Fluffy fluff with a hint of angst: 2,204 words
A/N: It’s been ten months since I updated this. Exactly ten months. Now, I know you guys are going to skip over this, but I want to say that I don’t think Yoongi will ever have a love interest. Not while Euny is little, maybe when she’s a teenager or something. So, I’m going to say that this series is complete, with the caveat of requests or something. If you have objections to Yoongi not having a love interest, come discuss it with me!
Yoongi lifted the blanket. “Boo!”
She jumped, and grinned, giggling happily.
He let the blanket drop over her again and snatched it up. “Boo!”
She squealed and made grabby hands as she giggled.
He scooped her up, tilting her so he could blow a raspberry on her adorably chubby tummy.
Eunyeong squealed in delight, playfully batting at his ears.
He laughed and then cuddled her, play-biting on her ears and drawing out more giggles and even a playful little growl that meant nothing as she squirmed in delight in his hold.
She descended into purrs soon enough, nuzzling his jaw and eyes droopy with happiness and sleepiness.
He lay her down in her crib with a soft purr, draping the blankets over her as her eyes shut and her sleepy purrs slowed.
“Teach me your magic,” Taehyung whispered from the doorway. “Or is the magic that she loves you better.”
“I’m her father,” Yoongi said, trying not to preen at how happy he felt at being able to put her down for a nap more easily than Tae or their occasional babysitter.
“I wouldn’t have expected her to fall asleep after getting riled up like that.” Taehyung flicked the light off with his tail as they headed out into the living room, carefully closing the door so that they could talk without waking her. “How was her appointment?”
“Doctor said she’s at a healthy weight and they’re happy with her progress,” He purred, letting himself ride the high of such a good report. “They still want us to keep her on the formula mixed with oatmeal, but we’re clear to feed her mostly solid foods.”
Taehyung grinned. “That’s great, hyung. She’s growing so fast.”
“The only thing they’re worried about is her talking level. She’s still a little behind there,” Yoongi said, cleaning up some of the toys and blankets from playing with Euny. “But we already knew that.”
“That’s why we’re reading to her more, right?”
“Yeah.” Yoongi moved into the kitchen, effectively sorting the dishes and stacking them next to the sink. He filled the sink and turned to grab a dishcloth, only to find Taehyung holding one with a stubborn look.
“I’ll wash, hyung, it’s only fair. I was gone this morning.” He stepped around Yoongi and started washing immediately. “I sold a few paintings, hyung.”
“Really? That’s great, Tae,” The elder purred, patting Taehyung on the back. “Your older or your newer?”
“Older, the ones I did in school. I’ve got the pictures and prints for my portfolio, don’t worry,” Taehyung reassured Yoongi’s next concerns with a grin. “The gallery said I could come back and sell again next time.”
Yoongi just grinned back, ruffling the monkey’s hair.
“Appa.” Euny’s voice came from the monitor and both of them paused, listening carefully.
“Appa!” She called again, louder this time.
Yoongi sighed. “She’s already awake?”
“Did we turn on the white-noise-machine?”
Yoongi groaned, and then headed back in to look at his pouty baby.
Her tail was sort of flicking back and forth in agitation.
He went over. “What’s wrong, princess?”
Her ears swiveled every which way and then flattened and she hissed, but not at him, just as a demonstration to him that something was wrong and she couldn’t explain what.
But he knew Tae was right just by the way her ears had swiveled around. He hummed thoughtfully and turned on the machine, then twisted the key on the music box that Seokjin had given her for her birthday. She loved it to pieces and it played one of the songs Yoongi had written for Eunyeong—a lullaby that he had Jungkook record a couple days after Taehyung returned from Europe, but that was currently only circulated around his family members—and it had a cute little kitten inside it that was frolicking in stardust.
Her purr was immediate after hearing the first note of the music box. “Appa.”
He purred in response, then quietly hummed the song along with the music box, scooping her up again and lovingly nuzzling her.
She drifted off more slowly, still not quite asleep when he lay her in her crib, but quickly dropping off as he backed away.
Taehyung glared at him when he returned. “No fair at all.”
Yoongi just shrugged. “You have to take into account that I also understand her kitten behavior better, Tae.”
“Yeah, yeah. So it was the white-noise machine?”
“Yup.”
“Did she really hiss at you?”
“Not at me, just as a general statement, really.” He shrugged. “She hissed at the lack of sound. She’s never hissed at me.”
“Lucky,” Tae huffed. “She’s all giggles and purrs for you and her crying doesn’t last nearly as long as it does for me, or Bethany.”
“Speaking of Bethany, did you really go on a date with her?”
“Oh…um…maybe?”
Yoongi groaned. “I need to find a new babysitter, don’t I?”
“Sorry, hyung.”
“You better find me a new one,” He warned, a slight growl to his tone. “I liked her and Ariel recommended her.”
“If you get the promotion they keep dangling in front of you, then we can move back closer to home and the others can help.”
“I told you, it was just thrown out as something that may or may not happen next year. They’re still constructing offices that way and I’m one of several candidates, not to mention the only hybrid candidate. My company is pretty good about equal opportunity, but the chances are still slim to none. Neither of us should get our hopes up. Now, you’re going to be the one talking to Jimin for three hours to talk to Ariel for ten minutes.”
“You make that sound like a bad thing,” Taehyung protested, grinning.
“It is a bad thing, Taehyung,” Yoongi growled a little more.
The monkey ducked his head, tail finding and wrapping around Yoongi’s wrist. “I’m sorry, hyung. Really.”
“It took Eunyeong all of the two weeks you were gone to warm up to Bethany, and even then she still cried when either of us left her for another month. Just because she was a baby when she was abandoned doesn’t mean she doesn’t still have abandonment issues,” Yoongi said firmly. “Maybe a human baby wouldn’t, but Euny isn’t human. She’s a hybrid.”
Taehyung’s head was hanging. “I know. I really am sorry, hyung. I’ll take care of it.”
Yoongi sighed, but patted Taehyung on the back, ending that conversation. He knew the younger man didn’t mean to cause trouble. He’d always been a little impulsive, but he cared for Eunyeong strongly and would do his best to replace their current babysitter—if need be.
“Did she already tell you she wouldn’t be back?”
“No, but I’m assuming right now. I need to call her about Wednesday night, so we’ll see what happens. If she refuses, then I’ll ask our family for Wednesday and you’ll have to get to work finding a replacement.” They both had important things on Wednesday night—Taehyung at a gallery, and Yoongi at a work gala he didn’t want to go to but needed to if he wanted to stay in consideration for the promotion.
“Hyung?”
“Yeah?”
“What about you?”
“What about me?” Yoongi asked, looking up at his brother in confusion.
Taehyng was focused on whatever dish he was washing. “It’s just…one of the reasons we got a babysitter was so that we could both do things. So you could go on dates…even if I’m not available….”
Yoongi internally cringed, but outwardly just started messing with his own hair.
“I mean, when was the last time you’ve gone on a date?” Taehyung asked, obviously concerned.
Yoongi shrugged. “Remember that orange tabby?”
Taehyung made a choked sound. “Before you moved here?! Two years ago?!”
Yoongi shrugged again.
“Hyung, you need to get out more!” Taehyung looked very concerned, almost panicked. “It’s not healthy!”
“And it is healthy to have a different date everyone night?” Yoongi snapped back, frowning and folding his arms. “I’m not suffering, Tae.”
“You don’t honestly want to do it alone your whole life,” Taehyung replied.
Yoongi hardened. “Do what alone?”
Tae froze, eyes widening.
“Do what alone, Taehyung? Raise Eunyeong?” He asked again, glaring at his brother.
Taehyung’s gaze dropped to the dishes again.
Yoongi huffed in frustration. “My priority is making sure Eunyeong grows up happy and healthy. I don’t need a significant other to make sure she has everything she needs. Would it maybe be easier? Maybe. And yes, I wonder if she would be better off in the future having a mom in her life, but that’s not a good reason to enter into a relationship.” Not to mention he didn’t feel the need to be in a relationship. “If you feel like I’m holding you back in any way, you’re free to move out.”
Taehyung’s gaze snapped back up to look at Yoongi in true panic and regret. “I didn’t mean that, hyung! I just…I don’t want you to get lonely.”
“I’m not,” Yoongi replied gently, satisfied that Taehyung understood him. “I’m not lonely. If I do get lonely, you’ll probably be one of the first to know. But dating…right now, I’m not interested. I have everything I wanted—well, other than living close to the rest of our family. But I have my own place, a job I love, a nice roommate, and my daughter. I never thought I would be this happy. I know I’m not a mom, but I’m doing the best that I can and I haven’t hesitated to ask for help, have I?”
Taehyung shook his head, drying his hands and coming over to latch onto Yoongi.
Yoongi sighed and patted his back. “I know you mean well, Tae. And if someone comes along that I’m interested in, then I’ll freak out and probably lose my chance with them and come home and cuddle with Eunyeong talking about how I don’t need anyone.”
Tae let out a little monkey laugh at that, tail wrapping around Yoongi’s waist and knocking them over onto the couch.
“Yah!” Yoongi protested loudly.
Tae just laughed and stayed attached to Yoongi, forcing him into cuddling.
Yoongi protested for a while longer, then just resigned himself to it after a while, especially since his insomniac brother was fast asleep.
A nap didn’t sound too bad.
A little giggle came from the baby monitor.
Tae woke up just enough for Yoongi to escape and get the little kitten.
Yoongi carried her back out to the couch, letting Tae cuddle back up to him.
Euny curled on his chest, giggling as she made little kitten noises with her stuffed animal.
He moved it for her, creating more little giggles and a purr, and felt a warm sense of satisfaction. He read to her, speaking lowly and catching the way she just stared at his face in awe. Maybe understanding, maybe just listening to his low voice as he read.
“Appa,” She murmured, eyes looking heavy.
“Yes, princess?” He asked lowly, glancing to make sure Tae was still asleep.
“‘Ove oo,” She slurred with a mewl. She let out a little kitty sound that said she loved him.
He returned the cat-like affection, then shifted so they were cuddled up more comfortably. “I love you too, Eunyeong.”
“Wuv Taetae too,” She slurred, reaching over and patting Taehyung’s head.
His tail languidly wrapped around her ankle.
Yoongi kissed her chubby little cheek. “He loves you too, princess.”
She wiggled up and kissed him. “Appa.”
He purred softly, brushing her hair from her face and pressing kisses all over her face and getting more giggles and wiggled.
“No, appa!” She squealed as he playfully mouthed her kitten ears, giggling and wriggling to try and escape.
He grinned and laughed, ducking so she could get back at him. He slid them onto the floor, laying on his stomach while she crawled over him and tried to catch his tail-tip (which he let her do because she was moving so well and he was so proud of his baby, he could withstand her little bites on his tail).
He got distracted by his phone for a moment while she was playing with his tail. He grinned and nudged Taehyung awake. “Taehyung-ah.”
Taehyung looked at him blearily.
“Jin said that she’s having twins,” He said, amusement putting a little bit of a cat noise in his voice.
Taehyung started laughing. “Of course she is.”
“One boy and one girl,” He added, shaking his head and pulling Euny away from the corner of the coffee table.
Euny went to Tae, holding her arms out. “Up peas.”
He complied and scooped her up, still laughing about Emma’s situation. “They going to be okay?”
“Yeah, Hobi is moving back in with them to help out with the triplets.”
They both got quiet after a bit while Euny babbled to her stuffed bunny.
“Okay, you really need to get that promotion so we can move closer to home.”
“Yup.”
“Yup yup!” Euny chirped, giggling and grinning at both of them.
Taehyung melted and started cooing over her and tickling her.
Yoongi watched with satisfaction, feeling complete.

A/N: Sorry I didn’t get it posted this morning, Tuesdays are my busy days and I didn’t wake up early enough to post it. It’s not exactly what was asked for, but it’s the closest approximation I could get given previously established stuff.
“Y/n? Are we going to any Halloween parties?”
You finished measuring out the allspice, trying to decide how to answer him. “Did you have some that you wanted to go to?” You dreaded costume shopping. It was a trial every year.
“Not really, I usually go home for Halloween or to Jimin-hyung’s. We could stay in and watch Halloween movies instead. Especially if—is that pumpkin bread?” His ears perked up, and he bounced a little as he stayed at the edge of the kitchen.
“It will be. I think movies sound great,” You replied, slowly adding your dry ingredients to the mixture in the mixer. “You’re okay with walnuts, right?”
“Yes!”
You nodded, happy that he was because you really loved having nuts in your pumpkin bread.
He was humming softly, sitting on the other side of the counter so that he could be with you while not being in your way. “You’ve been cooking a lot lately.”
You shrugged a bit.
“I had to start working out again,” He commented, laughing a bit.
Your cheeks burned a bit. “Oh.”
He noticed, of course he would. “It’s not a bad thing. I like having so much food. And I really like the recipes you’ve been trying out lately.”
You nodded. “I’m glad.” You started adding water to the mixture, eyes glued to it so you wouldn’t look at Jungkook. The two of you had been dating for almost a year now, but there was still some uncharted territory. Like how your weight tended to fluctuate, especially around fall and in early winter.
“Y/n?”
“Hmm?”
“You okay?”
You nodded. “Just focusing on baking.”
“Alright,” he said after a moment. “I’ll go pick out our first movie. Did you get the candy for the apartment kids?”
“It’s by the door, and don’t you dare steal any until we know trick or treating is over, Jeon Jungkook.”
He laughed, but he went straight to the living area and started looking through the movies the two of you owned.
You’d sort of gradually moved in, officially getting the lease changed about two weeks ago when your previous lease ended and his was about to get renewed. Moving the last of your things into the spare bedroom, even though you spent every night in his room.
“Probably a good thing we’re not going to a party, I’ve got a meeting with one of my teachers tomorrow,” He called out.
“That teacher finally set a meeting to talk about that paper?”
“Yeah, and I have your notes. I’m glad I’ve got such a smart woman watching over me,” He said, arms wrapping around you as he came back into the kitchen. “Train to Busan or Beetlejuice?”
“Both?” You wiggled. “Tail.”
“Sorry,” He grumbled, stepping back so your tail was freed and then reattaching once he pushed it out of the way. “That smells so good.”
You added in the chopped walnuts, then pulled over your bread pans. Jungkook had gotten you two bread pans for your birthday and you’d given him lots of kisses because you made at least three pans of bread every week, especially as the weather started turning cold. Your instincts had you both stocking up on food, eating extra food, and gaining weight. You’d then lose said weight through the winter and be back in shape by spring. Maybe next spring the two of you would officially mate, now that you knew of each other’s habits and feelings wouldn’t be as hurt as this past spring. It wasn’t anything either of you could have helped. Neither of you really realized that the other was indicating they wanted to mate, especially since you both didn’t really realize how you were behaving in the first place. Him running circles around you, you running away and expecting to be chased and both of you being hurt when instinctual expectations weren’t met. And then before you two could properly sort things out, you had to leave for your student research position in Paraguay and you didn’t really have the resources to contact him, as much as it killed you. Plus you had to work twice as hard because you were a hybrid and everyone expected you to fail.
When you’d returned, he was waiting anxiously at the airport with candied pecans and a bouquet of daisies and you cried because of the month of stress and missing him. You didn’t leave his side for a whole week after that, panicking when he started leaving your side. He didn’t mind most of the time, a little worried about you because you also didn’t speak during that time, far too emotional. But when you did talk to him, late one night while the two of you were cuddled up in a blanket fort that felt very nest-like to you, he was so soft and gentle and it was honestly one of the best things ever. Even though you felt bad for your behavior both before leaving and after coming back.
He just seemed relieved that you were able to speak again, and told you that you weren’t allowed to be away that long without contact because he felt sick while you were gone. His family told you that he was a mess, and that they’d worried about him becoming depressed. And that he kept feeding squirrels in the park.
It was after that week that you realized that Jungkook wasn’t leaving your side either, and he kept bringing more and more food home. He didn’t actually want you away from him like you had supposed when you couldn’t stop clinging to him.
“Baby?” He whispered, nibbling on your neck. “You’re awfully quiet.”
“You’re warm,” You murmured back, finding yourself leaning back against him. “And I need to move, and can’t because of your arms.”
“Oh,” He whispered, but didn’t make any sort of attempt to leave your side. “That does sound like a problem.”
“I can’t make dinner until these are baked,” You whispered.
“What are we having for dinner?” He asked, his voice a little husky.
“Stuffed spaghetti squash, veggie enchilada style,” You answered, still almost in a whisper.
He moaned softly. “That sounds so good!”
“It will be, if I can make it,” You flicked his face with your tail and ducked out the moment his arms loosened in surprise.
“Wow, that’s cheating!” He batted at your tail, still losing as you flicked your tail out of your way multiple times as he tried to both box it and catch it. It was one of his new games. “Dang it’s fast.”
You hummed happily, pouring the batter into the pans and then sticking them into the oven, setting the timer and then spinning around just before he managed to catch your tail and blinking up at him through your lashes. “Jungkookie, don’t you think it’s time you said sorry to my tail for trying to abuse it?”
“It started it,” He muttered, folding his arms.
You tried not to laugh at his idea of your tail being a separate entity from yourself. “Is that so?”
“It keeps trying to come between us,” He said, watching it suspiciously as your tail curled around your feet and out of the reach of his hands.
“Hmm. So you tried to fight my tail.”
“It fought back!” He objected, pulling out the veggies from the fridge and started to nibble them in frustration.
You took one as well. “Jungkook, you do realize that my tail is attached to me, right? So if you grab my tail, it will lead to me either being hurt or hurting you?”
He looked away sheepishly. “Yeah, yeah. I know.”
You reached up and lovingly tugged on of his bunny ears. “Do you want me to play with your tail?”
He turned red, first his ears, then his neck, then his face. “No. No. I’m good.”
“Shame,” you whispered, kissing his cheek and heading toward the living room. “Let’s start with Beetlejuice, and then watch Train to Busan.”
“What about dinner?”
“I told you, I can make it until the pumpkin bread is done. Bring the veggies. I’m hungry too.”
He did as you said, sitting next to you and letting you cover both of you with your tail and a blanket. He had taken to petting his enemy during movies and such and you honestly weren’t going to complain.
The two of you didn’t get many trick-or-treaters, and most of them came while the two of you were having dinner.
Jungkook lay with his head on your lap for Train to Busan, sighing happily. “You’re so soft. I was right. Fall is the best time to cuddle you.”
You felt your cheeks burn. “How so?”
He kissed your knee. “You get a little squishy.”
“Excuse me?” You were a little confused by that.
He rolled onto his back to smile up at you. “You’re nice to cuddle with all the time, but because it’s fall and our nature tells us to put on weight for hibernation—even though we don’t hibernate—has made you all soft and comfy and you just feel fluffy. It’s nice. And your ass looks especially nice in my sweats now. You can weigh however much you like, y/n, as long as we’re healthy and happy and together, I’m happy. Now, are we going to watch the movies? Or are we going to cut into that pumpkin bread?”
You shrugged, still a little surprised by what he said.
“I vote pumpkin bread,” He chirped happily, rolling off of your lap and pulling you to your feet before dragging you to the kitchen. “Smells so good. Ooh, we should make apple pie soon!”
You shook your head, laughing as he continued listing different fall desserts and such that he wanted “us to make” which definitely meant you. He’d help now and then, but he definitely relied on you for the know-how.
“You really didn’t want to go to any parties, did you?” He asked teasingly, kissing your cheek as you cut into the bread.
“Finding costumes is a nightmare this time of year. Besides, then I’d have to deal with those sorority bunnies making eyes at you and somehow come out of there without having a handful of rabbit-tails.” You placed his piece on a plate and started slicing a smaller one for yourself.
“Even though you know I don’t care about them?”
“Yup. Because I’ve already heard enough about how ‘interspecies mating is a travesty’ from their dumb mouths. The only problem with interspecies mating comes when it’s a predator and prey sort of deal and even then, it’s not that big of a deal,” You grumbled, then waited as he tasted the bread.
He moaned in delight. “This is amazing.” He hugged you tightly to him, nuzzling against your neck.
You giggled as his nose barely brushed against your skin and his hair tickled your neck. “You sound more like you want to make love to it than stuff your face.”
“Can’t I eat it while making love to you?” He asked, popping another piece into his mouth with a pleased groan.
“Hmmm, pass.” You pushed out of his arms and darted down the hall.
“Hey!” He was close behind you, playfully chasing after you until he managed to catch you by his bed, pulling you to him by the waist and kissing your fiercely.
You giggled as you managed to break away again, leading him in a chase around the apartment, before he managed to catch you again, scooping you up into his arms.
“Are you courting me?” He asked, teasing.
Your cheeks burned at the question, your body rigid in his hold.
His expression softened. “Oh. Well. Would you look at that. Seems like your instincts have a trick and a treat in store for us,” He whispered, leaning in and kissing you before carrying you to the bed. He lay you down gently and kissed you. “I’ll put the food away. You get comfy.”
You nodded, still a little rigid.
He rubbed his nose against yours. “D-did you maybe…want…to…?”
You were beyond embarrassed.
“…Mate?” He finally finished the question, looking a little embarrassed himself.
“Are we ready for that?” You asked, looking away from him.
He was quiet for a moment, then his face was centimeters away and he looked determined. “I am if you are. I don’t have any doubts.”
“Neither do I,” You whispered.
He smiled. “I still need to put the food away.”
You nodded and watched him go, a little excited by how confident he seemed as he walked with a bounce in his step. “This isn’t a trick, right?”
He laughed, turning back. “No, it’s definitely a treat. Anything we need before?”
“Better bring snacks. I’ve been having midnight munchies.”
“Really? Me too. Well, 3 am munchies, but same difference. I’ll bring an assortment. And the candy.”
“Ooh! Yes!”
He laughed and bounded away to get the snacks and candy.
Your mate. He was going to be your mate. Your bunny.

