What do you think of Muraji and Tsunakawa?
I don’t think they are together? Kidding, kidding. I actually wanted to try and write down my thoughts about Tsunakawa, so I’ll start with him. I admit that I disliked him quite a bit at the beginning. If I remember correctly, we met him on a golf course… just like that he didn’t make a good first impression on me… heir to a powerful old traditional yakuza family with a patrilineal hereditary system, went to university, the guy knows privilege, although he almost saw his position as successor to his father vanishing and he had to work for taking it back. His most interesting reactions to me are those connected to Okuyama and what he represented: someone with an other kind of earned authority, who could in fact challenge his position, that was close to his father and that he couldn’t figure out completely. And of course his reactions to the possibility that this rivalry and his strained relationship with Okuyama was the reason Nikki was kidnapped. So it’s with the latest chapter that I finally see a series of pieces falling in order and I can see a little growth of character in Tsunakawa and that was very satisfying, narratively: so much so that I think I calmed down and I can look at him without disliking him too much lol (I still think he is a major threat to Yashiro specifically though).
There is also the first conversation between Tsunakawa and Yashiro, so important for establishing a sort of subtle uneasiness that Nanahara talks about, more on Yashiro’s part at the beginning, but we will see how that sentiment develops.
I’ll take the opportunity to show here a little difference in translation between the scans and my copy, it’s not a major thing, but I think this is a point with a certain significance, and it’s good to keep this conversation in mind. I don’t have the Japanese nor the official English translation here, so I am not showing this comparison to say which one is better, to be perfectly clear. Only that I have the Italian version in mind when I think about this. And Tsunakawa says: “Between ‘people change’ and ‘they can change’… which one of those two sentences do you (formal) think can reflect reality?”. I don’t know, but to me the question reads slightly differently with this wording. Less about what Yashiro agrees from a theoretical standpoint and more about what experience tells him? Of course then the answer Tsunakawa gives is neither of those options he gave and Muraji comments on it. Yet the last chapter in a way contradicts the statement that “people never really change”, in my opinion. I’ll try to explain, hopefully without writing too many words. And in particular there are three different chapters to consider here: chapters 45, 55 and 59.
The moment Kai’s name is mentioned we can see Tsunakawa starting to piecing things together and thinking more calmly about the situation and what he remembers about the type of person Okuyama was. In chapter 55 he is already doubting Okuyama’s involvement in Nikki’s kidnapping, because a loaded action like that would contradict Okuyama’s reasonings about how the yakuza works. He remembers a specific conversation and he has the grace to mention it to Okuyama in his hospital bed, as a form of acknowledgment and respect: he did listen to him years ago, and now he understands the type of obligations Okuyama had towards Kai. That is also interesting because it explains why Tsunakawa had Doumeki under surveillance: the situation here resembles Kai’s, who had been entrusted to another group after his previous one was dismantled. So at least Tsunakawa is capable of changing ideas about people, even when he doesn’t think that people can really change entirely.
As for Muraji, he is mostly doing his duty as wakagashira, second in command and he is the person Doumeki needs to report to directly. I do think that is wise that we don’t get as much additional information about him as a person, since there is a lot to remember already at this point. He isn’t one dimensional either, but we don’t need to know him personally that well in the economy of the story. I like that he isn’t expressive, because that works as a counteract for Tsunakawa’s antics (loved the details of the finger pointing in the corner of the panel when Tsunakawa introduces him).
Muraji trying his best twice to make Yashiro withdraw from chasing Yamakawa is a bit funny to me, because Yashiro can be very frustrating: they offered him a sum of money to cover Kido’s debt and some extra for the inconvenience, but Yashiro opted to stay in since catching Yamakawa will lead them to more money, but that frustration is mostly represented through Kamiya’s facial expressions. And ultimately, Tsunakawa has to intervene himself and talk directly with Misumi, which is something he probably wanted to do also because he wanted to see Misumi’s reaction to him dropping Doumeki’s name. Yoneda managed to get everyone where she needs them to be, and it makes so much sense from a strategic point regarding the situation and from who these characters are in term of personality. It’s brilliant.

