Capitalism Really Popped Off Today: Moderoid Edition
Moderoid had their Summer Mecha Impact fest, and they really just decided I didn't want my money anymore. They just decided to announce they're going to do a model of one of my favorite giant robots of all time, Volkein.
Tumblr media
Oh, and because teasing Volkein wasn't enough, Moderoid decided they were going to take a swing at making a Getter One & Gunbuster that can transform...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because having models for the Ingram as well as the Rune Gods really wasn't enough to make a plastic crack addict like me sweat, right?

So Bucky Barnes is one of my mcu faves, yes? Yes. And while I haven’t been hyped about him since I jumped across the pond of superhero franchises, he’s still my darling that I like to think about an inappropriate amount.
Now obviously anyone who follows me has the misfortune of noticing the new fave I fawn over is Jason Todd [another dark haired-blue eyed dude with so much whumpy potential, what am I, Batman???] -
Ehem! Back on point
Since my mind hasn’t let Bucky sink into the abyss along with my other fandom interest, it decided to conjure a crossover instead.
You know! Typical things like the Batfam come across a deep freezed Bucky in a storage unit or some shit, whether or not Bucky’s of another dimension or not, if this is before Steve’s defrosting - mostly this scenario consists of them essentially making him the family bodyguard while they help him heal.
And lastly as of this morning: Instead of the LoA finding him, Hydra finds Jason instead [or Ra’s basically sells his catatonic ass to them], don’t know if I’m more inclined of Hydra knowing about the Bats or not [I do know they do have a pending hit on Bruce, that’s for sure], Jason gets the classic WS treatment, superserum heals him instead of the LP and is basically WS!Bucky’s right hand [older brother instincts in Bucky have been activated lol]. Broship galore!
I’m still pondering whether Batfam discovers him on their own, or by Bruce being Jason’s mission

October 29, 1923: The first radio broadcast in Germany goes on air
Radio had a rough start in Germany. At the end of World War I, where the German army was among the pioneers in radio communication, during the November Revolution, revolutionary workers occupied the headquarters of the German press and news service, falsely claiming the victory of the communist and socialist revolutionary forces. This made the social democratic government to impose harsh restrictions on radio broadcast, which severely hampered the development of the new medium in Germany:
Only the state had the sovereign right of to set up and operate transmitting and receiving systems
Private individuals were prohibited to receive any radio broadcast
Receivers were limited in their technical characteristics, supported by a requirement for state approval for any new model
This led to the state-controlled postal service becoming a monopolist serving a small number of (mostly public) institutions. Nonetheless, the first entertainment broadcast was distributed at Christmas 1920, when postal employees brought instruments to the broadcast center in Königs Wusterhausen (south of Berlin), played music and recited poems.
After heavy lobbying by radio pioneers such as Hans Bredow, complaints and public discontent and increasing numbers of illegal self-made private receivers, which frequently caused interferences, the harsh restrictions were finally lifted in 1923. Each owner of a state-approved receiver had to register as a "radio participant" and pay a license fee. In autumn of 1923, at the height of the inflation, a license cost 780 billion Mark per year, a sum that only very few were able and willing to afford. Thst's why the first broadcast by Funk-Stunde Berlin from a studio in the Vox House on October 29, 1923 has no (paying) listeners. The first registered participant was Berlin tobacco retailer Wilhelm Kollhoff, who received his license and his radio on October 31.
Rapidly, a number of radio stations opened throughout Germany, which were consolidated under the umbrella organization "Reichs-Rundfunk-Gesellschaft".
Infamously, radio became the main propaganda instrument of the Nazis, who quickly forced all radio stations into line, sending the liberal radio pioneers to the first concentration camps. The development and widespread distribution of a cheap radio receiver, the "Volksempfänger" ("people's receiver"), made radio a medium for the masses. Nonetheless, only 46.9 % of the German households had a radio in 1937, compared with the USA or the UK, which had already a density of 78.3 % and 66.1 %, respectively.
After World War II, radio developed differently in East and West Germany. Radio in East Germany remained state-controlled, sending communist propaganda now. In the West, organizations under public law were founded in the federal states, funded by fees of radio users and controlled by bodies in which the relevant societal groups are equally represented. In the 1980s, private radio stations were allowed.
Because Germany received only very few AM frequencies as part of the sactions after World War II, development of FM radio was accelerated, leading to new standards in the quality of transmission and HiFi stereo radio. Radio established itself as a promoter of culture in the area of literature and music. The stations set up symphonic and dance orchestras, big bands, choirs, and elaborate audioplay studios. They were also pioneering promoters of electronic music. In the recent years, however, the importance of radio as promoters of high culture has diminished more and more. With the exceptions of a few stations, radio is regarded as background entertainment for people who cannot stand silence.
In the future, it is expected that the split between music and entertainment, high culture, and information will will deepen. Radio as a promotor of culture will probably not play a role any more. Taking over podcast productions may revive the role of radio as an opinion-forming medium. Radio is still unrivalled as the fastest medium, being able to provide the latest news virtually in real-time.

