PICTURES COMPILATION OF FINDINGS FROM MY RESEARCH-WEEK 11
Some questions in the field of Food Safety in relation to the barriers and challenges of food vendors have been explored to identify answers which are able to influence policies. On the other hand, there is little on the driving forces (opportunities/influences) to food vending operations in the field of food safety.
Therefore my thesis will be able to weigh in on food vendors with a new insight on the barriers and driving force to safer, hygienic, and nutritious food provision.
Based on the research objectives, the following research question is address in this study:
Research Question: What are the barriers and driving forces school food vendors face in providing safer , nutritious and healthy food for school children in Winneba Municipality, Ghana?
Some aspect of my data have been compiled in picture form, in order to obtain an overview of the data that was collected and how to proceed with that.
The data collected have six main selected categories, which guided my study.
· Food Safety
· Hygiene of the Environment
· Personal Hygiene
· Healthy Food and Quality
· Institutional Legislative and Law Control
· Operation Benefits

Food safety is everyone’s business in schools and daycare centres.
This short document outlines the importance of food safety, the benefits and how food safety can be improved in schools and daycare centres.
SCHOOL AUTHORITIES Meet regulatory food safety requirements in food halls and cafeterias by: - having a food safety supervisor with the training, skills and knowledge to ensure that all regulations are followed, such as hand washing with clean water before handling food; - ensuring a food safety management programme is set up, such as Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and meets local requirements. - Provide food safety training to all staff and parents involved in meal preparation and service. - Include food safety in food literacy curricula to ensure food safety is embedded in social norms as children grow and develop. - Promote the use of WHO's Five Keys to Safer Food by teachers and students.
TEACHERS AND SCHOOL STAFF - Ensure children wash their hands with soap and clean water before and after consuming food and after going to the bathroom. - Reach out and involve families in food safety protocols by sharing information about how to correctly store food brought from home. - Teach children early about how to prepare and handle food safely. This equips young people with knowledge and habits for later in life.