Fluff and angst: 3,990 words
A/N: Exactly six months after the last part was posted...didn’t plan it. Had to take a break from the series I’ve been posting so I thought I’d try and update some stories that had been left since the spring.
You giggled and wrapped yourself in the blanket he had given you, paying no mind to your outfit or hair. It was the fluffiest blanket you had ever had to privilege to feel and you couldn’t wait to use it in a nest. You could imagine resting your pups in the plush fabric, safely cocooned in the nest, the scent of warm milk and baby powder, Namjoon’s scent wafting in as he checked on all of you… “You like it, love?” You opened your eyes and blinked flirtily at him. “You know me so well.” He chuckled, reaching out and pulling the blanket so he could duck in with you, arms around your waist and lips quickly pressing to yours. “I would hope so.” You hummed happily, wrapping your arms around his neck and kissing him all over his lips and cheeks until he had a dimply grin and was laughing a bit as his tail wagged wildly. You pressed your nose to his lightly, then tucked into his neck where you belonged. Where you could protect him and where he could protect you. “You should get ready to go meet Jimin,” He murmured after a while. “We’re looking at some places today, remember?”
You nodded, savoring the vibrations in his throat from speaking. “I remember. I tried to make a list like he suggested, but it still only has the yard, a fireplace and at least two bedrooms. One for us and one for our pups.” “Hmm, I have three bedrooms,” He carefully removed the blanket, then pulled his list out. “And I thought that a bathroom with a nice tub would be nice, and a basement.” You gasped in excitement. “Yes! A tub! And we can use the basement to store extra food!” He grinned and kissed you again. “So we’ll go with my list then?” You nodded enthusiastically and bounced away to your bedroom to change into better clothing for house hunting. “How many did Jimin say we were looking at?” “Four, if we have time. Five for tomorrow. He believes that even if there is one we want to make an offer on, we should also keep looking just in case it doesn’t go through.” “Makes sense,” you agreed. “Though, I can’t promise to think rationally if I do fall in love with a place. My head’s gets a little one-track lately.” He chuckled. “I’ll stay rational, baby. Did you go over your financial situation?” “Not yet, I just got my bank statement earlier today.” He moved to the kitchen. “You okay with me looking at your bank statement?” “I did just ask you to look at it, didn’t I?” You looked between two shirts. “What color is your shirt, again?” “Hmm? Oh, blue. Black pants. Tan sweater. Grey jacket.” You tilted your head, then decided on the light. “My scarf?” “Ah, no. I brought it back. It doesn’t smell like you right now. I’m wearing the scarf Minsu picked out for me when we stopped by to visit you the other day.” You grinned. “Ah, the black one?” “Yeah.” You nodded. Pulling your black sweater on and your faded blue jeans, pairing it with one of the beanies that you had kidnapped last time you were at his place. “Good natural lighting too!” You called out as you thought of all of his house plants. He made a sound that said he heard you but he wasn’t actually listening. You rolled your eyes and went out, finding him looking over all the papers. “That bad?” He glanced up, then looked back, worried. “Did you calculate your rent?” You looked it over and grunted. “Dammit. I knew I was forgetting something.” “Is this what you’re being charged for rent?” You nodded. He frowned. “That can’t be right. And did your hours get cut?” You nodded again, more slowly. He shook his head slowly. “Baby, you can’t even afford food with this rent. You won’t even have enough to pay rent. Even with what you have outside of your account. Your rent shouldn’t be this high, so I’m going to talk to Emma and have them investigate this, but still…this is…why didn’t you tell me?” You shrugged a little, feeling a little small. You looked over your bank statement, eyes getting big as you looked it over. “And is this large withdrawal from paying the lawyer?” You swallowed and set it aside. “No. I’ll have to call my bank. But right now we should head out and meet Jimin.” “Are you—” “I get paid tomorrow, and if you’re right about my rent then I should have enough, right?” You redirected. “Then I’ll have plenty for groceries. My favorite food is rice, so I don’t need that much money for groceries if I’m smart about things and a sale is starting on Thursday on the turkeys so I can get one of those and eat turkey in different ways for about a week, if not longer. Really, Joon, it’s okay. If the rent is right, then we’ll figure it out then. I’ll ask you to help me figure it out then.” He was still frowning, looking worried. “We’re going to be late,” You said gently, then pressed a little kiss to his lips and slipped from his grasp to get your coat on. He hadn’t moved yet, but a low growl emanated from his throat. You froze, ducking your head and looking to him. He stepped closer, towering over you. He looked huge. You looked away, tilting your head so your neck and throat were exposed to him. He felt along your throat to your artery with his lips, grazing his teeth along gently, and then directing your face so that your eyes met his. “Don’t lie to me, omega.” “I didn’t,” You whispered, blinking at him, a little startled. He breathed out heavily. “Then what was it about that withdrawal that scared you, because I can smell the fear.” You shook your head a bit. “Fight baby, not flight.” He gently stroked your throat with the backs of his fingers. “I’m here. I’ll protect you.” You whimpered slightly. “It was done at the bank. That means it had to be someone who has authority to access them.” His expression went stony. “Okay. We’ll talk to the bank after we’re done with Jimin. I’ll go with you.” You looked up at him, a scared whine to your voice. He pulled you close, tugging his shirt so that his throat was exposed to you and guiding you to it. You nipped gently since he scared you, but you nuzzled against it, relishing that sort of primal trust. His phone rang just as you released a sigh of relief. “That’ll be Jimin,” He murmured, pressing a gentle kiss to your lips. “Sorry I scared you, baby.” You shook your head, slipping your shoes on and helping him get his coat on as he gave mono-syllabic responses to whatever Jimin was saying. “No, we’re running a bit behind ourselves. Will that be okay for seeing the first house?” Namjoon met your gaze and rolled his eyes with a smile. You giggled softly. “Okay, we’re only fifteen minutes away. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Jimin,” He growled, sounding annoyed. He groaned and hung up. “That cat is crazy.” You just giggled and tucked yourself into his side as he opened the front door. You were happy he was able to even come into your apartment without getting all upset about how you lived. He wanted to reign gifts on you and take you to his place, where you were living in better conditions—not that the apartment itself was bad, he just hated that you lived in such a minimalist fashion because of finances. It took a couple visits for him to calm down, and make sure you understood that he respected that you did your best to provide for yourself. He still brought you things. Sometimes just flowers. Little figurines. This time a blanket. Providing for you in a way that still respected you and your independence. You weren’t about to complain about the gifts. Especially if his gifts were like the blanket. “If you’re worried about contributing to getting our place…” He started hesitantly, speaking low and calm as he turned out of the sanctuary and into traffic. “You don’t have to. I know that stupid shop doesn’t pay you enough. If it’s that important to you, then we can set your paycheck aside for anything we need in the house after we move in, or food.” You felt your cheeks heat up. “I was saving up. I know that I wouldn’t be able to contribute much toward the house…but now not being able to do anything….” “It’ll be okay. I know you wanted to contribute. Until we get this fixed, you should just get your check as cash. That way we can keep it out of anyone else’s hands until it’s all sorted. You did have a nice little nest egg saved up, didn’t you?” You nodded, pouting a little bit. “I wanted to save up so that I could still buy clothes and presents for birthdays and holidays while I was looking for another job.” “You were doing really well, baby. I’m really proud of you.” You sighed, then perked up as he pulled into a driveway. You felt your ears go back after a moment though. He parked and didn’t say anything for a moment. “Well….” “It may be really nice on the inside. And it might be nice to have something to fix up, we can make it exactly how we want.” “Are you handy?” His silence said no. “Are you?” “I’ve picked a few things up, but not enough to fix that. We’d end up having to hire someone, even if we do get a family discount through Micheal, it’s not.…” “Yeah,” He agreed quietly. Jimin pulled up in his car, hopping out and sending a cheerful smile. You got out, trying to keep a positive mindset. It needed work, but it looked solid. “Now, I know it’s not perfect, but it would be well under your budget and leave room for repairs and remodeling,” Jimin said. “It has four acres, mostly wooded, backs up to the nature park of the Sanctuary. Four bedrooms, two baths, new furnace, and they left in some allowance for the roofing that needs to be redone.” You followed him to the front door, trying to imagine some flowers in front of the (sagging) porch. The smell hit you like a bucket of cold water. Namjoon gagged and backed away. Jimin winced. “Um…” “Close the door,” You choked out, clapping your hands over your nose and mouth. Jimin quickly complied, face showing his own disgust. “So, let me get the address of the next house because there is no way any hybrid with a sense of smell will want this.” You nodded, shuddering. The next house was much better, but the yard was far too small and Namjoon seemed uncomfortable. “I feel like I need to duck,” He finally admitted after you pestered him enough. Jimin slowly nodded. “Yeah, it does feel a little cramped, and I’m a bit shorter than you. But you liked the kitchen and fireplace?” “Yes.” “Alright. The next house doesn’t have a fireplace, but it does tick off most of your other boxes,” Jimin said, frowning at his papers. “Might as well head over, right?” You nodded, looking up at Joon. He smiled down. “Yeah. Let’s go.” You refused to get out at the next place the moment you caught a whiff of the air around the house, locking yourself and the keys into the car while both of them looked in at you in confusion and possibly amusement. “No.” “But why?” Jimin asked, obviously laughing. You growled lowly. Namjoon knocked on the window. “Can you at least let us into the car?” You wrinkled your nose and unlocked it, tucking your nose into your scarf. They climbed in and closed the doors again. “Well?” “Don’t you smell it?” You whispered, looking out the window. “Smell what?” You looked at them. “The dead things?” Namjoon’s eyes widened. Jimin shifted slightly. “Dead things?” You nodded. They exchanged looks with each other. Jimin cleared his throat, looking at the house. “Maybe it’s from the barn in the back? They may have had some animals before.” You curled your lip. “I’ll send a message to the police station, see if they might want to investigate,” Jimin said quietly. “Um, I guess I’ll hit the books and look for better contenders.” “Yeah, and we have to head to the bank to…straighten something out.” Namjoon quickly stroked your hair to soothe you. Jimin nodded. “Nothing that risks your house plans, I hope?” He looked genuinely concerned, frowning and keeping his curious gaze on Namjoon as if sensing your vulnerability and respecting it by not acknowledging it. Namjoon shook his head. “No. Nothing like that.” Jimin nodded. “Let me know if I can help in any way.” Namjoon nodded. “We’ll see you tomorrow?” “Yep, I’ll try to have a good selection for you guys. Hope everything works out easily,” He said with a broad smile at both of you and then got out of the vehicle and went to his own. You watched warily until he was pulling out of the driveway ahead of you and Namjoon, then relaxed once both vehicles were on the road. The bank was uncooperative, but finally they managed to get you an answer. “Because you aren’t independent, she has full rights to draw from the account.” “I haven’t lived with her for two years. I have paid every bill, bought every meal,” You argued, gripping the arms of the chair. “I earned that money and she took it from me. And you’re telling me that I just have to accept that I can’t pay my rent because my owner who wanted nothing to do with me took my money?” The man shifted in his seat. “What if I officially got my independence from her?” “That would protect your account from further withdrawal.” “But it wouldn’t allow me to get my money back,” You concluded from the way he left the sentence. “I’m afraid so.” Namjoon placed his hand over yours. “For now, can we close out her account?” “You would need her signature to close out the account now.” You clenched your teeth. “Can I withdraw as much as possible?” He considered it for a second. “That sounds like a good loop-hole. Just fill out a slip, and I’ll go get the money and a bag for it.” You sighed. “Thank you.” “Of course, miss.” He gave you a slip and then headed out to take care of it all. You filled it out, inching a little closer to Namjoon for comfort. He rubbed your shoulder a little. “Better than nothing?” “Much better than nothing,” You whispered. “At least I can prevent her from getting the rest of this. But I’ll really need the rent to be a mistake.” “Do you want to talk to Emma with me? We might be able to catch her while she’s still at work.” You nodded. He kissed your cheek. “We’ll sort it out.” After you got the money and thanked the banker for his help, the two of you headed to the administration building at the Sanctuary. He led you straight up to Emma’s office, whereas you got turned around more than once, and knocked on the door a couple times before just opening it and poking his head in. “Emma?” “Hey, come on in! And y/n! How are you? How was house hunting?” She smiled at both of you, holding a baby to her shoulder. You grinned. “Is that Jaehyun?” She nodded. “He’s a bit sick, so I wanted to keep him away from the other kids. You look stressed. You want to hold him.” “Yes please,” You chirped and took him, sitting down. “So, as much as I would hope you two just dropped in to visit…what’s wrong?” She sat back down and looked between you and Namjoon, her gaze gentle and ready to comfort. “It’s about y/n’s rent. I saw what she’s been getting billed and it seems really high.” Namjoon frowned slightly. “What have you been billed for?” Namjoon gave her the bill. Her eyebrow quirked. “Oh look. An internal investigation waiting to happen. Alright, do you keep record of your rent payments?” You nodded. “Alright, you get me the records as far back as you can and I’ll fix this. I’ll check with the other renters as well. I’ll let you know as soon as I sort this out.” She made a quick note on her notepad and typed something on her computer. “For now, don’t pay the rent. If anyone gives you trouble, send them my way. They’ll end up in the bathroom first, but they’ll make it eventually.” “You are a unique sort of bad-ass,” You murmured, shaking your head a bit. “I try. Not really. I just do what I have to to make it through the hour, day, week, month, and year. Paci.” You blinked then took the pacifier from her hand as Jaehyun started fussing a little, inserting it into his mouth. She hadn’t even looked over, and he hadn’t even made much noise. “But you never said how house-hunting went?” “Not well. Two of the places we didn’t even enter because of smells, and the other felt too cramped. But that house was enough to help Jimin narrow down some options to cater towards what we were looking for. I told Ariel that he might be a little discouraged after dealing with us today.” “He’s in good hands with her,” Emma agreed, filing some papers with a soft smile. “But it’s a good thing you warned her.” “Yeah.” You gazed down at the baby who was sleeping again. “You take such good care of your pups. I hope I’m as good.” “You will be. It takes practice. Twins are much easier than triplets, until the triplets also need your attention when the twins do and then it’s a nightmare.” She stared off into space. “I’m sure having Hoseok helping out during the day is nice,” You agreed. “He’s a god-send. Ren, too. She usually gets off at the same time as Jin, and the triplets adore her so they’re always angels for her and little demons for Jin and Hoseok.” She smirked, leaning back in her chair. “I should actually be getting home. But then he’ll be awake again and he needs his rest. Prioritizing with five kids can get difficult.” Jaehyung started crying around his pacifier. “Poor pup,” Namjoon murmured. You handed him over to Emma. “You just had to get sick,” She murmured so lovingly. “Let’s get you home to your Appa and siblings.” “I should walk you back to your place,” Namjoon told you, getting up and stretching. “Thanks, Emma.” “Of course. It should never have been a problem in the first place. Walk a mom to her car?” You nodded, picking up the baby carrier since she had her arms full with the actual baby. Namjoon took it from you, walking ahead of the two of you. Emma jerked her chin to signal you to walk slower with her while he went to press the elevator button. You did as she said, wondering why. “Are you going to be alright? It’s almost that time of year,” She murmured. You shifted uncomfortably. You had been trying to ignore the little preemptive signs, but now that she mentioned it, you had been feeling it coming on for a while. “I was hoping we would find a den first. I don’t know. I usually have the pre-heat symptoms for a month before it actually hits. I don’t want to worry him, but…I think being around him is making it happen more quickly.” “Tell him. He’ll worry about you but it’ll be better in the long run. He loves you. Don’t want it creeping up on you.” You nodded, a little nervous to tell him. You all were quiet in the elevator, aside from her humming softly to Jaehyun. Namjoon got the doors for the two of you, a protective alertness to his actions and posture. His ear swiveling towards any new sounds. Which was both extremely attractive and amusing since Emma was so well-known and everyone greeted her with friendliness. She greeted them as well, speaking softly but still well-heard. It was amusing to see how happy anyone got when she returned their greeting. “It’s like you’re a celebrity. Not that I’m surprised, since you’re basically the hero of all hybrids, but it’s amusing to see.” You bounced a bit as you walked. “I really didn’t do that much. My brother did more. He’s still doing more.” “Yeah, and you totally don’t have anything to do with his work anymore, it’s totally not like you don’t outline everything that he’s working to change. It’s not like you were his drive to change everything.” You could hear the eyeroll as the sarcasm dripped off Namjoon’s tongue, and giggled a little. “Tell us what you really think, Namjoon.” “She knows that she set all of this into motion,” He replied, opened the car door and starting to fasten in the carseat. You grinned at her as she shrugged. “Originally, yes. But I’m honestly not as involved anymore. Mike does it so that I don’t need to be involved as much. Especially after last summer.” She cuddled her son close, her cheek to his forehead. You’d heard somewhat about what happened last summer, and the way Namjoon suddenly released protective pheromones didn’t make you want to delve in. You definitely didn’t want to tell him tonight when he was already being protective without knowing that you were in the beginnings of your preheat. It was up to you to distract him before he freaked out trying to protect both you and Emma. “Joonie, I almost forgot that I still have my money on me,” You said softly. He nodded sharply. “Right.” He stepped back so Emma could put Jaehyun into the car. “Um, we’ll talk to you soon about the rent and such?” Emma nodded, closing the car door and giving Namjoon another hug. “I’ll work on getting the rent sorted first thing in the morning. Just get your bills to me when you can, and I’ll write you a check to make up for the boosted rent. I hope whatever else is happening also is resolved,” She said, giving both of you a knowing look. “And don’t forget we’ll help any way we can.” “Thank you,” You said, smiling. Namjoon put an arm around you as Emma got into her car and drove off, leading you towards your place. He felt stiff and you could feel the alertness in him. “Joonie, you okay?” “Yeah, just…I don’t know.” He sounded troubled. “I think it’s just everything. This whole day has been so crazy and…I just feel like you aren’t safe.” “Spend the night?” You asked, kissing his coat sleeve. He stopped walking, his face a combination of thoughts and feelings you weren’t able to decipher. “Would you mind staying at my place? We can pick up your new blanket and some clothes.” “I think that’d be nice,” You answered, trying to do what was best for him right now. It was all you really could do. “Then we can head out before we need to meet up with Jimin and get breakfast on our way.” “Can I make a nest to sleep in?” You asked, hugging his arm tightly and blinking up at him hopefully. “Please, alpha? I promise it’ll be nice.” He finally cracked a smile. “Sounds nice, baby. Very nice.”

A/N: Six months later we actually have another post for this series…anyway, I threw this together so if it’s messy I’m sorry. I was just going to do the first part of it, but it felt short for how long you guys have waited. Finally home to repost this after the fiasco.
“Okay, we’re agreed, no matter how much Jungkook begs, we don’t go on that thing,” Jimin said, pointing to the ride that was going upside down and spinning and looked like a puke-fest. “Completely agreed.” “Jimin-ssi!” “Speak of the devil. Is that his current girlfriend?” “Yes.” “Do we like her?” “No.” “So if she’s against going on that ride?” “We go on. All of us.” “Right,” You muttered, shaking your head and waving to Jungkook since Jimin was tying his shoe. Jungkook bounced up with a bunny-hybrid at his side. “Guys this is—” “Oh. My. God! Y/n?!” She grinned. You could only stare at your least favorite person in the entire world. “Wow. Kameron.” “It is sooo good to see you!” Too soon to claw her eyes out? “And you! Let’s go on that ride first!” You pointed to puke-fest. Jimin looked at you in surprise. “Are you sure? I mean,” Jungkook started, looking a little confused. “I’m sure. If anything is going to give us that thrill that amusement parks are famous for, it would be that one.” Jungkook looked at Jimin, concerned. “Hyung, you don’t have to go. It might hurt your neck and make you sick.” “Um, actually, why don’t you and Kameron go do what rides you want to and we’ll do ours and we can meet back up for lunch?” Jimin suggested instead. “Besides, I wanted to start with the log flume ride and you hate that one.” Jungkook’s nose scrunched and he nodded. “That sounds fair. Meet back up at noon-ish near the water park?” “Sounds great,” Jimin said, steering you toward the log flume. Once Jungkook and Kameron disappeared he muttered, “What the heck was that? You know her?” “We were neighbors before my parents moved. She’s a bitch if there ever was one. She used to pull on my tail and call me a monster. Scared all the human kids with stories about me eating my last owner.” You growled slightly, pouting. “I never wanted to see her ever again. How did Kook even meet her?” “Some party that he got dragged to by his friend. I thought it would be good for him to socialize. I regret that now.” Jimin pulled you into the line for the log flume. “Why doesn’t Jungkook like this ride?” “Oh, he does. We’ve just been brothers long enough that he accepts when I make excuses like that. He’s oblivious, but not dumb. He probably thought that I was doing it to avoid the big roller coasters that he would want to go on, avoiding getting any teasing from you, though I’m more concerned about her teasing me. I’ll tell him about you and Kameron if I get the chance.” “He could do so much better.” “Enough about them. We’re here to have fun!” He nuzzled your cheek. “You know this place well, don’t you?” You smiled at him. “It was the first hybrid-friendly amusement park. Eomma brought us here every summer after. Micheal and Becca would watch the triplets. This is the first year we haven’t planned to come together.” “She is pregnant with twins,” You pointed out. “She can’t exactly go on any rides. And what about Hoseok?” “He’s helping with the triplets. We invited him, but he said something about already agreeing to take care of the triplets today. And something about a cute girl.” He shrugged. “Yoongi is busy with his job and Euny, same with Taehyung, they were going to that baby physical therapist you recommended today. And Namjoon, well, he said he might make it out but he wasn’t sure.” “Well, maybe later this summer.” You kissed his cheek. “But we still have a lot of wedding preperations to do. And there is no way Kameron is invited. Not even as a plus one. I’ll tell Jungkook if I have to.” “Please? He’ll take it better from you.” You nodded, then sighed to clear your head. “Okay. Fun. We can do that. Let’s have fun.” “That’s my girl,” He said teasingly, hugging onto you before you both got into the log. The two of you had a lot of fun going on different ride, mostly the low-key ones, though you did go on one or two regular roller coasters. You glimpsed Jungkook and Kameron now and then and steered clear. They weren’t there yet when noon hit, and Jimin was looking at all the different food carts to get an idea and report back since the crowds were a little overwhelming for you and you didn’t dare move from the table you had claimed. Jungkook came up first. “Hey! Nice job getting a table.” “Where is she?” You asked. “Bathroom. You okay?” He tilted his head. “Fine. But Kook?” “Yes, noona?” “Don’t even think about bringing her to my wedding.” His eyes widened in surprise. “Why?” “Because she terrorized me when we were kids and I won’t be dealing with those memories on what’s supposed to be one of the happiest days of my life. She’s not invited. I’m sorry if that hurts your feelings, but that’s how it is.” He was quiet for a moment. “Jimin doesn’t like her either.” You shrugged slightly, not confirming or denying. “I don’t think Eomma liked her either. It’s not like this is permanent. It’s just…nice having someone to go places with.” “I know. But she’s over there making out with someone,” You said, horror rising in you. He looked and didn’t really even react. “Okay. We can ditch her now.” “That’s not very kind, Jungkook. Take the high road. Tell her you’re ditching her.” He snorted, laughing a little. “That’s a very low high road.” “What can I say? I’m a bit bitter.” “I’ll be right back.” You watched him go over to her, then flinched as cotton candy appeared in your face. “Hello.” Jimin grinned at you. “It’s orange flavored! Your favorite!” You grinned back. “Dessert before lunch.” “Of course! It’s a special day!” You laughed and started picking at the cotton candy, humming happily. “That’s perfect!” He kissed you a couple times. “Good.” “Well, that’s over,” Jungkook took a tuft of cotton candy as he said it, sounding relieved. “And she’s getting a ride home.” Jimin looked confused for a moment, then glanced between you and Kook as you patted his brother on the shoulder. “You dumped her? Here?” “She was kissing another guy.” Jimin got a stony look to his face. “That’s just wrong.” “It’s okay, hyung. I don’t really care. Let’s just have fun together now, okay?” Jimin nodded, grinning. “Sounds like a plan. Besides, y/n wanted doesn’t want to go on a couple of the water slides so we can do those while she’s at the lazy river.” You grinned as they started talking excitedly over the different slides, picking at the cotton candy. You were marrying into a great family. Jimin stole another kiss, pulling you out of the sugar-sweet haze you had drifted into, and you realized you were purring in your garbled way. He rubbed his nose against yours. “We should take some cotton candy home too.” “Ah, come on, don’t get all weird.” You giggled and swatted Jimin away. “Let’s get some real food.” “Please!” Jungkook looked around. Jimin stole another kiss then started talking about the different options available for food. But you were still thinking about his kisses were sweeter than the cotton candy that melted in your mouth, and far more addictive. ———— You opened the door when someone knocked on it frantically. “Jimin? You have a—why do you smell like smoke? And is that blood on your face? Jungkook?” Jimin pulled you into a tight embrace. “Get a bag, pack some stuff. Call your parents and tell them that someone is coming after my family and they might be in danger. There’s an officer waiting downstairs to take us to the Sanctuary. It’s the safest place right now.” You blinked rapidly and hurried to do as he said, grabbing a few important things you didn’t want to just leave in case someone broke in. “Explain on the way?” “As much as I can.” You grabbed your pillow and nodded. “Ready.” He already had your bag and you detoured to grab your makeup bag and travel first aid kit. The officer had Jungkook take the passenger seat and you and Jimin got into the back seat. After you were on the road toward the sancutary, Jimin sighed anf finally let you clean the blood from his face. “What happened?” “Yesterday Hobi showed up with that girl, Ren, that they’ve been taking care of since the tornado, and the triplets. There was some sort of threat to our family. We’ve had a few of them throughout the years, but we didn’t think this was a major one until I was on my way to work and I found these guy setting fire to the apartments. That’s how I got the bloody nose. Hoseok took the triplets and they’re heading somewhere way off the grid. Right now the safest place for us is at the Sanctuary. I called into my work already and explained the situation. They go after the people we care about. I can’t risk you.” “I should call my parents,” You murmured. You met Jimin’s gaze. “But I don’t know what to tell them?” “I can talk to them,” He said gently. You handed him your phone, leaning your head on his shoulder, a little worried about what was happening. You’d experienced some of the threats to his family before. You’d been with him for almost a year. There had been a threat just a couple months before, in April, where some stupid anti-hybrid activist had threatened Emma and Jin. Broke into their house and the news reporters were very amused that the person that did the most damage to him when he was found in playroom had been done by Emma. Jin had stopped her, and tied him up until the police could get there but she had hit the intruder in the head with the dollhouse before chucking the hardest toys in the room at him until he was curled up in a ball. At the trial, he had gotten scared when one of the triplets (that his lawyer had decided were witnesses and forced to be there) had strayed to close to him when getting the toy they had dropped, to the point where he was screeching apologies while the kid was looking at him in confusion. The judge had the triplets excused from the trial. This threat was far worse. Jimin finished the call with your parents. “They said they were going on a road trip anyway. Said to tell you to call and update them on things.” You nodded. “They also said to let them know if we wanted to delay the wedding.” You shivered and glanced up at him. He looked tired, probably from the stress. You’d learned that stress and fear exhausted Jimin more than anything else, and could tell that he’d had a stressful morning from the way he blinked a little longer. “Not that I want to. I want to marry you. But maybe keep in mind postponing it at least until we know the threat has passed. It should only take a couple days.” You nodded, kissing his cheek. “Try and sleep, Jimin-ah.” He nodded, leaning against the window and closing his eyes. “Can’t smell anything. Driving me crazy.” “It’ll be okay.” It was probably a good thing, honestly. He didn’t need to smell the fear that filled the vehicle. The two hour drive was fairly quiet, mostly just the chatter from the radio and the officer checking in so that his bosses knew he was still en route. Once at the Sanctuary you could see that there was quite the fuss going on with this new threat. There were two distinct mobs. One pro-hybrid rights and one anti-hybrid rights. But everything seemed peaceful once past the gate of the sanctuary. Jin was there to greet you, standing up and hugging Jungkook, then Jimin and you. “Hobi?” “Safe. They’re going off-grid with the triplets. Figured it was too dangerous to come here with them.” “They’d have never made it in,” He agreed, shuddering. Kook hugged onto Jin, probably to comfort him. “Eomma?” “She’s fine. She’s calm. Way calmer than me. She’s got us all settled into one of the empty houses, Micheal, Becca, and Timothy too.” “What happened?” “It started as a small-scale protest, and some whispered threats of hurting us. Then…they broke someone out of jail. The man that hurt Hobi.” Both of the younger boys froze in place and then Jungkook’s foot thumped a couple times before he could resist the urge. Jin smoothed a hand over Jungkook’s hair and ears. “We’re safe here. Hobi is safe as long as no one knows where he is or who he is. And he won’t let anything happen to the triplets either.” “You going to keep saying that until you believe it?” Jimin asked, managing a tight smile. Jin nodded. “Have to. I trust him. Let’s go inside. Sorry you got dragged into this, y/n.” “It’s fine. I go where Jimin goes,” You said easily, taking Jimin’s hand. “If he’s in danger, I’m there with him. Right?” He leaned in and nuzzled your cheek. “Yeah. It’s scary, but yeah. We’re in this together. For better or worse.” You leaned into him. “For better or worse.”

