Hey! Have you ever seen Masha and the bear?
I was just thinking this idea while making breakfast for my family, so how about Masha!reader x Whitebeard pirates or young!Asl. You pick.
Thanks! Have a good day
Treasure Hound (Asl x child!reader)
A/N- and with this I officially have finished my June/July requests ✊🏽. Goal is to finish september’s this week. Also I have in fact never heard of this animation which is crazy after I read how popular it is so I tried to capture Masha as best I could but it probably is not that close but hopefully close enough!
Reader here is replaced by Dokucha which stands for Reader in Japanese for the enjoyment of both reader and oc character readers alike!

Sabo, are you sure she’s related to you?” Ace asked incredulously from his spot on his branch, watching as she rambunctiously ran around the clearing, putting even Luffy to shame as the latter struggled to keep up with the smaller girl
“Of course she is!” Had Sabo not known Ace to be so blunt, he would have likely taken offense at such a question
“Doesn’t look like that,” he muttered, taking a glance at the blond and looking back at the girl as she ran circles around Luffy, causing the latter to grow dizzy and fall back, eyes rolling around in his sockets
“She just needs to burn out all her energy. It’s always like this in the mornings,” he replied, letting out a snicker as Dokucha began shaking the poor boy in an attempt to snap him awake.
"We should let her take a look at the map we found the other day; maybe she can crack it," Sabo piped up
“No way! Sabo, we busted our asses trying to get that map; I‘m not about to trust it to a four-year-old!” Ace sneered, not willing to risk their latest treasure to what he thought to be an unnecessary risk
“She’s a lot, Ace, but she wouldn’t purposely try to destroy something, especially if she knows it’s important to me. Not to mention that, yes, she’s four, but she’s really smart; she’s especially good with plans and drafts like these,” Sabo called as he pulled out the Map
“Come on, Ace, trust me! Plus, I‘m pretty sure giving her the lead will tire her and Luffy, too!” He grinned, knowing that would be the last push the former needed
“Tch, if something happens, it’s on you,” he snarled, finally easing into his suggestion, ignoring the satisfied smirk the blond gave him as he jumped off the branch
“Dokucha come here! I got something for you!” He called, watching as the girl zoomed towards him, leaving the poor Luffy to fend off his spinning brain.
“Do you want to go on a treasure hunt?” he offered as he waved the map around, knowing the hyperactive child would never say no to an adventure or the chance to use her skills.
“Yeah!” She exclaimed as she snatched it from his hand and threw herself on the ground with him, stretching the map before them; Ace and Luffy following shortly after.
“We know the treasure is around here, but we couldn’t figure out these,” Ace told her as he pointed out what appeared to be a random arrangement of letters and numbers.
“Ah! It’s a cipher!” She beamed, stretching her arm out towards his brother without taking her eyes off the map; without any need for words, he handed her a pencil, watching as she began scribbling furiously
“Oh, what is that?!” Luffy questioned as he leaned in. Watching as the girl began to draw what looked to be a table, with each boxed being filled with a letter of the alphabet, adding some letters and numbers to the side and top of the table
“It’s a Grid code! Each letter and number stands for a specific letter! I just have to see where they intercept,” she prattled on as she continued writing away
“You already solved it?!” Ace gaped. The boy stared at the scribbles, shocked. He knew he wasn’t the best at solving puzzles, but he had thought himself to be above the girl in front of him.
“Told you she was smart,” Sabo boasted, a prideful glint in his eyes.
“Alright!” Dokucha exclaimed as she shot up from her spot, not paying any mind to the boys as she sprinted away following the directions she had deciphered from the map
“W-wait Dokucha! You need to wait for us!” Sabo called as he ran after the girl
“Don’t lose sight of her, Sabo!” Ace yelled as he, too, shot after the girl
“Hey! Wait for me!” Luffy cried as he followed after them
Tumblr media
“Sabo, what the hell did your parents feed her?” Ace huffed out as he and Sabo threw themselves into the comfort of their sleeping bags. After they followed the girl as she traversed through the forest, crossed through rivers, and climbed mountains, they were exhausted, but it had been worth it after they had managed to find the biggest loot they had in years. To make it even better, it turns out that the plan had worked perfectly as Dokucha had also been tired out, not after running and bouncing around the place for another hour, which had also taken Luffy out.
“Well, our father and mother didn’t really fancy a daughter; they didn’t have any immediate use for her, so they just…locked her in a room, forcing her to study hours on end with no other entertainment but the books around her. So she hasn’t had the chance to run and play around like this.” Sabo sighed as he forced himself up and walked towards her, throwing a blanket over her and Luffy before returning to his spot next to Ace.
“Well, you’re parents are assholes, but we will show them, Sabo! Once we get our ship, we will show them all wrong.” he grinned as he lifted himself slightly to address his brother
“You will be a pirate that everyone will know the name of, and I will show Dokucha how big the world is and write a book about it.” Sabo grinned
“And Luffy will ****************” Ace cackled, remembering the jaw-dropping dream the crazy boy had uttered
“We will take this world by surprise, us four!”

Can you do older sibling reader x younger ASL brothers
(When Ace and Sabo was 10 and Luffy was 7, reader is 2 years older than Ace so shes 12)
Can you do reader who puts others need infront of hers, espically with her brothers and her so called "family" (mountain bandits) so usually risking herself for her family (Ace wakes her head somtimes causing a bump on her head). for example, when luffy almost got eaten by a crocodile she litterly jumped into the water and pryed the crocodile mouth open.
Thank you and make sure to drink some water♡
Tumblr media
Hey. These two requests were very similar so I decided to combine them and answer them together. I hope that ‘a okay. Please enjoy!
Platonic ASL Brothers with a Protective Older Sister
Tumblr media
You were Ace, Sabo and Luffy’s older sworn sister.
By two years to be exact.
You were always protective of them and your family.
Like any good older sibling should
But you never did what you wanted.
You did everything for them.
With the money you got at Party’s, you spent it on them
Never you.
When someone got into trouble, you took care of it
You took watch at night in case someone came to attack
After a while of putting everyone else first and protecting everyone, you became somewhat emotionless and stoic.
No one liked this because they missed the version of you  that would smile and enjoy life.
Out of all of the boys, you were closest with Ace because you two were both really protective
Sometimes he’d take watch with you
Luffy was the one that made you most nervous (you’d never show it though)
He was dumb and reckless.  Enough said
Sabo was Sabo…
Even though everyone in your family told you to relax, you still wouldn’t
That was you
And they still loved you anyways

A/n: Hello my sweets! Unfortunately, I got locked out of my old blog account, so I had to make a new one! So, chances of you having seen this before are high as it's on my old account! (I am so sad about it honestly). But I am going through all my old accounts posts and reuploading them here! I hope you can still enjoy my works!
______________________________________________________________
"Sabo-nii! Get down from there!" Your voice rang throughout the forest, causing some birds to fly from the trees nearby. You stood there cranking your neck up as far as your little neck could go as you shield your eyes from the sun, trying to get a better look at the shadowed figure above. Sabo, who sat high up in the tree, hummed as he looked down at you, tilting his hat back a bit. "Hm? Oh! Haha! Hey Y/n!" He laughed, smiling down at you with his usual toothy grin. You stood there looking at him, a pout on your lips as you went to shout your next words at the blonde boy. "Ace said he wouldn't be here till late because of Luffy, so spend some time with me! I'm bored, and you guys always do cool things without me!" You whined; cheeks puffed out in anger as you stomped your foot.
Sabo smirked down at you, finding it so much fun when his little sister got angry. "If you want to hang out, climb up here with me!" He laughed as he watched your pouting face turn into shock and horror. "EEEEEEH?!?!" You yelled out in disbelief. You looked at the tree, slowly following its trunk from the ground to where your brother stood proudly. Your shocked expression soon turns to a glare as you look at the older boy. Seeing as he was your older brother, Sabo knew all too well that you weren't a good climber and had a slight fear of heights, so he wanted to try teasing you. You turn from him, placing your hands on your hips as you puff out your cheeks, not wanting to give your brother the satisfaction of watching you suffer. "Humph! I'll wait down here for Ace! After all, he's way more reliable and cuter, too~" You sang, a mischievous glint in your eyes, one you knew your brother could not see from his position in the tree.
You knew Sabo was an overly protective brother regarding boys, even ones he was close with, such as Ace and Luffy. Sabo never liked you hanging around boys without him and would always chase them away when he would finally notice. You see Sabo's body stiffen in the corner of your eye, causing you to laugh as you push your teasing a bit more. "Who knows, maybe Ace will be my husband in the future!" You declared, shrugging your shoulders as you pretended to shake your head innocently. Glancing back at Sabo, you saw the look of horror cross his face as he almost stumbled off the tree branch, he was on, quickly trying to regain his balance. "L-LIKE HELL YOU WILL!" He yelled in a voice filled with utter fear at the thought of his sweet sister marrying his troublemaking friend. You watched as he quickly climbed down from the tree, running over to you.
You giggled as he ran up to you, taking your hand, a slight pout on his face as he looked you in the eye. "You're not allowed to get married to any guy so long as I'm around!" He protectively yelled while tapping a hand to his chest. You just smiled at him as you held his hand while rolling your eyes at how ridiculous he was. "Hehe, I got you to come down! So now you can spend time with me!" You proudly proclaimed while jumping up and down, relishing your small victory over your older brother.
Sabo looked at you, shocked for a moment, before smiling as he joined in on your laughter. The two of you hunched over, holding your stomachs as tiny blush on both cheeks as you try to catch your breath. "You little brat!" You let out a squeal as Sabo went and pounced on you, efficiently trapping you in a tickle attack, causing you to roll around in the dirt and grass, tears flooding your eyes. "Hahaha! N-no, stop! Don't do that!" You pleaded, trying to escape his grasp, but to no avail. "I won't stop until you surrender!" He shouted, a cocky grin on his face as he continued his tickle war. "Hahaha! OK! OK! I surrender! I surrender!" You shouted, trying to push him away, your child's lungs trying to regain some air quickly. Sabo smiled at this victory over his little sister before stopping his assault as he backed away with a small laugh, watching as you tried to regain your breath. "That's so not fair, Sabo-nii!" You whined, hitting his shoulder, causing him to flinch.
He smiled nervously at you while rubbing the spot you had just hit while sitting in the grass next to you. "Brothers never play fair! Remember that!" He grinned while pointing a finger at you, laughing. You rolled your eyes at him, shaking your head as you waved him off after a few years. After a moment of silence between the two, you spoke up, pulling your knees closer to your chest as you glanced at your brother. "Hey... Sabo-nii?" You asked, causing him to hum and look at you curiously, his hat falling forward as he tilted his head in your direction. "Yeah?" He questioned, a small smile on his face. You looked at him briefly before smiling nervously as you hid your face in your knees before speaking, "I like it better out here...away from momma and papa." Sabo didn't say anything for a moment before nodding as he went and took a leaf out of your hair. "Yeah, me too! I'm never going back!" He shouted quickly, jumping up, causing you to flinch at the sudden action. "All I need is my little sister by my side, and we'll be able to rule the world!" He cheered, smiling down at you as he offered one of his tiny hands towards you.
You looked up at him in awe for a moment before smiling a giant smile as you nodded. "Yep!" You cheered, taking his hand in yours as he helped you off the ground. "Hehe! We'll always be together, right Sabo?!?!" You laughed, looking at him with bright (e/c) eyes. Sabo nods at you, giving a big thumbs up, "Yep! That's right!" The two of you laughed at each other before hearing your names being called from behind. "Oi! Sabo! Y/n! Where are you?!" Ace's voice echoed throughout the trees. Sabo smiled as he waved a hand to get his friend's attention. "Over here!" Ace looked at you guys and smiled quickly, running over to you, Luffy following close behind a piece of meat hanging from his mouth. Once Ace reached you both, he placed his hands on his knees, catching his breath before jumping up with immense energy. "Ready for some fun?!" Ace asked, that usual mischievous smirk on his face as he put his hands behind his head. The two of you looked at each other, smiling.
"Let's do this!"
________
You silently walked down the halls of the Revolutionary Army's base, your boots clicking against the cement floor echoing off the blank white walls. "Ah! Hey Y/n! There you are!" You heard the familiar voice of Koala cheer from behind, causing you to stop in your tracks. You looked back and smiled slightly, an eyepatch over your right eye, a bit of a nasty scar leaking out from the small piece of fabric. "Oh, Koala, hello." You greeted softly, slightly nodding as she approached you with a bright smile. "So, how are things? Due to your mission, I haven't seen you in a few days." She whined, giving your shoulder a slight shake, cheeks puffed out.
"You didn't even say goodbye! I was so hurt!" You just smiled at her words as you reached into your pocket, pulling out a small piece of candy before tossing it at the revolutionary officer. "My apologies, Koala, everything just happened so fast that day." You confess sincerity in your voice as you give a small apologetic smile as compensation. Koala hums as she tosses the piece of candy into her mouth. "I guess I can forgive you this time." You just chuckled, giving her a slight nudge, which she returned as you continued to walk down the halls. "As for the mission everything went by smoothly. So, I would say it was a success for the revolutionary army!" Koala and you cheered, giving each other high fives for your success against the damn government.
After a moment of silence, you cleared your throat before glancing over at your friend. "... How's Sabo?" Your tone was a pained one filled with love and concern. Koala gave you a sympathetic smile, nodding in understanding to your sudden question as she went and put a slight skip in her step, placing her hands behind her back. "He's doing good! We just got back from a short mission ourselves." She admitted, nodding to herself as she recalled the mission from memory. You just hummed, not giving much of a response at first as you continued to stare ahead at the floor. "Has any of his memories returned to him yet?" Silence filled the hallway as the two of you stopped walking momentarily. Koala could hear the hope in your voice, causing her to frown as she shook her head sympathetically. "I'm afraid not. I'm sorry, Y/n." Koala whispered, her face showing genuine empathy for you and your situation.
A frown crossed your face as you sadly looked to the floor, not muttering a word for a moment as you took in all of Koala's terms. You let out a small sigh before continuing to walk down the halls, a defeated smile crossing your face as you shrug slightly. "Oh well! There's nothing we can do about it!" You laughed as Koala tried to keep up with your sudden steps, a sad look in her eyes as she stared at your side profile for a moment before deciding to ask the question, she's always wondered about you. "Y/n... isn't it painful?" She questioned, causing you to hum and look over at her, a brow raised in curiosity at her words. She stops a few feet behind you, causing your steps to cease. You turn to her halfway, watching as she looks at you with a mix of emotions in her eyes. "Aren't you sad? Knowing your brother doesn't even remember you?"
You look at her surprised momentarily before smiling, a small laugh leaving your lips as your fingers gently caress the black fabric covering where your eye had once been.
________
You had gotten separated from your older brother Sabo, who had been running towards the gates that lead to Gray Terminal to warn Ace and Luffy, along with everyone else, of what was to come soon from the nobles. "Sabo-nii! Sabo-nii, where are you?!?!" You cried out desperately, tears falling from your face. You stood there; right eye wrapped in messy bandages from throwing yourself in front of Ace to shield him from a sword when fighting against the pirates who had taken Luffy away.
You quickly try to rid the tears from your eye as you begin to run in search of your brother once again. As you run, you feel your foot gets caught in a crack in the cement, causing you to trip and fall flat on your face. "Ouch…" You hiss slowly rising to your feet as you glance down at your scrapped up palms and knees.
You felt more tears in your eye as you tried to ignore the pain from smashing your face into the cement. "Ace...Luffy..." You cried, gripping the hem of your shirt. "SABO-NII WHERE ARE YOU?!?!" You screamed, just wanting to be with your friends and older brother, scared of what would or could happen to any of them. You hated this place more than anything, as the nobles here only cared about themselves. Your parents didn't even properly care about your brother and yourself either, as they just saw a chance to rise to a higher status while using their children as steppingstones. "I just wanna go home!" As you continued to cry, someone stopped in front of you. "Why are you crying child?" The voice asked. You opened your eyes, tears still blurring as you tried wiping them away so you could see the person standing before you. Finally, being able to look at the person, you see a man wearing a green cloak, his face tattooed. "I... I don't want to be here... it's scary here...I want to leave this place. I want to be free again." You cried, biting your lip.
"I just wanna be with my friends and big brother!" You cried, looking at the ground. The man said nothing at first while he looked at you, seeing your bandages and the cuts on your knees and hands. Dragon frowned at the sight as he slowly bent down to your level, being cautious not to scare you even more than you already were. "Little girl, are you sure you want to leave here and be free? The world outside can be terrifying and dangerous." He confessed to you, his tone serious as his eyes showed many emotions that overwhelmed your little mind, but you shook that off as you clenched your fist at your shirt. "I know that! I don't care! I can get strong! I can handle the world!" You yelled; eyes filled with determination as you remembered what Sabo had said once about you both being able to take on the world. Dragon smirked at your words as he went and picked you up, catching you by surprise as he carefully placed you on his shoulder. "Then I want you to remember those words you declared out into the world, little girl. Because where I'm going, you're gonna have to try and rule the world with your hand." Dragon glanced at you after speaking those words. You just looked at him, your eye showing determination, causing him to smirk as the two of you left your horrible home. You looked back, watching the smoke rise from what you could only assume was Gray Terminal. "Sabo-nii .... everyone."
_________
The next day, you stood on Dragon's ship staring out at the kingdom of Goa. 'So... this is a celestial dragons ship.' You thought to yourself, carefully watching as it sailed by. You felt your throat tighten as it became harder to swallow, fear consuming you as you thought of all the stories you had heard about the celestial beings. 'Sabo-nii...where are you?' You thought, worried as you bit your bottom lip, playing with the hem of your shirt once more. As you stare at the kingdom, Dragon walks next to you.
"Who are you looking for?" He asks calmly, his eyes following your gaze. "My older brother..." You whispered, not finding any reason to hide the truth from the man who saved you, treated your infected eye wound, and is now giving you the freedom, you and your brother so desperately craved. "I-I don't want to leave him alone." A frown crosses your face as you think of how worried Sabo must be for you and how you hate causing him problems. Dragon didn't say anything as he silently watched with you. As time passed, you noticed something sailing near the celestial dragon's ship.
"Huh?" You questioned, leaning slightly onto the railing of the ship. Your eye squints to try and see what that figure could be. 'There's a sail as well...' You thought about trying to see who was on the sail. Your eye suddenly went wide in shock when you finally got a good view of the tiny flag. "Sabo-nii?!?!" You cried out in surprise, unable to process what was happening or why he would sail to sea alone. "Hm?" Dragon glanced down at you before following your gaze once more. 'Sabo-nii…were you also finally ready for our freedom?' You thought, gripping the ship's rail, knuckles practically turning white from nerves. You watched as the tiny boat started to pass the celestial Dragon's ship. "This can't be good." You heard Dragon mumble, causing you to shoot your head back up at him with a worried look in your eye. "What do you mean?" You asked confused. A loud explosion sounded before anyone could say anything, causing you to slowly turn your head back to where you had last seen your older brother.
Your eye widened in horror as you watched your brother's ship get fired at and soon shoot up in fire. "SABO-NII!!!" You screamed desperately, tears forming as you tried to throw yourself over the railing. Dragon grabbed you, making sure to cover your eye so you wouldn't witness the gruesome sight that was taking place as you tried to escape from him. "NO!!! SABO-NII!!!" You screamed, tears falling from your eye as you tried pushing Dragon's hand away from your face. Dragon didn't budge nor say anything as he held you close, glaring at the celestial ship. Once the firing stopped and some time passed, he removed his hand from your eye. You quickly looked at the sea, seeing a destroyed boat.
"No..." You cried, feeling your entire body start to tremble. "Please! You have to look for him!" You yelled, looking up at Dragon desperately. He only stared down at you, not showing any signs of movement or command to those who followed him. "Please! He's, my brother!" You clung to Dragon's clothes, your body trembling as you started to beg the man before you. Dragon watched as your small hands that gripped his cloak violently shook, causing him to let out a small yet heavy sigh. "We'll try." Was all he said before walking away from you, leaving your small form to cry on the ship while thanking him. After searching the water for a while, they were able to find Sabo. "Sabo-nii!" You called, running towards where he was. Once up close, you saw the left side of his face was all burned, causing your eye to widen. You stared at his unconscious form for a moment before quickly going and hugging him while some of the men balanced both of your bodies so neither of you got hurt any further.
"Sabo-nii, I'm sorry! I'm here, so please don't leave me!" You cried, looking down at him. No one on the deck said anything; they could only watch the two of you with sadness. "I'm right here! I won't leave you again, big brother!"
______
After a few days on the ship, you heard that Sabo was finally awake, causing you to happily run to where he was staying. Once there, you happily threw the door open. "Sabo-nii!" You cheered a giant smile plastered as you saw his eyes look toward you. While unconscious, he sat there surrounded by some of the others on the ship who had been helping take care of him. "I'm so glad you're awake!" You cried, running over to him. He looked up at you with a blank stare before speaking. "Who...are you?" He questioned, tilting his head. Your eye went wide as you stopped in your tracks, no longer running towards his bedside. You felt your entire world crumble as your heart shattered while looking into his eyes. 'He... doesn't remember me...' You thought in disbelief that the brother who loved and adored you so much could suddenly not know of your existence. Dragon and Ivankov watched you in pitied silence, waiting to hear what you had to say to the boy who no longer recalled being your older brother. You stood there momentarily, bangs shadowing half of your face before smiling a pained smile.
"I'm... I'm a friend!"
__________
You open your eye, a tear gently falling down your cheek as you brush it away with your thumb. "Of course, it hurts..." You admitted going and placing a hand over your chest. "Every day, I remember that my older brother doesn't know who I am. Every day, I watch him go by, smiling at everyone without knowing that his little sister is standing right before him." You said, tears burning your only eye as you hiss, cursing your emotions. "It hurts so bad, Koala..." You cried, looking at her. "I've watched him grow up by my side but not as my brother…as a friend, a comrade, someone he thinks he met for the first time on a ship that gave us our freedom from the hell we called home." Koala looked at you with tears as she witnessed all your pain come out at that moment; your eye told her everything she needed to know.
 "But...at least I'm still by his side." You sighed, removing the last tears before returning to your usual monotone self. Koala stood there for a moment before practically tackling you in a hug. "I'm so sorry! Y/n!" The officer cried into your ear, catching you by surprise before you slowly hugged her back, whispering a small thank you for her empathy towards you. "Thank you, Koala..." After a moment, the two of you pulled away. You nod at her before pointing towards where you both were heading. "Shall we move on?" You quiz, raising a brow at her curiously with a slight grin. She only nods her head as the two of you start walking.
"Hm? Oh! Y/n-San! Koala! Hello!" You heard that familiar voice cheer from ahead. You looked up to see Sabo smiling happily at the two of you, his hand waving. "Hello, Sabo!" Koala called, waving to him. You just smiled at him, giving a small nod of acknowledgment. "Are you two going to see the paper?" He asked, tilting his head. "Yes, I was just on my way there." You spoke calmly, causing Sabo's attention to turn to you, and he smiled. "That's awesome! Mind if I tag along with you guys?" He asked, putting his hands together in a pleading motion. You laugh slightly, finding your brother's actions so dumb. "Sure, I don't mind at all!" You spoke with a gentle smile on your face. Koala glanced at you and frowned, knowing that you are most likely still not recovered from opening up to her about the situation a few moments ago. Sabo just smiled at this as you walked down the halls talking.
