going to be enemy number 1, isnât it?â âAlways,â You replied cheerfully, resting your cheek against his. âBut itâs nice and warm like a blanket in winter.â He smiled. âThat does sound nice,â He whispered in your ear. Taehyungâs laugh filled the room. âHey! Theyâre matching shades of red!â He grinned at the two of you and then started dodging around the table as Jungkook playfully chased him. Your eyes followed your bunny, grateful for this wonderful, magical day.

A/N: The wait is over for the next part. I mean, itâs only been eleven days which isnât nearly as long as Iâve been waiting for the fic Iâm reading on Ao3 to update, but itâs still pretty long if youâre only on my blog for this story. Iâm trying to figure out how to approach the next few chapters so that I can resolve things. Also, formatting is a little different so let me know if you like it or not.
You woke up to find Hoseokâs arms around you.
You lay there, frozen in shock for what felt like forever.
Until Jungkook poked his head into the room, nose twitching. âDamn it, Hobi.â He hurried over and carefully moved Hoseokâs arms. âGo.â
You slid out and onto the chair beside the bed, hugging yourself and staring at the way Hoseok searched in his sleep for you.
Jungkook handed you your crutch. âThe kids are going to be all over you.â
âWhy?â
He looked away. âYou smell like fear. Thatâs what made me look for Hobi in hereâŠitâs seeped into the hallway. Itâs not all from Hoseok-hyungâŠâ
âNo, I had a nightmare,â You reached for the nightstand and grabbed your glasses so you could actually see his expression. Apparently, it was going to be one of those days where your left eye wouldnât work, which was fantastic and another reason Hoseok being beside you when you woke up scared you. What if it had been someone else?
Your right eye wasnât helping much either, only focusing after you put your glasses on. Only reason you knew it was Jungkook before was because you could make out the ears.
âGood, becauseâŠâ He stopped there. âHe wouldnât want you to be scared of him.â
âIâm not scared of him,â You answered sharply.
âI know. Youâre scared of what you feel for him.â
You got up and passed him. âShut up. I just woke up. I donât need this.â
âI know, sorry. I justâŠI think you should tell him. At least that would prevent some hard feelings between you both.â
You shook your head. âIâm notâŠI canât handle the stress.â
âBut if thereâs even a chance thatââ
You couldnât breathe, but hitting him with your crutch seemed to shut him up. âShut. Up.â
He listened this time, following closely behind you, his desire to tell you to breath heavy in the air.
You dropped onto the couch and dropped your head into your hands to try and calm down. Of course there would be ramifications of you never speaking about the feelings you had for Hoseok. Of you rushing away from his gravitational pull as quickly as you could. You wanted to keep him in your life, but you knew you couldnât have him. Not the wayâ
âDo you smell smoke?â Jungkook asked, sounding alarmed.
You sat up, not even sure if you could breath in to smell.
Hoseok came stumbling out. âIs your neighborâs fire alarm going off?â
Jimin came running into the apartment. âQuick, get the kids, out the fire escape. I think the threat was bigger than they thought!â He had a bloody nose.
Jungkook ran to the bedroom.
Hoseok and Jimin pulled you to your feet as the smoke started in under the door, then Jimin hurried to help with the kids.
You nudged Hoseok. âProtect them. Iâll be along as fast as I can.â
âJimin and Jungkook have them. Iâm protecting you.â He picked you up. âNeed to move faster.â
You could hear the kids yelping in fright.
Hoseok set you down, then guided you out the window. âThe car isnât big enough for all of us.â
âI need to get to Ariel. Kook and I will get them into the car with you and y/n, then weâll head toward her place. Then warn her parents, just in case,â Jimin said from outside the window as he helped you through.
âBe careful, Jiminie,â Hoseok warned, sounding concerned. âIf anything happens to you twoâŠâ
âLetâs focus on getting to safety before you go worrying about the future,â You interrupted.
They both nodded and helped you down the fire escape since you couldnât bend your leg with the brace.
Once down, Hoseok checked that the munchkins were okay.
An officer saw them and came over.
Jungkook intercepted, talking softly and explaining the situation.
The officerâs eyes widened and he nodded.
Jungkook came back over. âHeâs a hybrid. He said heâll take us to Arielâs.â
Hoseok breathed a sigh of relief. âGood. Help me get them into the car then we can be on our way. Eomma gave me specific instructions to keep them away from the Sanctuary, but if the officer can take you there, itâs probably safest.â
âOkay, hyung.â
They got the kids strapped in while you got into the passenger seat, pulling out a physical map and scouting out a route.
The kids were terrified, crying for their parents, and just generally in distress.
You turned in your seat, starting with Kae since he was in the middle, stroking his head and pulled the car blankets over them. âItâs okay. Itâs going to be okay. Min-min, tuck the blanket around yourself, okay, baby?â
Min-min nodded and managed to tuck the blanket around his shoulders, sniffling and sobbing but still a little calmer than the other two. âI want Appa.â
âI know, I know you do.â You craned your arm around the seat to rub his head and ears, then stretched over to tuck the blanket around Nari. âItâs okay. Everything will be okay. Weâre going to take care of you and protect you. Okay?â
âOkay,â Minsu whimpered, sniffling but a little calmer. He must have reached over and grabbed his brotherâs hand. âItâs okay, MonnieâŠâ
You turned to Hoseok as he got in, careful to avoid touching you since you were over the console. âHead towards Main, then turn left, get on the highway.â
He nodded, looking somewhat grateful that you had already planned it out.
âMin-min, Iâm going to lean my seat back okay, let me know before I squish you,â You said in a light tone.
He giggled and sniffled at the same time, squeaking when you went all the way back and were basically on his lap (you didnât stay there), but it was a good squeak and it let you reach all three of them more easily, even if it was acutely uncomfortable and somewhat dangerous.
It took a long time for them to even begin to calm down, and the other two were pretty miserable after such a scare.
âBetter pull into that rest stop,â You told Hoseok softly.
He nodded.