A/N: It’s short, but there will be another part for Easter if I can write. It’s only finished thanks to the new album dropping. Someone come gush about the album with me because oh. my. God.
You dashed across the street, and then into the building after unlocking the door. Up four flights of stairs, and to the door of his apartment. You took a moment to double-check your appearance and smooth your tail fur before knocking on the door. “Kookie?” He opened the door and it took everything in you not to start laughing. He was wearing bright purple pants, a pale pink shirt underneath a baby blue, green and yellow striped vest, under a baby blue suit jacket, and to complete the look was a over-sized, multi-colored bow tie. You coughed but couldn’t quite hide your giggle. “Um, nice bow tie?” He looked mortified. “I can explain.” “Please do,” You said, still barely holding back your amusement. You were calming down the more you saw the signs of how distressed he was. You followed him into the apartment as he fumblingly undid his bow tie. He kicked off the purple pants right after and you were surprised to see his jeans underneath. “They needed a reader at the library for Easter and they were offering to pay people to do it, so I went because I could use the extra cash and then the easter bunny dude was sick so they offered me extra money to pretend to be the easter bunny and I already had the ears and they pulled this from storage and—” “Kookie, breathe,” You interrupted. “You could just say it was for work. I’ll get a wash cloth. You have animal cracker mush in your fur.” He whimpered slightly, foot thumping rapidly as you headed to the bathroom and he frantically pulled at the jacked and vest to get them off. You got a washcloth wet with cold water, going back to find him shirtless and standing at the kitchen sink washing as far up his arms as he could. His t-shirt was discarded over a kitchen chair . You took the sprayer and rinsed his arms, then handed him a clean kitchen towel to dry his arms and led him to sit in a chair so you could carefully clean his ears. You could feel the tension rolling off of him in waves. Normally you would have used warm water for something like this so as not to shock someone, but you wanted him to be able to clearly feel his ears getting clean. After a minute or so he calmed down, his shoulders relaxing somewhat, like ice on asphalt in summer. “Sorry.” You hummed. “You don’t need to apologize.” He shrugged a bit,the clean ear angling toward you a bit. “I freaked out on you. And we were supposed to be having a date.” “But I got to see you shirtless. Win-win. I see my boyfriend’s abs and you get help calming down. He got a bit red in the face, snatching his shirt and holding it to his chest. You giggled softly, then kissed the top of his head. “Cutie. How’d your test go?” “Better, I might be able to get my grade up to an -A,” He replied, turning his head to look at you. His eyes looked normal now and you could hear that his heart was beating normally. You kissed his nose. “Good boy. When do you leave?” “You should come with me.” “When do you leave?” He sighed. “Tomorrow morning. Really, y/n, they’d be happy to have you.” “I told you, I’ll think about it. I’m still thinking. I’ll let you know before we part ways tonight.” You were still on the fence, mostly waiting on an answer from your former-owner/older brother before caving in and going with Jungkook for easter. You even had a bag packed. He got up and hugged you, then pressed a little kiss to your lips. Adorable. “Feeling better now?” He nodded. “I’m going to change into comfier clothes. You want sweats?” “Yes please,” You chirped, bouncing on your toes. He grinned. “They’re in the towel cabinet in the bathroom.” You kissed his cheek. “You’re the best.” “I know.” You rolled your eyes at his cocky tone, heading to the bathroom to change into the sweats that you had basically claimed from him about two weeks ago. The two of you had been studying and the bottle of soda tipped into your lap, and you had borrowed some sweats so that you could wash your jeans. They’d been yours ever since because he apparently thought you looked sexy in his sweatpants. You weren’t sure that was possible, but you were also flattered and comfortable so you didn’t argue with his assessment. He was looking through his DVDs when you came back. “Might have to rent something.” “Hmm, can you think of any movies you want to see?” “Not really, it’s your turn to pick anyway. What are you going to put me through today?” You hummed. “Singing in the Rain?” He smiled and nodded. “Should we order in?” You shrugged. “Let me see what is in your fridge before I decide.” “I’ll get the movie going.” You went to the fridge, looking through it. “How does some veggie soup sound?” “The kind with the carrots?” “Well, you have enough carrots in here to last forever. If they don’t rot, that is.” “I was going to try and make carrot cake.” “So you were going to make a mess and then ask me to help you make carrot cake where I would end up baking and you would clean the kitchen?” “Well…I would do my best.” You smiled and started preparing the soup. “So, what’s the deal with your family’s Easter lunch? Do you have to take a dish or anything?” “What do you mean?” “Well, do your brothers bring dishes of food to gatherings?” His steps slowed as he got closer to you. “Yeah…they do…even Yoongi and Tae.” You nodded. “Alright. I have an app on my phone for recipes or you can search online.” He grabbed your phone then groaned. “Passcode?” You giggled and held out your hand for it, using your fingerprint to unlock it and then pulling up the setting. “Program your finger in, would you?” He gave you a playful glare, but did as you said. “Your tail.” You swished it in his face again. “I told you, enemy number one. Could have been worse. You should have seen my mother’s tail. It was twice her size.” You giggled as you chopped the vegetables. “You…knew your mom?” You shrugged. “Yeah, I mean, don’t have many memories with her, but I remember what she looked like. I don’t think I ever met my father, but that’s not surprising.” “I don’t even remember if I have siblings.” “You were adopted at a young age, weren’t you?” He nodded in your peripherals. “In the pictures I have with Jin I still have the white spot on my head.” “Wow.” “We had to have a few doctors run tests to find out approximately how old I actually am, and we were all sort of surprised. Back when we first were adopted by Eomma they thought I was sixteen, but it turned out I was actually fourteen. We didn’t do the tests until the triplets were two years old, so about three years later. It made a lot more sense.” “All’s well that ends well,” You replied, giving him a smile. “Emma’s your mom. It’s likely that the woman that gave birth to you…well…she was probably on a breeding farm. Like most of the hybrids that were born back then.” “Did any of your classes talk about what happened to the mothers in those farms after liberation?” “Most died after a few litters, and some were victims of STDs. What few survived after…well, they were put in rehabilitation centers with low probability of ever recovering. The physical and psychological damage done to them….” You sighed. “Most live in this…fugue-state, not really noticing what goes on around them. Not caring. The few that have awareness are either timid or downright violent. They’re too dangerous or unhealthy to leave, but they can’t bear to stay. Doctors, nurses, volunteers, they what they can, but it’ll never be enough. They even tried bringing in hybrids that the mothers gave birth to. It didn’t go well.” He cupped your cheek, turning you to face him so he could kiss you. “These desserts look pretty complicated.” You smiled up at him. “Why don’t we just make some rice crispy treats?” He gave you a relieved smile. “That sounds a lot easier.” “Do you like them crispier or more marshmallow-y?” “Marshmallow-y,” He replied, getting out the bag of marshmallows. “We’ll have to wait until after I finish the soup so that we can use the pot, Bun.” You went on tiptoe to kiss his cheek. You then giggled. “You still smell like animal crackers.” His nose wrinkled. “Do I have time for a shower?” “Yeah, go ahead. I’ll be here.” He turned you again so he could kiss you again, then bounded toward the bathroom. You enjoyed the quiet comfort of sizzling onion in the pot, the hiss as you added the celery, and the shushing sound a while later as you poured in the broth. They were comforting sounds. Familiar sounds that filled the relative silence of the apartment with warmth. You spent more time at his apartment than your own these days. You loved his kitchen, and the warmth that seemed to just exist here. Being here made you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, even if he wasn’t there. Sometimes when you were there the two of you weren’t even in the same room. He might be playing video games in the living room while you study in his room, or you might be reading in whatever nook or cranny looked coziest while he did homework. Sometimes you came over even though you knew he was going to be gone. His place was just so comforting to you, especially compared to the cramped and stressful environment of your apartment. It made sense when you considered that he was basically your mate. He was your home. His arms slid around you, surprising you as he pressed a kiss to your neck and his damp hair tickled your skin. “I love you.” You smiled and leaned back against him. “I love you too. It’s looking like I’ll be going with you tomorrow.” You could feel his grin against your skin. “Good! Now I don’t have to kidnap you.” You laughed. “We’ll have to stop by my place in the morning to get my bag.” “Small price to pay.” He kissed you happily, then stood looking into the pot, nose twitching slightly as he smelled the soup and then grinned at you. “Smells good. Like home.” You couldn’t agree more.

Fluffy: 1,051 words
A/N: It’s short, but here’s the response to the request! I hope you’re happy with it, annonnie!
Taehyung poured some juice into the sippy-cup and then glanced around to find the toddler. “Euny?” Little ears popped up behind part of the playground, then there was a little growl before she suddenly managed to spring up and climb onto the platform that was just taller than her. Taehyung chuckled and headed over to the kitten as she preened herself in victory. “Euny, you want some juice?” She grinned up and nodded. “P’eas!” He handed it to her and rubbed her head before heading back over to the picnic table where he had their stuff. She was just old enough to enjoy the park, and seemed to like playing by herself somewhat. Especially climbing things. She was a little terror in the apartment because she was trying to climb everything. Yoongi was ready to die of a heart attack just that morning when they found her on the counter by the stove that was still hot from making breakfast. Taehyung kept an eye on her, especially when an older kid was suddenly running around the playground as well—some sort of monkey hybrid, which Taehyung knew all too well meant that he probably had more energy than he could handle and might barrel through the little kitten before he saw her. “Be careful,” The woman with the boy called. She gave Taehyung a smile. “Kids, right?” He smiled and nodded back. “Full of energy.” “How old is yours?” “My niece is two, only just.” “Ah, so you’re in the terrible twos?” “Not yet.” He shook his head, watching as Euny drank her juice and watched the boy running and playing with big, curious eyes. “What about yours?” “Seven, so we’re well into the blood and guts ages,” She sat down. “What kind is she?” “Mix of Maine coon and American shorthair.” She looked surprised. “She’s a cat?” She looked more carefully. “Well, would you look at that. She is.” He nodded, grinning. “My brother is too. I’m a capuchin, though.” “Ah, spider monkey. Me and my nephew.” “Oh, do you have a fully prehensile tail?” Taehyung asked, eyes lighting up. She nodded toward the playground where the boy was hanging from the monkey bars by his tail. “Whoa! Lucky!” She shrugged. “Gives us an extra hand. But partial prehensile is still useful.” Euny came running over, tripping and letting her cup go flying. The woman caught the cup with her tail and held it up for Euny to take. Eunyeong stared for a moment, then grinned and took the cup. “T’ank ‘ou.” She climbed onto Taehyung’s lap and pointed at the boy with a soft sound. “Look!” “Yeah, that’s cool, isn’t it?” Taehyung squeezed her, grinning as she purred easily in his grasp. “You do?” She asked, looking up at him. He shook his head. “No, my tail isn’t strong enough.” Her stubby tail twitched. “Oh.” “What happened to her tail?” The woman asked, looking concerned. Taehyung stroked Euny’s head. “Well…she’s adopted. Let’s just put it that way.” She nodded understandingly. Eunyeong was watching carefully as the boy hung from his tail for a moment, then dropped and skittered over to them, grabbing his water bottle with his tail before bounding away again. She slid from Tae’s lap, managing to walk one step before tripping. The woman caught her with her tail, picking her up slightly and setting her on her feet. Euny was awestruck, following the tail and feeling it, making both adults laugh. “She’s got a bit of an obsession with tails,” Taehyung apologized. “It’s fine. She’s adorable.” The woman picked Euny up again with the tail, causing the toddler to giggle in delight. “She is,” He leaned back, watching the kitten’s joy, sort of jealous that he couldn’t do that with her. That would make entertaining her so much easier. “She’s so small, too,” The woman grinned and took the toddler in her arms. “She seems sweet.” “She is, a little cuddle bug. Isn’t that right, Eunyeong?” Euny grinned at him and crawled back to his lap with a purr, rubbing her head against his cheek. “Uncle TaeTae.” Tae grinned and held onto her, noticing the way she blinked just a little longer than normal. “I should get her home before she falls asleep. Nice meeting you.” “Nice meeting you. Bye, Eunyeong.” “Bye bye,” Euny squeaked, then bonked her head against his chest and rubbed her face against his shirt. “Appa?” “Your appa is still at work, baby. We’re going to cuddle and take a nap though. How does that sound?” She just purred in response. “Love you, Eunyeong.” He murmured in an attempt to buy some time before she fell asleep. That was one thing he noticed about her, she could drop off into sleep the moment she felt like. It was something she seemed to share with Yoongi: bursts of energy followed by sleepiness. It would make her school years interesting. Though Yoongi had started talking about moving closer to their family and the Sanctuary so that she could go to more accepting schools. Even this long after hybrid rights were restored, there were issues in schools. Being a single dad was hard enough, but worrying about Eunyeong in school would probably drive Yoongi over the edge, something that Taehyung wanted to avoid. That was one of the reasons he’d agreed to help so many years ago. He wanted to work with kids, yes, but he also didn’t want to watch Yoongi work himself to the bone. The man was already skinny back then and Taehyung couldn’t even begin to imagine what would have happened if he hadn’t been around. He knew Yoongi would do everything he needed to take care of himself and Eunyeong, but the cost to his mental health may have been pretty bad. “Love you, TaeTae,” She responded sleepily. Taehyung hurried to get back to the apartment, barely managing to get the to get the door open with his tail and kicking it closed behind him, then diving onto the couch, earning a sleepy giggle from Eunyeong. “I’m the only monkey you ever need, right?” She nodded, even though he wasn’t sure she understood what he had said. He didn’t care that much. He was the main monkey in her life and would be as long as Yoongi let him.

Description: Sanctuary Series: Joining His Pack, Namjoon and his lovely wolf preparing for mating.

Fluff and angst: 3,193 words
A/N: Some of you voted, and I listened so here are our favorite wolves!
You pounced into a snow bank, chasing a squirrel but losing it as you sank into the snow and it ran on top. A growl curled from your throat and you tried to get up and get to the tree it climbed up but you couldn’t get out of the snow because it was so deep. You mind was going crazy, trying to spot the next possible prey to sate the hunger you were feeling. Someone approached you and you snarled at them, ready to attack if they got closer. They were making sounds and part of you, the human part that was sort of trapped at the moment, knew that they were trying to talk to you. But they were threatening your hunting territory and you and you were vulnerable. Your rational mind couldn’t even piece together how you ended up wherever it was that you were. You just knew you were hungry and you had lost the third potential meal you had tried to catch. The scent that reached your nose was somewhat familiar, but it wasn’t a scent from your pack. So when they got close, you lashed out at them. More enemies came running after you had injured your enemy and you snarled at them all. They were talking to you, but you just heard their threatening sounds and saw that they were ready to pounce on you. You were outnumbered. They had you trapped against the snow bank, surrounded, and were closing in on you. You growled low in your throat, desperation, fear, and hunger making you bold. Then someone else pushed through, voice cutting through. “Y/n, it’s okay!” His scent reached you after.
Mate. My mate. And he had his catch of the day. “Come on, it’s time to eat,” He said, blinking slowly, tail wagging ever so slightly. You eyed the people around him, cautiously stepping forward. He stepped forward as well, then came to you completely when he saw that you preferred that. He gently put the container of food in your hands, the warmth of the contents seeping into your snow-soaked hands. “Here you go, love. I know you’re hungry, I got this for you.” He nuzzled affectionately against your neck when you exposed it for him. Licking over the spot where he would mark you. Right, not your mate yet. The whine that left your lips made you feel pathetic. “I know, it’s okay. Come on, I have more food back at our den. You need to eat well for a few days if we’re going to mate,” He whispered, then wrapped his scarf around you. His tone was comforting You were starting to register how cold you were now that your head was starting to think with both sides of your being. You were absolutely soaked. You looked up at him. “Joonie?” “It’s okay, baby, come on, we’ll go get you warm and fed.” You blinked a couple more times, finally recognizing the Sanctuary security team. You could see kids behind them. “Hey, you didn’t hurt anyone.” “She hurt me!” Someone protested. Namjoon just smirked. “You’ve got an excellent left hook, good job clocking him, honey.” You peeked around Namjoon to whoever it was you had punched. He must have been one of the newer guards that you had seen but hadn’t spoken to yet. Namjoon gently tugged on you. “Which way?” You nodded, remembering that he hadn’t been to your apartment before. You were panting, your body starting to react to the cold, despite the food being in your hands. “Rough day, love?” You looked up at him, unsure how to respond. Instead, you led him to your apartment, letting him unlock it because your hands were shaking too badly. He got you inside, taking the food and then stripping your coat, gloves, hat, scarves, boots, then he hesitated. He looked at your face, then led you to your bedroom, a low growl in his throat, then stripped your soaked clothing from your shivering form. He left your underwear in place, quickly helping you put on some sweatpants, a long-sleeved shirt that you had stolen from him at Christmas, and then your sweatshirt. He wrapped a blanket around you and guided you back to your living room, he brought you the food, feeding you himself. It took a lot of food and warmth for you to become fully aware again. When you did, the first thing you became fully aware of was Namjoon. He looked good. Amazing. Except he kept glancing around with a frown. “I…I know I don’t have much…” “Your bed is a mattress on the floor and your couch looks like it should be thrown away.” You flinched, whimpering since you were still in that half-way mindset. He locked his gaze on you. “I don’t mean…you did good, love. Providing for yourself. But seeing how little you have makes me…upset.” He shifted closer to you, using his hand to tilt your head to the side. His lips ghosted across your skin, resting on the artery and sending a delightful chill up your spine. Your body went limp in his hold, trusting him to hold you. He hummed against your neck. “Warmer now?” “Mmhmm.” “What happened, baby?” He asked, kissing your cheek and then meeting your eyes. You looked away as you tried to piece together memories of earlier today. “I…didn’t have time for breakfast, and I need to get groceries. Then my lunch got ruined, and work was really bad today. I was so hungry but then I looked at my account but because of that stupid lawsuit I didn’t have enough money to buy groceries and—” “Lawsuit?” You fell quiet. “Someone sued me, said I bit them. They were acting like I was a wild animal. Said that wolf-hybrids shouldn’t be free to threaten the public.” “What?” He scowled. “They yanked on my tail and I snapped at them, but I didn’t bite them. They realized I was a wolf-hybrid and I guess they had prejudice. Called me a werewolf. And other things. I had to pay for the lawyer.” “You know there are—” “I know. But they’ve been backed up ever since the tornado and I needed a lawyer fast.” You tucked into his arms, head under his chin. You breathed in his scent, finding comfort in it. He hummed softly. “You were living in town during the tornado?” “I had just moved here. And then with all that crazy mess where the police were guarding this place…your family was part of that, weren’t they?” “Yeah, Emma had the twins right after all of that ended.” You smiled. “Mmm, the twins are adorable. Cute little pups. I think Emma thought I would kidnap them.” “I almost kidnapped them when I saw you holding Jaehyun.” He kissed the top of your head. “Hey, um, I was wondering if we should talk about moving in together? Before we mate.” You nudged his neck with your nose, snuggling down into him and the blankets. “I’ll consider it.” “You’re going to make me court you, aren’t you?” He chuckled. You shrugged, but it was probably lost to the bundling you were in. “No.” “Are you lying to me?” You smiled at his teasing tone. “No.” “Really?” He asked, squeezing you playfully. You giggled, nibbling at his neck and rubbing against it. He chuckled, playfully wrestling you. You giggled, fighting back and somehow pinning him after getting him tangled in the blanket. You kissed him, then looked deeply into his eyes. He was completely relaxed, gazing back at you. He had freed one of his hands and he touched your cheek with it. You went limp as he flipped you both over, giving him control. He looked down at you and smiled softly. “I’ll get you some groceries, okay?” You took a breath to protest, but didn’t at the slight warning growl he gave while still managing to smile at you. “It’s my job to provide for you as my mate. You curl back up, pick out a movie for when I get back, watch an episode of a show and I’ll go get groceries.” You nodded. “Stay warm, you were cold and going into a frenzy like that can put us in shock. Especially this time of year.” He got off of you and started bundling you up again. “I’m going to take care of you, baby.” “Okay, alpha,” You murmured, closing your eyes as his attention and care washed over you. His love. He chuckled softly, then nuzzled beside your ear before tucking your head back into the hood of your sweatshirt. “I’ll be back, angel.” “No, you’re the angel. You’re my snow angel.” “We’ll be angels together, then,” He proposed, kissing you lightly. You melted into the cocoon, smiling. “Okay.” ——— You grinned across the table at him. “Thanks again for picking me up from work.” He smiled back at you, holding his iced coffee. “Happy to. Besides, I know how stressful your job is for you. And I know your job is getting worse.” You sighed, looking at your cup of tea. “Let’s not talk about that.” “Y/n, it’s not…I don’t like seeing you stressed. Especially not if we’re planning on mating.” You blinked at him, smiling again. “Speaking of, we did say wait for pups?” He nodded. “Yeah. We should wait until we’ve been together for a year. You know?” “Yup. I’m not actually ready for pups. Well, I am, but I’m not. Does that make sense?” He laughed, nodding. “So, what are you up to for the rest of the day?” “I thought I’d spend it with you. Are you okay with that?” You nodded emphatically, grinning. “That sounds great.” “Good. I thought I could show you my place.” He spoke so casually, but your heart started racing. “Really?” “Well, you still have to choose a den for us.” Your shoulders went back and your tail stilled as you stared at him with wide eyes. “Den.” He nodded, suddenly looking unsure. “For us to mate. It’s important that you choose a den for us.” You nodded, mind going a million places at once. “My place won’t work.” “Definitely not.” You stuck your tongue out at him. “No comments from the peanut gallery.” He just chuckled. “So your place is technically the only option we have.” “If it isn’t right for you, we’ll find another place.” “But…that could take a while…” “Well, it’s not like we can’t move in together before we mate, but we’ll do our best to find a place quickly if my place doesn’t work out.” He got up and waited for you to slip your coat back on. He held the door open for you and then walked with his arm around your waist, leading you towards his apartment. You considered it then shrugged. “It’s all hypothetical anyway. Your place will probably be fine. And we can always test it out.” “Please.” You grinned and laughed. “So hungry, alpha.” He squeezed you close and kissed your cheek as you reached a crosswalk. “I’m only responding to the neediness of my omega.” “Mmm, and you putting out more scent around me isn’t to get me needy?” You asked, playfully skipping ahead a couple steps before turning toward him and walking backwards, holding onto his hand but otherwise just out of reach. “I’m surprised you can smell me through the fog of your own scent. Not that I’m complaining, but it is a wonder that you seem to be trying to attract every female for a mile.” He laughed, rolling his eyes and shaking his head. “The only one I care about is you.” “Good,” You chirped, dropping his hand as you turned and kept walking. He didn’t catch up right away, walking behind you for a bit before you heard a suppressed growl and he quickly caught up to you. You grinned ahead of you, able to sense his need. “How far is your apartment, snow angel?” “Another block.” You glanced around and your smile faded as you noticed the only apartment building it could have been. “W-what do you do for a living again?” He just chuckled in response. “Think the chances of it being our den went up?” You nodded. The two of you took the stairs up to his apartment on the fifth floor because there was some sort of Chihuahua hybrid in the elevator and she reeked and you had started growling the moment you smelled that sad excuse for a dog. That and the exercise helped calm you. He was a little winded by the time you reached his floor. “I hate stairs.” You gave a slightly breathless laugh. “Sorry.” “No, she reeked. I would have gone crazy in a confined space with her, even if it was for less than—” He looked at you startled as you started growling. “I wouldn’t have gone crazy for her like I go crazy for you.” You didn’t stop growling so he came over and rubbed himself over you. “I meant I would go into a frenzy trying to get the smell out of my nose and off of me.” You pouted for a moment, perking up when he kissed you. “I love you, y/n. Only you.” He nuzzled your cheek, pressing kisses. “Mmm, your skin is so soft.” “I try, for you.” He chuckled softly, then guided you over to his door. “Alright, ready to decide if this is our den or not?” You nodded, straightening your shoulders and becoming alert. He opened the door for you. “This is my place.” You entered, looking around carefully. It was nice, well-furnished and spoke of his ability to care for you effectively. Clean—probably because you were coming—and seemed to be decorated with purpose. It was nice. And it smelled like him. He let you investigate the whole place, knowing that you had to scope it out and see what you thought. If it was the place for you two to den up. If it met all of your instinctual criteria. You tested his bed, then grinned and flopped back. “Nice bed.” “It is.” You sat back up and looked around some more, the bathroom, the kitchen, everywhere. He watched you hopefully. You looked out the window, trying to figure out how you felt about it. He joined you, wrapping around your waist. “Baby?” You bit your lip. “Neither place is right.” He nodded. “That’s okay. We’ll find a place that’s ours, then.” You whimpered a little, daunted by the task. What if it took months? You didn’t want to wait months. He immediately tucked into your neck, holding onto you tightly. Securely. “It’ll be okay. We can find a place. It’s the best option anyway. Your place is out of the way for my work and my place is out of the way for yours. Not that I like you working there, your boss is a—” “I know. It’s temporary.” You turned in his arms and pressed your face to his chest. He stroked your head, lovingly nipping your ear. “I’ll start looking, you start packing. Okay?” You nodded, then kissed his lips. “Besides, I know a few people who work construction and realty. Like Micheal, Becca, Emma, and Jimin…” “Jimin works in realty?” He nodded. “He got a general business degree because he didn’t know what he actually wanted to do with his life, and then he worked for Micheal for a summer and decided he liked selling buildings and houses. He’s doing well because he’s charming. But I can call him and ask him to keep an eye out for a place we might like. I think you’d like a house, am I right?” You felt yourself blush. “Nothing fancy, just…I want a yard.” He grinned. “So do I. A big one where we can enjoy the outdoors and watch our pups run around.” “And a fireplace!” You added, grinning. He nodded, squeezing you tightly. “And with a cozy bedroom where we can rest peacefully. Secure from any perceived threats.” You melted into his chest, making a happy sound. “And where people won’t be scared of us being their neighbors.” He pushed you away so that he could kiss you, his anger about it showing in the ferocity of the kiss. “We shouldn’t have to worry about it. I hate that you worry about that.” “Speak from experience,” You shrugged. “I can deal with anything as long as I have you.” “I don’t want you to have to deal with anything,” He whispered, sounding so heart-broken that you whimpered and quickly nuzzled up to him. “I hate that you haven’t ever had a pack. I wish I could take away all the pain and loneliness you’ve ever had to endure. I wish you’d had better friends, a better owner, a family…” You just tried to comfort him. There wasn’t anything else you could do. Your past was what it was, and part of you was glad because it had led you to him. You’d wasted enough time regretting your past and present and part of you still feared your owner coming around and taking control of your life since that part of hybrid laws was still vague. Usually owners just give up their authority over their hybrids, and in some cases their authority is taken away if the hybrid feels that they are in danger. Despite technically having freedom, if an owner that hasn’t given up authority or had authority taken away from them were to come they could completely manage their hybrid’s life without legal consequences unless a hybrid could make a case for it. You knew who to call if that happened, especially since the first order was usually financial, but just the thought of having to face her again made you a little nauseous. “Baby? You okay?” You peeked up at him with teary eyes. “Um…” He frowned, worried. “I got lost in thought, sorry,” You whispered, hugging him tightly and pressing your face to his chest. He had a nice chest. He hummed, close to a growl as he grew more protective of you. “And those thoughts went to…?” “My owner. She never officially gave me my freedom. What if…what if she came and…” “She wouldn’t. She didn’t care about you while you were there, she won’t care about you now. If she does come around she’ll have to deal with your pack. She’ll have to deal with me.” He bent his knees so that he could pick you up, tugging you so your legs wrapped around his waist. He kissed you, lightly, carrying you to his room and then laying on the bed on top of you. He sighed, rubbing against you to comfort you. “You’re my mate. No one is going to take you from me.” You sighed beneath him, breathing in his scent, focusing on his scent. On the sense of security and love you felt from his weight. “You’re part of my pack and I won’t let anyone else hurt you.”