You looked over at Sabo, who was happily chatting away to Koala. 'Sabo-nii... it's OK if you don't remember me as your little sister.' You thought, watching as he laughed while hitting Koala on the shoulder. You felt a slight smile tug at your lips, remembering him from when you could still call him your older brother. Sabo hummed, looking over at you, still smiling. 'I'll live with this pain no matter how long it takes.... because...' Sabo tilted his head at you while placing a hand on your head, catching you by surprise as you looked at him in awe. "Something wrong Y/n-San?" He looked concerned as he tried to read what was wrong based on your expressions and body language. You just smiled at him, shaking your head. "No, I was just thinking that's all." You reassured him with a slight wave as he removed his hand from your head. He smiles at this, letting out a sigh of relief while scratching the back of his neck. "That's good! Can't go having you get all sad on me now Y/n-San!" He laughed when you looked at him for a moment before laughing at yourself, the two of you placing your arms around each other's shoulders.
'Because as long as I'm by your side I'll live with the pain of you not seeing your little sister is right here...after all I'll always love my big brother.'

Hey, hope you’re doing good. I know you have many request but I have an idea.
Reader is the "sister" of Ace, Sabo and Luffy. Reader disappeared after Sabos death and years later, after Aces death, Luffy met her in the new world and he is so happy that she’s alive.
Maybe Reader has a devil fruit power that let her body turn into fabric and can make it harder so softer to fight enemies
Luffy’s ‘sister’
Tumblr media
luffy x reader (platonic I guess)
a/n: I wrote it thinking it happens after the time-skip and before dressrosa arc. Also I didn't know if you wanted it to be platonic or not so I tried to stay in the middle + some talks about Ace and Sabo to make it emotional but also funny.

“Captain! There’s a ship up ahead!” Usopp shouts, peering through his scope “It’s not attacking, but… there’s someone standing on the mast!”
Luffy’s eyes narrow. A lone figure stands tall against the wind, their long coat billowing like a flag. He squints, and for a second, his breath catches.
No way.
Before anyone can react, the figure leaps from the mast. They’re coming straight for them.
Zoro reaches for his swords, but Luffy throws out an arm “Wait!” His voice shakes. The others hesitate, Luffy never sounds like this.
The person lands gracefully on the deck, boots tapping softly against the wood. The wind carries their voice as they straighten.
“It’s been a long time… Luffy.”
His world tilts. He knows that voice. That face. His heart slams against his ribs.
“Y/N??” His voice cracks as he shouts your name.
The crew watches in shock as their captain rushes forward, arms flailing. Before you can react, he crashes into you, hugging you tight.
“I thought you were gone!” Luffy shouts into your shoulder, his grip like iron “You disappeared! After Sabo—” His voice stumbles, raw and unguarded.
You tense at the names, but slowly raise a hand to his back, patting him “I didn’t die, Luffy.”
“But you weren’t there!” He pulls back, eyes glistening “Why did you leave like that? Why didn’t you come back?!”
You sigh, fingers curling slightly “Because I wasn’t strong enough.”
“That’s stupid!” Luffy exclaims, pouting “We needed you!”
Before you can answer, Zoro clears his throat “Uh, Luffy, mind explaining?”
You glance at the swordsman, then at the rest of the crew “Oh… right. I guess you guys don’t know me.”
Luffy grins, though there’s still a hint of sadness in his eyes. He turns to his crew, beaming “This is Y/N! My sister!”
“WHAT?!” Nami, Usopp, and Chopper yell at the same time.
“Not by blood,” you correct, crossing your arms “Ace, Sabo, and Luffy—” Your voice falters just slightly “We swore to be siblings when we were kids.”
Robin watches you carefully “Then why have we never heard of you?”
You don’t answer immediately. Your fingers twitch, and a thread unravels from your sleeve, dancing between your fingers.
“I disappeared,” you finally say “After Sabo’s ship was destroyed, I—I lost it. I ran. And then when Ace...”
Luffy flinches, and you stop. The air between you is heavy.
“Anyway,” you clear your throat, rolling your shoulders “I got stronger. And now I’m here.”
Sanji steps forward, eyes softened despite the cigarette between his lips “You survived all this time alone?”
“Not alone,” you smirk “I had my own crew for a while. And my devil fruit helped.”
Before anyone can ask, your body shifts. Your arms ripple, turning into woven fibers, flowing like silk before hardening like steel. You smirk “I ate the Nuno Nuno no Mi. I can turn my body into fabric, make it soft, hard, anything I need to fight.”
Franky whistles “That’s super cool!”
You chuckle, but then Luffy suddenly grabs your shoulders. His grin is wide, bright, filled with something he hasn’t felt in years.
“You’re here,” he says, voice full of relief “You’re really here.”
Your breath hitches. You never thought you’d see that smile again, not aimed at you. Not after everything.
But here he is. And something deep inside you, something broken, starts to mend.
“Yeah,” you murmur “I’m here, Luffy.”
And for the first time in years, you let yourself believe it.
Luffy doesn’t let go. His grip is strong, like he’s afraid you’ll vanish if he loosens up even a little.
You sigh “Luffy, I need to breathe.”
He finally steps back, laughing “Oops. But I still can’t believe it! You’re alive!”
The crew watches closely, their curiosity thick in the air. Nami crosses her arms “Okay, so you’re Luffy’s ‘sister.’ But why are you here now?”
You hesitate. You’ve had plenty of time to think about what to say, but now that you’re here, nothing comes out easily.
“I heard about what happened.” Your voice is quieter now To Ace.”
Luffy’s smile falters, and the ship falls silent. The crew shifts uncomfortably, all of them stealing glances at their captain.
Your hands clench into fists “I wasn’t there for him.”
Luffy’s expression darkens, but he shakes his head “It wasn’t your fault.”
You let out a bitter chuckle “That’s funny, coming from you.”
His jaw tightens, but before he can say anything, you push forward “I looked for you after Marineford. I heard you were alive, but by the time I tracked you down, you were already gone. Off training, I guess.”
“So you’ve been looking for him this whole time?” Robin asks.
“Not exactly,” you admit “I had my own things to take care of. But when I heard the Straw Hats were back in the New World… well, I figured it was time.”
Luffy tilts his head “Time for what?”
You sigh, rubbing the back of your neck “To come back. To fight alongside you.”
For a moment, Luffy just stares. Then, his face splits into the biggest grin.
“That’s awesome! You should join my crew!”
The words hit you like a punch.
Your mind pulls you back, years and years ago. Four kids, sitting in the woods, dreaming of the future.
“I’m gonna be King of the Pirates!” Luffy had shouted, grinning from ear to ear.
Ace had smirked “Then I’ll be the one to make sure no one beats you.”
Sabo had laughed “I’ll see the whole world first. Every inch of it!”
And you had thrown your arms up, puffing out your chest “Then I’m gonna be the strongest and most beautiful pirate captain ever! The most beautiful and powerful woman that no man can defeat!”
The boys had groaned at your declaration, but you had been serious. You wanted to stand among the greatest, make a name for yourself, lead your own crew.
But after Sabo’s death, that dream had faded. You let yourself forget it, bury it deep. You lost sight of what you wanted.
Yet here Luffy is, standing in front of you, still believing in his dream like nothing had ever changed.
And somehow, that makes you smile.
“I haven’t decided yet,” you say honestly “But I’ll stick around for a while.”
Luffy pumps his fist in the air “That’s good enough for me!”
Zoro steps forward, eyeing you critically “If you’re going to be traveling with us, I want to know what you can do. A devil fruit alone doesn’t mean you can keep up.”
Your lips curl into a smirk “You want to test me, swordsman?”
Zoro’s hand rests on Wado Ichimonji’s hilt “I want to make sure you won’t be dead weight.”
Luffy laughs “A fight! Yeah, let’s see what you got, Y/N!”
You crack your knuckles “Fine. Let’s take this to the deck.”
Within minutes, the crew forms a rough circle around you and Zoro. You stretch your arms, fabric threads extending from your sleeves before retracting.
Zoro rolls his shoulders “You ready?”
You grin “Always.”
The moment the words leave your mouth, he vanishes. Fast. But you’ve fought swordsmen before.
You twist, your body unraveling into woven strands as his blade slices through where your torso should be. He lands behind you, eyes narrowing at your now fabric-like form.
“Interesting” he mutters.
You re-solidify and whip your arm forward, threads shooting out like a whip. He blocks with his sword, but the force pushes him back.
Sanji whistles “Not bad.”
Zoro lunges again, this time faster. You harden your right arm, making it as dense as wood, and block his strike. But you misjudge his strength. His blade slices clean through, cutting your arm right off at the elbow.
Chopper gasps “Zoro! You cut her arm!”
But you don’t even flinch. Instead, the severed fabric of your arm ripples and knits itself back together, new threads forming until your arm is as good as new.
“Nice try” you tease, flexing your fingers.
Zoro’s eyes flash with interest “Huh. So that’s how it works.”
Before either of you can move again, Luffy jumps between you, laughing “Okay, okay! You’re strong! Zoro, she wins!”
Zoro scoffs but doesn’t argue. He sheathes his sword “You’ll do.”
Luffy throws an arm around your shoulders, grinning “Then it’s settled! Y/N is sailing with us!”
You shake your head but don’t push him off. For the first time in years, something feels right.
Maybe this is where you’re meant to be.
The next few days aboard the Sunny feel… strange. Familiar and unfamiliar all at once.
Luffy drags you around, introducing you to every part of the ship as if you’re not already well aware of how a crew operates. You humor him anyway.
Chopper asks you a million questions about your devil fruit. Franky gushes over how “super” your ability is. Brook tells you a story that somehow turns into a song. Sanji cooks you meals that make your stomach ache with nostalgia.
At night, you sit alone on the deck, staring at the stars. You remember sitting like this with Ace, Sabo and Luffy, talking about the future, making stupid promises.
“You’re thinking about them, aren’t you?”
You glance over. Luffy is sitting beside you, his usual grin absent. His expression is quiet, thoughtful.
You sigh “Yeah.”
A long silence stretches between you. Then—
“I miss them too.”
Your chest tightens. Luffy isn’t good with words when it comes to things like this, but the way he says it, the raw honesty in his voice, hits you harder than anything else.
“I wish I could’ve been there for Ace,” you admit “I wish I could’ve helped.”
Luffy shakes his head “Ace wouldn’t want that. He did what he wanted. Just like Sabo.”
The name makes your throat tighten. The last time you saw him, he was setting out on that boat. You were kids. You never got to say goodbye.
“Do you ever wonder if things would be different?” you ask quietly.
Luffy looks up at the sky, thinking. Then, he grins “Nah. Because I’m still gonna be King of the Pirates!”
You blink at him, then let out a small chuckle “You really haven’t changed, huh?”
“Nope!” He grins wider, stretching his arms behind his head “Back then, we all had our own dreams, right? Ace wanted to make sure no one beat me, Sabo wanted to see the world, and you—”
He turns to you, his grin turning softer.
“You wanted to be the strongest and most beautiful pirate captain ever.”
Your breath catches. You haven’t thought about that in so long.
Luffy leans forward, resting his elbows on his knees “And y’know what? You already did it.”
You stare at him “What?”
“You’re still a captain, even if you don’t have a crew right now. And you’re already the strongest and most beautiful woman pirate I know!”
Your face heats up, and you smack his arm lightly “Idiot. You don’t just say stuff like that.”
“But it’s true!” Luffy laughs “You didn’t give up, Y/N. You’re still out here, still fighting. That means your dream is still real.”
His words settle deep in your chest. You lost sight of that dream for so long, let yourself forget it after Sabo’s death. But hearing it from Luffy…
Maybe he’s right.
Maybe your dream never really died.
You exhale, a small smile tugging at your lips “Yeah. Maybe it is.”
Luffy grins “Then let’s keep going together!”
You laugh, shaking your head “You really don’t let things go, do you?”
“Nope!”
You roll your eyes, but something in you feels lighter.
The next morning, the crew is gathered around the deck, eating breakfast. Luffy, as always, is stuffing his face like he hasn’t eaten in weeks.
You sit next to him, sipping your drink when he suddenly smacks the table “Oh yeah! I should tell you guys some stories about when we were kids!”
You nearly choke “Luffy—”
But it’s too late. The crew is already interested.
“Oh? This sounds fun” Robin says with a knowing smile.
“Yes, tell us more about our dear Y/N!” Brook laughs “Embarrassing stories, if you have them!”
You glare at Luffy, silently warning him to shut up. He ignores you completely.
“Okay, okay, so there was this one time Y/N lost a bet and had to marry one of us!” Luffy announces proudly.
You drop your cup “Luffy, shut up!”
“Wait, what?!” Nami and Usopp both exclaim.
Sanji nearly chokes on his cigarette “Marry?! Who?!”
Luffy grins mischievously, pointing his thumb at himself “Me!”
You groan, burying your face in your hands “I hate you.”
The crew erupts into laughter.
“Wait, wait,” Franky says between chuckles “How did this even happen?”
Luffy leans back, grinning ear to ear “So we were playing this game, and Y/N lost as always. Ace said the loser had to marry one of us for the day.”
“Ace was the priest” you mutter, shaking your head.
“And Sabo was the one crying like a proud parent” Luffy adds “Like, real tears! He was all, ‘No! Y/N, you're too young for this!’”
Usopp is wheezing “He actually cried?!”
“Yeah!” Luffy nods enthusiastically “I don’t even know if he was faking it or not, but it was so funny!”
You groan “I wanted to punch every single one of them so bad, but Ace said it was against the ‘sacred marriage rules.’”
Zoro smirks, raising a brow “So, did you two actually go through with it?”
Luffy shrugs “Yeah! I even made her a ring out of leaves.”
“And then I threw it at his face, and he started crying like a baby, so Ace had to end the act.” you grumble.
The crew bursts into laughter again. Even you can’t help but smile a little.
“Man,” Luffy sighs, looking up at the sky “We were so dumb back then.”
“You still are” you retort.
He laughs “Yeah, but it was fun, right?”
You pause, thinking back to those carefree days in the forest. Even with all the fights, the chaos, the stupid dares, you wouldn’t trade those memories for anything.
“Yeah,” you admit with a small smile “It was.”
Luffy grins wider, shoving more food into his mouth.
The conversation shifts, but as the crew laughs and jokes around, you can’t help but feel a warmth in your chest.
Then suddenly Zoro smirks, arms crossed “So, she’s not your sister but your wife?”
Silence.
Then—
“EH?!” Usopp nearly spits out his drink.
“ABSOLUTELY NOT!” you yell at the same time.
Luffy tilts his head “Huh? But she’s my sister.”
Brook chuckles “Well, technically, if you were married, wouldn’t that make her your—”
“NO!” you cut in before he can finish that cursed sentence.
Sanji slams his hands on the table, looking like he’s about to explode “Luffy, you idiot! You were married to such a beautiful lady, and you didn’t even treat it like a sacred bond?!”
“It was a joke, you idiot!” you snap.
Luffy just laughs, completely unfazed “Yeah! It was just for a day! She couldn’t be my wife for real anyway, she actually had feelings for Ace.”
Dead silence again.
Then—
“WHAT?!”
Your eyes widen as your face heats up “I did what?!”
Luffy nods confidently “Yeah! I'm not that stupid... You totally liked Ace, right? I mean, you always got flustrated when he teased you. And you looked all shy and stuff whenever he did something nice for you.”
You freeze, blinking at him in utter disbelief “Luffy, what are you talking about?!”
Luffy grins, oblivious to the red creeping up your neck “Well, yeah! You were always blushing around him, and when Ace told you he’d protect you, you got all embarrassed and smiled like you were secretly happy.”
Your eyes twitch as you realize what he’s saying “Luffy, that was just because Ace was a big annoying idiot!”
Luffy tilts his head, thinking it over “Hmm… Well, maybe it wasn’t exactly that. But you definitely cared a lot about him!”
You rub your temples, trying to keep your cool “I did care about Ace, but NOT like that!”
The crew watches, barely containing their laughter as Luffy’s words continue to spiral.
Luffy isn’t fully convinced “But you were always jealous when he’d hang out with Sabo, you wanted to be with him all the time.”
You stare at him in disbelief “What?!”
“Yeah! I thought you were just mad ’cause you wanted Ace to spend more alone time with you!”
You grit your teeth, ready to explode when suddenly, Robin, who has been quietly listening, raises her hand and looks at you with a knowing smile.
“Ohhh! So you liked Sabo!”
You freeze.
“Eh?” Luffy tilts his head in confusion.
Robin’s expression remains calm as she leans forward, explaining “Yeah, from what Luffy is saying you always seemed a little flustered when Ace teased you, but not because of him, it was because Sabo was watching, right?”
Your heart skips a beat as you realize the implication. The room goes quiet. The crew looks between Robin and you as the pieces start to fall into place.
“What do you mean?” Usopp asks, his voice shaky, as if he’s starting to understand.
Robin continues, her eyes twinkling “When Ace said he would protect you, you didn’t get flustered because you liked him. It was because you wanted Sabo be the one to protect you, not Ace.”
Your face burns “I—I didn’t like him like that!”
Luffy blinks, completely oblivious “Huh? I always thought you were shy around Ace because you liked him.”
You fight the urge to bury your face in your hands “No! I didn’t!”
But as the crew starts piecing Luffy’s stories and your reactions together, you realize they’ve started to connect the dots. Robin did a good job analysing is all. Yet Luffy never caught on.
Franky scratches his head, still a little confused but grinning “So, wait, you liked Sabo the while marrying Luffy?”
“NO!” You practically shout, flailing your arms “I—”
Luffy, ever the oblivious one, just laughs “Heh, it’s okay, Y/N. It happens to everyone! I mean, you liked Sabo? It’s cool!”
Your embarrassment grows tenfold “Luffy, I swear—”
The crew is in full-on teasing mode now, and you just want to hide. Sanji’s voice cracks as he dramatically falls to his knees “Sabo, you lucky one…”
You finally give up. You collapse into your seat, covering your face with both hands “I hate all of you. We all were just kids… I was just a dumb kid with a dumb crush for a dumb kid...”
Despite your frustration, a small smile sneaks onto your face. This was ridiculous, but it felt… kind of good. Having these memories out in the open, even the embarrassing ones, made you feel like you were truly home again.
Maybe it wasn’t so bad after all.
Now this is your new life with the Straw Hats.

where you belong [5/10]
Summary: As Luffy's big sister, you've viewed it to be your job to see him become King of the Pirates in place of your absent parents, even as you try to find where it is you belong in the world. You never really expected to draw the attention of Trafalgar Law in the process.
Pairing: Trafalgar Law x Fem!reader
Warnings: Mentions of alcohol, typical One Piece stuff.
Note: Ahh I finally got this out. <3 <3 I hope you'll all enjoy it, I know it might seem like it jumps around a bit, but I wanted to bring Law back in quickly and had a little moment later I needed to do. Next chapter may take me a bit again since its Dressrosa you know, but we'll get there! :)
Note 2: Punk Hazard my beloved. <3 One of my top arcs.

[Ch. 1] ● [Ch. 2] ● [Ch. 3] ● [Ch. 4]
The morning you’ve dreaded finally arrives and you wish, somehow, it was a dream. The whole two years you wish were nothing more than you dreaming as you slept, not because you regret them but because you don’t want to leave the Heart Pirates.
You don’t want to leave Law, but you know its time to return to your actual crew and to Luffy. Part of you wants Law to refuse to let you leave, though you know that’s not him. Even with your relationship he doesn’t want you to feel like you’re not allowed to do what you want, or live your own life. He'd never keep you tied down somewhere you didn’t want to be, despite his wish for you to stay with him.
You can call, its already in your plans to do so as often as you can. You think Luffy will be excited for you, he may reveal your relationship by accident since you know he can’t keep his mouth shut half the time, it’d be easier if Sabo were around. He’d have been able to keep a secret for you.
He and Ace would both be happy for you too, you’re sure of that.
You don’t want to get up out of bed, instead spending several minutes just watching Law sleep, you’re really not ready to leave him most of all. It’s not fair that your life is the way it is, that you’re on opposing crews and that you need to stay with Luffy still. You wonder if Luffy might tell you that you should’ve stayed, maybe this is where you’re meant to be, but you don’t want to dwell on that for now.
We’ll see each other again, I know we will…but we might be—
“Would you stop thinking so loudly? It’s still early.”
You’re startled when you hear Law speak, but you smile anyway once you realize he’s been awake and just letting you stare at him as you think. He probably hasn’t been awake that long, but just long enough that your moving around before settling to watch him woke him up after all.
“How long have you been awake?”
“Long enough to know you’ve been staring at me,” Law opens one eye to look at you, seeing your smile before he smirks a bit, “you pervert.”
“Hey!! It’s not my fault you slept without a shirt!”
“Yeah, whatever,” Law pulls you close to him and makes you laugh while he kisses the top of your head, closing his eyes again with a smile you don’t see, “It’s 5am, go back to sleep. We won’t reach Sabaody for a while longer.”
Agreeing, you nod and giggle a bit, snuggling up against his side and making yourself comfortable again. Any thoughts you had about what may come next when you meet up again are gone, you’re not worrying about any of it anymore. Law somehow makes all your worries and fears about the future disappear, he probably doesn’t even realize it.
Law’s noticed more in the last few weeks that you do the same for him, he’s not as freaked out or worried when you tell him you love him anymore. It’s started calming him more and more, he’s not scared he’ll lose you for that now, he feels better about it.
You don’t fall back asleep right away, Law hears you humming as you start to trace his chest tattoo. You’re probably wide awake now, but he knows you still need to sleep, you’re going to have a long day probably. Meeting up with your crew again, with Luffy again, is going to be a lot knowing they’ll all want to get going right away to your next destination.
He still wishes you’d decide to stay.
“…I’ll miss you.”
Taking a breath, Law sighs a bit before nodding, kissing your head again to comfort you.
“Go back to sleep, it’s going to be a long day for you.”
“Mm…yeah, okay.”
You eventually fall back asleep but Law doesn’t, he stays awake to have a little bit longer with you, even if you’re not awake to talk with him or anything. He just needs a bit more time with you, that’s all Law wants right now, though his time is limited to just a few hours more.
If only he had more time with you, just a few days even, it would be enough. A few more weeks would be preferable, but all you have are a couple more hours before he returns you to Luffy and the rest of your crew, to your family. He won’t push anymore, or tell you again that you can stay, not this time.
“I think I’ll miss you more…”
Next time though, he hopes you’ll stay.
+!+
None of the Heart Pirates want you to leave that morning, once every one is awake and breakfast has been finished. You arrive at Sabaody an hour or so later, and it’s taking everything in you not to drop your bags and stay with them. Ikkaku and Bepo are both near tears when they hug you goodbye, Penguin and Shachi aren’t but you hear their voices crack a bit, and everyone else is either teary or fighting to keep their tears back when they all bid you farewell.
It’s not forever, you don’t think you could ever stay away from this group, but you’re not sure when you’ll see them again.
“I’ll be back once I’ve dropped her off, then we’re leaving, got it?”
While they all nod with another shouted goodbye to you and some cries to keep in contact, Law sighs and rolls his eyes as you laugh, taking his hand as he leads you along.
