Watched the Sadako-San and Sadako-Chan review and had a thought regarding the Pollo bit. Ever consider making him a Robomat body? Weird question, I know, but it’s an idea I think has a lot of potential. Not just for merchandise, but for storyline stuff too. Maybe as an alt-body he could use in certain situations? I don’t know, just spitballing.
That's... not a bad idea. *Makes a note of it for later.*

Ok.......so this is what I've finished so far (for Ju-On), in rough viewing order:
Katasumi
4444444444
Ju-On: The Curse
Ju-On: The Curse 2
Ju-On: The Grudge
Ju-On: The Grudge 2
Ju-On: Black Ghost
Ju-On White Ghost
So basically got the whole original series outta the way (I do recommend Black Ghost and then White Ghost last, since that's the more chorono accurate way). I like them all! JOTG2 was kinda......well I'd rank it lower than the other's (yes even Cursed 2 and BG/WG). I recommend watching a cut that makes The Curse 1/2 into "one movie" so you avoid the repeat scenes in TC2. BG/WG wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be, WG was a bit funny cause of the basketball but it was heartbreaking. The drama/story was stronger in WG imo, but BG had slightly better horror and a decent story too.
What's left for Ju-On (in rough viewing order):
Reboot: Ju-On: The Beginning of the End and Ju-On: The Final Curse
American series: The Grudge, The Grudge 1.5, The Grudge 2, Tales of the Grudge, The Grudge 3, The Grudge (2020)
TV: Ju-On: Origins
Crossover: Sadako vs Kayako (saving till after I do all of Ringu)
I don't think it matters if I watch Tales of the Grudge before or after The Grudge 2 tbh....
Ringu that I have to do:
Ringu/Ringu Kanzenban (1995): 1st adaptation, Based off of novel, most accurate adaptation.
Ringu (1998): Most popular I believe, not sure how loosely based it is on the novel.
Spiral (1998): Original sequel of Ringu (1998) but takes the sequel novels name? Seems to adapt parts of the novel at least.
Ringu 2: Second sequel to Ringu (1998), replaces Spiral (1998). Original story that ignores Spiral.
Ring 0: Birthday: Prequel to Ringu (1998), based off of short story in anthology novel titled birthday.
Sadako 3D: Loosely based on S novel
Sadako 3D2: Direct sequel to Sadako 3D, last installment of "Rasen" story line?
Sadako vs Kayako: Skip till later
Sadako: Sequel to Ringu 2 (1999)??? Loosely based off the Tide Novel. Seems to have a tie-in manga of "Sadako-san and Sadako-chan"
Sadako DX: Sequel to Spiral (1998)???????!!! Oh this is gonna be so confusing TT0TT Also not sure if I'll be able to watch this juuuust yet cause my luck there's no translation yet.
Ring: The Final Chapter: TV Show, seems to be a slight reboot
Rasen (TV series): Sequel to Ring: The Final Chapter, doesn't related much to source material
The Ring Virus: Korean adaptation of Ringu (1998)
The Ring: American adaptation of Ringu (199*)
Rings: Short film that serves as a sequel to The Ring and prelude to The Ring 2.
The Ring 2: Sequel to the American Ring, I think this plot is original.
Rings (2017): Sequel to The Ring 2, apparently based off of Spiral's premise.
Phew I think that's it- wait, what the fuck is a Hikiko-san VS Sadako???? Bunshinsaba vs Sadako???? 1, 2, AND 3????? Oh I'll cross that bridge when we get there. TT0TT
Honey, baby, sweetie. Why the fuck are you fighting everybody and their mother???? TT0TT
(anyway, gonna ignore reading novels/manga or watching the games for now)
#silly watches#silly marathon#horror marathon#now i just need to see what should be the 3rd franchise I binge for halloween 8U#long post

Compared to Sonia’s room, Chiaki’s is roughly normal. Most of her systems have stayed home both for space and practical reasons – still, the television had a switch attached to it that allowed three different component cables to use only one entrance, along with all the HMDI slots being used. Shelves with physical copies both in cartridge and disc covered one wall, with a few miniatures too: a blond girl in blue dress and armor slashing the air with a sword made of wind; a guy with spiky hair and large sword standing next to a motorcycle garage kit she put together; a mustachioed man with red shirt and blue overalls next to a yellow cube – she had more at home but those looked nice in the current setup. There was a Snorlax bean bag chair by the shelf and some game-based pushies on her bed: named a green cactus-like creature, a blue spiky being with large eyes and thin arms and legs, and a dark purple scary-looking pokemon. The school provided her with air conditioning to keep the electronics in top condition, a mini-fridge and a gaming computer full setup – computer games aren’t very common in Japan for a number of reasons, Chiaki wasn’t necessarily interested in having such potent machine as long she could play some indies, but having a gamer desktop was now something she was eager to explore. Thankfully today her room was somewhat tied up. Usually one could find a jacket strewn there, some dirty laundry that fell from a chair there, shoes not by the door, and it wasn’t every day she made her bed. But today it was a day after that she played The Sims and she decided to mimic her Neat Sim behavior and clean up after herself to see how it feels like. Not impressed she must admit, but grateful it worked out in the end – it wasn’t like Chiaki was a slob, just unconcerned. Besides, unless she is reorganizing her collection she is usually focusing right in front of the television and hardly bothers messing around so her room is usually in an “acceptable” shape. Not as girly as her peers, some might consider it even tomboy, but she doesn’t mind.