Once there, you took Nari and he took the other two into the bathrooms. Jimin or Jungkook had thrown the supplies bought for the munchkins last night into a backpack, and the clothes that they had been wearing the day before, but you had told Hoseok to keep them in their pajamas because they would be more comfortable. It still didnât leave you two with very much for the almost 5-year-olds who had had two stressful days without their parents. Last night had been a trial since they didnât have their stuffed animals and couldnât understand how their brothers could forget to get them toothbrushes, but eventually Jimin had convinced them that it was really special and promised that he would sleep with them.
You honestly werenât sure how tonight was going to go, but you were ready to put money on them sleeping for the rest of the car ride. However long that might be.
You tucked Nari back into the carseat, knowing she could buckle herself so you left her unbuckled for now. You needed to go over what happened with Hoseok.
He set the kids into their carseats, telling them to buckled up and cuddle up with the blankets. He left the driverâs side door open and faced you.
You held up a plastic bag. âI thought Iâd raid the vending machine.â
He nodded. âGood idea. There should be some decent snacks there. Iâm sorry about all of this. I thoughtâŠwe should have been safe there.â
You shrugged. âIt is what it is.â
âItâs never been this bad before.â
"I think they're more determined than you all gave them credit for," You said simply, shrugging again and shaking your head. When had you gotten vision back in that eye? Because you could clearly see how upset he was. "Check in with Emma, make sure they're okay. I'll go to the vending machine and get some snacks. Better make sure the other two got somewhere safe as well."
âYou shouldnâtââ
âIâm okay. I made it to the bathroom with Nari and back and it feels okay. Iâm not in pain. She said to stop if there was pain, and I will, but we kind of left the crutch back in the apartment. Iâll holler if I need help.â
He nodded reluctantly, and pulled out his phone.
You reassured the triplets that you would be right back and limped back inside to the vending machine. You got as many decent snacks as you could before also getting some sugary ones. Some for bribes for the kids (desperate times) and the others for you and Hoseok. You were also considering getting a few sodas along with the water bottle you were planning on getting. One to split amongst the three of them, and one each for you and Hoseok. Something with caffeine so that you could keep up with the kids.
You jumped when your phone started ringing, and you stared disbelievingly at the caller id before finally answering it. "Hello?"
"Y/n? It's Sarah."
"I know, I have caller I.D. I'm just...surprised? What's up?" You swallowed and glanced back at car, sticking the most recently acquired snack into the grocery bag you had found in the backseat of the car.
"Can't I just call my sister?"
"You never have before," You replied dryly. "Seriously, Sarah, what's up?"
"I saw you on the news."
You blinked. "Oh?"
"Apartment fire. You were wearing a leg brace."
"Yup."
"Y/n," She said, annoyed.
"What do you want me to say? Yes, I'm currently recovering. Have been for two months ever since the tornado that ripped through the city. And yeah, there was a fire at the apartment building I was visiting today with my friend, who is trying to protect his siblings from people who are after them. What do you want?"
She was quiet. "You remember those summers where we would go to the lake?"
You scoffed lightly. "I hid in the tree-house the whole trip because Mom and Dad would always be fighting."
"Uncle Greg sold it to me. I'm not there right now, but it's safe. I've heard some rumors around here. Get there. No one has identified you yet, and they wouldn't be able to connect us to each other. Let alone me to that hybrid you're with. Key is in the treehouse, truck keys are in the desk, donât use whatever vehicle you have around town. Stash it in the garage."
âHang on, youâre helping me?â
âY/n, the rumors Iâve heard are not good. I know I havenât talked to you since that mess with the willââ
âSix years ago.â
ââbut Iâm serious right now.â
You werenât sure you believed her.
âThese people broke that guy out of jail. The one that did all those illegal things with hybrid kids. He sold them underage, abused them, he got put in jail after almost killing a fox hybrid almost fifteen years ago. Heâs bad. Really bad. And if youâre with hybridsâŠespecially kidsâŠâ
You stared at the vending machine. âFâŠfox hybridâŠfifteen years agoâŠâ
âYeah, he almost killed the kid, who was saved by a cat hybrid just a couple years older than him. That was all they said other than the kid had been beaten to within an inch of his life.â
âSarahâŠI think Iâm with that fox hybridâŠâ
âWhat?â
âHoseok, heâŠI think heâsâŠâ
âGet to the summer house.â
âOkayâŠâ
âHey, you need to be stronger than you were the night you found out about mom, y/n. You donât have anyone to hide behind, you have people hiding behind you. Snap out of it, get moving.â
âRight, right. Thank you, Sarah.â
âYeah, well, Iâve been pretty crappy to you. Weâll have to catch up when all of this is over.â She hung up before you could answer.
You grabbed the back of snacks and limped as quickly as you could back to the car.
Hoseok was still on the phone. âTheyâre okay, Eomma, theyâre just upset and scared. Iâllâhey!â
You had snatched the phone from him. âEmma? They broke someone out of Jail. Someone who almost killed a fox-hybrid kid that was rescued by a cat hybrid just a couple years older. That was about fifteen years ago. Sound familiar?â You asked both.
Hoseokâs eyes were huge, and he closed the car door, gulping.
âIâll look into it.â She breathed, sounding shaken. âIâll ask Yoongi. Heâs here with his daughter. Weâll increase security here. Do youââ
âWeâre going to a place that they wonât be able to connect him or you to. Itâs better if I donât say where and weâre going to turn our phones off.â
âOkay. Y/nâŠI know itâs asking a lot, but my kidsââ
âIâll protect them. I promise. Youâll hear from us when I know itâs safe. Hoseok,â You offered the phone to him again.
He took it. âEomma?â
You got into the car, checking on them.
They were almost asleep already, blissfully unaware of the turn in events.
Kae sniffled. âWhy is Hobi-hyung scared?â
âI accidentally snuck up on him and he got scared when he saw me,â You explained, smiling softly at him. âHe doesnât mean to worry you. Go ahead and sleep, weâre going to have a bit of a drive. Okay?â
âOkay,â He murmured, eyes already drooping.
Hoseok got into the car, handing you his phone so you could turn it off. âWhere to?â He sounded worn out, and his eyes looked a little red.
