Regarding More Shapes + Raves + the blog's future

So you might be wondering why I mostly moved on to making Kirby fan art and other interests, from making the S3RL Trilogy. This sudden loss of interest in making MSPR wasn't explained very well by me, but given the current state of things right now, I should say it.

Right now, the old iteration of More Shapes + Raves has been considered "canceled". This is mainly because of the comic's development being hit by major scope creep coming from suggestions made by my friends and myself. With a scope so huge, the comic's ideas became disorganized and very arbitrary, unnecessarily causing too much growth and less motivation to make the comic.

A plan I have been considering for a long while is to reboot MSPR. The core concepts (such as Raver Dimension, Neko Nation, Rave Six, etc.) will be retained, however I'd need to change up some things to prevent a potential case of scope creep coming for the reboot, such as the addition of unnecessary ideas and songs. Given the return of activity on the Interdimensional Library Discord, MSPR's reboot might be one more chance to spring the comic back in action.

Some things to keep in mind for the MSPR reboot:

All panels will be remade in a 1920x1080 resolution to match the highest screen resolution rendered in Just Shapes & Beats. They will also all be made in Inkscape, in comparison to past S3RL Trilogy panels, which mainly made use of MediBang Paint.

The musical aspect of MSPR may be potentially toned down. I haven't been in the mood lately to make musical songs for stuff like lore, backstories, etc. Instead, MSPR will continue the traditional storytelling and dialogue that the previous stories (Hexagon's Adventure and Fiveside Force) have.

The playable flashback acts will be completely removed. Think that's way too much from the original scope. These will be relegated back into regular cutscenes.

The intro act may be completely changed. I think there has to be a more coherent reason why Fresh rediscovered the Ravortexia in the first place, not just by finding some random book on the ground.

Some songs will be retained, but there might be some new ones too. Additional fights that were introduced in my Mixtape concepts (like Endless Summer) may be re-incorporated into MSPR.

The Rave Six, as of now, is based on guest characters that represent the vocalists of various S3RL music, and other celebrities and friends in real life. To lessen the connection to the real deals, some names of the characters will be changed. I've done a few ideas with HexaCryonic about this.

Most importantly, the skeletal structure of the lore and backstories used in MSPR will be kept, but they will be refined over time for a more coherent storytelling. This includes the backstory of Raver Dimension, Fresh, etc. while also coherently tying it in with aspects of JSAB Story Mode including the Lost Chapter.

Teasers will be handled better, as I might include things like more song hints, WIP art teasers (in the Interdimensional Library server), and more.

Regarding where the MSPR reboot will be posted, they'll be posted to any Just Shapes & Beats servers that I'm in, but these will be the most active places where you can find the S3RL Trilogy and MSPR:

These are just some of the basic plans I had in mind for a potential MSPR reboot, and there might be more in the making as the reboot plans are still developing. However, this is not all what I have in mind:

Raverian Encore: MSPR & S3RL Trilogy Extra Mixtapes & More

If you have been following my works in the Berzerk Studio official Discord server, you might have noticed I've been developing some "extra levels" that still have ties to the MSPR theming. Most of the time, these are levels that have very arbitrary song picks.

If you don't know what extra levels are, these are levels in Just Shapes & Beats that do not have any ties to the main story, and must be unlocked by other means (eg. collecting Beatpoints, performing certain actions, etc.) There are already obvious examples such as Tokyo Skies, Paper Dolls, and even tracks like Deadlocked and the Strike the Earth (Shovel Knight) remix by Danimal Cannon, but I'm sure you'd already know that by now.

The songs revealed for Raverian Encore were:

I'll be eventually posting these later on the S3RL Trilogy blog, but this is not important right now. I want to discuss more about how I'll be handling extra content going forward:

Scrapped levels and arbitrary level concepts will most likely end up in these so-called "extra mixtapes". Notably, there will be three mixtapes, each containing new levels that are tied to the theming of the three stories in the S3RL Trilogy.