“Your crew is still lively.”
“They’re all being so dramatic.”
He says that, yet holds your hand tighter, making you smile sadly knowing he feels the same heartbreak the rest of them do, though on a deeper scale.
“We’ll all see each other again, I know Ikkaku won’t leave me without a few calls.”
“She definitely won’t.”
 Law doesn’t want to do this small talk business while he takes you as far as he can, he’d rather have the quiet and savor every second of being with you. If there was a long way around, he’d go that way, but he’s only taking you part of the way to the Sunny anyway, so it wouldn’t matter. He just wants to spend as much time with you as he can before you’re apart for a while.
You’re able to delay your departure by distracting Law and dragging him through the shops, just to look around, but you know he’s anxious about leaving you. He's probably worried you’re going to get yourself into trouble before you meet up with your crew again, he just wants you to stay safe.
It kind of makes you happy to know he cares so much about you.
“Come here for a second.” You’re nearly to the point Law had planned to let you go when he pulls you to a more secluded area between a couple of shops.
“What—”
“I have something for you.”
Confused, you tilt your head a bit while Law hands over what he has for you, and it makes you smile a bit when you take the small piece of paper from him.
“It’s your vivre card?”
“Yes. I want you to keep it with you.”
It makes you think about Ace, how he’d given you and Luffy pieces of his own vivre card, how you watched it disappear into ash in your hands. Law made you get your own after you started dating, you giving him the first piece off it and only giving another to Ikkaku just to be safe and because you trusted both of them.
You already knew Law trusts you, but this proves it even more.
He does start to feel awful little awkward and nervous about it, when you don’t say anything for a moment, before giving him a tight hug that he very quickly returns.
“Thank you for trusting me…”
“You already knew that I do.” Law rolls his eyes while you nod, before you look up at him still smiling.
“I’ll miss you, don’t make me have to stare at your card and worry about you.”
“Wouldn’t dare think of it.”
You laugh, causing Law to smile and he’s about to speak again before you lean up and kiss him, hugging him one more time before you start to run off to the Sunny.
“Hey--!”
“Love you!! See you later, Law!”
You’re too far away for him to say anything else, Law feels the sudden loneliness start to creep in, he wanted a couple minutes more with you. He wanted the chance to tell you a few more things, and he knows he can call you, but it won’t be the same. If he’s going to tell that he loves you back, Law wants it to be in person, at the right time.
So maybe that’s not today, but he’s certain you’ll meet up and see each other again. If it all goes to plan, you’ll see each other sooner rather than later. For now, he's got to get back to his own crew, they’re all waiting for him so they can head off to the next destination.
I love you too…I’ll tell you as soon as I can.
~~
You feel bad for running off from Law without giving him a chance to say anything else or goodbye to you, but it was starting to make you emotional and you had to just go. You were close to crying and telling him you wanted to stay, because you do, but you still feel like where you belong right now is with Luffy and everyone else.
It was all too much, your feelings were getting the best of you, and you didn’t want to start crying in front of Law, even though he’s seen you cry several times now. You just didn’t want him to try and convince you to stay, because you would have. You would have dropped all your plans and stayed with him, but it’s not the right time yet.
Next time, maybe…
You’ll definitely think about it next time you’re with Law and if he asks you to go with him, but for now, you’re excited to see the Sunny and who all has already arrived there. Luffy isn’t around but you’re not surprised, Nami squeals when she sees you, running over and giving you a big hug that makes you laugh. She and Robin both talk to you for a while after you’ve seen everyone else there so far, Brook and Franky compliment your outfit and Usopp is happy to see you too, though it feels like everyone is acting a bit oddly to you and it makes you wonder why before Nami speaks up.
“Are you doing okay? You look sad…”
Tilting your head, the look Nami gives you eventually makes sense. They’re all wondering how you fared after Ace’s death, not wanting to outright ask but hoping you were okay the last two years. It’s still a sore subject, even Law doesn’t bring it up unless you do first, and even that’s rare because it does still cause you heartache.
You sigh lightly, but nod.
“I’m okay. Luffy and I were together for a few weeks before he went to his training and I left for mine, but we’re both all right,” you give everyone a bright smile, making them all relax but Nami still looks skeptical, “So don’t worry, you guys! Luffy and I are both fine, I’m anxious to see him again!”
While everyone starts to talk to you more happily, Nami keeps wanting to pull you to the side and talk to you, she can tell there’s something you’re not saying, and she wants to be the one to know. She expects it must be about Ace, but knows you well enough that it just might not be and you’re keeping some kind of secret. Even as everyone else talks to you, as you’re trying to get to the women’s bunks to drop off your bag, Nami grabs you by the arm and starts to lead you away.
“Come on, let’s go drop your stuff of and then you can tell us everything you did the last two years!”
You laugh but know Nami wants all the information first, whatever it might be, and it makes you slightly nervous that she’s going to figure everything out or that you’re going to just start talking and let your relationship slip by accident. You’ll have to bite your tongue but by the time you think of how to word things you’re in the girl’s room and Nami has the door shut right away, giving you a smirk.
“So…have a good two years?”
“Yeah,” you shrug while you set your bag on your bed, sitting there yourself but not opening it yet, “I stuck around Amazon Lily like Luffy did for a bit, left on my own to get some training in and work on my poisons. Nothing that weird.”
“Uh-huh sure,” the way she rolls her eyes tells you that Nami doesn’t believe you, especially as she looks from your bag to you, “That’s why you have that yellow hoodie, right? Wonder where I’ve seen that before…”
Your eyes widen, head snapping to your bag and seeing that’s it not exactly fully closed. You grab it and hold it tight against you, zipping it up and swearing at yourself for letting it be open like that without even noticing until Nami brought it up just now. Law didn’t even say anything, your bag must’ve opened on its own while you were walking and you just completely missed it.
“I…I don’t—”
“So that’s what you did the last two years!” She’s practically squealing over it as Nami comes over and sits beside you, making you open your bag again and prove she’s right that it’s the hoodie Law was wearing two years ago, “Did Luffy know?? Are you guys dating?? Come on, tell me everything!”
You try to fight against her pushing but Nami won’t let you go until you tell her every detail of the last two years so you give in with a sigh and explain what all happened. How you properly met Law and his crew, how Luffy threw you to them as they were leaving Amazon Lily, how your feelings for the rival captain grew and developed into the relationship you have now with him. She’s completely invested in your story and can’t believe how quickly you ended up getting under his skin enough to get Law to start dating you, that he came to have the same feelings for you in what felt like no time, though you keep a few things to yourself. She doesn’t need to know everything right now, but you tell Nami enough that she smiles when you’re finished.
“Can’t believe you, abandoning us for that hot rival captain.”
“Nami, I’m not abandoning you guys,” you roll your eyes as she laughs, watching you get up to start putting your things away and hiding the hoodie in the back of your drawers, “I’m staying here, Luffy needs me and I have a place here with you all.”
“Did Law not want you to stay?”
“I mean, yeah but—”
“Then you should have! Luffy would’ve understood!”
You shake your head, making Nami tilt hers because she doesn’t get it. She doesn’t get why you’d come back to the Straw Hats when you’re so obviously in love with Law and he wanted you to stay with him. She knows Luffy is very understanding and always tells you, specifically, to do what you want; you’re a pirate too and should live your life the way you want to! It always causes you to laugh and nod, saying you will once you’ve seen him fulfill his dream, though Luffy normally huffs and pouts after that, telling you that’s too far away and you deserve to live how you want to live. You’ve heard it from Nami and Robin, sometimes Sanji too, all saying you should listen to your brother and do as you please, you never give much of a response apart from you are doing as you please, it just so happens you’re following alongside Luffy right now.
None of them believe you, but they don’t push anything more about it, thinking you’re just not ready to let go of Luffy even though you’re both adults now and you seem to be moving on more.
But maybe you aren’t, with how you reject any attempt to remove yourself from your crew and Luffy, even if it would be to stay with Law.
“Not now, I’m going to stay with Luffy until he tells me to leave.”
“Ugh, he’s never gonna do that and you’ll never get to have your romance with Law…”
You laugh at that, shaking your head again and returning your bed once you’ve put everything you brought with you away.
“It’ll be fine, Nami. Law and I have a plan to call and talk, I’m sure we’ll run into them one day.”
“Lame! How am I supposed to live vicariously through you if there’s nothing going on??”
The two of you talk and laugh for a bit longer, before you leave your room to join everyone else and wait for Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Chopper to get there so you can take off again.
You’re anxious to see Luffy and tell him your good news, hopefully Nami’s reaction is a good sign and Luffy will be happy for you too.
~~
“Really?! You and Traffy are—!”
“Shh!!!” You slap your hand over Luffy’s mouth, before he can shout anything else, giving him a little glare, “Quiet, Luffy! I don’t want everyone else to know yet!”
He nods quickly, mostly so you’ll take your hand off his face, but gives you a big grin once you do so. He just knew you and Law had something there, he didn’t know what it was back then when he threw you to him, but he’s glad that he did now.
Even Luffy has seen that you needed to find more for yourself, you’ve lived your life mostly to take care of him and now to keep Sabo’s dream alive, so it’s about time you found something, someone for yourself. You deserve to live your own life, not one dependent on him or the rest of your crew, whatever you wanted to do is what Luffy has hoped you’d find ever since you two set out from Foosha.
Of course he appreciates you staying with him through everything, but if you ever chose to leave Luffy would understand. He wouldn’t stop you from living your own life, so he is a bit confused why you came back to everyone here instead of staying with Law.
“I didn’t think you and Traffy would start dating,” Luffy laughs while you roll your eyes, looking a bit embarrassed over the whole thing, “but that’s cool! You should’ve stayed with him!”
“Nah,” Shaking your head, you almost laugh at the pout Luffy gives you, “Law let me leave because I wanted to come back to you guys, he wasn’t going to kidnap me, you know.”
Of course he isn’t suggesting that, but Luffy sticks his tongue out at you before you give him a hug that he returns. You won’t tell him for a while that you did want to stay, that you wish you would have, but that you missed your brother too much to do so right now. Luffy is happy for you to have found and fallen for Law, he thinks it’s something good for you and he can’t wait to run into him again one day and see how you two interact. He’d seen it at Amazon Lily, obviously, but that was before your feelings developed into anything outside of gratefulness that he’d saved Luffy, it’s not a surprise that your feelings grew over the two years you spent with him and crew.
“Now, listen to me, Luffy,” when you pull away from the hug he tilts his head as bit, “You can’t tell anyone else, okay? Law and I want this kept between us, his two crewmates that know, and you…and Nami now, I guess, since she found out.”
“Oh yeah, of course!” Luffy giggles and bit with a nod which makes you smile. “I won’t tell anyone, but you gotta tell them when you guys decide to!”
“Yeah, I know Luffy, don’t worry. We won’t keep it a secret forever.”
“I wonder what grandpa will think about it.”
Luffy laughs loudly when the color drains from your face, having forgotten about the fact you’ll have to tell Garp at some point, or he’ll find out on his own somehow. Word moves fast these days and once your relationship is out there you know he’s going to hear and come looking for you probably, demanding to know why you started dating not only a pirate but a Warlord as well.
It makes you wonder how things would be if Dragon were around. Maybe he’d be happy for you like Luffy is, but maybe he’d be annoyed at the fact that his daughter was dating someone. Forget the age gap, it’s not even that big a deal since you’re both adults, if Dragon were here and acted as your father, maybe he’d be overprotective since you’re his only daughter.
“Okay!” Luffy jumps up off your bed, keeping a smile on his face, “Let’s get going to the Fishman Island!!”
It makes you laugh, shaking your head to get rid of the worries and other thoughts that were starting to take over your mind. You follow him out of your room, ready to get moving again.
Dwelling on things that won’t happen isn’t good for you, Law would probably tell you that if he were here.
You hope you get to see him again soon.
+!+
“Oh!! It’s you!” Luffy sees Law before you do, turning to you with a large grin and pointing that way. “Look, its Traffy!!”
Your excitement at seeing Law on Punk Hazard doesn’t go unnoticed by Robin. She’d briefly heard you back on Sabaody two years ago tell Nami you thought the rival captain was attractive, but didn’t think too much of it. She truly believed it was a fleeting crush, but with how you lit up seeing him, grabbing onto to Luffy when he went to jump down in front of the Heart Pirate captain, she wonders if she’s wrong.
“Good to see you again, Traffy!” Luffy grins and laughs a bit, looking over at you, “Thanks for everything two years ago! And for taking care of my sister!”
“Yeah,” Law nods just a bit, glancing over to you before back to your brother, “She was pretty helpful.”
“Hope you haven’t had to use any of the antidotes yet, Trafalgar.”
He flinches slightly, almost invisible to anyone else, hearing you call him by his last name. He understands why you’re doing that, because he believes you haven’t told Luffy yet, but it still makes him think back to when you were getting to know him and his crew, when you fought after you had protected him. It makes him feel like you’re regressing in your relationship, but the slight smirk you have tells him all is well, you’re just keeping up appearances.
“No, not yet. Hopefully we won’t ever need them.”
Before you can say anything more, you’re alerted to the Marines behind Law, Tashigi attempting to attack him before he pulls a trick you remember seeing before, and you hear Luffy tell your boyfriend he wants to ask him something.
“Go to the back of the lab, you’ll find what you’re after,” Law glances to you again, fighting a smile at seeing you tilt your head alongside Luffy, you two are very alike still, “We’ll meet again later.”
He's gone before you can say anything else, and Luffy grabs you to bring you back up to Brownbeard’s back, guiding him the way Law said to go.
Robin gives you a smile, making you tilt your head again, wondering what she’s thinking about.
“Excited to see Trafalgar again?”
Your eyes widen a bit, you feel your face heating up, but you shake your head quickly.
“N-No! Just…I’m just grateful to him for helping Luffy, that’s all.”
“Hmm…all right then.”
She definitely doesn’t believe you, especially when you look back as you leave, smiling to yourself slightly.
~~
“You’re not gonna betray us, are you?”
“No.”
Luffy grins at Robin as you laugh, impressed how quickly this alliance came together but of course, you expected it both with Luffy’s unfailing trust in others and Law’s plans in mind, the ones he barely let you in on for your own safety and in case nothing came to fruition. Your small group listed to Law and turned to the back of the lab, finding the rest of your crew, their bodies swapped and everyone else being confused before you gave an explanation.
“Oh, that was probably because of Trafalgar then.” Of course it was, you’d seen him do that to Penguin and Shachi more than once as punishment for pranks gone wrong. It made you laugh then but now it’s more of a concern since you don’t know where Law is at the moment to fix it.
Though you realize you should’ve kept your mouth shut as everyone but Luffy and Nami (in Franky’s body at the moment), gives you a strange look as they’re all thinking the same question, how on earth do you know that?
“How do you know that?” Zoro is the first to ask, raising an eyebrow when you cover your mouth lightly and glance away.
“U-um, well—”
“She hung out with Traffy for the last two years!” Luffy laughs with a smile and patting you on the back, you hadn’t expected him to just say it like that, “After he helped me get away from the Marines, I told her to go with him until we all met up again!”
It's enough to placate every one, no one asks anything more except how to fix this mess, though all you can tell them is Law has to fix it.
And he does fix it, the best he can, though it leaves Nami temporarily in Sanji’s body as he’d gone off with Zoro and Brook to keep the Samurai from killing himself in his search for his torso. It's still a funny situation, Law tells Nami he can only put her back once her body returns, you do feel bad but it's not like anything can be done about it right this moment.
While the rest of your crew tries to decide who’s going to do what next in attempts to help the children get home to their families and also enact Law’s plans, you grab him by the sleeve and quiet drag him away from everyone, to a more secluded area. Law doesn’t even fight you, he just follows along, knowing whatever you need from him will be brief so your crewmates don’t get suspicious about anything.
He absolutely expected the tight hug you give him, returning it without a second to waste as your bury your face in his coat.
“I’ve missed you.”
“I missed you too.”
You’re both almost silent but your feelings are visible to each other, with how you tighten your arms around him and Law gently rubs your back, really hoping you don’t start crying and make the others think he was mean or rude to you, he’d never be like that though. Even if you barely knew each other right now, he’s sure he couldn’t do anything to make you upset.
There was just something about you from the very beginning that made him believe he could never hurt you.
“I didn’t think you’d be here still!” You look up at Law with a smile, “I thought you’d be back with everyone else already!”
“Well,” giving you a small smile, Law brushes your hair out of your face to see you better, “Things changed. I didn’t think you’d all make it here though.”
“Luffy heard a distress call and decided we had to come here,” rolling your eyes makes Law laugh lightly, before you lay your head against his chest again, “but I’m glad he did now.”
He doesn’t say anything, just nods and pats your head a bit, making you laugh. Law really is glad to see you again so soon, he thought it’d be weeks more before you even ran into each other, hoping it would be on friendly terms and the way Luffy has acted so far tells him it would have been. He figures you must’ve told him by now, maybe that’s part of why Luffy was so easy to convince for this alliance, but it’s also more likely he thought it would be fun and a way to pay Law back for saving him two years ago.
Either way, he’s happy you’re here, having someone familiar after being here alone is preferable, even with the plans to leave quickly with Caesar in tow. He hopes that all works out the way he wants, this alliance has multiple benefits now since he gets to be with you again.
“Hey, I told Luffy about us,” your smile relaxes Law, but he looks a bit nervous about whatever you may say next, “He’s really happy about it, he thinks I should’ve stayed with you though.”
“You should have,” sighing a bit Law nods as you roll your eyes, still smiling, before he sets his forehead against yours own, “but I still won’t make you until you want to.”
“Thank you,” you lean up and kiss him briefly, stepping back a bit after, “I love you.”
“I—”
“Heeeey, [Y/N], Traffy!! Where’d you go??”
You both jump hearing Luffy but it makes you laugh with a small sigh, glad it was him and not anyone else who might find out your relationship too early. Nodding, you take Law’s hand and start leading him back, he wishes you had more time alone though. There might be a chance later, once you’ve left Punk Hazard, but with your crew around it’s going to be hard for you two to get a few minutes by yourselves.
“Sorry! We were just catching up real quick!”
Robin sees the very light blush on Law’s face as he nods, causing her to smile to herself, especially when she sees you have a hold of his hand. You let go as soon as you’re back with everyone, Luffy trying to explain to Law that he’s going to have to help the kids that Caesar had captured, help people in general now, you want to laugh at his face because he’s not used to doing that.
It all makes Robin wonder what happened during the two years to cause you and Law to become so close, if you have something you’re keeping from everyone or not.
Either way, you decide to stay with Nami (in Sanji’s body now) and Usopp to watch the children, making her believe that it isn’t anything that big or important, but she could be wrong. You could be faking indifference for all she knows, maybe you’ll say something later.
Who knows, for now you all have bigger things to worry about.
+!+
You don’t get Law get too far away after you’ve completed his plan of capturing Caesar and Nami’s plan of helping the children, your plan now is to help him with his own wounds instead of leaving him to do so alone, in return you expect him to help you like he always does. It’s after he’s removed the drugs from the kids’ systems, Chopper had run to you all shouting that Law was a murderer, taking your hand and leading you to the room he’d been in where Law explains what he was doing but you give him a look and poke him in the shoulder a few times while your doctor runs to the children.
“Don’t scare Chopper like that! He’s still a child!”
“He's a doctor too,” Law rolls his eyes as you stick your tongue out at him, “I didn’t do anything wrong.”
“I know that but Chopper doesn’t yet, Law.”
He shrugs a bit, wincing slightly which makes you frown. You knew he’d been injured but weren’t sure how bad it was, he’s probably going to tell you it’s nothing and to not worry about it.
But Law knows you better than he’ll admit, so when he sees the look on your face he sighs, nodding at you as you take his hand and leading him off again, somewhere else on the Sunny and making him sit down once he has his coat off.
“You worry too much.”
“Hey, I lost a brother two years ago, I’m going to take care of the people I love, got it?”
Your smile makes Law roll his eyes again, but in a more playful way as he takes his shirt off so you can check his back. He already knows there’s bruising, but thinks you’ll calm down if you see that yourself. Its not as bad as you were expecting, luckily, but still makes you a bit nervous to see it. You’re used to this with Luffy but for some reason it feels different with Law.
“Nothing to worry about, see? Just some bruising.”
“Yeah but still.”
He does get it, somewhat, but Law doesn’t argue with you anymore about it, he knows it won’t help anything. He lets you put a salve that Chopper gave you on the bruises, whether he believes it’ll work or not is irrelevant, it gives you peace of mind and that’s what matters to him right now. Once you’re done and he puts his shirt back on, you lean over and kiss his cheek, giving a smile.
“Thank you for helping those kids. I know Nami appreciates it.”
“I’m a doctor, its my job.”
“Yes but you’re also a pirate, my love,” the smile doesn’t leave your face even when Law glances away from you, “They reminded you of yourself when you a kid, didn’t they?”
“…yeah. A little.”
“Aww, can’t wait for the world to find out what a big softy the Surgeon of Death is.”
“You tell anyone and this relationship is over, you hear?”
You laugh as Law pinches your cheek with a smile on his face, he’s only joking but he’s happy to see your smile and hear you laugh. It's only been a few weeks but he’s missed you so much, it’s nice to have a few moments with you. Once he lets your cheek go Law kisses you, letting you lay your head against his chest after you pull away, hugging you close. You’re both listening just in case someone comes by so you can part and keep your secret, but you really don’t want to let go of him anytime soon.
“We’re going to Dressrosa next…”
“Mm, I know.”
Your hugging him isn’t helping Law think straight when he needs to bring up something to you about this whole plan he has, he needs you ready in case something happens, just to be safe.
“Look,” Law has to stop and think of how to word it, while you do look up at him, “I…if anything happens to me, I wan—”
“Nothing’s going to happen.”
“[Y/N]-ya—”
“No, nothing is going to happen to you.”
You push off him but Law takes your wrist to keep you from running off. It’s not a pleasant topic, but you need to be prepared. You need to know what he’s expecting with all of this, he doesn’t want you to be in the same state you were after losing Ace.
He doesn’t want it to be because of him this time.
“[Y/N]-ya, listen to me,” it almost breaks his heart to see you looking away from him, not wanting to look him in the eye because you don’t want to think about this, “I don’t expect to make it out of this, so I…”
No, not now.
“…I need you to stay with your crewmates that’ll be watching your ship. I need you to go on to Zou when we’re done in Dressrosa and meet with my crew, all right?”
You bite your lip before shaking your head, hiding your face in his shirt and tightening your hold on him. You don’t want to think about this when you just got to see each other again, even though you do understand his reasoning. He wants you prepared just in case, if his expectations pan out and he doesn’t make it back to you, back to his crew, he wants you safe at the very least.
But you hate the idea, hate the thought of losing Law like you did Ace, not being there and able to stop it. Not getting the chance with Law to have a future together, you want to live your life with him for as long as you can, it can’t end in just a few days.
You’ve not even been together for a year, it isn’t fair that you have to think about this right now.
“Nothing will happen, you’re not leaving your crew or me.”
“But if—”
“Law, no,” you grip his shirt tighter while Law starts to stroke your hair, hoping to keep you calm, “Nothing is going to happen, you’re going to drop off Caesar and then come back, and we’ll go to Zou together.”
