The discussion around Ariel TheLittleMermaid baffles me bc if my dad literally destroyed a bunch of stuff I collected in front of me in a terrifyingly violent display of anger and I had a witch offer me an out if I could score the boy I thought was hot, my name would be on that dotted line before you can say "poor unfortunate soul". What do you mean she's stupid, her dad ravaged her Special Interest Cave like a toddler throwing a temper tantrum, I would also run the fuck away

Lets create a house where yelling means we’re having fun. When you hear a door slam you know it was accidentally pulled with too much strength, not slammed out of anger. When there is silence, it is Contentment, not another passive aggressive fight. The dog is no longer barking to protect, he simply just wants the cats to play with him. Let’s create a safe, warm environment that makes you feel like you can breathe, not hold your breath. Let’s stomp on the eggshells we use to tip toe on. Together we will make this house into a home. And welcome all with open arms into this kind and loving space.

Testing. Testing.
With the faire and festival season in full swing, I've been trying out new configurations on my sword and shield combo.
This was my first run with this previse setup, so the beach surrounded by water, and with the crazy talented Ashmo_fire as my safety seemed like a great place for some trial and error.
There are still a few modifications to be made before my next public show at the upcoming Revenge of the Dragon event, but I'm really excited to keep pushing the boundaries of my flow.
Stay safe out there, and please don't try this at home unless you are a trained professional.
I hope you all have a splendid week. :)

Just adding to this, now that there is _finally_ a move in my nation to actually fix our insulation and glazing standards so that the minimum build for a house _wont_ do this to it's occupants, my nation voted in a right wing disaster trash fire coalition of the corrupt, the neoliberal looters of the state for private interest and the populists, and they've promptly decided to wind back that improvement, among many others:
I'll add to my commentary on childhood pneumonia that nearly killed me, to say this: When the company physician viewed the x-ray of my lungs to pass me as healthy for both above and underground mine work in Australia, his first words were 'how many times have you had pneumonia?'. He then reviewed the x ray, pointed out the various damage, and said he'd pass me, but basically told me to stick to exploration and above ground work if I could and don't work in the pits or underground mines, because my lungs, although healthy, are only just good enough to pass that check. Just. But the dust, even with modern PPE, would get me. I took that advice to heart. It wasn't particularly the fault of my family, just the economics and regulation that was considered 'Ok' and 'good enough' or 'they won't vote for us if we make it more expensive'.
And despite, what, 98% support for this improvement to our building codes specifically because of the improvement to respiratory and vascular health, some rich wankers have given the current government a handy under the table, to get it removed.
Lividly angry.

Images from Local epidemiologist's substack and fb post. I note that I nearly died from infectious disease several times before age 10. The worst of those was one of the half dozen times I had severe pneumonia. I didn't even know I was sick, because I was a bronchial asthmatic - I always had a bit of a cough, a bit of trouble breathing, so how could I know? We were sitting on the couch watching TV (this would have been what, late winter early spring '77). I was feeling sort of dreamily restful. Then my family noticed I was blue about the lips and unresponsive (I mean, I was aware, I could see them, but I could barely move; it's only when I saw the panic in their eyes that I realised I wasn't breathing/couldn't breathe). The pneumonia had filled my lungs to the point that my bronchiae were so full of fluid I couldn't cough it up, and I'd just started dying on the couch there beside my siblings. Dad picked me up and shook/patted my back (probably full strength slapped it really,) and I coughed up a huge wodge of stuff, and got air, and then he carried me outside and made me stand, walk then run, (This was probably not the approved method), to make me cough more, while mum warmed up the car, then it was hospital and the serious antibiotics for a couple weeks.

A Sweet Farewell

Patient and Gentle Persuasion
Have you ever had someone in your life who is so doggone sweet, kind, and gentle that you wanted to hang with them so that some of that ooey, gooiness of them would rub off on you? I have – and I am still working on the “rub”! And, then, you find out what that person does for a living, and you wonder “How in the world did they end up with a job like that?” I watched the show, “Tough as Nails”…

just had an absolutely sickening conversation with a 20 year old I work with wherein I had to impress upon her that her and her friends need to be extremely cautious going to the gay clubs right now with increasing attacks happening. make sure any very young, very newly adult queer people in your life know that we're a family and community and part of that is being willing to fight for your siblings lives if they're under attack. even if it's a person you despise, you stick up for your family and they will stick up for you. we are all we have. the cops refuse to help, and so do most people outside the community. we cannot survive without each other

me, an hour ago: "fuck, the stove is on! what do we do?" [immediately does all the wrong things]
PSA: What NOT to do when you smell gas
In this situation, we got home to a smell of gas throughout the house and discovered our gas stove was on without a flame. it was only a tiny stream, and everything turned out fine, but here's a brief list of everything we did wrong:
NOTE: this is for if you smell significant amounts of gas, not a blanket list for all possible gas situations. (If you aren't aware, the methane**/natural gas used in houses smells vaguely like sulfer, or rotten eggs - this is an additive, since it has no natural smell. It's a very recognizable smell, once you've smelled it once. It's not the same smell as gasoline.)
1. If your stove has an electrical/spark ignition, do NOT turn it off.
Spark ignitions often spark when turning on *and* off. Spark + Gas = Boom. Boom is bad. Avoid boom.
Instead, turn off the gas at the source, i.e. the physical valve at the meter. There may be a smaller valve near the stove. If you don't know where the shutoff is, the fire department will find it.
2. Do NOT turn on (or off) vents or fans.
In fact, don't flip any electrical switches - that includes lights, plugging in or unplugging appliances, etc. These cause sparks. Spark + Gas = Boom.
Also, don't start your car. obviously.
3. Do NOT open windows
counterintuitive, I know. This is mostly because you want to prioritize your exit, but it's also to keep the fumes from spreading outside, where you should be waiting for the ~professionals~ to come handle it.
4. DO take all people and pets outside.
Do this very first!! (one thing we actually did right - go us!)
This is obviously because you don't want to go boom, but you also don't want to suffocate. Gas is poison!
NOTE: the gas from your stove is probably methane (natural gas); carbon monoxide is what you get when methane burns, which is why your kitchen needs to be well-ventilated and the stove shouldn't be left burning for long periods of time, but the natural gas itself is *also* potentially deadly. Carbon monoxide detectors dont detect natural gas, so that's what the odorous additive is for.
Inhaling natural gas causes nausea, headaches, dizziness, and makes you just generally woozy, and eventually causes you to lose consciousness and potentially suffocate, just like carbon monoxide does. We don't want that.
5. DO call the fire department/emergency line
They'll check for other leaks, shut gas off if needed, then test for air quality and eventually clear your house for reentry. It takes like 1-2 hours for the gas to dissipate, generally.
Yay, you survived! Congrats!!
NOTE: if you find the stove has been left on with a flame, or it's on with no flame but you don't smell gas, then you should be safe to just open windows and turn on vents and fans to air it out.
idk, this was actually pretty scary, especially when we realized how much of our immediate response was wrong and could have turned a dangerous situation into a real disaster.
tl;dr: If you smell gas when you shouldn't be smelling gas, just get all the people and animals outside, shut off the gas line, and call the fire department or gas company. don't fuck around with gas. you're not overreacting, you're taking the proper safety measures.
**CORRECTED FROM ORIGINAL VERSION. Original said propane, but it's very much not propane, it's methane. too much Hank Hill on the brain, clearly.