Second post about Saezuru 😂
On the occasion of the release of volumn 9, the collaboration cafe "Day/Night" has been held in Tokyo and Osaka. Last week my friends travelled to Tokyo and they helped me to visit this place.
This time, theme is mafia and pyjama (like the story in the extra paper included with volumn 9)
Impressive moments of volumn 9 are printed and hung all over the wall
When you order drink or food, you can get random paper coaster as bonus. 1 coaster per drink/food
About goods, we have acrylic coaster, illustration card, can badge, acrylic standee, acrylic key holder and metallic clearfile.
Each 2500yen you spend on books and goods (book is a must), you get 1 of 4 postcards as another bonus (you can choose the one you like). I got all because I have some kind of OCD. Once I buy, I buy all or nothing 😂😂
I also went to another collab cafe when volumn 8 was released but i was too lazy to post here 🤣 i will try to post it in the future.

Hello SaezuruSteve team, I hope that you're all doing well! ❤
I was wondering if you are planning to release chapter 53 and 54? I always love your high quality scans though I always buy the magazine.
And I also wanna say thank you so much for all of your hard work.
Hello Anon, and thank you!
I want to release chapters 53, 54, and the impending 55, at least I think I do. I'm sure my team would like to do so as well, at least I think they do. However, life is a shit sandwich... and sometimes you just don't have enough bread to not taste the shit.
The Steves have suffered some losses of friends, family, homes and countries. It's been a fucking horrible-ass year, in fact it's been a horrible-ass TWO years! And even though I scanned chapter 53, chapter 54 is still sitting here untouched because I lost my copies of it for about a month. Grief and misery have a way of blinding you to the fact that you put it on the table by the door when you came in, and even though you are looking right at it, it's invisible because for a moment it was the last thing I wanted to think about.
Maybe things happen for a reason, and I'm so grateful that @itwearsadress came along and saved everyone from having to wait for the chapter. It's been a sigh of relief.
As for us... once the rain stops... I will answer with a strong and hopeful "Maybe? Probably? Perhaps?" Because scanning Saezuru sure has been fun and I would hate to not see it through to the end.
I'll keep you posted!
Love Always,
Steve
P.S. Be good kids and do what @itwearsadress asks of you, and don't fuck up a good thing! ;D
P.P.S.
Someone dropped this:
What the frick? Someone dropped this too???? Must be Saezuru Month! ;D

Umbrella vs. Rain: The Driving Forces of Saezuru (3)
Note: my analysis relies heavily on visual elements
III. Aiai gasa (相合傘) - Under the shield of love
"相合傘 - Aiai-gasa" is a combination of the word "相合 - Aiai" - doing something together, and the word "傘 - gasa" - umbrella. Literally, it refers to the act of two people sharing an umbrella. However, as the word "Ai" is homophonic with "愛 - Ai" - love, "Aiai-gasa" connotes a derivative meaning: Love Umbrella. In "Saezuru", empathy and love are the umbrella that shields characters from the rain (or I believe so).
Yashiro vs. Mother & Child
The five panels on this page vividly embody the adage "A picture is worth a thousand words." Following Yashiro's forceful removal of Doumeki from the car, a profoundly expressive and iconic scene unfolds. The stark contrast presented is striking: Yashiro isolated in the car versus the Mother & Child duo outside, together under the rain. While Yashiro remains sheltered within the car, impervious from the rain, Mother & Child rely solely on an umbrella for protection. Yet side by side, the prowess of their bond shines through against the glooming backdrop. Their love acts as an impenetrable shield, leaving them unscathed. In stark contrast, Yashiro, who has just pushed away the person he loves and loves him back for mutual protection, finds himself alone. Despite the physical safety of the car, the rain metaphorically pierces through him in the darkness. It’s not the umbrella itself, it’s love that defends people against the rain. Yashiro has never had love before, but as soon as he has, he’s got no other choice than to let it go. That look in his eyes gives a mix of tragic resignation to his fate, the paradoxical coexistence of envy over and disdain for love, and the determination to give up love.