❝ Not quite, Sonia-chan. Luigi receives a letter on the mail saying he has won a mansion as the grand prize in a contest that he never entered. When he arrives, he realizes it is a trap, there is a bunch of ghosts and his older brother Mario was taken hostage. He gets a vacuum cleaner called Poltergust 3000 and has to walk through the dark rooms and hallways capturing ghosts and searching for his brother. ❞ she explained the plot, although how her friend reached to Cluendo was really a jump worthy of Princess Peach ❝ There are Cluendo adaptations and many mystery games, like Sherlock Holmes Chapter One and Poirot the First Cases. The only mystery in Luigi’s Mansion is who is behind Mario’s kidnapping. ❞ which might not be a mystery at all for people who are keen in the Mario lore or newcomers that have no clue, for them it is just a fun romp.
When the description of Dead by Daylight picked Sonia’s interest Chiaki moved to the computer and opened the browser, searching for a trailer featuring all the killers and putting it in full screen, showcasing what she meant. ❝ At first they released killers inspired by existing archetypes. For example, the Hillbilly was inspired by Leatherface and the Spirit was inspired by Sadako-san. Eventually both Leatherface and Sadako-san became collaboration characters. ❞ Chiaki lowered the audio a little so Sonia could hear better to the explanation. ❝ Each killer have their own powers and play styles and you can roughly customize them to fit how you play better. The killers have been tasked by The Entity to hunt down and sacrifice the Survivors, they must patrol the areas and attack the Survivors, catching them and taking them to a sacrificial hook to hang until the Entity consumes the prey. The Survivors have items and each have unique perks to help them to survive that are inspired by their backstories. They must power up 5 different generators to open the two exit gates to leave the area, and can go and try to rescue any other Survivor while they are hoisted by the hook. Neither of the games I told you are mystery games I’m afraid, they are both action horror. ❞ she wasn’t going to info dump Sonia about the nuances of horror games – action horror, survival horror, psychological horror and so on. ❝ If you want a horror mystery, there’s Layers of Fear , Until Dawn, Remothered, Alan Wake, Murdered : Soul Suspect…Oh, Sinking City is pretty cool too. Song of Horror and World of Horror could fit too. ❞
As Chiaki devoted at least part of her attention to whichever gaming console boasted her most recently acquired title, Sonia had taken up residence on her usual spot: sprawled, if a bit gracefully, across Chiaki Nanami's bed. Their rooms couldn't be more different: Chiaki's arranged entirely around the most optimal gaming functionality (with a few of her figures on display: Sonia suspected they brought an atmosphere to whenever Chiaki might engage in the streaming for fans who clamored to watch her play), and her own the portrait of elegance, home away from home. Quite literally: Headmaster Kirigiri had been bullied by Queen Valentina to permit one of the Royal Interior Designers on campus a month before Sonia's arrival. The man, and a team of seventy-five workers, had transformed the 'unacceptable room, suitable for prisoners only' to something suitable for the Princess of Novoselic: sage green silk draperies, the canopy bed, replica paintings and artifacts from Novoselic Castle, fresh flowers delivered weekly, and perhaps most importantly, half of another dorm that was fashioned into Sonia's closet and attached armory. For emergencies.
