How do you think things might have gone if Sun was the one trapped in the net?

hmm, i know we haven't seen it in the fic yet but i actually picture Sun being more vicious than Moon when frightened or angry. however, he's also quicker to trust and calm down...

so, i think the combination of hunger, the dark, and the cold would have driven Sun to lash out immediately upon meeting Y/N. he'd hiss, thrash, throw rocks, and tear at the water the instant they made any moves, and they would keep their distance as they did with Moon. Sun would quickly realise that Y/N is helping them and that their wariness towards him is slowing them down, so he'd dial back the the aggression. he'd pantomime harmlessness, tucking his hands behind his back, making himself small, chirping at them. it wouldn't really work as the first impression would be hard to shake off, but it would make Y/N's job easier. and they would interpret the extent of Sun's intelligence faster than they did with Moon.

Sun wouldn't like the raw fish Y/N brought them, but as he rarely ventures outside his home and its readily-available supplies, he'd be more susceptible to hunger. he'd grimace and try to be grateful, gingerly nibbling it and trying not to spit. then he'd offer some to Y/N as a peace offering.

Sun routinely speaks in a mix of merspeak and ancient English, unlike Moon who favoured merspeak until he met Y/N. Sun would definitely speak to Y/N at some point, who would immediately flip their lid in excitement but be unable to respond underwater. nevertheless, Sun would grasp that they understood him and be equally as thrilled. he'd ask them a bazillion things and ultimately settle for just rambling at them or sticking to yes/no questions. after the initial excitement, Y/N would wryly decide that this friendly mermaid is a huge drain on their social battery lol

Sun would get super emotional. this alien thing with two tails didn't retaliate when he lashed out at them even though he's trapped and at their mercy! not only that, they're bringing him food (raw, but still), working to free him, and engaging while he talks to them. they even attempt to comfort him when he sadly mentions how frightened he was, how Moon must be going frantic looking for him, how the net hurts. they make muffled noises of sympathy and gently pat him with the longest tool they have.

for all their reckless actions, Y/N is pretty cautious at heart. they'd follow through on their plan to keep Sun's wrist restrained until the last second, handing him the knife and preparing to flee. Sun would realise their plan and gaze at them pleadingly, the knife sagging in his hand. he'd ask them not to run, please, he wants to be friends. it's been so long since he's met someone new, and he must repay them for rescuing him. Moon would love to meet them too!

Sun wouldn't pull the same lure-and-grab trick as Moon, but he would be intensely curious... and desperate for comforting contact. he would try to grasp Y/N's braids, examine their work tools, beckon them closer. he'd say he won't hurt them, he only wants to get a better look, please please please! originally Y/N intended to work their way towards getting closer to Moon so they could snip the worst of the netting, but him pinning them to the floor and ripping apart their bladed pole skewed that strategy. i think Y/N would drop their guard faster with Sun, even though he's clearly very grabby and a little rough. he might cut them accidentally with his claws, but ultimately he'd learn his lesson and take more care.

Sun isn't familiar with the dark waters, so i think he'd fail to grab Y/N when the rumble came. they'd be battered by rocks and injured, but not much more than they were with Moon. they would feel touched by Sun's fluttering panic over their injuries.

Y/N would hesitate, point at the knife and the net, and then beckon him to follow before swimming away.

when a newly-freed Sun surfaces, Y/N would call him from the platform at a safe distance. they'd be able to talk and introduce themselves properly, and Y/N would explain that he doesn't owe them anything because the net belongs to their team, so it's their fault he was trapped in the first place. they would apologise, and Sun would feel somewhat admiring with a healthy dose of 'wtf no that doesn't make it their fault?? are they always like this?' (yes)

i don't remember if i've mentioned this before, but Moon was trapped in the first place because a rumble came along, blasted him down some tunnels while he was exploring near the facility territory, and the lost net was also caught by the current and tangled around him. it snagged on the rocks in the cave where Y/N found him, securing him in place. so the day Y/N freed Moon and left him outside the building, he then had to find his way back home alone🥺

i don't think Sun would be so independent after a stint of being trapped and slowly starving. he'd cling to Y/N and ask them for help to find his way home, and live in the facility territory in the meantime. when they did eventually locate and escort Sun home, they would have formed a bond, with an intense crush on Sun's end. he'd be very eager to offer them hospitality and introduce them to his Moon, oh he's going to love them! a lot :)

they would then be met by a very frantic and disheveled Moon, who is only holding off on grieving Sun because he can't bear to think that he's gone. i think he would be quick to blame Y/N for Sun's absence, and would direct a lot of territorial aggression their way even while he's checking Sun over and clutching him close. but dw, that would be short-lived as Sun explains how Y/N saved him and provided food and shelter until they could escort him home. Moon would still be suspicious for sure, but Y/N's fidgeting excitement to explore the warm environment and open guilt over Sun being trapped would quickly overpower that. and soon he'd get to know them better and grow closer just like Sun is doing now🥰

I still remember my disbelief that this was happening right then and there after I'd re-calculated and set my expectations accordingly mid-season because no way these idiots would be able to get their shit together in a few episodes.

I really like the hesitation before he speaks again, he makes it very obvious that it's difficult for him to come clean.

I'd have worked something else in there. I mean, the performances are good but I'd have written some more. Maybe something less passive too. Also, "want" is not what I'd have used. Or a generalization.