Fortunately, Doumeki refuses to give up on Yashiro, despite his cruel words. He quickly returns, bringing along an umbrella and water for medicine. His determination to stand by Yashiro's side and shield him is palpable. As soon as he enters, the car is brightened up and the rain retreats back to be outside of the car.
In this scene, Doumeki's arrival with the umbrella not only shields Yashiro from the rain's darkness but also symbolizes his loving presence guarding Yashiro off from his turmoil.
Although Yashiro may not yet be brave enough to acknowledge or confront his feelings, his expression subtly transforms from a frown in the first panel to something softer in the last. This instant change reveals the other side of Yashiro genuinely doesn't protest Doumeki's return, hinting at a hidden vulnerability beneath his tough exterior."
2. Moratorium
This cover is the scenery illustration of an extra where Yashiro has Doumeki run an errand to buy him an umbrella. For Yoneda sensei never half-asses anything, I'd like to take an approach regarding the characters' setting and the story's developments on this painting.
This marks the beginning of Yashiro and Doumeki's journey towards each other, as Doumeki endeavors to stand by Yashiro's side. Amidst the pouring rain, their bare heads stand out starkly in a sea of umbrellas, emphasizing the pain they both endure. In the bustling crowd, Yashiro remains motionless, a solitary figure amidst the chaos. The red light he is leaning against represents his childhood trauma and the yakuza world. Literally and metaphorically, Yashiro can't go even if he wants to. Yashiro's relaxed posture against the crimson glow signifies his reluctant acceptance of his date, a tragic resignation to his circumstances.
On the other side, Doumeki opts not to shield himself with the umbrella he carries and dashes to Yashiro with big strides. This bold act underscores Doumeki's unwavering commitment to protecting Yashiro, even at the cost of his own comfort and well-being. He willingly discards himself. That's why it doesn't end well.
3. Not yet Aiai gasa (相合傘)
When Doumeki returns, Yashiro's intuition clicks when he sees only one umbrella with him, but screws the idea of Aiai gasa right away by forsaking Doumeki drenched in the rain.
The 7th and 8th panel summarizes Saezuru until the end of the Hirata's arc - Yashiro pushes him away through assault, while Doumeki endures it all to remain by Yashiro's side. Aiai saga is meant to be two people under the umbrella, not one. Ironically, despite their deep affection and fierce desire to protect each other, their relationship falters due to a lack of mutual commitment to being together. Another significant contributing factor is their profoundly low self-esteem: Yashiro, feeling undeserving, violently pushes Doumeki away to protect him, while Doumeki, undervaluing his worth, tolerates mistreatment and violence for Yashiro's sake. In this sense, they both push Doumeki away, unable to bridge their emotional barriers.
In the 9th panel, Yashiro blames Doumeki for his tardiness. While Doumeki is indeed late, it's evident that it's not his fault. His arrival into Yashiro's world comes after Yashiro has endured immense suffering alone for a long time, leading to a coping mechanism that rejects Doumeki's presence. However, Doumeki's entry into Yashiro's life marks the end of the Moratorium. Yashiro can now begin to move forward, although the process is slow and painful, signifying a gradual progression towards healing.
By all accounts, in their complicated case, love love alone is not sufficient. Acceptance, self-appreciation, and the mutual wish to be together are essential components for Aiai gasa to work for them.
4. Aiai gasa (相合傘) - Under the shield of love
I'll be positive saying that Yoneda sensei has hinted at their happy ending in this poster for the Rain event, or at the very least, a phase where they accompany each other out of love.