Sonia hadn't bothered to try and fight it: at the time, she hadn't been in the mood, and at the end of the day she did rather fancy her separate bath and shower, the former large and luxurious enough to fully stretch her legs with jacuzzi jets to soothe the stress away. But Chiaki's room always felt more normal, what she rather expected a typical Japanese girl's room to look like: if the girl in question was undoubtedly the best gamer in Japan in many, many different games, if not the world. Chiaki seemingly felt more at ease in her own space, it was where her consoles and computer were, and Sonia felt at ease in the company of her best friend. Chiaki was one of the few people she knew who didn't care that she'd been born into a tradition that spanned nearly a thousand years, with a level of luxury the average person could only dream of. Instead, she talked about the games she thought Sonia would like while Sonia, back flat against Chiaki's comforter, held her mobile phone in front of her face, scrolling with a discerning eye.
As usual, the second thing she'd done (after asking Chiaki how she was feeling that day and what was new) was look through her friend's refrigerator. The stereotype, she'd come to understand, that the lifestyle of The Gamers was to leave disgusting amounts of mess wherever they went and be subject to an overabundance of caffeine and malnutrition. Chiaki proved the first point wrong: it did not seem any less in a state of disarray than the rooms of some of their classmates whom she'd been invited to visit. But the second...well.
It was nothing a mobile delivery order couldn't fix. Prepackaged foods weren't exactly the most nutritious, but Sonia supposed styrofoam bowls of dried noodles and seasonings, fresh fruit, vegetables cut up into bite-size pieces, bottles of mineral water and tea, and several pre-made bento offerings would encourage her best friend to take a break and refuel herself properly (energy drinks didn't count). Her characters had that bar with a heart above their heads, did they not? The ones that indicated health? Surely Chiaki must have realized when her own was low-
"A mansion? Owned by a man named Luigi?" She asked, eyebrows raised as she pressed the 'place order' button on the touchscreen. If all went to plan, the various shopping bags would arrive within three hours or less. "Is it akin to Cluedo, but as a video game that takes place in Italy? That could be fascinating, indeed!" It was the most Sonia could riddle out from the title Chiaki had given her, and if it was made in Japan, it would be interesting to see how they created European culture for a Japanese audience.
But it was the next description that had Sonia's mobile phone flung unceremoniously on the mattress, the Ultimate Princess springing to her feet before taking a seat next to her best friend, a familiar zeal in her eyes. It was the same one that emerged whenever she experienced a new, and often mundane, part of Japanese culture...and whenever someone brought one of her hobbies into conversation. "You may play video games as famous murderers like Freddy Kreuger or Pinhead!?" She exclaimed, clearly more enthusiastic about playing as her favorite villains heroes than she was about controlling the movements of Ash Williams or Laurie Strode. Not that she disliked them and, if given the opportunity, would eagerly meet Bruce Campbell and Jamie Lee Curtis. But the prospect of asking the victims what their favorite scary movie was...it was too enticing to pass up.
"Please, Chiaki-chan!" Sonia turned to her friend, taking one of her hands in both of her own, a pleading look on her face. Determined, too: Chiaki had dangled the proverbial carrot before her and Sonia was now out to take the largest bite. "I would like to see the famous killers! And the final people. But the killers! Please show me how to play!" A thoughtful pause then, as Sonia settled herself into her spot on the sofa. They had several hours, at least, until the food showed up.
"It is a murder and a mystery sort of game, yes?" She grinned, waiting for Chiaki to show her more. "That sounds most excellent! I imagine it would be quite wonderful if it was a dating simulation, too!" Even if it didn't occur to Sonia that most players would not consider the likes of Pinhead or Ghost Face as a suitable otome game love interest.
#more than a princess#x nanami#I do have two of the items mentioned in her room. can you figure out which ones?#hint: it isn't the obvious answer

[ALT available, ID: The manga cover for "Sadako-san and Sadako-chan" by Aya Tsutsumi. Sadako-san stands in the center of the image, standing in her iconic pose with her hair hanging down in front of her face, while Sadako-chan nervously peeks out from behind her nightgown. Sadako-san is the taller, ghostly girl with long hair known as Sadako Yamamura from The Ring movies, while Sadako-chan is a young girl who resembles Sadako-san, though she appears to be human and alive. Both are wearing white nightgowns. Orko has been edited in on the other side of Sadako-san, and his robes have been edited white to resemble a nightgown. The title, which says "Sadako-san and Sadako-chan", has been edited to include "and Orko" at the end of it. /end ID]