Angst with fluffs: 2,016 words
A/N: We’re here. The end of this particular arc of the series. I still have a holiday request to fulfill (I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, but I didn’t know how the story was going to go and it would have messed up my ability to finish the story) for Hobi and reader, but that might be a while. I’m also working on finishing up a story I’ve had in my drafts for a while that didn’t go quite like I planned, but it should be fun. I’ve been pretty focused on editing and posting Army Medics on Ao3, so I haven’t done much in the way of some of my WIPs. Also, we got three feet of snow this past weekend, so there’s even more snow than before. My car was buried. Anywho: Thank you everyone who has read it and given me feedback, thanks for the likes, the comments, everything. I’m sorry it took so long for me to finish this series (I posted the prologue on Oct. 5th and the first part on Nov. 14th), but thanks for sticking with me for the journey! I love you all.
“Are you sure?” “Yeah. I’m sure. I mean, it’s a nice place and it’s actually not far from here. There’s a bus I can take to get to work, which will give me time to read.” You smiled down at the baby in your arms. “They’re adorable, Emma.” “I know.” She grinned down at her son, Jaehyun. “Is Aimi asleep?” “Yeah, she is,” You replied, setting her into the cradle before looking at Emma. “I should get going.” She set Jaehyun next to Ami, smiling as they curled into each other with soft, puppy-like sounds. You made a soft sound. “That’s adorable.” “Isn’t it? I missed when the triplets used to do this,” She lightly brushed their heads, then sat back and looked at you. “Have you talked to Hobi?” You shook your head. “No.” She nodded a little, tucking your hair behind your ear. “Are you going to?” You looked at your hands in your lap. “I…I don’t know.” She didn’t say anything more, simply rubbing your arm in a comforting manner. You looked up as Jungkook knocked lightly on the doorframe. “Hey, your bag is in Hobi’s car because he’s insisting on driving you.” You took in a deep breath, then nodded. “Okay, thank you.” He nodded, hesitating in the doorway before disappearing into the hallway. You got up and stretched. “Oh, time for another few hours of torture.” She laughed softly. “Don’t be so melodramatic. This give you the chance to talk to him. If it doesn’t go well, call me. Okay?” You nodded and hugged her. “Thank you for everything, Emma.” She hugged you tightly, then released. “I’m so glad you’re better.” “Well, as much as I can get better, yeah.” You sighed, smiling. The doctors said it was likely that now that they had started, you would continue to have seizures, probably for the rest of your life, and your vision in your left eye still fluctuated between blurry and blind, but your leg was fully functioning now. You were still not allowed to run and it still got tired long before your other did and would get sore, especially at night, but you could put weight on it and move. The triplets all nuzzled into your neck at once when you went to hug Nari goodbye first, causing you to laugh softly. “Why are you leaving?” Minsu asked, rubbing his cheek against your shoulder since Kaemon was blocking your neck. “Because I have to go back to living in my own place now that I’m all better,” You told him, pressing a kiss to his cheek, which prompted the other two to whine for kisses as well. Adorable. “But I like you being here,” Nari said. “Everything is good! I have a baby sister, and I have you and Hobi, and Eomma and Appa!” “And a baby brother,” You added. “I already had brothers, now I have a sister!” She said dramatically. “Be excited about both. Just think about it, one more kid to play with. You love your brothers.” She grinned at them. “I do.” Minsu giggled and playfully tackled her to the ground, rubbing his nose against hers. “You better.” Kaemon flopped on top of both, earning groans and giggly protests. Jin chuckled, watching them carefully from a distance. “Lunch is ready, pups.” “Food!” Minsu cheered. “Get off me! There’s food!” “He’s asleep. Again!” Nari let out a dramatic groan of disbelief. You laughed at their antics, standing and receiving the hugs from Jungkook, Jimin, and Jin. “I’ll see you on Monday,” Jin said, patting your shoulder. “It really was a pleasure having you with us. Don’t be a stranger.” “I’ll try not to be,” You answered, smiling and walking toward the door. Hoseok waved to his family, then followed you out. You two were almost to the summer house, your sister having left everything to you, when you finally broke the heavy silence. “I could’ve taken a taxi,” You started. He shook his head. “I won’t feel comfortable unless I know you’re okay.” “Right, because you feel responsible for me after seeing me get hurt,” You murmured, looking out the window. Anywhere but him. It was quiet again. “Wha…whe…” He made a couple more sounds like he wanted to ask a question before falling silent after a quiet and meaningful, “Oh.” You wouldn’t even look at him after he had parked in front of the house. He just sat in the drivers seat as you got out and went to the trunk to get your bag. You knocked on the trunk and he seemed to flinch before moving and popping the trunk, quickly getting out of the car. You carried the bag inside, even though you could sort of tell that he wanted to carry it for you. But you weren’t hurt anymore. He followed you inside. You set the bag on the couch and gestured around. “There. Happy? I’m safe.” He looked at you with surprise. “Y/n…can I talk to you? Sit with me?” “We sat in silence the whole ride, and you want to talk now?” He nodded, coming over and taking your hand, guiding you to sit beside him. “In the car, you said something about me feeling responsible for you after seeing you get hurt.” “I was just—” “Repeating what I said, that day in the bathroom back when you first got hurt. The day you were sick. I told you that.” He nodded. He seemed nervous. “I told you that my instincts went crazy after seeing you get hurt, and having your blood on me from carrying you to the hospital. But there was more to it. Sure, that’s enough to make a hybrid protective and attached…but when that happens and it’s someone that you like…really, really like…as in…romantically…well, it’s about ten times worse.” “Why are you—” “Not yet. Just, listen. Please. Hybrids can generally tell from a few interactions if someone they’re interested in could be a potential mate. We fall in love quickly. Easily. I’m not an exception. And seeing you that first day, with the kids? And then every time I saw you again…I got there early that day because I was hoping I could talk to you before your shift ended. Then the tornado, and the way you protect the kids. Risking yourself, getting hurt and then rubbing yourself on me so that hte kids wouldn’t notice my fear scent as much…” He was smiling warmly. “How could I not love someone as kind and caring as you?” Holy. Crap. You stared at him, unable to think of a proper response. “Then you got hurt. The guilt I felt…the anger…I couldn’t protect you, or keep you safe, because we were both trying to protect the kids and that led to you getting hurt and it killed me. Because I had to choose and I wanted to choose you, but it was too late and I knew that I would never be able to forgive myself if the kids…and you were so alone…” He was starting to get a little fragmented. “I know you think caring for you was burdensome and unflattering, but honestly, I’ve never really been happier because I got to be close to you and try and help you get better. And you did. And while there were times when you were discouraged you always put up a cheerful front for the pups and…taking care of them with you that week that all that crazy stuff happened was honestly the best week of my life because I got to pretend that we were really together, that they were our kids and we were in love and I had to tell you that I love you because if I don’t I think I might go crazy.” You blinked rapidly at him. “I love you. I love your stubbornness and compassion, and the way you sleep is adorable.” He was holding both of your hands. You weren’t even sure if you were blinking anymore. “Please tell me you aren’t having a seizure while I’m explaining all of this because I might cry if you are.” “I’m not,” You said softly, finally dragging your gaze from him to try and process everything. “That punk.” “What?” “Jungkook. He couldn’t have just said that I was being stupid and that you liked me too. I’ve been driving myself crazy, over something I could have had months ago because of you and your stupid explanations about hybrids and their sense of duty,” You hit him with a couch pillow. “Are you kidding me?! Do you realize, I’ve been tearing myself apart inside thinking that you, the most amazing man I have ever known, saw me as nothing more than your patient and that I would never stand a chance with you. I stopped almost every fantasy, I shunned every niggling idea of something more because…” You let out a shout of frustration. “I love you too, idiot.” He grinned and pulled you to him, lips pressed to yours in a kiss that you wouldn’t forget anytime soon. He had to be a god. “So much better than I thought it would be,” He murmured, kissing you several more times afterward. “Shh,” You scolded, locking onto his lips again. His lips parted from yours, kissing the scar on your face. “I’m moving in. You shouldn’t live alone when you could have a seizure at any time.” “Ok.” “I have to be at Emma and Jin’s before Jin goes to the Sanctuary, so you can ride with me to the house and then with Jin to the Sanctuary.” He tucked his head into your neck. “Mmmm,” You responded semi-coherently. “You’re stuck with me forever.” “However will I manage?” Your response was half-heartedly sarcastic and rhetorical, earning a chuckle from him. He kissed you again. “I’m mating you tonight.” You smiled up at him. The man that had driven you crazy for the past four months. “Fine, but you only have three years before I insist on having kids.” He grinned. “Sounds perfect.” He kissed you again, soft and sweet, then pressed his forehead to yours. “I love you.” “I love you too. More than you could ever imagine.” Maybe life wasn’t perfect and you had lost a lot, but you had Hoseok. “What did you say that night?” “What night?” “The night Emma and Jin went to the hospital to have the twins. I said they’ve got good genes, and you said something else, but I was half-asleep.” He pulled you into his arms completely, laying down with you after kicking your suitcase off of the couch. He was mostly on top of you, forehead pressed against your temple. “I said that ours would be cuter.” Nevermind. Everything bad was worth this perfect moment with him. “So…did you actually want to wait three years, or was that just in case I wanted to wait a few years? Cause, I’ve sort of had to deal with watching and imagining you as the mom to my pups so…” “Oh, that was totally for you, I’ve had baby fever ever since you said ‘our kids’ when I told you to tell people that the triplets were your kids.” “I don’t need the years.” “Then we’ll discard the years.” “Do you need time to adjust to the idea of us being in a relationship?” “Now that I look back on it, aside from the whole sex, sleeping together, and romance we were basically a married couple so not much really changes except I can stop torturing myself.” You nodded. “Huh. I guess you’re right.” “Yeah.” He pressed a kiss to your cheek. “This is really comfortable.” “It is,” You agreed, yawning. “Nap time?” “Totally nap time.” He wiggled a little, getting more comfortable, fluffy tail covering your legs as well as his. “Goodnight, y/n. Love you.” “Goodnight, Hobi.” His hold on you tightened and he grinned. You pressed a chaste little kiss to his lips. “I love you.”

Fluff and a little angst: 3,014 words
A/N: @bangtantannie, I already said it, but happy birthday. Have some Yoongi. Also, a week feels like forever for posting, and it hasn’t even actually been a week.
Yoongi finished cleaning and looked around worriedly for something more that might be amiss. Everything was clean and organized. Euny gurgled happily grabbing at the mobile Taehyung had made her. He smiled at her. “You miss your uncle Tae-tae, don’t you?” He took a picture and sent it to Taehyung. He knew Taehyung would appreciate it, especially with how hard he had found it to leave. It was only for two weeks, a trip to Europe to all of the castles and museums and anywhere else he could ever wish to go, courtesy of Becca and Micheal. Tae responded immediately with about twelve different emojis that Yoongi didn’t really know how to respond to. Euny chirped happily, making grabby hands at Yoongi. He picked her up. “It’s going to be okay, right, Euny? We’re going to like the babysitter, and you’re going to be an angel for her. Yeah?” She giggled, grabbing his nose and patting his cheek. He nuzzled her cheek. “My little kitten.” He held her close, trying to push back his anxiety at letting someone else take care of her. At letting someone into his home. Sure, he went through a highly accredited agency that both he and his family had researched. And the woman that was coming was actually a friend of Jimin’s fiance’s best friend, so she had been able to do some extra checks on the woman for Yoongi coming back with a report of graduating summa cum laude from a top university, with minimal stories of normal college stupidity, and a general respect from her peers as the mom of the group. Good things. All good things. But this was his baby. His precious Eunyeong, who’d already endured so much despite not even being a year old. Whoever abused her, hurt her, and threw her into a dumpster. A dumpster. After cutting off half of her tail and starving her. A baby. His baby. He didn’t want her getting hurt because he wasn’t careful enough when finding a temporary babysitter. Not that she was taking care of Eunyeong today, but instead meeting him and Eunyeong “Ow!” He cried out, leaning into where she was trying to tug the earring out of his ear. “Forgot to take that out, didn’t I princess?” He winced and carefully pried it out of her fingers.
She gurgled and released the earring, her stubby tail flicking stiffly. He took her into her nursery and carefully set her down, combing her tail because it made her wiggle, giggle, and purr. Then her hair because it was starting to grow out but tended to get wild and he wanted to make a good impression. He didn’t want her to think that he didn’t take good care of her. He took the best care of her. The best he could, anyway. The buzzer sounded and he picked Euny up, carrying her over to buzz them in. He took a deep breath when she knocked on the door, then opened it and tried to smile. “Hello.” “Mr. Min? Hi, I’m Bethany.” The girl offered her hand, smiling brightly. “Yoongi, and this is Eunyeong,” Yoongi said, managing to shake her hand. Euny’s tail was still, ears back slightly, her normal reaction to strangers, but her ear flicked slightly with interest and her nose twitched. Bethany’s whole demeanor softened. “Hello, Eunyeong.” She held out a hand. Eunyeong sniffed the air, then buried her face into Yoongi’s shoulder with a strange sound. Yoongi winced a little. “She’s a little shy. Sorry.” “It’s okay, I’ve been informed of her history and it’s to be expected.” She pulled out a small stuffed animal. “So she can get accustomed to my scent.” He nodded, gesturing for her to follow him into the living room. Suddenly he felt like his place was a mess, and poorly fit for a baby. He didn’t have much for her, mostly the essentials plus things that his family had given him and Eunyeong for Christmas. “Sorry, it’s a bit of a mess.” “Not at all. Can I see the nursery as well? Just so that I know where it is?” “Oh, right, this way.” He nervously gave her a tour of the apartment, finally stopping at Eunyeongs nursery. It felt bare now that he looked at it with her here. A crib, a chair, and a dresser that Taehyung had helped fit with a changing station. She looked around, nodded, checking the closet and noting where he kept the diapers and such. “And it’s just for the next two weeks, yes?” “Yeah, normally I can work from home but there are a couple big projects right now and I need to be there. Plus I have a couple deadlines coming up.” She nodded, then came over. “May I?” She asked, gesturing to Eunyeong. He swallowed, then handed her over to Bethany. Euny mewled, but didn’t protest much otherwise once she saw him right there. Bethany held her, gently rubbing her back until Eunyeong relaxed enough look at her. “I have a couple of things I like to use when babysitting, is it okay if I bring them? It’s just things like a white noise machine, a boppy and a sensory blanket.” He blinked at her. “A white noise machine, a what and a what?” “A…boppy…um, it’s pillow that’s a U-shape, helps babies sit up and she seems a little weaker in her spine, probably from the malnourishment when she was younger. Plus it can make them feel like they’re being held and gives you a free hand. And a sensory blanket, it’s made up of fabrics and different textures that stimulate the senses. Babies her age are always fascinated by different textures. Hybrids tend to like the softer textures, which is why I have two different blankets, but they’re still fascinated by the regular sensory blanket.” She examined the end of Euny’s tail, then brushed the end of her braid over Euny’s forehead, earning the wide-eyed surprised look Yoongi adored. Or he would adore it if he wasn’t still blinking as he tried to catch up. “Um…I guess that’s fine.” He mentally noted to ask Emma or Becca about that. “Um, a white noise machine?” “For while she naps, the white noise isn’t overwhelming, but can cover sounds from outside or in the apartment that might otherwise wake her. A lot of parents use them at night as well, because they can still hear if their child cries, but the sounds of the city are muted.” She already had Eunyeong hesitantly purring. “Do you have a stroller?” “Yes,” He answered, grateful he could answer that positively. There was so much he didn’t have…maybe he needed to do more research and go shopping. “Mr. Min? Are you okay?” “I just…didn’t realize there was so much…” He gestured around the room. “I’m just realizing that I’m a little under-prepared.” “Not at all, everybody has different ways of taking care of their kids. This is just the way I know. You’re obviously taking amazing care of her. I saw the police report and she’s so much healthier. She’s practically glowing with health. She has everything she needs.” Bethany handed Eunyeong back to him, smiling as Euny purred loudly in his arms, snuggling into him and letting her eyes snap shut. He still felt guilty. Other babies had cute nurseries, with decorations and color. Euny’s nursery had white walls, grey carpet, a black crib, and an oak chair and dresser. The only color came from her pink sheets and the blue changing station. No cute artwork, most of her toys were in the living room, and it felt so bland and…temporary. He didn’t want this to be temporary. He sort of droned through the rest of it while she went over her own outline of how she works and such and while he registered that he didn’t have any problem with it, he also wasn’t able to think of any sort of questions to ask. “Alright, if you’re okay with all of that, then I’ll be here tomorrow at eight?” He nodded. “Yeah. Eight. Or eight-thirty. Either works.” “I’ll be here at eight then. First day is always the hardest. For both the parent and the child.” She said goodbye to Euny and then him, leaving about an hour after arriving. He stood there in a bit of a stupor, then laid Eunyeong down to sleep so he could go do more research. That feeling of being just short of adequate rising the more he looked at pictures of nurseries and toys and equipment. He picked up his phone before he could think about it, listening to it ring and not entirely sure who he was calling. “Yoongi? Everything okay?” “Why didn’t you tell me about all of this stuff?” Yoongi burst out, barely registering the voice as Emma’s. “Sensory stuff? White noise machine? Whatever the hell a boppy is! And her nursery! It looks so temporary and I don’t want this to be temporary but I don’t know how to fix it and am I a terrible parent?!” “Yoongi, I need you breathe. Calming breaths, preferably. You’re an excellent parent. And I’m sorry I didn’t mention sensory toys or activities. It honestly slipped my mind. Besides, a boppy is just a fancy word for a pillow, and there’s one in that tub of supplies I gave you—” He went over, flipping the tub over so that everything came out. “Along with a night-light for her room to replace the one you didn’t like, and some of Nari’s clothes that she didn’t ruin. Do you want me to come out?” He hesitated, staring at the pillow in his hand. “No. Just…am I enough for her?” “Yes. You’re more than enough for her, and you give her more than what she needs to be happy and healthy. You’re a great parent, Yoongi. You’re just, still learning. That’s part of the whole, being a new parent thing. She’s happy, and healthy. The only thing temporary about her nursery is that it looking the way it does is temporary. It’s fixable, and frankly, you’ll want it to be more neutral as she grows older because she’s going to change her mind every month about what her favorite things are. She’ll be in a regular bed eventually, and then her room will change. So don’t worry so much about how it looks. She’s not going to remember how her nursery looked as a baby.” “Right…” “As for sensory toys and blankets, well, I made most of the ones for the triplets. I’ll send Taehyung some links and when he comes back the two of you can make some things. I’ll send a blanket like I had for the triplets in the mail, alright?” “Yeah. Yeah, alright.” “You’re okay?” “Yeah.” “Good. You liked the babysitter?” “I think she’s more competent than I am.” “-Euny will still love you more, don’t worry. Anything else I need to talk you through?” “No. Sorry, thanks.” “Don’t worry about it. I have to go. I’ve got three little troublemakers and their father no-where in sight.” “Yikes, bye.” “Bye.” Yoongi sighed, doing his best to let go of the worries. He took the night-light into her nursery, replacing the one that was too harsh and bright and that he had covered in tape to fix with the Moon-shaped night-light. Eunyeong started purring in her sleep as his scent reached her, so he went over and checked to see how asleep she was, rubbing her belly when she seemed to be dozing. He looked down at his precious baby, rubbing her belly until her purrs sort of faded and she was in a deep slumber. He took his sweatshirt off and hung it on the corner of the crib so that some of his fresh scent was with her, then backed out of the room, taking the monitor with him though he didn’t expect her to wake up for a while. He texted Taehyung, telling him that he was going through his artwork, then proceeded to do so, finally finding some nature scene that Taehyung must not have cared much about but was pretty and colorful without being overwhelming. Yoongi took it and went to his own room, digging in the closet until he found his tools and decided to hang the painting once Eunyeong was awake. Taehyung had sent ten texts by the time Yoongi checked again. Yoongi sent him a picture of the nature scene, simply saying he was going to hang it in Eunyeong’s nursery. He assumed Taehyung was done complaining when all he received was a smiley face and a thumbs up. Eunyeong woke up about an hour later, which was a little longer than her nap normally went, but had given Yoongi time to clean out the fridge and start dinner. He set her on the carpet with some toys before turning and quickly deciding where to hang the painting, hammering in a nail and positioning the painting while Euny looked at him with big eyes and attentive ears to the sound. He made sure it was level, then set the tools on top of the dresser to clean up later, sitting on the carpet with Euny and letting his tail brush over her head. She was mostly preoccupied with grabbing at the carpet, but she also liked the stuffed bunny Jungkook had gotten her for Christmas. She squished it’s foot and pulled on it’s ears, making soft sounds that he couldn’t help but purr at. She was adorable and he was smitten with his kitten. He pulled her into his lap, also grabbing the bunny and moving it around as he sang a kids song that he remembered from the triplets. She was smiling and giggling, purring loud enough that he could feel it against his chest. He snapped a picture of Euny hugging the bunny and sent it to Jungkook, surprised with Jungkook sent back a picture of him wide-eyed and grinning almost immediately with the caption, “She’s so cute!” He wasn’t about to disagree. He finally remembered that he was cooking and rushed to pick Eunyeong up so he could go look and see how badly he had ruined everything. It was bad. He groaned and then made a snap decision to go to the grocery store and get a rotisserie chicken for his own dinner. It would last him a few meals, and he could get some more oatmeal to mix into her Euny’s formula. He’d been doing since Christmas, to help her get enough food and get up to a healthy weight, which her doctor had informed him she was finally reaching at her check-up last week. She was just a little bit behind developmentally, and hadn’t been ready for solid food until very recently, and even then, more of it made it on her face and clothes than to her stomach. The store was chaos, so he kept her carrier loosely covered by the blanket, to try and muffle some of the noise. He was almost ready to check out when she started mewling softly, the mewl she let out when she needed her diaper changed. Suddenly he remembered why he hated going to the grocery store. He went toward the bathrooms, hoping to be proven wrong, but there were no changing tables. He growled in frustration, trying to figure out the cleanest way to change her. He hated public places because of this. It wasn’t so bad when there was one bathroom for men and women because then the changing table was available, but in bathrooms like this there were rarely changing tables and he wasn’t about to change her on the ground. He managed to change her but it wasn’t easy and he definitely asked the customer service desk why there wasn’t a changing table in the men’s bathrooms. “Dad’s need to change diapers too. I’m a single dad, and I can’t just ask someone to change her for me. That’s how kids get kidnapped.” “If you’d like to make a formal complaint—” “Yes.” The worker nodded, looking a little scared. He sighed. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to take out my frustration on you. I just don’t want her to get hurt or have to change her on the floor of a public bathroom.” She nodded again, handing him some papers to send in the the company’s headquarters. He got his groceries and went home, feeding Eunyeong before himself. That night he sat on his couch, holding his purring baby in his arms, sending the email of complaint to the head office of his grocery store so that he and Taehyung could change Eunyeong in the bathrooms without a problem. He almost laughed at how stupid it had been, doubting himself. He could take care of Eunyeong with barely any crying throughout the day, meeting her needs and desires, without anyone helping him. He wasn’t even tired. Not as long as his baby needed him. He could get through an entire shopping trip with barely any inconvenience. He knew that he wasn’t the most expressive of people, but he also knew that Euny loved him more than she loved even Taehyung—one of the most expressive people Yoongi knew. He knew it wouldn’t be easy, being a single dad, but he would make the same choice over and over again. He would always choose to care for Eunyeong. And him being a little behind on what to have for her was going to be okay, because she was a little behind as well, and they both had a bunch of people willing to help them catch up. She blinked sleepily up at him, her purr growing deeper as she started to fall asleep. “I love you, my princess,” He purred, kissing her forehead and relishing in the warmth and happiness of his once-cold and lonely apartment.