This is Doumeki and Yashiro post-time-skip. The image of them under the umbrella signifies a mutual desire to be together at last. Doumeki holding the umbrella for Yashiro, who is already slightly damp from rain droplets, symbolizes Doumeki's belated but meaningful presence in Yashiro's tumultuous life. This time, Yashiro allows Doumeki to take care of him, indicating a shift in their dynamic. Doumeki's actions also suggest a growth in his self-esteem, from nothing to something.
Their interaction speaks volumes. Despite Yashiro's sulky expression and bombastic side eyes, Doumeki meets his gaze directly. This subtle interaction hints at their ongoing communication and mutual efforts to understand each other better.
Under the shield of love - Aiai gasa, they are navigating their complexities. Under the shield of love, anything is possible, I believe. The mutual understanding, if they successfully arrive, would not only empower them but also serve as a shield, safeguarding and freeing them from their birdcage.

Doumeki is Yashiro and Yashiro is Doumeki
Saezuru volume 8 has already been released and is selling like hot cakes for your luck and ours. I was able to find spoilers for one of the extras that come in this volume that shows Yashiro and Doumeki switching bodies.
Please observe how Yoneda manages to show us the personalities of these characters even when they are not in her own body. With my friends we commented that we had never seen Doumeki move so many muscles in his face and even less witness Yashiro sitting so politely in the traditional Japanese style hahaha I think this is because Doumeki practiced kendo for too long. I hope it will be available soon translated more precisely but for now we know that apart from touching his new scar and his missing finger, Yashiro having such a powerful body is challenging a defenseless Doumeki. This extra has made me very happy.
Thank you for reading and you know if something is poorly translated it's Google's fault.

Hi there :) So have been reading saezuru again to warm up for the next chapter and i have a few questions:
Do you think Yashiro´s mother will show up at one point?
Do you think we will see Doumeki showing his Kendo talent?
Do you think we will see Doumeki smile at one point? Because i´m sure we haven´t seen him smile or laugh so far.
Hello! Sorry for the late reply!
1) I doubt Yashiro's mother would appear or, more appropriately, should appear due to the immense breach of trust and emotional trauma she inflicted on Yashiro. The impact has been so profound that, even at the age of 40, he struggles to believe he deserves protection and love. Yashiro's mental and emotional state is already in turmoil with Doumeki reentering his life. Introducing his mother before resolving issues with Doumeki and establishing a connection between them would likely overwhelm Yashiro.
2) I hope so 😂 An extra chapter about the same would be great!
3) This as well, I really REALLY hope we get to see Doumeki smile. And Yashiro as well. They both deserve to smile and laugh and be happy after all that they have been through. And I hope that we get to see the same soon. We will get to see them both happy and smiling for sure🤞♥️

What happens to your assessment of the story told in Saezuru once you acknowledge that Doumeki forced himself on Yashiro? That Yoneda broke one of the “standard” rules of romance? There is a place between taking in a scene in a fictional story and making a moral judgment (or looking for someone to make a moral judgment for us to agree with). The place where you don’t have to judge and reach a conclusion immediately or make any call on the meaning of what is happening in a fictional story, but you have to first try to understand cause and effect, internal coherence and characters’ motivations from an external point of view that doesn’t coincide with your own. Some of the best stories you’ll come across will require some work on your part: for stories to be listened to and taken in, for stories to operate on you, the reader, instead of you trying to mold them into what you wanted them to be, bringing your pre-formed expectations in too heavily.