Having said that, if I was in Sarah's shoes, I don't know if I'd have received well the fact that he waited until she was with Michael to make a move either way. I've said it before. Okay, this is a story and with it come certain liberties, for example if the writers say that there's a couple that's meant to be and I'm not referring to this situation specifically, then they're meant to be and the audience has to go with it. But in real life when a guy waits until you get in a relationship with someone else to reveal his feelings, he's probably taken for granted that you'll always be available for him. Anyway, this is a reason why it's good that we see more Charlie's point of view than Sarah's because we can tell it's not that but also like I mentioned before, it does a disservice to Sarah because we don't know what she's thinking a lot of the time.

I would not have appreciated him bulldozing my life like that at this point when he had stayed silent for so long. Just saying. I'd have cussed him out at least.

lol sorry but this is funny. And it's also awkward because it's all done in the precinct, in the middle of the bullpen in fact, like imagine if Michael got angry and started yelling. Some people would have gossip fodder for weeks.

The transition after "is there someone else" is the exact same one used from S02E18 when the wife of Sarah's professor asks her if there is a boyfriend.

She came! Well, for the audience after the previous scene there's no question whether Sarah would appear there. But Charlie didn't know that. There's a question of how she would know. Maybe Charlie spends a lot of time there when he's sad? It's certainly a great view. And snowy! I love it, really. I love that Rex is there as well.

Of course I would have loved for them not to leave us on a cliffhanger because I totally spent the next five months considering various ways they could screw it up since they hadn't made anything certain. Again, while it's a quite famous show it's a relatively small production (if you were to compare it to your average internationally successful crime show, that is) so for me there are no guarantees and no "they will do this because it's been done this way". I can make a few relatively safe assumptions, like when they started the season that way, I could make the assumption about where they were headed and be quite confident about it, but there are no certainties. I think I've talked before about the season hitting certain plot points that were indicative of where Charlie and Sarah would end up.

I would have been surprised if they actually didn't go there after all this, though. Aside from my shippy heart which would have been shattered (yeah I'm being dramatic), there would have been obvious questions like, what were you doing all this for? However, if they'd started S5 by tentatively going towards them being a couple while not having them be a couple, I'd be satisfied with that too. Certainly, when one of them has already confessed their feelings and the other breaks up, you can't exactly go back to them being just friends with no explanation.

One thing that I will distinguish for this season? For the first time, we didn't end up at the same point we started. That was a nice change as for the last three seasons the only thing that would progress was Charlie and Rex's partnership which mostly happened because John Reardon and Diesel became more familiar with each other and could play off of each other better. As always, I would have liked an arc with a big bad but I'm coming to terms with the fact that it will never happen. I would have liked Charlie's actions to be explored more and into something other than "I'm acting out because the woman I like is with someone else". He's been through a lot in the span of a few seasons. It's not unrealistic to have issues from his experiences on the job. Besides, everyone was at one point or another worried about him. In the season finale everyone was worried about how he was taking the case and about his judgement but then this is magically resolved because he gets together with Sarah and we forget everything.

I liked the moments of tension in this season most of all. I never thought I'd miss that because in a regular crime show, there's usually a lot of that between characters. But yeah, Hudson and Rex needed these moments. And it doesn't have to be manufactured drama, when people work with each other all day, there's bound to be some friction.

I'm looking forward to S5, even though it's long as hell lol

Wait what do you mean Bingge will textually will just rape his wives if they don't want to have sex? I don't remember reading that in the novel but it's been a while. Wouldn't he just find another wife who'd be up to it, since they all apparently always want to get his attention? Also I agree with you, I don't think he actually loves any of his wives, I'm not even sure he even LIKES any of them (except maybe Ning Yingying since they're childhood friends) I mean considering he has at the very least about 90 wives, according to the novel's description ("he had a harem nearing triple digits"), he'd still only have 4 days a year to spend with each wife, and that's not even counting all the work and campaigns that he has to also spend time on. So nevermind loving them, I don't think he really even knows the personality of any of his wives, at most he knows the barest of minimums about them to know how to act and deal with the wives. If he wasn't an overpowered protagonist I'd bet he doesn't even know the name of some of them since he apparently marries anything that breathes. Anyway sorry for the rant SVSSS and Luo Binghe (both Bingmei and Bingge) have got me on a chokehold since I've read the novel and I don't really have anyone I can talk to about it, also pardon my English it's not my first language lol have a good morning/ afternoon/ evening

no worries, your english is fine! in vol 4, shang qinghua says "[He] thought sadly about how under his pen, Luo Binghe had obviously been a peerless stallion who’d pursued only his desire to beep—, and the number of women he’d r—beep—ped had definitely been in the double digits…" ; on top of in vol 3, where shen qingqiu says "The key point was that the r—beep—pe actually wasn’t a successful r—beep—pe. This is way too fucking off. How could that be Luo Binghe? If he wanted to r—beep—pe someone, they would obediently spread their legs themselves, okay?!" (i did not add the beeps those are in the text. ftr. killing me).

i've always taken these passages to mean 1) when bing-ge initially encounters a wife, he'll do whatever he wants anyways (the types of novels that svsss is satirizing feature quite a lot of rape, or if not rape, very dubiously consensual sex, so this can be assumed), and 2) if binghe chooses a wife to have sex with, he's going to anyways. because it (pidw) is a power fantasy novel for cishet men, there's most probably a very small amount of attention, if any at all, given to the consent of the wife characters, so bing-ge probably does, at the least, have really dubiously consensual sex with them on the regular. if they're available, he's not going to be made to wait to find someone else, because he's not doing it just for pleasure, he's doing it to fuel xin mo (and possibly just exact power over someone else).