ok @redfish-blu and @venomroses I couldnt find my own post but I did find my notes I originally wrote so I'm copy pasting them here
Battery City Gentrification Headcannons
Ok lets pretend the fab four really are super famous lethal gunslinging rebels who rescued the desert's biggest secret and are always being pursued by Korse and Co.
In the city BLI wants people to not become like them so they have some stuff
Patty Perscription, Fun Girl, Snake Boy, and Jet Pack or some shit are the off brand toned down diluted version of the fab four that are used as oh man I really want to be a rebel Im going to spend alll this money to pretend to be a rebel by paying BLI oh Im so rebelious now look at me and my authentic merch and then they go take their company sactioned vacations in minimalist tiny houses out in zone one. There's uhh like fake little pop up tents with people selling stuff and they all have like custom spraypaint shirts on n shit. But if you want to sell there you have to be all registered n crap and only speak English and no consumables injectables or legitimate weaponry for maiming killing or altering prescriptions.
There's also the Static Panics: which are a group that also have merch but always seem just a bit more legit so you can go on your more rebellious than thou thing and infighting. They have creepy stuff like glossy well printed zines, 3d printed masks, identical "distressed" clothes, all of their songs sound exactly the same, extremely controled and staged media presence.
The zones and the lobby (abandoned subway tunnels where actual rebels and droid hang) should have percieta eyes kinds of murals*
*if you dont know what that is lmk ill elaborate

For those not in the know, Argentine president Javier Milei's Omnibus Law (a nightmare bill with articles that would expand the president's powers and privatise state properties, among other things) was turned down yesterday.
It had been approved in general on Friday, and they were voting for the particular articles in this session, but apparently some congresspeople who had promised a yes were voting no (my guess is the soft opposition [radicals] wanted more money?). La Libertad Avanza (Milei's party) called for a break to evaluate the situation, and when they came back said that either they passed it or the bill went back to commissions, seemingly under the impression that they'd keep the general saction.
BUT Article 155 of the rules of Congress, which clearly NONE of them read, states that if a partially sanctioned bill goes back to commissions it's like it never got voted. They have to start from zero after having already shown their cards just because they don't now how the laws work--the Minister of Interior had to have it explained to him on live television. This is a massive win because there's no memory of any government here having the first bill of their administration rejected. Right now Milei is in Israel, mass-liking tweets that say the congressmen in question are little whores and they should go to civil war for this.

Did Robespierre have conflicts with others on the day he was arrested? I have read someone said that he was missing his shoes and his stocking was folded down to the ankles after arrested (And I also saw a drawing depicted as the description) . If he just intended to commit suiside, there may be lower possibility that he was seen like that.
The fact that Robespierre’s clothes were in disorder after he was arrested and laid out on the table at the Committee of Public Safety comes from the anonymous pampleth Faits recueillis aux derniers instants de Robespierre et de sa saction, du 9 au 10 thermidor (1794):
As for Robespierre, he was missing his shoes, his stockings were folded down to the ankles, his culottes were unbuttoned, and his entire shirt was covered with blood.
Exactly how this happened is hard to know for sure, but the same pampleth also reports that the people who took Robespierre away after he was shot tore apart his shirt and coat, and it doesn’t seem impossible they would have messed up the rest of his clothes too:
One penetrates the interior of the Maison commune; one finds Robespierre, in a room next to the board room; he is lying on the ground, wounded by a gunshot that penetrated his jaw, one picks him up, and sans-culottes carry him by the feet and the head, there are at least twelve people around him; one tears apart the sleeve of his right hand, and the back of his redingote, which was blue.
According to one witness, Augustin Robespierre was spotted on the cornice of the Hôtel de Ville ”with his shoes in his hand” before attempting to jump to his death from there. It’s not impossible Max took off his shoes for the same purpose, but then changed his mind/got shot before being able to go through with it.
I can’t find any other testimony among those gathered here that suggest Robespierre’s clothes were messed up anytime before the shot, so I would say the most likely scenario is that he was mistreated by the people who met him after it. But you saintspierre shippers out there can surely come up with some other reason too…