A/N: So, I think there will only be ten parts to this. I’m posting this early because starting tomorrow I’m going to be having a hell of a week. I have two exams, and lots of homework and I’m going to try and focus on getting the work done instead of writing (i’ll fail, I know I’ll fail). Anyway, have this piece of writing that one fifty of you seem to care about!
“I see you,” You said, smiling to yourself. “No you can’t,” Was the squeaky response Minsu gave you as he froze, halfway to the couch where you sat. “You’re wearing a red shirt,” You told him, looking at him. He was still blurry, and it was mostly your right eye that could see him. Your left eye wasn’t healing as well, which made sense since that was the side you were hit from. The doctors said you might not get full-vision back, that the hazy sight you had was probably the best you would get from that eye. Your right eye healed more every day, and your sight got better and better. “I couldn’t throw a ball to you, but I can definitely see where you are.” He ran over, slamming his body into the couch. “Yay! And your leg?” “Much better, your brother went to adjust my crutches so I can start getting around on my own.” You ruffled his hair, then patted the seat next to you. You were doing well in physical therapy, building your strength up quickly, though your therapist said you should see someone about your mental health through all of this. You had looked at her and shook your head, saying, “My mental problems come in the form of a man. I don’t think a doctor can help with that.” She hadn’t said a word about it since. Hoseok didn’t get any less physically affectionate either. Actually, he seemed to show it more the more you tried to pull away and become more independent. It was very rude of him to make you feel like everything was wrong with the world if he didn’t kiss the top of your head whenever he carried you down the stairs. Or that you might die if he didn’t stroke your hair, or hug you. And then to be completely oblivious to the effect he had on you… It was almost unforgivable… Almost. Kaemon came squealing through, objecting to the bath he had to take because he and Nari had gotten into the mud. Jin was laughing as he gave chase. “Monnie!” There was a screech of laughter as Kaemon was caught. “Got ya!” Jin laughed. “Oh, your eomma’s going to scrub you good for getting mud all over the floor.” “No!” Kaemon giggled happily, and you could just make out the wiggly mass that was him in Jin’s arms as they passed by again. “Oh, yes, she’ll even get your ears and tail!” “No!” You laughed along with the Minsu at his brother’s misfortune. It was so comfortable. It was strange, feeling like life had always been like this. Like you had always lived with them. The only thing that felt new, different, and absolutely insane was— “Here are your crutches,” Hoseok said, setting them against the table beside the couch. He then sat right next to you, stroking your hair once before staring at his phone. Minsu was wiggling and humming the theme song of the cartoon he had watched that morning since he wasn’t allowed to go outside with the mild fever he had. Emphasis on mild, given how he didn’t seem to even feel sick. But he’d been a couple degrees too warm, and Emma had noticed before either of the hybrids, which was impressive. “You want to try walking around the yard? Get some fresh air?” Hoseok asked suddenly. “Minsu’s fever is gone, so Emma said he could go outside and there’s a nice spot where we could eat lunch.” Minsu was still as stone as he waited for your response. You smiled. “Might be hard with crutches, but I’m up to the challenge. Minsu just has to promise not to get covered in mud.”
“YES!” He screeched, off the couch and running to get his shoes. Hoseok chuckled, getting up and helping you stand, handing you your crutches. “I thought one kid would be easier than all three.” “Good thinking,” You smiled, pushing thoughts of how carefully he cared for you to the back of your mind. It meant nothing. You meant nothing to him. “You okay? You’ve got that frown again. You get that now and then, your thoughts racing again?” He asked, cupping your face in one of his hands. His lovely, wonderful hand. The worry in his voice tore at your heart again, and you didn’t know there was even a piece of your heart left to tear. You thought it’d become confetti already. “Just a lot on my mind. The more I improve, the more I need to get ready to do. Find an apartment, find a job since they aren’t rebuilding the library…” You adjusted your grip, looking down and away from his hand. You couldn’t bear to have him touching you for a moment longer. He hummed softly. “Did I do something wrong?” You tensed up. “Why would you think that?” “You’ll look at everyone but me. You only frown around me, and that…” He sighed. “Your scent changes.” You scrunched up your nose. “My scent?” “It’s normally…when you’re happy and content…you smell like fresh-baked bread, warm and good. But when you get sad, or upset, you smell like bread dough, a little yeasty.” You cringed. “Really?” “It’s not a bad smell,” He quickly said. You cleared your throat. “A little yeasty?” “Okay…it’s actually a nice smell, just different from your normal one. It’s the precursor to deliciousness and home. I just…I’m worried about you. You seem uncomfortable around me. Did I do something wrong?” His voice sounded smaller than normal. “No,” You answered firmly. He hadn’t done anything wrong. He didn’t seem to like your answer, though. “Then what’s wrong?” “Hobi! Help me with my shoelaces!” Minsu came running in, then seemed to freeze. “What’s wrong, y/n?” Great. So all of them knew that you smelled doughy when you were upset. Fantastic. “Nothing, my leg just hurt for a moment. Let Hoseok help you with your shoes and lets get outside. I’m dying for some fresh air.” You smiled toward the kid. Thankfully, it was enough to distract Hoseok from questioning you any further. Today anyway. ——— You sighed and scrolled through the listings. “Everything open is being snatched up as quickly as it’s put on the market.” “Emma was serious when she said she’d talk to someone about reserving you an apartment the moment one of the buildings they’re building is finished,” Hoseok replied from the kitchen. “I know, but without a job, I don’t even know what I’ll be able to afford as far as rent goes.” “And nobody is hiring right now with the rebuild. I know. It’s time to turn the computer off, your eye doctor said you couldn’t look at the screen for more than two hours at a time and no more than six hours in a day.” He came over and closed the window as you tried to rebel, then shut the laptop. “I thought we could go for a walk with the kids. They need the exercise and fresh air and you could use a distraction.” He handed you your glasses, and the single crutch you still needed. Two weeks had done wonders for your body and your leg was almost completely healed. Next week you started therapy to build the muscle back up in it so you could actually put weight on it. You sighed and nodded. Twenty minutes later the two of you were calling to the kids not to go to far ahead on the country road. It was a nice day, and they were excited. Minsu was bouncing all over the place, and Kaemon kept stopping to turn his face and arms into the sun, while Nari skipped from wildflower to wildflower, collecting a bouquet for her mom. Hoseok was chuckling, monitoring the kids, but staying beside you. “Minsu, come back. I hear a car coming.” Nari and Kaemon came running back with their brother. You looked at Hoseok. He was glancing behind you all, then he looked forward suddenly. “Kids, let’s play a game of hide and seek. Go hide in the bushes.” They quickly did as they were told, hiding in the bushes. Hoseok muttered, “Sorry.” Then he gently pulled you into his arms, shoving your crutch into the long grasses and walking alongside you like the two of you were a couple. A van came, slowing down as it passed by you two. Then it drove off. The other car, coming from the other direction stopped and a man got out. “Hoseok, where are the kids?” “Micheal, they’re hiding. Two cars on this road at once?” “Nari, Minsu, Kaemon,” Micheal called. “Come get in the car.” They all came out of the bushes and Nari grabbed your crutch. “What’s going on?” You asked. It was weird. Being suspicious of vehicles on the road, suddenly telling them to get into the car… “We’re not exactly popular. There’s an organization that’s doing their best to undermine everything we’ve done. Take my car and drive. Don’t tell me where you’re going, just take the kids, take y/n, and get out of town. Emma, Jin, Becca and Timothy are safe. I’ve already talked to Namjoon, Yoongi, and Taehyung but I can’t get hold of Jungkook or Jimin.” “We’ll go there first,” Hoseok said, guiding you to the passenger’s seat. “I’ll call when we get there and you can tell me what really happened.” You closed the door and waited, hearing the three get buckled into the backseat and caught Micheal saying he’d get the car from the house and not to worry. Then Hoseok was driving at what looked like a pretty high speed. “Hobi-hyung? Where are we going?” “We’re going to go visit Jimin-ah and Jungkook-ah,” Hoseok replied, his tone cheerful, but a glance toward the backseat told you that the kids new that something was wrong. “We’ll see Ariel too, I’m sure.” “Ariel-unnie?!” Nari perked up, tail thumping lightly against her carseat. “Yup.” She bounced a little in her seat. “I love Ariel-unnie!” You felt like you couldn’t breath. “Who’s Ariel?” “Jimin’s fiancée. They’re getting married in October,” Hoseok answered easily, as if it wasn’t a big deal, unaware that he was taking away a fear of meeting someone that he cared about. Until you remembered that he wouldn’t introduce the kids to a girlfriend unless he planned on keeping her in his life. He turned on the stereo, and there was a kids CD in the player that the kids happily sang along with. The drive was way too long. You were left to interact with Hoseok after the CD ended and the kids were asleep. The man was rude. Who just sits that casually being attractive and irresistible and outshining the sun? How dare he invade your thoughts. How dare he act like he doesn’t know what he’s doing to you. Driving, and acting all domestic and charming. And talking with him was so easy as long as you avoided the topic of romance. You guys talked about books, shows, movies, school, work, the triplets, kids in general, politics (usually a topic you avoided), and family. You told him about your sister, your parents, the hybrids that actually raised you. You told him about the time surrounding your father’s murder. Including turning in your mother when you found out that she had killed him. “She threatened you too? Jeesh, what happened?” “Pete tackled her and told me to go to the police. The hybrid rights were instituted right before the end of the trial, which allowed me to be put in Pete and Myka’s custody until I graduated high-school. They stuck around until I turned twenty, then started traveling. They were talking about settling down and having kids in their last letter. My sister wanted nothing to do with me when I inherited and she didn’t. Dad always told me that she wouldn’t inherit anything because she would waste it on her many addictions.” You sighed. “Family is complicated.” “And your friends?” “I’m guessing you mean besides Emma? I’ve got a couple acquaintances, but none that I talk to regularly. I get coffee with one friend from college about twice a year. She was always floating in and out with her boyfriends anyways. And when I got a job that I loved…well, I didn’t really think about friends. I was happy. And then it all blew away like dust in the wind.” You snorted in disbelief at how quickly everything you had worked toward was blown away. He was quiet, glancing at you. “We’re almost there.” “You were ready for things to go wrong. Back there, you had the kids hide in the bushes because you heard two cars coming from different directions.” He gripped the steering wheel tighter for a moment. “Emma and Micheal have been targets for people against hybrid rights since…I don’t know. Right about the time she adopted me. People set the house on fire, and another group broke down the front door to try and attack us after Emma had been kidnapped…I guess we’ve just never let our guard down. Micheal and Becca are still active advocates and it doesn’t take much to know that Emma is the motivation behind Micheal’s apparent madness. All you have to do is type Micheal’s name in and her name pops up right alongside it. It’s just…automatic to prioritize the kids’ safety, you know?” “Protect them, yeah. So that they never face what you did,” You said, facing the road. He was just a blue of color on your left. “What any of us did, yeah,” He replied softly. “Jin was basically born into labor, he worked on a farm from the moment he could walk. He rescued Jungkook and Jimin himself, hid them and nursed them back to health. Both physically and mentally. We don’t expect real trouble, but we don’t want to risk them ever falling into the hands of someone who would put them through any sort of pain.” He pulled into the driveway of an apartment building. You looked up at the building, then back at the kids. “Kids, wake up.” Hoseok reached back, and shook Minsu. “We here?” You got out of the car, and leaned against it for a moment before limping back to the back door and opening it to unbuckle Nari. She climbed out, looking up at the building, but staying close to you. Hoseok passed you your crutch over the top of the car. “Come on, we’re going to go see Jungkook and Jimin.” There was a tilt to his head and you could pretty much see him worrying about them not having any clothes, or their stuffed animals, and then also whether or not the two brothers would be home. You gave him a smile, nodding slightly. “Stick close to us, kiddos.” “Yes, noona,” Kaemon said, sleepy still and holding onto Hoseok’s pants as you all slowly made your way into the apartment building. Hoseok guided you all up stairs, sticking close to you to make sure you didn’t have any struggles on the stairs. The kids were pouting after the first two floors. “Just one more floor, babes,” Hoseok said, stooping to kiss the top of Nari’s head. Kaemon growled softly, arms going up. Hoseok picked him up without question, nudging the other two into moving again. You we’re getting tired as well, leaning more heavily on the crutch. When finally you all reached the right floor and the door of the apartment, you were relieved. Hoseok knocked, loudly. There was some noise and then the door swung-open to reveal a bunny-hybrid, with round eyes that got huge with surprise. “Hobi?” He quickly grinned to greet the triplets, scooping up both Nari and Minsu and squeezing them. “Hey, guys! I’m so happy to see you!” They nuzzled into his neck, wrapping tightly around him and each other. They were pouting, whimpering, and just generally acting all wounded. He kissed both of their heads, looking at Hoseok with an unspoken question. “Come on in.” He looked at you, but seemed to decide he’d find out in due time. “Sorry to just drop in on you, but where the hell is your phone?” Hoseok asked, a slight growl in his voice. Jungkook glanced back, then set the kids on the couch. “My room. Why?” “Micheal tried calling you earlier, and I’m sure Emma and Jin have tried to as well. Where’s Jimin?” “He was having lunch with Ariel and her parents, but he dropped his phone yesterday and it died. I was supposed to tell Emma, but I forgot because I have an exam tomorrow and I’ve been studying like crazy…” Jungkook gestured morosely to the mess of textbooks and papers. “I’m home!” Another man called out behind you, then there was an excited squeak. “Hobi, Monnie, Minnie, Nari!” He threw his arms around Hoseok and Kaemon, grinning so brightly that his eyes disappeared. “Jimin!” Minsu cried out happily. Jimin released a chuckling Hoseok to hop over the back of the couch and squish the two kids there into his embrace. “Hi, munchkins!” They were talking over each other, pouting and getting all the sympathy and attention they thought they needed after such a stressful day. Hoseok deposited a whining Kaemon into the mix, then seemed to send a text before gently touching your arm, guiding you to the couch. “It’s okay. We’re safe here.” You let him guide you to a seat on the second couch, where he fussed over you for a second, even going so far as to tuck his head into your neck and breath in deeply. “I want to cuddle y/n!” Kaemon whined and scrambled up onto the couch you were sitting on. You smiled and took him into your arms, suppressing a laugh when Hoseok was shoved from the crook of your neck so that Kae could nuzzle into you. You cuddled him close, secretly grateful that he had shoved Hoseok away from you because you didn’t know how to act around him, or what to think of his actions. But all too soon, Kae was snoring into your shoulder and the other two were looking equally drowsy cuddled up with Jimin. “Everyone is okay then?” Jimin asked casually. Hoseok nodded, stroking Kae’s hair. “Yeah. There was just a small threat, I think. Micheal found us and told us to get out of town and since neither of you were answering we knew we had to check here. Oh, this is y/n, by the way.” “I figured,” Jimin said, giving you a friendly smile. Jungkook nodded slightly. “Why didn’t you bring any of their stuff? You know Kae’s going to freak out without his bear.” “We were out for a walk and Micheal seemed to think us getting out of there was pretty urgent.” Hoseok sighed. “Can we put them on your bed, Kook?” “Better put them on mine, I have more blankets and we can make a blanket den for them like Jin does on rainy days,” Jimin said before Jungkook could answer. He picked up Minsu, while Jungkook picked up Nari. You let Hoseok take Kaemon, then rubbed your eyes behind your glasses. They were sore, an all too common occurrence since the accident. You just wanted to be well again so you could get away from Hoseok and end your torment. “Hey, you okay?” Jungkook’s voice was soft, and you felt the couch dip as he sat beside you. “Yeah, my eyes are just sore.” You kept your answer as simple as possible to avoid detection. “I meant because of what Hobi did earlier, I saw the look on your face,” He murmured. “You can tell him not to do that, you know.” You pressed your lips together and looked at him before looking away. “Oh…oh.” He shifted so he was facing toward the hallway as well. “Um…y/n…about Hobi…” “Hey, Kook, Nari’s asking for you,” Hoseok said, poking his head in. “Why were you two talking about me?” “I was just going to tell her about how you’re scared of everything,” Jungkook said with a grin. “Brat.” Thank God for it.