I believe that, generally speaking, many readers may have low expectations for comic books, manga and BL especially. I write this and I already feel a bit guilty because there are so many who have such genuine and emotional interest in Saezuru and that take the time to write and read so many extra analyses including reading the ones in this blog. But I have questions when I come across comments or analyses that indicate such radically different levels of interaction with the story, with expectations that it won’t present any real issues apart from 1) those who can be treated as (psychological = pathological) deficiencies originating from “trauma” (actual magic word now that let us magnanimously forgive characters who are “different”) and that must be “healed” (aka corrected: now now child, start behaving normally); 2) those that can be fixed by a punitive action and our expected contempt (bad guys only). Aren’t we maybe underplaying or trying to keep control over what we are reading? Maybe, also, people who approach these kind of stories for pure entertainment and escapism, or because they’re curious about what is popular in a particular circle and want to participate in fandom for the social aspect of it, are relaying on established tropes or fandom staples. All extra context is lost, layers of sociocultural norms or the story’s themes, broader lore or mythology are left behind, because what matters is molding the characters so that they can serve a purpose: in many cases a romantic trope that is often a repetition, an insistence on ideas already used. I imagine that writers that want to tell original stories don’t want the same thing and are actually trying to avoid it when they are writing or drawing characters with depth and coherence and stories that have a scope and feel grounded in a particular world or setting. Even writers who can only publish their work under appealing marketing labels like BL is now. But it would benefit us readers in general to approach this particular story with less preconceptions, less like mass-product-for-pleasing-people and more like a creative endeavor that want to be explored and to create conversations.
Unfortunately - let’s be real and blunt - in some cases prejudice can also lead few people to think that a Japanese mangaka and especially a Japanese woman won’t have the “right skills” to deal with complex subjects with enough “clarity”, or “awareness”: these aspects being sexuality, gender identity or the aftermath of sexual assault, or the sociological aspects of sexual violence in specific circumstances and environments. We have been lead to believe that these “problematic” themes were just so common for yaoi, no further analysis needed, only tropes and kinks, only labels, no nuances, no self awareness. Yoneda might just have chosen the most common type of conflict she could think of without going through too much trouble. And the yakuza just provided the right aesthetic! Okay, I am purposely deeply generalizing here for the sake of the argument, but it happened enough times in other animanga communities that when readers aren’t offered the simple or standard solutions they expected, they denounced “poor writing choices” instead of reassessing their own expectations of what they were reading: endings being the greatest tool for recontestualizing and reassessing the story as a whole. When readers just refuse to engage with entire aspects or pages in a story because they don’t serve their imagination, then they must know that they might be missing something and should refrain from making loud self-centered complaints. As for Saezuru, it’s not that I don’t expect a satisfactory and “happy” ending to the story or I am worried that readers will be disappointed. The ending in tragedy Romeo-and-Juliet style was teased already at the end of chapter 34 almost to get it out of the way and offer a continuation towards something else. So I genuinely don’t expect a repetition of that. But the ending might not be this conventional “issues resolution” or whatever people think that “healing” means. But I do expect that the various plot points and thematic elements will be tied together in the end, because Yoneda has been showing us consistently good writing.
I had a big part of this post in my drafts before recent conversations, so this was genuinely a generic comment on the growing differences within the fandom. I also hope it didn’t come across as harsh or anything more than a personal preoccupation of mine with how we collectively read stories and how we want to maintain the control over potential subversions of the “rules” when maybe not everyone had agreed to those rules and standards.

Saezuru 56 #andmore
I've read so many reactions to the latest chapter I feel like I need to share my own take on it, please excuse the vagueness.
Mama's storyline come to mind as a tattooed person myself. Only fresh tattoos can be felt on the skin so in chapter 51 when Yashiro notices something is up with Doumeki it's because the tattoo is fresh.
Maybe from a previous visit to Mama?
BL novels usually don't highlight relationships with females, of course this can be added for extra angst, but I hope it's not the case here as angst levels are over the top already.
When Inami reveals Yashiro's impotence in chapter 55, Doumeki reflects on their recent sexual encounter and looks terrified remembering that Yashiro seemed to be in pain.
The first time they have sex Yashiro asks Doumeki to "make it hurt more" but he refuses as Yashiro enjoys the sex without it being painful. (chapter 25). A few pages later Doumeki says something to Yashiro that's still unrevealed "you are my..."
When they have sex after the timejump and we see the stolen contact lens case, I think Yashiro discovers it as its placement is different in the first panel than in the second. I hope all dots are being connected soon (chapter 52)
There is also a hidden gem in this chapter, when Yashiro remembers he fainted and a recent memory pops up. It's their latest encounter as Doumeki's scar is visible and not covered with tape (as in chapter 25). Here Doumeki seemingly kisses Yashiro's hair/neck lovingly.