âBack to the highway, for now.â
âThis place weâre goingâŠitâs safe?â
âYeah, it should be. It was my Uncleâs place. No way for them to even connect me to you, no one can identify me, so that means anything related to me is safer. And if we end up having to leave there, then Iâll call Pete and Myka.â
âYour Uncle?â
âHe was never really around, but we went to his place every summer. He was never there when we were. I think he did a lot of traveling.â
âAnd what inspired this idea?â
âMy sister called because she caught a glimpse of me on the news, the one covering the fire. And sheâd been hearing some rumors, and I guess she looked into them. She inherited my Uncles place. Told me weâd be safe there.â
âI thoughtâŠâ
âSo did I. Something has changed for her, I think. We havenât spoke in six or seven years so itâs entirely possible. We donât have many other options, and from what I remember itâs actually a pretty nice place. Hereâs hoping itâs still nice. Thereâs a truck there, weâll have to use that instead of this car in town. Get clothing and food, maybe some toys for them.â
âWhat if people think we kidnapped them?â
âHoseok, they could be mistaken for your kids, honestly. Their fur is black, and their tails are bushy. Well, those that have tails,â You added after a pouty growl was heard.
Hoseok cracked a smile as he looked in the mirror at the kids. âYou think?â
âYup. So, if anyone asks, theyâre your kids.â
He smile got a little bigger, features softening. âOur kids. Yeah. That works.â
You couldnât bring yourself to correct him.

A/N: Part 5 and this series is increasingly difficult to write.
He set you down on the bed. âIt might be an infection, but you donât smell like you have one. I have to check on the kids quickly. Then I want to take your temperature.â You nodded, too exhausted and emotionally drained to respond further. You were cold again, but if anything more than your feet were covered you started roasting again. Thankfully your nausea had passed for now, but he still had put a small trash can in the bed beside you just in case. âIâll be right back,â he promised, then you heard his footsteps hastily retreating. You closed your eyes, listening as he darted down the hallway. He called all of their names then went racing past your room and downstairs, you could hear his voice rise in relief, then it was quiet again. You heard him coming back up the stairs after what felt like no time at all and forever. He walked in, muttering about them being trouble, and going to sit on the other half of the bed. âNariâs figures out how to work the tv and DVD player. Theyâre watching I Love Lucy.â You smiled. âGood show. Safe for kids. Probably keep them occupied for a while.â âYeah. Theyâre just getting so big so fast.â He sighed and the bed shifted slightly as he got comfortable. âI was right about to start a new bookâŠyou want me to read to you?â âI thought you wanted to take my temp?â âOh, right, sorry.â he scrambled off to get the thermometer, coming back quickly. âOpen.â You opened your mouth and let him stick the thermometer in. He pet your hair while you both waited, and took the thermometer when it beeped. â99. So you do have a bit of a fever. I know you canât keep anything down right now, so giving you medicine isnât an option. If it persists then weâll take you to the doctor.â You sighed. âHoseok-hyung? Weâre hungry.â A little voice squeaked from the doorway. Hoseok sighed. âKaemonnie, I just asked all of you if you were hungry.â âWe werenâtâŠâ âItâs been three minutes!â Hoseok objected, his voice quieter, probably from turning toward the pup. âWeâre hungry nowâŠâ
Hoseok sighed in exasperation. âClear off the couch for y/n. You okay with listening to the TV?â You smiled and nodded. âItâs entertaining enough.â Hoseok picked you up carefully. âIâd let you stay here, but I need to keep an eye on both you and the triplets and itâs much easier said than done. Especially with howâŠmobile they are.â You laughed softly. âThey grow up fast and are always watching.â You let yourself be comfortable in his arms, not wanting to risk hurting yourself or making yourself sick. Again. Maybe if you were relaxed this time you wouldnât get sick. Though that gentle kiss on your forehead certainly wasnât doing your heart any favors. He carried you down the stairs, following behind Kaemon from the sound of things. âA little faster, Monnie.â âBut I might fall,â Kae whimpered softly. âKae, I donât know how long Hoseok-oppa can carry me, could you let him pass you?â âOh, okay!â He chirped. You felt Hobi move, and then you were both continuing down the stairs. âItâs not carrying you that Iâm worried about,â Hoseok murmured. He placed a kiss on your head again. Part of you wanted to scream at him to stop kissing your head, the other part of you wanted to beg for more. The contradiction made you a little nauseous again. This man. âYouâve gone pale again.â His voice was laced with worry. You shuddered at the feeling that his words sent through you. He seemed to move faster, then set you onto the couch. Then he was feeling your forehead and throat. He growled in worry. âMaybe we should go to the doctor after all.â Twin growls were heard to your left. âDonât you growl at me,â Hoseok scolded. Tiny footsteps rushed over. âWhat are we growling about?â âHeâs trying to take her back to the doctor,â Minsu growled lightly, a pout obvious in his voice. Kaemon immediately started growling, but his had a whine laced through it. âReally?â Hoseok muttered. Nariâs growl got closer. âShe canât go back. We wonât let you take her.â Her little face burrowed into your uninjured leg. âIt smelled and they took her away from us. They canât have her. I wonât let them have her.â She sounded like she was crying. âI-uh-o-okay. Just, calm down,â Hoseok said, pulling her away from them. He sounded conflicted. âNari, Kaemon, Minsu,â You said softly. âI might need to go to the doctor. They have medicines to help people who are hurt or sick. When they took me away it was to help me. I was very hurt, wasnât I?â Someone sniffled. âYes.â âAnd they helped me, didnât they?â âYes, noona,â The boys chorused. âUnnieâŠâ Nari pouted, somehow getting back to your leg. âSheâs still not completely well. She can get sick and if she does then she wonât get better,â Hoseok told them, adopting the same gentle tone. âIâm trying to take care of her, but we might need them to help her more. If she started getting sick, I have to take her to the doctor. Because I donât want her getting worse. Do you?â âNo, Hobi,â Three voices answered soberly. âAlright. You three be careful around her, Iâll make you lunch.â He sounded tired. Guilt started gnawing at your stomach again. âHey, whoa, you okay?â He sounded worried, a hand gently stroking your hair. âStop. Please stop,â You breathed. His hand left your hair faster than you could imagine. âDid I hurt you? Did Nari?â You squeezed your eyes shut. âNo. Sorry. No.