totally agree with everything else you said - they're really quite objectified to him, and i doubt he keeps track of all of them anyways.

hey y'all! i know pretty much everybody is sharing their thoughts on veilguard, but i wanted to throw mine in too. i'm a long-time dragon age fan; i've been playing the games since i was 16! veilguard was what i have been looking forward to ever since then. in some ways it was amazing. in other ways... a bit of a letdown.

let's start with what i enjoyed! first of all, i really liked our cast of characters. i found them all to be interesting and i enjoyed their unique problems from their past to solve. their designs were awesome too. my favorites are lucanis and davrin ^_^

i also really liked the visuals of the game overall! the worlds were beautiful and the characters were too! i especially appreciated the black hair styles available. super awesome to see my hair in a game for once!

i know not everybody likes the combat (cough cough my younger brother- i think he just wanted the old tactical stuff back). i was fine with it though! though not entirely... i'll get into this later. other than that, i enjoyed the storyline of the game and seeing solas again! getting to really know solas and see his backstory was super cool. i also loved learning more about elven lore as they've always been my favorite in the dragon age series.

with the positives out of the way, let's talk about what wasn't so great (in my opinion).

i think the progression of your relationship with your companions was a flop here. i missed being able to walk up to them and talk to them. this was valuable in getting to know them and creating that feeling that you're building a relationship with them. in the current system.. i don't really feel any closeness to my companions! i don't see why they're sticking around with the team or opening up to my rook in the sparse scenes they do have. it seems more work went towards their interaction with each other than with my rook.

this is sadly a theme with the romance too. there's just.. hardly anything! especially if you're a lucanis romancer. going to the lighthouse and seeing EVERYONE has an interaction but lucanis was honestly a bit irritating? there doesn't even seem to be any reason for rook and lucanis to be together. they just don't talk LOL along with that, having companions flirt with each other in front of rook while trying to lock down a romance with one of them was frustrating! i think this would have been better after rook has committed a romance with someone else. it was only made more annoying with the fact that the companions flirted with each other more than they did with rook lol

regarding combat, the indication that an attack was coming was wayyy too small and hard to see in the fray of battle. i found this feature to be mostly useless as half the time i couldn't see it while i was attacking. i also didn't like the way some enemies would just keep tossing me around! perhaps this was a skill issue on my behalf... but there were times where i would dodge and get thrown right after lol i could not get up!

locations felt a bit empty compared to inquisition. there just wasn't much to do in some of them. rivain got ignored by me entirely because it was too boring imo and there wasn't much for me to engage with there. i also ignored dock town because i didn't really like the area. i was personally hoping for a more illustrious location if we were going to tevinter.

other than that, there's some other smaller things i didn't care for but they're not important enough to address in a paragraph.

as a whole, i enjoyed veilguard! i'd give it a 7.5-8/10. it's good on it own. compared to other dragon age games, not so much. i think companions have always been really crucial to dragon age games and veilguard kinda sold that. that was most of what brought my ranking of it down. that's just my opinion though! it's still good for many other reasons!

Hey! I’ve been following you for a while and I really love your art, it’s absolutely stunning and I love the way you paint and capture anatomy. I know this is a bit of a broad question but I was wondering if you had any tips on getting better at painting digitally and studying anatomy, maybe more specifically blending, colour picking, and structuring anatomy in a way that looks somewhat realistic?

Thanks and I'm glad you enjoy my work long enough to be following me for this long! I definitely love drawing a naked body that's for sure haha. In terms of tips for getting better there's a few things I can mention but it's going to fall broadly in the general answer of "study", because this is the most sure fire way to be able to understand what it is you're trying to emulate in your art. There are different ways to study, and they teach something slightly different. For example, doing studies from life (live drawing classes) help me understand movement in a way studying from a photograph cant, simply because you're seeing the same model in different poses in real time, you can see how the fat and muscle moves around as they shift to different positions. So they're not technically moving the whole time, but you're still seeing some movement there, and understanding what sticks to what while it rotates and bends. Studying from photographs can help give you time to do some real deep dives and investigate where different bones/muscles sit while someone is in a particular position. There's also the opportunity for understanding how shadows may be formed by the body as typically photographers are more conscious of how the subject may be lit than what may be available in a live drawing class. Beware though, as more things are photoshopped than you realise, not all photos represent reality. Especially glam and fashion photos. It doesn't mean its bad to want to have these effects on your work but just be conscious they might not always be anatomy accurate if that's what you're striving for. I sometimes make a conscious decision to go against what is anatomically correct for a certain effect myself. A book I have been recommending for years for anatomy is Dr. Paul RIcher's "Artistic Anatomy". It's great for understanding muscle structure intimately - it's designed specifically for artists, but with the idea of trying to stylise the diagrams as little as possible for the sake of understanding the human form. There's a lot of great info and detail in here, but beware, there is not a lot of variety in body structure (at least not in the edition I have which is missing female anatomy I think already so I'm not sure what else I don't have in here). So you'll be able to understand function a lot from here but you wont be able to learn a lot about fatter body types sadly.

Colour picking is probably the most difficult for me to explain easily, as I have spent a long time winging it, then studying it, then being really experimental with it. I could write a lot a lot about this but to spare making this post any longer I'll refer to another fun book just for getting started on some frequent and common terms called "Color and Light" by James Gurney.

