5. What’s the fic you’re most proud of?

i might have to go with “’Mr Barrow Has The Flu,’” which is a downton abbey fic i wrote about a year ago. i feel like i nailed my characterization on that one, and did justice to a topic/relationship that i really wanted to see on the show but that got largely ignored. it’s not my most ambitious fic by any means but i’m really happy with it! 

runners up include “Phantom Fangs” (wwdits), which was genuinely just something i wrote because i needed something to do but, in retrospect, it is kind of significant, and “Necrophilia Variations” (also wwdits), which i think i was just very clever about in a number of different ways lol

9. Which character(s) do you find most difficult to write?

idk, if i find them too difficult to write, i just don’t write them 😂 but ok actually...i do find nandor’s pov very tricky! in my current supernatural adventures, i am struggling a bit with raphael and michael — i am learning a lot about them by trying to write them, but i don’t intuitively Get them like i feel i Get gabriel and lucifer :p

16. Any guilty pleasure trope(s)?

uhhh...hm. this is interesting, because technically i think no, there are not any tropes i enjoy that i feel guilty about enjoying, but there are tropes that i don’t often publicly talk about enjoying for ??? reasons. i have literally no idea why this is, because like...i go by “sin” lol. i’m not very subtle about being Like This, and yet! (sorry this is a non-answer lmao)

in terms of writing, the most genuine answer to this is that i feel that the line between angst and fluff is razor thin, and i love to walk the line, but i’d often err on the side of fluff than angst, at least when it comes to story resolution :p that’s not very embarrassing but i think of myself as liking tragedy...but then i make stuff (bitter)sweet instead...oh well hahahha

I was reading the recent interview with Harvey in Looper (h/t to @safetyhazardfics for linking it), and it got me thinking a bit more about why I generally don’t feel very strongly about whether the show ends up making Guillermo a vampire or not.

Harvey pretty explicitly states that Guillermo wants to be a vampire so badly because he sees it as an immediate shortcut to self-acceptance, and his overall arc in the show relates to how he’s learning to be more comfortable with himself. But you can’t speedrun learning self-acceptance, and maybe on some level Guillermo has been in denial about the fact that if he gets turned into a vampire, he’s still going to have all these things about himself he’s been taught to be ashamed of.

(Which, I think in retrospect is part of why I like Guillermo’s arc in season 3. He has the moment of triumph and assertion of his power, and then it’s like: now what? Who does he want to be now that he knows he has this power, and how does he actually get there?)

The same dark anger that had caused him to leave the house rushed through him again and he felt his fingers twitch towards one of the many stakes he had hidden away in his coat.

The latest line isn’t all that interesting since the chapter is mostly finished. So here’s a fun bit I thought would be a little more fun to read. For anyone who’s interested, this is from my fic titled What Comes Next.