Doumeki might want revenge on Yashiro as he previously stated to Mr.chestnut in chapter 40 but he might just become good at being yakuza so he manipulates chestnut to get the information he needs (confirmation that he is about to meet Yashiro). The same could apply to Mama, Doumeki knows he is being watched by his own group and probably purposefully develops a connection (whatever type) with Mama.
Yashiro of course has no idea about love, with Kageyama he jokingly expressed some things but painted a very lewd and promiscuous picture of himself (maybe to get a reaction of jealousy but he only received some distaste and perceived pity). He is doing the same with Doumeki but in the last chapter he does let some intimacy between them when he shows his jealousy and expresses he felt mistreated. Similar to chapter 15 when he tries to get Doumeki admit something to verify his idea of Doumeki's actions.
Yashiro overall seems to have pretty low confidence when it comes to his lovability, I think that could be one of the reasons he threw Doumeki away he just does not understand/believes Doumeki's feelings for him and absolutely unsure what to do in such situation. I suspect Yashiro is not the type to step out of his comfort zone (yet). I also suspect Doumeki is aware of Yashiro's situation but he is not quite sure if it's the truth or just wishful thinking.
Either way I hope these lovely 2d characters can learn together what they need to feel comfortable with each other. 💓✨

Of the various interpretations going around, yours is the one I find myself agreeing with most. And because personal interpretations can influence choices in translations, I really hope that your translation of the last chapters will be available, too. Of course with all the time needed. Thank you so much!
The reason we have translators and why we heavily rely on them so much, is that they actually understand what's going on. Of course we want them to be in love and happy, and if I had my own way, I would make them say whatever I wanted, and I often have (as an extra/joke comic.) That doesn't make it right. Personal feelings should never get in the way of the translation. I'm sure there have been many times where hopeful translators were excited over Yashiro saying something that sounded romantic, only to be let down by his aloofness or creative speech pattern. Then we get the drama CD and his voice couldn't be less enthusiastic or romantic about a particular statement or action. Sigh... such is Saezuru.
Alas, what hopeful romantics are we, Anon? Our day will come. But until then, I will leave you with what we wish were true:
Oh, what the heck...
“One day you will ask me which is more important? My life or yours? I will say mine and you will walk away not knowing you are my life.” – Khalil Gibran

Thank you for your previous reply. Use machine translation. I also think Doumeki has a lot of respect and appreciation for what Sakura has given him.But it is worth mentioning,Yakuza is not a way of life that gives Doumeki Real Peace of mind. Yashiro's abandonment of Doumeki was cruel,But in a way he does know how much Doumeki has to endure to stay in Yakuza.
In fact, Doumeki can be very decisive in combat, also can be cold to the enemy. But every time this happened four years ago, Yashiro seemed worried, not happy.
Others may think Doumeki is perfect for the yakuza. All the yakuza will find Doumeki useful, but Yashiro can't just keep Doumeki around because he's“Useful.” Doumeki can actually protect some people in Yakuza, get some recognition,But that is not enough to make him truly“Loyal” to an organisation. And by that I mean inner loyalty.Doumeki, of course, is devoted to Sakura at work and takes care of Sakura's interests and feelings. This is his gratitude.