A/N: Happy Part Nine! I’m weak and I’m posting early because I got responses to the quick census. I think you’ll be happy with the next part, which I will likely post on Wednesday!
“It’s likely you had a complex-partial seizure,” The doctor said, smiling kindly. “I’ve looked at your file, and it’s possible given the damage caused to your brain in the accident. Your doctor even listed it here as something he was concerned about as a side effect. You’re lucky, you could have had a grand mal seizure. You’re normally on these medications, since the accident anyway?” He set a list in front of you. You read over it and nodded. A seizure. Of course. It made sense now. You had trained to help kids who had seizures as part of your first aid certification and now that the doctor said it all of the symptoms made sense. “This one is to suppress nerve pain, and is also used for people with epilepsy. It’s likely taking this prevented you from showing symptoms earlier. Or that you had similar seizures before and were unaware that they occurred. I’ve sent down these prescriptions for you, given the circumstances you’re in, and you should be able to pick them up on your way out at the pharmacy on the first floor.” “But she’s okay?” Hoseok asked. “I’d have to run more tests, but considering the seizure lasted under five minutes, I think she’s fine. We’ll get her back on her medication and hopefully that keeps them from happening again.” “Thank you,” You murmured. You were exhausted. “No problem. Get your prescriptions, get home, get some rest. Both of you. Kids, would you like stickers?” All three perked up, tails wagging excitedly, thanking him when they got their stickers. It was dark out when you pulled up to the summer house. Thankfully, your seizure had ended in the store, and you had insisted on checking out before going to the walk-in clinic (the closest thing the town had to a hospital). Hoseok had stopped and gotten pizzas for dinner because there was no way either of you were cooking. You had to direct Hoseok where to find the key in the treehouse from the ground, guessing more than anything, but he eventually found it and you all entered the house you used to come to every summer. It was nicer than you remembered, and looked like the interior had been remodeled in the past few years. “It’s nice,” Hoseok said, looking around. “Alright, first things first, get the kiddos set with some dinner. Y/n, you sit and eat too. I can handle bringing things in and making beds if you get them into pajamas.” “Deal.” You helped him put slices of pizza on plates for the kids and yourself, then sat with them at the table in the breakfast nook to eat while they ate. Minsu and Kaemon picked the pepperoni off, and Kae gave his to his brother. Nari ate like normal. Then after Minsu finished his piece of pizza, he ate the pepperoni. You got them into their pajamas with very little fuss, and managed to take a shower and change into your own pajamas, only needing Hoseok’s help to get the brace back on (while he ranted about how you could have hurt yourself). He then insisted on blow-drying your hair, at least partially. You then helped him tuck the kids in. They had all fallen asleep with Minsu in the end, an hour earlier than their actual bedtime. Then Hoseok carried you into one of the other bedrooms and tucked you in, seeing that your medicine was kicking in. But you would swear that you felt him kiss your forehead before he left. The first day at the summer house the kids were blissfully unaware of the trouble surrounding their trip to this magical place. They loved that they could play in the shallow waters, and Minsu had caught about five frogs by now, and all three of them adored the treehouse. Three days in the summer house had passed with relatively little to worry you or cause problems. Except Hoseok, but he was an eternal problem that you weren’t sure you’d ever be able to fix. He seemed hyper aware of you now, checking on you periodically, making sure you were okay, but even when you were perfectly fine and it showed—as you played with the kids happily—he seemed to have this look in his eyes that haunted you late at night. It was the fourth day at the summer house that you walked down to the corner market and got a paper, seeing the headlines. The lady who owned the market sent her twelve-year-old daughter to get Hoseok for you. “What happened? Did you have a seizure?” He asked the moment he entered the store, the truck parked outside the doors. You handed him the paper, a lump in your throat. “It’s over.” He frowned and read over the paper, confused about why you would be so upset, until he finished reading the title of the article. He inhaled sharply. “Your sister.” “Guess she really did change,” You choked out. He hugged you close, tight. “She was protecting you. She died to protect you.” “We should get back. The kids.” “Yeah,” He agreed simply, picking you up and carrying you to the car while you protested weakly. “Don’t deprive me of one of my few pleasures in life.” You snorted, but didn’t argue any further. You didn’t know how you felt, other than conflicted. On one hand, you could literally only count the nice things she’d done for you on that one hand. On the other, she was your sister. Your family. You powered your phone on, and texted Emma the address. An hour later, the triplets were screeching with joy, throwing themselves into their parents arms and being adoringly smothered by said parents. Four hours later and all of you were back at Emma and Jin’s, the kids running to Jimin, Jungkook, and three hybrid men you didn’t know, one of which had a very young toddler in his arms. Hoseok stuck beside you the whole time. It was in the evening that you and Emma were talking, Hoseok gone from your side. “She was working for the organization that was against us, the one that broke that vile thing out of jail. But she leaked all the information that they needed to take everyone down. She’s a hero. But that doesn’t mean that what she did to you in the past can be forgotten,” Emma said thoughtfully. “Some scars run deep.” You sighed shakily. “She was finally reaching out, honestly and good-naturedly. And now I won’t ever be able to find out if she really wanted to be in my life again. I won’t be able to replace the litany of terrible memories that she’s left in my mind with good ones. I think that’s honestly more upsetting to me. She finally changed, we might have finally had the chance to be and act like siblings and now the chance is gone. And for me, it seems like everyday I lose just a little bit more. I don’t know if I can take it.” “Oh, honey,” She sighed and held you a little tighter. “It’s going to be okay.” “It’s not,” You whispered, closing your eyes as the tears filled them. “What else is bugging you, hon? Hmm? Because I don’t think this is about your sister.” So you told her, everything from being afraid of living alone now that you apparently had seizures (even with the medicine), to how you felt like your heart had been ground into dust over Hoseok. How his smile made you feel like life was worth living, but knowing that he would never in his right mind give it to you made you feel like you were dying. You told her about your worry over finding a new job, a place to live, everything. All while crying your eyes out. She didn’t say much, small comforting things, mostly just letting you get it all out now that you were safe. She waited until your sobs were hiccups, and your tears had slowed. You were sort of limp in her arms, finding comfort in her. “You should talk to Hobi about it,” She finally said, gently brushing your hair from your face. “I know it’s scary, and I know it feels like too big of a risk right now, but if you don’t, you’re going to really hurt yourself in the long run. You can wait until you’ve recovered, but I think the sooner you do it the better it will be.” You nodded, then cracked a smile as she directed your hand to where one of her twins was kicking a tiny bit. “How are you doing?” “Well, normally twins come early, so I’m sort of worried, but the doctors were constantly checking on me at the sanctuary. If I don’t go into labor within the week, they’re going to do a c-section. I don’t think it’ll come to that though.” You sat up, smiling at her. “Why’s that? Did you have spicy food or something?” “Mmm, I could really go for some curry now…” She murmured, then shook her head. “No, but I should probably get Jin in a while and head to the hospital.” You looked at her. “You’re way too calm for someone who basically just said they’re in labor.” “I was in the hospital for two days with the triplets before they were born. You learn how long you can wait. Besides, they’re all cuddled up with Jin in this big pile of blankets and pillows and it’s adorable. Then Jungkook and Jimin joined them and it was even more adorable, so of course Hoseok joined them as well. Lots of good memories, and plenty of pictures.” She showed you one that she had taken. You grinned. She smiled at it as well, sighing. “Jungkook seemed so little when he first came, and grew so fast.” “The man that did those things to Hoseok…” “Tried to break into the Sanctuary. Thought he was there.” “And?” She shifted. “Jin put two bullets in his chest, and the police put a third in his head.” Her voice was surprisingly cold. “Good,” You said. She nodded slowly. “The files your sister released showed that Hobi was the first to survive him. Yoongi would have been killed too if he hadn’t been so strong. I’m not saying killing him was right, but I couldn’t sleep knowing he was out there somewhere. Hurting someone. Even if he had lived, he would have received the death penalty. He just got it a little sooner than he expected.” “Eomma?” Hoseok poked his head into the room, then froze, looking between you and Emma. You could see how he wanted to rush over and find out what was wrong, itching to try and comfort you because he couldn’t help it. He instinctively needed to protect you, that’s what he said. “Hey, Hobi. You okay?” She asked, her voice softer. He nodded tersely. “Everything okay here?” “Yeah, we’re just having some girl-talk. Can you go wake Jin, Hobi? Tell him we need to head to the hospital?” “Why?!” His tail fluffed out, eyes wide. She laughed softly. “Had to have these babies sometime, Hobi.” His shoulders relaxed dramatically. “Oh, right. Got it. I’ll go wake him up.” He handed you the box of tissues, then left. She lightly rubbed your back. “You okay?” “Yeah, I’ll be fine. You just focus on your babies,” You told her, leaning on her shoulder. “You try to relax. Don’t worry so much about you and Hobi. Everything will work out for the best.” You nodded, watching somewhat helplessly as she stood up and headed toward the hallway, slipping on her flats and her coat serenely as she waited for her husband. Jin came quickly with a bag, dressed again, and he kissed her. “You ready, baby?” “Yeah, honey. I’m ready. Hobi…” “I’m in charge, I know the drill. I’ll bring the kids in when you call.” He kissed her cheek, nuzzling it lightly. “Love you, Eomma.” “Love you too.” She looked over at you and smiled reassuringly. “Make sure she gets to bed at a decent time, yeah?” “I will.” He smiled at you. His hair was a bit messy from his nap and you just wanted to run your hands through it. Your heart ached as you watched how lovingly Jin looked at Emma as they left, the way he seemed to know what was enough attention and what was too much. You wanted something like that. You had something similar, but his heart wasn’t actually in it. Just his instinct. You wanted it because the other person loved you, really and truly loved you. And someone as amazing as Hoseok was way out of your league. “Hey, you still with me?” He asked, crouching in front of you. You nodded, giving him a fleeting smile. “Yeah, just…kind of jealous of her and Jin, you know?” He broke into a grin as he chuckle. “I do know. I mean, they have everything. Even if the past week has been absolutely crazy. They have the house, with the yard, and three angels sleeping upstairs with their adopted kids while they go to the hospital to give birth to two more angels. You know, they’re actually married? It’s so rare in the world of hybrids to actually get married, most just mate.” “But she’s human,” You pointed out, shrugging. “Marriage is something we sort of dream about. Some don’t see it as necessary and others believe it very necessary or right, or just plain romantic.” “What about you?” You dared to glance at his face for the very smallest moment. “I don’t know. When I was younger I dreamed about a wedding. My dad walking me down the isle, I’d have a sunflower and lily bouquet, and my family would be getting along. My mom would cry, and my sister would be my maid of honor. Instead, my father and sister are dead, and my mom is in jail and has refused every attempt I’ve made to visit her because I turned her in. And I’m allergic to lilies. I can’t even really walk.” “You’re getting better,” He reassured you softly, his eyes sad as he gently held your hand. “Am I?” You asked, then sighed. “It just feels like it never ends.” He nodded, then got up before picking you up. “You’ll feel better tomorrow, after you get some sleep. Do you want to go to the hospital with us?” You shrugged. “It’s a family thing. I don’t want to intrude.” “You won’t be intruding. You’re part of this family now.” He helped you pull the covers over you. “Besides, they’re going to be cute kids.” “They’ve got good genes,” You replied, half-asleep already. He whispered something in reply, kissing your forehead, but you were drifting to sleep too fast to make it out.

A/N: I used placeholder names for the other readers. Ava is another of the most common names, Ren because of the meaning, and Ariel because it means lion. Because I wasn’t going to go through the insanity of trying to leave everyone nameless.
MERRY CHRISTMAS! Happy Holidays!
You and Jungkook met by chance when you started tutoring alongside your best friend’s brother for some extra cash. You were meeting up with Josh to get his advice on how to help a student you were tutoring when you ran into the bunny-hybrid and you just sort of blinked in surprise as he caught the book you dropped. He was a little shy, but so were you. You both stood there, trying to think of something to say until you both started talking at once. Josh intervened right about then, asking you to take over tutoring Jungkook because the help he needed was more in your wheelhouse. Thus, you two started getting coffee together and he told you about his family and you told him about your lack-thereof. Just you and your former owner, who would be on his honeymoon for Christmas. That’s when he got the idea to invite you to his family’s Christmas, insisting that they wouldn’t mind and that there would totally be enough food for you and that they wouldn’t buy presents for you so you didn’t have to buy presents for them. “What if I already got you a Christmas present?” You teased, thinking of how it was waiting in your room to be wrapped and how you had planned to give it to him at your next tutoring session. You were always well prepared for things, storing them away due to your squirrel genes. You finished Christmas shopping before December even hit. He had gotten flustered. “Well…we could exchange gifts. No sense in returning them.” You grinned at him. “You got me a gift already?” He looked away, sort of sheepish. “Jungkook, you are a complete sweetheart. But…won’t it be a little…awkward?” He shook his head. “Dinner is technically completely separate occasion for us. We’ve already done presents in the morning and lunch is the big thing. Dinner is mostly whatever was left of lunch and we’re all just…chilling. Goofing off. The kids are with Eomma and Appa. We’re playing games and barely hitting the eggnog and mulled cider. Jimin, Yoongi, and Jimin’s wife enjoy some catnip. You’ll like them. Well, Namjoon and his mate can be a little standoffish, but they’ll warm up. They’re wolf hybrids.” Really? That’s so cool. You know they’re going extinct,” You said. “Actually, that’s going to be on the next test. Write that down.” His eyes widened, muttering a curse under his breath and jotting it into his study notes. “This final is going to suck.” “You’ll be fine. As long as you remember that the breeding of wolf hybrids stopped being practiced the year before I was born.” You jotted down the year in his notes. “You’re positive that your family won’t mind?” “Eomma and Appa are always saying my friends are more than welcome. They sort of adopt people anyway. Christmas dinner isn’t a big deal. Now, are you going to accept and move on to helping me pass this final, or are we going to schedule tutoring sessions for next semester when I have to retake this course?” You rolled your eyes and hit his head with your fluffy tail. “You’ve passed so far. You’d get a good enough grade to pass. Wouldn’t look great for your GPA, but you’d still pass.” You stirred your hot chocolate and turned your attention to your own textbook. “You’re coming, right?” He asked softly, his bunny ears back against his head. You smiled and nodded. “Yeah, Kook. I’d love to.” “Good.” ———— You rang the doorbell, though you doubted you really needed to when Jungkook opened the door the moment you pressed it. He grinned. “You came!” “I told you I would,” You replied, smiling and following him inside. You let him take your coat and scarf. Three curious little heads were peeking around the doorway, whispering and giggling. Jungkook gestured toward them. “The triplets, Nari, Kaemon, and Minsu. You guys can meet her, she doesn’t bite. Right y/n?” You nodded. “Right. Jungkook has told me lots about you.” Nari and one of the boys hurried forward, sniffing and smiling at you. “Are you Jungkook’s girlfriend?” The boy asked. “Yah, Minsu, what have we told you about sticking your nose where it isn’t wanted?” Jungkook asked, tossing the boy over his shoulder. Minsu just laughed. “Hyung!” Nari hopped closer. “Hi, you smell good.” “That’s not how we start polite conversation,” A woman, Emma—you assumed, said softly. Nari gave her a sheepish smile. “Hello, I’m Nari, Jungkook-oppa’s little sister. That’s Minsu, and this is Kaemon,” She said, pulling the last little boy from where he was hiding shyly beside his mother’s legs. “Nice to meet you, Nari.” You shook her little hand, then stood back up at smiled at the woman. “You must be Emma?” She nodded. “And you’re y/n. Jungkook has told us a lot about you.” “All good?” She laughed when Kook gave both of you a scared look. “Of course.” You smiled. “Thank you for letting me come here—” “Oh, don’t even mention it. We’re happy to have you. Alright, my little munchkins, time for quiet time with your appa and me.” She herded the two on the floor toward the stairs. “Have fun. Don’t burn the house down. Same rules as always,” She told Jungkook, kissing his cheek after he put Minsu down. “Yes, eomma,” He replied softly, looking at her with more love than you had ever seen on his face before. It was strange seeing him at home. He was nice, really and truly, but he always seemed a little nervous even around his friends. Here he was completely relaxed, ears in a neutral position and expression completely open. You loved it. She disappeared upstairs, calling over her shoulder, “Tell Jin to bring the can of whipped cream.” “Yes, eomma,” Jungkook waved for you to follow him into the next room. “Bathroom is over there. This is the kitchen and living room.” You nodded, scurrying a little closer because now you were feeling a little shy as you saw his family all gathered in the area, most of the attention was on a toddler that was playing with a stuffed animal the same size as her, her stump of a tail lashing playfully. “Appa, eomma said to bring the can of whipped cream,” Jungkook told a dog-hybrid that was putting mugs on a tray. “This is y/n. Y/n, this is Jin. He’s the one who adopted me.” You smiled. “Jungkook’s told me all about you. And Emma. Actually, all of you. I’m sort of a history buff, I like hearing people’s stories.” Jin smiled at you. “Welcome to our house. Glad to meet you. We understand that you’re the reason Jungkook’s passed most of his classes this semester.” You giggled as Jungkook groaned and rolled his eyes. “He just needed someone to make him sit down and study, right, Kook?” He grumbled something about regrets. You turned as someone tapped your shoulder. The monkey-hybrid grinned at you. “I’m Taehyung. And you’re standing under mistletoe.” You looked up, eyes widening. He dropped a kiss on your lips quickly, then darted away with a mischievous laugh. You stared after him, then quickly sidestepped away from the mistletoe before anyone else got any bright ideas. Your pressed the back of your cold fingers to your burning cheeks. Jin was barely suppressing his laughter. Jungkook was rigid, eyes huge, brow furrowed, and lips parted in surprise. You cleared your throat. “Um, introduce me to the others before they decide to introduce themselves to me under mistletoe.” Jungkook scowled momentarily, then nodded and led the way over to the others. “That’s Yoongi and his daughter Eunyeong, that’s Taehyung, who you met. Namjoon and his mate, Ava. Jimin and his wife, Ariel. Hoseok and Ren. This is y/n. My friend.” “Good kisser,” Taehyung chuckled. You closed your eyes, listening as Taehyung was scolded and teased and told to behave. Jungkook put an arm around you. “Don’t worry. I’ll take him if he tries anything again.” You glanced up at him and then let him lead you to a seat on the couch Yoongi was sitting on. Eunyeong came over, curious. “Hi.” “Hello,” You replied, waving a little. She grinned. “Hi.” You giggled. “Hello, what’s your name?” “Euny,” She replied, hugging your legs as she sniffed you. “W’as you name?” “Y/n,” You told her gently. She parroted you, then giggled and let go, going over to Yoongi. “Appa, that’s y/n,” She said, crawling up into his lap and then reaching precariously to pull the stuffed animal up as well. He stopped her, picking it up himself and setting it on Jungkook’s lap. “Careful, Euny.” He spoke in a tired voice, unemotional, but she just purred and snuggled into him, earning a small smile. Ava, Namjoon’s mate, smiled at you. “Jungkook talks a lot about you. What about him? What’s he like when he’s not around us?” “Jumpy,” You replied, hearing a small grunt of protest from Jungkook. You nudged him. “Don’t deny it. Took me two months, that’s fourteen study sessions where we spent three hours together to get him to even look my in the eyes and speak a sentence without then blushing and running out on some fruitless errand like getting more coffee or a snack before inevitably having to return and continue studying. When he finally did start talking to me, it was because he saw my boyfriend cheating on me.” “That was a mess,” Jungkook muttered, arm going around your shoulders again and his nose twitching like he smelled something bad. Ren gave a sympathetic smile. “Jerk?” “Major jerk. Made it so I was afraid to even talk to him. Jungkook and my friends had to back me up. Even then, my former owner had to threaten him to never come around me again. My roommate was extremely concerned. But that was forever ago. Jungkook’s talked to me ever since.” You gently elbowed him, smiling at him. Ava flashed you a big grin. “How long have you two been—” “Isn’t it time for Eunyeong’s nap?” Jungkook asked a little too loudly. Yoongi gave Jungkook a glare you would never want to receive. Euny went still, eyes getting huge, tail fluffing out. “Nooooo!” She mewled out, sounding absolutely heartbroken. Tears immediately fell down her face. The entire room was tense. Ava and Namjoon looked like they were looking for something to attack. Jimin’s ears were back, looking almost as heartbroken as Eunyeong sounded and Ariel was holding onto him and biting her lip. Hoseok had his face behind his hand and Ren was giving Yoongi a sympathetic look. Jungkook looked like he had serious regrets. “Hyung, I’m sorry.” Yoongi snatched up Eunyeong and her stuffed animal. “Shh, baby, it’s not time for a nap.” He went into a different room that Jungkook hadn’t labeled. Taehyung reached out, looking upset, but he then gave Jungkook a hard look. “Yah! Jungkook! We just told you not to mention naps around Euny!” Jungkook’s ears were flat and the scent he gave off spoke of how ashamed he felt. “Sorry, hyung.” You reached out and touched Taehyung’s shoulder as he got ready to speak again. “I’m sure it wasn’t intentional, oppa.” Taehyung looked at you, expression softening into something a little more like an upset pout. He took your hand. Then Jungkook had him pinned to the floor and Taehyung was yelping in surprise. You flinched. Jimin quickly pulled Jungkook off of Taehyung after some harshly whispered words and a stern look. Jungkook tore away from Jimin, grabbed your arm and pulled you out of the room, he tossed your coat, purse, and scarf at you before dragging you outside. “Jungkook?!” You finally tore away from him once you were both outside. He whipped around and glared at you. “Why did you do that?” “Do what?” You asked, folding your arms, and glaring right back. “Let him kiss you! Touch him! Calling him oppa! What are you doing treating him like that? Now his smell is all over you!” He grabbed you and pulled you to his chest, holding you there as he growled a very un-bunny-like growl. You were sort of stunned into complacency as he started rubbing all over you, covering you with his scent. “Stupid mistletoe, stupid Taehyung,” He muttered, suddenly nipping at your scent gland. You jumped. “Jungkook?” He pulled away when he heard your tone, wincing. “I’m sorry. I’m really sorry.” You just looked at him, bewildered. “What is going on, Jungkook?” He looked down. “I don’t want his scent on you.” “So you tackled him and then dragged me out into the cold?” You slipped your coat on. “And basically kicked me out of your house after inviting me. I haven’t even been here half an hour. If you didn’t want me to come, then you shouldn’t have invited me!” He looked up at you with alarm. “What? No! I want you here! I’m not kicking you out, I just had to get you away from him! From them! It’s not fair for their scent to be on you when none of mine is!” You frowned at him. “Jungkook, your scent is all over me. Taehyung barely touched me. You’ve been hanging all over me for weeks. It’d take four showers and a completely new wardrobe to get your scent out.” He blinked at you. “Could you just say it? Could you just tell me that you want to date me. To be my mate already. Do you even realize that you’ve basically been going through all the regular mating rituals without ever saying anything?” You folded your arms, frowning at him. “Or kissing me. I think I’ve been pretty patient through all of this, don’t you?” His eyes were huge, staring at you, but also distant as his mind went over everything. “Oh man, holy—” “Jungkook?” Emma asked, opening the front door. “What is going on?” He looked over at her, then back at you as you pulled your scarf tightly around you to ward off the cold. You wore your dress jacket because you were just going from the car to the house and it provided very little warmth. “Y/n, are you leaving already?” Emma asked, still giving Jungkook that mom look. “I honestly don’t know,” You replied, folding your arms and hunching your shoulders to try and contain the warmth. Jungkook closed his eyes. “Eomma, could you go back inside. We’ll be back in soon.” She looked at you, silently asking if you were okay. You hesitated, then nodded. She nodded and went back inside. Jungkook put both hands on your shoulders. “I didn’t realize I was doing it.” “I’m seeing that.” “I’m sorry. I…should have been more careful and I shouldn’t have reacted like that. I just…after seeing you with your ex…I never wanted to see you hurt again and when Taehyung kissed you…” He scowled at the ground, then looked into your eyes with determination. “Will you still have me?” You blinked at the intensity in his gaze. “I don’t know.” He looked down, then stepped closer and kissed you. It was soft, sweet, everything you knew he was. Perfect. You looked up at him. “You can’t just freak out like that. Not around your family. It’s embarrassing for me, you know.” He nodded. “I’m sorry. I just…I didn’t want to lose you so I never said anything.” “Jungkook,” You said softly. “Just kiss me.” He relaxed, smiling and leaning down to kiss you again. Then again. His arms wrapped around you, and you curled into the warmth that emanated from him. He pulled away, running his fingers through your hair with a small smile. “I’ve always wanted to play with your hair. And feel your ears. Can I feel your ears?” You nodded, leaning into his chest. His hand slid through your hair, then pet it down before he tentatively slid his hand over your ears. “They’re so small and cute,” He murmured. You giggled softly. “I’m a squirrel-hybrid. What did you expect?” He leaned down and kissed you. “Is it weird that we’re different hybrid species?” “Do you really care? Because if you do, then we can’t go forward.” “I don’t. I just wanted to make sure you didn’t think so. You met Ariel. She’s a mix of two hybrid species. She’s fox and cat. We’re at least in the same family of species.” Jungkook looked thoughtful. “Um,” You started, wondering if you should burst his bubble. “Actually, squirrels are in the order Rodentia while rabbits are in the order Lagomorpha, which puts me in the family Sciuridae and you in the family Leporidae.” He blinked at you blankly. “But…” “It changed a few years ago. Like twelve.” He looked at the ground. “Well, that’s going to affect my grade in Biology…” You winced. “That was actually on your test?” He nodded. “Well, you should still be able to pass. Come on. I’m freezing. And I was promised food.” He blinked a few more times, then nodded. “Right. You look cute when you eat. Your cheeks get all puffy.” You groaned. “Do not let me store food in my cheeks in front of your family. I am not going to behave like a squirrel in front of them.” “It’s cute. If we’re dating, can I play with your tail? It’s so fluffy.” “Not in front of other people. I have pride, you know.” You hit him in the face with your tail. He smiled at you. “Can we cuddle?” “Sure, but don’t trap me. I’ll freak out.” He caught you, ears perked with excitement. “Can we hang out without studying?” “We better,” You replied, smiling up at him. He bit his lip. “I freaked out earlier and mentioned Eunyeong’s naptime because Ava was about to ask how long we’ve been dating. She’s trouble. I could see the question in her eyes and I didn’t want her to ask that and make things awkward and everything just spiraled out of control from there. I am so sorry, I promise I won’t do anything like that ever again.” You just smiled at him. “It’s okay, Kook. It’s nice seeing you here. Where you’re most comfortable. I just want you to be relaxed and happy. Nothing’s going to happen with me and any other guy.” He nodded, eyes closed as you kissed him. His arm slid gently around your waist, guiding you back inside. He helped you take your coat off, hanging it up with your scarf and purse. He then guided you back into the room where the rest of his family was, including Yoongi and Eunyeong but excluding Emma, Jin, and the triplets. Jimin came over, looking worried. “Everything okay?” Jungkook nodded. “Yeah, hyung. I was just being stupid.” You nudged him gently. “We’re good now. Go apologize to Taehyung.” He nodded again. “Can you wait here? I want to sit by you.” You nodded, nudging him again gently. Jimin stood with you, watching him go. “He never clarified this was a date, did he?” You laughed softly. “I don’t think he even thought of it as a date until Taehyung kissed me and he didn’t like it.” He grinned. “You’re all he talks about.” “I’ve been accused of doing the same by my friends and family,” You replied, biting your lip. “How awkward was it when we left?” “We’ve had weirder. We just gave Taehyung some sweet potato chips and showed him the pictures of the kids Ariel is working with at the clinic. They’ll talk it out. Ren, Hoseok, and Ava are getting dinner together.” He gestured toward the kitchen where they were working. Jungkook came back over. “We’re good. Time to eat, Noona?” “Almost,” Ren replied, setting more dishes on the table. Jungkook wrapped his arms around you cautiously, sneakily kissing your cheek. “Your tail, that’s going to be enemy number 1, isn’t it?” “Always,” You replied cheerfully, resting your cheek against his. “But it’s nice and warm like a blanket in winter.” He smiled. “That does sound nice,” He whispered in your ear. Taehyung’s laugh filled the room. “Hey! They’re matching shades of red!” He grinned at the two of you and then started dodging around the table as Jungkook playfully chased him. Your eyes followed your bunny, grateful for this wonderful, magical day.