It becomes quiet, Law doesn’t want to say anything to upset you more, instead simply nodding. You need to settle down before you go back outside to everyone, he doesn’t want anybody to think there’s any animosity between the two of you, though it would be a good cover for your relationship right now.
As soon as you’ve calmed down, you both agree to drop the conversation for now. You join your crew, the Marines, and the children again for the food Sanji’s made and Law keeps a close watch on you from afar. You seem to be more relaxed as you eat and laugh with Nami and Robin, enjoying yourself despite the coming trials in Dressrosa. If there’s the chance later, before you get there, he still wants to try and get you emotionally prepared in case something happens, he doesn’t want you to be unprepared and end up struggling as badly as you did after Ace died.
Law does love you, even though he hasn’t had the chance to tell you just yet.
If he’s lucky once again, he’ll tell you after everything in Dressrosa is settled. Once Doflamingo and his past with him isn’t looming over his life, maybe you’ll be able to enjoy your relationship better.
+!+
After you’ve left Punk Hazard, Law explains the basic gist of his plan to everyone on your crew, you don’t say much since you don’t want to dwell on what he was trying to talk to you about earlier. It’s part of you withdraw from him during the day, not wanting to show your worry in front of your crewmates.
You keep to yourself most of the day and eventually come to terms with what Law was trying to explain to you earlier. He wasn’t trying to scare you, but he wants you to be ready if something happens. You still hate the thought and don’t want to think about it too much more, so you take yourself to the kitchen to hang out with Sanji after everyone else has gone to bed.
Law comes into the kitchen later that night, while you and Sanji still up just having a nice discussion, you trying to help him decide on something for breakfast when you see your boyfriend and give him a friendly smile. You still have to keep up appearances, pretend you aren’t together when you aren’t with Luffy or Nami. He seats himself quietly beside you, laying his head on the table and tries his best to be sneaky at grabbing your hand that’s resting on your knee under the table, squeezing your fingers gently. Sanji, though he doesn’t see Law holding your hand, gives the slightest glare to your temporary ally for interrupting the two of you.
“Can we help you, Traffy?”
Shaking his head, Law doesn’t respond for a moment, just enjoying being near you without all of your crewmates around.
“I can’t sleep in that room.”
“What?” You snort a bit, laughing at how serious he seems, “The boys room? What’s wrong with it?”
“Your brother sounds like a truck coming through the wall. The sniper and doctor sleep talk. Brook-ya and Franky-ya were both loud coming in, Zoro-ya is the only one that’s quiet.”
You try not to laugh at your boyfriend’s plight when all he wants to do is sleep, even as Sanji mumbles outs “now you know how I feel”, you simply squeeze Law’s fingers in return, running your thumb over his knuckles briefly.
“Hmm…we could probably turn the aquarium into a temporary bedroom for you, Trafalgar.  Don’t you think, Sanji~?”
The sweet little tone you add to your voice makes Sanji’s eyes turn to hearts, nodding in agreement as he stands and quickly offers to get a couple pillows and blankets to put in there, tell you not to worry about it and he’ll have it ready in a jiffy as he runs out. Law can’t believe that’s all it took to bend your crew’s chef to your whim, and he leans back in his seat with a sigh before looking at your smiling face.
“Thanks.”
“Of course~ Sanji’s willing to do anything for a woman, just gotta use my charms to get him to do it.”
“Charms, huh?” You nod while a smirk quirks it’s way onto Law’s face, “Why haven’t I seen these alleged charms?”
“You wound me!” Throwing your hands to your chest, you fall forward to the table, Law chuckling lightly at your reaction. “I knew it was just the sex that kept you interested in me.”
“Oh please, I wouldn’t be with you still if I didn’t—"
He stops before he can say too much more, making you raise an eyebrow when you look at him, your face flushing at the thought of what he might’ve been about to say. This isn’t the right place or time for a love confession, for him to say it for the first time, and you both recognize that.
You’re about to respond when Sanji finally comes back, still heart eyed at you as he says the aquarium is ready, you and Law making sure to push away any feelings or thoughts until later. You thank Sanji as you stand and take Law by the wrist, wishing your crewmate a goodnight while you lead Law to the aquarium. Neither of you speak during your walk, but you double check for any other awake crewmates before lacing your fingers with his for the rest of your walk. You don’t miss how he squeezes your hand again.
“It should stay quiet in here,” you lay out a blanket for Law on one of the couches, smiling when he finally relaxes laid out on it, kicking off his shoes and setting his hat on one of the end tables, “Even if Robin comes down to read, she’ll be quiet.”
“Thank you, again.” Your grin makes Law smile softly at you.
“Of course! I’ll be in the kitchen if yo—”
“Where do you think you’re going, huh?”
Law grabs your wrist before you get to far and pulls you down on top of him, making you yelp slightly and your face flush once again. You’re lucky none of your crewmates are around, especially as Law wraps his arms around your waist, giving you a smirk while you look at the doorway and back to him nervously.
“Trafalgar! You can’t, we can’t—”
“I’ve barely been around you all day, I just want a few minutes with you,” Law’s brow furrows a bit as he threads his fingers in your hair, “I don’t like hearing you call me by my last name again.”
“Want me to call you Traffy while you’re with us?”
“Hell no.”
You giggle before slipping your arms around his shoulders, leaning in and setting your forehead against his, kissing him briefly before pulling away with a smile.
“All right then, Law.”
“That’s more like it.”
You swear he’d purr if he could, Law pulling you back for another kiss, holding it longer.
“Again.”
“Law.”
He barely gives you time to catch your breath before he kisses you again, until you push him away gently.
“I love you, Law.”
“I—”
“Oh I see, sorry for interrupting.”
You both freeze at the third voice, you quickly pushing up on Law’s chest to see Robin looking at you both with a knowing smile, before your poor boyfriend starts wheezing from how hard you’ve shoved yourself up on him, knocking the wind out of his lungs.
“R-Robin!! We just, we were,” when you hear Law wheeze again and put his hand on your shoulder, you feel bad as you sit back on his legs, “Oh, Law, I’m so sorry!”
“It’s--It’s fine.”
Robin watches while you fuss over Law, making sure he’s okay as he just shakes his head when you apologize again once he finally gets his breath back. She continues to smile once you two quiet down, the three of you in an awkward silence while you feel your face burning and Law’s cheeks are dusted pink, before she laughs lightly.
“I suppose I owe Nami money then.”
“…what?”
“We made a small bet that you two were either already together or would hook up, and I suppose she’s won.”
You groan a bit, dropping your head to Law’s chest in embarrassment over your crewmates betting on your love life. You assume that bet was made before you told Nami and Luffy about your relationship, otherwise Nami had an unfair upper hand that you’ll have to inform Robin of later.
As she goes to leave, you call for Robin while keeping your head in Law’s chest as he pats your head to comfort you.
“Could you…keep this a secret? We don’t want it out there with everyone yet.”
Robin nods, though neither of you can see it, still smiling.
“Of course. Your secret is safe with me as long as you need it to be.”
“Thank you.”
Once Robin finally leaves the two of you, you let out a heavy sigh and fall backwards on the couch. You really thought you had more time before Robin might come in to read, not that she’d come down when you were in a compromising position with your fairly secret boyfriend.
“I’m sorry, Law.”
“What for exactly?”
“What just happened obviously,” you groan and put your hands over your face, not even noticing Law moving to be over you, “Now that’s three of my crewmates along with Penguin and Ikkaku …”
“Hey.”
“What?”
Law removes your hands from your face before kissing you again, instantly calming you down from the slightly panicked and concerned thoughts you have about the new situation. That’s enough to make you almost forget that Robin walked in on your intimate moment, even though you hadn’t gotten much farther than a few kisses, especially so once Law kisses your forehead and trails down your face to your neck, making you giggle.
“Oh, I should warn you.”
“Hmm?”
“We’re having sandwiches in the morning.”
“And…that’s a turn off.”

Now, the Strawhat Pirates were used to not knowing much about their captain’s past. He has a brother with flame powers? Sure thing. A Marine Vice Admiral for a grandfather? Okay, that’s fine. Monkey D. Dragon is his father? Whatever, they’ve heard crazier.
But really, at this point, they might want to just sit him down and get all of it out in the open.
Usopp wandered through a busy marketplace, Luffy’s shirtsleeve in his tight vice. Sanji tailed them as an extra precaution, one eye on his supply list and the other on the ready-to-bolt captain.
Luffy huffed indignantly, tugging at Usopp’s grip. “I wanna explore.”
“And we want to get out of here in a timely manner,” Usopp quipped back.
And they just might have done just that, if not for the hooded figure running right through Luffy and Usopp, parting their hands. A street vendor shouted curses after them, shaking a fist. “S-Stop! Hey!”
It was no use; the thief was too far away, and the man was too old to have the energy to chase them. He slumped his shoulders and pinched his brow, raising his gaze to find the stares of Luffy, Sanji, and Usopp zeroed in on him. “What? You plan on robbin’ the old man too?”
Sanji removed his cigarette from between his teeth with a shake of his head. “Sorry. What’d they steal? Maybe we can get it back for you?”
The old man shook a dismissive hand, frown deeply set on his face. “Agh. Don’t bother. You kids don’t get yerself wrapped up with her.” That was all it took for their prying curiosity to close in on him, and suddenly the man was surrounded on all sides. “Hey, now…”
“Who?” Luffy demanded first, head cocked to the side.
Lips agape, he shook his head and jabbed a thumb at the wanted poster pinned up to the wall beside his fruit stand. “That’s her, if you’re so curious. Been robbin’ us blind all month! The marines tried to catch ‘er, but no one can touch the bitch.”
Usopp rushed over and swiped the poster down, skimming it over with a hum. “Doesn’t look too tough. I bet we can take ‘er.”
The man rolled his eyes. “That’s what we all said.”
Sanji peeked over the sharpshooter’s shoulder as he let out a puff of smoke. He blinked, cheeks growing warm the longer he gazed at the woman pictured. “She’s… beautiful.”
Usopp squinted at the slightly faded writing scrawled under the picture. “Wanted dead or…” He snorted. “Nope, that’s it. Just dead for 40,000,000 berri.”
“Lemme see!” Luffy sidled up to Usopp and stared right at the poster’s center, recognition settling in instantly. You looked older, but that wasn’t the biggest change—joy had returned to your smile, your beaming expression showcasing a side of you he hadn’t seen since before Sabo died.
An unbridled laugh left him as he took the poster roughly, shoving Usopp aside. “Hey! That’s my little sister!”
“Oh,” Usopp hummed, taking a moment to process before his brows vaulted and he shot Sanji a look. “WHAT?!”

You slinked through the streets toward the docks, hood hung low over your face, cheshire grin shrouded by shadow. You rolled a slice of mango around your tongue, sighing now that your hunger was satisfied.
You wanted to pay the guyhonest! But being an enemy of the state didn’t exactly pay well, and a mercenary’s gotta eat.
Waiting for a donkey cart to roll past, you bolted over to the wooden boardwalk just in front of the port. Nobody paid you any mind, assuming you to be one of the street urchins that made up the local gangs. You only meant to play a small joke on the young sailor you’d grown acquainted with, make his life just a bit more difficult, when your path was halted by the sight of a new ship docked at port.
It was a pretty caravel, a little rough around the edges from weather and climate, with a masthead of a goat peering out at the city. A pirate ship, for certain. A grin itched its way up your face. A pirate ship meant treasure, and there wasn’t much in this life you liked more than treasure.
Well, there was one thing, but unfortunately, your brothers were scattered across the sea—two alive, one not so much. The thought had you stumbling over your own feet, righting yourself swiftly before you headed for the caravel. You mumbled pathetically to yourself, like you had been since you left your home village some years ago. The life of a mercenary is a lonely one.
“Wonder what they’ve got, huh, Sabo.” Gazing up at the clouds, you grinned. The wind whistled through your hair, and your coping mechanism fell through. It’d been doing that a lot lately. Sighing out your troubles, you shook out your shoulders and crept up the gangway.
A girl stood watch, facing the sea on the other side of the ship. At the helm, a swordsman lay sleeping. Other than that, it was empty. Just a skinny-limbed girl and a lazy warrior. Perfect.
You slipped on board without a sound, living up to your title as The Silent Death. Well, nobody had called you that in a few years, not since you were twelve and stormed Marine Headquarters looking for your grandfather. You hadn’t found the Vice Admiral, but you had given them a reason for renovation. You possessed the Terra-Terra Fruit, and the earth rumbled at your command. At least you still held the name Earthshaker.
Your first wanted poster had been a shot of you sailing away, laughing in the face of the destruction. A force of nature, they called you. Hired by pirates, warlords, and royalty to do their less than noble deeds. But that was a long time ago. Now, you were nothing more than a petty thief, loneliness and grief taking its toll after so long repressing it.
But never the matter! After this last loot, you’d have the money to buy back your ship, get off that godforsaken island, and finally restore yourself to your former glory. Then Ace would never call you on your little snail transponder and laugh at your series of failures.
“Hey.” You glanced up from where you were crouching behind a barrel, locking eyes with the girl as she blinked surprisedly. Her hand itched toward a weapon at her side.
“Shit.” You cursed yourself and your inner-monologuing tendencies. “Bye!”
You darted up and made for the edge of the ship when a sword whizzed past your faze, narrowly missing your chin. The swordsman rose, alert as ever, two more swords ready at his side. You scoffed, huffing, “Why do you need three?”
Three… Two… One.
Eyes widened, you realized you knew that lazy swordsman (whose swords probably overcompensated for something) just as he started to recognize you as well. He jumped down to the deck, approaching warily as the girl came to stand beside him.
Roronoa Zoro muttered your name like a curse. “What’re you doing here, huh?”
“I could ask you the same thing,” you murmured back, genuinely curious. “What’re you doin’ on a pirate ship, pirate hunter?”
“Change in career path,” he snapped. “We don’t appreciate stowaways. Especially not a backwater odd-job dog clinging to her glory days.”
You tsked. “Now, now. I was just having a look around. No harm done.” You swept a bow, flicking your wrist as you searched out the sea floor far down below. “I’ll be going now.”
With your head bowed, they didn’t catch your growing smirk until it was too late; the oceanic crust spread across the floor, magma exposed to the salty sea at an unnatural speed. The water rocked the ship and all those around, the nearby sailors murmuring worriedly.
“Hey, I may be a loser,” you admitted, picking at a cuticle as their glares shifted to concern. “But I’m still the Earthshaker, Roronoa. Now, how about some financial compensation for my bruised pride, before I capsize this sorry excuse for a boat.”
The girl scoffed in reply, brows vaulted. “Yeah, no thanks. We’re very attached to our beri.”
“You are,” Roronoa yelped. “Give her something before we lose the ship!”
Lips pursed, the girl looked ready to either attack you or give up, so you worsened the sea’s uproar just to give her a scare. A relent was on the tip of her tongue when her gaze darted over your shoulder, relief flooding her features. “Luffy!”
The sea floor closed up in an instant, the color leaving your face. “Luffy?”
A body flung into your back, tackling you to the deck. You bit back curses, wriggling free, when that laugh hit the back of your neck. A million repressed memories surfaced like the magma you controlled, and you were suddenly twelve years old, leaving your last brother in the dead of night to set off on an adventure you thought would fix everything.
Falling still, you slowly shifted to roll on your back, staring up at the beaming face of Monkey D. Luffy. You pushed up on your elbows, blind to the careful stares of those around, and gulped down some air. “Luffy?”
He chuckled gently, murmuring your name in turn, and you lurched forward to wring your arms around his neck. A tiny piece of your heart was put back in place (only a third of it, and you figured it would only be whole when you died and rejoined the brother lost).
Leaving home so young was a shitty miscalculation on your part. You’d fled Dawn Island some time after Ace, and some time before Luffy. Your not-so-big-more-like-twin brother always said you’d set out together, that one day he would be Pirate King and you would all be happy. But you left without ever saying goodbye, joined up with a crew of mercenaries, ate a devil fruit, and searched out Grandpa Garp for some answers about where you came from. And years passed and you could never admit your mistake—not until you spotted Luffy’s smiling face in the wanted poster he always thought you would share.
You leaned back and caught his eye, scurrying to sit on your knees. You wiped at your eyes as embarrassing tears started to well up. “I… I dunno…”
He knocked his head against yours, eliciting a sharp ow! from you. Luffy grinned cheekily as you nursed your temples. “You owe me an apology. So you can start there.”
And the fire sprang up in your throat all over again. Pathetic, you choked it all down with a nod. “I’m sorry. I don’t know what I was thinking. With S-Sabo gone and Ace gone… I thought for sure you’d be gone too soon enough… so I left you before you could leave me.”
You looked away sheepishly, rubbing at your arms. Luffy just flicked the side of your head and offer you the same bright expression he always did; it was the expression that gave you hope your life wasn’t totally screwed over, not yet anyways. “It’s okay—S’ long as you know it was stupid.”
You rolled your eyes and stood as he did the same. His hand never strayed far from your shoulder, holding you there like you might bolt away. Luffy gave a laugh and turned to face his friends, and only then did you remember you weren’t alone. You pivoted to face them all, locking eyes with a less-than-pleased Zoro.
“What’d going on, Luffy?” Zoro grunted, and if possible Luffy’s smile grew.
He took both your shoulders and shook you a little. “This is my little sister!”
You scoffed. “Little my ass! We’re the same age!”
Luffy held up his palm to his own height, then dipped it down to around your collarbone. “But you were always little-er, and Ace got to call you little!”
“Because he’s older than me!”
“Wait,” Zoro butted in just as you prepped to launch yourself at Luffy. “Sister? You never mentioned a sister.”
Luffy nocked his head to the side, lips pursed. “I didn’t?”
“No.”
“Huh.” He laughed it off. “But this is great! We saw Ace a while back in Alabasta, y’know.”
Nodding, you twined your hands behind your back and rocked on your heels. “Yeah, I caught ‘im a few months ago.”
The reunion met a halt when Luffy asked, “What’re you doing here, anyway?”
Nami jutted out a hip and settled you with a look. “She threatened to take down the Merry if we didn’t hand over our beri.”
Luffy’s brows vaulted, lips a thin line as he turned to you. You chuckled awkwardly. “That is something I did, yes.”
But that wasn’t what occupied him. “How did you nearly sink the ship?”
“Oh.” You swirled your palms, gathering the granules of rock and dirt scattered around the deck and collecting it all in a tiny twister. “I got the Terra-Terra Fruit a few years ago.”
His eyes brighetend like stars. “That’s so cool!”
Usopp faced Sanji with a slack jaw. “What is it with their family and devil fruits?”
“Hello?” Nami waved a hand between you and Luffy. “She tried to rob us, Luffy.”
You inched away from her with a small smile. “Sorry about that. Desperate times, yeah?”
Despite the frowns set on everyone’s faces, you had a good feeling you would win them all over. You were just too charming, after all. Casting a look around, a familiar ache gnawed at your stomach. “Uhm, have you got any food?”
જ ⁀ ➴
The crew quickly decided that Ace was their favorite of the family.
While Ace was polite, generous, and charming, you and Luffy were cut from the very same cloth. Messy and loud, the only difference was that you were slightly more aware of your surroundings than your brother.
“Yeah, she and Luffy were always tied at the hip,” said Ace, his voice crackling to life from the transponder snail Sanji pulled out one late night. “Just… don’t be too harsh on her. She’s had a rough few months.”
Sanji had no clue what that meant, but he almost wanted to find out, not just because you’re pretty. A shadowy look always eclipsed your face, no matter how big your smile got. Over the few weeks you’d spent on the Going Merry, Sanji tried to get to know your story, but you never answered more than a few sentences before disappearing the whole afternoon.
“You knew her from before,” he said to Zoro one morning, stopping the swordsman as they traded spots for the night watch. “Do you know anything?”
Zoro adjusted his swords at his hip, chewing at his cheek. “All I know is a couple years ago, she was one of the most wanted mercenaries on the East Blue. Now, she’s a shadow of that person on the Grand Line. Isn’t that just what this place does?”
“Maybe…” But Sanji knew better. Maybe he was so concerned because he knew that sometimes, on days darker and gloomier than the rest, he had that same look in his eye. So he caught you one night watch when you had no choice but to lean against the ship rail and deal with his company.
He took a long drag from a cigarette, preparing what he’d say, when you nudged him and reached out to take the smoke from him. Sanji scoffed a laugh as he handed it off, watching you inhale deep and expel it in a puff, your eyes heavy. “Wanna talk about it?”
“About what?” You took another drag.
“Whatever it is you thought of.”
From the way your face darkened, Sanji thought you might stub the cig on the deck and leave him there to take your watch, but you only stood there, head hung between your shoulders. You gave him back his smoke hesitantly.
“For the longest time,” you sighed, “I wanted so badly to know where I come from.” Sanji tilted his head in unspoken question. “Me and Luffy aren’t reallys siblings. We’re adopted, I guess.”
“Ah.” That made all your similarities a little more uncanny, but it made sense. You didn’t really look like Luffy anyway. “And… you found out?”
You nodded shortly, picking at a splinter in the rail. “Not to long ago. I always imagined that my parents loved me, and that we got separated by some tragedy that left me on Dawn Island.” Your voice broke off hollowly. “But that’s not it at all.”
He didn’t say anything when you started crying, and he didn’t ask what exactly plagued your past. Sanji just… stood there, offered you a cloth from his pocket, and waited till you compeod yourself to give you his cigarette.
“Thank you,” you whispered as the sun peeked up over the sea.
“No need. I’m here if you want to talk. All of us are, really.”
You doubted that, but you sent him a smile and descended to the girl’s cabin for some sleep. Nami and Robin remained sleeping softly as you slipped into bed, staring up at the ceiling wide awake. Your slammed the heels of your palms to your eyes, silently screaming into the air.
“Why,” you hissed. “Why did I cry?”
Sheets rustled across the room, and suddenly Robin’s eyes glinted at you. “You were crying?”
“Who’s crying?” Nami yawned as she pushed up on her elbows.
You just about buried yourself in your blanket and suffocated yourself, face warming over. “No one! Go to sleep.”
“Can’t,” Nami snapped back. “You practicality stomped in here. I’m thoroughly awake.”
“Same here.” Robin and Nami shifted to face you from their beds, sleepy eyes hooded as they gazed upon you. “What’s the matter?”
You sat quiet as a mouse, eyes wide and caught, until you flopped over on your side and pulled your blanket up to your chin. “Sorry I woke you.”
The two Strawhats locked eyes, brows equally raised. They’d been conspiring to figure you out ever since you joined their adventures, and this certainly added fuel to their investigative fire. Because as much as you laughed and played and made messes everywhere you went, a great shadow lurked behind you—and everyone could see it.
Like a lingering ghost of a past you’d rather forget, something haunted followed your every move. From the way you cast glances over your shoulder at every port to how you fell into frightening silence at certain points in conversation, the entire Strawhat Crew felt the way darkness pulled at you.
And they would find out why—Whether you liked it or not, they would find a way to help you.

Oooh I got a good one !! Yandere platonic Luffy x gn reader x yandere platonic Robin hcs please , maybe reader calls them sister and brother affectionate , only for it to backfire immediately ☃️
Wasn't sure if you meant them together or separate so I did a combination of both.