I also love that he uses like, dinosaurs for everything in here lol. It's a great starting point that can give you some go to ideas that you can then experiment from there. It's not very authoritarian (or at least that's what I feel), and doesn't push anything forward as a hard and fast rule, just showing what affects some colour combinations might instil in someone.

As a whole, I've gotten better at painting digitally by studying traditional painting techniques. They theories are basically transferrable one to one with some few exceptions. I tend to blend my colours by simply using a soft round brush in Photoshop with a low opacity. Much the same way I would with a real canvas, with a large round brush and diluted colour. I hope this answers your questions in some way. I tried to be not too specific only because this answer would be at least another 30k words lol because this is something i think a lot about! I love technique! If I ever stream again, feel free to pop in and ask more questions where I might be able to show some stuff in real time! Not sure when that will happen though!

Also the way i do stuff isn't a "correct" way either. I like painting from imagination so this is how I make that work. Some people like to only work with references for every piece, and that is a completely legit way to create stunning art as well. Good luck!

I'm going to use amazon links just so you know what I'm referring to for sure, but they're available as ebooks on Black Library as well if you're a charlatan that doesn't like physical books. These are my own personal opinions, please don't burn me alive.

Now, not all of the primarch books are good. But they are good standalone books if you enjoy getting into a particular primarch/legion and how they think. I can vouch for the Konrad Curze one (it's the best one imo), and the Alpharius one. I also see a lot a lot of people that say the Angron one and Lion'el one is good but i haven't personally read them.

There isn't too many Vulkan/Salamander books sadly, I can only think of Tomb of Fire but that's a series. For Corvus, there's the Corvus anthology. You don't have to read HH to follow, it's largely just about Corvus and raven guard specific adventures.

Unfortunately compared to Girlyman, there really isn't much for Vulkan and Corvus. They're largely ignored by BL along with the White Scars.

I know it's not technically a standalone book but Night Lords omnibus is a fucking mandatory read. It's 3 books and you can get the all in one book on amazon for like 20 bucks. Even if you don't like Night Lords/Chaos, the writing alone makes it such a good read.

The Infinite and the Divine is another mandatory read. It's a good break from Space marine content too, since there's so much of it.

I haven't personally read this one so i can't vouch for it, but if you like human/astartes interaction Legacy of Dorn is supposed to be decent.

If you like Guilliman, I highly recommend the Dark Imperium trilogy. Again not a single book, but it's a good series that really shows just how different Guilliman is from his legion now, and how he's having to jump right into fighting a war he had hoped would be long ended by now.

Helsreach is very good. Death korps of Krieg is also supposed to be good, but I can't vouch for it personally.

I'm sure there's so many other books I'm missing. I can't vouch for them all because I've only read a few dozen or so, but these are some of my personal favorites.

Now an added note here: The Horus Heresy books are a nightmare. BUT, you can read them as standalone if you want, because they're less of an coherent storyline and more of a webbed mess of content like Star Wars. If you have a rough idea of the main 'idea' of the Heresy, you can read them solo. In fact many people do just pick and choose the HH books they want to read based on what legion they're interested in. I recommend Betrayer (angron content <3), The first Heretic (Lorgar and his piss kink lol), Fulgrim, Deliverance lost, and Unremembered Empire.

some trolls band together theories/notes!! (contains some spoilers for the new trailer!!!)

In the first movie, Creek had chartreuse pants. In the second movie, Hickory had chartreuse skin. They both betrayed a loved one for a leader type person. In this movie, the characters who have chartreuse hair include Clay, Velvet, and Veneer. I can't wait to see if Clay follows the pattern, especially since he seems to be with Viva in the trailer.

The Putt-Putt trolls all seem to be monochrome, besides Clay and Viva. While it would make sense that Clay doesn't share the same color scheme as them, I'm curious about Viva... especially considering Poppy IS monochrome, being pink all over. Give her some properly crazy hair like Viva, and she would fit right in. Poppy also was the main demonstration of camouflage in the first movie, having her hair look like grass and moss to hide from Chef! I really hope they bring that aspect back more, especially since the Putt-Putt trolls at least seem to hide themselves shape wise as golf balls.

Viva asked specifically if Poppy's father was King Peppy. I'm curious why Peppy wouldn't have mentioned Viva at all, because while he is the type to hide or ignore upsetting information, he also cares deeply about his subjects, refusing to leave them behind. He even was very careful about his daughter Poppy in the process of saving his citizens. I theorize that either Viva is lying to Poppy, or she is a half sister, one that either Peppy didn't know about or was switched at birth with Poppy.

Another thing to note: while Viva looks remarkably like Poppy, practically her twin, she doesn't share ANY colors with her father, wheras Poppy shares her hair color with him. Tiny is practically a copy of his own father, and Branch shares his skin color with each of his brothers. Now, they don't share appearance so much with their grandmother, Rosiepuff, except that John Dory perhaps shares her hair color somewhat. However, that has another generation (the parent(s) of the BroZone) to explain differences of color and appearance. Why does Viva look the way she does?

While Velvet and Veneer somewhat fit within the aesthetic of their toony/alien subjects, I think their appearances are being influenced by Floyd's essence, and we'll see a transformation back if they are without it for a period of time.

I'm so curious about Spruce's family, especially his kids. I theorize that the vacation island residents we see are at least some related to him! I also think it would be a neat gag if some of them were in his hair, or he was carrying an egg.