â You pressed into the couch. He doesnât want you, youâre causing him trouble. Heâs only taking care of you because of instincts. âHey, I told you to talk to me if your mind started racing again,â He said softly, hand resting on your shoulder. âMaybe we need to talk to them about different medicine for you.â You couldnât respond. Nari rubbed her face into your leg gently. âHobi, kiss and make it better.â She sounded heartbroken. âUh, oh, Nari. Um, that only works if parents and siblings do it.â âWhereâs her mommy? Or her daddy?â Minsu asked, getting closer. âWe could get them to come kiss it better.â âHer parentâs are too far away, Min-min and she doesnât have siblings. Weâll just have to take especially good care of her.â Hoseokâs voice sounded cheerful, but there was a strain to it that you hoped the kids wouldnât notice. âIâll get you some crackers to try and eat, maybe some ginger-ale.â You nodded, resting against the couch, tuning into the I Love Lucy episode on the television instead of the pouting kids and the too-kind man. But you heard his heavy sigh, and the deep sniff he took. âIt really doesnât smell like an infection,â He murmured, sounding puzzled, then he went to the kitchen with a limp likely produced by one of the munchkins hanging off of his leg. You wished you could see how cute of a sight that must be. Nari was hugging your good leg, but she seemed to be calmer now. You werenât sure which of the boys was immersed in the show and which was hanging off of Hoseok, but the one watching was starting to giggle now and then. You forced yourself to relax, knowing you werenât helping yourself by getting upset. But it was so hard to stay calm around him. Especially with everything you knew about his thoughts and love life andâ You groaned softly, shifting to a new position ever so slightly. Nari climbed up and lay on your good leg, hugging it. âAh, Nari! Be careful,â Hoseok scolded from some distance, around the same area that the commotion that spoke of cooking came from. Running water, clinking utensils, the clicking of a gas stove, and the soft whump as the gas lit. You could hear him open and close the fridge, and the chime of dishes as they met the counter. A squeak of surprise followed by a thump on the floor, and a giggle from Nari. âYou wouldnât fall off if you sit still, Minsu-ah!â Nariâs voice was full of affection for her brother, parroting something her parents or older siblings might say to them. Minsu giggled suddenly and didnât stop, starting to squeal with laughter. âA little quieter, babies,â Hoseok said gently, his voice closer and soft. Loving. You could imagine him talking to his own kids in a tone like that, maybe with that smile he wore the day you met him when he was greeting the triplets. Brighter than the sun, yet so gently and lovingly. Your heart broke a little when you imagined a little child with his furry ears and tail, curled up in his armsâŠand a different woman at his side. Because heâd made it clear that it would never be you. ââââ Five days. Five agonizing days after throwing up in front of him, you woke up and could hazily make out where the windows were, and the open door to the hallway. You could see where things were lighter. You could see when three small blobs blocked some of the light from the doorway as well as hear their curious whispers. Emma came in and checked on you, carrying breakfast with her. âHoseok is going to take you to the doctor so they can see how everything is healing up. That okay?â You nodded, biting your cheek. She was quiet for a moment. âHeâs not bothering you, is he?â âNot in the way you mean,â You replied softly. She laughed softly. âHeâs a sweetheart, isnât he?â She sat down on the edge of the bed. âHas been since I got him.â You sighed. âHeâs too good to me. He barely knows me.â âHe heard about you before he met you. The kids adore you and youâve helped me out so much. Not to mention you helped save my kids. Youâre the good kind, hon. Itâs surprisingly hard to come by. Trust me, itâs basically my job to look for those kinds of people.â Emma sighed, but there was a bit of a laugh in there. âWhich has been put on the sidelines while I take up my old job of organizing my brotherâs company so as they tackle about half of the damage to the city. Itâs like all the other construction companies turned tail and fled.â âI thought you worked at the Sanctuary?â âI do, I manage the funds at the Sanctuary and organize the staff. Iâm technically the owner. Most of the time I just go in to deal with some financial issues. Now Iâm directing construction crews to their projects.â She sounded worried. âThe town is a mess.â âIâll see it soon. I can see where itâs lighter today.â âReally? Thatâs great. Thatâs so good.â She took your hands and squeezed them gently. âIâm so happy for you.â You nodded. âItâs about time. I was starting to think it would never happen.â She stroked your hair gently. âLetâs get you cleaned up.â You smiled. âYes, please.â The two of you maneuvered into the bathroom, your leg secured so that you couldnât damage it. It was safe for you to do so now. You felt so much better after getting cleaned up and dressed. Jin carried you downstairs after. âMorning, y/n-noona!â Minsu chirped happily. âGood morning, Minsu. Kaemon, Nari.â They chirped around their breakfasts. âGood morning,â Hoseok said, his voice bright and kind and ugh. Ugh. You smiled. âGood morning.â Oh god, were you blushing? You better not be blushing. âAlright, my pups! Time to go. Your eomma has to work, and weâre going to go visit your cousin Timothy and aunt Becca and Namjoon-ssi.â Jin announced, his voice moving around the room after setting you down and collecting his pups from the sound of their giggles. âHoseok, thereâs some chicken in the fridge for dinner. Weâre going to eat with Micheal and Becca.â Emma was also moving around. âEomma, take it easy today,â Hosoek said, concern clear in his voice. âYouâre pregnant, you shouldnât be working too hard.â âI can hardly work at all between you, Jin, and Mike. Iâm not doing anything strenuous and I have five or six assistants. You worry about y/n. Let Jin and Mike worry about me today. Remember, her appointment is at ten-thirty.â âI remember,â He answered, sounding a little amused. He was coming toward you. He set something in front of you. âEggs and bacon.â You smiled. âThank you.â You felt around the table and found the fork, then found the edge of the plate. From there you managed to sort of feed yourself. You found the strips of bacon easily, but getting the eggs from the plate to your mouth was troublesome. You tried a spoon, but it was still hard. âMay I?â Hoseok asked softly, coming over and sitting in the chair next to yours. You nodded. âOtherwise Iâll be here all day.â You hated it, but what else could you do. âThis would be a lot harder if you were a hybrid,â He said casually. âA hybrid with injuries like these wouldnât let me anywhere near them unless they were a kids, or a female fox.