Yandere! Platonic Luffy + Robin seeing Darling as a sibling
Pairing: Platonic - Sharing
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Overprotective behavior, Manipulation, Clingy behavior, Implied Sabo enables Luffy in a small section, Dubious companionship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like to imagine you originally meant what you said as a nickname.
Something similar to 'You go, Sister!' Or 'Take 'em down, Brother!'
You clearly meant 'brother/sister' in a teasing way, like a playful name to call them.
That doesn't necessarily mean you see them like siblings.
The idea of the two misunderstanding your tone and becoming obsessed is an amusing way to think of this concept.
You have no idea what you just started when you say those words.
You may even miss the brief sparkle of excitement that shows in their faces when you call them your sibling.
Obviously Luffy is ecstatic.
He's always been one for siblings and loves the ones he has/had very much.
He loves Ace, he loves Sabo...
If he considers you one of his siblings, then he's super clingy.
Luffy may struggle understanding romance, but platonic love?
He's pretty much a master with that.
He wasn't expecting you to call him brother... but he was hoping you would!
I feel he'd be even worse if this was after losing Ace.
By then he's convinced, before he meets Sabo again, his brothers are dead.
If you call him 'brother' during this time...
Something in Luffy... clicks.
You... You really see him as a brother?
You love him like he's your brother?
Afterwards you get a clingy Luffy who refuses to leave your side.
That's how his brothers died, after all.
Imagine when he meets Sabo again in Dressrosa, he eagerly shows you to him, declaring you his new sibling.
Sabo's surprised at this, meanwhile you're struggling to explain what exactly your bond with Luffy is.
You try to say it's a misunderstanding, but Luffy ignores your words and gleefully tells Sabo you're part of his little family now.
Sabo finds the circumstances amusing, merely grinning and asking you to take good care of Luffy.
Truthfully you may not mind being seen as an older sibling to Luffy...
But you don't particularly enjoy his obsessive behavior that makes him watch your every move like a hawk.
Who knows, maybe later Sabo will see you like a sibling too, just to support Luffy's behavior around you.
Then there's Robin, who's shocked at first when you call her your sister.
Remember, Robin lost her entire family to the World Government and was hunted throughout her life.
She hasn't really had a family to call home.
She's found one in the Straw Hats, luckily.
Robin may also be close to you, which triggers your affectionate nickname.
Unfortunately, like Luffy, she takes your words wrong.
I can actually see Robin dropping her mature act and crying a bit when you tell her.
Which confuses you and makes you panic.
Did... Did you say something wrong...?
Robin may need some time to contemplate your words, trying to recover from the sudden shock.
She isn't immediately clingy as she needs some time to think.
Eventually though she's overjoyed that you consider him close enough to be a sister.
Once she understands the situation, she's super overprotective.
Robin wants to be a protective older sister to you.
After all, you're probably younger than her.
She often keeps an eye on you and is wary whenever others are around you.
She lost her old family and friends...
She isn't going to lose this one... not even you.
Robin would rather sacrifice herself than see you hurt.
She occasionally hugs you, whispering how she loves you, all while you awkwardly hug back.
Again, you don't mind being seen as a sibling to her, but like Luffy she never seems to give you your space...?
With the two working together... Luffy is the clingy younger brother and Robin is the protective older sister to you.
Another thing to note is Luffy and Robin have only ever had positive interactions with each other.
Which means there aren't many times where they'll fight between each other.
In fact... They'll be quite the lethal combo.
Both of them would be overly protective of their obsession if they saw you as a sibling.
The two may even encourage one another since you view them both as your brother/sister.
Robin is more controlled and less impulsive, but Luffy still has a lack of control when it comes to emotions.
If Robin didn't like someone near you, she'd glare and keep you close.
If she had to, she'll use her Devil Fruit to force them away and keep you close to her.
Luffy, as I've stated in previous concepts, runs purely on instinct.
If someone hurt you or was a bit too close...
He's on them within an instant, leading to you trying to pull him off.
Robin will either help you get Luffy under control, or encourage him...
Depends on who it is.
I feel both of them are capable of murder.
Would it come up often? No.
Not unless they could lose you.
I'd say they're both smothering with affection too.
Luffy clings to you with his rubber body, making it hard for you to pull him off you.
Robin herself is fond of the occasional hug.
If you refused, she'd probably drag you into it, saying you need to give your big sis a hug.
The two love you.
Luffy has always been a sibling person and Robin is excited to have found a new family.
If they both see you as family, good luck leaving the Straw Hat Pirates.
If you ever left to another crew or were held hostage by someone...
You'll be dragged back... Doesn't matter how much blood is spilled...
You're family now, like it or not, neither of them will let you leave.

Pipe Dreams (Yan Childhood Friend Sabo x Reader)
Tumblr media
I got this as an ask so long ago and lost it but I do have a screenshot of it. Here's the prompt:
Tumblr media
This is not entirely what you asked for Nonnie but I hope it scratches your itch. It's a little light on the Yan but I hope you can see where it's going :3
On Ao3
TW: abusive husband mentioned (not Sabo ofc)
WC: ~4.5k
~~~
“Hurry!” you yelled at the servants rushing down the hall to the small steel doors at the back of the large hall. You were trying to move them as quickly as you could before the Revolutionary Army found them and conscripted them to service - or worse. You had a crying child in your arms as you ran towards the doors, the mother carrying the younger sibling towards the safety of the escape hatch. There was no doubt in your mind that you needed all the servants behind the impenetrable doors in the bunker. They’d be safe in there and if they needed to, they could take the tunnel to the cove where you kept a ship in case of such emergencies.
Your husband didn’t know about these contingency plans, of course. He would tell you that spending money on servants was a waste and that they could fend for themselves should any kind of crisis arise. But you couldn’t reconcile that idea with the people who took care of you and your estate every single day. They were people with emotions, feelings, families, just like you. Not that you said any of this to your husband, he would have beat you for such outlandish ideas.
No, you just waited until he was drunk and raided his vault of Beri and jewels. Since that happened every day he was at the estate, you were able to amass quite a bit of money for renovations in case of attack. He was also often absent from the estate, off with other nobles drinking, gambling, and whoring. You didn’t mind that he sought out other women, it kept him from bothering you. In fact, you strongly preferred when he was gone, the air on the estate was much less tense than when he was present.
Since you’d become a noble’s wife, you’d heard endless tales of what happened to those islands unfortunate enough to have their estates ransacked by pirates or the Revolutionary Army. The nobles always focused on the looting of riches, the burning of the estates and the loss of property but you found the fortune of the servants to be the most horrific of all. Your husband had told you that noble servants were taken as front line cannon fodder by the Revolutionary Army whereas pirates would sell them directly into the slave trade. It was said that noble women would be taken as concubines for Commanders in the best of cases or whores for the army if they were too mouthy. When you had first taken up the mantle of being in charge of your husband’s estate in his absence you decided that protecting those who depended on you would be your primary goal and no one would come to harm while working under your supervision.
Even though you were born of a noble family yourself, you never felt like you fit in with noble society, even as a child. Maybe it had something to do with being the fourth daughter born to your parents. By the time you were born they already had three perfect noble daughters to marry off later in life. You were brash, wild, and difficult to control unlike your golden sisters. Your parents were also much older when they had you, there was a considerable gap between you and your next sister. All in all, that meant you were often left to your own devices as a child, allowed to roam free in the Goa Kingdom. You’d had the time of your life until your parents married you off - too young in your opinion - and your childhood had come to an abrupt end.
As you learned via your husband’s vicious fist to acclimate yourself to noble society as an adult, you found yourself reflecting on your childhood more and more as the years crept by. You would catch yourself staring at the forest on your lonely island, wondering how your childhood friends were doing, if they were well. When you did have the rare chance to leave your island estate, you quickly learned to keep your prior adventures to yourself. The women turned up their noses to you and the men found you crude and distasteful.
Even though you’d felt stifled by the snobby and suffocating noble society, you hadn’t spent most of your time within the confines of your familial home. You enjoyed sneaking out of your parent’s estate and playing all day long in the woods, coming home only when you completely ran out of food or needed some kind of supply. Your parents and governesses had tried various means of locking you in your rooms but they’d never been able to keep you inside, your desire for adventure too strong to be overcome by mere locks.
And those adventures most often included your friends Ace, Luffy, and Sabo. You’d met the brothers one day when you and Ace had both aimed for the same tiger to kill for food, your spear shoved through its skull as Ace’s pipe struck it on the head. You believed it was yours, Ace said it was his, and the two of you were wrestling in the dirt with Luffy cheering Ace on in the background. Sabo had intervened in the fight, breaking it up by forcing the two of you apart by nudging you with his lead pipe as you sat on Ace’s chest, punching him.
“Wait, Ace. What’s going on here? This girl’s a noble, she’ll be nothing but trouble,” the blonde boy asked, looking you up and down suspiciously. You spat blood on the ground and crossed your arms. How did he figure it out? Sure, you were wearing a dress but a lot of girls did, that wasn’t enough to have him mark you as a noble.
“So’re you, doesn’t mean anything,” you countered, annoyed that he’d stopped the fight while you had the upper hand.
“Am not! These are my brothers,” he huffed, pointing to the other two boys. They were obviously not blood brothers, the blonde so different looking than his siblings.
“Are too! Look at your stupid hat and cravat. You’re definitely a noble,” you teased, sticking out your tongue. You were a head taller than either of the two older boys and guessed you were a few years older. Still, being a petulant brat was more fun than taking the higher ground any day.
“Well, that string of expensive beads around your neck shows that you’re one too!” the blonde said, sticking his tongue back out at you. The other two brunette boys were now just watching the exchange, though the older of the two was gripping his own lead pipe now and frowning at you. Looking down, you realized you were still wearing the stupid jewelry that your mother had forced on you earlier that day. Shrugging, you reached behind your neck and unclasped the necklace to pool it in your palm. Extending it to the oldest dark haired boy, you offered it to him.
“Want this?” you asked, genuinely disinterested in the fate of the necklace. The boy eyed it warily. He was scuffed and bleeding from your earlier fight but didn’t pay much attention to his wounds.
“It looks like Dadan’s!” the smaller boy said excitedly, reaching for the necklace. His older brother narrowed his eyes and smacked the boy’s hand away from your own.
“ ‘M Ace. Gimme this and you can have the tiger,” he said, grabbing the necklace quickly.
“But then what will we eat?” whined the young boy while he rubbed his stomach. Ace shrugged.
“We’re good hunters, we can find something else Luffy. She can have it since she won’t be able to get anything else probably,” Ace derided you with a smirk. You saw red as you grabbed him by the front of his ugly tank top.
“Won’t be able to get anything else probably? What the fuck -”
“Oooh she said a bad word, Sabo’s gonna be mad,” Luffy said with a grin, pointing at you.
“Sabo? Like, Outlook and Didit’s son? I heard you died. That’s what all the adults were whispering about the last time I was home,” you said with confusion, letting go of Ace’s shirt. Coming up to study the blonde’s face, you squinted as you looked him over.
“You seem pretty alive to me. Unless you’re a ghost or something,” you mused, rubbing your chin.
“Sabo’s a ghost?!?” cried Luffy, clutching his face in horror.
“ ‘M not a ghost, idiot,” Sabo scoffed at Luffy. Turning to you, he sized you up as well. “So they think I’m dead?” he asked curiously. You shrugged, getting your paring knife from your pack.
“Dunno, didn’t stick around too long to listen, I had stuff to do. Got stuff to do now too - if you guys help me skin this thing I’ll share the meat. ‘S too much for me and I don’t like wasting food,” you said offhand. The truth was skinning was your least favorite part of the meat preparation process and you wanted to trick them into doing it for you.
“I’ll do it!!” Luffy offered, reaching for the knife. His arm extended past what he should have been able to reach, making your eyes widen.
“Uh…is that normal?” you asked, turning to Sabo as you smacked Luffy’s hand away from you. It retracted like a rubber band, snapping back to Luffy. You knew you were a sheltered noble kid but even so you were pretty sure regular people couldn’t turn their arms into rubber. It was Sabo’s turn to shrug as he replied.
“For Luffy it is. Let him do this part, we can start the fire.”
One tiger meat meal later and you became friends with the three brothers. You spent your days adventuring in the forest with them, hunting and exploring what the world had to offer. They taught you to fight using a lead pipe and in return you taught them some of your fishing techniques. They never made fun of you for being a noble but occasionally teased you for being a girl or being unable to stand up to pee. You didn’t mind though, you could tell it was good natured, unlike when your sisters told you that you were ugly or stupid like a wild animal. You started returning home more frequently to raid the pantry and storage for things the brothers needed or wanted for their tree house. It was harder to sneak out with coils of rope or entire dried hams but it was worth it to sleep in a pile with your friends under the night sky, finally feeling loved and wanted for once in your short life.
As you spent more time with the brothers, you found yourself gravitating towards Sabo. You shared a lot in common with him and felt the closest connection to him emotionally. You told him about life with your sisters and parents and he shared a little about his own home life. He was funny and cute, and could be sweet when he wanted to be. One night as Ace and Luffy laid in a pile snoring by the fire, you and Sabo were the only two left awake under the stars. The two of you sat side by side in silence and stared into the flames, each of you with your own thoughts.
“Maybe when I get older I could marry you and we could live in the forest. I wouldn’t have to live in a stupid castle or go to boring dinner parties and we could have fun instead,” you said quietly, breaking the silence. Sabo didn’t turn his head or answer for a few moments of silence, making your face flame in embarrassment. You wrapped your arms around your shins, hugging them close, putting your chin on the tops of your knees.
“I was just jok-” you started to say, trying to take it back before he could make fun of you.
“Ok,” Sabo answered, now looking at you. The left side of his face looked like it was covered in flames as the fire light danced over his skin.
“O-ok?” you stuttered in surprise, unwrapping your arms from your shins.
“I don’t plan on going back to my family ever. But if you need to marry someone, I want it to be me,” Sabo said, standing on his knees to put his hands on your shoulders. You mirrored his stance and were now both on your knees with hands on each other's shoulders, looking into each other’s faces.
“Do you promise?” you whispered as Sabo stared at your face.
“I do. But let’s get married now so we don’t have to wait,” Sabo said, nodding his head as if in agreement with himself.
“How do we do that?” you asked, unsure what the process of marriage actually entailed.
“All we have to do is kiss on the lips, that’s what adults do. I read in a book once that a promise borne in flames is a promise forever kept, so we can do it by the fire to make it permanent,” Sabo said, cupping his hands on your cheeks. You nodded, your eyes on his lips. You’d never kissed anything besides your cat’s head before, you weren’t sure what to do but Sabo seemed to know so you let him lead.
He used his hands to pull you closer to his body as his eyes closed. It seemed like the thing to do so you scrunched yours shut as well and leaned in while pushing your lips into a circle. Your pursed lips made contact with his own for a few seconds before he pulled away. It was a little weird feeling, a little slimy, but you felt something right settle over your shoulders as Sabo looked into your eyes again.
“You don’t have to go back home now or marry anyone else. We’re married,” Sabo said solemnly. You nodded back at him, sitting down on your butt again. Sabo did the same but this time you leaned your head against his shoulder. It was a heady feeling to get married under the stars but shortly thereafter you fell asleep on your new husband as he watched the fire die down.
Unfortunately, life didn’t remain as idyllic as it was during your time with the ASL brothers. Shortly thereafter, Sabo died in a boating accident, and your parents had you married off to a noble fifteen years your senior a few weeks later. They said that since they couldn’t control you, they found someone who could. Your will to defy his orders eventually diminished as the years went on, your battered and bruised body unable to take continuous abuse. After you were married you weren’t able to keep in contact with Ace and Luffy, stuck by yourself in your isolated island estate. Your only source of information was what your husband told you or the old newspapers he’d leave behind in his office but those were months if not years out of date. You stopped trying to escape after your husband broke your leg after the third attempt and settled into a depressing life as a noble lady, putting your energy into improving the lives of those around you.
Which meant that you had to get everyone through the metal doors before the Revolutionary Army found them. You heard the sounds of fighting and yelling as the guards closest to your hall were engaged by the Army combatants. Although the guards were brave and dutiful, you’d seen the ship the RA had come in on and heard the tales of their strength - your friends would be no match for the revolutionaries. You had begged the guards to join the servants and leave the island but they had refused, preferring to fight the incoming intruders.
“We must hurry! Engage the doors!” you yelled at the elderly men working the metal doors. They began the slow process of sealing the room as servants continued to flood through. You were glad you’d ordered them to start since the fighting sounded like it was right outside the door to the hall. Handing off the child in your arms to one of your maids, you grabbed a lead pipe leaning against one of the cream colored walls and began running towards the entry point to the hall.
“My Lady! You must -” your closest servant Isla called to you as you ran towards the locked entry doors.
“Get everyone through to safety. Once the last of you are in, do not open the door. Not for any reason - no matter what you hear! Do you understand me?” you yelled at a pale faced Isla.
“Y-yes, milady,” she said as the banging on the door grew louder, the wooden beam across it beginning to bow. Facing the door, you held your pipe in two hands and lowered yourself to ready, just like Ace had taught you all those years ago. You hadn’t fought in a long time but your body retained some of the muscle memory as you crouched down. Although you kept your face hard, you were quaking inside. Whoever was on the other side of the door was incredibly strong, the wood barrier creaking under the strain that they were putting on it. You imagined there would be at least a dozen fighters who would take you right there - or if you were unlucky make an example out of you.
“Milady, everyone is in, please -” but Isla’s voice was drowned out by the wood beam shattering, sending wood shavings all over the floor and yourself.
“CLOSE THE DOORS ISLA!” you screamed at her, still facing the opponents you couldn’t yet see. If the gate didn’t close, everything you had worked for would be for naught. The telltale sound of the metal door banging shut and the latch locking in place had you exhaling slightly now that all your servants were hidden and safe. The only person who was left was you and you’d come to terms with your own mortality long ago. Squaring your shoulders, you held your pipe out in front of you as you waited for your enemies to approach.
The ornate wooden doors in front of you opened slowly as the locks gave way. Only one person seemed to be emerging from the smoke and carnage beyond the doors. Your hands tightened around your pipe - if there was only one person they were incredibly strong to have defeated all those guards and broke through the doors by themselves. As the man passed into the light, you saw a familiar top hat and cravat. This time though, they weren’t on the body of a child but on a full grown man.
“S-sabo?” you whispered, half dropping your pipe to the ground. You picked it back up quickly - this was no time for a reunion with a ghost. Sabo was dead and whoever stood in front of you was not your childhood friend but an enemy who came to hurt your people. His eyes opened wider, though one was covered in scar tissue from an old wound.
“C-come no further - there’s nothing for you here!” you yelled, twirling your pipe in your hands. You noticed he held his own lead pipe in his left hand, though his had blood dripping onto your floor.
“Yes, I saw you left the vaults open before we even breached the walls. Quite a strategy,” the man replied calmly. You stiffened and gripped your pipe so tight your knuckles were white.
“If it's riches you want, they’re all there. The kitchens are open, as are the food stores and stables. Th-there’s nothing else in the estate,” you hissed, watching the man warily. He was walking around you in a narrowing circle, staring at you as though you were a missing piece of a puzzle. You gulped but didn’t run - you didn’t want to lead him to the location of your servants.
“And your servants? Your slaves?” he asked, now too close for your comfort. You were breathing heavily not from exertion but from fear. You were spinning in place to keep yourself facing him at all times as he walked casually around you, assessing you from head to foot.
“We have no slaves, only servants. They’re safe, away from you,” you hissed as the man drew closer.
“Did you let them run away? Or did you have them killed in advance?” he asked with genuine curiosity.
“Wh-what? N-no! How could you say such a thing? They’re gone, they’re safe, like I told you!” you said, aghast that someone could think to do such things. The man continued to stare hard at your face.
“So that I understand, allow me to recapitulate. It is only you, the lady of the estate who remains, while your servants and staff have been ferried to safety? And we are free to take any of your wealth, food, or animals as we please?” he asked, now touching a priceless vase still on a shelf with a gloved hand. Tilting it onto its side with a finger, he watched your face as he tipped it over to the floor, shattering the porcelain. You didn’t bat an eye but kept your sights - and pipe - trained on him.
“Yes, because I know what you’d do to them. You would -”
“Let me guess. You were told they’d be taken to the RA as slaves and sent to the front lines as to die in battle. Maybe that we’d hunt them for sport, taking you as a whore for any RA commander who chose to use you. Does that summarize the matter?” he asked.
“Y-yes. And I won’t let that happen to them. You can take me - I’ll submit myself. But you will not be sacrificing my people for a fight that is not their own,” you said. Stepping over the shattered pieces of vase on the floor, he stopped circling and walked straight towards you. You crouched lower but the man used a single finger to push your pipe down past your chest while you struggled against him.
“That’s not what would happen. We free them. They’re free to leave and start new lives or join the Army if they so choose,” he stated, reaching for you. You flinched out of reflex but quickly adjusted yourself as the man frowned.
“I know what you’re doing,” you stated, no closer to righting your pipe than you were previously.
“Oh? And what would that be?” he asked with a hint of amusement in his tone.
“You’re trying to trick me, have me lower my defenses and tell you where everyone is. It’s not going to happen,” you said, swiping your pipe to the side away from his finger. With it free, you swung it to the side to hit the man across the head but he grabbed it and took the pipe out of your hands as easily as if you were a child, throwing it across the room beyond your reach.
“It can be difficult to adjust after a lifetime of lies and propaganda,” he said calmly, not making any more movements towards you. “We save people from upper class brutality, not bring them to harm. We don’t even kill the nobles whose houses we raid. We take your money and belongings, free your workers, and leave you to your own devices. I’m sure most of you wish you were dead with no money and no servants, but we try to avoid killing people. Come with me and I’ll show you,” he said, offering his arm like an upper class gentleman would for an evening stroll.
“You’re - you’re trying to confuse me, but it won’t work! That’s why you dressed up like him, I just know it!” you yelled, taking a step backwards. The man’s eyes snapped to your own as he stepped forward.
“Like who?” he asked, his tone icy. You shivered under the intensity of his gaze as his eyes bored into your own. He already had you alone and unarmed, you might as well speak your mind.
“I-it doesn’t matter. Like someone from my childhood -”
“WHO,” he demanded, his hands reaching to grip your upper arms in an iron vice.
“S-sabo,” you said quietly, scared he was going to backhand you or shake you like your husband had so many times before. His grip and eyes softened but he didn’t let you go. There was no sound other than that of your harsh breaths as the man held you in place. After a moment, he began to speak softly.
“I - that’s me. I’m Sabo. I don’t - I can only remember part - I was in -”
“You’re not Sabo! He died!” you cried out, tears filling your eyes. You’d cried for months over his death and to hear someone lying about being him was too distressing to listen to. Ace didn’t like cry babies, he’d told you many times, but you couldn’t help but cry for your lost friend and husband. You tried to pull your arm away so you could run from this imposter.
“A promise borne in flames -” Sabo started to say, one of his gloved hands rising to cup your face.
“Is a promise forever kept,” you finished, a tear falling down your cheek. You wailed as you began crying in earnest, wrapping your arms around his torso. Clutching him towards you he put his hands around your back, patting your back gently.
“S-Sabo, I th-thought you d-died,” you cried into his stupid cravat, the same ugly kind he’d always worn. He pulled your face gently off his chest, his hands spanning your face as he looked into your eyes.