Angst with fluffs: 2,584 words
A/N: The wait is over for the next part. I mean, it’s only been eleven days which isn’t nearly as long as I’ve been waiting for the fic I’m reading on Ao3 to update, but it’s still pretty long if you’re only on my blog for this story. I’m trying to figure out how to approach the next few chapters so that I can resolve things. Also, formatting is a little different so let me know if you like it or not.
You woke up to find Hoseok’s arms around you.
You lay there, frozen in shock for what felt like forever.
Until Jungkook poked his head into the room, nose twitching. “Damn it, Hobi.” He hurried over and carefully moved Hoseok’s arms. “Go.”
You slid out and onto the chair beside the bed, hugging yourself and staring at the way Hoseok searched in his sleep for you.
Jungkook handed you your crutch. “The kids are going to be all over you.”
“Why?”
He looked away. “You smell like fear. That’s what made me look for Hobi in here…it’s seeped into the hallway. It’s not all from Hoseok-hyung…”
“No, I had a nightmare,” You reached for the nightstand and grabbed your glasses so you could actually see his expression. Apparently, it was going to be one of those days where your left eye wouldn’t work, which was fantastic and another reason Hoseok being beside you when you woke up scared you. What if it had been someone else?
Your right eye wasn’t helping much either, only focusing after you put your glasses on. Only reason you knew it was Jungkook before was because you could make out the ears.
“Good, because…” He stopped there. “He wouldn’t want you to be scared of him.”
“I’m not scared of him,” You answered sharply.
“I know. You’re scared of what you feel for him.”
You got up and passed him. “Shut up. I just woke up. I don’t need this.”
“I know, sorry. I just…I think you should tell him. At least that would prevent some hard feelings between you both.”
You shook your head. “I’m not…I can’t handle the stress.”
“But if there’s even a chance that—”
You couldn’t breathe, but hitting him with your crutch seemed to shut him up. “Shut. Up.”
He listened this time, following closely behind you, his desire to tell you to breath heavy in the air.
You dropped onto the couch and dropped your head into your hands to try and calm down. Of course there would be ramifications of you never speaking about the feelings you had for Hoseok. Of you rushing away from his gravitational pull as quickly as you could. You wanted to keep him in your life, but you knew you couldn’t have him. Not the way—
“Do you smell smoke?” Jungkook asked, sounding alarmed.
You sat up, not even sure if you could breath in to smell.
Hoseok came stumbling out. “Is your neighbor’s fire alarm going off?”
Jimin came running into the apartment. “Quick, get the kids, out the fire escape. I think the threat was bigger than they thought!” He had a bloody nose.
Jungkook ran to the bedroom.
Hoseok and Jimin pulled you to your feet as the smoke started in under the door, then Jimin hurried to help with the kids.
You nudged Hoseok. “Protect them. I’ll be along as fast as I can.”
“Jimin and Jungkook have them. I’m protecting you.” He picked you up. “Need to move faster.”
You could hear the kids yelping in fright.
Hoseok set you down, then guided you out the window. “The car isn’t big enough for all of us.”
“I need to get to Ariel. Kook and I will get them into the car with you and y/n, then we’ll head toward her place. Then warn her parents, just in case,” Jimin said from outside the window as he helped you through.
“Be careful, Jiminie,” Hoseok warned, sounding concerned. “If anything happens to you two…”
“Let’s focus on getting to safety before you go worrying about the future,” You interrupted.
They both nodded and helped you down the fire escape since you couldn’t bend your leg with the brace.
Once down, Hoseok checked that the munchkins were okay.
An officer saw them and came over.
Jungkook intercepted, talking softly and explaining the situation.
The officer’s eyes widened and he nodded.
Jungkook came back over. “He’s a hybrid. He said he’ll take us to Ariel’s.”
Hoseok breathed a sigh of relief. “Good. Help me get them into the car then we can be on our way. Eomma gave me specific instructions to keep them away from the Sanctuary, but if the officer can take you there, it’s probably safest.”
“Okay, hyung.”
They got the kids strapped in while you got into the passenger seat, pulling out a physical map and scouting out a route.
The kids were terrified, crying for their parents, and just generally in distress.
You turned in your seat, starting with Kae since he was in the middle, stroking his head and pulled the car blankets over them. “It’s okay. It’s going to be okay. Min-min, tuck the blanket around yourself, okay, baby?”
Min-min nodded and managed to tuck the blanket around his shoulders, sniffling and sobbing but still a little calmer than the other two. “I want Appa.”
“I know, I know you do.” You craned your arm around the seat to rub his head and ears, then stretched over to tuck the blanket around Nari. “It’s okay. Everything will be okay. We’re going to take care of you and protect you. Okay?”
“Okay,” Minsu whimpered, sniffling but a little calmer. He must have reached over and grabbed his brother’s hand. “It’s okay, Monnie…”
You turned to Hoseok as he got in, careful to avoid touching you since you were over the console. “Head towards Main, then turn left, get on the highway.”
He nodded, looking somewhat grateful that you had already planned it out.
“Min-min, I’m going to lean my seat back okay, let me know before I squish you,” You said in a light tone.
He giggled and sniffled at the same time, squeaking when you went all the way back and were basically on his lap (you didn’t stay there), but it was a good squeak and it let you reach all three of them more easily, even if it was acutely uncomfortable and somewhat dangerous.
It took a long time for them to even begin to calm down, and the other two were pretty miserable after such a scare.
“Better pull into that rest stop,” You told Hoseok softly.
He nodded.
Once there, you took Nari and he took the other two into the bathrooms. Jimin or Jungkook had thrown the supplies bought for the munchkins last night into a backpack, and the clothes that they had been wearing the day before, but you had told Hoseok to keep them in their pajamas because they would be more comfortable. It still didn’t leave you two with very much for the almost 5-year-olds who had had two stressful days without their parents. Last night had been a trial since they didn’t have their stuffed animals and couldn’t understand how their brothers could forget to get them toothbrushes, but eventually Jimin had convinced them that it was really special and promised that he would sleep with them.
You honestly weren’t sure how tonight was going to go, but you were ready to put money on them sleeping for the rest of the car ride. However long that might be.
You tucked Nari back into the carseat, knowing she could buckle herself so you left her unbuckled for now. You needed to go over what happened with Hoseok.
He set the kids into their carseats, telling them to buckled up and cuddle up with the blankets. He left the driver’s side door open and faced you.
You held up a plastic bag. “I thought I’d raid the vending machine.”
He nodded. “Good idea. There should be some decent snacks there. I’m sorry about all of this. I thought…we should have been safe there.”
You shrugged. “It is what it is.”
“It’s never been this bad before.”
"I think they're more determined than you all gave them credit for," You said simply, shrugging again and shaking your head. When had you gotten vision back in that eye? Because you could clearly see how upset he was. "Check in with Emma, make sure they're okay. I'll go to the vending machine and get some snacks. Better make sure the other two got somewhere safe as well."
“You shouldn’t—”
“I’m okay. I made it to the bathroom with Nari and back and it feels okay. I’m not in pain. She said to stop if there was pain, and I will, but we kind of left the crutch back in the apartment. I’ll holler if I need help.”
He nodded reluctantly, and pulled out his phone.
You reassured the triplets that you would be right back and limped back inside to the vending machine. You got as many decent snacks as you could before also getting some sugary ones. Some for bribes for the kids (desperate times) and the others for you and Hoseok. You were also considering getting a few sodas along with the water bottle you were planning on getting. One to split amongst the three of them, and one each for you and Hoseok. Something with caffeine so that you could keep up with the kids.
You jumped when your phone started ringing, and you stared disbelievingly at the caller id before finally answering it. "Hello?"
"Y/n? It's Sarah."
"I know, I have caller I.D. I'm just...surprised? What's up?" You swallowed and glanced back at car, sticking the most recently acquired snack into the grocery bag you had found in the backseat of the car.
"Can't I just call my sister?"
"You never have before," You replied dryly. "Seriously, Sarah, what's up?"
"I saw you on the news."
You blinked. "Oh?"
"Apartment fire. You were wearing a leg brace."
"Yup."
"Y/n," She said, annoyed.
"What do you want me to say? Yes, I'm currently recovering. Have been for two months ever since the tornado that ripped through the city. And yeah, there was a fire at the apartment building I was visiting today with my friend, who is trying to protect his siblings from people who are after them. What do you want?"
She was quiet. "You remember those summers where we would go to the lake?"
You scoffed lightly. "I hid in the tree-house the whole trip because Mom and Dad would always be fighting."
"Uncle Greg sold it to me. I'm not there right now, but it's safe. I've heard some rumors around here. Get there. No one has identified you yet, and they wouldn't be able to connect us to each other. Let alone me to that hybrid you're with. Key is in the treehouse, truck keys are in the desk, don’t use whatever vehicle you have around town. Stash it in the garage."
“Hang on, you’re helping me?”
“Y/n, the rumors I’ve heard are not good. I know I haven’t talked to you since that mess with the will—”
“Six years ago.”
“—but I’m serious right now.”
You weren’t sure you believed her.
“These people broke that guy out of jail. The one that did all those illegal things with hybrid kids. He sold them underage, abused them, he got put in jail after almost killing a fox hybrid almost fifteen years ago. He’s bad. Really bad. And if you’re with hybrids…especially kids…”
You stared at the vending machine. “F…fox hybrid…fifteen years ago…”
“Yeah, he almost killed the kid, who was saved by a cat hybrid just a couple years older than him. That was all they said other than the kid had been beaten to within an inch of his life.”
“Sarah…I think I’m with that fox hybrid…”
“What?”
“Hoseok, he…I think he’s…”
“Get to the summer house.”
“Okay…”
“Hey, you need to be stronger than you were the night you found out about mom, y/n. You don’t have anyone to hide behind, you have people hiding behind you. Snap out of it, get moving.”
“Right, right. Thank you, Sarah.”
“Yeah, well, I’ve been pretty crappy to you. We’ll have to catch up when all of this is over.” She hung up before you could answer.
You grabbed the back of snacks and limped as quickly as you could back to the car.
Hoseok was still on the phone. “They’re okay, Eomma, they’re just upset and scared. I’ll—hey!”
You had snatched the phone from him. “Emma? They broke someone out of Jail. Someone who almost killed a fox-hybrid kid that was rescued by a cat hybrid just a couple years older. That was about fifteen years ago. Sound familiar?” You asked both.
Hoseok’s eyes were huge, and he closed the car door, gulping.
“I’ll look into it.” She breathed, sounding shaken. “I’ll ask Yoongi. He’s here with his daughter. We’ll increase security here. Do you—”
“We’re going to a place that they won’t be able to connect him or you to. It’s better if I don’t say where and we’re going to turn our phones off.”
“Okay. Y/n…I know it’s asking a lot, but my kids—”
“I’ll protect them. I promise. You’ll hear from us when I know it’s safe. Hoseok,” You offered the phone to him again.
He took it. “Eomma?”
You got into the car, checking on them.
They were almost asleep already, blissfully unaware of the turn in events.
Kae sniffled. “Why is Hobi-hyung scared?”
“I accidentally snuck up on him and he got scared when he saw me,” You explained, smiling softly at him. “He doesn’t mean to worry you. Go ahead and sleep, we’re going to have a bit of a drive. Okay?”
“Okay,” He murmured, eyes already drooping.
Hoseok got into the car, handing you his phone so you could turn it off. “Where to?” He sounded worn out, and his eyes looked a little red.
“Back to the highway, for now.”
“This place we’re going…it’s safe?”
“Yeah, it should be. It was my Uncle’s place. No way for them to even connect me to you, no one can identify me, so that means anything related to me is safer. And if we end up having to leave there, then I’ll call Pete and Myka.”
“Your Uncle?”
“He was never really around, but we went to his place every summer. He was never there when we were. I think he did a lot of traveling.”
“And what inspired this idea?”
“My sister called because she caught a glimpse of me on the news, the one covering the fire. And she’d been hearing some rumors, and I guess she looked into them. She inherited my Uncles place. Told me we’d be safe there.”
“I thought…”
“So did I. Something has changed for her, I think. We haven’t spoke in six or seven years so it’s entirely possible. We don’t have many other options, and from what I remember it’s actually a pretty nice place. Here’s hoping it’s still nice. There’s a truck there, we’ll have to use that instead of this car in town. Get clothing and food, maybe some toys for them.”
“What if people think we kidnapped them?”
“Hoseok, they could be mistaken for your kids, honestly. Their fur is black, and their tails are bushy. Well, those that have tails,” You added after a pouty growl was heard.
Hoseok cracked a smile as he looked in the mirror at the kids. “You think?”
“Yup. So, if anyone asks, they’re your kids.”
He smile got a little bigger, features softening. “Our kids. Yeah. That works.”
You couldn’t bring yourself to correct him.

A/N: Part 5 and this series is increasingly difficult to write.
He set you down on the bed. “It might be an infection, but you don’t smell like you have one. I have to check on the kids quickly. Then I want to take your temperature.” You nodded, too exhausted and emotionally drained to respond further. You were cold again, but if anything more than your feet were covered you started roasting again. Thankfully your nausea had passed for now, but he still had put a small trash can in the bed beside you just in case. “I’ll be right back,” he promised, then you heard his footsteps hastily retreating. You closed your eyes, listening as he darted down the hallway. He called all of their names then went racing past your room and downstairs, you could hear his voice rise in relief, then it was quiet again. You heard him coming back up the stairs after what felt like no time at all and forever. He walked in, muttering about them being trouble, and going to sit on the other half of the bed. “Nari’s figures out how to work the tv and DVD player. They’re watching I Love Lucy.” You smiled. “Good show. Safe for kids. Probably keep them occupied for a while.” “Yeah. They’re just getting so big so fast.” He sighed and the bed shifted slightly as he got comfortable. “I was right about to start a new book…you want me to read to you?” “I thought you wanted to take my temp?” “Oh, right, sorry.” he scrambled off to get the thermometer, coming back quickly. “Open.” You opened your mouth and let him stick the thermometer in. He pet your hair while you both waited, and took the thermometer when it beeped. “99. So you do have a bit of a fever. I know you can’t keep anything down right now, so giving you medicine isn’t an option. If it persists then we’ll take you to the doctor.” You sighed. “Hoseok-hyung? We’re hungry.” A little voice squeaked from the doorway. Hoseok sighed. “Kaemonnie, I just asked all of you if you were hungry.” “We weren’t…” “It’s been three minutes!” Hoseok objected, his voice quieter, probably from turning toward the pup. “We’re hungry now…”
Hoseok sighed in exasperation. “Clear off the couch for y/n. You okay with listening to the TV?” You smiled and nodded. “It’s entertaining enough.” Hoseok picked you up carefully. “I’d let you stay here, but I need to keep an eye on both you and the triplets and it’s much easier said than done. Especially with how…mobile they are.” You laughed softly. “They grow up fast and are always watching.” You let yourself be comfortable in his arms, not wanting to risk hurting yourself or making yourself sick. Again. Maybe if you were relaxed this time you wouldn’t get sick. Though that gentle kiss on your forehead certainly wasn’t doing your heart any favors. He carried you down the stairs, following behind Kaemon from the sound of things. “A little faster, Monnie.” “But I might fall,” Kae whimpered softly. “Kae, I don’t know how long Hoseok-oppa can carry me, could you let him pass you?” “Oh, okay!” He chirped. You felt Hobi move, and then you were both continuing down the stairs. “It’s not carrying you that I’m worried about,” Hoseok murmured. He placed a kiss on your head again. Part of you wanted to scream at him to stop kissing your head, the other part of you wanted to beg for more. The contradiction made you a little nauseous again. This man. “You’ve gone pale again.” His voice was laced with worry. You shuddered at the feeling that his words sent through you. He seemed to move faster, then set you onto the couch. Then he was feeling your forehead and throat. He growled in worry. “Maybe we should go to the doctor after all.” Twin growls were heard to your left. “Don’t you growl at me,” Hoseok scolded. Tiny footsteps rushed over. “What are we growling about?” “He’s trying to take her back to the doctor,” Minsu growled lightly, a pout obvious in his voice. Kaemon immediately started growling, but his had a whine laced through it. “Really?” Hoseok muttered. Nari’s growl got closer. “She can’t go back. We won’t let you take her.” Her little face burrowed into your uninjured leg. “It smelled and they took her away from us. They can’t have her. I won’t let them have her.” She sounded like she was crying. “I-uh-o-okay. Just, calm down,” Hoseok said, pulling her away from them. He sounded conflicted. “Nari, Kaemon, Minsu,” You said softly. “I might need to go to the doctor. They have medicines to help people who are hurt or sick. When they took me away it was to help me. I was very hurt, wasn’t I?” Someone sniffled. “Yes.” “And they helped me, didn’t they?” “Yes, noona,” The boys chorused. “Unnie…” Nari pouted, somehow getting back to your leg. “She’s still not completely well. She can get sick and if she does then she won’t get better,” Hoseok told them, adopting the same gentle tone. “I’m trying to take care of her, but we might need them to help her more. If she started getting sick, I have to take her to the doctor. Because I don’t want her getting worse. Do you?” “No, Hobi,” Three voices answered soberly. “Alright. You three be careful around her, I’ll make you lunch.” He sounded tired. Guilt started gnawing at your stomach again. “Hey, whoa, you okay?” He sounded worried, a hand gently stroking your hair. “Stop. Please stop,” You breathed. His hand left your hair faster than you could imagine. “Did I hurt you? Did Nari?” You squeezed your eyes shut. “No. Sorry. No.” You pressed into the couch. He doesn’t want you, you’re causing him trouble. He’s only taking care of you because of instincts. “Hey, I told you to talk to me if your mind started racing again,” He said softly, hand resting on your shoulder. “Maybe we need to talk to them about different medicine for you.” You couldn’t respond. Nari rubbed her face into your leg gently. “Hobi, kiss and make it better.” She sounded heartbroken. “Uh, oh, Nari. Um, that only works if parents and siblings do it.” “Where’s her mommy? Or her daddy?” Minsu asked, getting closer. “We could get them to come kiss it better.” “Her parent’s are too far away, Min-min and she doesn’t have siblings. We’ll just have to take especially good care of her.” Hoseok’s voice sounded cheerful, but there was a strain to it that you hoped the kids wouldn’t notice. “I’ll get you some crackers to try and eat, maybe some ginger-ale.” You nodded, resting against the couch, tuning into the I Love Lucy episode on the television instead of the pouting kids and the too-kind man. But you heard his heavy sigh, and the deep sniff he took. “It really doesn’t smell like an infection,” He murmured, sounding puzzled, then he went to the kitchen with a limp likely produced by one of the munchkins hanging off of his leg. You wished you could see how cute of a sight that must be. Nari was hugging your good leg, but she seemed to be calmer now. You weren’t sure which of the boys was immersed in the show and which was hanging off of Hoseok, but the one watching was starting to giggle now and then. You forced yourself to relax, knowing you weren’t helping yourself by getting upset. But it was so hard to stay calm around him. Especially with everything you knew about his thoughts and love life and— You groaned softly, shifting to a new position ever so slightly. Nari climbed up and lay on your good leg, hugging it. “Ah, Nari! Be careful,” Hoseok scolded from some distance, around the same area that the commotion that spoke of cooking came from. Running water, clinking utensils, the clicking of a gas stove, and the soft whump as the gas lit. You could hear him open and close the fridge, and the chime of dishes as they met the counter. A squeak of surprise followed by a thump on the floor, and a giggle from Nari. “You wouldn’t fall off if you sit still, Minsu-ah!” Nari’s voice was full of affection for her brother, parroting something her parents or older siblings might say to them. Minsu giggled suddenly and didn’t stop, starting to squeal with laughter. “A little quieter, babies,” Hoseok said gently, his voice closer and soft. Loving. You could imagine him talking to his own kids in a tone like that, maybe with that smile he wore the day you met him when he was greeting the triplets. Brighter than the sun, yet so gently and lovingly. Your heart broke a little when you imagined a little child with his furry ears and tail, curled up in his arms…and a different woman at his side. Because he’d made it clear that it would never be you. ———— Five days. Five agonizing days after throwing up in front of him, you woke up and could hazily make out where the windows were, and the open door to the hallway. You could see where things were lighter. You could see when three small blobs blocked some of the light from the doorway as well as hear their curious whispers. Emma came in and checked on you, carrying breakfast with her. “Hoseok is going to take you to the doctor so they can see how everything is healing up. That okay?” You nodded, biting your cheek. She was quiet for a moment. “He’s not bothering you, is he?” “Not in the way you mean,” You replied softly. She laughed softly. “He’s a sweetheart, isn’t he?” She sat down on the edge of the bed. “Has been since I got him.” You sighed. “He’s too good to me. He barely knows me.” “He heard about you before he met you. The kids adore you and you’ve helped me out so much. Not to mention you helped save my kids. You’re the good kind, hon. It’s surprisingly hard to come by. Trust me, it’s basically my job to look for those kinds of people.” Emma sighed, but there was a bit of a laugh in there. “Which has been put on the sidelines while I take up my old job of organizing my brother’s company so as they tackle about half of the damage to the city. It’s like all the other construction companies turned tail and fled.” “I thought you worked at the Sanctuary?” “I do, I manage the funds at the Sanctuary and organize the staff. I’m technically the owner. Most of the time I just go in to deal with some financial issues. Now I’m directing construction crews to their projects.” She sounded worried. “The town is a mess.” “I’ll see it soon. I can see where it’s lighter today.” “Really? That’s great. That’s so good.” She took your hands and squeezed them gently. “I’m so happy for you.” You nodded. “It’s about time. I was starting to think it would never happen.” She stroked your hair gently. “Let’s get you cleaned up.” You smiled. “Yes, please.” The two of you maneuvered into the bathroom, your leg secured so that you couldn’t damage it. It was safe for you to do so now. You felt so much better after getting cleaned up and dressed. Jin carried you downstairs after. “Morning, y/n-noona!” Minsu chirped happily. “Good morning, Minsu. Kaemon, Nari.” They chirped around their breakfasts. “Good morning,” Hoseok said, his voice bright and kind and ugh. Ugh. You smiled. “Good morning.” Oh god, were you blushing? You better not be blushing. “Alright, my pups! Time to go. Your eomma has to work, and we’re going to go visit your cousin Timothy and aunt Becca and Namjoon-ssi.” Jin announced, his voice moving around the room after setting you down and collecting his pups from the sound of their giggles. “Hoseok, there’s some chicken in the fridge for dinner. We’re going to eat with Micheal and Becca.” Emma was also moving around. “Eomma, take it easy today,” Hosoek said, concern clear in his voice. “You’re pregnant, you shouldn’t be working too hard.” “I can hardly work at all between you, Jin, and Mike. I’m not doing anything strenuous and I have five or six assistants. You worry about y/n. Let Jin and Mike worry about me today. Remember, her appointment is at ten-thirty.” “I remember,” He answered, sounding a little amused. He was coming toward you. He set something in front of you. “Eggs and bacon.” You smiled. “Thank you.” You felt around the table and found the fork, then found the edge of the plate. From there you managed to sort of feed yourself. You found the strips of bacon easily, but getting the eggs from the plate to your mouth was troublesome. You tried a spoon, but it was still hard. “May I?” Hoseok asked softly, coming over and sitting in the chair next to yours. You nodded. “Otherwise I’ll be here all day.” You hated it, but what else could you do. “This would be a lot harder if you were a hybrid,” He said casually. “A hybrid with injuries like these wouldn’t let me anywhere near them unless they were a kids, or a female fox.” You closed your eyes, feeling a headache coming on from your limited vision. “I can see a bit today.” “Really?!” You could tell he was grinning. “Only where the light is. So, it’s a little harder here because the light seems to be everywhere.” He put an arm around you, pulling you into a sort of half-hug. He rubbed his head against yours gently, one of his fluffy ears brushing across your cheek. “Still, that’s fantastic. And your wounds are healing so well.” “We should get going,” You said. If ever you were to blush, it would be now. He made a sort of squeak sound. “Right, uh, let me go get dressed. You okay here for now?” You nodded. “Anything left on my plate?” “Another strip of bacon.” “I’ll eat that while you go change.” You felt around for your bacon, and then picked it up. He darted away, footsteps taking him upstairs, but they were just as quick to come back and then he was scooping you up. “Let’s go, y/n-ssi!” He spoke with a silly voice that made you smile. The hospital was a mess of noises and smells, and the nurse that was checking your wounds was an absolute jerk. He acted like your ability to see where light was brighter was insignificant, and when Hoseok told him about your nausea and problems with anxiety he just said they’d check for infection. Both of you waited for two hours in a room, only for the nurse to breeze back in and unhook the I.V. they put you on when one of the other nurses said you looked a little dehydrated. “There’s no infection. We’ll see about changing the medication we have her on. Extreme stress could be exacerbating her condition and bringing on the nausea and racing thoughts..” The nurse was talking to Hoseok as if you weren’t even there. “If she continues to have problems like this, it would be best to remove the stress from around her. Or her from the stress. Whichever is easier.” “Thanks,” Hoseok murmured. “Oh, we were wondering if there was some sort of brace we could use as well as her bandages to protect her leg?” “I don’t think any are made in a way that would be safe for her injuries, but I’ll send someone to look through the different models.” The nurse retreated quickly. “Slacking jerk,” Hoseok muttered, then took the two steps over to your side and stroked a hand over your hair. “Feeling better?” You nodded slightly. He was quiet, hand resting on the top of your head, still. “Are you being honest or are you just saying that so we can leave?” “I think it’s a little bit of both right now,” You murmured, closing your eyes. “It smells.” “It does,” He agreed, laughing a little. “And it’s noisy.” “Really noisy,” You agreed, smiling a little. They had given you something along with the I.V. and you felt a little groggy. But you also felt overly sensitive to sound and smell. He chuckled softly. “Hey…are the kids stressing you too much?” “No, they’re fine. They’re so sweet,” You said, but the thought of everything you still had to deal with came to mind. The hospital bills, the expense for a new apartment, where you would work once you recovered, how you would get Hoseok out of your head. “Then what is stressing you? Because I can tell you’re stressed as well as in pain.” His fingers slid through your hair. You shook your head. “Besides everything I’ll have to do once I heal…things I have to do before I heal.” He made a thoughtful sound. “Right, should you talk to your insurance? Or maybe the bank?” “Insurance yes, and my accountant. I haven’t talked to him since just after the incident and it was just to let him know I was alive.” You sighed and shifted so you could lean against him. He shifted and pulled your head to his shoulder. He smelled faintly of peppermint, probably from the tea he had been drinking before claiming it was a sad excuse for tea and setting it aside. He nuzzled your hair. “Do you need to call or go in person?” “Call.” “Numbers in your phone?” “Should be.” “I’ll find them for you when we get back. Taehyung said I should call when I get the chance. I think he’s feeling lonely. He spends most of the day watching Yoongi’s daughter. Yoongi…he’s sort of my cousin but more like my brother. He was adopted by Emma’s brother back before the laws were repealed.” His voice spoke volumes. He obviously regarded Yoongi as a very close brother, not as lightly as he claimed. You pondered it for a couple moments. “He saved you from a bad owner?” He flinched. “That nurse should be back by now.” “Sorry, I shouldn’t have pried.” “It’s not that. It’s just…Yoongi remembers what happened more than I do. I just remember pain. And fear. And I can find and see the scars. Like this one,” He said, guiding your fingers up and through his hair. You could barely feel it, but you could tell it had been surgical. It was too straight and long to be anything else. “Did they…?” “The doctors did that. I’d had repeated concussions, and they had to do surgery when Yoongi brought me to the hospital. I don’t have any real memories from before, just impressions, feelings, and slurred voices that I couldn’t recognize again if I tried. It’s not all bad, it helped me move on faster but it also hindered me from recovering mentally as quickly as someone who could remember why they were terrified.” He slid his hand along yours until his fingers were tangled with yours and he pulled it from his head. “Either way, the past is in the past. I got something much better from all that trouble. I have a family, and freedom. Who knows, maybe it was meant to be this way.” You nodded. “Sometimes the families we create ourselves are better than the ones we’re born into.” He pressed a kiss to your hand. Was he trying to drive you mad? “That’s very true.” “You’re very…physical.” “Uh…” “I mean, with affection. You’re always…” “Oh.” He chuckled, but sounded a little embarrassed. “I am. Sorry. When I care about someone, I just…I tend to let it show.” Right, and he was emotionally invested in your well-being since he witnessed you getting hurt. He couldn’t help it. It was instinctual. Once you were better, he’d be released from the drive to take care of you and everything would be nearly as it was before. You would be find a way to get over him.