â You closed your eyes, feeling a headache coming on from your limited vision. âI can see a bit today.â âReally?!â You could tell he was grinning. âOnly where the light is. So, itâs a little harder here because the light seems to be everywhere.â He put an arm around you, pulling you into a sort of half-hug. He rubbed his head against yours gently, one of his fluffy ears brushing across your cheek. âStill, thatâs fantastic. And your wounds are healing so well.â âWe should get going,â You said. If ever you were to blush, it would be now. He made a sort of squeak sound. âRight, uh, let me go get dressed. You okay here for now?â You nodded. âAnything left on my plate?â âAnother strip of bacon.â âIâll eat that while you go change.â You felt around for your bacon, and then picked it up. He darted away, footsteps taking him upstairs, but they were just as quick to come back and then he was scooping you up. âLetâs go, y/n-ssi!â He spoke with a silly voice that made you smile. The hospital was a mess of noises and smells, and the nurse that was checking your wounds was an absolute jerk. He acted like your ability to see where light was brighter was insignificant, and when Hoseok told him about your nausea and problems with anxiety he just said theyâd check for infection. Both of you waited for two hours in a room, only for the nurse to breeze back in and unhook the I.V. they put you on when one of the other nurses said you looked a little dehydrated. âThereâs no infection. Weâll see about changing the medication we have her on. Extreme stress could be exacerbating her condition and bringing on the nausea and racing thoughts..â The nurse was talking to Hoseok as if you werenât even there. âIf she continues to have problems like this, it would be best to remove the stress from around her. Or her from the stress. Whichever is easier.â âThanks,â Hoseok murmured. âOh, we were wondering if there was some sort of brace we could use as well as her bandages to protect her leg?â âI donât think any are made in a way that would be safe for her injuries, but Iâll send someone to look through the different models.â The nurse retreated quickly. âSlacking jerk,â Hoseok muttered, then took the two steps over to your side and stroked a hand over your hair. âFeeling better?â You nodded slightly. He was quiet, hand resting on the top of your head, still. âAre you being honest or are you just saying that so we can leave?â âI think itâs a little bit of both right now,â You murmured, closing your eyes. âIt smells.â âIt does,â He agreed, laughing a little. âAnd itâs noisy.â âReally noisy,â You agreed, smiling a little. They had given you something along with the I.V. and you felt a little groggy. But you also felt overly sensitive to sound and smell. He chuckled softly. âHeyâŠare the kids stressing you too much?â âNo, theyâre fine. Theyâre so sweet,â You said, but the thought of everything you still had to deal with came to mind. The hospital bills, the expense for a new apartment, where you would work once you recovered, how you would get Hoseok out of your head. âThen what is stressing you? Because I can tell youâre stressed as well as in pain.â His fingers slid through your hair. You shook your head. âBesides everything Iâll have to do once I healâŠthings I have to do before I heal.â He made a thoughtful sound. âRight, should you talk to your insurance? Or maybe the bank?â âInsurance yes, and my accountant. I havenât talked to him since just after the incident and it was just to let him know I was alive.â You sighed and shifted so you could lean against him. He shifted and pulled your head to his shoulder. He smelled faintly of peppermint, probably from the tea he had been drinking before claiming it was a sad excuse for tea and setting it aside. He nuzzled your hair. âDo you need to call or go in person?â âCall.â âNumbers in your phone?â âShould be.â âIâll find them for you when we get back. Taehyung said I should call when I get the chance. I think heâs feeling lonely. He spends most of the day watching Yoongiâs daughter. YoongiâŠheâs sort of my cousin but more like my brother. He was adopted by Emmaâs brother back before the laws were repealed.â His voice spoke volumes. He obviously regarded Yoongi as a very close brother, not as lightly as he claimed. You pondered it for a couple moments. âHe saved you from a bad owner?â He flinched. âThat nurse should be back by now.â âSorry, I shouldnât have pried.â âItâs not that. Itâs justâŠYoongi remembers what happened more than I do. I just remember pain. And fear. And I can find and see the scars. Like this one,â He said, guiding your fingers up and through his hair. You could barely feel it, but you could tell it had been surgical. It was too straight and long to be anything else. âDid theyâŠ?â âThe doctors did that. Iâd had repeated concussions, and they had to do surgery when Yoongi brought me to the hospital. I donât have any real memories from before, just impressions, feelings, and slurred voices that I couldnât recognize again if I tried. Itâs not all bad, it helped me move on faster but it also hindered me from recovering mentally as quickly as someone who could remember why they were terrified.â He slid his hand along yours until his fingers were tangled with yours and he pulled it from his head. âEither way, the past is in the past. I got something much better from all that trouble. I have a family, and freedom. Who knows, maybe it was meant to be this way.â You nodded. âSometimes the families we create ourselves are better than the ones weâre born into.â He pressed a kiss to your hand. Was he trying to drive you mad? âThatâs very true.â âYouâre veryâŠphysical.â âUhâŠâ âI mean, with affection. Youâre alwaysâŠâ âOh.â He chuckled, but sounded a little embarrassed. âI am. Sorry. When I care about someone, I justâŠI tend to let it show.â Right, and he was emotionally invested in your well-being since he witnessed you getting hurt. He couldnât help it. It was instinctual. Once you were better, heâd be released from the drive to take care of you and everything would be nearly as it was before. You would be find a way to get over him.

Angst with fluffs: 2,004 words
A/N: Part 4, after what seems like forever, Iâm posting the fourth part. I hope you like it. Iâm working on the fifth part and Iâll finish that just as soon as I finish Namjoonâs part of Pack Trials (itâs at about 4.5k right now and Iâm aiming for 6k like the others), a valentines day post is also in the works, and apparently that Taehyung post is expected to be a series so...weâll see if thereâs actually going to be another part to it. Actually, I have a lot in the works. Iâm updating all of the masterposts and putting in images and stuff. Let me know what you think of both this and the updated masterposts (which should be updated in the next couple days).