“I don’t remember everything but some of it is coming back to me. I - we got married, right?” he asked tenderly, thumbs sweeping over your cheeks. You laughed through a hiccup.
“Yeah, we did. Sorry, I got re-married,” you joked with a small smile, motioning to the mansion you currently lived in. Sabo chuckled, settling his hands on your waist and pulling you closer.
“Did you keep in contact with Ace and Luffy? I’ve thought about all of you so many times and I -” you started to get excited, eager to hear news about the other two brothers. Sabo’s face had a faraway look as he avoided your question.
“C’mon, we’ll have plenty of time to talk about what happened,” he stated, pulling you towards the broken door by your arm. You stalled, trying to get some more time to think for a moment. You didn’t like your island estate and you certainly didn’t love or like your husband but after all those years, you didn’t know Sabo either. You didn’t think Sabo would do something terrible to you but you’d heard so many horror stories about the RA that you didn’t want to verify for truth first hand.
“Wh - I - Sabo, this is all a lot. You can take whatever you need or want from this shithole, but I thought you said you leave -” Sabo cut you off by picking you up and throwing you over his shoulder. As kids, you’d been a head taller than Sabo but now he was the taller one - and much stronger besides.
“I’m not losing you again. You’re coming with me,” he said with finality, striding towards the open doors.
anonymous asked: Hi! How have you been? I love your asl drabbles! Can I ask for one where the fem!reader is the older sister and is dating Shanks? How her little brothers get jealous of Shanks and how Shanks laughs at it but loves them anyways? It's okay if you don't tho!
I hope you have a great day! Take care!
a/n JFJAKFJAKKS I LOVE YOU GUYS FOR SENDING THE ASL REQUESTS 😭
ace, sabo and luffy crept behind the bushes as they watched the interactions between you and shanks. usually, luffy wouldn’t mind it because shanks is his friend. but seeing how ace and sabo insist that shanks were going to take you away from them, he followed brothers' plan in saving you.
“hmm, are you sure you don’t want to come with? i’ll miss you,” shanks pouted. his cute pout only made you chuckle. “no, i really can’t. i have to take care of my little devils you know?” you said before pecking his cheek. “so i really can’t convince you?”
you shook your head. “what if i just take you with me right now?” the red-haired male smirked. “i would like to see you try,”
right as the word came out of your mouth, he immediately picks you up and started walking towards his ship. “shanks! put me down!” you let out a shocked laughter. not surprisingly, your three brothers jumped in front of shanks, blocking his way to go any further.
“let go of our sister!” ace yelled, his hand gripping his pipe tightly as he pointed it to shanks. the older male only smirked. “oh? what if i don’t want to?” he gave a teasing smirk. this made luffy to wrapped his arms around shanks' leg, shaking it lightly with his child strength. “please, let her go! we don’t have any other sister!” luffy cried.
sabo only gave shanks a piercing glare.
how dare he even tried to take you away from them?! you’re their sister! no one else can take you from them!
shanks only burst out laughing before he settled you back onto the ground. “babe, your brothers are so funny. i wonder how you handle these little devils,” he said in between his laughter.
you chuckled lightly at their antics. luffy was still stuck to shanks' leg, while he resumes to bawl his eyes out. ace and sabo stood their ground and got shanks in a staring contest. “hey, now,”
“shanks was just kidding,” you chuckled, rubbing luffy’s back to console him. “he wasn’t going to take me anywhere. i promise. right shanks?” your eyes met with his. “maybe,” the older male said playfully. you slapped his thigh harshly to keep him serious. “right, right. i was just kidding,” he chuckled.
it took you a while to get your brothers to calm down. but in the end, they finally calmed down and look at shanks in embarrassment.
Total word count: 1.7k
Love Marks
You shuffled in the door as quietly as you could, trying not to disturb your sleeping brothers. It was still the early hours of the morning, the only one who might be up to catch you coming in would be Sabo. But with a bit of luck, you could make it up the stairs and into your room before he woke up.
You softly shut the front door and clicked the lock back into place, flinching at the sounds that echoed through the foyer. You put your coat on the rack silently, and turned to sneak up the stairs to your room.
“Ahem,” The voice came from the sofa in the living room, and you froze. Your eyes darted to the source of the sound, and you found Sabo and Ace sitting on the sofa, staring at you disapprovingly. Luffy was asleep on the floor at their feet.
“Little lady,” Ace said, frowning. “We’ve been up all night worried sick.”
“I slept over at a friends,” you whispered, trying not to wake Luffy.
“Without permission?” Sabo hissed.
“I don’t have to ask your permission for shit,” you shot back in a low voice. You weren’t even mad at their charade, you were just mad you got caught. They never let you be sneaky or rebellious.
You bounded up the stairs before they had another chance to interrogate you. They got like this sometimes, your two older brothers. They always felt like they had to be the parents, even if it was more so mocking the parental role than actually fulfilling it. Luffy must’ve found out that a scolding would take place and tried to stay up to see what would happen.
You locked yourself in your room, but nobody tried to enter. You curled up in your bed to try and finally get some sleep, but your brain refused to listen. You tossed and turned, unable to get comfortable. With your mind racing through all of the thoughts and feelings you experienced last night, you couldn’t really blame your brain for not wanting to sleep.
An hour later, a knock at your door came.
Ace’s voice came from the other side. “Breakfast,” he called, already walking back down the stairs.
You really didn’t want to get out of bed. You had just finally gotten comfortable. Zoro had kept you plenty busy the night before, and all you wanted to do was sleep now. But your stomach was rumbling, and you had to admit the smell of the bacon was enticing. With a groan, you rolled out of bed and descended the stairs.
“I’m surprised you’re awake,” Sabo said, flipping a pancake on the griddle.
“Hungry.” You took your usual seat at the barstool between Luffy and Ace, reaching for a piece of bacon on the plate in the center.
“Don’t eat yet!” Sabo said, smacking your hand away, but you grabbed a piece and shoved it in your mouth anyway.
“Hey, does your friend have bugs in her house?” Luffy asked curiously.
“No!” you scoff, shooting him a look. “She’s not like you with your crazy beetle obsession!”
“Then what are these marks on your neck?” He poked at a tender spot on your neck, and you could hear the deviousness in his voice. You cursed yourself for falling for such an obvious setup.
Luffy pulled your hair back, revealing your neck that was littered with bruises. You swatted his hand away quickly, but it was too late. Ace and Sabo had already seen the marks that Zoro had made the night before.
“Some friend,” Ace muttered under his breath, and Luffy laughed at his words. Your cheeks burned as you readjusted your hair to cover your neck again.
“Who is it?” Luffy asked, looking at you with wide eyes.
“We’ll need to have a chat with him,” Sabo said. He put a pancake on your plate and gave you a toothy grin.
“It’s nobody,” you said quickly. You pushed your plate to Luffy, hoping that food would distract him from the conversation. You had lost your appetite anyway.
“It’s obviously somebody,” Ace purred. “Or else you wouldn’t be hiding it. But this guy must be important.”
“And he’s not intimidated by the fact you live with three guys,” Sabo added.
“You’re my brothers,” you said, disgusted with the implications.
“Zoro!” Luffy shouted. Your head whipped around to glare at him, but he was looking out the window, deep in thought.
“How long have you known?” you gasped.
Luffy had to have noticed all the times you and Zoro spent together walking around campus, and how he always found you all sitting outside between classes. The two of you weren’t making out in front of him or anything obvious, but you and Zoro hadn’t exactly been subtle around Luffy either. Then again, Luffy wasn’t the most observant person in the world, so you were a little surprised that he got it so quickly.
“Huh?” Luffy said, his eyes returning to you. “What do you mean?” He pointed out the window. “Zoro’s here.”
There was a knock on the door, and your eyes widened in horror at the fact that you had just outed Zoro as being the culprit. Sabo and Ace glanced at each other, a silent understanding passing between the two.
Ace took off down the hall and you felt your heart drop. You chased after him, but Sabo quickly jumped in front of your path, blocking you.
“Sabo, move!” you tried to skirt around him, but he matched your movements perfectly to keep you boxed in.
“Luffy, hold her down.”
Luffy’s rubber arms shot around you, wrapping you tightly in his grasp. Sabo smirked at you, and took off down the hallway to join Ace.
“Zoro!” You screamed, but Luffy’s hand covered your mouth to muffle your warnings. You tried to bite down on his hand, but he just laughed at your attempts.
You heard the door open and you braced yourself. You could still see Ace and Sabo standing in the foyer, their cocky grins facing to where you knew Zoro was standing.
“Zoro!” Sabo greeted him. “How ya been, buddy?”
“Pretty good, I’d imagine,” Ace answered slyly for him.
“Wha..?” You could hear Zoro’s voice from the other side of the door, and you could only imagine what his face looked like. The poor man had no idea what he was about to get himself into.
“You look pretty sleepy, bud,” Ace smirked. “Late night?”
“Were you up training?” Sabo asked.
“I wouldn’t call it training,” Ace said, and you heard Luffy giggle behind you.
You could hear the confusion in Zoro’s voice. “What are you-”
Sabo stepped outside, out of your view. “Come on in for breakfast, buddy.”
Ace stepped out to join him. You could hear him murmur something to your boyfriend, but you couldn’t make out exactly what he had said.
The three of them stepped inside your home, Ace’s and Sabo’s arm wrapped around his shoulders, with Zoro squished in between the two. As he scanned the room, he saw you with Luffy’s arms wrapped around you and covering your mouth to keep you quiet. His good eye found yours, and you sent a silent apology his way for what was about to come.
The moment he saw the position you were in, he tensed up, as if he were trying to decide whether he should bolt out the door or keep it casual. You couldn’t blame him, you’d probably consider running as well. But Ace and Sabo both tightened their grip on him, keeping him from doing anything rash.
“Tell me, Zoro,” Ace muttered. “Who exactly did you come to see this morning?”
Zoro sputtered, his words failing him. He looked at you, dumbfounded by the situation you both were in. His cheeks were tinted pink from embarrassment, and you could only assume yours were the same.
“Luffy, you can let her go now,” Sabo said. “Let’s all have breakfast and a little chat.”
You all sat down, Zoro opting to sit next to Luffy instead of you, which you thanked him silently for.
Once a full spread of pancakes, eggs, and bacon were distributed throughout five plates, everyone sat down silently. You couldn’t bring yourself to meet anyone’s eyes, so you opted to stare intensely at your eggs instead.
“So!” Sabo said cheerily. “Anything anyone wants to tell the family?”
Silence filled the room except for the sound of Luffy shoveling his breakfast into his mouth. You could feel your older brothers staring at you, but you refused to meet their eyes.
“I can start,” Sabo offered, briskly moving the conversation along. “Luffy found some super weird marks on Y/N’s neck this morning after she snuck back into the house. Zoro, you wouldn’t happen to know anything about that, would you?”
“Stop.” Your voice came out a hoarse whisper, and you cleared your throat before speaking again. “Sabo, cut it out.”
“I think it’s neat you guys are dating,” Luffy said, oblivious to the mood in the room. “I’ve always wanted Zoro to be a part of the family.”
“You’re not helping, Luffy!” Zoro snapped at him.
“Ground rules!” Sabo yelled out, trying to reign in the conversation before Zoro and Luffy’s fight got too intense. “We need ground rules.”
“One - No spicy business in this house,” Ace piped in. “I don’t want to hear it.”
You rolled your eyes. “You bring people home all the time, idiot.”
“I don’t want to hear my sister moaning out-”
“Stop!” you yelled, desperate to cut him off. “Fine! You win!” You weren’t planning on actually adhering to that stipulation, but you would agree to it for now if it got Ace to stop talking.
“Two - Tell us when you won't be home,” Sabo said, eyeing you. “We were actually worried about you last night, you know.”
You nod, feeling guilty about keeping them up. You knew that Ace and Sabo had probably stayed up all night waiting for you, and not as some silly ploy to embarrass you.
“I’m sorry about that,” you said, and you genuinely were.
“Three,” Luffy said. “You take me on your dates and pay for my dinner.”
“Like hell!” Both you and Zoro shouted. You glanced at each other and smiled, realizing your synchronicity before your eyes quickly darted away and a blush rose to your cheeks.
“Fine, fine,” Luffy said, pouting a little bit that his idea got shot down so fast. “Three - Zoro, you better not hurt her.”
“Or we’ll beat your ass,” Ace added.
“Even with three swords, I don’t think you can take us all.” Sabo said, him and the boys smirking at each other.
“Noted,” Zoro said. “Though I have no intention of hurting her. In fact, I’m not entirely sure how I was lucky enough to get her to look my way in the first place.”
You smiled at his words, a warm feeling rising in your chest. Suddenly, your breakfast looked a lot more appetizing.
Part 4
Open doors stood ajar at the end of a dimly lit corridor; creating an inviting trail of light into the ballroom. With joined hands at your stomach, you walked towards it, feeling a comfortable chill from your steps on your exposed upper chest while using the advantage of your tardiness to calm your nerves in the deserted area. Whether for good or for worse, most of the guests had allegedly all arrived while your hair was being put into elaborate braids, pearls lining its entanglement.
“Her highness, the princess,” the guards at the door announced upon your arrival, and all within the room, faced with the presence of another royal, turned their pair of eyes on you, out of respect, anticipation, duty and perhaps even envy.
Their blatant staring was of no importance to you — years of attending and hosting such social events had rendered you practically irontight to twinkling gazes, lustful smiles, whispers of awe and unprompted conversation. This time was no different, as you entered with your usual steadfast expression and laxed composure. Now that the desired marine blue color of the sky had been acquired, the room glistened with the yellow rows of chandeliers, and the purple wisterias found themselves tinged in a yellow oranged colorway. The room felt hot, being filled to its full capacity; voluminous dresses taking more space than necessary and homogeneous looking tailcoats, overshadowing the faces of their wearer and so as far as the eyes could see. Melodic orchestra music slithered throughout the room, carrying over chatter and people in a planned unison and offering a much joyful atmosphere to whoever took the time to listen.
Your first reflex had always been to firstly seek the company of your own blood before venturing out for the sake of greetings, politeness and interrelations; a bore that made you feel the weight of your title.
While your eyes scavenged the room for your relatives, feet leading you to lounge the walls, your ears picked up odd and unusual tonations ; snickers, vividly odd whispers and when you turned your neck in their direction, malicious looking sneering eyes were posed on you. It striked you as odd in the start — you were well aware of the simplicity behind your gown of choice — but the more you walked to find those you seeked, the more your confidence dwindled through the incessant muffled banter. Even as you made furtive eye contacts with a few, the way in which they smiled left your cheeks feeling hot with an increasing sense of ridicule up your chest.
Once the perfect example to follow as the eldest daughter of the royal line. Now currently experiencing a fall from grace.
Perhaps, not displaying unconventional norms was more challenging than you had thought. Your hands were growing damp in self consciousness as your search grew more desperate; mostly for the relief and comfort your family would hopefully provide, pushing aside your worries as trivial.
Your eyes ultimately found your twin younger siblings, chattering about near the chair earlier set for the king to sit, in the furthest end of the room. You smiled to yourself and skipped over their shared location, raising the hem of your skirt to facilitate your movements.
“I wasn’t made aware we lacked funds,” your brother teased as you came not only into view but also in earshot. A smile was hidden away by the sipping of his beverage.
You spoke while taking your last steps before fully including yourself in their company. "Why don't you go about your drinking and leave me alone?” You sarcastically told him, fighting back an eye roll due to the many watching from the crowd.
If the remarks of your youngest brother always flew over your head due to his frivolous nature, those of his twin sister mattered more than you'd ever admit aloud. "Lord, what are you wearing?” She looked you up and down with a distasteful raised eyebrow.
"Not you too,” you tempted as a way to play it cool, the earlier uncomfortable sensations caused by the guests now starting to morph into sweat at your armpits.
"It is a ball,” she pressed, giving you round eyes to make you realize your folly.
"So I have been made aware throughout the week,” you persistently kept a grip on your sarcasm.
"You embarrass me sister,” your sibling distorted her expression in a subtle disgusted one. Her remark edged you towards the remnant of your self esteem. In contrast to you, she wore a light pink off-the-shoulder gown, an exterior over the dress corset weaved with silver floral motifs, layers upon layers of lace and tulles propped over one another on the skirt, all with a shimmering accent while her loose hair crowned jewels.
"Apologies if I make for a poor example to look up to,” you gave a polite smile.
A snort came from the brother, who until now silently drank. "At least you're self aware."
"Might I point out you will not find drinks in our company,” you told him.
"You're right,” he drank the last of his cup. “If i'm to last the night with you looking like this, I’ll need quite the amount," he failed to excuse himself and went in the direction of the nearest drink mount he could spot.
"I'd rather not be pitied by standing in your company, forgive me sister and have a great night... if you can," your sister respectfully gave you a nod and went on to trail in the direction set by her twin.
You found yourself alone, perhaps quicker than the time spent searching. "What I would give to see them in my shoes," you mumbled through a sigh.
People, now that your lonesome had been guaranteed once more, seemed to have increased their staring and hidden whisper towards you. Still digesting the talk with your siblings who had shown you no kindness in mincing their words, you lowered your gaze to the plain fabric of your lilac dress — and how empty it looked. No accessories or over layers, making you wish you had stuck to your usual ball attire. One that not only wouldn't gift you sneers, but compliments and the maintenance of your social upstanding.
Now it seemed as though everything; your personality, your respect in the eyes of the populace, your value, that you had built crumbled under the simple layer of a single gown.
“His majesty, the king,” the door guards announced, and at the sight of your brother, with neatly combed hair and the most intricately exquisite ensemble of the room, you felt hope that perhaps him, wouldn't add fodder to your increasing misery.
Remembering that you stood near the chair appointed to him in the room, you maintained your solitude until his form came into your view.
“I did what I could, are you satisfied?” He came to stand by your side, scarcely ignoring his designated seat, to take a full view of the room.
Despite his earlier outburst, it seemed things had shifted here and there after your talk, such as the number of set tables. “I shall give you my answer afterwards,” you told him, having been overwhelmed by the atmosphere of the crowd.
"May I speak of your dress?”
Your heart gave a drop. "Must I hear it from everyone?”
He ignored your plea, continuing ahead with his monologue, much to your anxiety. "I can see you chose your grown appropriately for the original room decorations but... considering mother had a last minute hand in it I expected her to apply the same if not more amount of effort to you.”
You darted your eyes at him for a second with a clenched jaw. "She tried but it was too late.”
“A shame, really.”
"Yeah,” you felt your breathing gain in depth. “Especially since I feel like a fish out of a pond, exposed for all to see and laugh at.”
"You may go and change if it bothers you,” your brother put a compassionate hand on your shoulder.
"There was no time to find me a new dress. None will suddenly magically appear because I returned to my chambers in the spawn of half an hour,” your involuntary sharp words caused his support on your shoulder to recoil away. It was stronger than you, and despite knowing not to treat him that way, the constant ridicule and shutting down had put you on edge.
"Don't be so glum, give them a week with new gossip and they'll forget all about it.”
"Gossip from the palace doesn’t die quickly,” you grumbled.
"So you say,” his voice was starting to sound disinterested and distant.
"But perhaps if you were to fabricate one after tonight? In the upcoming week perhaps?” You tempted with a more enthusiastic tongue, turning your head to glance at him with hope. Truly, it would give you enough ammo to make it through the night less scathed.
He gave you an irritated look before looking back again to the masses. "You think me your servant ? I've already tried bending hell and heaven for this ball and you ask for more in such a small window time? I will not help you further with this matter. If you are displeased with your own personal choices, then the least you can do is keep your head high." He finished by walking away and disappearing into the room.
Feeling small by the minute, you bit the inside of your cheeks, fully aware that he was right. That keeping your gaze upright, looking over the conversations and laughter filled crowd would help you save whatever face you had left.
As thoughts of never venturing down such a path again tried brewing in your brain, you locked eyes with the person who had since the beginning tempted you to fall down this free for all fall. Sabo stood near a wall, his arms crossed, his attention heavily focused on you for what had most likely been a while. No snicker nor malice could be traced on his features, which much to your relief slightly appeased your worrying.
You were unsure of which expression to give in turn. A smile? A nod? Surely not a wave. Instead you made your way to skip and cross guests, momentarily stopping here and there when a conversation was brought to you by others, no doubt with vile intention, by subtle innuendo of your attire. Despite that, you allowed the emotions to pile up, pent-up deep within your heart to finally greet Sabo in godd spirits.
“Good evening,” you gave your first genuine smile of the night.
Sabo gave you a quaint nod, turning his attention instead towards the crowd, more precisely scrutinizing the room. It dawned upon your mind that the last time since you spoke to one another did, despite the lack of malevolent intentions, end up rather bitterly. Even so, you went to stand nearby him, keeping your hands joinned near your bodice, thinking of starting anew with the broken feelings of a last encounter behind.
“Might I inquire of your thoughts on the venue? You seem quite engrossed in analyzing it.”
“It's not what I expected.”
“Oh?” You tilted your head, figure brimming with a piqued interest. “How so?”
“It's far less embellished than I had expected,” he turned while you internally marveled at your accomplished goal, to look you in the eye. “Can I assume that is your doing?”
“I'll take it you like it then. The room was heavily tampered with by an unforeseen variable, but it relieves me to hear your thoughts.”
“I see you have backed up your earlier claim of having more power than meets the eyes,” Sabo remained unfazed by your words. “But tell me, why would you do such a thing? What of the other nobles and their thoughts?”
His questions were far from unexpected on your part and you let your eyes wander over to the dancers in the center of the room while smoothly delivering a reply you had turned over in your head like a broken record. “I couldn't give two crumbs about them. This ball wasn't planned in their honor but in ours. And why would I remain a bystander while a ball that would disregard your taste was being organized.”
Sabo uncrossed his arms, taking a step to blur your vision of the waltzing dancer, to fill it instead with his blue attire. “You're satisfied with this?”
“I had wished for far less,” you upheld your gaze in his, noticing the colors of his eyes drowning away your earlier affliction, until an announcement came to rob the moment away.
Your brother had found his place in the midst of his seat and spoke with a conventional tone after having bought the attention of all the guests, interrupted the dancing, eating and quelled the music. “Tonight, dear guests, we are assembled to announce the news of an engagement in our family.” A buzz occured, in which you looked at Sabo with a playful look to meet his blank stare,  but soon did the murmurs were nipped in the bud and calm returned. “I humbly announce that my youngest sister, her highness the princess, is now engaged to Sabo, son of Outlook III.”
It happened in an instant — eyes, from all over bolted in your direction, lighting a sense of red exposure on the tip of your ears.  You were used to attention, but still its clamor would never cease to be overwhelming. Thankfully this time you weren't solely exposed as you glanced at the arm Sabo extended your way. A small gesture, but one that made you feel supported in this limelight. Grateful, you circled your own arm around his and walked, head proud throughout the room, the misplaced sneers and comments momentarily stunned by the news and rendered silent all the way to the King's chair.
“The betrothed everyone, let us wish for a happy marriage,” your brother spoke once you had both made it through to stand in front of him. “Give them a warm applause,” he ordered to the crowd, and as both you and Sabo turned, the once backstabbing guests delivered an obliged cheer, one that enforced your ambition to see this through rather than let it fall apart.
