Anyways I’m probably going to be sharing mostly traditional art and little digital stuff due to “recent events”

rest in piss my sweet, but dastardly bastard of an iPad! They aren’t gone just… won’t let me use any app now for more than 10-30 seconds… the urge and desire to draw in procreate keeps burning my mind even though it won’t work…

I’m not fine… I ain’t holding up well, it’s like checking the fridge for something to eat while fully aware that there isn’t anything to eat inside…

I'm not starting a new game.

I considered it for a while, but ultimately, I just don't want to. Not this one. It's not a horrible game, but it's certainly not a great one, and it's probably the worst of The Sims series. If I'm gonna start anew, I'm going back to 3. I'll even pay for them again. (Not likely)

I loved all of it, don't get me wrong, but it's not a rational or justifiable love, and dedicating time and attention to it when there's other, more desirable sandboxes for me to play in feels like a bad decision. It's pure nostalgia that would keep me there and I just don't have the rose tint strong enough.

I liked lots of things. The scientist career in get to work was my favorite. I liked the aliens, too, and seasons. I liked the genetics, to the extent that I think they should have gone farther. I liked the aging options. (Only played house)

But it left a lot to be desired. For instance, I had to play aging like I did because the neighborhood didn't do anything without me. The AI is trash and the commands still fall off at random and need me to pry the sim off the computer. There still is no Fertilize All. They still go turn on the radio to dance in the sleeping baby's room. They still leave the dishes in the floor.

And that's just stuff that isn't supposed to be like that. There's shit like, they're fucking impossible to kill. It takes them six hours to eat breakfast and do homework even when the command chain doesn't get lost or the animation never gets locked up and confused. Pets take up household member spots. None of the wood grain on the walls matches any of the floors and neither of those matches any furniture.

The game is massive. It's massive and I have maybe a grand total of ten add-ons. I can't imagine how much computer I would need to hold $4k of it. (I can't remember how much it actually is, so I be hyperbolic.)

And then EA is just getting worse. Stuff packs and kits are bullshit, bugs run rampant, and the only thing they can do to fix the bugs is fuck up the mods applied to fix the fucking game.

This most recent news has not helped. I won't say I was looking forward to 5, but I certainly didn't want to hear that they were just going to keep bloating this game and try to dip their hands into the creators' pockets. And I certainly don't want Multiplayer. I can think of one way anyone even would, and I don't even want to do that. (Minecraft server-y where you share the same file and build and work on the same worlds/families)

I lost my save and I was sad, but I'm not really sad to see this game out of my life. I love the stories, going with little gobbo thoughts and sparking affairs and shit, but without a previously existing investment, I don't want to put anything new in.

I am gonna leave this blog here. I might finish up everyone's eulogies.

Not gonna miss the game. I am gonna miss that save.

Previously on garden gobbo adventures;

I planted some lavender seeds, and genuinely didn't expect anything from it. But I wanted to try! I think my work on the near-impossible-to-kill catnip in the garden outside may have bolstered my confidence a bit more than it should have, but I'm riding that high and planted a few other things gs that day too.

So that was planted on the 4th of May. Along with some apple seeds from a couple store bought Royal Gala apples that had been gestating in the fridge for a few weeks, a purple cala lily my mom gave me for my birthday in December, and a yellow cala lily she got from the dollar store. Both cala lilies were bulbs in some wood chips, but the purple one was a fancier kit with some mulch and a flower pot included. I didn't use that pot though, just cause I wanted the lilies to be in matching ones.

Jump forward a bit to the 12th and 13th. The pots and seed tray have been chilling under the uv grow light thing since the 4th. It's on a timer, so it's on from I think 6am to 9pm, though I'd added an hour after bring inside the mint. (More on that later.) To my genuine amazement, not only did five of the apple seeds actually sprout;

But one single little seedling sprouted from the lavender!?

Look at that little guy go! So far, that is the only one that's sprouted, but I've read that lavender seeds tend to sprout inconsistently so well see.

Interestingly, that weekend we'd gone over to Steven's mom's and step dad's place to change the tires on their car and have some burgers, and turns out she had some lavender growing in a very shallow patch of dirt by their kitchen window. I guess it was just kinda a space filler she'd thrown in there a few years ago, so she let me take some of it!

In other words I'm not overly concerned if my lavender goes nowhere, especially since I'd only grabbed it on a whim.

But even more surprising to me is those apple seeds!? On the 14th they'd grown quiet a bit and now there is 6!

We also got the first peeking of the purple cala lily!

The 14th is also the day I finished up with my garden chunk by adding mulch to the whole bed, including where I'd just transplanted the lavender the day before. And I have to say, it's looking preeety snazzy.

I admit I was a bit worried about some of the smaller catnip plants because after the initial transplanting they were looking a bit sad and wilty. But the mulch on top helped so much. My mom said it would, but I underestimated how much it was going to.

I can do traditional sketches but I mostly finalize my work in digital and color…

But I was able to finish one thing

Man I was gonna be pulling up my story beats on my iPad before remembering what I just said!