I wonder what the brother's opinions of Branch being with Poppy will be. Me yapping about something that happened on TF2 today

I was playing casual TF2 with a friend now that there aren't as many bots (I SUCK like REAL BAD, so no way we're going to community servers, I would get OBLITERATED the second I stepped on one, also a lot of players on community servers dislike F2Ps for existing) and found a player who shares names with my light and it was really awesome

7 years?!

Wow! I can't believe it's been 7 years since I have posted on this account, or really used tumblr much at all! So much has changed in these last years, I am 7 years older believe it or not!!!!

First things first, I doubt anyone will see this as I am sure many of the folks I used to interact with have moved on from here, or changed accounts. If you remember me, or see this, I would love to say hi <3

After leaving tumblr, I was able to get a pretty large following on tiktok doing aquarium related content, as well as specimen preservation tutorials and process videos (I'm @fishydaddy if you're curious!). Sadly, as many of us are probably aware, tiktok will likely be unavailable in the US this upcoming year, and I felt like it was time to come back to tumblr as it was a huge part of my adolescence. I'm not sure how much this site has changed in the years since I have been gone, but it has been absolutely fantastic going through old archival content and getting all nostalgic and inspired :,)

Looking at this old blog and seeing the work I did as a teenager makes me feel all kinds of things, but it mainly has given me the spirit to get back into art and posting again. I would love to have my content available across many platforms and hopefully set up my own website soon. I will keep this blog for archival reasons, but will likely move all of my newer postings to a new blog. I have a super hard time choosing a name for a brand (???) or social media handle, and have changed it MULTIPLE times throughout the years, but would really like to stick with one from now on. Since I am known as fishydaddy now (a very silly joke name I used not thinking I would actually gain popularity and have a hard time changing it after lol) I will probably continue using that, or a similar name, as fishydaddy is taken on a lot of platforms. I will post an update on what my new username is and how to find me across social media if y'all are interested!

I was able to go to college and get a degree in aquarium science, one of my main passions is aquatic animal husbandry, so being able to get a degree in a niche topic was amazing!

After moving away from home after a gap year post high school, life got pretty hard (although it was always pretty hard, just in a different way). I feel like a lot of my inspiration and drive towards art faded as I didn't have the time or energy to refine skills and learn new things. There have been a few moments where I have gotten back into it, but it has been fleeting, as been good mental health.

When I was posting on this blog, I came out as non-binary (I think I was 16 or 17 at the time?), and being in this community was a huge reason that I was able to learn about gender identity, expression, and the existence of non-binary identities. It was hard at first with family acceptance and self acceptance, as well as strings of bad relationships with straight men who didn't see me as the person I am, but all these years later I am happy to say that the age old quote is true, it DOES get better :,)

I now have been on hrt for over 6 years, and become more comfortable with myself.

Transitioning obviously doesn't fix everything, and new struggles come along with transitioning, but I am so happy with the direction my life has gone. I met an amazing person about 4 years ago and we have been together ever since. He is the first cisgender man I have dated where I felt completely understood, accepted, and valued for being truly myself. It also helps that he isn't straight (If you're a young trans person and dating PLEASE do not date someone that says they're " (whatever sexuality) but will make an *exception* for you". I've done it three times and boy oh boy does it leave some lasting scars and blows to self confidence!

Aside from gender stuff, my mental health journey has been a rocky road, but I am nearing a point where I feel I am able to work towards a better life. From childhood, I have always had intense anxiety and obsessive thoughts, which increased drastically during adolescence and morphed into full blown chronic depression, social anxiety, and executive functioning issues that I was never able to fully improve on.

When I came out to my parents at the age of 18, instead of acceptance, I was taken to an autism specialist. I guess my parents thought the reason for being transgender was autism in my case. Well, turns out both can be true (sarcasm), and 8 years later, my parents are very accepting of both my gender and neurodivergence.

This past year, I was finally able to see a psychiatrist that was able to help. My first psychiatrist was from all the way back when I was 15 and I hadn't seen one since getting prescribed antidepressants. Well turns out there are nifty genetic tests that can screen for genetic differences that can cause sensitivities or resistances to certain medications, as well as indicate certain chemical deficiencies or mental health conditions. I was on the wrong medication and given a misdiagnosis for over a decade. I feel like I wasted so much time and suffered through those years. There were good times and beautiful memories to look back on, but I was really sick for years and wasn't taken seriously/unable to be helped based on my description of the problem. It wasn't until I had a horrible depressive burnout episode when I went back to college for a fisheries and wildlife degree that I knew I HAD to do something ASAP. I completely wasted time and money, only to ghost my school, teachers, and classes without being able to communicate how badly I was doing. I took a break from school, got a job in fish health research, and got burnt out AGAIN during one of the best jobs I have ever had in my life. I knew I had to do something, and I finally was diagnosed with ADHD through genetic testing and a new psychiatrist.

The best way that I can describe this feeling I've had since I was in 5th grade, is nausea, dread, terror, fatigue, and just an overall feeling that something is very, very wrong, all the time. It wasn't just anxiety, it was something deeply unsettling that I could never escape. Well, it turns out that I literally am lacking very important chemicals for human functioning due to rapid uptake and processing of those particular chemicals, such as dopamine and adrenaline. I finally feel like I am not broken, that all this work I have been trying to do through self-betterment and therapy that didn't work wasn't my failure or lack of will. It is literally that I blast through dopamine like nobody's business and then am left with nothing, leading to a horrible feeling all the time. Since being prescribed the proper medication, I finally feel like a normal, functioning human being. Some days are hard still, but that's true for everyone. It's like I can finally see through this invisible veil that has been in front of me for my whole life. I feel like I can talk to people like when I was a kid, be myself, work on unmasking, and truly enjoy life and have fun.