There are three colors of mixtape: purple, green, and yellow, corresponding to Hexagon's Adventure, FIveside Force, and MSPR.

The purple mixtape is called "Extragon-N-On", and is obtained after completing the OctoChaos boss battle in Hexagon's Adventure.

The green mixtape is called the "Side Five", obtained after liberating Planet No. 5 in Fiveside Force.

The yellow mixtape is "Raverian Encore". I planned this to be given by the Rave Master after Triangle begins his quest to reassemble the Rave Six in Act 1 of MSPR, and I'll keep that too for the reboot.

The old iteration of More Shapes + Raves will be archived as a separate thing when I make the S3RL Trilogy downloadable in the future.

Some scrapped levels and even mixtape levels may be subject to being added in the MSPR reboot, but this is purely based on my decisions.

Concept art and the MSPR plan documents may be shared in a separate download if I do decide on doing that.

The future of the blog

Right now, More Shapes + Raves is still being re-developed as a reboot, so I can't say I'd be posting much of the comic here. However, since this blog is designed for the S3RL Trilogy in general, I'd want to clarify some things:

I originally planned on reblogging most of my old comic posts from Hexagon's Adventure and Fiveside Force on my main, which also used to be the S3RL Trilogy blog before rebranding as my main Tumblr account in general (which also has a main focus on Kirby fan art). However, I decided that I'll be just making new posts on this blog for Hexagon's Adventure and Fiveside Force, as I do plan on rewriting most of the comic captions and dialogue.

The state of the comics will be kept as is, with some exceptions. I really should note once again that Fiveside Force admittedly took way too much from Decagon's JSAB comics (which are sadly cancelled as of now), and as a result I'd need to remake some of the panels.

In regards to the above, the worst offenders I've seen were that one PentaBoss scene in the Perfect Rave battle and the meet-up of Lord Apeirogon with Marga in the introduction of Act 4, and I'm not sure if the entirety of Act 1 and the Monsta boss battle in Act 2 counts. In this regard, such quality does not match up with my current standards, as I've now strived to push for more original content nowadays, and as a consequence I'll just be remaking some panels in Inkscape.

There will be now unique tags for the blog's posts, which I will explain in the following section.

If ever the S3RL Trilogy has concluded, there are plans for the blog to switch over to just being a comic blog for my Just Shapes & Beats universe in general. I also plan to repost some of my old Tumblr ask art for posterity purposes, and also revive an old JSAB Flower OC I've adopted from the Bountiful Blossoms JSAB adoptable blog (thank you once again).

Anyways, next part is least important but is something I'd want to talk about in the event I do plan on posting comics to the blog:

I can relate to several characters, of course, and it's not even that I never identify with any characters — all the ones I do just happen to be in canons I'm not that fannish about.

These aren't definitive answers, but hey.

The Lord of the Rings — it's the first book for adults I read as a kid and it blew my mind at the time. I still think there's a lot to appreciate in it.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame — the funny thing is, I don't actually like this book very much. However, it's the first thing I read after a long period of avoiding books, and I've been reading more or less non-stop since, so… thanks? (The next thing I read were all the Sherlock Holmes stories and that kinda cemented the reading habit).

The Name of the Rose — Usually when a book seriously bores me during the first 50-100 pages, I drop it. This is one of the very few exceptions where slogging through the beginning was entirely worth it.

Welcome to Just Shapes & Beats: The S3RL Trilogy

The S3RL Trilogy is a series of Just Shapes & Beats fan story comics that are set to mimic the original gameplay of Story Mode while adding all-new twists, characters, locations, and music to jam out to. So far, it sets an overarching lore for Cyon's interpretation of the Just Shapes & Beats universe, which is up-to-date, even up to more recent content updates like The Lost Chapter.

The S3RL Trilogy has been in the works since 2019, however it has not seen any resurgence as of 2023. Initially, the S3RL Trilogy used MediBang Paint on mobile and PC to create the panels, but was recently moved to Inkscape as the main medium with the help of HexaCryonic teaching Cyon how to use the program.