A deafening exclamation filled your ears, and as you looked through the crowd, you perceived the genuine, congratulatory faces of your younger siblings, offering a nice contrast to the fabricated elation of the nobles. Including Sabo’s family who seemed delighted to give thanks and shake hands with honor to whoever stood around them.
You looked up at Sabo to see his blank face hardening under a rigid, conventional smile ; one that sent shivers down your spine as it looked more ominous than sincere. An expression you had never seen him arbor before. What could possibly go on in his mind, you thought, remembering his lucid agitation against nobility.
He caught sight of your eyes, twisting his smile up into a polite one that didn't fail to bring about his attractive traits. His arm that had been freed of your clutch upon meeting the king raised to extend a steady hand in your vicinity.
“A dance, if you may your highness?” He asked you, bending his upper body slightly as proper dance invitations would have it.
You saw him at your level, a look of trust reflected in his eyes, exuding a serious yet alluring charm unbecoming of a noble who only performed this act for the sake of duty. And yet.
Your heart leaped. Quite strongly/fast.
You accepted his hand, slipping your fingers into his sturdy one for the second time, now under favorable circumstances, while your mind tried throwing reminders not to get attached. Not when nothing was set in stone. But infatuation had already been cast over you — your heart wasn’t the only thing affected, for a heat started rushing across your cheeks and a bemused smile pushed through your lips.
Sabo squeezed your hand in response, leading you across the path formed by the parting audience and to the middle of the ballroom. This time you walked by his side, glancing at his side profile ; an opportunity that had been deprived the one time he infuriatingly led you by the hands. An opportunity you now basked in as you took notice of the soft shadows candlelight painted on his features. Delicate, sharp and well maintained.
While musicians readied their instruments, you both exchanged bows. Now standing before one another, ignoring what coursed through the audience, you smiled, a flourishing one brought about by the moment. And even though Sabo simply returned a curt one, it was enough to satisfy you, to see him leave behind his blank state. In fact, as he stepped closer, circling a firm hand on your waist to bring you in closer, at a respectful distance rather than an intimate one, and squeezing your raised hand, you felt elated. In turn, poring into his eyes, you steadied a hand on his shoulder and once more welcomed the warmth that came from such proximity with another.
Even as the music started, time stretched into a simple eternity — Sabo led the pace and you gladly let him, curious to learn more of his dance style than provide a showcase of your own personal skills. Twirling, spinning and stepping in a rhythmic way, your blood pumped in your head while you came to acknowledge, and like the commanding way in which Sabo led you about, nonetheless taking advantage of your arsenal of skills.
“You surprise me. Days of dance lessons weren't taken lightly by you it seems,” you spoke aloud, using the symphony and privacy granted by the proximity.
“Dancing isn't so bad, if you compare it to everything else,” his expression had regained a more grave one.
“You enjoy dancing?”
“It is one of the few universal pleasures of life,” at that, he gripped your waist using both of his hands, utilizing the momentum of the music to spin you in the air, as a testament to his claim.
You, who reflexively stabilized yourself by holding on to his shoulders expecting the mouvement, couldn't help but feel your grin increase in wideness as a rare lower view of Sabo basked in your vision.
After your heels had found the ground, brushing aside his absence of similar delight on his features, you kept your questioning. “I wasn't expecting you to keep up with this farce so accurately in front of everyone.”
“I told you, didn't I? That I at least wouldn’t cause you harm in other’s eyes. It’s only a ball and I hope the only social event we’ll attend together.”
The only event…? Was he planning on limiting social appearances to a minimum? But why? As you furrowed your eyebrows, wanting to ask for further details, you felt yourself interrupted by the joining of other pairs to the dance floor. Enough time had passed for other duos to join as the appropriate solo rundown of you along with Sabo, guests of honor, had run dry. Therefore, shadows started appearing in your peripheral vision, and you weren’t clumsy enough to tread a delicate conversation with them waltzing so close to your side.
As such you gave a comprehensive nod along with a polite smile.
The remnant of the waltz was spent in quietude; your eyes darting about over Sabo’s upper body, taking notice of the veins in his neck, the details of his scar, the way in which his neck cravate edged on the loose side, rather than keeping eye contact with him.  You were reminded once more, after the thrill of a new experience subsided, that your fate stood incertain. And yet here you were, slowly growing more than attached to someone you could barely keep in your grasp.
Eventually, the melody of the orchestra came to an end, bows were exchanged and the floor evacuated for new pairs of dancers. Sabo and you both reentered the crowd side by side, and as you foresaw, were greeted by a crash of curious tongues wanting of gossip, by offering congratulations and wishes first.
Used to such a display, their banter flew over your head, making you notice the way in which Sabo’s expression darkened. Displeasure was hidden behind his polite composure, yet etiquette had it that it was far too early for an excuse to leave. Therefore you pressed on, taking the initiative in every conversation in his stead. Smiling, chuckling, slithering venomous remarks if provoked, until your own arsenal of skills neared its depletion.
“If you would excuse us, sirs, madams, but my fiance and I have an urgent matter to discuss between ourselves,” Sabo spoke to a ring of inquisitors, his arm extending towards your silent form for you to take.
As you did, playing along by exchanging insipid goodbyes, you waited until your trail led you far enough from the talkers to whisper the reason behind his act. “An urgent matter to discuss between ourselves? What an unoriginal excuse if I've ever heard one.”
Sabo brushed aside your comment, his eyes searching for the safest route as he led you about the crowd. “You seemed quite tired out there.”
“Did I? I didn't notice,” you glanced up his way, only feeling a slight pain from your heels.
“Your lips were stiffening in between conversations,” Sabo spared you a momentary side glance, one that made you acknowledge his attention to details through surprised brows. “Let's get out of here,” he accelerated his pace, almost dragging you along the room without waiting for your reply.
You had remained in silence, at first flattered by his care but soon curious as to his destination. “Where are we going?” The two of you now walked a deserted corridor nearby the ballroom. On this festive night, candles had been freed from certain parts of the castle to prevent the scurrying of unwanted guests and make sure a single path was followed. A path which Sabo derived from the seconds guards looked away — and it had surprised you to see him furtively trutt about in your own home, skillfully unnoticed.
You stopped, tugging on his arm to inquire him to look your way. “Sabo!”
He turned, freeing himself from your clutch with a single glance down your hand. “Nowhere in particular, away from that wretched place,” he crossed his arms and went to sit on the nearest windowsill. “You're free to go wherever you wish now, your highness.”
You cringed at the sound of your title. “Spare me your sarcasm at least for tonight. I've heard my fair share of incredulous remarks and body languages.”
“Due to your dress?”
You sighed a heavy lamentation. It drained you enough to go and sit by next to Sabo, the exhaustion of the day soon to set throughout your body. “Mind adding to the long list of comments? Perhaps it is too drab?  Simple? Inappropriate? Original? Share your thoughts,” you waved an uninterested hand his way, fighting the urge to lean on the window’s glass.
“It looks good on you. Far from obscene like the other women,” his tone hid no trace of malice, which prompted you to raise a playful eyebrow at him, and to your surprise Sabo’s expression had been washed away from its blank state to appear more relaxed. “I like it,” he finished with a nod.
You smiled teasingly, feeling skeptic towards your first compliment of the night. “You're exaggerating.”
“I mean it.”
You shifted to turn your knees in his direction, hiding internally the shy glee that propagated throughout your core, sweet and warm with innocence. “And yet you won't take me as spouse.”
Sabo brushed aside your remark, visibly unwilling to tread back on old waters. “Did you not enjoy yourself tonight?” It might seem as though his question was asked out of courtesy, yet, based on a brief profile you had formed of him in your mind, you discerned more to his question than meets the eye.
“Would you like to know my real answer?” You asked with a nonchalant air.
“It is what I asked for.”
You shrugged. “I did not,” the answer came plainly out of you; after a sour night, how could one possibly find enjoyment were they in your shoes? You knew saying otherwise would make you appear frivolous in Sabo’s image of you, and for that fact felt grateful of the hurtful bitter truth being what it was.
“Oh,” Sabo gave you a quizzical look, his knees edging likewise in your direction.
“But it isn't your fault. It is the guests, they are despicable,” you admitted, for once sharing a similar minded opinion with him.
“I hear you. I've experienced that part of them myself. Not a great experience.” He thinned his lips, giving you a sympathetic look, which you gladly met sheepishly.
“Indeed,” you fiddled with your hands while Sabo kept his surveying of your features. Ultimately you sharpened the grip on your intertwined joints as you spoke. “Are people the same as here where you wish to live?”
To your relief, the question wasn't deemed impertinent nor too personal on Sabo’s part as he gave you a genuine response. “Far from that actually, no one judges another for their clothing, all the food gets eaten until there's nothing left and there isn't such abundant waste.”
"Sounds like a nice place to live,” you pointed out with a dreamy smile. Here, you took advantage of the max atmosphere, thinking of Sabo’s guard being down to seize his hands into your own in order to plead your case by appearing to this rare, but currently present,  amiable side of him. “But in truth Sabo, I wish for us to spend more time together. We don’t have to attend social events as you wish, but simply be the two of us together in our company while the engagement lasts.”
“You would only end up hurt”
“I wish to do everything correctly while things still stands, rather than lament at my own inaction,” you gave a slight pressure to his palms.
A pause occured in which his expression became unreadable, giving the false impression in which he considered your words. “Then promise me something,” his fingers gripped on yours with found urgency, his steady gaze meeting yours for more than a fleeting moment.
“Yes?” Your heartbeat accelerated under anticipation, hanging on at the idea of hope that would bear fruit.
“Promise me you will up the wage of your staff, offer them more days off and treat them well. To them our life might seem just as unjust as the way the nobles treated you inside that ballroom,” Sabo delivered, much to your inexpectation. Of course he would think of the well-being of the populace before the possibility of marriage — and you were a fool for wishing otherwise.
Irked, you loosened your pressure over his hands and looked over the window. “I don't have power over the internal affairs of the castle.”
“It is important, you must try.”
“It won't be easy but I suppose I can try speaking to the king,” you folded under his pressure, aware that resisting would simply push him further away, and you closer to a doom in another country.
Sabo freed himself from your weak clutch to  join your hands together, covering your palms in that motion with his and offering a gentle brush atop your skin to bring back your attention to him. “I'll see if I can spare you some time on my end.”
Your heart leaped at his initiative, tempting you to press for more while your brain wanted to speak of a promise too, but the bell struck a new hour; by being far from the festivities it made itself heard quite well.
“It is late, you should retire for the evening,” Sabo advised you with a slight pressure on your joined body parts. “Unless you wish to go back there?”
“God no,” you shook your head, hoping it would fade away the cherry color that settled on your face.
“Then I'll take my leave too,” he rose, letting go on your left hand but keeping a firm grasp on your right. Before you were granted the opportunity of inquiring the reason behind his act, thinking it might be to help you up your feet, you were met with the unforeseeable. A kiss, from his lips, soft, delicate and well placed, deposited itself on the back of your hand, causing the cherry color of your cheeks to become that of a burning fire. “Good night,” Sabo whispered.
“Good night.”
“Readerrrrr, Sabo is making breakfast. Are you coming? can I eat your portion?” Luffy calls, entering her room
“A-ah Luffy! I thought you guys were out today?” She nervously laughs
"We changed our plans and stayed here; now, will you come down for breakfast, or should I eat your share? Luffy asks
“You can…you can... Achoo!”
Luffy stares at her for a second, a smile slowly growing on his face as the seconds pass
“Luffy,” she calls warningly
“Don’t tell them!”
Luffy covers his mouth, hiding his smile from her; the next moment, he runs out. She can hear his voice shouting,
"Sabo! Ace!”
“Luffy!” She groans quickly, running towards her closet to hide. She loved her brothers, she truly did, but Sabo and Ace would not let her see the light of day if they caught on to her having a cold, and Luffy…well, Luffy would manage to find something to poke at regardless
“Ace! Sabo! Reader is sick!”
At the announcement, both flame men start heading to their sister's room, their loud steps resounding through the house
"Huh? Where is she?" Sabo asks, looking at the now-empty room
“Shishishi, She’s hiding again,” comments Luffy, watching his brothers hunt for his sister
"If you don't come out, we will come for you," adds Ace.
She peered through the cracks of the closet, looking as their brothers looked around the room, and prepared to search the house until the familiar itch started growing on her nose. She had tried to hold it, but eventually, the loud sneeze sounded around the room
She shrieks as the closet door opens. Ace entered trough and easily scooped her up, throwing her over his back
"Well, that was easy," Ace comments with an amused tone as he carries her.
Sabo quickly follows his brother with an amused face.
Luffy is laughing his guts out.
"Reader got caught."
Despite her efforts, she couldn’t help the laugh that came bursting from her at his antics
“Let go of me, Ace! Im feeling okay!”
"No, you're not," says Ace as he carries her.
"You're shivering! and you're red as a tomato," points out Sabo
She squeaks as he unceremoniously throws her on the bed, glaring at Ace in a joking manner, who just grins at her in response
“It’s just a little sneeze; it’s probably nothing, guys.”
“She was coughing all night,” cut in Luffy, poking his head in the room briefly, quickly darting out of sight as his comment was received with a pillow chucked his way, leaving with a trail of laughs behind him
“Traitor!” She hisses
Sabo shook his head with a smile, placing a gently kiss on her sister’s forehead, staying in said position for a few seconds, making all protests halt as she relaxed in his hold
“Hmm, you have a fever, too,” he said, backing away
“Yeah, you are burning up,” adds Ace as he checks her forehead
“You’re not going anywhere,” he says as Sabo’s holds becomes more firm
“But I had plans with Robin and Koala today!”
"Not today; you need to stay in bed," Sabo says sternly
"And we'll call them to tell them of the change in plans," Ace adds
“Please?” She begs, putting her hands together
"No, you're sick," replies Sabo, with Ace nodding beside him, making it very clear she has no choice in the matter.
She groans, dropping her head back into bed
“Luffy, go fetch some of the medicine for Reader,” Sabo calls to his little brother, making Luffy sprint off like he was just handed a race track
Ace sits by her side while Sabo opens the window, letting some of the cold winter air in.
“No! I can tough it out; no need for medicine.”
"You'll take the medicine and rest," says Sabo while opening a bottle of medicine after Luffy handed said bottle to him, grinning at her
She scoffs, flipping the finger towards Luffy
Luffy sticks his tongue at her. Sabo chuckles momentarily, taking the chance and giving her the medicine as she and Luffy kept at it.
She sputters, glaring at him, a pout on her red face wincing at the taste
Ace leans over and pats her on the head as she keeps pouting.
“What a grumpy sick child,” Sabo comments with a hint of amusement in his voice
“You guys are mean.”
“You're just grumpy,” Ace replies with a smile
“And adorable,” continues Sabo
“And grumpy,” Luffy repeats
“Oi!”
Ace laughs, pulling and squishing her cheeks
“you’re adorable when you’re grumpy.”
She pushes his hands away,
“Aren’t you supposed to be helping me get better? You guys are just teasing me.”
“And this is how we take care of you,” replies Sabo
“with lots of teasing,” Ace adds.
She rolls her eyes, about to throw another comeback, until she falls in a fit of coughs
Sabo sighs
“Okay, it’s time for you to lay down; enough joking around,” he said, pushing her back on the bed and pulling the covers over her
"You need a few good days of bed rest," he comments
"I'm gonna be watching over you," Ace adds as he sits beside her on the bed.
“So you better get used to my annoying presence,” continues Ace
“I’ll check up on you later," Sabo says with a smile before he departs.
“You need sleep, reader,” Ace says as his hands start to tuck her in even more
“Night night,” he finishes wrapping the blanket over her more
She glances at her older brother
“Can you let me go out today?” She whispers, looking at Ace with a sly grin
He raises his eyebrow, letting out a small chuckle
“Not a chance,” replies Ace, shaking his head.
“No more discussion.”
“Boohoo”
“You're a child. I hope you know that?” He comments
“You can stop pouting. Not going to work,” he adds
Ace can't help but laugh, jumping into the bed with her
He pulls her slightly onto his lap, wrapping the blanket tightly around her body.
She smiles in his embrace,
“not fair; you and Sabo are so warm; you guys are like walking heaters with your mera-mera fruits.”
“You’re not so far off from being a heater with that fever of yours,” replies Ace with a smirk
He continues snuggling her and rocking her back and forth in bed.
She grumbles at his comment, snuggling into him further, the combination of the gently rocking and his emanating warm a sure recipe to sleep as she is slowly lulled to sleep
Ace continues rocking her back and forth; a slight smirk crosses his face, enjoying how easy she was to handle once she got to cuddle
As she leans into him and falls asleep, he continues the rocking and wraps his arms around her, keeping her nice and cozy
It isn't until a few hours later when she opens her eyes rather than her oldest brother lying in bed with her, it was now replaced with the familiar figure of her uncle
“Hmm? Uncle Shanks?”
Shanks smiles as he runs his fingers through her hair
“I’m here for you, dear,” he replies gently while wrapping the blanket even tighter around his little niece.
She smiles, hugging him
“When did you get here?” she mumbles
“I came in a little while ago, once I heard you had a fever, Luffy gave me a call,” he replied with a smile
He adjusts the covers, snuggling her closer to him
“How are you feeling?” he asks with a soft voice
“Im okay; Sabo and Ace are just worrywarts,”
Shanks chuckles as he strokes her hair
"Well, you are their only sister, the youngest one, too," he says, giving her a small kiss on her forehead
She Hums at his comment
“Will you stay the night?”
"Are you asking me to stay, or did you order me to?" he responds with a smirk
"Either way, I was already planning on it; I will be staying here until you're feeling better."
She scoffs out a laugh at his reply
"And what's so funny, missy?" he asks with a fake insulted tone
"I will be spending every night taking care of my favorite niece," he replies, ruffling her hair
“Uncle Beck was right; you’re an idiot, Uncle Shanks,” she laughs sleepily
Shanks shakes his head, smiling at her
"And you're insufferable when you're sick."
"Get some rest" he continues, wrapping himself around her and snuggling with her.
Hi and may I ask if you Can you do One piece x Reader?
Reader as Luffy's twin "Brother (sister)" and a mermaid. Having the same personality and abilities,(and probably devil fruit, like they ate slices from the same fruit and both of them had rubber powers or not), and just like Luffy, despite being a mermaid, Reader's SUCKS at swimming
As a devil fruit user, Luffy twin's already atrocious swimming skills are now at zero. She can still breathe under water, but will sink like a stone, her strength sapped by the sea, and if she loses consciousness she’ll stop breathing too. Needless to say, she stays out of the water, and the villagers come to accept that sometimes, mermaids just live on land.
(also you can change these if you like)
Just like in canon, Luffy and Reader meet the Shank and they got kidnap by Bandits
Luffy and Reader meet Dandan and the bandits, Ace and Sabo and they still rescue Luffy and Reader, and they still exchange sake cups and become brothers. Yes, brothers.
Because at this point, neither Ace nor Sabo nor any of the bandits, nor anyone really on Dawn island save Makino and Garp actually know that Luffy twin’s a girl. Not even Luffy and Reader, herself.
Asl and reader made a promise to each other that they’ll all leave the island when they turn seventeen, setting out to sea to become pirates
This concerns Ace and Sabo, even Luffy, given how often people try to sell Luffy twin's how despite aquatic appearances she's vulnerable in water, but decide to wait and see.
Sabo 'dies', Ace, Luffy, and Reader continue to train, and things don’t change until Ace is seventeen, shortly before he sets out to sea.
Ace, Luffy, and the Bandits discover Reader's a girl. Reader doesnt know what a girl is, so does Luffy, he and Ace realizes they're troubled because Ace can't remember the number of times he and Luffy rescued her from potential traffickers and Ace doubts of letting Reader go out to the sea. But at the same time, it’s not like he can order her to stay here.
The night before he leaves, Ace tells Luffy that there’s been a change of plans. Like He made Luffy promise to always stay by Reader's side when they became 17 and became pirates In the same crew or Ace will return to them when they're 17 and joining they're crew.
I will try my best with what you’ve given me to go off of.
-They couldn’t have known, hell you didn’t even know! How could you have not known?!
-Ace was rubbing his face with his hands, trying to will away the stress that was building up, feeling like his head was going to explode clean off from the pressure.
-All these years, all these years spent together, and he had no idea that you were actually a girl! They had all thought you were a boy!
-Being Luffy’s twin caused some headaches, mainly for Garp as he had to deal with two of you knuckleheads, but even more so when you both found and ate a Devil Fruit, Luffy becoming a rubber man and you becoming a mermaid, having the ability to control water.
-However, despite being a mermaid and being able to control water, you still sank like a stone, so you couldn’t swim, which was rather amusing to see, seeing that you were a mermaid that couldn’t swim.
-While that did little to limit you, as either Luffy, Sabo, or Ace had carried you everywhere, you were still a pain in the butt like Luffy, always causing trouble, but you were loyal and kind to your big brothers, swearing to always be brothers with the three of them, drinking sake together all those years ago, despite the yucky taste.
-It wasn’t until you started to get older when your breasts started to come in that everyone, Ace, Sabo, Luffy, Garp, Dandan, the bandits, everyone- realized that you were a girl, and you had been all this time!
-The panic that reigned over the island felt like it lasted for days, while you were a bit confused as to why everyone was shouting so much.
-Makino and Dandan had to teach you that you were a girl, basically telling you what that meant. Luffy was clueless as well, but Ace was beside himself as he couldn’t recall how many times you had been kidnapped by traffickers who would have loved to get their hands on a mermaid, and being a female mermaid, if they had managed to get away, they would have made a fortune!
-It was the night before Ace was leaving, having been training hard alongside you and Luffy, but now that he was faced with this dilemma, now knowing you were a girl, he was hesitant on leaving, not wanting to risk your safety.
-It was Luffy who came to him, looking for his big brother, “Are you okay Ace?” the older boy inhaled deeply, patting the rock beside him as he was sitting outside, trying to cool his head, “Luffy I… I’m worried about Y/N- I’m worried that if I’m not here to help you keep her safe, she’s going to get taken away.”
-Luffy got mad, showing his angry side for once, “Nobody will take Y/N away from us! Not while I’m here!” Ace couldn’t help but smile at his brother, feeling relieved at his answer before he sighed before he stood, making Luffy look up at him.
-Ace rarely was this serious, but he put a hand on Luffy’s shoulder, “Luffy, swear to me- swear on your life, that you will keep Y/N safe, for the both of us. I’ll come back when you’re both older and take you both on my own crew.”
-Luffy was quiet for a moment, as he wasn’t used to seeing Ace being so serious, but he beamed up at him, “Of course I’ll keep Y/N safe! But we’re going out and making our own crew because I’m going to be King of the Pirates!”
-Ace couldn’t help but grin, ruffling his brother’s head gently, knowing that you would be in good hands in Luffy… he hoped, since Luffy and you were both idiots, but if anyone could do it- you two could.
Hi Aly, I hope you still take requests. If yes, could you please write a short fic where zoro slowly falls in love with "luffys older sister" that's as "stoic" as zoro but somehow really clumsy? Thanks in advance <3 and have a nice day :D
Hi friend. I am still taking requests. This was a really cute idea. I tried to keep it pretty short for you. I hope you like it and have a nice day as well.