Now that I am doing better, I am so excited to start working on what I love again, which is art! My medium has changed many times throughout the years, from pen & ink, to plushies, and more recently into specimen preservation and sculpting, but I always love doing EVERYTHING (ha! who would've guessed I have adhd????). My plan for this upcoming year is to really focus on practicing art, as well as create more things to share with people, be it content, or sellable art. Recently, in the town I live in, an awesome vintage market has opened and has space for an oddity seller which is right up my alley. Fingers crossed that I can get a spot there!

I also want to work more on educational content surrounding aquatic life, from marine biology, to keeping aquariums and general fish health management. This is one of my biggest passions, and my special interest. I have learned so much working in the aquatics industry over the years and would love to share the important information that I have acquired from working in public aquariums, commercial aquatic facilities, and just being a hobbyist on the side.

The Guardiana Magic School Run -Part 19

Okay, so I've been wondering, what was that funny thing i said in the last one of these?

yeah. lol. lmao even

I honestly won't even promise you i'm coming back to this with any sort of regularity, i'm just tired of everything else i wanted to do and felt like playing instead. A Christmas miracle of sorts, perhaps. The holidays are a time to reunite with family after all, for better and for worse.

For Max it will decidedly be for worse, because of course I took a break right before Cain of all people.

Still, he's nice enough to let us prepare first, which is a good excuse for me to go over the team and try to remember what was going on.

First, I have to go through the pain of removing the dragon from the magic only challenge, because this dragon is somehow not magical enough and does not learn a single spell. RIP Bleu you do nothing but haunt my life in multiple ways nowadays.

On brighter news, Bleu's house had a whole Halberd in it, so that's an upgrade for Arthur. There was also a Shower Cure there that I give to him as well. I also realize Arthur hasn't been carrying a spear, which must be some kind of mistake??? There's no reason he should have one, even if the spears available at this time are all a bit too weak.

Oh okay good thing i can reread the previous parts huh. So yeah, fixed this.

Max also gets a bit of an upgrade due to a Broad Sword lying around Dragonia. The Soulbuster might still be the best against Cain though. I'm honestly not sure. In any case, I also gave him some better healing items as he was carrying around only Medical Herbs, likely a sign of how easy Chapter 5 was.

Also, it turns I already had a Broad Sword anyway from the Dullahan of the last battle. Well, free money I guess.

A fun thing of having been on a hiatus is that someone out there had time to scan the official strategy guide of this game, so I can now check item drop rates. Turns out they're kinda generous, that Dullahan had a 20% rate of dropping it.

Anyway! I sure hope this has been enough to get me back in the zone, because there's no more delaying the inevitable. Let's go beat up everyone's favorite possessed brother. Or be beaten up by him. Who knows.

To really drive home how off my brain is, I don't quite remember what the Ogre Slayer is. I know it's a lance, but what exactly does it gives bonus against? Unsure. But in any case I wasn't gonna rush a battle against Cain anyway, Arthur is doing just fine with a Halberd.

So as the battle begins, we have these three annoying Gargoyles who I believe will be rushing to us as soon as possible, and also casting Muddle 1 to lower our accuracy, which Sucks Big Time.

Meanwhile, the Golems ahead of us are not as eager to advance I believe, instead doing the "big impenetrable wall" thing Golems like to do. Thus, I could take my time defending against the Gargoyles first I think. Let's see how it goes.

I'm unsure as usual on what to do with Narsha, but I feel she'd help with an attack boost. And I'd rather use Attack 2 to get more people in, something that would be a lot more efficient had I planned it beforehand. So Arthur is sadly out of the area even though I'd like him to get it, but Max and Hanzou get in the fun. And Tao. Who knows if she'll be using it.

Narsha gets a level up from this btw, but is very poor. Only +1% in magic resistance.

Also oopsie dopsie, I underestimated the Golems' willingness to advance. Good thing I didn't abuse that assumption too much, their movement is low and I didn't place anyone in their reach for this turn. Next turn things should heat up though.

I also realize now that Gong perhaps needed the Attack boost even more tbh, but at the same time, his defense does not inspire confidence as a frontline fighter. The fact that my previous post only mentions worrying about him does not help. Perhaps Gong simply does not keep up well with the late game. But I could have certainly helped by giving him the Power Ring beforehand, which is instead with Arthur, a guy who hasn't needed help in a while. Oh well!

Turn 2 starts like this and I don't like it, doesn't seem like I'll be able to deal fast with the Gargoyles. The Master Mages are the fastest enemies and should be attacking soon too, and I did not arrange things well to avoid the area damage.

At the very least I can send Domingo as my own inpenetrable wall against the Golems. I feel his spells are better spent here than against a single Gargoyle.

Arthur on the other hand should be okay dealing with these guys a bit, he'll get backup later before they get their turn, I think.

Unfortunately, no amount of cool Halberds or attack boosts can change the fact that flying enemies SUCK

Meanwhile, I'm barely back at the game and can already witness the wonderful Max Obsession we all know and love. This mage could have lined up four victims for the Freeze spell had them centered it at Narsha, but they would much rather think about Max and only Max. With that, only he and Narsha get hit, and both have >40% magic res to shrug it off. Tao would have done similarly too, but Hanzou, despite a magic user, has 0%, and was also the most recent death of the playthrough, so yeah I'm gladly he avoided this one.