There are currently three stories:

Hexagon's Adventure - Set after Story Mode, join Hexagon, the Fifth Guardian, in his very own origin story and how he stopped an ongoing alien invasion from taking over Paradise.

Pentagon & the Fiveside Force - Set many months after Hexagon's Adventure, Pentagon and his two friends Helicopter and PentaBoss are unexpectedly invited into a great space mission with the Fiveside Force to save the entire universe from an even bigger threat. This spans four acts.

More Shapes + Raves - The third and final story in the Trilogy, and the longest by far. Two dimensions are threatened by the second uprising of the Neko Nation (a group of cat-bosses) after their leader Fresh has stolen the golden Ravortexia headphones, and Square has gone missing. After being captured, Triangle & Boat alongside a new captive soon find themselves being transported into Raver Dimension, and it's up to them to save Raver Dimension, reunite the mysterious Rave Six, and stop Fresh from conquering the best of both worlds.

About the future of this blog

Hello everyone, EleCyon here, running the "pentriahex" blog dedicated to Just Shapes & Beats: The S3RL Trilogy. I want to talk about the future of this blog considering that the S3RL Trilogy has been under an indefinite hiatus for over three years.

As of now, it is really unlikely at this moment I would be able to continue More Shapes + Raves as I've moved on to other interests, especially in the Super Cat Tales and Kirby series. I also lack the motivation to continue re-posting the Pentagon & the Fiveside Force panels over to this blog. Who knows if I might find a spark again in getting back into Just Shapes & Beats once again? I do hold out for something one day, but I'm not too sure about it.

So what's the future gonna be holding for the blog's legacy? Starting now, I'll be rebranding the blog into a new general blog of mine hosting content I've made so far that isn't exclusively Just Shapes & Beats related. This includes other passion projects I've made (Captain Toad: Prism Star Quest, Super Cat Wars, etc.) as well as announcements for upcoming songs/videos I'm making on my YouTube channel. The blog may be renamed to reflect my current name as well.

I may also reach out into reblogging more content that isn't JSAB-related, so you might see me reblog stuff from the Kirby series or any other franchises I like to talk about a lot. I think it might give you some more food for thought on how would the variety of this blog be increased going forward.

Regarding the new name of the blog

So for anyone asking, "what would be the new name of this blog"?

It'd be named "cyonofgaia", to match with my current username across YouTube and Discord, as well as the name being in reference to a lore thing I'm working on for my Kirbysona.

Although it's named like that, the blog will still be dedicated to posting about my passion projects and other fun stuff, including art as well. It's not exclusively about my own sona, you know. There's lots more things to enjoy as well.

The S3RL Trilogy blog will be kept up as pentriahex, however, it will be relegated to a secondary blog instead, as I cannot switch out primary and secondary blogs. This is for the foreseeable future in the event I wish to go back and finish the S3RL Trilogy once and for all.

ANNOUNCEMENT: New sona

Hey everyone, with the update of my blog, also comes the update to myself - you may notice my new sona floating around, CYON or EleCyon. Described as a somewhat incomplete cloned specimen from Newer Lab Discovera related to a familiar Star Warrior, ID-X72 has escaped containment and finds himself in the Cyber World (the internet) of Gaia, or what we know as Planet Earth.

A reference sheet is available, complete with lore, names, and front and back images. The Jet copy ability hat is worn by Cyon and is used as a digital goggles, but there's a variant where Cyon does not wear the goggles at all, instead opting to wear a unique pair of tinted glasses. His emblem is the Cyon Comet, his personalized Warp Star.

Fan art of Cyon is appreciated, as with the rest of the S3RL Trilogy. Note that he is not the mascot of the S3RL Trilogy, as some characters from the comics may make better candidates (like the Guardian trio and Captain Percival).

New username + Check the Interdimensional Library

Hey everyone, it's me Cyon. So with the influx of new Tumblr users, I want to once again attempt to put this account out of hiatus. I'll be doing my best to post all the Pentagon & the Fiveside Force updates (which were originally done in 2019) and move on to working on More Shapes + Raves, the final story in the S3RL Trilogy.