His reason for staying in the sinful world was his connection to Yashiro, even though he could no longer develop a romantic relationship with him.The reason for this loyalty is not just love. In fact, Doumeki of Ch. 51 accepts Yashiro's anger, even though he doesn't think Yashiro loves him.I think Doumeki felt that Yashiro was angry because he was disappointed.Doumeki knows Yashiro doesn't have a tattoo,He also knew that Yashiro wanted him to leave yakuza. Yashiro did not say love directly, because Y himself did not understand love well enough. But he has said many times that Doumeki should leave the yakuza. Yashiro took it upon himself to decide that Doumeki should leave yakuza,But that's one of the reasons Doumeki fell in love with him. That is why Doumeki is spiritually loyal to Yashiro. I agree with you that Doumeki didn't know that Yashiro loved him,He suffered because he saw Yashiro's self-destruction, but I don't think he ever doubted Yashiro's inner beauty.Doumeki also suffered because Yashiro made that beauty full of pain. So Doumeki kissed him, even though he thought Yashiro was disappointed in him. In volume 8 of Saezuru,an extra story,About Doumeki dreaming that he's getting very small. What he thinks is, big or small, I can't live without you. Doumeki's loyalty is very implicit and absolute. Just like Yashiro kept his love. They value each other so much, they both think they shouldn't touch each other.Even if they want to touch each other -- Doumeki can't stop kissing Yashiro, who can't stop going crazy for Doumeki. I agree with you that they need to confess their feelings, but in the author's past style, I think it would be a more Japanese, more implicit confession. In fact, the author seldom uses explicit“love” to express love directly.Even the original Japanese text of Doumeki's confession is not “love”.You know he's already the most honest one. Of course I want them to say love, but maybe one morning after they get together.
Thank you for reaching back out to me! While I do mention Doumeki’s loyalty to the sakura group, I want to make it clear that I do think Doumeki’s devotion is to Yashiro. Where I think Doumeki’s conflict will come in is potentially leaving a place where he feels comfortable in and made a life for himself without Yashiro to being vulnerable and at risk of devastating heartbreak with Yashiro. It would be similar to the decisions that Yashiro faced in the first arc. I also agree that it is unlikely we will see them explicitly say the words “I love you” but I do hope to see them both express some vulnerability. I am not 100% what that would look like though.

What is your favorite extra chapter of saezuru? I enjoyed the one where Doumeki and Yashiro were talking about Nanahara’s twitter at the end of ch 29. I liked how Yashiro was hurt when he thought Doumeki was saying he didn’t like the pictures and Doumeki’s jealousy and Yashiro’s subsequent arousal. It was a fun, lighthearted way to show their dynamic in the story compared to the much heavier way in the actual story.
I agree, that extra was really fun! I love the fact that Yashiro looked the other way and let Nanahara continue posting, because he undoubtedly sympathizes with him having to endure this secret attraction. And yes, it was definitely a lighthearted way to show how they interpret things differently, despite really caring about the other. Yashiro can’t seem to pick up on really obvious cues that Doumeki values him, which was even noted by Amou. Subconsciously he understands the implication of what Doumeki said, but his conscious reinterpretation is heavily sexual, focusing on “your body.” I think the underlying idea of this extra is that Yashiro doesn’t have any issues recognizing sexual desire directed at him, but doesn’t understand how people with romantic interests toward him would act or feel; he’s never experienced pure romantic love, so he doesn’t know how people behave when they fight for their spot in someone’s heart. On the flip side, any time Yashiro felt real romantic longing, he’s always let that person go. So, to be fair to him, his focus on “your body” is understandable.. Yashiro was taught that his body is a commodity for others, whereas Doumeki’s words really highlight Yashiro’s autonomy and his own anger at the exploitation of Y’s body for the sexual gratification of others. Of course a lot of it was just jealousy on Doumeki’s behalf, but I also like to think that Doumeki was a bit outraged that the pictures were posted without Yashiro’s consent. If the extra continued, I wonder if Yashiro would have told Nanahara to stop? Thanks for the fun q!

*The 1-page manga paper definitely comes with orders from ComiComi and Horinlovebooks, as well as in-store purchases at most Animates. Purchases at the Animate Online Store might be excluded, but I’ll update you on this when my orders arrive.
*If you order from Toranoana you need to put the clearfile in your basket manually. There’s a link if you scroll down their product page.
*If you order from Animate or Toranoana you probably need to use a proxy service like Tenso.
*It looks like you can still order the special edition at most stores.
Happy shopping!