Also, mages just don't last long nowadays.

As the eternal star of this run, Tao is now about to finish Domingo's job. Three enemies go down at once, I love magic.

Hanzou finishes the other mage. I'm a bit worried to advance him too much, but I expect the remaining enemies to obsess over Max.

Meanwhile, Arthur shrugs off these annoying things with 1 damage each. They are annoying but not a threat, I was only afraid they'd go for Tao or something.

Anri and Narsha then manage to take out the final Golem, and Khris heals what little damage Narsha took, because while it wasn't much, Narsha does not have that much hp and worries me. I want everyone at full HP once we get to the boss.

Turn 3. Hey Gargoyle, dodge this.

It doesn't.

Domingo gets a disappoint level up out of this, I didn't know he could get those. Only +1 HP.

Arthur finally shows off what a decent level up looks like, also redeeming himself from the previous miss.

The priest did nothing but heal themself last time, and they're weak, so I ignore them with Max, hoping lower leveled characters can get some exp out of them.

I'm not shocked that this part of the battle is chill, btw. The problem tends to be Cain and the Dullahans, unless you're too low leveled to deal effective damage to the Golems, which isn't a problem in this run, especially not with this many mages around.

Sadly, I can no longer get my favorite comfort food. Walmart uses to sell this really good Buffalo chicken pizza, which had the absolute best Buffalo ranch sauce I've ever had, but they discontinued it. I've tried making my own, and finding something similar, but to no avail.

I usually make myself some hot chocolate to cheer up. I'll start by heating up either milk or water (sometimes half milk half water) Then I add in the hot chocolate packet. Next I'll stir in a heaping spoonful of unsweetened cocoa powder, add in some salt, and either cinnamon or nutmeg depending on how I'm feeling. Then I drink it while reading a book.

1: I look like a tall hobbit. 2: I've been told that I look very welcoming (I don't actually know what this means, but I think it was meant as a compliment) 3: I've never had difficulty growing facial hair (after the age of 13)

1: I can get along with almost everyone. 2: I'm pretty easily entertained. 3: I'm getting better at setting boundaries

No underskirts shots, no sexualization, no sexual jokes made towards anyone, absolutely nothing untoward in that direction. There are some pretty hellish flashing lights but they're always predictable, being within battles/transformations/attacks, but if you're light sensitive, epileptic, or have light triggered migraines, definitely skip past anything to do with the Marble Screw attack. If you're seizure prone, this one may not be for you sadly.

Episode specific triggers : episode 3 features mild themes of student teacher crushes, and students crushing on a teachers assistant. This is never mentioned, hinted at or brought up in any way again after the recap in episode 4.

Extra notes: you could very genuinely watch this with your parents if you wanted to, though as far as I know it might only be available in a subtitled format. Please let me know if this isn't the case.

I also find it very very funny that not a single ball is *ever* blocked by the goalies in the lacrosse games? They even directly call to them multiple times, but never once do we see a ball blocked on screen in the whole show. It's really funny lol

2024 Games: Mega Man X6 Tweaks

After playing X5’s improvement project, I felt it was only fair that I give X6's a go as well. X6 Tweaks is a sort of like a custom tweaks patcher allowing you to alter several elements of the game to your liking, including how the characters play, certain specific elements of level design, elements of the game’s presentation and a lot of stuff being tracked under the hood.

Before going into that though I feel I should talk about my opinion on base X6.

I hate it.

I really do not like base X6. I have played a majority of the side scrolling Megaman games, not all of them but most of what could be considered main series games and I genuinely feel X6 is the worst Megaman game, of the one's I've played at least, I've heard many bad things about BN4. But with X6 itself I feel like there were a lot of good ideas and some genuinely fun things to mess around with, but between the massively inconsistent difficulty, poor executions of it's ideas like the Nightmare Effects, bad design decisions with things like the secret boss areas and all armour pieces being required to use an armour again and of course it's infamously bad level design. Any good or sensible idea X6 had, is ultimately either undermined, falls over itself or is lamented for being stuck in this game.

So what exactly does Tweaks do to fix these issues?

In short, quite a lot while also adding a number of miscellaneous additions for fun and QoL, but at the same time, not doing much to fix arguably X6's biggest issue.

With my playthroughs, for the overall important changes, I opted to disable the Nightmare Blindness, leaving the other nightmare effects on. Aside from that, I activated incomplete armours, made it so the Exit Stage button was always available, unlocked aerial moves like double jumps and dash, fixed the translation, added the custom mugshot graphics, and tweaked the damage tables to make a few things more tolerable, like the donuts.

These changes did do a lot to make X6 more tolerable which did allow it's better qualities to shine through. The game is a lot more open with your routing, probably at least in part because every stage needs to be revisited anyway. The armours are fantastic, I'd argue they're some of the best armours X ever got and with the updated script, I can at least appreciate what the story was attempting. The script does even have some stuff that is genuinely interesting or funny.

Nightmare Zero actually has lines that read like he is Wily, I genuinely did not know that til now.

MF actually pulled the "I got better" card,cannot believe this.

Zero canonically hates puzzle games lol

They even added unique dialogue for Zero in the intro stage and against Nightmare Zero should you use the cheat to unlock him from the start which is a fantastic touch.