First, I want to tell you that this blog now goes under a new name, known as PENTRIAHEX. The username is supposed to be a reference to the guardians that represent the S3RL Trilogy which are Pentagon, Triangle, and Hexagon, and now accurately represents more the intent of this Tumblr blog.

Additionally, if you want to view all the new panels, including the complete Fiveside Force comic, check Interdimensional Library (INT-LIB). Everything's all ready to go, though some parts may be still a work in progress.

It's been a while. But we're bringing this Tumblr back from the dead.

Welcome back, fellow Tumblr folk or something or whatever lol. It's me, Hexelectron, AKA agenthexagon on Tumblr.

It's been a while since I last used this Tumblr page, as I've moved the posting of the S3RL Trilogy comics to Discord, especially in places like the Berzerk Studio discord and Comic Observatory. But since college is rolling in, there's a huge chance I'm about to distance myself from Discord for quite a long time... as in becoming less active on it.

So how's the S3RL Trilogy going? It's still going, but the final story in the series, More Shapes + Raves, is still on Act 1 and is on hiatus. Why is it on hiatus? I'm currently working on Super Cat Wars, my Super Mario War mod, which is my second project that is near completion. Right now, I have plans to get this Tumblr back on track, as I'm probably not going to use Discord a lot to post my comics due to incoming college life. So hey everyone, @agenthexagon here. Apologies for the lack of Fiveside Force panels on my Tumblr... I barely used this site for anything haha.

Why did I include this logo in my post? Well, I'm proud to announce my latest fanstory to complete the trilogy of JSAB stories:

Presenting MORE SHAPES + RAVES, an all new JSAB-themed musical starring Triangle and Boat!

The idea for this story has been around since half-way through Fiveside Force's story, if you are wondering. This used to be called "Heroes in Raver Dimension", named after Kirby Star Allies' gamemode "Heroes in Another Dimension".

The idea for S3RL Trilogy came from the fact that all of my stories used the artist's music in various bosses, even the latest 2019 ones. Some people didn't like the fact that he was the top contender in the OST of my stories, so I'm turning my stories into a trilogy so that future stories will include less S3RL music. (I'm a huge fan of him, mind you.)

About Pentagon & the Fiveside Force, I fully completed the story on JSAB Comic Corner and 3mp1r3 HQ. Since I'm such a lazy bum, I won't be posting panels of the story and MSPR on my Tumblr anymore, but I'll still post comic shorts there.

IT MAY SEEM THAT NOT MUCH HAS BEEN DONE IN THE PAST YEAR FOR THE S3RL TRILOGY, AND IT IS TOO PRECIOUS TO LEAVE IN A LIMBO RIGHT NOW.

I WILL GRANT YOU ACCESS TO A LIST OF CHANGES AND UPDATES THAT WILL BE MADE FOR THE COMIC AND ITS LOGS.

From then on, most writings will be rewritten for future panels. I want to give my newfound writing skills another chance at breathing in new life to these stories.

The S3RL Trilogy is no longer being posted in Comic Observatory. It will be moved to a new server soon, which will house the entirety of the Trilogy, as well as information, lore, and soundtracks.

The S3RL Trilogy's final story, More Shapes + Raves, will continue to be posted in major JSAB communities like the Berzerk Discord, Shirobon's Server, etc.

A compilation download will be made for the S3RL Trilogy, which will be uploaded to MEGA, provided that I have enough storage space to do so. This will include individual downloads for the three comics, as well as a big compilation of all of the stories.

The planned soundtrack is pretty much complete. It's got some interesting bangers here and there, and I've shown a few sneakpeeks of the music on Comic Observatory.

Right now I'm still not onto the MSPR comic-making mood right now as I'm more focused on other projects and college. I've did a lot of planning with a couple of friends behind the scenes. And I have one job - to not give up on telling the story I wanted to tell for a long time.