Life was playing a cruel prank on you. Sure, you couldnât see Hoseok to pine after or fall in love with him. You could just smell and hear him. You could almost taste him. He assaulted your remaining senses, slowly driving you closer to the insanity of just telling him. But then youâd have to try and interpret the silence. You would be suffocated by the tension and awkwardness that even the triplets couldnât diffuse. No. It was better if those feelings didnât exist. That you didnât find him more attractive than any man you had ever dated or met. That he didnât strike you as one of the most compassionate and gentle men in existence. And he was absolutely oblivious to what you felt. Which was how it should be. Especially after you heard Minsu asking about Hoseok's girlfriend. The pup sounded like he would like to throw said girlfriend off a relatively tall building. You didnât hear the response, but a pouty Minsu was soon cuddling up to your side and faltering as he worked on his reading with you. He sounded close to crying when he first came in, gasping little breaths and voice wobbling, but he was calmer now. More focused on the book. âMinâŠah. Sorry, Y/n. I told them not to bug you.â Hoseokâs voice broke the silence that had fallen as Minsu wrote out a word that you had just taught him. âIâm bored out of my mind,â You laughed softly. âIâm just helping Minsu work on his reading. Heâs not bugging me at all.â âIâm being good, Hyung. I asked first,â Min-min squeaked. âOkayâŠI have to call myâŠfriendâŠâ Minsu breathed in a slight growl, almost unheard by you even though he was in your arms and your hearing was somewhat stronger due to the loss of sight. You bit your lip, finding his head and stroking his hair before rubbing his ears, hoping to calm him. âOkay. Did you want to send Nari and Kaemon in here so that you know where they are while youâre making the call?â âI donât think so. Theyâre working together on some addition and subtraction equations and my call shouldnât take that long. Do you need anything?â You shook your head. âNot as long as my water glass is full.â You heard him come in and take it. âItâs almost empty. Iâll refill it and bring it back. Minsu, we will talk about what happened earlier once you finish that book.â There was a slight whine from the boy beside you. âDonât wanna.â âToo bad. Iâll be right back.â Hoseokâs steps retreated. Minsu huffed and cuddled a little closer. âI donât like her. She smells funny. She doesnât smile at us for real. She wrinkles her nose whenever eomma is around. Why canât you be with him?â You took a deep breath. âMinsu, donât say things like that. Youâll understand when youâre older.â You stroked his ears, then placed a small kiss on his head. âYour brother and I just met. Minsu sniffed. âSo? Youâre the best. You and mommy are friends. And Hobi-hyungâs tail gets bushier when he sees you. You get all pink and smiley when heâs around too, like Jiminie-hyung when heâs around Ariel-noona. Or mommy when sheâs around daddy. Or Aunt Becca around Uncle Mike.â âOh, MinâŠâ You whispered. âI wish it were that simple.â You pulled him into your arms. âNow, letâs finish the book.â He sighed and kept reading, some of the words garbled and his frustration mounting. He stopped, taking deep breaths to calm down while you stroked his ears. âItâs hard. Why is it hard? The letters keep changing.â You hummed thoughtfully. âItâs okay, Minsu. Just take your time. Weâll work through it all. Itâs just going to take patience and perseverance.â He flipped the page. âOkay, y/n. Youâll help me, right?â âAs much as I can,â You confirmed, leaning over to nuzzle his head lovingly. His hair and fur were soft and silky, and he smelled nice. He made a soft sound of contentment, then you felt him move so he could sniff at your bandages. Then climbed up to kiss your cheek and then play with your hair. âCan we be done for now?â âYour brother will be back soon, so yes.â He ran his small fingers through your hair, humming slightly. âHobi-hyung is going to be our teacher. When Mommy canât do it anymore. Heâs got a degree and everything.â âReally? Are you excited?â âYeah, heâs the coolest. He helped me learn the alphabet. He was gone for long time because of school. We missed him lots and lots. He visited lots, too. If heâs teaching us, then heâll be staying.â He went still for a moment. âRight?â He sounded so worried. âIâm staying, Min-min,â Hoseok said. You flinched, startled by his sudden reappearance, then winced as Minsu plopped back down on the bed in his own surprise. âPromise?â Minsu finally asked. âPromise, now, go wait for me in your room while I check y/nâs bandages.â He walked in and scooped the boy up, earning a squeal, then you heard smaller footsteps rushing out of your room. The bed sunk as Hoseok sat on the edge. There was a slight tug on the book in your hands and you let go. âIâll put that away.â You nodded a little. âHe can only read for a little while before he gets frustrated. Especially when heâs already upset. Normally Iâm able to help him through the words. Help him keep his place.â You splayed your fingers across the blanket, shivering. He sighed. âIâŠI know itâs frustrating. The doctors said it was temporary, though.â You didnât have a response to that. You took a deep breath while he examined your wounds, unwrapping the bandages and applying the medicine. âMinsu isâŠheadstrong. Passionate. He gets some ideas in his head and they just donât come out.â He was quiet for a moment. âI suppose he talked about her.â âHerâŠyour girlfriend? The one he dislikes? He may have mentioned something about her.â You smiled a little. âKids can be a littleâŠdramatic.â âSheâs not my girlfriend,â He groaned. âShe was the other student teacher at the school I was interning at for my last semester and we were carpooling. We stopped by here a couple times for dinner because we were both broke college students and Emma was more than happy to feed us. Because Jimin brought Ariel around, Minsu just sort of assumed it was the same thing and it isnât. We didnât get along like that. But explaining that to a five-year-old is hard.â âIt is,â You agreed, trying not to let your happiness show. He didnât have a girlfriend. âI wouldnât dare bring a girlfriend around them unless I knew she was the one. Theyâre too important to me. I have too many goals to worry about a girlfriend right now.â Your heart dropped again, and suddenly you felt nauseous. You wanted to blame the pain medicine, but you werenât even sure that you could speak. âHey, you okay? You look pretty pale all of a sudden,â He said, feeling your forehead. His hand was warm against your skin. âMmm, stomach,â You breathed, trying to breath evenly so that you wouldnât puke on him. That definitely wouldnât help your case. âHow bad?â You hummed uncertainly, uncomfortable with the whole situation all of a sudden. âI think Iâm okayâŠâ âYou feel clammy,â He murmured. âLetâs get you to the bathroom so I can at least change the bandages on your leg.