Zoro x Luffy's Older Sister Reader: Would Have Never Guessed
Tumblr media
Luffy was super energetic and not serious.  So, when they met you in Punk Hazard, his older sister, they were shocked.  You were stoic, just as stoic as Zoro.  Everyone was questioning how you two were siblings.  Luffy asked you to finally join his crew and you did.  You usually kept to yourself, which no one minded.  But that piqued Zoro’s interest.  He knew you were a writer, so he knew you would be gathering books.  One day he had followed you (of course not letting you see) and he learned a lot about you.  You were the clumsiest person he knew.  You tripped over everything, knocked things over all the time, and accidentally dropped stuff.  He would have never guessed someone as stoic as you would be so clumsy.  Most people he knew who were stoic were perfectionist and never did anything clumsy.
But, the more he followed you and even talked to you.  The more he fell in love.  You were everything he wanted.  You weren’t one of those loud obnoxious girls who threw themselves at men.  You were just you.  He learned you started writing in honor of your brother Sabo, who had died.  You didn’t like Sake so you gave him your share.  He never believed in love, but he loved you more and more.  Who would have guessed that Zoro would have fallen in love for the girl like you, the clumsy and serious sister of his goofy captain.
where you belong [1/10]
Summary: As Luffy's big sister, you've viewed it to be your job to see him become King of the Pirates in place of your absent parents, even as you try to find where it is you belong in the world. You never really expected to draw the attention of Trafalgar Law in the process.
Pairing: Trafalgar Law x Fem!reader
Warnings: Discussion of feelings of abandonment, age gap relationship (four years), brief secret relationship, mentions and heavy refences to sex, mentions of alcohol, typical One Piece stuff. Other warnings to be added if needed.
Notes: Hi, it's me again! Another fanfic here for you all! When this goes up, I'll be on my last day of vacation before I fly home, so I hope that you'll enjoy this! I know Straw Hat Reader x Law is popular, and I wanted to write my own, but with the Reader being Luffy's biological older sister. So for this, Reader is three years older than Luffy, 20 at the start and 22 after the timeskip, making Law four years older. I personally like older men, and age gap fics are just delicious reading material for me (within reason, nothing illegal).
Note 2: This is NOT the Law with vitiligo series. That one is actively being planned but will be separate from this one.
Tumblr media
“And I’m gonna be King of the Pirates!!”
Luffy standing your tiny dingy boat worries you a little, but you still grin at him and nod.
“Hell yeah you will be!”
“Your turn! What’re you gonna do while we sail??”
Rolling your eyes, you make Luffy sit down while you stand up.
“Easy. I’m gonna chronicle your journey and write the greatest story ever told!”
Your younger brother watches you, tilting his head when you don’t continue. He believes there has to be more you want out of life, and tries to make you say what else is in your plans, what you have on your mind.
“And?”
Taking a breath, you nod. Of course he knew you had more, it’s Luffy, he’s been by your since he was just a few weeks old. Things you’ve said over time, to him and Ace, they’d both known for a long time what you’ve always wanted to find once you went out to sea.
“And find where it is I belong.”
+!+
Your arrival in Sabaody was a trip, in more than one way. You'd been excited to explore the place, hoping you could pawn your younger brother off on Camie, Pappag, and the others so you could have some time on your own to shop the stalls, maybe with Nami and Robin, turn it into a girl’s day. Of course, though, nothing could be so easy when your brother is the captain of the Straw Hats. You all find yourselves at the human auction hall, Nami willing to spend all the money possible to save Camie, but it makes you itchy while being there. You cringe to think about the things that happened in this place, how many people had been sold to Celestial Dragons. Your and Luffy's loss of Sabo due to the actions of one had severely soured your opinions on them.
You scan the crowd in the auction house, scratching at your arms which never seem to calm down while the rest of your crew discusses their plan to save Camie, and you end up locking eyes with another pirate captain there, unknown to you at that moment but somehow familiar.
A furry white, spotted hat, dark hair you can barely see, oddly enough you think his facial hair is attractive, and those yellow eyes that you almost would believe see right through you.
Trafalgar Law simply stares at you, realizing you’re a Straw Hat when he recognizes the rest of your crewmates. After a moment of fidgeting slightly you give him a nervous smile and a wave, which he returns with a nod before turning back to the auction stage as they continue to call bids on people.
Weird girl.
Strange guy.
Although she’s busy watching for Camie to be brought out, Nami still leans into you when you pull on her sleeve and start to whisper. “You see that guy in the white spotted hat?”
“What about him?”
“I think he’s Trafalgar Law, captain of the Heart Pirates. He’s more attractive than his poster makes him.”
Rolling her eyes, Nami pulls her arm away from you. “I don’t have time for you to be horny about some guy.”
“Wha—Nami!! I’m not! I’m just saying.”
She doesn’t listen to you anymore, focusing back on waiting for Camie and sending you to watch for Luffy, just so you don’t get distracted by the attractive enemy captain and defect to another crew.
You swear you never will, but do as you’re told to watch for your brother. Maybe one day you’ll get to properly meet Law, you’re quite curious about the young man.
+!+
“Another one?! Are you kidding me, Dragon?!”
You’re three years old when you wake up to your grandfather yelling at someone in the middle of the night. Normally Garp is sure to keep things quiet so you, his sweet little princess angel granddaughter, can sleep peacefully. He’d leave early in the morning once your nanny showed up for the day, returning before dinner so he had the evenings with you before you had to be off to bed, to do the day over again the next morning. It’s rare for you to stay up late or wake up early, but the few mornings you’ve woken up before he left were some of Garp’s favorites.
You quietly slip out of your bed, blanket in your hand as you rub your eyes and go to the door, opening it just enough to see what’s happening. Garp is there with someone in a green cloak, you can’t see the other person’s face, but listen anyway.
“He’s the last one, there won’t be anymore.”
“You said [Y/N] was going to be the only one!”
“Things happened.”
“Obviously something happened, babies don’t appear out of thin air!’
You tilt your head, the man in the cloak catching your eye, which makes you shy away behind your doorway, glancing away before back to him as he looks to Garp again.
“Take care of them.” He goes to leave and is gone before Garp can even stop him.
“Dragon, wait--! That…damn idiot.”
“Grandpa?”
Garp is surprised to hear your voice, turning around once he closes the door, giving you a smile while you start to focus on the bundle he's holding.
“Hey there, princess, what are you doing up?”
“I heard yelling…”
Nodding, Garp apologizes as he picks you up, letting you settle on his free arm. “Sorry about that, angel. Just… an unexpected visitor.”
“Oh…”
Garp sees you staring more at the bundle of blankets in his arm than at him, and he sighs a bit, taking you to the living room and setting you on the couch, before showing you how to position your arms as he sets the now squirming bundle in your arms.
“[Y/N], this is your baby brother. His name is Luffy.”
How unexpected! You’ve never thought about having a sibling, just enjoying your childhood and life with your grandpa, but seeing this tiny little boy in your just as small arms makes you grin while you look at him. Dark black hair and just as dark eyes, scrunched up little face and tiny hands in fists while he starts to fuss and whine.
“Luffy…”
+!+
Luffy…
You hope your prayers aren’t going unheard, that Luffy will return to you safely. Ace’s death has long passed, but you’re more worried about your little brother than anything else right now. You’d both been sent off to Amazon Lily by Kuma, but after they’d all agreed to let you both stay, and Boa Hancock seems to have fallen in love with him, Luffy left you there to go rescue Ace, that was nearly three weeks ago now, you think. You want him back, both of them, but want to see Luffy more than anyone else.
“Luffy’s returned, [Y/N]-san!”
“He has?!”
Marguerite nods and you quickly get up from your seat and run after her to wherever Luffy is. The newspapers kept implying he was dead, you were terrified you’d lost him and Ace that day, no updates from anyone apart from the papers cheering for the Navy’s alleged victory, for the deaths of Ace and Whitebeard. The Amazons, all so kind to let you stay while Luffy went to try and rescue Ace, were unsure of how to help you the last two weeks once Ace’s vivre card burned to nothing in your hands and made you nearly inconsolable.
Despite that, your prayers hadn’t gone unheard.
Once you’re at the beach that Luffy should be at, you notice immediately the big yellow submarine with the word DEATH on it and it freaks you out more than anything. You don’t know who owns it, but when you catch sight of someone you’ve only seen in person once, you worry that he’s done something to Luffy. You don’t say a word, but someone in a jumpsuit (boiler suit you think?) calls out “captain” just in time for him to turn towards you as you shove the older boy to the ground, placing yourself on top of him and your knife to his neck.
Part of you wishes it was poisoned right now, just in case this Trafalgar Law has done something to your brother.
“Where’s Luffy?!”
The knife you have at his neck doesn’t phase Law even a tiny bit, it’s the fact that someone so much shorter and smaller than him was able to catch him off guard and shove him to the ground the way you did. You’re angry for some reason, giving him a nasty glare but look like you’re about to cry on top of it, as he just stares at you, his crewmembers shouting for you to get off their captain before he raises a hand to stop them.
“Who—”
“Tell me, where is my brother?!”
Oh so that’s what’s wrong, that’s who you are. Whether you’re related to Luffy by blood or by ritual cup like Ace was, Law doesn’t know, but he’s sure you want reassurance you haven’t lost two brothers in one day.
“Are you [Y/N]?”
You turn your head to look over your shoulder at Jinbei, still glaring. “Who’s asking?!”
“I was friends with your brother Ace, he told me about you and Luffy while we were in Impel Down.”
“He…did?”
You’ve calmed down so quickly hearing Ace’s name, retracting your knife just slightly, while Jinbei explains things to you. You don’t move off of Law though, listening quietly, fighting the desire to cry more. You’ve done enough of that, you don’t want to anymore today.
Law doesn’t even try to move you off, knowing, like Luffy, you’re emotionally hurting right now. He doesn’t want to risk you slicing his neck either, even as Jinbei finishes telling you everything Ace did, and you still don’t move or look at Law.
“Ace hopes you find what you’re looking for.”
You clench your jaw a bit at first, before smiling sadly and nodding, thanking Jinbei for the information before Law speaks up.
“If you get off me, I can take you to Straw Hat-ya.”
You blink, finally looking back to Law, and you feel your face burn with a blush when you realize your position and scramble to get off him, apologizing the whole way while he shakes his head. Once he’s on his feet, Law let’s you onto the Polar Tang and leads you down the hallway to the infirmary, updating you on Luffy’s condition the best he can with the knowledge he has.
“If he pulls through this, the most you’ll have to worry about is his mental health.”
“Mm.” You nod, grabbing Law’s arm as he stops to open a door, making him look back at you. “I apologize for shoving you down.”
“I’ve been through worse,” Law shrugs, you could tell just from looking at him, though he does smirk a bit at you, “Never had a girl push me down and hold a poisoned knife to my neck before though.”
“It wasn’t poisoned,” you almost shout, but keep your voice down to not wake Luffy, “…this time…”
He almost laughs, but when you see Luffy finally, you’re instantly but his side, taking his hand and trying to keep yourself from crying seeing him in such a state. He’d been injured badly before, but never like this, never this close to death.
“Luffy…oh Luffy, I’m here, Lu,” you brush his bangs away from his face before kissing his forehead, “I’m so sorry I wasn’t there, I should’ve come with you…”
Law doesn’t bother you for the next several minutes, stepping out so you have some privacy while you make sure Luffy is all right, your quiet prayers that he wakes soon and heals quickly don’t go unheard by the surgeon of death, who thinks back to his own sister and the prayers he’d once prayed for her health as a child.
As an older sibling, he gets it. While he still doesn’t know yet if you’re related by blood or sworn siblings, he does see how much you care for Luffy, and for your sake he hopes your captain wakes sooner rather than later.
+!+
You spend the next two weeks in and out of the Polar Tang, checking on Luffy and praying over him to wake soon, Law being the one to take you in and lead you back out most of the time, even though you’ve memorized the path already. The next time you leave Luffy to continue recovering, the friends you and Luffy have made from Amazon Lily have shown up in the time you’ve been with him, bringing food and drinks for you all. As you walk over to where he’s seated, Law offers you a drink that you reject with a shake of your head, sitting on the other side of the tree and bringing your knees up to your chest, hiding your face in them.
“Any signs he’s waking up?”
Shaking your head, you sigh and lean back, looking at the people around to distract yourself from worrying over Luffy.
“That your crew?”
“Yep. All twenty of them.”
You smile a bit, watching the Heart Pirates goof off while some have their meal and share drinks. It almost reminds you of the Straw Hats and makes your heart ache from missing them deeply.
“You have a nice group there.”
“They can be a handful.”
It makes you laugh a bit, nodding before you decide to stop wallowing and get back up, standing beside Law where he stays seated.
“Think you should hold this for now.”
Law tosses Luffy’s straw hat to you, and you grit your teeth a bit while you stare at it. You had wondered where it was, seeing it wasn’t around when you were with Luffy. You hold nothing but the highest regards for Shanks, he'd been an inspiration for you and Luffy when you were children, he helped end the war and helped Law save Luffy, but how you wish he’d shown up sooner. Maybe he could’ve helped Ace too.
“Thank you, for holding this.”
“Seems important to him, he’s not Straw Hat-ya without it.”
Smiling a bit, you nod. “He’s certainly not.”
“How do you—”
“I’m his big sister. I was three when our dad dropped him off with me and grandpa. We’ve been together almost every day since.”
“I see.”
You’re not entirely sure you trust Law, despite his saving Luffy, but you’re willing to give him a shot. At least let him know a bit about your history with Ace too, since he'd been there when you hadn’t been. Where Luffy asked you not to go.
“We met Ace and another boy when I was ten, and become sworn siblings with them soon after. The other boy died a few months later,” you grip the straw hat a bit tighter, but loosen your hold after being stabbed in the hand by sharp bits of straw, “a Celestial Dragon did it, we’ve not been fans of them since, so Luffy punching that one in Sabaody felt like some payback.”
“That makes sense.”
After a few minutes of silence, you finally realize something and turn to Law, sticking your hand out for him.
“Never introduced myself. Monkey D. [Y/N]. I don’t really use my last name though.”
Law takes your hand after a moment, nodding. “Trafalgar Law.”
“Thank you for saving my baby brother.”
“Don’t thank me until he wakes up.”
As if almost on cue, the door comes flying off the Polar Tang and you both whip your heads over, Law running ahead of you as you follow, and Luffy’s the next thing to almost fly out of the ship.
“Luffy!!”
You’re about to run to him before Law grabs hold of your arm, pulling you to himself and holding you still, even while you thrash around and listen to Luffy call for Ace. It breaks your heart to see him so upset, and you just want to console him, have him do the same for you, while you both continue to grieve for Ace. But Law won’t let you go to him, fear or concern your brother might hurt you while he fights through pain and raging emotions, before he disappears into the forest.
“Luffy, come back!!”
You barely register Jinbei asking what’ll happen if Luffy continues to flail and run off like that, before Law speaks and your heart almost drops to your stomach at the thought.
“If he continues to move around like that he could reopen his wound and bleed out. He’ll die.”
Quickly you turn around and Law isn’t at all shocked to see the tears welling up in your eyes as you grip his shirt, still holding Luffy’s straw hat.
“Don’t let that happen!! Please!! He’s all I have! Luffy is my whole world, I can’t lose him!!”
Unsure of what to do, especially once you lay your head on his chest while you cry, Law hesitantly wraps his arms around you and watches Jinbei go off to Luffy. Maybe he’ll be able to calm your brother down before he really hurts or kills himself.
You’ve both been through a lot the last few weeks, losing Luffy would break you more than losing Ace did to him.
+!+
“I’m sorry I got snot on your shirt.”
“Don’t worry about it. It’ll wash.”
You glance away and keep your eyes averted while Law changes shirts, having taken you onto the Polar Tang while Jinbei attempts to calm Luffy down. He didn’t fully mean to bring you into his room, but he never let go of your wrist while he led through the ship, making you sit down to hopefully calm you down. You do catch sight of his tattoos, wanting to say something but you don’t want to sound like a creep or a pervert at the same time.
“Why don’t you use your last name?”
Law surprises you once he’s changed shirts, this one almost the same as the yellow one he’d been wearing, but now a dark blue with a furry, feathery collar that you really want to pet, it looks soft. But again, you don’t want to seem like a creep.
For a moment you’re quiet, before you cross your arms and lean against the wall, shrugging.
“Why should I use the name of someone who abandoned me? I only have one memory of my father, and it was when he dropped off Luffy.”
“Your grandfather is Garp, isn’t he?”
“I love my grandpa like he’s my dad…but I don’t want to use my last name.”
Law nods a bit, seeming to understand. You felt abandoned, and wanted nothing to do with your biological father, instead viewing Garp in that light, which makes sense.
He'd viewed Corazon in the same light at one point.
“Your mother?”
“I know nothing about her. It’s like…” You start to bury your head in your knees again, almost digging your nails into your arms, “Like I don’t know who I am half the time…”
He gets that too, the same feelings after Flevance, after losing Corazon and leaving the Don Quixote family, leaving Doflamingo behind. Many times of looking in the mirror and asking “who the hell am I”.
Law is about to respond, before one of his crewmembers yells for you both that Luffy and Jinbei have returned to the beach, and you’re out the door so fast he isn’t able to believe it. He follows you out, not all surprised to see you and Luffy hugging each other tightly once he exits his ship.
Your bond with Luffy would be on full display the next few days, Law truthfully does wonder if he and Lammy would’ve been the same.
+!+
“I met some people who are friends with our dad.”
“You what?”
Luffy nods, giving you this information during dinner one evening, while you stare at him with such a blank look that Law thinks you’ve completely shut down. You didn’t say too much about your dad while you relayed some of your childhood to him earlier that day, apart from your perceived abandonment, but the look you have isn’t a very happy one.
“They’re were some cool people! They helped me escape that prison and…tried to help me save Ace.”
“So they were revolutionaries.”
“Yeah, they…they said they didn’t even know we existed.” Luffy scrunches up his face a bit while you frown, then pat his head.
“I’m not surprised, Lu.”
Luffy makes a face now, one that’s almost disgusted but annoyed but upset maybe. Law swears he isn’t trying to eavesdrop, you two are sitting too close to him anyway, you’re practically pressed up against his side. You both appear to have problems with your father, after the little bit you’ve told him and how you confessed to feeling abandoned by your parents. He wonders briefly is Luffy feels the same, even as your younger brother leans against you, pushing you fully into Law’s arm and making you glance up at him apologetically. He doesn’t move, once again doesn’t push you off, instead shifting his arm enough for you to be comfortable.
When Luffy falls asleep, you finally speak again.
“Luffy met our dad once, in Loguetown”
“Oh yeah?”
“Neither of us knew until grandpa told us…he didn’t even stop to say anything to me…”
“…I’m sorry.”
You shrug, watching Luffy. It still stung to know that, to know that Dragon didn’t even seek you out when he must’ve known you were on Luffy’s crew, that you’d never leave him to do this alone. When Garp told you he’d been in Loguetown that day, it felt like a knife in your heart that you didn’t even get to see or speak to your father.
Law, while he watches you start to drift off to sleep yourself, thinks about his own dad and Corazon at the same time. He had two fathers in the end, who both cared about and loved him deeply, both wanting to protect him as long as they could. He had his mother and Lammy too, you had Luffy and Garp, but it wasn’t enough for you, and it makes sense. To not have that connection with the people who gave you life, Law can’t even imagine how difficult that must be.
He ignores the slight snickers and comments from his crew when they see you leaned against him, even has he slightly tilts his head towards yours, not going all the way to lay his against your own. Even when Shachi makes a small comment about ‘love’ being in the air at Amazon Lily, Law doesn’t open his eyes to respond or even Shambles his friend away.
You won’t see each other again for a long time after this, most likely, so he’s willing to give you some comfort and allow his crew to see him a little softer than normal.
+!+
“Bye, thanks for your help, Traffy!”
Law tries not to grimace at the nickname Luffy’s given him over the last few days, nodding to you both as his crew also shouts goodbyes and wave to you both, you personally sad to see them leave. You’d spent so much time getting to know them while taking care of Luffy, that it felt like you were losing friends again. You’d probably see them one day, maybe as friends but maybe as foes, yet, you’d like to see more of Law and learn about him like he had you.
Luffy notices your face, the sad look it has, then looks back to the Heart Pirates as they start to disappear below deck. You’ve already chosen to stay on Amazon Lily the next two years and learn from the women there how to fight, but even watching you the last couple days, he could see your heart wasn’t in it. You more so loved using your knives and making poisons, he remembers the one he and Ace mistakenly drank thinking it was lavender tea from Makino. You weren’t an archer or a swordswoman, you much prefer close combat and paralyzing your enemies. Your work during Enies Lobby earned you your $25 million berri bounty, the Navy having trouble recreating antidotes from the one you’d left with a knocked out marine, they knew you’d be trouble one day.
With all that in mind, Luffy sneaks up behind you, wrapping his arms around you in what you first believe to be a hug, before he lifts you up and you look at him. He’s got a grin that concerns you greatly as the color drains from your face.
“Luffy.”
He giggles a bit, nodding at you to brace yourself.
“Luffy, don’t you dare.”
“Have fun with Traffy for two years!!!”
He doesn’t give you anymore room to argue, flinging you towards the Polar Tang, making you yell for Law to pay attention, and he barely does in time to catch you, knocking both of you to the ground, several Heart Pirates making sure both of you are all right and that Law didn’t hit his head on anything.
You’re up and holding onto the railing, yelling at Luffy, “You’re an idiot!!!”
He pretends he can’t hear you, waving widely and shouting another goodbye, but to you this time.
Once Law is sitting up, realizing what the hell has happened, he sighs a bit while you look back to him.
“I’m sorry, Trafalgar. You can turn back and I’ll beat some sense into him!”
One of his crewmembers, you’re pretty sure it’s Shachi, leans down to ask him, “Should we? Kinda seems like Straw Hat wants us to take her along.”
He sighs, taking his hat off and running his hand through his hair, shaking his head.
“You can stay.”
“…huh?”
You tilt your head in confusion, Law doesn’t think it’s cute at all no matter what that weird feeling in his chest is, while he stands up and nods at you.
“The Amazons might get angry if we return without permission, so we’ll just…take you along…and then bring you to Sabaody.”
Blinking several times, you’re still confused while some of his crew laugh, Penguin coming up to pat you on the back.
“You’re a temporary Heart Pirate! We’ll take care of you!”
Nodding, Law turns to go below deck.
“Say your goodbye, we’ll be going under shortly.”
While the rest of them follow after their captain, you turn back and see Luffy still waving at you, which makes you sigh and shake your head. You do smile though, you had wanted to continue getting to know Law and his crew, this was a perfect opportunity, and maybe he could help you with creating effective antidotes for your poisons.
“Luffy! Love you, see you in two years!”
“Okay!!!!”
Once you go below deck, Penguin being the one to wait for you in order to close the door properly, he starts to show you around a bit, the rest of the crew happy to see you’re staying with them for now, while Law keeps a slight distance unless he’s asked about something. You looking around and being so impressed by the submarine caused another weird feeling in his chest, and he fights to ignore it, especially when you thank him for letting you stay with a smile, which he waves off with an “It’s nothing”.
It's going to be an interesting two years.