Angst with fluffs: 2,004 words
A/N: Part 4, after what seems like forever, I’m posting the fourth part. I hope you like it. I’m working on the fifth part and I’ll finish that just as soon as I finish Namjoon’s part of Pack Trials (it’s at about 4.5k right now and I’m aiming for 6k like the others), a valentines day post is also in the works, and apparently that Taehyung post is expected to be a series so...we’ll see if there’s actually going to be another part to it. Actually, I have a lot in the works. I’m updating all of the masterposts and putting in images and stuff. Let me know what you think of both this and the updated masterposts (which should be updated in the next couple days).
Life was playing a cruel prank on you. Sure, you couldn’t see Hoseok to pine after or fall in love with him. You could just smell and hear him. You could almost taste him. He assaulted your remaining senses, slowly driving you closer to the insanity of just telling him. But then you’d have to try and interpret the silence. You would be suffocated by the tension and awkwardness that even the triplets couldn’t diffuse. No. It was better if those feelings didn’t exist. That you didn’t find him more attractive than any man you had ever dated or met. That he didn’t strike you as one of the most compassionate and gentle men in existence. And he was absolutely oblivious to what you felt. Which was how it should be. Especially after you heard Minsu asking about Hoseok's girlfriend. The pup sounded like he would like to throw said girlfriend off a relatively tall building. You didn’t hear the response, but a pouty Minsu was soon cuddling up to your side and faltering as he worked on his reading with you. He sounded close to crying when he first came in, gasping little breaths and voice wobbling, but he was calmer now. More focused on the book. “Min…ah. Sorry, Y/n. I told them not to bug you.” Hoseok’s voice broke the silence that had fallen as Minsu wrote out a word that you had just taught him. “I’m bored out of my mind,” You laughed softly. “I’m just helping Minsu work on his reading. He’s not bugging me at all.” “I’m being good, Hyung. I asked first,” Min-min squeaked. “Okay…I have to call my…friend…” Minsu breathed in a slight growl, almost unheard by you even though he was in your arms and your hearing was somewhat stronger due to the loss of sight. You bit your lip, finding his head and stroking his hair before rubbing his ears, hoping to calm him. “Okay. Did you want to send Nari and Kaemon in here so that you know where they are while you’re making the call?” “I don’t think so. They’re working together on some addition and subtraction equations and my call shouldn’t take that long. Do you need anything?” You shook your head. “Not as long as my water glass is full.” You heard him come in and take it. “It’s almost empty. I’ll refill it and bring it back. Minsu, we will talk about what happened earlier once you finish that book.” There was a slight whine from the boy beside you. “Don’t wanna.” “Too bad. I’ll be right back.” Hoseok’s steps retreated. Minsu huffed and cuddled a little closer. “I don’t like her. She smells funny. She doesn’t smile at us for real. She wrinkles her nose whenever eomma is around. Why can’t you be with him?” You took a deep breath. “Minsu, don’t say things like that. You’ll understand when you’re older.” You stroked his ears, then placed a small kiss on his head. “Your brother and I just met. Minsu sniffed. “So? You’re the best. You and mommy are friends. And Hobi-hyung’s tail gets bushier when he sees you. You get all pink and smiley when he’s around too, like Jiminie-hyung when he’s around Ariel-noona. Or mommy when she’s around daddy. Or Aunt Becca around Uncle Mike.” “Oh, Min…” You whispered. “I wish it were that simple.” You pulled him into your arms. “Now, let’s finish the book.” He sighed and kept reading, some of the words garbled and his frustration mounting. He stopped, taking deep breaths to calm down while you stroked his ears. “It’s hard. Why is it hard? The letters keep changing.” You hummed thoughtfully. “It’s okay, Minsu. Just take your time. We’ll work through it all. It’s just going to take patience and perseverance.” He flipped the page. “Okay, y/n. You’ll help me, right?” “As much as I can,” You confirmed, leaning over to nuzzle his head lovingly. His hair and fur were soft and silky, and he smelled nice. He made a soft sound of contentment, then you felt him move so he could sniff at your bandages. Then climbed up to kiss your cheek and then play with your hair. “Can we be done for now?” “Your brother will be back soon, so yes.” He ran his small fingers through your hair, humming slightly. “Hobi-hyung is going to be our teacher. When Mommy can’t do it anymore. He’s got a degree and everything.” “Really? Are you excited?” “Yeah, he’s the coolest. He helped me learn the alphabet. He was gone for long time because of school. We missed him lots and lots. He visited lots, too. If he’s teaching us, then he’ll be staying.” He went still for a moment. “Right?” He sounded so worried. “I’m staying, Min-min,” Hoseok said. You flinched, startled by his sudden reappearance, then winced as Minsu plopped back down on the bed in his own surprise. “Promise?” Minsu finally asked. “Promise, now, go wait for me in your room while I check y/n’s bandages.” He walked in and scooped the boy up, earning a squeal, then you heard smaller footsteps rushing out of your room. The bed sunk as Hoseok sat on the edge. There was a slight tug on the book in your hands and you let go. “I’ll put that away.” You nodded a little. “He can only read for a little while before he gets frustrated. Especially when he’s already upset. Normally I’m able to help him through the words. Help him keep his place.” You splayed your fingers across the blanket, shivering. He sighed. “I…I know it’s frustrating. The doctors said it was temporary, though.” You didn’t have a response to that. You took a deep breath while he examined your wounds, unwrapping the bandages and applying the medicine. “Minsu is…headstrong. Passionate. He gets some ideas in his head and they just don’t come out.” He was quiet for a moment. “I suppose he talked about her.” “Her…your girlfriend? The one he dislikes? He may have mentioned something about her.” You smiled a little. “Kids can be a little…dramatic.” “She’s not my girlfriend,” He groaned. “She was the other student teacher at the school I was interning at for my last semester and we were carpooling. We stopped by here a couple times for dinner because we were both broke college students and Emma was more than happy to feed us. Because Jimin brought Ariel around, Minsu just sort of assumed it was the same thing and it isn’t. We didn’t get along like that. But explaining that to a five-year-old is hard.” “It is,” You agreed, trying not to let your happiness show. He didn’t have a girlfriend. “I wouldn’t dare bring a girlfriend around them unless I knew she was the one. They’re too important to me. I have too many goals to worry about a girlfriend right now.” Your heart dropped again, and suddenly you felt nauseous. You wanted to blame the pain medicine, but you weren’t even sure that you could speak. “Hey, you okay? You look pretty pale all of a sudden,” He said, feeling your forehead. His hand was warm against your skin. “Mmm, stomach,” You breathed, trying to breath evenly so that you wouldn’t puke on him. That definitely wouldn’t help your case. “How bad?” You hummed uncertainly, uncomfortable with the whole situation all of a sudden. “I think I’m okay…” “You feel clammy,” He murmured. “Let’s get you to the bathroom so I can at least change the bandages on your leg.” You nodded, pushing yourself up a bit so that he could pick you up more easily. You weren’t allowed to even walk using crutches. As it was, he had to be very careful lifting you and had actually spent an hour learning the proper procedure to take care of you from the nurses at the hospital, which only made you feel guilty. He lifted you gently, pulling your body against his. He was warm and his presence comforting while also off-putting. “Hey, relax, I’ve got you. It’s okay.” His tone betrayed that he was smiling. “It’s not okay. I feel useless. I knew it wouldn’t be easy but it’s...I can’t even help them read. I just have to guess what they’re trying to read or tell them to spell it out to me. I can’t get to the bathroom on my own. I jump at the slightest noises and the pain medicine makes my thoughts race.” You closed your eyes. “It’s not okay. If I had just been a little faster—” “Hey,” He cut you off. “That thing about your thoughts racing, I believe it. I told you, it’s going to be okay. We volunteered for this, y/n. We volunteered to take care of you. I volunteered to take care of you. I knew what it would entail. I can see your injuries…” He choked slightly. “I carried you to the hospital. Do you understand what that does to hybrids?” “Not exactly,” You answered, breathing shakily. He carefully set you down, guiding your injured leg carefully to a spot that was elevated. He sighed. “Not only would the kids have panicked, gone almost feral, but I would have to. Seeing you get injured, carrying you to the hospital as you bled on me…my instincts were going crazy in the hospital. I could barely let you out of my sight. I have this need to take care of you and protect you, and I can’t fight it. I can’t change how the medicine affects you, but I can talk to you when your mind starts racing. Don’t worry about me minding taking care of you or being useless. I need to do this. If I had grabbed you faster, if I had pulled you up the moment I caught hold of you, or found a way to stretch down farther so you wouldn’t have stepped on that new spot, if, if, if—there are a hundred thousand different things that in retrospect could have been done differently…but many of those would have resulted in your death. We both chose to protect them. The kids. My baby siblings. You didn’t have to help them.” “Of course I did,” You argued weakly, feeling sick. You grabbed his arm before he continued applying the medicine to your leg. His other hand came to your face. “Stomach?” You nodded, fighting against it. You did not want to throw up in front of him. You probably already looked like a mess, your hair felt nasty to the touch, but because of your stitches you couldn’t wash it. Not to mention you couldn’t see to wash it. He felt your forehead, his skin cool against yours. “I think you might have a bit of a fever…” He sounded concerned, like he was looking away from you, but he still stayed right beside you. You just shrugged a bit, too busy trying not to throw up to give him a real response. He sighed softly, probably thinking it was inaudible, and guilt rained on you again. He kissed your forehead beside the bandage. “Yeah. You feel too warm. Are you feeling warm or cold?” “Warm,” You managed to choke out. He nodded, humming softly. “Can you sit up on your own for a second while I get a thermometer?” You nodded, bracing yourself. He went a couple steps away and opened something. You could hear him rummaging around, then the quiet sound of satisfaction when he found it and then he was coming back to you… Nausea overwhelmed you and you threw up into the tub. He quickly caught you before you could fall and hurt your leg more, pulling your hair away from your face and gently rubbing your back. “It’s okay, don’t worry about it,” He murmured when tears started sneaking down your face. “Shh, it’s okay.”

A/N: It’s not my best work. Seriously. I’m sorry. I struggled with this a lot.
“Are you sure about this? What if they don’t like me?” “Y/n, relax. Hoseok already likes you, and I love you so Eomma and Appa will love you too. So will Jungkookie and the triplets.” “Oh gosh, the triplets. What are their names again?” You asked, wringing your hands in the passenger seat. “Minsu, Nari, and Kaemon. Minsu doesn’t have a tail, Kaemon has human ears, that’s how you tell them apart. Relax, the triplets love easily. Kae is the only one you need to be careful around. He’ll warm up to you after a while, just respect his space. He’ll come to you.” Jimin pulled up to the house and parked in his spot, then turned to you. You looked back at him, chewing your lip nervously. “Maybe I shouldn’t have—” “Then you’d be spending Thanksgiving alone. Your parents are on the other side of the country. I love you. You’ll be fine. I’ll be right beside you all day.” Jimin leaned over with a purr and kissed you. “Come on. I want you to meet my family.” You finally got out of the car, carrying the cheesecake you had made for today. He kept purring, trying to comfort you. “It’ll be fine. I promise.” He opened the door and held it for you. You hesitantly stepped inside, immediately inhaling the mouth-watering scent of turkey cooked to perfection and the subtle undertones of a fire in a fireplace. Jimin’s purr got even louder. “Eomma? Appa? I’m home and I brought y/n!” You heard the soft murmur of conversation suddenly turn excited and you gave Jimin a panicked look before a small, knee-high blur of black hair and a red sweater hit Jimin’s legs. “Jimin-ssi!” “You little gremlin, that’s hyung to you,” Jimin laughed, scooping up the child and tossing him into the air before cuddling up with him. “Jimin-ssi!” The boy said again, grinning and then rubbing his nose against Jimin’s. Jimin then tucked the boy up to his neck, both of them scenting each other lovingly. “Missed you, Min-min.” Your heart was bubbling over with warmth at seeing how loving Jimin was with the child and your mind drifted to wondering what he might be like when he was a father. Your head was screeching in panic at meeting his family. Your stomach felt like a stone. Jimin turned with Minsu toward you. “Minsu, this is y/n. My girlfriend.” The boy smiled at you. “Hi!” He was waving. You managed to smile and wave back. Both Jimin and Minsu looked concerned. Minsu beat Jimin to speaking. “Are you scared? We’re not scary! I promise! Well, Yoongi-hyung can be scary. So can Namjoon-hyung. And Appa, when we’ve been naughty. But we’re not scary.” You looked at Jimin. “Does it really show?” He purred with slight amusement. “Come here, y/n. We’ll go out there together.” He set Minsu down. You let him tuck you into his side, and the two of you following Minsu into the kitchen and living room. “Eomma!” Minsu called, running over to the only other woman in the room. A human. Right. Jimin had said she was a human. She looked over and smiled softly, coming over and hugging Jimin. Kissing his cheek, then turning to you and smiling welcomingly. “Y/n? I’m Emma. It’s a pleasure to meet you. Jimin has told us so much about you.” “I brought cheesecake,” You squeaked out, holding out the carrier. She grinned. “Great! I’ll put it in the kitchen.” She took it carefully and walked toward the kitchen. Jimin’s father came over and greeted you, and it wasn’t as scary since you had met him before. “Y/n, we’re so happy you’re joining us for Thanksgiving! We were actually just asking Jimin when we would meet you.” Jimin hissed in embarrassment. “Appa—” Hoseok came over, laughing. “Really, we were. Last friday when Yoongi-hyung got here we didn’t know we would have the pleasure of you joining us.” “Yoongi’s still here, right?” Jimin suddenly was searching the room. “He’s upstairs with the baby,” Jin replied, hand brushing through Minsu’s hair, the child clinging happily to his leg now. A bunny-hybrid (Jungkook, right?) peeked over Hoseok’s shoulder. He looked at you then nodded. “You’re right. She’s even prettier in person, hyung.” You blushed, glancing at Jimin. “Yah! What’s wrong with you?!” Jimin lunged at his brothers, leaving you looking at the three men playfully wrestling with a little surprise. Minsu dove onto the pile, followed by a little girl and another boy and it turned into a tickle fight, the three older boys tickling the younger three kids. Jin chuckled. Soon the pile was just the triplets cuddling and scenting Jimin as if he hadn’t been there in forever when he had just been there yesterday. Kae was the first to frown and pull away, wrinkling his nose. “You have a funny smell on you.” Minsu batted his brother. “It’s his girlfriend, silly. Smells good.” Kaemon’s gaze shifted to you and he shrunk back, hiding behind Hoseok. “It’s okay, Kaemonnie,” Jimin murmured softly. “Take your time. She’s just going to join us for dinner.” Kaemon slowly nodded after he saw you nod and gently smile at him. He studied you from behind Hoseok for a couple minutes, then scrambled behind the other canine-hybrid that came over with a monkey-hybrid that was grinning. Jimin got to his feet. “Uh, anyway. Y/n, this is Jungkook, Namjoon, Taehyung, Kaemon, and this little pup is Nari!” He scooped up the little girl and cuddled her lovingly. She relaxed into his arms, making soft noises of happiness. The soft smell of lilac wafted through the room. You dipped your head. “Nice to meet you all.” Namjoon smiled back at you. Jimin came back to your side, taking your hand. “They don’t normally live here. Just during the holidays. Yoongi-hyung will be down soon. He just adopted the cutest little kitten. Poor thing was abandoned.” Jimin had a slight growl in his voice at the last word. “It’s in the past now,” A new voice said. You turned toward the cat-hybrid that must have been Yoongi. He had a small baby in his arms, and a small giggle came from the bundle along with the smell of vanilla and sugar cookies. Yoongi purred happily. “Hyung, this is y/n. My girlfriend.” Yoongi smiled softly. “Pleased to meet you.” You hesitantly nodded toward the baby. “May I?” He nodded, letting you go over and look at the baby. You could see injuries on her, starting to heal now, but still far too recent. You could smell the medicine that was put on some injury you couldn’t see. “She’s a maine coon and american shorthair mix,” You said, finger tracing over the infant’s ear. He looked at you in surprise. “Y/n specializes in hybrid breeds. Specifically medical anomalies associated with mixing breeds and species in infants,” Jimin explained, rubbing his head against your shoulder. “She’s really good at identifying breeds, even mixed ones.” Yoongi looked at you curiously. “You sure?” “The shape of her ears, her markings, the fact that her fur is between short and long-hair. It narrows it down to a few species. What about her tail?” You asked, knowing it was one of the best confirmations. He tensed. “Got cut off halfway down.” You felt your eyes narrow, and Jimin’s arms around your waist tightened when a growl slowly started in your throat. “What? Who would…ugh. Never mind. I know. She’s obviously better with you. Listen to that healthy purr.” You heard your own voice soften and the purr that came from Jimin said he found the change adorable. “Food’s ready. Hands washed. Jimin, find out what y/n would like for a drink?” Emma called out, taking dishes to the table. Jimin nuzzled into your neck. “What do you want, baby?” “Water. Just water.” You cuddled back into him. “Am I doing okay?” “You’re doing great, baby. Go take a seat, I’ll be there in a second.” You went over somewhat nervously, taking a seat on one side. Jimin came with glasses of water for both of you and sat down on one side. His tail wrapping around your ankle to comfort you a little. He seemed to know that while you found his family nice and welcoming you were still nervous about making a good impression. Kaemon clambered into the seat next to you, perching on the seat and offering you a shy smile. “I sit here?” You smiled back, then nodded. You knew it took him a lot to build up the courage to sit there next to you. Minsu leaned on his elbows. “Are you and Jimin-hyung going to get married?” Emma lightly whapped the pre-schooler’s arms. “No elbows on the table.” You were sure your face looked like a tomato. At the very least you felt like you could fry an egg on your face. Jimin chuckled, purring slightly. “Maybe.” He caught your eye. “What do you think, baby?” You trapped his tail against your ankle with your other foot, making your threat clear. He cleared his throat, suddenly looking nervous. “Uh, right. Anyway, Kae, do you need help?” You looked over saw him struggling to cut some of his turkey. He looked up at you, then offered the utensils to you. You took them, cutting the meat up for him. “There.” The boy caught your hand and rubbed his cheek against the back of it. “Thank you.” You swallowed your weird purr, smiling at him. “You’re welcome.” He gave you a sweet smile, and you could see both of his parents in him. Adorable. Way too adorable. Minsu started talking to you about his lessons and about Jimin, telling you stories in an adorable way that had Jimin blushing and complaining weakly. Minsu just seemed to draw encouragement from his older brother’s protests and the chuckles of the rest of his family. Kaemon kept looking to you when he needed help, even though his Mom was sitting on his other side. You made it through the dinner, following Jimin and two cuddly pre-schoolers into the living room. Jimin sat with you, pulling both boys up to sit with the two of you. They were out before you two even finished getting comfortable. Jimin leaned over and kissed you. He tasted like the cranberry sauce that he appeared to love so much. “See? Told you it’d be fine. They love you.” He was purring and he kissed you again. You leaned into the kiss, finally letting your own garbled purr out.