â You nodded, pushing yourself up a bit so that he could pick you up more easily. You werenât allowed to even walk using crutches. As it was, he had to be very careful lifting you and had actually spent an hour learning the proper procedure to take care of you from the nurses at the hospital, which only made you feel guilty. He lifted you gently, pulling your body against his. He was warm and his presence comforting while also off-putting. âHey, relax, Iâve got you. Itâs okay.â His tone betrayed that he was smiling. âItâs not okay. I feel useless. I knew it wouldnât be easy but itâs...I canât even help them read. I just have to guess what theyâre trying to read or tell them to spell it out to me. I canât get to the bathroom on my own. I jump at the slightest noises and the pain medicine makes my thoughts race.â You closed your eyes. âItâs not okay. If I had just been a little fasterââ âHey,â He cut you off. âThat thing about your thoughts racing, I believe it. I told you, itâs going to be okay. We volunteered for this, y/n. We volunteered to take care of you. I volunteered to take care of you. I knew what it would entail. I can see your injuriesâŠâ He choked slightly. âI carried you to the hospital. Do you understand what that does to hybrids?â âNot exactly,â You answered, breathing shakily. He carefully set you down, guiding your injured leg carefully to a spot that was elevated. He sighed. âNot only would the kids have panicked, gone almost feral, but I would have to. Seeing you get injured, carrying you to the hospital as you bled on meâŠmy instincts were going crazy in the hospital. I could barely let you out of my sight. I have this need to take care of you and protect you, and I canât fight it. I canât change how the medicine affects you, but I can talk to you when your mind starts racing. Donât worry about me minding taking care of you or being useless. I need to do this. If I had grabbed you faster, if I had pulled you up the moment I caught hold of you, or found a way to stretch down farther so you wouldnât have stepped on that new spot, if, if, ifâthere are a hundred thousand different things that in retrospect could have been done differentlyâŠbut many of those would have resulted in your death. We both chose to protect them. The kids. My baby siblings. You didnât have to help them.â âOf course I did,â You argued weakly, feeling sick. You grabbed his arm before he continued applying the medicine to your leg. His other hand came to your face. âStomach?â You nodded, fighting against it. You did not want to throw up in front of him. You probably already looked like a mess, your hair felt nasty to the touch, but because of your stitches you couldnât wash it. Not to mention you couldnât see to wash it. He felt your forehead, his skin cool against yours. âI think you might have a bit of a feverâŠâ He sounded concerned, like he was looking away from you, but he still stayed right beside you. You just shrugged a bit, too busy trying not to throw up to give him a real response. He sighed softly, probably thinking it was inaudible, and guilt rained on you again. He kissed your forehead beside the bandage. âYeah. You feel too warm. Are you feeling warm or cold?â âWarm,â You managed to choke out. He nodded, humming softly. âCan you sit up on your own for a second while I get a thermometer?â You nodded, bracing yourself. He went a couple steps away and opened something. You could hear him rummaging around, then the quiet sound of satisfaction when he found it and then he was coming back to you⊠Nausea overwhelmed you and you threw up into the tub. He quickly caught you before you could fall and hurt your leg more, pulling your hair away from your face and gently rubbing your back. âItâs okay, donât worry about it,â He murmured when tears started sneaking down your face. âShh, itâs okay.â

A/N: Itâs not my best work. Seriously. Iâm sorry. I struggled with this a lot.Â
âAre you sure about this? What if they donât like me?â âY/n, relax. Hoseok already likes you, and I love you so Eomma and Appa will love you too. So will Jungkookie and the triplets.â âOh gosh, the triplets. What are their names again?â You asked, wringing your hands in the passenger seat. âMinsu, Nari, and Kaemon. Minsu doesnât have a tail, Kaemon has human ears, thatâs how you tell them apart. Relax, the triplets love easily. Kae is the only one you need to be careful around. Heâll warm up to you after a while, just respect his space. Heâll come to you.â Jimin pulled up to the house and parked in his spot, then turned to you. You looked back at him, chewing your lip nervously. âMaybe I shouldnât haveââ âThen youâd be spending Thanksgiving alone. Your parents are on the other side of the country. I love you. Youâll be fine. Iâll be right beside you all day.â Jimin leaned over with a purr and kissed you. âCome on. I want you to meet my family.â You finally got out of the car, carrying the cheesecake you had made for today. He kept purring, trying to comfort you. âItâll be fine. I promise.â He opened the door and held it for you. You hesitantly stepped inside, immediately inhaling the mouth-watering scent of turkey cooked to perfection and the subtle undertones of a fire in a fireplace. Jiminâs purr got even louder. âEomma? Appa? Iâm home and I brought y/n!â You heard the soft murmur of conversation suddenly turn excited and you gave Jimin a panicked look before a small, knee-high blur of black hair and a red sweater hit Jiminâs legs. âJimin-ssi!â âYou little gremlin, thatâs hyung to you,â Jimin laughed, scooping up the child and tossing him into the air before cuddling up with him. âJimin-ssi!â The boy said again, grinning and then rubbing his nose against Jiminâs. Jimin then tucked the boy up to his neck, both of them scenting each other lovingly. âMissed you, Min-min.â Your heart was bubbling over with warmth at seeing how loving Jimin was with the child and your mind drifted to wondering what he might be like when he was a father. Your head was screeching in panic at meeting his family. Your stomach felt like a stone. Jimin turned with Minsu toward you. âMinsu, this is y/n. My girlfriend.â The boy smiled at you. âHi!â He was waving. You managed to smile and wave back. Both Jimin and Minsu looked concerned. Minsu beat Jimin to speaking. âAre you scared? Weâre not scary! I promise! Well, Yoongi-hyung can be scary. So can Namjoon-hyung. And Appa, when weâve been naughty. But weâre not scary.â You looked at Jimin. âDoes it really show?â He purred with slight amusement. âCome here, y/n. Weâll go out there together.â He set Minsu down. You let him tuck you into his side, and the two of you following Minsu into the kitchen and living room. âEomma!â Minsu called, running over to the only other woman in the room. A human. Right. Jimin had said she was a human. She looked over and smiled softly, coming over and hugging Jimin. Kissing his cheek, then turning to you and smiling welcomingly. âY/n? Iâm Emma. Itâs a pleasure to meet you. Jimin has told us so much about you.