Some other fun additions include letting you change the Ultimate Armour’s palette to any of the three from the PS1 Trilogy as well as a fixed version of the X6 colours to match the portrait and a colour palette for the Legacy Collection Ultimate Armour which I think was updated to make it look better.

Unfortunately, at it's core the game us still X6 and it's main issue, the level design is still very much a problem. Scaravich is still a random layout , leaving the armour, boss portal and heart tank up to RNG. Mijinion still has his really annoying secret area, and his main area still throws literally everything at you, and of course, Heatnix is still just donuts. Would you believe me if I said someone actually told me they thought this was not only fun, but better than an actual level? Course the Gate stages are still just as bad too, but hey you can actually beat them without parts now. Bringing Shadow Armour to Gate is actually a reasonable idea now, as one of the few changes the hack does make to level design is adding a platform to the infamous jump. An air dash for No Armour and Shadow Armour is also available.

Sadly, like X5 Improvement, the hack ultimately does very little to fix the overall level design and the more problematic sections. But to be clear, I can't really blame the hack creators for that as the only real solution would be to just completely scrap the existing levels and completely redesign them from scratch, something well beyond the scope of a rom patch. So overall while it is an improvement over X6, I'd really only recommend it to someone who's familiar with X6, the bullshit it throws at you and the ways you can cheese it.

I'd say it helps the stromg qualities of X6 stand out enough to get B tier, but a pretty low B if I'm honest

Currently reading: Uuuuhhhh I don't read as much as I should, but when I do I've been bouncing between: The Death and Life of Schneider Wrack by Nate Crowley, which I really enjoy but have been trying to finish for like a year and half (it's not long i'm just lazy). An inventive nautical zombie romp with a dash of social commentary.

Asian Ghost Short Stories: An Anthology of New and Classic Tales. The intersection of folklore, horror, and culture was the topic of both of my undergrad senior papers, though they mostly focused on Japan. I've already read most of the traditional Japanese stories in this book, but I don't know very much about ghosts in other Asian Countries, so it's been an interesting read! I was also drawn to it because it contains translations of new short horror stories by unpublished Asian authors. The Black Bestiary: A Phantasmagoria of Monsters and Myths from the Phillipines by Budjette Tan (Author), David Hontiveros, Kajo Baldisimo (Illustrator), and Bow Guerrero  (Illustrator). See above. This book is really interesting, because it's an illustrated compedium of myths and monsters, but the entries are written from the perspective of modern-day monster hunters recording their experiences in a journal. Apparently it's a sequel to a book called The Lost Journal of Alejandro Pardo, which I'll have to pick up sometime. The art is very cool. One of the illustrators, Kajo Baldisimo, is the main illustrator of a comic series called Trese that semi-recently received an animated adaptation with audio available in both English and Tagalog. I've been meaning to consume both of these at some point as well.

Last Movie: Uuuuuhhhhhh.... I'm not much of a movie person, so I don't really remember, but I guess maybe Dune?

Craving: Curry and rice (I'll make some the next time everyone else is out of the house >_>)

What are you wearing right now? Black leggings and a sweatshirt with the word "Catnip" over a collage of images of cats and slogans like "Cheap Thrills" in the style of an old-school Reefer Madness poster.

How tall are you: 5'4 (164.56 cm) (People always say "I thought you were taller!" Including someone i worked with in-person for more than a month-and-a-half.)

Piercings: Just the boring regular ear piercings.

Tattoos: None, sadly. See: fear of commitment

Glasses? Contacts? Neither.

Last drink: Ice water (I'm trying to drink more water, but I'd rather gargle metal shavings than drink room-temperature water.)

Last show: Hmm this one was also a while ago. I think it was Dragon Age: Absolution.

Last thing you ate: Pork roast (bleh) and potatoes for dinner.

Favorite color: This is a cop-out but I like lots of colors. I guess maybe green, orange or red? But I also like white, black, most shades of blue (navy can get fucked), purple, yellow, pink, silver/gray, etc.

Current obsession: FFXIV

Unrelated obsession: Dice! I love hand-made ttrpg dice sets! They're so pretty and unique! Sadly, not playing in any actual games has not put a damper on my bankruptcy-inducing dice habit.

Any pets: Two cats (Hansel and Gretel) and a dog (Isabella).

Do you have a crush on anyone? Nah.

Favorite fictional character: This one is really hard... There are probably so many I'm forgetting. The Justice of Toren/Breq from the Imperial Radch series, Matthew Swift from the Matthew Swift series, Alistair from DA:O, Anders, Fenris, and Isabela from DA2. Garrus from Mass Effect. Esteem from FFXIV, Alisaie from FFXIV (though I also really like Haurchefant, Y'shtola, Hilda, Ysayle, and Fordola.)

Honorable mentions to the characters I used to have keychains of on my pen case (I would try to encourage shier, nerdier students to talk to me by watching/playing things that were popular with high schoolers and putting my favorite character from the media on my pen case, which students would get very excited about): Chuuya from Bungo Stray Dogs, Childe from Genshin Impact, and Cu Chulainn from various Fate-related media.

The last place you traveled: Uhhhh I guess my last major trip was to... here (America)! My last "vacation" was to Sapporo (that was right before the pandemic.) I do occasionally take shorter day trips to towns around my area, but the furthest afield I've been recently is Grand Marais in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

I will be in Las Vegas for the FFXIV Fan Expo this summer though!