i like how grandmaster is like . a chess term i think anyway pastex grandmasters ... the giga grandmaster... the mega grandmaster ... the sigma grandmaster ...
YEAH LMAO it doesnt gave any reason for being that eitther I just eent "yeah that sounds cool"
A cool thing also is that every grandmaster gets their own title/sactioned name indicating which one they are. And really that only started happening post-bombs since they lost the names of some of the previous grandmasters. So like Grandmaster Primus wadnt named that, he was probably named like. John or smth. But thats his posthumous name since no1 knows.
And now all the grandmasters are given that. Like lets say we're on grandmaster 20, his sactioned name is Grandmaster Vicesimum

Anon just discovered your blog, and I completely agree with you that Cobra Kai tears down everything the 1984 Karate Kid stood for.
But the problem is, to some extent, this is what fandom culture has always done. Fandom was created, in the first place, to tear down the values of older generations in hopes that newer and hopefully kinder values would replace them. Star Trek, the first fandom, was a potshot at older generations' values, promoting its own vision of a utopian society.
Even the original Karate Kid tore down the values of mainstream American society so that an "underdog" like Daniel LaRusso could win.
The problem is, now fandom is tearing down OUR values as we once tore down the values of older generations. Cobra Kai is doing the same thing to us that Karate Kid did to previous generations: it's tearing down everything we stand for, in hopes that their own values will replace us.
I love the original Karate Kid movie trilogy as much as you do, and I share your frustration with the Cobra Kai series. But unfortunately, while the "opinions" of fandom have changed, its basic nature has not.
That's why protesting against fandom never changes anything: because to some degree, fandom is acting the same as it always has. It's just that now we're on the other end of this behavior, when it used to be done in our favor.
Would that this were fandom, Nonnie. It would be easy to ignore, agree to disagree, move on. If I got myself in a twist over every fandom take I disagree with, I would welcome your cautioning me, really. But I feel that this situation is different for several reasons:
Trek, as far as I'm aware (not very), was an original work. To which I say, have at it. Whatever your beliefs, go write them down, I'm very free not to engage with it. And I don't mind if an original work is a very thinly veiled spinoff. If they'd have written The Kung Fu Kid with evil Miyagi and a character named Johnny Lawless who defeats insufferable Daniel Nero with the power of Real Manhood, good luck to them. This happens all the time. Doesn't stop my enjoyment in any way. Rick &Morty is Back to the Future fic, and indeed its point is that Back to the Future needs revision perhaps? Or not. Wasn't really for me. But it's not officially a continuation, so no harm done. I don't have to re-evaluate those films because Rick&Morty exists, it doesn't affect the franchise, not officially.
Cobra Kai on the other hand very strongly suggests that it's canon. And if you want to piggyback on a built-in audience, the message of the original, the events shown in the original, you're not free to ignore. Again, it's not even a remake! And then to presume you can retroactively change the message of a classic because you don't agree with it is audience betrayal. What inbuilt audience would agree to sit down to a series that said: you know that piece of media you love? Well you're wrong. It is SHIT. And I am going to show you why, if I have to change the original story to make that point. No, they've actively misled the audience. And that hurts people. Mark Hamill was pissed at how they've ruined Luke Skywalker in Star Wars VIII. Because that's not fandom, that's forcing your own reading on something that isn't yours. I agree that fandom does this, too, but that is by consent of those engaging with it. This series may be born of fandom, but it's a hijacking, a sactioning of a viewpoint that undermines a bond between film and audience. And now the viewpoint: you're all suckers and your comfort character is a criminal is officially part of the story. It's simply not right.
Thirdly, these values aren't new. They're conservative for the 1970's. This is backlash. True, history isn't linear, and backlash is part of life. But I disagree with the notion that there is anything innovative in the viewpoint that violence is a good idea, adult women only exist to support men, there has to be a strict gender binary in sports, only conventionally attractive women should be on the show and full body shots of young women lounging in the sun, with no narrative context, is somehow not exploitative. And before anyone asks, I don't mind watching Jacob Betrand and Tanner Buchanan with their shirts off, but that is as objectifying and cheap. "Look! We're exploiting boys, too", doesn't feel like progress.
And I know I'm simply yelling at clouds here, with no use other than that it makes me feel better. That's why I'm tagging most of this only with ck negativity, so that anyone who doesn't want to look at it can block the tag and continue life unbothered by my ranting. I don't want to spoil people's fandom fun in the cobra kai tag.