â âI brought cheesecake,â You squeaked out, holding out the carrier. She grinned. âGreat! Iâll put it in the kitchen.â She took it carefully and walked toward the kitchen. Jiminâs father came over and greeted you, and it wasnât as scary since you had met him before. âY/n, weâre so happy youâre joining us for Thanksgiving! We were actually just asking Jimin when we would meet you.â Jimin hissed in embarrassment. âAppaââ Hoseok came over, laughing. âReally, we were. Last friday when Yoongi-hyung got here we didnât know we would have the pleasure of you joining us.â âYoongiâs still here, right?â Jimin suddenly was searching the room. âHeâs upstairs with the baby,â Jin replied, hand brushing through Minsuâs hair, the child clinging happily to his leg now. A bunny-hybrid (Jungkook, right?) peeked over Hoseokâs shoulder. He looked at you then nodded. âYouâre right. Sheâs even prettier in person, hyung.â You blushed, glancing at Jimin. âYah! Whatâs wrong with you?!â Jimin lunged at his brothers, leaving you looking at the three men playfully wrestling with a little surprise. Minsu dove onto the pile, followed by a little girl and another boy and it turned into a tickle fight, the three older boys tickling the younger three kids. Jin chuckled. Soon the pile was just the triplets cuddling and scenting Jimin as if he hadnât been there in forever when he had just been there yesterday. Kae was the first to frown and pull away, wrinkling his nose. âYou have a funny smell on you.â Minsu batted his brother. âItâs his girlfriend, silly. Smells good.â Kaemonâs gaze shifted to you and he shrunk back, hiding behind Hoseok. âItâs okay, Kaemonnie,â Jimin murmured softly. âTake your time. Sheâs just going to join us for dinner.â Kaemon slowly nodded after he saw you nod and gently smile at him. He studied you from behind Hoseok for a couple minutes, then scrambled behind the other canine-hybrid that came over with a monkey-hybrid that was grinning. Jimin got to his feet. âUh, anyway. Y/n, this is Jungkook, Namjoon, Taehyung, Kaemon, and this little pup is Nari!â He scooped up the little girl and cuddled her lovingly. She relaxed into his arms, making soft noises of happiness. The soft smell of lilac wafted through the room. You dipped your head. âNice to meet you all.â Namjoon smiled back at you. Jimin came back to your side, taking your hand. âThey donât normally live here. Just during the holidays. Yoongi-hyung will be down soon. He just adopted the cutest little kitten. Poor thing was abandoned.â Jimin had a slight growl in his voice at the last word. âItâs in the past now,â A new voice said. You turned toward the cat-hybrid that must have been Yoongi. He had a small baby in his arms, and a small giggle came from the bundle along with the smell of vanilla and sugar cookies. Yoongi purred happily. âHyung, this is y/n. My girlfriend.â Yoongi smiled softly. âPleased to meet you.â You hesitantly nodded toward the baby. âMay I?â He nodded, letting you go over and look at the baby. You could see injuries on her, starting to heal now, but still far too recent. You could smell the medicine that was put on some injury you couldnât see. âSheâs a maine coon and american shorthair mix,â You said, finger tracing over the infantâs ear. He looked at you in surprise. âY/n specializes in hybrid breeds. Specifically medical anomalies associated with mixing breeds and species in infants,â Jimin explained, rubbing his head against your shoulder. âSheâs really good at identifying breeds, even mixed ones.â Yoongi looked at you curiously. âYou sure?â âThe shape of her ears, her markings, the fact that her fur is between short and long-hair. It narrows it down to a few species. What about her tail?â You asked, knowing it was one of the best confirmations. He tensed. âGot cut off halfway down.â You felt your eyes narrow, and Jiminâs arms around your waist tightened when a growl slowly started in your throat. âWhat? Who wouldâŠugh. Never mind. I know. Sheâs obviously better with you. Listen to that healthy purr.â You heard your own voice soften and the purr that came from Jimin said he found the change adorable. âFoodâs ready. Hands washed. Jimin, find out what y/n would like for a drink?â Emma called out, taking dishes to the table. Jimin nuzzled into your neck. âWhat do you want, baby?â âWater. Just water.â You cuddled back into him. âAm I doing okay?â âYouâre doing great, baby. Go take a seat, Iâll be there in a second.â You went over somewhat nervously, taking a seat on one side. Jimin came with glasses of water for both of you and sat down on one side. His tail wrapping around your ankle to comfort you a little. He seemed to know that while you found his family nice and welcoming you were still nervous about making a good impression. Kaemon clambered into the seat next to you, perching on the seat and offering you a shy smile. âI sit here?â You smiled back, then nodded. You knew it took him a lot to build up the courage to sit there next to you. Minsu leaned on his elbows. âAre you and Jimin-hyung going to get married?â Emma lightly whapped the pre-schoolerâs arms. âNo elbows on the table.â You were sure your face looked like a tomato. At the very least you felt like you could fry an egg on your face. Jimin chuckled, purring slightly. âMaybe.â He caught your eye. âWhat do you think, baby?â You trapped his tail against your ankle with your other foot, making your threat clear. He cleared his throat, suddenly looking nervous. âUh, right. Anyway, Kae, do you need help?â You looked over saw him struggling to cut some of his turkey. He looked up at you, then offered the utensils to you. You took them, cutting the meat up for him. âThere.â The boy caught your hand and rubbed his cheek against the back of it. âThank you.â You swallowed your weird purr, smiling at him. âYouâre welcome.â He gave you a sweet smile, and you could see both of his parents in him. Adorable. Way too adorable. Minsu started talking to you about his lessons and about Jimin, telling you stories in an adorable way that had Jimin blushing and complaining weakly. Minsu just seemed to draw encouragement from his older brotherâs protests and the chuckles of the rest of his family. Kaemon kept looking to you when he needed help, even though his Mom was sitting on his other side. You made it through the dinner, following Jimin and two cuddly pre-schoolers into the living room. Jimin sat with you, pulling both boys up to sit with the two of you. They were out before you two even finished getting comfortable. Jimin leaned over and kissed you. He tasted like the cranberry sauce that he appeared to love so much. âSee? Told you itâd be fine. They love you.â He was purring and he kissed you again. You leaned into the kiss, finally letting your own garbled purr out.
